Sailormoon, adalah salahsatu kartun fiksi buatan jepang yang sukses mendunia. Pada jamannya, antara 1995-1999, tokoh sailormoon benar-benar menjadi seorang tokoh yang disukai anak-anak pada masa itu. Padahal menurut saya, kartun sailormoon ini bukanlah kartun untuk anak-anak. Mengapa demikian? Karena dalam penokohan sailormoon, disisipkan pesan-pesan yang tidak cocok untuk anak-anak. Yaaaa, semacam kampanye LGBT gitu deh.

Terlepas dari itu semua, kartun sailormoon tetaplah kartun. Dunia kartun yang selalu digemari anak-anak pada masanya. Saya ingat kala itu, hampir seluruh saudara saya (yang memang usia kami tidak terpaut jauh) tidak pernah melewatkan kartun yang ditayangkan salah satu tv swasta setiap hari ahad. Tentu saja, lambat laun saya pun terbawa menggemari cerita imaginer tersebut. Adalah edisi sailorstar yang terpotong penayangannya, sehingga waktu itu cerita tidak tuntas. Usut punya usut edisi ini tidak masuk ke Indonesia karena pesan LGBT sangat kentara disini, dan itu tidak baik jika ditonton anak-anak. Memasuki masa dewasa, karena didorong rasa penasaran, saya pun mencari lewat youtube tentang kartun ini. Memang kental sekali nuansa pesan LGBT di edisi ini.

Terlepas dari pesan LGBT ini, saya menangkap pesan lain dari tokoh sailormoon di edisi sailorstar ini. begini ceritanya:

Dalam episode ke 200 diceritakan, sailormoon sudah kehilangan sailorsoldier teman-temannya yang mati karena ulah sailor galaxia yang jahat. Sailor galaxia ini mencari light of hope, dan memakan semua harapan orang (yang dideskripsikan sebagai bintang harapan-ketika light of hope seseorang diambil, orang tersebut akan menghilang). Sailor galaxia digambarkan sebagai sosok jahat dari planet lain yang sudah tidak memiliki hati nurani. Sedangkan sailormoon adalah sosok protagonist yang sangat cinta damai. Dia tidak mau menggunakan kekerasan untuk melawan sailor galaxia yang super jahat, karena sailormoon yakin sejahat-jahatnya lawan, pasti memiliki hati nurani. Kadang hati nurani inilah yang terbutakan dan disembunyikan oleh kekuatan iblis. Dalam salah satu adegan diceritakan, sailormoon meyakini bahwa jika ingin dunia ini lebih indah, maka hati lah yang diciptakan untuk membawa kedamaian.

Dalam keadaan terdesak dan hampir kalah, sailormoon memberikan sedikit pelajaran kepada sailor galaxia bahwa dia belum menyerah kalah “I Love this world,  eventough there are a lot of sad and difficult things. I like this world very much because I could meet everyone! I know you know  how wonderful this world is

“The world that I love, this world that’s everyone tried to protect. That small hope left in your heart! I believe a small hope is in your heart. I believe. I don’t wanna loose you or everyone”

Dengan penuh keyakinan, sailormoon berusaha menyentuh sisi terdalam dari sosok jahat yang sedang dia hadapi. Sisi terdalam itu adalah hati. Akhirnya, digambarkan sailormoon berhasil menyentuh hati si jahat, dan serta merta sosok sailor galaxia yang penuh amarah, berubah wujud menjadi seorang puteri cantik dengan wajah bersinar.

Ada makna dari kartun yang tidak layak ditonton anak-anak tersebut. Bahwa, sebenarnya tidak ada seorang yang jahat di muka bumi ini. yang ada adalah, hati yang buta dan terkeraskan karena selalu terpengaruh bujuk rayu setan dan iblis. Pada dasarnya jiwa manusia itu suci, hanya kelakuan duniawi yang membuat kita terperosok dan akhirnya mengikuti apa yang dihembuskan setan terkutuk.  Pun demikian dalam menyikapi seseorang di media dunia maya ini, saya percaya bahwa orang-orang yang berbuat onar di media maya ini sebenarnya adalah orang-orang yang butuh pengakuan semata. Saya meyakini, kelak, ketika hidayah Alloh telah menetes pada hati sanubarinya, mereka akan menyesal telah berbuat tidak baik terhadap sesama.

