<title><![CDATA[Master Cleanse - Day 1]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I decided to start early, I was going to start Monday, but then realized I was ready!  The last time I ate was about 6pm last night (pie).  I only ate one meal yesterday, but it was Thanksgiving dinner, so it was definitely bigger than normal! <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Set up my juicer today in a convenient spot near the sink, will make a huge difference.  Did the salt water flush this morning, worked like a charm.  I didn&#8217;t even mind drinking it, just pretended it was broth.  Hopefully this technique will continue to work!</p>
<p>One thing that worries me, I have not had any coffee today.  I am going to try to drink green tea to help that a bit.  Going to the stores today to get more supplies, I need the smooth moves tea, and more lemons.  For the sweetener, I will be using a combination of the grade B maple syrup, Rapadura sugar, and blackstrap molasses.  The Rapadura is a natural sugar with all of the minerals intact, including a lot of iron.  I think the mix of the three natural sweeteners will give me more minerals, since the blackstrap molasses is the highest in calcium.  Since the Rapadura is a dry sugar, I will need to figure out ratios that will be similar to maple syrup but not make the lemonade too sweet.  I will post that when I figure it out.</p>

<p>Went to Costco and whole foods for supplies.  My husband ate a piece of pizza right in front of me and I was totally fine.  However, having no coffee was really getting to me, so I had one cup of black coffee (normally I take cream).  Felt much better after that.  I know that is not on the cleanse, but I forgot to work my way down on the coffee.  Also I figured out that blackstrap molasses is very strong tasting!  I used about 1 tablespoon or a little more in 32 ounces of juice, and is probably all that I can handle.  It actually tastes better than it smells though, so if I can manage to not smell it in the juice as I&#8217;m drinking it, it seems to be ok.  This is weird because I love molasses cookies.</p>
<p>My sense of smell is already starting to get more pronounced.  Very weird, since I normally have a VERY good nose, but this is like my nose is on steroids.</p>
<p>Tired.  But I think it&#8217;s more to do with me being sick in the last week and staying up too late last night, not anything to do with the cleanse.  BM late this afternoon was DEFINITELY not something that I have eaten recently!  I did get the smooth moves chocolate tea, I hope it doesn&#8217;t keep me up tonight!  I will have to note down how long I steep the tea and how well it works, or if it works too well!</p>

<p>Well I can’t really believe this, but I am actually considering doing a master cleanse (a.k.a. the lemonade diet)!  This involves drinking a lemonade-like concoction for 10 days or more… no solid food at all.  Sounds crazy, huh?  I have been doing research, and there are arguments for and against it.  I decided that I am really the only one that can make the decision.  So I decided.  To not eat for 10 days.  Or until I feel absolutely terrible, whichever comes first.  This is me panicking:   arrrrrrgggghhhhhhaaaaaaaa!!</p>

