I went around to Silvermoon this morning to find an RSP that had mostly OOC information in it for my next entry. I found one, actually, and was very happy with what I found! What a perfect choice! I grinned and Screenshotted the blood elf warlock’s OOC bullcrap.

Alright! The normal wharrgarbl of “I am an elite role player and I will not do these sort of things so don’t come near me. Also, I spell magic with a K because I am totally a Wiccan in real life!” Perfect. Just what I needed for my OOC post about being OOC in RSP.

But then, I looked at her name. Kayla. I worked with a girl named Kayla. Hendrix? Like that old LSD using guy that made some really good music? I’m pretty sure that doesn’t sound Elven. Oh well, guess she just couldn’t think of a good last name using the typical blood elf pattern of VerbNoun or visa versa.

I kept reading past the OOC parts. Surely, she was an esteemed role player, since she had such high standards for the role play she will participate in, right?

Looks like we have a Mary Sue here, ladies and gentlemen!

I have respect for Blizzard’s Lore, they have been working on it for 15 years now, most likely even longer. I play by the lore, my characters are people in this world and they are not characters but real people in this twisted, war torn world. This whole concept seems to take away from that whole idea.

It also rapes lore like a female character in one of Toni Morrison’s novels. (Okay, that joke is credited to Varendil.) EDIT: The women get raped in Toni Morrison books. And stop stealing all my good jokes! Although you linked my story, so I’ll forgive you.

Spilling Mountain Dew on the computer and waking up in the video game you’re playing? Light, why does this sound SO FAMILIAR? Protip: If you want to make a “Unique and special” backstory for your character, make sure it isn’t the plot from an anime first.

Let’s see what else we got here:

• Talking about her weight and of course, her chest. BUT IT’S NOT OKAY TO LOOK GUIS, SURE SHE’S TOP HEAVY BUT DON’T YOU LOOK OR I’LL SHADOWBOLT YOU!
• Singing metal lyrics around Silvermoon? Not sure if  “Hammer Smashed Face” has any real lyrics to it..even if this video is telling me otherwise.
• She’s calm, cool and collected..BUT SHE HAS A TEMPER SO SHE WON’T BE A VICTIM, OKAY?!
• Two bumps on her brow? This can only mean HORNS~ (Looks like SOMEONE finished their Maghar quests!)

“I’m actually a human girl from Cali who of course, loves WoW so much and is totally single, but now I am INSIDE of it and totally hot and unique and one of those mysterious warlock chicks because I was such a bad ass skater girl who played video games before I got sucked away into a magical world…did I mention I have huge tits? But don’t you dare look at them, I am a single warlock who is totally TURNING into a demon. Don’t you see the horns!?”

Ya know, reading over this again, I can’t even comment any more. Maybe I’ll just hand this off to Varendil so he can have fun with it. I’m utterly spent by this bullcrap.

These are the RSPs that make me regret throwing away that old vodka.

I don’t have much to add. First, it’s nice to see that Kayla’s RSP is brought to you by Mountain Dew. Do the Dew.

Second, there are so many Hendrix references that Lan missed. The fact that she’s a foxy lady, that she clearly burned the midnight lamp thinking of this story, and, of course, The Wind Cries Mary Sue. There’s also a reference to the Western Plaguelands quest All Along the Watchtowers to be made, but I’m too lazy to contrive it.

Third, and this is true of lots of people, not just Miss Kayla Sue: Nobody cares what ’song relates to her the most.’ I mean, we already know you’re metal because you DRINK MOUNTAIN DEW and HAET TWILIGHT, plus the fact that you’re GROWING HORNS so we don’t need to see that you’re into the Guitar Hero nemeses that are Dragonforce.

Oh, and humans don’t grow bigger breasts upon becoming blood elven.