Saya bukan sailormoon, tapi saya turut meyakini apa yang telah disampaikan sailormoon.

Karena hidup ini adalah tentang berbuat baik.

Die französische Elektro-Synth-House-Formation Daft Punk ist eine Band die vor einigen Jahren die Tacks aus ihrem Album “Discovery” als Anime verfilmt hat.

Zuerst sah man bei einigen Singleauskopplungen (One More Time, Aerodynamic, Digital Love, Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger und Something About Us) die ersten insgesamt 15 Minuten des Films.

Daft Punk schrieben während der Studioaufnahmen ein Drehbuch und ließen dieses vom Animationsstudio Toei (Captain Future, Dragonball, SailorMoon) unter der Regie von Leiji Matsumoto verfilmen.

Es entstand Interstella 5555 – The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem:

Otra caricatura que no recordaba la tonadita y que JM me mencionó y aún así no lo pude recordar, pero sólo tuve que poner en el Youtube para que mi cerebro recordara toda la canción:

La princesa de los 1000 años tuvo la desdicha de no ser vista bien por toda una generación y todo por el infortunio de estar antes de los Caballeros del Zodiaco. La canción parece de Raphael, muy chingona.

Quién no lloró con este ending de las Aventuras de Fly, cuando el maestro Aban murió, pues al terminar, la canción nostálgica, los lentes en la arena y el ver los regalos que les dejó a sus alumnos se tornaban en un momento realmente triste:

Sailor Moon fue la generación posterior a Candy Candy. Lo veían las niñas por Tuxedo Mask y los niños por las Sailor Scouts que estaban buenísimas, en especial Sailor Mars.

This summer season has been fairly busy for me. I’ve had a lot of things taking up my time. As a result, my viewing of new Japanese TV goodies was pretty light. One show I did make time for, however, was “Buzzer Beat”.

Initially, I wasn’t sure I was going to watch it. When I pulled up its info on the D-Addicts Wiki, what leapt out at me is that this was a show about a basketball team with neon pink uniforms. Since I have little interest in basketball, especially in such an obnoxious color scheme, I thought I might take a pass on it. On closer inspection though, there were three reasons why I decided I had to see this show, which I will now enumerate:

1. Yamashita Tomohisa
2. Kitagawa Keiko
3. Aibu Saki

Yamashita Tomohisa was one of the first actors I noticed when I began watching JDramas. While he’s unlikely to show up on any lists of the greatest 21st century actors, he has a sort of subtle goofiness about him that makes his characters very entertaining. In 2007’s “Proposal Daisakusen”, he played a character who was completely clueless in how to deal with women. His performance must have been good, as I was simultaneously rooting for him, and falling off the sofa yelling at him for being such a blockhead. He brings a similar sort of aloof cluelessness to “Buzzer Beat” in its lead character Kamiya Naoki.

Kitagawa Keiko dates back with me even farther than Yamashita. Kitagawa had a main role in the very first live action Japanese TV series I ever watched: Pretty Guardian Sailormoon. “PGSM” as it’s commonly called was a 2003 adaptation of the 90’s manga and anime classic “Bishoujo Senshi Sailormoon”, successfully blending elements of the manga, the anime and original material into a pretty compelling story. Unfortunately, it was plagued by some middling to bad acting on the part of the central five actresses — with one exception. Kitagawa Keiko turned in a surprisingly competent performance as Sailor Mars, despite just having been plucked from the ranks of gravure idols (as were the other four). In a surprisingly wise move among idols, Keiko decided to attend college after the completion of the series rather than immediately pursue a celebrity career. Recently, she has returned to acting, doing a few movies before returning to TV with “Mop Girl” for which she won an award. In “Buzzer Beat”, she plays Shirakawa Riko.

