Jenis-jenis Penelitian Ilmiah Penelitian dapat digolongkan / dibagi ke dalam beberapa jenis berdasarkan kriteria-kriteria tertentu, antara lain berdasarkan: (1) Tujuan; (2) Pendekatan; (3) Tempat; (4) Pemakaian atau hasil / alasan yang diperoleh; (5) Bidang ilmu yang diteliti; (6) Taraf Penelitian; (7) Teknik yang digunakan; (8) Keilmiahan; (9) Spesialisasi bidang (ilmu) garapan. Berikut ini masing-masing pembagiannya.

Berdasarkan hasil/alasan yang diperoleh:

1. Basic Research (Penelitian Dasar), Mempunyai alasan intelektual, dalam rangka pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan;
2. Applied Reseach (Penelitian Terapan), Mempunyai alasan praktis, keinginan untuk mengetahui; bertujuan agar dapat melakukan sesuatu yang lebih baik, efektif, efisien.

Berdasarkan Bidang yang diteliti:

1. Penelitian Sosial, secara khusus meneliti bidang sosial: ekonomi, pendidikan, hukum, dsb.
2. Penelitian Eksakta, secara khusus meneliti bidang eksakta: Kimia, Fisika, Teknik, dsb.

Berdasarkan Tempat Penelitian :

1. Field Research (Penelitian Lapangan), langsung di lapangan;
2. Library Research (Penelitian Kepustakaan), dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan literatur (kepustakaan) dari penelitian sebelumnya;
3. Laboratory Research (Penelitian Laboratorium), dilaksanakan pada tempat tertentu / lab, biasanya bersifat eksperimen atau percobaan;

Berdasarkan Teknik yang digunakan :

1. Survey Research (Penelitian Survei), tidak melakukan perubahan (tidak ada perlakuan khusus) terhadap variabel yang diteliti.
2. Experimen Research (Penelitian Percobaan), dilakukan perubahan (ada perlakuan khusus) terhadap variabel yang diteliti.

Berdasarkan Keilmiahan :

1.      Penelitian Ilmiah

Menggunakan kaidah-kaidah ilmiah (Mengemukakan pokok-pokok pikiran, menyimpulkan dengan melalui prosedur yang sistematis dengan menggunakan pembuktian ilmiah/meyakinkan. Ada dua kriteria dalam menentukan kadar/tinggi-rendahnya mutu ilmiah suatu penelitian yaitu:

1. Kemampuan memberikan pengertian yang jelas tentang masalah yang diteliti:
2. Kemampuan untuk meramalkan: sampai dimana kesimpulan yang sama dapat dicapai apabila data yang sama ditemukan di tempat/waktu lain;

Ciri-ciri penelitian ilmiah adalah:

1. Purposiveness, fokus tujuan yang jelas;
2. Rigor, teliti, memiliki dasar teori dan disain metodologi yang baik;
3. Testibility, prosedur pengujian hipotesis jelas
4. Replicability, Pengujian dapat diulang untuk kasus yang sama atau yang sejenis;
5. Objectivity, Berdasarkan fakta dari data aktual : tidak subjektif dan emosional;
6. Generalizability, Semakin luas ruang lingkup penggunaan hasilnya semakin berguna;
7. Precision, Mendekati realitas dan confidence peluang kejadian dari estimasi dapat dilihat;
8. Parsimony, Kesederhanaan dalam pemaparan masalah dan metode penelitiannya.

2.      Penelitian non ilmiah (Tidak menggunakan metode atau kaidah-kaidah ilmiah)

• Berdasarkan Spesialisasi Bidang (ilmu) garapannya : Bisnis (Akunting, Keuangan, Manajemen, Pemasaran), Komunikasi (Massa, Bisnis, Kehumasan/PR, Periklanan), Hukum (Perdata, Pidana, Tatanegara, Internasional), Pertanian (agribisnis, Agronomi, Budi Daya Tanaman, Hama Tanaman), Teknik, Ekonomi (Mikro, Makro, Pembangunan), dll.
• Berdasarkan dari hadirnya variabel (ubahan) : variabel adalah hal yang menjadi objek penelitian, yang ditatap, yang menunjukkan variasi baik kuantitatif maupun kualitatif. Variabel : masa lalu, sekarang, akan datang. Penelitian yang dilakukan dengan menjelaskan / menggambarkan variabel masa lalu dan sekarang (sedang terjadi) adalah penelitian deskriptif ( to describe = membeberkan/menggambarkan). Penelitian dilakukan terhadap variabel masa yang akan datang adalah penelitian eksperimen.