My advice for the future, Ms. Hendrix? Roleplay isn’t always about just being the person you wish you could be, at least so blatantly. I don’t wish I was Varendil, because I’m still young and have no kids IRL. Varendil’s merely a person I’m interested in, fascinated by, and that makes it easier to get under his skin and roleplay him. No one’s interested in Kayla Hendrix the human blood elf gone wrong thing, no matter how passive-aggressively you tell us to look at her breasts.

I also don’t get how a Mary Sue can hate Twilight when Bella’s the biggest one of all. Maybe in the same way homophobes are also more likely to harbor homoerotic urges of their own.

P.S.: You said pensieve when you meant pensive. Harry Potter’s not very metal, miss Dragonforce.

Sometimes, in the world of Azeroth, we find amazing little gems. Sometimes we find amazing things, like fantastic role players with RSPs that only describe the appearance of their character..Or we find people like this. Reveiena Ravensstar Everblade.

For our first RSP, I went to Goldshire on my level 58 DK.  I went there not to role play like every other level 58 death knight (Clad in black mageweave and the like), but to find a good first RSP…and after a while, I did.

Now, there are a few things that make a Mary Sue and a bad RSP stand out from the rest.

• Using words that would most likely describe an emotion to describe eyes.
• “Extremely”,  “More than Others” “*Person or thing* always feel”
• Your or you
• “Asscheek”
• The word “asscheek” again.

Looks like Miss Ravenstar has all those and more! She also has

• Spelling errors, not just one or two, but from what I can see, over twenty.
• Relationship Status right at the beginning, so you know if you can hit that.
• Explaining things that can not be seen on a person, like personality or some type of lore.
• Butchering lore to make a character even more “unique”

Now, I’m not the most amazing role player. Long ago, when  I began to start making backstories for my characters, my humans was half Night Elf, then I learned lore and she became a half Quel’Dorei. I don’t role play her anymore, though I have made the character into a Human Death Knight. But even in my noobishness of the Role Playing world, I never once made a character who had things on her ass-cheeks. Even if she did, no one would ever see them.

Nor have I had any character that had a tattoo that was imbued with such magics that allows a person to see someone else’s “Intentions”. How does that even WORK in an RP Situation? I would think it would require some OOC communications, yes?

‘((My character is blind, but she has a special tattoo that allows me to ’see’ your character’s intentions when this mark takes over. Please, tell me what your character is intending to do so I can role play this out.))’

I think that most normal, good role players would say something to the effect of..
‘((lolno.))’

…which would cause a shitstorm of unneeded OOC drama.

‘((But this is my character, I will play her like I want, it’s my 15 dollars a month tell me what your character’s intentions are!!!11))’

Or something along those lines. It’s not needed. If you have to EXPLAIN something to someone you are role playing with to make your role play work, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

That is what is wrong with Miss Ravensstar here. A combination of Mary Sue Beauty even though she’s a totally bitch who will “Ripe your spine out” if you touch her, blindness with a sixth sense, auras, and god-mode like role play with having certain classes “always feel” something around her.

Thankfully, in her tag, she has ((Dead on the 30th)) which means the character no longer exists! Rejoice!

 Recently I met a client and found out that he had 5 endowment plans! He is currently paying close to $1000 per month for just his endowment plans and he was complaining that he was ‘overloaded’ and had a hard time paying for his premiums. I asked him why he choose to buy so many endowment plans in the first place and he said his insurance adviser told him these endowment plans are for his retirement savings. What is wrong here?

Firstly, is buying just endowment plans the ideal way for saving for retirement? I beg to differ. If you compare the projected returns of an endowment plan and a RSP into unit trusts over a period of 10 to 20 years, the RSP almost always win. It is normal for RSPs to achieve an annualised return of around 10%, if the adviser manage it competently. But for endowments, a return of 6% is considered very, very rare. On top of that, a client is paying up to 50% of the first year premuims in commissions for endowments while for RSPs, it is only 3%. If you understand the law of compounding, you would have realized how much difference the amount at maturity will be due to the commissions lost.

