Según un informe conjunto que la Organización Mundial de la Salud, el Banco Mundial y las Naciones Unidas presentaron el pasado miércoles -titulado Vacunas e inmunización: situación mundial-, la inmunización de recién nacidos en los países más pobres del mundo sigue siendo insuficiente. A pesar de haber alcanzado los niveles más altos hasta la fecha, con 106 millones de dosis el año pasado, siguen faltando al menos 24 millones de vacunas.

El resultado de esta falta son más de dos millones de muertes infantiles que se podrían evitar si se contara con la prevención adecuada, ya que uno de cada cinco bebés en el mundo no es vacunado de enfermedades que, aunque residuales en los países desarrollados, siguen matando a miles de personas en muchas zonas del mundo. Entre estas patologías cabe destacar la rubeola, la meningitis o la gripe común.

Se calcula que para cubrir la demanda, las instituciones internacionales deberían invertir algo más de 1.000 millones de dólares (unos 700 millones de euros). En la última década, el mercado de las vacunas ha ido en aumento. En el año 2000, el gasto por niño en países subdesarrollados o en vías de desarrollo era de seis dólares (cuatro euros), mientras que en este momento se acerca, según el citado informe, a unos dieciocho dólares (doce euros); lo que supone unos 11.000 millones de euros anuales.

Para sufragar estos gastos nació en el año 2000 la Alianza Mundial para Vacunas e Inmunización, creada por Unicef, la OMS, el Banco Mundial y la Fundación Bill y Melinda Gates. Sin embargo, la ayuda sigue sin llegar a muchos países que no cumplen con los requisitos mínimos para su aplicación.

San José (Costa Rica), 26 de agosto del 2009 (OPS) – Actualmente, en las Américas, la transmisión de la rubéola está limitada a un solo país, y los casos de sarampión solamente se introducen desde fuera del continente americano, según revelaron expertos en vacunación  reunidos durante cuatro días para revisar los avances y los desafíos en el control de enfermedades prevenibles mediante vacunación.

Los participantes también instaron a los países a que se preparen para administrar la vacuna antigripal pandémica, cuyo suministro se prevé escaso durante las fases iniciales de su producción.

El Grupo Técnico Asesor sobre Enfermedades Prevenibles por Vacunación de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud organizó la reunión de esta semana para tratar el tema “Vacunación: dar prioridad a las poblaciones vulnerables”. Unos 200 expertos de toda América analizan los logros, los temas pendientes en materia de vacunación, los futuros retos de las nuevas vacunas y los procedimientos para acelerar el avance en el control de las enfermedades prevenibles mediante vacunación.

El doctor Cuauhtémoc Ruiz, asesor principal de la OPS en materia de inmunización, afirmó: “Dadas las limitaciones del suministro de la vacuna contra la gripe pandémica (H1N1) 2009 en las etapas iniciales de su producción, los Estados Miembros tendrán que dar prioridad a los grupos de riesgo, un proceso que implica consideraciones científicas, logísticas, éticas, morales, culturales y legales”.

La subdirectora de la OPS, doctora Socorro Gross, señaló que, según los cálculos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, probablemente se dispondrá de 2.400 millones de dosis de vacuna contra la gripe pandémica (H1N1) 2009 dentro de seis meses, y de 4.900 millones de dosis tras un año de producción. Sin embargo, también observó que estas cifras pueden cambiar y que ya se ha comprometido la adquisición de grandes cantidades de vacunas mediante acuerdos de compra avanzada. Afirmó que, en los próximos meses, será fundamental mantener una vigilancia adecuada y determinar los grupos de riesgo que deberán vacunarse primero, tales como el personal sanitario, y añadió que la OPS está estudiando los posibles medios para ampliar la producción de vacunas con objeto de poder garantizar la equidad y el acceso universal.

Como parte de las actividades de apoyo a sus países miembros para afrontar la pandemia (H1N1), la OPS ha elaborado y distribuido un Plan Regional de Vacunación contra la Gripe Pandémica, que incluye medidas para fortalecer la vacunación antigripal estacional. La OPS insta a los países a que fijen sus propias estrategias de vacunación y sus propias prioridades en cuanto a grupos destinatarios.

El doctor Ruiz observó que “Aunque existan pocos datos probatorios de que las vacunas contra la gripe estacional confieran protección cruzada contra la gripe pandémica (H1N1) 2009, es esencial fortalecer la vacunación contra la gripe estacional con objeto de reducir la carga de morbilidad y evitar la circulación simultanea de cepas de virus de la gripe estacional y de la gripe pandémica (H1N1) 2009”.

El doctor Ciro de Quadros, presidente del grupo consultivo técnico, señaló que, en la Región de las Américas, se interrumpió la circulación endémica del virus del sarampión en el 2002 y que, desde el 2009, la transmisión endémica de la rubéola se ha limitado a un solo país, gracias a la promoción y ejecución de estrategias exitosas de vacunación contra el sarampión y la rubéola.

