posted by Gidge Uriza

I’m going to be a little out of pocket for a few days. I don’t really know how many. Real Life has come calling and when this posts, I’ll have a lovely bloody incision going, just like in the picture above.

Nifty eh?

I’m going to set up some posts to head out on their own while I convalesce, but if days pass and still no Gidge, I promise I’m just laid up nursing the vicodin and sleeping off the unpleasantness.

And I have a story, before I go.

I put in the word “bandage” in Search and find a store called BLOODLINE. I pop over and sure enough, it’s bandages GALORE, bloody scars – the works.

The owner is there, York Undercroft, and after I pay for this lovely midriff bandage (which comes in OOOOOODLES of layers so I could wear any old thing with it I WANT!) he wanders over and asks me if my purchase was delivered!

Huh. No, actually it WASN’T! Well he was a honey and passed it to me straight away, apologizing – SL was probably borked but he also thought he might have a vendor problem of some sort.

I think he did, because his vendor delivered them to me TODAY again. ooooops.

Anyway, he’s super sweet and a great store owner – I DO appreciate kindness and good service. Plus – I didn’t check his profile not being SINGLE myself but ladies, he’s a cutie.

I'm Wearing PXL Creations FLAMENCO

Well then, there it is.

I’ll be back when I’m better. Till then, I’ll be the fashionista in bandages.

Style Notes …….

Ok I have no idea……what am I wearing?

Let’s see if I can remember……

Shape Gidge Custom Shape

Skin – PXL Creations Grace Fair – Flamenco

Hair – Laqroki – Priss Sunkissed

Eyes – Poetic Color – lilac something

Bra – Rosemar – possibly a freebie

Bandage – bloodline

pants – callie cline

nails – love soul

NOT TOO BAD from memory

*Addendum, I wasn’t aware it was CCAD until about 2am last night when Cajsa told me. At first, I thought I’d need to scramble to edit some pics I had already shot and then I remembered that in this post – I’d pulled on a pair of Callie’s beautiful jean.

I was appreciating her without even trying.

Kudos to Callie for her big heart and her open arms with which she greets the world. I am continually surprised by her eternal optimism and her lovely creations. Callie if I had more time I’d write you a poem, with rhyming and everything. As time is an issue, let me just say thank you for all your graciousness. You are truly appreciated.

Hola My Fashion Friends–

Seems my weekend in-world was pretty quiet. Logged in at weird hours and was able to really get caught up on LM, notecards, and IMs. No parties or shows to attend. Just kickin it around the grid and enjoying the sight.

So my style choices were casual, relaxed, and feminine. Sometimes its just good to put away the frills and frocks and let your hair down. With great styles from AYY and M&R (formerly Rosemar) , I looked fabu as I tp’ed all over the place.

Sweater top and Shirt by Rosemar (now M&R), Jeans by G.L.A.M (no longer available), Scarf by TB (Tres Blah), Hair by Detour

On Saturday night, I was heading to check out the garbage hunt over at Starlust and realized I needed to put on my glasses so I could see. Once I put on this wonderfully classic glasses from VW (VIntageWear), the rest of the outfit just popped into my head. Very typical of something I would wear in RL. The sweater top and shirt (each are separate items) are both by Rosemar, which is now M&R Cupcakes. I love the clothing Rosemary makes and I have been a huge fan every since she started in SL with her first venuture– Oh! What A Neat Boutique. Anyway, the top and sweater maybe freebies, but if not are very very low cost. I’m sorely missing G.L.A.M, turned VG Republic, which is now gone from the grid. These jeans were creations from the GLAM days and they are just the perfect fit and cut! Accessories here included handbag (Paper Couture), earrings/ bracelet (Caroline’s) and neck scarf (Tres Blah), and shoe boot by ETD.

Jacket by AYY, Shoes by hoorenbeck, Hair by Truth

Sunday saw me checking out various sales and new releases. I was pleasantly suprised to see [hoorenbeck] release a pair of women shoes, scripted and colorized in a gazillion ways! I have always known [hoorenbeck] to produce clothes and shoes for men— but now they are treating the ladies to something very very special. I rushed over to check the new Women’s Stiletto and I was impressed. I liked the fact that there were four shoes in one (bow, strap, bow/strap, plain) and that the textures and colors created so many ways to wear. The price was steep for me — $600L– but I also said I wouldnt need to buy another apir of pumps for a looooonnnnn time. LOL…