<p>What got me on this kick is reading about the liver cleanse.  Then I read that some people choose to do a liver cleanse at the end of a master cleanse, since you’re pretty much ‘cleaned out’ anyway so it’s easier to get the stones out.  I am wondering what I have been carrying around in my colon all of these years.  I suspect it is not much!  Yes, I know, I say this now.  But I am curious if I am correct or not.</p>
<p>I had weight loss surgery (duodenal switch) in 2001 and have lost about 180 pounds since then, kept it off too.  Then in 2006 I had surgery to remove my stomach flap, arm wings, and to lift my breasts.  Even after all of that, I am still fat, I could stand to lose 50 more pounds.  With the DS surgery I get diarrhea if I eat something with too much fat, or something with too much of the WRONG KIND of fat.  Needless to say, I do not have a problem with constipation.  This is why I think that I may not have a problem with my colon contents, because it is always ‘moving out’.  However, I am not doing this to lose more weight, although I suspect that I will lose some weight.  If I do lose, I hope that I will be able to keep these pounds off.  I am wanting to do the master cleanse to see how much ‘sludge’ is in my system, and to let that go once and for all.  I suspect that these toxins are why I haven’t been able to lose more weight, and do the physical exercise needed to lose the weight.  So, I hope to jump out of this cleanse, ease back into eating, and then keep on eating more sensibly, cooking more at home and not relying as much on convenience foods.  Increasing my energy will increase my ability to exercise as well.</p>
<p>Since I have had DS surgery and lost the 180 pounds, I have had some pretty menacing issues with absorbing nutrients.  I have had low vitamin D, and I became deficient of iron enough that I was diagnosed as severely anemic.  My calcium and protein levels have not always been great.  And my parathyroid levels have skyrocketed due to the vitamin D and calcium issues.  Most of these issues I now have under control, or at least well on their way.  But to be sure, and to have more ‘data’, I am going to go get my blood tests done on the first morning of the cleanse (Monday 11/30/09).  I will then get the same blood tests done maybe a week after I end the cleanse, and compare the results.  This should be very interesting to see if I lose vital nutrients during the cleanse time!  This is one thing I’m afraid the cleanse will do, especially since I’ve had weight loss surgery and I don’t absorb nutrients like the normal person.</p>
<p>This cleanse is just kind of weird for me also because I just am not the type of person to NOT eat!  I have always had a good appetite, even when sick.  If I skip dinner, you can bet there is a good reason!  It is very rare.  I do like GOOD food meaning good for me, but in the last year or so I have been eating a higher percentage of processed foods and less vegetables.  The weird thing is, I have maintained my weight almost exactly for over two years, even during this ‘worse eating’ time.  This is good I guess, but now I feel ready to make some more progress.  Bring on the spicy lemonade!!</p>
<p>I definitely have had some physical problems which has led me to this master cleanse.  Nothing that really keeps me from my daily life of work, family, and owning a small business.  But I do get tired a lot, and my foot hurts which keeps me from doing as much exercise as I’d like.  Plus, I suspect that I could have a higher quality of life than I have right now.  That being healthier could really add to my life experience.  Maybe right now I’m just passing through life instead of just living it, you know?  One never knows where they were until they get somewhere else and can enjoy the view back.</p>
<p>So now I am going on a journey where I will give my digestive system a rest for a few days.  Who knows where it will take me?  I know I’m being dramatic, but hey, all of these feelings are coming out when I consider not eating.  I started thinking about how much of my time is centered around eating, preparing for eating, shopping for eating, thinking and learning about eating.  It’s amazing that I ever get out of the kitchen at all!  So I need to have a plan for what to do with all of my extra time, which should not include sitting on my butt watching tv.  Maybe I’d better have that plan to you next time.  Meanwhile, I will sip on my green tea even though I want more coffee.</p>

<p>Last night I made the lemonade, and again today.  I am ‘practicing’… drinking it between meals.  This is so typical ‘me’!  When I feel a pang of hunger, I just take a swig.  I do let myself get hungry for meals though.  I’m talking about the hunger that comes after dinner for things that I don’t need.  By the time I start the cleanse on Monday after Thanksgiving, I hope to have my brain trained to eat less.  Yes, I know, haha, funny to train yourself to eat less around the thanksgiving holidays, I know!  I don’t typically gorge myself with holiday food, so I should be ok.</p>
<p>Thanksgiving I will definitely eat, and the day after we always have soup and sandwiches.  Saturday night my husband is taking me out to Ruth Chris steakhouse.  Yes, I am seeing that I have my entire weekend planned around what food I’m going to eat!  Sunday I plan to eat lightly, perhaps some homemade soups.  Sunday night I will take the laxative tea.   And then Monday I will start the cleanse, with the salt water flush in the morning.</p>
<p>I also practiced the salt water flush this morning.  I seem to need more salt in my solution, probably because I’m using the Celtic grey sea salt.  I think it is less salty than other sea salt, by volume at least.  So I am putting 1 tablespoon of salt in about 25 ounces of water.  Wow I always thought I loved salt, but this stuff is not good.  I pretend that it’s chicken broth and I can get it down.  I don’t think I ‘flushed’ it all out though; I only had one liquidy BM after, about one hour later, which was much longer to wait than I had anticipated!  This worries me a bit as my body seems to be absorbing some of the very salty water.  One thing I haven’t bought yet is the laxative tea, so I didn’t take that the night before.  They say that you take the tea the night before to loosen things up in there, and then the SWF just flushes it all out.  Follow the instructions, Kim!!</p>
<p>I thought I should make a list of goals of what I want to get out of my first cleanse, so I can compare to my results:</p>
<ol>
<li>Be able to complete the 10 day cleanse</li>
<li>Not be tempted to eat any of my kids or weiner dogs during the cleanse</li>
<li>Remove toxins from my body</li>
<li>Good recovery from foot surgery on December 4th</li>
<li>Have more energy during the day</li>
<li>Wake up in the morning easier</li>
<li>Have improved mental clarity</li>
<li>Reduce the dark circles under my eyes</li>
<li>Improved skin</li>
<li>Reduce the size of my ‘man’ tummy.  This is the unfortunate tummy that women get when they’ve had a tummy tuck, and then gain a little weight.  You gain weight in the middle, not at the bottom.  It sucks!!  It’s almost like a pregnant belly, but higher up.  BE GONE, MAN TUMMY!!…</li>
<li>Increased lung capacity (to help with exercise)</li>
<li>Better eyesight</li>
<li>Lose some ‘sludge’ weight, and keep it off</li>
<li>Learn about some of my ‘food’ issues, be able to ponder and journal a bit about them in this blog</li>
<li>Jump start healthier eating</li>
</ol>
<p>I don’t ‘need’ to have a perfect experience and make progress on everything.  Seeing some improvement on three or four of these items would make me VERY happy!!  I can then save the leftover goals for my next cleanse.</p>