El doctor de Quadros afirmó que, en el 2008, los países de toda la Región ya habían introducido la vacuna combinada contra el sarampión y la rubéola (SR) en sus programas ordinarios de vacunación, y ello proporcionaba protección contra ambas enfermedades a unos 440 millones de personas. Sin embargo, quedan aún muchos retos pendientes, incluidos el riesgo permanente de importaciones y de propagación secundaria, la prevención y la respuesta ante los eventuales brotes, y el garantizar la vigilancia de calidad y la capacidad en materia de laboratorios como base de datos probatorios para las actividades de eliminación.

El sarampión y la rubéola siguen siendo endémicos en todas las Regiones de la OMS, a excepción de las Américas. Dado el gran número de viajeros internacionales que visitan la Región de las Américas cada año y la facilidad con que se transmiten ambas enfermedades por vía respiratoria, el riesgo de importaciones sigue siendo alto. En el primer trimestre del 2009, se han notificado 11 nuevos brotes de sarampión en todo el mundo, cuatro de ellos en países de la Región de las Américas como resultado de importaciones.

En una ceremonia celebrada en el Teatro Nacional el primer día de la reunión, los miembros del grupo técnico y otros expertos presentaron tres publicaciones y un certificado de reconocimiento al Presidente de Costa Rica, Oscar Arias. El Presidente elogió el trabajo de la Organización Panamericana de la Salud para promover la eliminación de las enfermedades prevenibles mediante vacunación, y señaló que la viruela ahora solo existe en los libros de Historia.

Arias afirmó: “Gracias al trabajo de científicos brillantes y políticos responsables, palabras tales como sarampión o rubéola probablemente solo existirán en los libros de historia de nuestros nietos”.

In the distant past (or so it seems now), I wrote a post in which I listed some goals I hoped to achieve. Believe it or not, I’ve been plugging away at those goals and I can now report that some of them have been achieved. And, I have one new goal to add.

I’ll start with what I’ve achieved.

One of my goals has been to acquire 50 mounts and then get the Albino Drake that comes with the corresponding achievement. As you can see from the screenshot above, Rubeola is now the proud owner of one Albino Drake. I was going to wait on this for her to become a Champion of the Alliance, because I thought I’d need all of the mounts from all races before I could get to 50. But when 3.2 hit, the cost of all racial mounts was reduced quite a bit, and I suddenly found myself going on a mount buying spree. And then I thought, what the heck, I’ll go ahead and buy the rest of the Netherwings I didn’t have (which were still 200g a pop) and the rest of the Talbuks as well. And before I knew it, I hit 50 mounts and got the achievement.

The next step, of course, would be to shoot for 100. I think that’s largely out of reach for me, though, because to get to 100 would require picking up all of the special mounts that can only be obtained from instance runs and raiding and I’m not likely to get any of those. But I’m still going to continue to add mounts to my collection and we will see where things go.

Speaking of adding new mounts to my collection, I’ve already added one important new mount: the Engineering Flying Machine mount. You might remember that another of my goals is to become an Engineer and attempt to build a Mekgineer’s Chopper. I’ve taken the first step. I’ve dropped Mining and replaced it with Engineering. And I’ve managed to level Engineering high enough (300, as of 3.2) to build a Flying Machine. With just a bit more effort, I’ll be able to build the turbo version as well. It’s going to be a while before I can build the chopper, though. First I need to get my Engineering to 450, which will be a bit of work itself. Then I need to save up something on the order of 12,000g in order to buy all the materials to build the chopper. I expect several months at least before I’m to that point.

Another goal on my list was to get to Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance on at least one toon. I had thought I would do this on Veleni. But it now looks like I’m spending all my time working on this with Rubeola. Unfortunately, Rubeola is at something of a disadvantage with this achievement. Being a Death Knight, she doesn’t get Argent Crusade rep for completing tournament quests. She gets Ebon Blade rep instead. So to get exalted with the AC, she’s going to have to do the dippy Pa’Troll quest every day for the next several weeks. I’m not a fan of that quest and its parts. Especially the one offered by Alchemist Finklestein.

As you can see from the above screenshot, I have also achieved my goal of getting a flying carpet. I was planning to craft it with Lyune, my priest, but I ended up crafting it with Marol, my warlock. I find I’m playing Marol more than Lyune, so she just happened to get her tailoring to 410 first. I assume Lyune will get to craft a flying carpet at some point, of course, but the goal was to craft a flying carpet, and I can now check that goal off the list.

As I indicated at the beginning of this post, I’m adding a new goal to my list of goals: level at least one Horde character to 80. I’ve been struggling with this for a while, actually. I don’t quite know why it should be so hard. I enjoy leveling Horde as much as I do Alliance, but for some reason I can’t quite stick with one Horde character long enough to get all the way to 80. Lately I’ve been playing Orgaria, my warlock, quite a bit, and I think she has the best chance of making it all the way to 80. She’s already 74 and has even visited Dalaran. I’ll keep you posted on her progress.

As you can see from the screenshot, I’m giving dual-wielding a try on Rubeola. So far, so good. The reason for the experiment isn’t because I now hate Unholy. I think Unholy is still my favorite spec. And truth be told, I’m already missing my ghoul (not for his damage, but for his sparkling wit). But I thought with the changes to Frost to facilitate dual-wielding that have been introduced in the 3.2 patch, this was as good a time as any to try something new.