If you invest $100 per month into an endowment that gives an average of 5% per year (considered very ambitious), you would get back $40k at the end of 20 years. But if you invest $100 per month into a RSP that gives an avergae of 10% per year (possible if the adviser take care of the portfolio well), you would get back $70k at the end of 20 years. That is close to 100% difference!

On top of that, many insurance advisers did not point out that the client can lose up to 100% of the premiums paid if he/she surrender the policy in the first 2 years! Many advisers simply pin-point how much money the client can make at maturity and did not state clearly how much money the client can lose if he/she choose to surrender the policy. Many of them preached endowmnet plans to be very good saving plans but where is the liquidity? As a customer, you are not able to withdraw the money as and when you wish! Unlike a RSP, there is no lock-in period and you are free to choose when to sell and when to buy without any penalty.

But wait! Does it mean that endowments are useless?

NO! Endowment plans have their many uses too. Firstly, endowment offers DISCIPLINE. Investment require time and discipline to make the money grow. If your money is locked up in an endowment plan, you would definitely think twice before withdrawing the funds, because doing so would result in big losses. But for RSPs, you can choose not to pay anytime if you are not able to afford, or you simply don’t feel like doing it. But wait, is this always a good thing?

The answer is NO! Without discipline, RSPs may not work. If a person only chooses to invest in a bull market, and when a bear market comes, he becomes fearful and chooses not to invest and decided to withraw the moeny instead, he is obviously losing money by buying high and selling low. Obviously, endowment plans will be better off in this context as they instil discipline and help customers ride out the market cycles.

As we can see, there is a tradeoff between liquidity and discipline. So for the ill-disciplined, liquidity may not always be a good thing! They might be better off buying an endowment instead. But for illiquid investments like endowments, it is especially important that the investor does not over-commit by biting off more that he can chew. Because he maybe forced to reverse his positions at a loss when he requires his funds urgently.

Endowment plans also require minimal monitoring. That is why they are good for ‘lazy people’. But rebalancing is necessay for RSPs to work. It require an active management and not simply the ‘buy and hold long-term’ approach. Why? Becasue a crisis can simply wipe out your retiremnet funds if you do not protect your capital. The last financial crisis wiped out 10 years of profits that the STI make. Mnay people planning to retire in 2008 faced the harsh reality of seeing their retirement dreams disappear.

Therefore, it is wise to seek the help of a competent adviser to take care of your portfolio. As retirement age approaches, he/she should be liquidating a portion of the RSP and switching it to bonds and other low-risk investments to protect your funds. I strongly advise to seek the help of an IFA (Independent Financial Adviser) who has access to many fund houses and who is not biased towards any company. If you seek the help of a tied agent or banker, they maybe limited by the products their companies can offer them and hence, do not have access to many other instruments out there to take care of your portfolio.

To plan for retirement, be clear of what your financial goal is. Know the pros and cons of both endowments and RSPs, and utilise a combintation of both to expliot both of their strengths in reaching your financial goal.

Desde o lançamento de seu 1º single, “A Street Story” em dezembro de 2006, o RSP começou a se destacar no cenário pop da música japonesa. O grupo participou de um documentário e, posteriormente, desempenhou um papel importante na produção de um programa de tv intitulado “Street Dance Drama”.

Mas o sucesso venho mesmo em agosto de 2007 com o lançamento de seu segundo single, o “Lifetime Respect ~Onna Hen~” que atingiu a #4 do chart de singles da Oricon e ao todo vendeu mais de 118.000 cópias, sendo o #69 single mais vendido de 2007.

O grupo também já forneceu uma música para ser tema de um anime. “Kansha”, o terceiro single deles, foi tema de encerramento do anime Bleach e foi lançado como single em fevereiro de 2008.