<p>And that&#8217;s about it.  If I could do it all again, which is a definite possibility, I would keep a tighter schedule and overstock on materials.  I lost a lot of energy and couldn&#8217;t find enough to stay consistent.  The best way to approach this sort of thing is with a routine and an alternative to that horrid &#8216;Salt Water Flush&#8217;.  And what&#8217;s more, to stalk up on fruits and veggies once it&#8217;s time to acclimate the taste buds back into the real world, though sushi is also an option.</p>

I ate HORRIBLY last night and did not ease into this thing at all. I haven&#8217;t had anything to drink yet but in about 10 minutes I am going to go do that salt water flush. I really don&#8217;t know how I&#8217;m going to do the saltwater flush daily if I have to go work out everymorning first thing. I think I may just get up super super early do it- like 3 am early- and just sleep through the spurts. I do go to bed so early as it is to be up with my husband who has to get up that early.</p>
<p>On another note it is my last day of my well earned weekend and I am going to savor every minute of it. We are going to the movies later so I know that will have its own temptation. Luckily I don&#8217;t much like popcorn as it is.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ll add more in later! Tata!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Today marks me breaking my last years cleanse record! Congratulations me! I say that now that I&#8217;ve finished my SWF. I procrastinated this morning, I just didn&#8217;t want to do it. I left it on the stove to long and it burned my throat. I don&#8217;t know if this interests you, but I add my filtered water and sea salt to a pot and then drink it from the pot or another large container through a straw. I would love to know what other people&#8217;s techniques are for making it easier.</p>
<p>I had a dream I ate the top of a muffin and then started spitting it out because I couldn&#8217;t give up on day 5 and plus, I remembered I have to go through an orange juice/fruit period before eating dougnuts, muffins, waffles, pudding, pizza, pie, cheese cake, sour kraut, red cabbage, Vin&#8217;s fake meat sauce, all the things I crave again. I woke up from it at 4am this morning and had to &#8220;go.&#8221; Got rid of some seriously toxic stuff, all the muffin tops probably.</p>
<p>Woke up again at 7:00am and did my SWF. I got a terrible stomach ache, not as bad as the first day, but bad enough to make me think there is still lots of poisonous stuff floating around in me.</p>
<p>My limbs are quite heavy. I don&#8217;t know if its the yoga or the poisons moving out of my arms and legs. Hope it&#8217;s the latter.</p>