Aibu Saki I first encountered in 2006’s “Attention Please” where she played a supporting role as the main character’s friend. Since then, I’ve seen her move up into larger roles and recently landing some leads in shows like “Zettai Kareshi” and “Utahime”. Saki typically plays very pure and innocent characters. However, in “Buzzer Beat”, her role as Nanami Natsuki allows her to play a woman who, while outwardly poised and well liked, secretly is spiteful and even vicious toward those she believes have wronged her. Saki handles the duality well, successfully acting like a good, upstanding person while simultaneously using subtle facial expressions to indicate her character’s true nature to the audience.

The story primarily follows Kamiya Naoki (Yamashita), a player for a Japanese pro basketball team called the JC ARCS. As the series begins, Naoki loses his cell phone on the bus, which is found by a young violinist named Shirakawa Riko (Kitagawa). The ARCS’ head coach, Kawasaki Tomoya (Ito Hideaki) comes to retrieve the phone, and also winds up arranging for a date with Riko. Naoki, meanwhile, asks his girlfriend and the ARCS’ head cheerleader Natsuki (Aibu) to marry him if they win the championship. However, the ARCS are quickly eliminated from the playoffs, where Naoki made a less than stellar performance.

As the off-season begins, Naoki is fully depressed. He heads to a local park to practice, where he finds a girl practicing her violin on the court. As it turns out, this is Riko, whose apartment neighbors the park. Riko is unaware that Naoki is the owner of the cell phone she had found earlier, but they have a pleasant conversation and begin a sort of friendship. Later, when Kawasaki brings Riko to one of the ARCS’ practices, she notices Naoki’s poor performance on the court. Without thinking, she disrupts the practice by yelling out to him, calling him an idiot. The unusual encouragement from Riko seems to rejuvenate Naoki, and he starts to play better. As they continue to encounter each other in the park, Naoki and Riko promise to chase their respective dreams of winning the championship and becoming a professional violinist.

Meanwhile, one of the ARCS’ new players, Yoyogi Ren (Kaneko Nobuaki), has his eye on Natsuki. He begins to appeal to a “bad” side he says he can see in her, and soon they begin an affair. After Naoki discovers them in the locker room, he breaks things off with Natsuki. Natsuki begins to show more and more of her vindictive side as she continues and on again/off again relationship with Yoyogi while also going out of her way to make Naoki more miserable. As Naoki and Riko begin to grow closer, things become more complicated when Natsuki begins to notice their relationship, as does Kawasaki who was quite in love with Riko despite her never feeling much spark for him.

“Buzzer Beat”, thankfully, manages to build its drama on character development with basketball merely as a background. This is good for me because the basketball is the least interesting aspect. What basketball scenes that do show up are well executed and exciting. However, the bulk of the story regards the evolution of the characters’ various relationships, the obstacles in the way of their various romances, and the sacrifices they have to make in order to chase their dreams. This is supported well by strong performances from the cast all around. I can’t really find fault with any of the actors. Some of the plot devices used were a little forced, but I can forgive that, as this is primarily a character driven story.

One thing I found interesting is that the show presents pro basketball in Japan as a very nascent industry, with pretty low attendance. They don’t even get their games broadcast on TV. Finding this odd, I checked, and indeed pro basketball in Japan is a relatively new thing. The unfortunately named BJ-League was formed only in 2005, currently featuring 13 teams, with 3 more to be added next year, and planned expansion to 24 by 2014. None of the teams are named the JC ARCS, however, and the real teams do get their games broadcast, albeit on satellite stations.