Actually, I decided to blow 1000g for Dual Spec so that I could play around with one spec while leaving my original Unholy spec alone. It was, perhaps, a frivolous use of 1000g. I could have just spent the 50g, or whatever it is these days, to spec one way, and then another 50g to spec back (or to something else). But I figured I might have a need for two specs anyway (DPS and tanking, or PVE and PVP, or who knows), so what the heck.

I’m using a 53/18 Frost spec that I found in a forum post on the DK forums. This particular spec focuses on Obliterate to be the big damage dealer. Frost Strike appears to be the main runic power dump, though I’m not quite sure yet if I should forgo Death Coil completely in favor of Frost Strike, or if I should mix them up. I need to do a bit more research. Also, I’m not exactly sure the best way to work Howling Blast into my rotation. I’m going to have to experiment a bit to see when and how best to use HB.

Currently, for weapons, I’m using two Reaper of Dark Souls, which can be obtain fairly cheaply from the Ebon Blade quartermaster (assuming you are revered with that faction). I’ve enchanted one blade with Fallen Crusader, and the other with Razorice. I plan to have Rubeola craft herself a Titansteel Bonecrusher as soon as she has enough titansteel. I’m also toying with buying an Ironforge Smasher from the Argent Tournament. They go for 25 Champion’s Seals. Rubeola has enough seals to buy one, but I can’t quite convince myself that it will be enough of an upgrade over her current swords to justify spending the seals. If Rubeola were going into instances and raiding, then yes, the upgrade would be worth it. But I’m not currently doing those things, and mobs die plenty fast with just the two swords.

For glyphs, I’m using Icy Touch,  Obliterate, and Frost Strike.

I’m not sure what to do about my ghoul. I could summon him ever 3 minutes for a 1 minute increase in DPS, perhaps. Is that what Death Knights without Master of Ghouls tend to do? If so, I should probably invest in a Glyph of Raise Dead so I don’t need to worry about lugging around corpse dust wherever I go.

So far, I’m liking new play style of dual-wielding quite a bit. I’m not yet sure that I like it as much as my Unholy build. But it’s new and I need to get used to it a bit more before I can decide.

This post actually has nothing to do with either death or taxes. But that popped into my head when I created the post, so that’s what I used as the title.

What this post does have to do with is Rubeola getting a Talbuk mount by becoming exalted with the Kurenai in Nagrand. Getting to exalted with the Kurenai is surprisingly easy, especially for a level 80 Death Knight. I think Rubeola started out neutral with them. The first order of business was to do absolutely every Kurenai quest I could find that Rubeola hadn’t already done. It turned out that she hadn’t done any of them, which was a little surprising as I thought I would have at least done the first couple of quests in Nagrand before heading to Northrend. But I guess I was so eager to get to Northrend that I dropped everything as soon as I hit 68.

Anyway, upon completing all of the Kurenai quests, Rubeola was revered. Your mileage may very a lot, though. Rubeola is human, so she has what I consider one of the best racials in the game (if you mostly solo, like I do): Diplomacy. Diplomacy gets you an extra 10% rep. Which means that when Rubeola kills an ogre, she gets 11 rep with the Kurenai, instead of 10. And when she hands in 10 beads, she gets 550 rep, instead of 500.

As a side issue, why do humans get Diplomacy? The Orcs seem to me to be a lot more diplomatic. I know. Historically the Orcs weren’t diplomatic at all, being corrupted by demons and such. But they are a lot better now, and I think Thrall is far more the diplomat than the king is. But I digress.

Once Rubeola had finished all the quests she could for the Kurenai (including Durn the Hungerer, which is quite soloable at 80), she started in on killing ogres. 1 ogre gets you 10 rep (or 11 if you are human). Plus, you have a chance to loot Obsidian Warbeads from each ogre killed. Hand in 10 beads and you get another 500 rep (550 if you are human). A level 80 Death Knight with slightly-better-than-crap-gear can generally one or two shot any Nagrand ogre. It helps to be Uhnoly with a ghoul as the ghoul gives you more killing options. If you’re competing with others for ogres to kill, you can start the ghoul on the next ogre while you finish off the current one.

The whole rep grind, from neutral to exalted was just a couple of days. Not bad at all.

Personally, the Talbuk mounts are some of my favorite mounts in the game. As I’ve probably said before, the Undead epic mount is my favorite of the land mounts. But the Talbuk is a close second. The only way that Rubeola can get an Undead mount is from Baron Rivendare, and since I don’t think that’s happening any time soon, I’m going to have to settle for a Talbuk.

One cool thing about getting exalted with the Kurenai (or Mag’har on the Horde side) is that there are a total of 8 mounts that you can buy. That gets you a long way to getting the 50 you need to get an albino drake.

Apparently I’ve been gone for a while. I’ve not really been gone. But I obviously haven’t been updating this weblog. Sorry about that. I’m not promising I’m back. But I thought I might give a bit of an update about what I’ve been up to for the last couple of months.