O single mais recente lançado pelo grupo foi em junho deste ano, o “Anma ~Haha Uta~”, mas não teve um bom desempenho em suas vendas. Agora, no dia 21 de Outubro, o RSP irá lançar o seu oitavo single! “Koi Aita ~Ano Hi ni Kaeritai” é uma canção de amor que fala sobre os pontos fortes e fracos de um relacionamento. Além desta canção, o single ainda virá com mais duas faixas: as b-sides “Mikadzuki” e “Kisetsu no Kioku”. A versão limitada do single virá com um DVD contendo filmagens do programa “Special -RSP Nakeru kara yta-Kyoto-” que foi ao ar na MUSIC ON! TV no mês de junho.

Eu gostei bastante de “Koi Aita ~Ano Hi ni Kaeritai”. Achei ela uma música bem legalzinha! O PV eu não entendi muito bem, mas parece que ele conta a história daquela jovem que aparece nele! Mais ele é bem regular, nada demais.

They’re all over the news, everyone you know says they own one (or some). But if you don’t know where to get one, then you just don’t.

Mutual funds are available from several places: banks, trust companies, independent dealers, and private money managers. These companies all have salespeople working for them, advisors,brokers,planners, agents, etc. If you happen to be walking by an office that says ’so-and-so, CFP’ on the door, that’s good too. Keep in mind that anyone in the industry will be happy to speak with you, and get you started on building your mutual fund assets.

Mutual funds are not exclusive to people that already ‘have money’ in fact, they are built by design to help grow wealth over time. That’s why they’re called mutual funds, because people invest together to create a large investment fund.

So all of the purchasers (or investors) are putting in a bit of money every month (or once per paycheque, or every other month, etc) over time building up their holdings. Anywhere from 25 to $500 is standard. If you decide to have a few different funds, then likely a smaller monthly amount goes to each one.

DJ Yigyutgd is a very prominent DJ on youtube and this isn’t new news but it’s still awesome all the same. His second album dubbed, “World’s Collide” as a mashup of remixes featuring English Vs. Asian songs.

It’s just occurred to me that I haven’t written anything useful recently. Well you never know, this might not be either.

 Recently on Sexyloops there was a comment that the Five Essentials are really only four, ”The rod tip must track in a straight line” (we call this straight line path btw, or SLP for short) is the objective and all the other ones ( Pause, Power application, No slack and Variable casting angle) are the things that must be done properly to achieve it. I don’t see it like that at all. If you don’t get the rod tip tracking straight in the first place then getting the other’s right won’t save the day, they all have to combine.

 SLP is a confusing concept because it is multi dimensional. We are not just talking about 180 deg back to front we are also talking about creating a horizontal straight line as well, which involves loading the rod appropriately for the amount of line you are casting. To add the confusion horizontal SLP is recognised as an ideal to strive for, in the hope you never quite achieve it, because if you did achieve it the line would just pile into the rod tip. In reality the tip path is always slightly domed and the difference between the top of the dome and rod straight position (RSP), where the line overtakes itself and forms the loop, plus a bit of rod rebound, ie, the bit where the rod tip goes beyond RSP and then comes back again, is the width that the loop will be. Confused? you should be sitting where I am!

 So how do you work out this concept? I try and imagine I am trying to fire a loop down a 24” diameter tube 10′ long, suspended at casting height, without the line touching the sides. Now you can see that if the vertical tracking is out then the fly leg and rod leg won’t be parallel and the fly leg will rub the inside of the tube and if the horizontal SLP is not right you won’t create a loop tight enough to squeeze through the tube.

 OK, I now accept that the Five Essentials do have an order and ”The rod tip must track in a straight line” should be number one on the list but I do not accept that the other four are subordinate to it.

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 4 (PTI) Revolutionary Socialist Party, a constituent in the ruling LDF in Kerala, today criticised the functioning of the state government.

Left parties had drifted from the tribals, working class and marginalised sections, RSP general secretary T J Chandrachoodan said at a meeting of the party’s trade wing.

Referring to the situation in Kerala, he said the government “failed” to take note of the growth of radical outfits like Dalit Human Rights Movement whose activists had recently been arrested in connection with the murder of a person at nearby Varkala.

On Thekkady tourist boat tragedy that claimed 45 lives, he said it the state government has appointed commissions to probe into the accident.