Penelitian secara umum :

o       Penelitian Survei:

• Untuk memperoleh fakta dari gejala yang ada;
• Mencari keterangan secara faktual dari suatu kelompok, daerah dsb.
• Melakukan evaluasi serta perbandingan terhadap hal yang telah dilakukan orang lain dalam menangani hal yang serupa;
• Dilakukan terhadap sejumlah individu / unit baik secara sensus maupun secara sampel;
• Hasilnya untuk pembuatan rencana dan pengambilan keputusan;
• Penelitian ini dapat berupa :

1. Penelitian Exploratif (Penjajagan). Terbuka, mencari-cari, pengetahuan peneliti tentang masalah yang diteliti masih terbatas. Pertanyaan dalam studi penjajagan ini misalnya : Apakah yang paling mencemaskan anda dalam hal infrastruktur di daerah Kalbar dalam lima tahun terakhir ini? Menurut anda, bagaimana cara perawatan infrastruktur jalan dan jembatan yang baik.
2. Penelitian Deskriptif. Mempelajari masalah dalam masyarakat, tata cara yang berlaku dalam masyarakat serta situasi-situasi, sikap, pandangan, proses yang sedang berlangsung, pengaruh dari suatu fenomena; pengukuran yang cermat tentang fenomena dalam masyarakat. Peneliti mengembangkan konsep, menghimpun fakta, tapi tidak menguji hipotesis.
3. Penelitian Evaluasi. Mencari jawaban tentang pencapaian tujuan yang digariskan sebelumnya. Evaluasi di sini mencakup formatif (melihat dan meneliti pelaksanaan program), Sumatif (dilaksanakan pada akhir program untuk mengukur pencapaian tujuan).
4. Penelitian Eksplanasi (Penjelasan). Menggunakan data yang sama, menjelaskan hubungan kausal antara variabel melalui pengujian hipotesis.
5. Penelitian Prediksi. Meramalkan fenomena atau keadaan tertentu;
6. Penelitian Pengembangan Sosial. Dikembangkan berdasarkan survei yang dilakukan secara berkala: Misal: Jumlah dan Persentase Penduduk Miskin di Kalbar, 1998-2003;

o       Grounded Research

Mendasarkan diri pada fakta dan menggunakan analisis perbandingan; bertujuan mengadakan  generalisasi empiris, menetapkan konsep, membuktikan teori, mengembangkan teori; pengumpulan dan analisis data dalam waktu yang bersamaan. Dalam riset ini data merupakan sumber teori, teori berdasarkan data. Ciri-cirinya : Data merupakan sumber teori dan sumber hipotesis, Teori menerangkan data setelah data diurai.

TUJUAN PENELITIAN :

Secara umum ada empat tujuan utama :

1. Tujuan Exploratif (Penemuan) : menemukan sesuatu yang baru dalam bidang tertentu
2. Tujuan Verifikatif (Pengujian): menguji kebenaran sesuatu dalam bidang yang telah ada
3. Tujuan Developmental (Pengembangan) : mengembangkan sesuatu dalam bidang yang telah ada
4. Penulisan Karya Ilmiah (Skripsi, Tesis, Disertasi)

PERANAN PENELITIAN

1. Pemecahan Masalah, meningkatkan kemampuan untuk menginterpretasikan fenomena-fenomena dari suatu masalah yang kompleks dan kait-mengkait;
2. Memberikan jawaban atas pertanyaan dalam bidang yang diajukan, meningkatkan kemampuan untuk menjelaskan atau menggambarkan fenomena-fenomena dari masalah tersebut;
3. Mendapatkan pengetahuan / ilmu baru :

PERSYARATAN PENELITIAN :