I liked the shoes so much I built this outfit around them! I think I will be living in these shoes for the next few weeks so don’t talk about me too badly. Anyway, I customized the shoe as patent leather in bourdeaux. I then matched them with Jay’s Jacket in red from AYY. Nicely fitted and in layers which makes it easy to mix and match. I am on the modest side and like to cover up the belly and such. And since it was a bit cold today I decided to layer a nice Cozy Chenille Sweater from PIG underneath. Just that simple addition made the outfit more casual and perfect for the crisp fall weather. To play off the silver accents in the jacket, I added cropped slacks from an Armidi outfit. Accessories here include earrings/necklace (Second Mirage). eyeglasses (Tickled Pink), manicure (I&K), and skin (KaoSome).

To lighten up your wardrobe and get more relaxed styles, check out some of the options above. Also, the Starlust hunt ends tonight so be sure to hurry down!

Until next time,

Ok…so…I’m broke…and…in a crazy shopping mood. Since a little before Halloween, designers have been throwing out free skins; group gifts, Halloween hunts, etc. I’ve picked up a bunch; I’m not blogging them all, but there were quite a few worth a picture and a mention.
For the most part I’m just going to let the pictures do the talking.

I’m also going to attempt to NOT be offensive..but..It’s not like I’m posting to win awards and none of these designers is on my friends list..so..w/e. We’ll shoot for “if ya have neffin nice to say…stfu” and see if we can land in “ya dun gotta be mean…even ugly is beautiful from some angle”.

And here we go.

This one is called sUmi, by Tuli Asturias.
Soft, delicate, and pretty, with a lot of cute little around the eye thingers.

The breast cleavage rocks imo. The knees are cute…and the female bits are tastefully understated. Nothing else on this skin really stands out to me as flawed. It’s just a well done skin all around and there isn’t much else to say.

Meredith, Also by Tuli Asturias; less delicate, but equally pretty.

Tuli’s skins are a pretty good mix of hand-painting and photo-sourcing. The best of both worlds. Same body as sUmi. Great cleavage…and the little belly pooch is growing on me. The little details are more evident on the sun-kissed tone than the lighter tone. Same body but on this tone the leg and hip highlighting, as well as the knees, jump out at me more. Don’t know what to say that I haven’t already; They’re nicely done. I’d buy em..but..alas..still broke.

I believe this one is called Gizelle, at a store called Tea Lane, By Teagan Blackthorne.

I look a bit asian here…but I like it. This skin looks more hand-painted; I usually go for more photosourced, but this is really pretty.

The breast detailing is soft but clear. Nothing looks out of place. It’s very tasteful. Not too much cleavage shading (aka silicone boobs) and not too little. Lovely photo-sourcing. And what a cute apple-bottom butt. Even the female bits aren’t scary. Eyebrow color is adjustable. My fav features of this one are the breasts and the belly, which like the rest of the skin, is done softly but not too softly; looking fit without looking like you’ve got a rock hard six-pack from your second job as a female wrestler. (EDIT: this is a splendor skin mod, so all comments made about the body, shouldn’t be credited to the designer listed, but to Sezmra Svarog)

Symphony Skins by Claire Harford???
I don’t usually go for a skin this dark, I like being pale…but BROKE..hello! So this is what I get. It’s beautiful though. I would buy it…in…a lighter tone of course.

The breast shading is nice. The skin in general is a little more mottled than I prefer, but it’s nicely done. The nipples are blurry, but not so much as to be unrecognizable. The body on this skin leans heavily towards the photo-real side, without being obnoxious and in your face. It’s quite soft and pretty. My fav features of this skin are the face and the delicate chest detailing under the breast that give the indication of a rib cage. I’ve seen that overdone on other skins..and I have to say, it’s so much more successful when it’s an impression given rather than a slap in the face. So…kudos on that.

This one is probably a little bit out of the “normal” range, but I think it’s super adorable.

Called spydr skin??? By AnneAlyce Maertens.

Nice Halloween freebie.

I do not recommend viewing the body in this skin tone. It’s probably adorable in other tones…but this..not so much. I’m definitely more drawn to the face here. I’m pretty sure this is an eloh mod but I could be wrong. Anyway..yeh..check out the OTHER skin tones..if there are any..I haven’t been to the store. (EDIT: eloh eliot skin mod [another skin])

Splashing Doll, Violette, by Kryptonia Paperdoll.
I had a little bit of trouble adjusting my mouth for this one, but it was worth it. Another very pretty find.

