Ok. I know I already posted a Star Wars themed entry within the last 24 hours. This is going to make number 2, and establish me fully as a total geek/dork/nerd… But I don’t care. This video has to be seen! Slice of Scifi put up this video on their blog: It is called RVD2, Ryan v Dorkman 2. These two guys have choreographed, filmed, and fought out some light saber battle scenes that put George Lucas to shame. For two guys on a budget, they do things that are almost unbelievable, and actually show us what a real light saber battle would actually look like.

We all know that Firefly was a show killed before its time and that the Serenity movie never got its due either.

The original DVD version of Serenity was available a few months after the initial release but it looks like Joss Whedon still has a few tricks up his sleeve. On August 21st a special collector’s edition dvd is set for release. The special is a two disk set that apparently includes all-new bonus content and never-seen-before footage! With over 60 minutes of all-new special features and special collectible packaging.

Sounds impressive to me..and hey it’s probably the only ‘new’ firefly stuff we’re likely to see for a while. TFAW’s got a reasonable price on pre-order for this.

RvD2: Ryan vs. Dorkman 2 is now one of my fav fanboy lightsaber duels ever.

Long story short two average dudes duke it out in a factory with real slick saber action that is jaw droppingly awesome. The footage is professionally done and the lightsaber sounds and effects are top notch.

One of my fav sequence occurs at 4:20 where the two of them use the force to try and attrack and repel a lightsaber that has been dropped. The one dude finally wins out but then the butt of the saber hits him in the head - JUST CLASSIC.

Then at 5:48 he gets his hand cut off and to add insult to injury gets his knee sliced too…almost like Monty Python Holy Grail and the black knight scene.