1. Mengikuti konsep ilmiah
2. Sistematis/Pola tertentu
3. Terencana

Penelitian dikatakan baik bila :

1. Purposiveness, Tujuan yang jelas;
2. Exactitude, Dilakukan dengan hati-hati, cermat, teliti;
3. Testability, Dapat diuji atau dikaji;
4. Replicability, Dapat diulang oleh peneliti lain;
5. Precision and Confidence, Memiliki ketepatan dan keyakinan jika dihubungkan dengan populasi atau sampel;
6. Objectivity, Bersifat objektif;
7. Generalization, Berlaku umum;
8. Parismony, Hemat, tidak berlebihan;
9. Consistency, data/ungkapan yang digunakan harus selalu sama bagi kata/ungkapan yang memiliki arti sama;

5. Memilih pendekatan; metode atau cara penelitian, jenis / tipe penelitian : sangat menentukan variabel apa, objeknya apa, subjeknya apa, sumber datanya di mana;
6. Menentukan variabel dan Sumber data; Apa yang akan diteliti? Data diperoleh dari mana?
7. Menentukan dan menyusun instrumen; apa jenis data, dari mana diperoleh? Observasi, interview, kuesioner?

9. Analisis data; memerlukan ketekunan dan pengertian terhadap data. Apa jenis data akan menentukan teknis analisisnya

Seguir consumiendo, sí, de eso se trata. Pero de forma responsable. Nadie va a pedirle peras al olmo. En pleno siglo XXI, intentar que la población en general -y los habitantes de las grandes ciudades en particular- dejen de consumir y se pongan a arar un huerto para plantar cuatro patatas es absurdo. Lo que no lo es tanto es intentar reajustar determinados hábitos a la hora de consumir. Y eso es lo que vamos a intentar desde Mediat-e-consumo.

Consumo responsable es aquel que se adapta a nuestras necesidades reales y colabora, a su vez, con la conservación del medio ambiente y la igualdad social. Sin embargo, la cima de nuestra escala de valores -la escala de valores del “primer mundo“- sitúa al consumo desmesurado en palco-preferente-tendido-sombra. Somos, como algunos dicen, la “generación de usar y tirar“. En este sentido, la publicidad tiene un papel preferente , decisivo y dañino en nuestros hábitos. Bajo el supuesto manto del bienestar nos venden -y, por supuesto, compramos- cientos de productos que nos convierten únicamente en consumidores pasivos.

Así, para abordar la tarea del consumo responsable tal y como lo hemos definido necesitaremos abarcar tres vertientes: primero, un consumo racional y ético, en el que nosotros decidamos qué consumimos y cuándo lo haremos; segundo, un consumo ecológico, con la ‘Regla de las tres erres‘ como eje principal; y, tercero y último, un consumo social, que abordará el proceso de producción y las condiciones laborales en las que son elaborados los bienes de consumo, y cuyo objetivo final será el pagar de manera justa por un trabajo realizado en condiciones dignas.

La tarea no es sencilla, pero para decidir hay que conocer. Nosotros pondremos los datos sobre la mesa. Ustedes, en conciencia, deberán elegir.

Several weeks ago I was listening to Film Buff’s forecast when one of the reviewers (the delightfully voiced Simone Ubaldi) was describing an upcoming interactive arty ‘piece’ that the good folk at the Small Change Theatre Company were to stage in the Melbourne Fringe Festival. The normally unflappable Paul Harris was lost for words as he tried to comprehend the very nature of the beast that was to be Letters to Isaac, and justifiably so. I too have had difficulty in describing what it is/was to my friends and more often than not just simply show them one of the texted  letters from my mobile phone and let them figure it out for themselves.

Cast and crew credits

The basic premise of Letters to Isaac is somewhat Swiftian in it’s style and setting. Our protagonist is lost in foreign lands, not unlike Gulliver himself, where he is held hostage or just up to no good. He sends a series of letters back to his school yard chum, Isaac, and it is through these letters-sent to via mobile phone or facebook account- that we learn of his travails and adventures. One letter a day is sent, culminating in a live performance with the final letters acted out in front of our very eyes.