Except, I’m not going to give much of an update because it’s kind of a secret. Instead, I’ll update what I’ve been up to with Veleni, Rubeola, and Lyune.

I’m afraid I’ve not been up to much of anything with Veleni. I’ve logged in a few times to say high to my guild. But that’s about it.

Rubeola has been spending some time at the Argent Tournament. She has managed to become Rubeola of Darnassus. I had her do a bunch of quests in Teldrassil in order to get to exalted with the Night Elves. I wanted to make sure she was exalted before becoming Valiant of Darnassus, so she could get the title as well. She’s going to work on Exodar next and then the Dwarves. The Gnomes will be last, because getting rep with the Gnomes is the most difficult.

Lyune has done just a very little bit of questing in Howling Fjord. I did a bit of questing with her last night, in fact, and it was a lot of fun. More fun than I remember questing as a Shadow Priest to be. I’m hoping more questing in, but that depends on whether or not I continue to get distracted by my secret project.

O exame da sorologia tem por objetivo dosar dois tipos de moléculas: a IgM e a IgG. A IgM é a molécula que é formada rapidamente no corpo logo após o primeiro contato dele com um bicho (qualquer bicho). É através dessa molécula, formada perfeitamente para aquele determinado bicho, que o corpo organiza o ataque inicial para combater essa determinada infecção. Essa molécula tem como característica ter uma vida curta, assim não durando muito tempo no corpo.

A IgG é uma molécula que demora mais tempo para ser formada, e ela é responsável pelo impedimento da re-infecção por aquele determinado bicho. Ela funciona como soldados especializados no reconhecimento e combate daquele bicho específico, desta forma impedindo que ele cause uma nova infecção, caso entre em contato com o corpo num outro momento.

Existem muitas doenças cujo diagnóstico não é feito pela pesquisa do bicho em si, mas pela pesquisa da presença ou ausência das células que o corpo produz responsáveis pelo combate dessa doença. Esse exame é chamado de sorologia.

Como entender o resultado do exame?

• IgM negativo (não reagente) e IgG positivo (reagente): imune: você já entrou em contato com esse bicho, e já criou defesa contra ele. Portanto, você não tem mais que se preocupar com esse problema.
• IgM positivo (reagente) e IgG negativo (não reagente): infecção aguda: você está com uma infecção por esse bicho, ou seja, você está entrando em contato com ele pela primeira vez. Converse com seu obstetra sobre quais medidas devem ser tomadas.
• IgM e IgG positivos (reagente): indeterminado: não é possível saber há quanto tempo você entrou em contato com esse bicho pela primeira vez. Pode ser há pouco tempo, ou há muito tempo. Converse com seu obstetra sobre quais medidas devem ser tomadas.
• IgM e IgG negativos (não reagente): susceptível: você nunca entrou em contato com esse bicho. Portanto, deve se prevenir para que esse contato não ocorra pela primeira vez durante a gravidez.

“Durante a gestação haverá uma maior necessidade da ingestão de algumas vitaminas e minerais, essenciais para o desenvolvimento e crescimento do bebê e para manter também a saúde da futura mamãe, pois nesse período a mulher sofre grandes perdas nutricionais.”.

O pré-natal, serve para o médico acompanhar a paciente e em toda consulta é indispensável medir a pressão, pois o máximo são 85mm³. O crescimento e desenvolvimento do bebê, os riscos e complicações da gestação é acompanhado através do pré-natal, nesse período que são realizados exames para diagnosticar patologias que podem afetar o bebê ou a mãe. “É através desse acompanhamento que serão relacionadas às mudanças durante o período gestacional.”, afirma Cirlene Araújo. O pré-natal é composto pelos exames de tipagem sanguínea, VDRL (exame de sífilis), o de rubéola, HIV, exame de urina, para prevenir a infecção urinária, pois isso pode causar um parto prematuro, entre outros exames.

Alguns problemas desse período são a diabete e a hipertensão, “A gravidez em si, já tem pré disposição pra ter diabete e hipertensão, porque os hormônios que ajudam a manter a gravidez, são hormônios que diminui a insulina. E em relação a hipertensão, o sangue tem que passar para o neném, então a placenta tem que ser de baixo fluxo, se a placenta tiver uma alta resistência o sangue não passa para o feto. Quando isso ocorre, a mãe diminui o calibre dos vasos para o sangue fluir mais rápido e por isso ocorre a elevação da pressão.”, alerta a médica Roberta Barcelos.

A nutricionista, Jamile Angélica, indica: “Durante a gestação haverá uma maior necessidade da ingestão de algumas vitaminas e minerais, essenciais para o desenvolvimento e crescimento do bebê e para manter também a saúde da futura mamãe, pois nesse período a mulher sofre grandes perdas nutricionais.”. E lembra que deve se fazer um estoque saudável necessário no organismo, pois todas as substâncias boas e inclusive as ruins ingeridas pela mãe passará para o bebê. Cirlene, aboliu da sua vida os refrigerantes, os conservantes, alimentos picantes, fritos e gordurosos e passou a consumir mais sucos naturais, aumentou também a ingestão de folhas verde escuras, como couve, agrião, por serem ricos em Ácido Fólico, vitamina que ajuda no fechamento do tubo neural nas primeiras dez semanas, após esse período não adianta mais consumi-lo, pois o feto já está formado.

