Pullip- Angelique and Charlotte are still kicking around in the post I hate SAL sometimes.  I am also awaiting two other dolls; a custom dal named Jupin who is a dal customized to look the pullip Jupi and I am trading one of my Ridas for a Latte. I am in the process of commissioning another custom dal, with a different customizer this time, as much as I love Requiem’s work I wanted to try a different customizer as a couple of my friends have customs by her and really speak very highly of her work . I am having a custom dal made up of the little pullip Froggy, Little Froggy is my absolute favorite mini and I have already seen a few customs pullips of her then I thought she might be even cuter as a dal.

Blythe- I have fallen head over heels for next month’s release Punkaholic People.  I absolutely must have her.

I currently in the process of trading my Love Mission to make a space for her (I don’t want to have too many with dark hair or anyone hair color for that matter plus I am trying to keep a close eye on their number). Speaking of the trade I am acquiring a Primadolly Saffy so I am rather pleased as she is one of my favorite blythes that I don’t own.

Dollfie Dream- I just checked tracking it looks as though the mysterious Dollfie Dream just arrived in the States a little earlier this evening which would normally mean that she would be delivered tomorrow. Unfortunately there is no mail delivery tomorrow because of the holiday so it looks as though both the mystery DD and Rin will both be arriving together on Monday. Oh the irony.. Ryomou and Kanu showed up on the same day despite the fact they were purchased a few days apart from very different sellers. I wonder if this is a sign that I should buy another when Yoko is due. Anticipate lots of pictures next week.

Thanks to Laura for suggesting one that might just be perfect.  Our Name of the Day is Saffron.

It is almost hard to believe that Saffron hasn’t already caught on.  After all,  Saffron Monsoon is a beloved character among followers of Britcom Absolutely Fabulous, the long-running television show following the lives of Eddy and Patsy, BFFs chasing all things trendy and addictive in London.  Saffy is Eddy’s daughter – the practical foil to her immature mother.

The golden-yellow color of the spice means that Saffron would fit right in with Indigo and Poppy, too.  The color has implications in Buddhism and Hinduism.  They lend a spiritual, even political edge to an otherwise light nature name.

Other than the fictional Saffron Monsoon, there are few notable bearers of the name.  She’s never charted in the US Top 1000.  Actress Saffron Burrows is one exception, most recently seen in 2008’s The Bank Job.

Saffron is a rarity, but she’d fit right in.  Consider her similiarity to:

• Frills-free modern classics like Allison and Lauren;
• Nature names like Willow and Brooke;
• Flower power monikers from the classic Rose to the trendy Violet to daring picks like Azalea and Tulip;
• Colorful appellations like Grayson, Ruby or Esmerelda.

Overall, she’s a daring name that wouldn’t be terribly difficult to wear.  But beware – an American remake of AbFab is in the works.  There’s no confirmation on whether the daughter’s character will have the same name.  If Saffron hits the small screen stateside, this time she just might be the next big thing.

I went to pick up my babies with Lilian last evening. Going doll shopping alone is fun. Going with a fellow dolly friend is double the fun. While I had picked up my pre order Prima Dollys, she had decided to buy Hello Winter on the whim.

Lilian reckons I love blondes. While I don’t think it is necessarily true, it is true that I absolutely adore Saffy. She’s no longer Saffy by the way. Her new name’s Marilyn (no prizes on where the inspiration came from) but just call her M. Marilyn is too fussy for her. She’s a not a fussy, oh let’s do the airkissing/how have you been sweetheart kinda chick. She likes to get straight to the point.

I simply lurve her hair. It has the same fluffy texture as Angelica Eve. I suspect they may have ordered the same hair for both girls (more economical, lol) but it’s fantastic. I am not complaining. I like the soft marshmallow, fluffy texture of it. I know heaps of people are not big fans of the frizz after a while, but I do love big curly hair. There’s a certain old skool glamor to it.Her make up is almost perfect too. I say its almost perfect because while I love the bronze on her cheeks and soft brown on her lips, I simply cannot deal with the blue eyeshadow. I have never liked blue eyeshadow ever since the SQ girls (Singapore Airline air stewardess) scared me with their bright blue eyeshadow and garish red lips with matching nails. So her blue eye shadow will have to go for sure.

She’s quite perfect otherwise. Here’s M, dipping her feet in my wash basin after her jet lag. She knows its no swimming pool. but like I have said, she’s not very fussy at all. It’s all good with her as long as it serves the same purpose.

Okay, so, the camera’s not the greatest, so you can’t see the detailed pattern–but there are some better pictures in the archives. but, nearly a year after it was finished, here’s proof that it’s sweater shaped. it’s good to finally have the picture because 1) it’s a pretty sweater and 2) Lynn did the finishing for me, and she deserves some public props.

I’ve been wearing this a lot this fall… once accidentally wearing it three Wednesdays in a row so that the folks I work with at church were wondering if I was just really fishing for compliments about my knitting or whether I had nothing else to wear. I’m still a bit self-conscious about the ruffle at the butt (that’s a “design element” i won’t try again), but it’s flattering enough, darn comfortable, and makes the work-to-play transition pretty well just by wearing it open over a T.

So yay for finished, well-used knits. And yay for sunshine and photographer/husbands. Would you believe it is sunny again today? Really, that seems like it’s all I talk about around here, but these few sunny days are what get me through the winter, and they need to be celebrated!