When doing tax returns, I’m often asked by clients about rsp loans, a question which is more commonly phrased as ‘How do I pay less taxes?!’

Do I hear someone out there saying ‘that’s me’? It would be reasonable to estimate that thirty percent of the people I’ve done tax for haven’t heard the details on how it works, so you aren’t alone. Many Canadians do not know what an rsp is, so go ahead and feel better.

An rsp is an account where the government says you can save money for your retirement, and as a benefit, you do not have to pay tax on the dollars that you contribute to the account. The way that they manage this is to print you a receipt when you put money in (unsurprisingly called a contribution receipt). The receipt goes to the taxman, then to the Canada Revenue Agency. When the CRA gets it, they see how much was deducted from your paycheque and give it back.

So, two important things: 1 if you owe tax on other stuff, that will be subtracted first before you receive any ‘cash back’. The second, even more important, is that its ok to borrow money to make a contribution. That’s what an rsp loan does.

How can you benefit from this? The basic and best strategy is to borrow some money for your rsp account, and when you get your tax refund pay down the loan. This way the money is in your account collecting interest immediately, but you wait until the government refund cheque comes to pay down the loan. Note that the cheque will only be a portion, not the whole amount. You can make small monthly payments on the leftover amount.

To quote my colleague: “Easy Peasy!”

When you contribute money to an rsp, you receive a tax deduction. This effectively means that no income tax is paid on those earnings. This government incentive to save has been partially successful in preparing canadians for retirement. One of the reasons for this is that when the individual retires and begins to withdraw funds for living, it is taxable as income!

While there is certainly no better option available to canadian families in their accumulation years, when it comes time to retire, you certainly don’t want to end up giving more than necessary to the taxman. I.e. Your mandatory minimum withdrawal amount is $40,000 or greater.

Well, what to do? You ask.

The rsp meltdown is a structured method of normalizing your post-retirement cash flow into a lower federal tax bracket – 15%. Taking the calculation for annual minimum withdrawals, ballpark 3% of the full account market value; it will be straightforward to estimate the required amount against the tax rate. Then make the determination on account reduction values required, and determine when and where to take them.

Take money out before retirement? Heresy!

This is the bump in the road for the strategy. Actually taking money from your rsp, and paying tax on the amount is only possible if the investor understands that it’s better now than later. And the truth is, it is only better under a few circumstances. If the plan is made and the advisor is actively looking for chances to take advantage of tax opportunities that arise, then perfect… There is a chance that you can float into retirement living on a 15% tax rate, with everyone else paying the 29 plus provincial (the mythical ontario 45%).

What chances, opportunities?

During the course of a lifetime, investors will come across large tax writeoffs or deductions, for many reasons. When they occur, you can withdraw money from the rsp (increasing the tax amount) without increasing the tax burden – net neutral on the tax return. This will allow the investor to pay their taxes before retirement, leaving the funds in a TFSA for example, or to purchase an income producing property. Even if they stuff the cash under the mattress, they pay less tax out of retirement assets.

Since these summaries are prepared after January 1, it is not possible to make an RSP contribution after receicing your total tax paid for last year … Or is it?

The government and CRA recognize the importance of retirement saving, so it is allowable for any RSP contribution made for the first sixty days of 2009 to count for the previous years’ tax return. This is RSP season. The time when Canadians collect their receipts, take them to their tax preparer, and once figuring out any taxes payable, make an rsp contribution to offset it.

April 30 is the tax deadline, so if you receive your T4 in late February, and see the accountant for march, you may need to then speak with the bank for an Rsp contribution loan. Once the loan is funded into the rsp, and you receive the contribution receipt (T4RSP); then you go back to the accountant, who can finish your taxes and submit to CRA.

Tip: Don’t waste time on this process. Everyone else is trying to see these tax prep folks and accountants and they only get busier and busier. If you miss the deadline and you owe, 1 day late costs a 5% penalty, and add on another 1% per month afterwards.