“Bebidas alcoólicas, excessos de doces e guloseimas, o uso de cigarros e drogas devem ser retirados, pois influenciará diretamente em distúrbios para o feto, aumentando as chances de morte fetal.”, cita o estudante do 5º semestre de nutrição, Everton da Silva.

Com todos esses cuidados, impossível não completar os noves meses com muita saúde, tanto para a mamãe, quanto para o bebê. “Estou vivendo a melhor fase da minha vida, e nada é capaz de me chatear, nesse momento tão importante.”, diz Cirlene.

Sarampión.=Historia de contacto previo de 9-14 dias  Tres              dias previos con tos seca,fiebre,conjuntivitis,fotofobia            y coriza.

Manchas de Koplik,las cuales son lesiones puntiformes de Color blanquecino,rodeadas de un halo eritematoso ,las     cuales a veces confluyen.aparecen antes de la erupción.

* Erupción maculopapular,confluente la cual se inicia             retroauricular,cara y cuello y se extiende hacia abajo,tronco          y extremidades en 3 dias.Al principio las lesiones son             rojo obscuro,que pierden el color con la presión.No              aparece en palmas de manos o plantas de los pies.Cuando             aparece en extremidades,empieza a desaparecer en las zonas          iniciales.

Complicaciones.=Otitis y Neumonias.Encefalitis,forma hemorrágica.

Durante el embarazo puede dar,trastornos congénitos,o aborto o parto prematuro.

Tratamiento.=Tratar las complicaciones.

Pronóstico.=Dura de 7-10 dias,es autolimitada su evolución

Rubéola.=Incubación de 10-21 dias.

Linfoadenopatía sub-occipitales o retro-auricular la cual se encuentra presente al principio y durante toda la enfermedad.Estos son dolorosos en ocaciones.

La piel es seca y rasposa.

Complicaciones.=Nefritis.

Tratamiento.=Penicilina.

Varicela.=Incubación de 14-16 dias.

Fiebre moderada,mialgias,artralgias,cefalea.

Exantema se inicia en cuero cabelludo y tronco.Lesiones en distintas fases de evolucion en un periodo de 2-6 dias,pápula,vesícula,pústula;pruriginosas.Casi no afecta las extremidades.Se afectan las mucosas.

Complicaciones.=Neumonitis y encefalitis.

Tratamiento.=Locion de calamina ,antihistaminicos.

In January, Ratshag posted a list of goals for 2009. Ever since then he’s been working his way through the list and I think he’s managed to finish almost all of them. The idea of a list of WoW goals seems so good, I think I’m going to steal it. So here, in no particular order, is my list of goals. I don’t promise to finish any of them, or to finish them in any particular timeframe. But I do promise I’ll be thinking of them while I’m no doubt working on other things.

Level a priest to 80. I’ve been threatening to level a priest and I’ve decided it’s time I did it. What about the shaman? I tried to level him, but I found I missed my guild too much to level on another server. I might level an Alliance shaman after the priest. But I’m not making that a goal. I’m actually making some progress on this goal. I had a level 67 Draenei priest languishing in Nagrand and I’ve now managed to level her to 68, get her a hair cut, and move her to Northrend (Howling Fjord). I’m feeling pretty good about leveling her right now, so I think I might have a pretty good shot at getting her to 80.

Get a flying carpet. I’ve been wanting a flying carpet ever since they were introduced in Wrath of the Lich King. As it happens, Lyune is a tailor and since I’m planning to level her to 80 anyway, I hope to get a flying carpet along the way. Of course, I’m going to need to get Artisan Riding first, but that’s just money.

Heal one instance as a priest. This goal is far less attainable for me than you might think. I’m terrified of PUGs. And my guild is really bad about scheduling regular instance runs. So it’s kinda hit or miss. But I’m hoping I get at least one chance to try healing as a priest.

Become Exalted Argent Champion of the Alliance on at least one toon. Veleni actually has the best shot at this, although I’m going to be working on the AT dailies with Rubeola as well. It’s really just a matter of time, and sticking with the dailies. It’s completely attainable.

Get an albino drake. As I think I’ve said before, Rubeola is my best bet for getting an albino drake. I’m hoping to get one or more of the Argent Tournament mounts for her. And there’s the next goal that should help as well.

Have Rubeola craft a Mekgineer’s Chopper. Being able to craft the chopper will require dropping mining for engineering, and then leveling engineering to max level. I think I also need to be exalted with the Alliance Vanguard in order to learn the schematic. Fortunately, Rubeola is already 3/4 of the way through revered and I think she might get to exalted by the time she’s finished with the AT dailies.

And there you have it. Some goals. Ok. Instead of goals, maybe they are more of a wish list. I’ll report back if I manage to finish any of them.