“Buzzer Beat” is overall a very good example of JDrama. It features a number of currently significant actors, and serves well to introduce someone to the overall structure and tone of its genre. Specifically, it’s a “renai renzoku” or “romance serial”, a very common format. Don’t let the word romance scare you off though, these shows feature typically strong writing, multiple types of plotlines and a good sense of humor that differentiate “renai renzoku” from the interminable soap operas your mother has been watching for 30 years. Also, Japanese prime time dramas (with a few exceptions) only last for one 13-week TV season, with the final episode count typically around 10-12. That makes the barrier for entry very low, since you never have to jump in halfway through a very long series. If you’re curious about modern JDrama, “Buzzer Beat” would not be a bad place to start.

Oh dear. I am a sucker for cartoons, any kinds. Dora the Explorer? Wonder Pets? Ben 10? You name it. I’m in denial about how it is normal for a 22 year old to still like animation/cartoons, not that I’m that childish or anything. This craze of moving pictures with characters that have super abilities, extra-ordianary colours schemes and squemish voices started with… the most prized anime of all. SAILORMOON.

I remember those good old days where I was anticipating the weekly show of Sailormoon in malay. Nevermind the weird and unstuitable cartoon voices. Back then, I like Sailormoon so much like how men to football/soccer/footie .

But now, stop-motion is the BOMB. I recently signed up for Vimeo, not that I have anything fun or interesting to be shared with anybody (I don’t film videos as much as my lil sister does). I signed up so that I can search for more animations!

I really like these “Wow! brushes” I got from the text book, but I barely read the book… well, it’s useful, and simulates real brushes.

This reminds me, it takes about half of your hair to tie it up into a bun. Sailormoon has tons of hair. I would also like to comment that Sailor Chibi should also be even longer because her hair is a cone thing… but one never discusses this aspect in anime. It doesn’t matter… haha…

It seems that the people whom I comment on livejournal always ends up removing the OpenID and thus, people who don’t have livejournal can’t comment. What is up with that? Do I bite? Do they think I spam? WTF, that makes me question if I should care about people who don’t really care about others. When you go over to someone else’s blog, unless it is a flame comment, then the commenter is trying to be friendly. So by doing that, that person from another blog, like wordpress, or even blogger will feel excluded. And thus, making them angry. I wouldn’t bother returning at all.

Oh, nothing much. Yes, I realize I’ve been away for quite some time and that is mainly because I’ve been doing a lot of reading. It’s amazing what books you can find for free online. There is a website that I bookmarked that had free ebooks. I reread Hans Christian Anderson’s original Little Mermaid. I loved it when I read the children’s storybook version in fifth grade and I remembered how bittersweet it was. Disney made it too happy in my opinion. And the fact of the matter is that most people don’t even know the original stories of all the stories Disney took anyway, at least most kids unless they come across. I’ve always liked the original Winnie the Pooh too by A.A. Milne. So I can just create a Little Mermaid and call her my own. She is nameless in the original btw, she is just called the little mermaid. You can read it here. I’m hoping to get over my laziness and begin scripting it out because I want to make a my comic and why not use one of fave fairytales?

I had also planned a lot of things to draw like redoing fanart for sailormoon and comparing them to my old ones. I’ve decided to stylize it to make it more unique. Alas, I’ve only successfully done one picture… I shall try to do the entire team. I started drawing in fourth trade because I thought Sailormoon was so pretty… They started to air all the episodes up to season 5 I think on Toonami. But I don’t remember for sure. They stopped somewhere in the middle where Sailor Chibi returns to the future and not airing the sailor stars because they were, technically, transvestites; I am thinking there are some scruples with that. And I always thought that in the Japanese version they transformed without the glitter, but that is untrue, it is always glittery. I wonder who told me that they didn’t, I wonder where this person saw it. It’s too bad because I wanted to see more of Sailor Saturn, I like her the best. Before her, I really liked Sailormoon best and pink was my favorite color until I was teased for it. Well, purple is my favorite color now… hahaha… and I am biased against anything pink now.