The first 100 signed up disciples were invited to attend the event and being one of the selected few I brought a friend along and had a thoroughly good time. I will not go into the intricacies of the storyline because I wouldn’t be able to do it justice and would end up tying myself in narrative knots for my troubles. I would suggest that you click on the link here or the link up there near the top of the page and start with the first letter. When you are done I’ll be down below yapping on about the after show party.

I will however point out that one of the actors portraying a libidinous Zagame, a rather statuesque Argentinian by the name of Hernan Palacio, was endowed with the most grotesque and monumental appendage that would make a Melbourne Cup winner blush, which had the ladies in the audience quite excited and giggly. I think it was his thrusting motions towards Roxby which were responsible for much of the womens’ hysteria.

The show itself lasted less than an hour but gave me hours of amusement during the preceding 2 weeks and then entertained for another hour as we mingled with the  cast and crew at the after show bar. It was at the bar while availing of the cheap glasses of Schampoo that I encountered the misguided and unrepentant Roxby Greenstone himself.

I am generally not the type to get my picture taken with actors or popettes but now and again I will break with family  tradition and indulge my common self. I might add that I add previously consumed a near half dozen glasses of Hoegaarden as well as a brace of Jameson’s on ice which had the effect of making me rather jovial and somewhat brazen in my approach to Mr Greenstone who is really the much talented and modest Bo Svoronos, the writer and creator of the show thingamyjig.

Throughout the evening myself and my companion had pleasured ourselves with the lazy and voyeuristic art of people watching and the pot pourri of assembled Arty Farts  did not disappoint. I always marvel at the body language on display at such events and the cast glances are a joy to behold when spotted in mid flight. Of particular note was the general level of homosexuality and lesbianism on display, not unusual for the arts, and the usual preening and chatting up of unsuspecting victims.

At one stage I was given the eye by a lady who could scarce afford to considering she only had one eye on show as the other one was covered with a classic black pirate-like patch. I will add that she was not in buccaneer costume but normal arts precinct wear with the customary red jacket or shoes and a knitted berret/beanie yokeymajig.

Elsewhere this week I was treated to the sight of several of Melbourne’s graceful ‘globe aérostatiques’, or hot air balloons for the non-francophiles amongst us, as I drove to work down Lygon street. This is not an uncommon occurrence but what pleased me was their proximity to my back yard and local coffee shop. Luckily for me I was stopped at a set of amenable traffic lights and had the presence of mind to have my camera on hand.

Globe Aerostatiques

This week I have been working in Ascot Vale so my drive to work has taken me  along Brunswick rd, the glorious globes were seemingly aware of this and followed me to work. Ah, the simple pleasures in life.

In the days before the Politically Correct brigade of fecking eejits started interfering with people’s lives it was not uncommon to see products like this:

Baked fresh daily for 45 minutes at gas mark 6.

but instead we are responsible for the following highbrow pursuits:

Quentche, minha gentche!!!

Hoje em dia rola de tudo por aí. No que diz respeito a festas temos bares secretos, festas em suites de motel, houses parties surpresa e por aí vai. Seguindo a onda, e ainda aproveitando o domingão véspera de feriado, nós da Funhell nos unimos ao Roots Rock Revolution e aceitamos o convite para fazer uma festa na Nova Babilônia (Rua Augusta, 781). O local, para os que não conhecem, é um night club com meninas fazendo shows, dançando no mastro… uma maravilha. Alguns chamam a casa de puteiro, mas não vamos entrar neste mérito.

Bom, algumas vezes por mês, a Nova Babilônia dá uma folga para suas funcionárias e recebe projetos diferenciados para animar a noite e é aí que entramos. Juntamente com Fábio Smeili e Willian Mexicano vamos esquentar a noite e a pista espelhada do lugar e fazer todo mundo esquecer que domingo é domingo. O bom é que vai dar pra aproveitar bastante e curtir a segunda, feriado da Independência, com uma ressaquinha boa daquelas. Detalhe… o acesso aos quartos costuma ser liberado quando o lugar fica cheio. Vale a pena visitar, antropologicamente falando.