Over the weekend Veleni finished up enough of the Argent Tournament dailies to become “Veleni of Exodar”. Basically, that requires completing the Valiant’s Challenge while also being exalted with the city your are championing. Once that is accomplished, a set of new dailies opens up in the main Argent pavilion that rewards Champion’s Seals, the true currency of the Argent Tournament. With Veleni I intend to use my Champion’s Seals to purchase an Argent Hippogryph. But at 250 seals, it may take a while.

Once you finish championing one city, you are able to choose another city. The first city you champion has to be your own. But after that, you are free to choose. Veleni is currently championing Ironforge, since she has yet to become exalted with the Dwarves. Doing the Argent Tournament dailies earns rep with the city you are championing. Also, once you become a champion and start doing dailies for the Argent Crusade, you can start earning Champion’s Writs, which you can turn in to cities you have championed for rep.

As insane as it might be, I am also doing the Argent Tournament dailies with Rubeola. She has yet to become “of Stormwind” yet, but I think that’s just one day way. Rubeola is behind in the rep department. I worked a bit over the weekend to get her exalted with Stormwind. But she’s only revered with the other cities. By time she’s finished with the AT, though, I hope to have her exalted with all cities and ready to buy all their mounts.

Yes, still working on the PVP currencies post. And by still working, I mean that I haven’t done anything at all. Well, that’s not entirely true. I ran a couple of battlegrounds. You know, for research. Interestingly enough, I’m beginning to think that doing the old BGs for honor may just not be worth it. I need to do a bit more research, but the best strategy may be to stick to Wintergrasp and Strand of the Ancients. But I hope to have more to say on that topic in my PVP currencies post.

Anyway, on to my crazy idea. Basically, I’m thinking that I might drop mining on Rubeola and pick up Engineering. That itself isn’t so crazy, I guess. But my reason for doing it would be to make the helicopter and the motorcycle. I’m not sure I need any of the other things that Engineering can provide, though I haven’t examined all the craftable items in detail.

Rubeola is probably my best bet for getting an Albino Drake. She’s already done the grind for a Netherwing, so that’s six mounts right there. Plus, she has the Black War Bear reward from For the Alliance. She also has one of the PVP mounts. All I’d need to do is get exalted with all of the races and maybe pick up one of the mounts from the Argent Tournament. I might also need to get to exalted with the Kurenai to be able to buy their Talbuks. I’m thinking it wouldn’t take long for Rubeola to work her way to 50 mounts.

Anyway, Engineering just for the motorcycle. Is that a bad idea? I could, of course, just buy it. But I like the idea of being able to make it. And the helicopter can only be ridden by an engineer, so that’s another reason to go engineering.

I haven’t made any decisions yet. Just thinking about it at this point.

I’m working on a longer post about PVP currencies, but I thought I’d provide a small update in the meantime.

I’m currently working my way through the Argent Tournament dailies with Veleni. I’ve finished the Aspirant’s Seals phase and have moved on to the Valiant’s Seals phase. Oh, and here’s a safety tip concerning The Grand Melee quest: You can fight all three battles at once as long as each battle is against a Valiant of a different race. I fought one and saw the 1-hour debuff you get and assumed I couldn’t do another fight for an hour. But I just watched a friend do the same quest and even though I told him he could only fight once an hour, he was smart enough to ignore me (doesn’t take a lot of smarts there) and go challenge a Valiant of a different race.

If you are an unholy Death Knight and looking gear up for Naxx, then be sure to check out Me And My Ghoul’s Gearing Your Unholy DK For Naxx. As of this writing, there are two parts up already. I really like that the list covers both DPS and tanking gear. As well as appropriate gems for those items that can take gems. My Death Knight, Rubeola, happens to be unholy, so I am particularly interested in such a list of gear. And I have to admit that I’d not really considered the possibility of tanking with Rubeola. I think I assumed that I would need to spec Frost to tank, but people on twitter assure me that a Death Knight can tank from any tree.

I think that’s about it for now. I do hope to finish up the PVP currencies post at some point. But it requires research and stuff, so I have to get motivated enough to do the work to finish it.

Thought I’d give a brief update concerning my quest to obtain Baron Rivendare’s mount. I have managed to become exalted with the Argent Dawn. Believe me, the irony of a Death Knight being exalted with the Argent Dawn is not lost on me. So while I do appreciate that honor, I have yet to obtain the mount. Since I am now exalted, I have a lot less reason to loot as I run Stratholme. I find that if I don’t loot, I am able to run the instance in something like 10 minutes. Unfortunately, even at 10 minutes, it’s just too tedious for me to run it over and over, which is what I need to do if I want to get the mount. So for now, I am going to end my quest for the mount. I may come back and work on it again later, but I think I can probably use my WoW time for better things.

UPDATE: And how many times can I mistype ‘quest’ as ‘guest’? At lest two, apparently.

Baron Rivendare is a boss in Stratholme. On rare occasions, he’ll drop the reins of his Deathcharger as loot. It used to be that the chance of a drop was 1 in 5000. But in 3.0 Blizzard improved the drop rate such that it is now 1 in 100. Meaning that a chance for a drop is actually pretty high, if you run the instance enough times.