This looks like pretty much the same body as the gizelle skin, so I’m wondering now if these are eloh or splendor mods? Same soft breasts, same apple bottom butt..etc etc etc as the gizelle skin. Meh /shrugs. In any case, the bodies are exactly the same, except for the skin tone, and that the gizelle skin has some belly freckling. (EDIT: this is a splendor skin mod, so all comments made about the body, shouldn’t be credited to the designer listed, but to Sezmra Svarog)

Creampuff skins, by Rosemary Galbraith of Rosemar.
I remember some of her first skinning attempts…lots of talent here.
I haven’t kept up with what she’s done lately, but I picked these freebies up and had to take pic…
very nicely done.

I like the body shading/detailing on the darker skins. While it’s the same for the lighter skins, I can’t be certain it translates as well as it does on the darker skins. But I’m very pleased to see a completely different body. A lot of the skins I’ve been seeing over the last year, remind me of someone or other else’s work, and this one definately does not. Very original…just my opinion.

Minnu Palen’s newer mms Moscow skins.
I’ve picked up a few of the mms skins here and there…This series is my fav of hers so far. I probably won’t be dropping the big bucks to buy em…too pricey for my tastes, but they are very nice. If the prices were lower, I’d buy these like candy.

Heavily photo-sourced, a little mottled, which is to be expected. The heels of the feet…no, I’m not talking about the soles, are gorgeous. Strange feature to single out, but it’s true. The female bits look nice. The mms breasts have never been one of my favs. They just look a bit too ashy and underveloped to me..I want to grab a lotion bottle and a miracle bra. There’s nothing wrong with them at all though. The butt comes up a little short…and the tummy shading is a little more atheltically inclined than I like..but there are plenty of features to make me overlook those. The hip area and the belly area below the six-pack is awesome, and…to be fair..the six-pack is well done.

End note: While skin mods can be fun, I really do not agree with creating a store that largely SELLS, for profit, mods of another designer’s work. Sure the permission has been provided, and making makeup is fun. But you haven’t created anything…you’ve modded something someone else has created. Take a little pride in yourself, in your skills, your talent and your own work..and really make something. And if you’re going to make makeup for someone else’s skin…consider a much much lower price; that designer didn’t pass those free templates over to you, for your own little get rich quick scheme. That’s..just…tacky. kthxbai.

Well, I believe the Expo is over, and it was sadly far too short considering how broke Scarbie is these days. But she managed to find enough money to walk away feeling good, even if she didn’t manage to invest in all the things she wanted to. One of the side-effects of crippling poverty! Anyway, I figured I’d show you lovelies some of my favourite pieces picked up this year, because you can still visit MAIN stores, after all.

This year’s Exposition was fantastic, I’m thrilled to say, even better than last year. A big well-done to Miriel and her crew, they did a fantastic job. I was there for more than four hours before I experienced any lag at all, even with 30+ people in the sim. The layout was easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. Frankly, if Hair Fair had been run the same way, I’d probably have enjoyed it a lot more. The booths were even in alphabetical order. Plus (and this is very important), there was a very high ratio of gorgeous jewels to balance out the inevitable booth or two of blingtardwear. I suppose there’s nothing wrong with blingtardwear, but there’s nothing right, either. You know the kind I mean. Huge, gaudy diamonds all out the wazooey, enormous bling flashes, or even… even so much bling on the product pictures themselves that you can’t see what the jewellery looks like! Kind of a no-no, just as a head’s up to any potential jewellery designers out there.

Anyway, there was very little of that, and lots of the good stuff, so let’s get started with my favourites. Some of these pictures I had to borrow from the creator’s blogs, because I ran out of money and… well, they look better than my photos anyway.

Always so many gorgeous things. Oh god, it hurts and stings. So much pretty. I got a sneak peak at these when I bumped into her while hair shopping the other day, and they are breathtaking in person.

Last time I was there, they didn't really HAVE much. But I'm telling you, they released the CUTEST stuff for the Jewellery Expo, and it's so cheap! This is the Marina earrings and necklace in white, and it only set me back about $200L for both. Their store is right behind my satellite at Le Zoo, so go check them out!

OMG, Tuli's new Meredith skins have a butt-freckle, that's so cute! ...and totally off-topic! This adorable sparkly bangle set is by Dark Mouse Jewelry. Mouse is a sweet-heart, and a talented one at that; these bangles are to die for! They include earrings too, which aren't shown, but are equally fabulous.