<p>wow, everyone &#8211; this show was clipping along at a fast pace. we did not get to all of the 25+ questions, and dr.leanne was able to take questions live &#8211; the answers to those questions &#8211; about coumadin and blood thinners, a popping knee, and&#8230;i think there was one more but i don&#8217;t know off the top of my head</p>
<p>btw, did you know that dr.leanne sings quite well? i was impressed when she spontaneously broke out into &#8220;the ankle bone is connected to the leg bone&#8230;the leg bone is connected to the thigh bone&#8230;&#8221;</p>
<p>again, we jumped around a myriad of topics &#8211; talked about juicing in the beginning, green lemonade, and a lot of cleansing questions were answered &#8211; many related to her books! i&#8217;m glad dr.leanne said it and not me, she DOES need to come out with a 2nd edition to her book! also&#8230;i will find the new sites that are carrying her books and post them in the member blogs/sites forum.</p>
<p><strong>HERE ARE THE WORKING NOTES:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1.The colon cleanse and kidney cleanse have gone really well but when people get to the Master cleanse, it gets really tought to take the salt water in the morning&#8230;I know it says no substitutions but is there anything else that I can tell them to do to cleanse the tissues in their bodies like the master cleanse does? It is very tough to get the salt water flush down in the morning when I am on the master cleanse. Is there anything else that I can do to cleanse the tissues in my body like the master cleanse does?</strong></p>
<p>I get that about the salt water flush! I reread Stanley Burrough&#8217;s about the Master Cleanse. He says to do it at least once a week and then use a good laxative at night instead. The point of the Salt Water Flush is to clean out the small intestines. Enemas can&#8217;t reach there so this is a whole body enema you might say. I use Comfortone for my laxative. Stanley Burroughs likes Senna Tea. The Master cleanse really does a great job of getting all the toxins that are embedded in the tissues surrounding organs. I think it is probably the best cleanse out there to do just that. However, I suppose you could see what continues ionic foot baths might do for you. I like to use those as a adjunct to helping remove toxins from the body. You could see what taking detoxyme between meals might due. I think that it will take a lot longer to flush the toxins out that way.</p>
<p><strong>2. Questions from book:  In an interview you did the beginning of the year on cleansing you suggested not starting the Master Cleanse until a few months into the liver cleanse (after the other cleansing of course &#8211; colon, yeast, etc.).  But in your book, you suggest completing the MC before starting the liver cleanse.  Which way are you finding is best? </strong></p>
<p>The only reason I put the Master Cleanse before the liver in the book because Lemons are cheaper in the winter.  And the publisher liked it there better.  If you are cleansing for the first time, I would do the liver cleanse before the Master Cleanse then you can get rid of a lot of liver toxins before you do the Master Cleanse. The Master cleanse is pretty tough as it is and can make people fairly sick with the amount of toxins that it releases.  So if you are doing a first time colon cleanse, then I would start the Liver Cleanse after you have very consistent bowel movements and have at least 2 a day. Stay on the colon cleanse while you are on the liver cleanse.  I wouldn’t start the Master cleanse until you have done a liver cleanse for at least 4 months.  You don’t have to follow the seasons to cleanse.  But what is more important is that you cleanse.  It is true right now is a good time to start a colon cleanse because the colon is getting its major energy right now in the fall and it will work with you to cleanse the colon more efficiently.</p>
<p><strong>3. I’m a little confused when reading the Colon Cleanse Protocol (p. 28…) and the “Afterword &#38; Quick Reference Guide” (p. 149…) which simultaneously incorporates additional cleanses.</strong></p>
<p>The protocol on page 28 is perfect to clean your colon. That is exactly how I say to do it.  If someone is really sick and very toxic then you can incorporate other cleanses at the same time while still doing a colon cleanse.  The quick reference guide in the back follows the order of the book by seasons however, you don’t have to do it that way! You can do the liver cleanse first if you want.  Once you do your first very good and deep cleanse then just follow the reference guide every year after that for a few weeks at a time.</p>
<p><strong>4.   Dr. LeAnne sees the 5-Day Cleanse as a good follow up cleanse once targeted cleanses are completed.  I’m wondering if this cleanse might also be good 1st time cleanses to ease into targeted cleanses.  Seems to have worked well for us.  Your thoughts?<br />
</strong><br />
Yes you could use it to ease yourself into a more thorough and targeted cleanse. Mostly I feel that the Nutritive cleanse is more about getting good nutrients and fiber in the body.  It really doesn’t get the colon working again. IT can also be used in conjunction with the Cleansing Trio. <span style="color:purple;"><em>Comment &#8211; we went into much more detail about the pros and cons of this cleanse, i was calling it the nutritive BUILD and not cleanse.  this cleanse is not really used at the clinic.)</em></span></p>
<p><strong>5.   In the cleansing lineup… what’s the best time to do a Parasite Cleanse?  We don’t recognize any particular symptoms… but odds are not in our favor.  We also want to do the Yeast Cleanse… which doesn’t seem to be a big problem either; still we don’t pass the spit test with flying colors.  Should these two precede a Liver Cleanse?  At what point? </strong></p>
<p>It doesn’t really matter when you do a yeast or parasite cleanse. But the parasites don’t leave the body until the colon is clean so you might as well wait until you have been on the colon cleanse for several months.  I put the yeast cleanse in the winter because naturally the body wants lots of meat then which is part of the yeast diet. So that much protein and fewer carbs doesn’t affect the body so much in the winter.  I also recommend not starting a yeast diet until you have gotten rid of a lot of toxins and have good bowels so you don’t have such a strong die off reaction. I have seen that people who have bad yeast and do the Master Cleanse get worse yeast so you may consider doing the yeast cleanse before a Master Cleanse. So the rule is always start a Colon cleanse before you do any other type of cleansing.</p>
<p><span style="color:purple;"><em>Comment: Die-off is HORRIBLE from yeast cleanses &#8211; the worst detox of the cleanses. we talked about how to support yourself w/die-off.</em></span></p>
<p><strong>6.   A couple of years ago at YL Convention in a class on the 5-Day Nutritive  Cleanse we were told that NingXia Red is critical to stop free radical damage caused by toxins being freed from lipid soluble molecules that are being converted to water soluble.  And we heard that the vitamins and minerals in this cleanse also helped prevent that problem.  Is it important to drink NR while doing the other cleanses also… for the same reasons? </strong></p>
<p>Yes! I believe it is important to drink NingXia Red daily! I even drink it during the Master Cleanse and during the yeast cleanse! I don’t consider NxR anything other then necessary for the body!</p>