I really want Rubeola to have the Deathcharger. The Baron is a Death Knight, so his mount is obviously a Death Knight mount. It doesn’t look like the new Death Knight mounts, though. Instead, it looks like a Skeletal Warhorse (the Undead epic mount). If Rubeola were a Horde character, I probably wouldn’t care as much. I actually have several Horde characters with skeletal warhorses and they look very cool. But Rubeola is human, so her only chance to get an undead horse is from the Baron.

I’ve already run Stratholme about 10 to 20 times hoping to get the mount to drop. But I’m not yet taking it seriously. I just run it every now and then. What I really need to do is run it over and over until the mount drops. I find a run takes approximately 20 minutes. I know there are people that can run it faster, but that’s about as fast as I can manage it. Which means that, in an hour, I can run it about 3 times. Continuing with the math, over the course of 8 hours I be able to run it about 24 times. So, to run it 100 times I guess I’m going to have to devote something like 32 hours to the project. That is a little longer than I’d like. And, of course, there’s no guarantee that the mount will drop even after 100 runs. Or, it could drop on the next run. Such is the nature of random number generators.

So I believe the Deathcharger will be my next project. It remains to be seen whether I’ll really be able to run Stratholme enough times to get the mount to drop. But I wouldn’t be surprised if I manage to get to exalted with the Argent Dawn. A Death Knight who is exalted with Argent Dawn seems perfect irony to me.

After saying I wasn’t going to go for the Children’s Week meta achievement, I went ahead and did it anyway. Rubeola is now “Matron Rubeola”.

The PVP part of the achievement wasn’t quite as bad as I thought it would be. I did Arathi Basin first, as I figured it would be simple. And it was. Basically, I just aimed myself at enemy flags until I found one I could assault. Not really a big deal.

I tried Eye of the Storm next, even though I was afraid it would be difficult. In fact, though, EotS was as easy as AB. I think I needed to do it twice before I found one that the Alliance dominated. All participants basically took turns until we had all carried the flag once.

Next up was Warsong Gulch, which turned out to be the most difficult of the BG achievements. I must have played upwards of ten matches before succeeding in returning the flag. Ultimately my strategy was to be as near the flag carrier as much as possible, and to start right-clicking like mad as soon as I thought the flag carrier might be going down. That meant, of course, that I wasn’t participating in killing the carrier, which would be the normal strategy. But I did manage to return the flag, and in fact, I was the only Alliance to return a flag in that particular WSG. Needless to say, Alliance lost that WSG.

Last up was Alterac Valley, which was about as simple as AB to complete. The basic strategy I intended to use (as Alliance) was to run down to the first boss together with the rest of my teammates, kill the first boss, and then head directly for the final two towers to attempt an assault. That would have been my strategy, except that I entered AV in the middle of the game. So instead I ran down to the final boss as fast as I could to help end the game so that I could move on to the next try. But in this particular AV, Alliance was actually losing, and that set up a situation where there were enemy towers that nobody was defending. So I saw an opportunity to slip in and take one before the game ended in a Horde win. Nobody stopped me and I managed to complete the achievement with little fuss.

I had already managed to finish all of the other achievements and all that was left was to turn in my orphan and claim my pet, which allowed me to finish the final achievement and earn the title “Matron”.

So apparently Rubeola is still on track to obtain a Violet Proto-Drake.

Hvata me panika – a vas?

Nakon citanja o malom Nikoli i Aleksandru (izdvojena tema – kidsofhope) i dve neprespavane noćis „kamenom” u dusi, pregledala sam Immunizaton Record knjizicu od moje Dariane koja uskoro puni 4.
Ona je doticnu vakcinu primila već 4 puta i hvala Bogu sve je dobro prošlo, ali vidim da će najverovatnije na sledećem doktorskom pregledu trebati da primi još jednu takvu, dakle DTaP vakcinu, kao i Polio IPVC i MMR vakcinu. Uznemirena sam.

Da li da bojkotujem te vakcine? Potražila sam vise informacija o svakoj od tih vakcina, bogami ni ona MMR nije bas mačiji kasalj, mnogi je povezuju sa autizmom kod dece, jedino mi ona Polio vakcina ne izgleda nešto strasno jer kao nema posledica…Ali vise ni u to ne verujem. Ne znam šta da mislim i u šta da verujem.

Molim za vasa mišljenja, drage mamice. Šta ćete vi uraditi / šta ste uradile – dozvoliti vakcinisanje ili ne?

Ne volim da diskutujem na ovu temu, moram da vam priznam.
Imam sina koji je ostecen vakcinom, konkretno komponentom pertusisa.
Nije to kod nas spekulacija, možda ili šta ja znam, neko konkretna dijagnoza-pertusis encefalitis, kad je imao 3.5 meseci.
Da ne pricam šta smo sve prošli , puno sam o tome pisala ali moje mišljenje o vakcinama je sledeće:

PREVISE, PRERANO , PRESKUPO, PREOPASNO.

Katarina nije vakcinisana protiv pertusisa, a primila je DT. Samo to. MMR nikada neće primiti jer sam diskutovala sa puno lekara i svi se slazu da je bolje da je ne vakcinisem.
Nikada nismo otkrili šta je to u genima ili necem drugom doprinelo da moj sin tako reaguje. Prosao je relativno ok, što se tiče posledica, moglo je biti daleko gore.