I’ve been using omegle for some time and find it sometimes frustrating because the majority of people are such bastards. Some do annoying things on purpose and some are just ew… I don’t understand why a majority of people I meet are from China even though I tried to log on at two different times at the day. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate Chinese people but I wanted to meet Europeans or people from other countries. And I’ll meet someone for a little, I kind of like them and then suddenly they get disconnected and try to connect the next person is horny or they’re shouting strange obscene things like “You’re a fag!” and then disconnect. Or when you don’t say anything and wait a long time people just leave… Hah…. sigh. But I’m done with it, I don’t want to take shit from a passing stranger, it drags me down and ruins my mood because I’ll be thinking what a jerk that person was.

Christian sent me the link to WhiteHatBlackBox.com, where there are all these awesome planner print-outs. Both me and Christian are trying desperately to stay organized. I, for one, need to work on my organizational skills and staying productive. I feel like I always have a million things to do! However, this little daily plan that you can print out on a 3×5 card is very useful. Learn the proper way to use it here. I printed a couple out, filled them out and stuck them in my years-old Sailormoon planner. Yes, I said Sailormoon. So shoot me. She’s still dope.

I grew up in a very different culture than the one most of you are familiar with in the Western World. Hong Kong was just as, if not more technologically advanced than North America. Our economy prospered and was labelled the shopping heaven of Asia. (ok, now Tokyo took over the title) Children didn’t have Sesame Street and Barney to sing along to. Instead, we had gruesome adult-rated Sailormoon, Dragon Ball and yes, Transformers. All school aged kids know how to sing both the Japanese and Cantonese version of the Dragon Ball theme song.

When we moved to Canada, we took these fond memories of our favorite cartoons with us that are sacred to us, and we held it dear. Then Japanese animation’s popularity were an international hit. Horridly dubbed Sailormoon and Dragon Ball aied on YTV and Cartoon Network. Imitation action figures and toys were available at toy stores everywhere.

I, amongst many Asian kids were saddened by this phenomenon. These cartoons were special to us; something that defined our identities. It wasn’t that we didn’t want to share it with the world, but by making horrible action figures, dubbing the cartoon with completely wrong conversations, makes it into a horrible joke.
Maybe I am taking this too personally. We grew up with great respect to these animation. America took over it, bought it, whatever, and took the sanctity of it away. Raped it basically. And broke it down from something with sophistication to mainstream idiocracy.

I am sure any Comic book Intellect can relate when the X-men movie came out. The movie just doesn’t quite stick to the same story of the comic.

I am sure any true punk can relate when Simple Plan declared themselves as punk music. The raw emotion and meaning of Punk is stripped and simplified for the mainstream audience.

This is my review of Transformers. This, along with the new G.I. Joe movie, the DVD Dragon Ball movie and all the Marvel Movies. They’re all fantastic movies, extremely entertaining and vivid… but at the end, I can’t help but shake my head and sigh…. I feel like my childhood was raped.

Kennt ihr das gefühl wenn man weiss man hätte etwas anders machen können hat es aber nicht und bereut es?

Nunja solche Gefühle habe ich seit letzter zeit oft. Ob ich wieder in dieser Depri phase wohl fest stecke?

Eigentlich wollte ich ein review zu einen Manga machen was ich aber dann morgen anfange wahrscheinlich.

Kaum zu glauben das heute Freitag ist und ich mich nicht drüber freue.

Mag aber wohl daran liegen das ich morgen arbeiten muss. Wegen Tag der offenen Tür. Kann man nur hoffen das wir ( ich und kollegen) nicht so begafft werden wie Affen im Zoo.

Gott sei dank geht das ganze nur von 9- 14 uhr  danach ist noch  Trödelmarkt geplant. Und dann bleibt mir auch nur ein Sonntag zum ausschlafen. Ob das wohl gut geht die woche darauf?  Ich brauche meinen wochenendlichen Schlaf sonst werde ich krank.

Irgendwie kam ich heute durch den ganzen putzen für morgen gar nicht zum fotos schiessen deshalb versuche ich morgen einige zu schiesen. schade das es nicht erlaubt ist  Fotos von der arbeit online zu stellen.

Da ich schon keine Fotos habe update ich meine wishlist etwas.