It's not really a secret that Scarbie has a fetish for cameos and skullies. Chalk it up to my inner goth girl (I blame her for a lot >_>) but the adorable Glitterati set from Violet Voltaire totally justifies me in that love. AND the cameos on the earrings and necklace are both texture change, with four options! What's NOT to love?! Nothing, that's what!

This gorgeous piece is from EarthStones, the Sylvan Hip Belt in Silver/Abalone. They had so much gorgeous stuff at the Expo that if I hadn't been on a budget of only $2k (*Cry*) that I'd have bought every last thing!

VERY primmy, though. I lagged out just putting it on, but it's so pretty. The set racks up a whopping 749 prims altogether, and most of it appears to be sculpties. But still, gorgeous!

Many of the chapters (of Nissitissit Witch) were based on events that occurred in North Village, and information was derived from published articles in The Times Free Press. Other Internet research was used for authenticity, such as the crossing of Baltimore by the Union troops from Lowell. Additional research pertained to the various chemicals and heavy metals to which the villagers were exposed and the resultant health effects of such exposures.

With numerous newspaper and magazine articles written about the unusual events that allegedly occurred, North Village is steeped in myth to this day. Some homeowners continue to report that their houses are haunted. My saga deviates from the microcosm of North Village and examines why some of these bizarre incidents may have happened. Finally, my story makes us wonder about the Indian souls who inhabited the valley for thousands of years. Most importantly, it illustrates the power they had with the land, long before any settlers had invaded their valley.

Recently, the best designers in Second Life were invited to come together for a series of fashion shows given at the Black Swan sim. Their work was to be inspired by the environment that SL resident, Light Waves created there. It was an unusual event, with overtones of pure Art. When I observed different aspects of the runway and seating area, I could not help but think of the work of Jerry Uhelsman, the famous photographer. There was a surreal quality in every touch.

Rebel Hope’s beautiful creation, Wishbringer, was designed for the Black Swan sim and fashion show. Wishbringer is magical, mystical, mysterious, and downright sexy gown with cape. It reflects the shadowy, enigmatic quality of the world created by the avant gaard and INFORMED artists/designers there.

I really got into the two blue crystal balls that come with Wishbringer. One has particles and the other does not. Both have an etherial quality about them that compliments the mood
There is a sculpted sickle with skull as well as a sculpted crescent moon. Beautiful feather flex wings and a flowing hooded cape are among the sixteen detailed pieces in the box. Unique to this work by Rebel Hope is also a pose/display piece with a background for presentation and photographic needs.

Another gown inspired by the sim is the Black Swan Multi Peacock Dress by Digit Darkes. Sarinajane Loon was stunning as she danced in this gown after the first of the four fashion shows. The skirt speaks for itself.

I’m not the sort of girl who attaches her Xcite and tells, but I can tell you that I spend a lot of time deciding what new delicious thing to wear for intimate moments. What is the point, the boys will ask? The point is, to me….that I’m saying something about who I am, and bringing sexy with me.

I love classic sexy styling. You don’t have to be in a shorty prim skirt with half your boobs hanging out to show a SLuver or anyone else that your mind is on a private evening.

After all, with only the tiniest bit of bottom showing – would there be any question in your mind as to what is on mine? Now if only I owned a nice bed grrrr! (is saving her money never fear lol)

Classic sexy, this set from Rosemar fit the bill for me and I had to share it. Not sheer, not low cut or revealing this is lingerie in it’s most classic form. Kudos to Rosemar for creating lingerie that is timeless in it’s style.

Classic sexy, this set from Rosemar fit the bill for me and I had to share it. Not sheer, not low cut or revealing this is lingerie in it’s most classic form. Kudos to Rosemar for creating lingerie that is timeless in it’s style.

Hi, it’s Natasha again! If you are part of the update group for ROSEMAR, then you’ve already probably received this group gift. It’s all twelve skintones with a new makeup. The makeup includes blue eyeshadow, but the best part is the pretty pink blush and pink lips.

My favorites are the Manhattan, Teak, Twine, and Whiskey skintones, since they are closest in color to what me and Niki want. The Almond and Cinderella skins are really pale and could even pass for one of those “goth” skins. Rosemary Galbraith also has a good range of darker skins. I may wear a lighter skintone but I notice these things, lots of skin makers will have a bunch of white skins and then only one black skin. Darker skinned people are not all one color!

To join the update group, search for “Rosemar”. You can see other makeups at the store located in Popfuzz: http://slurl.com/secondlife/PopFuzz/60/128/35