Moje mišljenje je da ako vakcinisete zdravo dete, znaci ako ste 100% sigurni da je zdravo, onda bi trebalo da bude ok.ALI, ako to isto dete koje je zdravo i pravo, ne bude vakcinisano i na prirodan način prelezi Rubeolu, Zauske i Rubelu, OPET CE BITI OK!!!!!!!!!!!

Međutim, nisu sva deca uvek ok, Rubeola je preopasna za odrasle i za decu pre godinu dana, i zbog toga je odluka vrlo, vrlo teska.

Ja imam drugu dilemu…ocigledno je da nove generacije imaju probleme sa imunitetom i to poozbiljne. Citala sam da ranije, kada su deca prirodno poboljevala od decjih bolesti i oporavljala se, njihov imunitet se drukcije razvijao i bio veoma stabilniji i jači. Problem je da li će svako dete sve prelezati i dali će prelezati bez sekvela, u tom grmu lezi zec i ruski rulet.

Zato, ja sam za selektivnu vakcinaciju.
MORATE se inforimisati, morate citati o tome , nema druge, ne prepustajte se naslepo lekarima, oni vam neće ništa garantovati.
Ima vremena za sve po meni i ne mora busiti dete bas od rođenja, pobogu. Odlozite vakcine na 6 meseci, neće se ništa desiti.

U Kanadi stize milione dece koja imaju 2-3-4 godine i nikada nisu bila vakcinisana jer dolaze iz siromasnih zemalja, bez medicinske nege pa ih opet uspesno vakcinisu sa 3-4-5 godina i sve je ok. Cemu zurba?

Autizam se masovno poceo javljati negde oko 1950tih, kada je nazvana „Bolest gvozdenih i obrazovanih majki”. Pošto su autisticna deca uvek bila iz bogatih, obrazovanih porodica, verovalo se da su bogate, obrazovane majke hladne i bez majcine ljubavi, pa su zapustile decu.
Međutim oko 1960tih se primetilo da ta deca imaju i bracu i sestre i ova deca su ok, znaci nije majka u pitanju.
Tek oko 1970tih, napustena je teroija „majka je za sve kriva” i primetili su da samo bogatija deca imaju PRISTUP SVIM VAKCINAMA.
Tu je rođena teroija da je problem u previse vakcina i prerano…ali ko će se odreci toliko para, farmacija sigurno ne.
Sada se autizam javlja u svim slojevima jer je vakcinisanje svima dostupno.

Inače Dr. Horovic je Hardvardski đak, vrlo uspešan, i u zadnjoj knjizi koju je napisao upravo se nalaze SVI relevantni DOKAZI protiv vakcinacije (zato je tako obimna). Ko živi na zapadu može da potraži knjigu.

P.S. Naravno da nema panike i nema potrebe ni da je bude. Ali svi mi IMAMO PRAVA da se informišemo! Nema potrebe da verujemo nečijem iskazu samo zato što je neko Dr. ili nečijem iskazu zato što je nešto načuo po ovom pitanju. Logično je da proverimo svačiji iskaz… zato nam glava i služi ))

Sigurno je da ima roditelja koji su bolest deteta pripisali vakcinaciji a da to nije bio uzrok… ali zato ima i onih koji ni ne znaju da je bolest njihovog deteta direktno uslovljena vakcinacijom!

Naravno ima i onih koji ZNAJU da su njihovoj deci vakcine upropastile zdravlje!
(nije samo živa u pitanju, već namerno uništavanje budućih pokolenja… biološkim ratom)

Nisam citala sve komentare ali od onih koje jesam moram reći da se u POTPUNOSTI slazem sa JoannaL.
Moj stariji sin je skoro 9 godina star i njega smo bez razmišljanja vodili na sve vakcine (nije bilo problema).
Nakon sest godina dobili smo i drugoga sina i kad sam dobila raspored vakcinisanja za njega umalo što se nisam onesvjestila!

U tih sest godina je toliko vakcina dodano uz one koje je moj stariji sin dobio – da sam se jednostavno oduzela. Moja savjest mi nije dozvoljavala da sa svim tim ‘nakljukam’ mog mladjeg sina.
Imala sam razgovor sa nasom doktoricom i njeno mišljenje (inače Evropljanka po rođenju) takodjer je bilo je da to previse i da ona to svojoj vlastitoj djeci nebi davala. Tako smo odlucile da se pridržavamo rasporeda vakcina koje je imao moj stariji sin za mog mladjeg!
Još jedno želim dodati za mame iz Kanade (mi živimo u Kanadi).

Vakcinisanje NIJE obavezno i Kanadi i to nikako ne moze biti razlog da vam dijetu nedozvole upis u skolu. Evo linka za vise informacija:

S druge strane želim napomenuti da moja zaova radi u osnovnoj skoli sa ’special needs‘ djecom od kojih je najviše autisticno. Naime, njihov sluzbeni stav o vakcinama je da vakcine definitivno ne izazivaju autizam.