<p><strong>7. Is there a reason you don&#8217;t include heavy metal chelation with YL Chelex in your book?</strong></p>
<p>Yes, I don’t know that much about metal cleansing.  There is a topic at Ylcleansers.com about metal cleansing as we are learning about it. I never had patients do it so I didn’t gather info. I was given EDTA at the clinic for it. I love Chelex. I use it during the Master Cleanse because I taste metals on my tongue.  Chelex has been discontinued. Here are the ingredients for it. <p><strong>8. Enzymes &#8211; the recommendations are a little confusing in the book &#8211; Do you take the enzymes with the meal or between meals? Can you take Essentialzyme or Detoxyme interchangably?</strong></p>
<p>The reason I used Essentialzyme and Detoxyme interchangeably in the book is because at the time I wrote it the name and formula of Megazyme was being changed and we didn’t know how long it would off the market.  So we had to subsititute detoxyme for Megazyme that then changed it’s name to Essentialzyme.  They are different enzymes meant for different things. Essentialzyme  dissolves the mucoid plague in the bowel. I would take it between meals. Detoxyme assists the body in breaking down toxins. Take them with a meal to assist with protein digestion and between meals to assist with cleaning up the blood stream.</p>
<p><strong>9. Does everyone have mucoid plaque to pass, or only people with poor health? </strong></p>
<p>If you have had a diet that consists of white flour products and milk and little fiber and roughage then you have mucoid plaque.</p>

THEN FIRST THING I DID LAST NIGHT AFTER I HAD A REALLY GOOD “LAST MEAL” I TOOK MY SMOOTH MOVE HERBAL STIMULANT LAXATIVE TEA AT AROUND 11PM THURSDAY NIGHT,AND THE NEXT MORNING I HAD A RUMBLNG FEELING IN MY STOMACH ,I WENT TO THE BATHROOM AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A LONG TIME I HAD A SUCCESSFUL BM .<br />
SO TODAY IS FRIDAY AND I AM DOING MY SALT WATER FLUSH I NOTICED THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE COULDN’T REALL STOMACH THE SALT WATER FLUSH ,BUT I DO KNOW THAT IT IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF THE MASTER CLEANSE .<br />

It&#8217;s better and worse. You realise just how many people are trying to get you to buy shit you shouldn&#8217;t eat on TV. You switch it off. Then you recognise how many times you talk yourself into eating food you don&#8217;t need. That&#8217;s not so easy to turn off.</p>
<p>But there&#8217;s unexpected fun. Like the Salt Water Flush. It&#8217;s not for the squeamish. Before I tried it I didn&#8217;t really appreaciate the meaning of &#8216;flush&#8217;. I chugged my one litre of salt water and waited. Then it clicked. Flush&#8230;</p>
<p>The random pics in this entry aren&#8217;t so random, I took them some of my the walks I frantically find myself doing since the cleanse. More on that later.</p>

<p>Before I started I had to make sure I got the elements right. The ironic thing about Korea is everyone is so thin but as soon as you develop special dietary needs you realise just how many times you&#8217;re offered food, agressively. Last week I tried to clean up my system after the rock festival but it was impossible doing that while I still had to go to school. Because it&#8217;s officially vacation the few teachers who were working in the office made sure to order the partyjunky food. They tossed out the regular rice,  kimchi and sensible side dishes in favour of black sauce noodles, fried pork, udon, and many others that I love way too much but am aware we&#8217;re not friends. I must have said no five times. But of course they thought I was being coy. I tried the magic word, &#8216;di-e-teh,&#8217; which normally works.  How they laughed. The head teacher was all, &#8216;Man dieteh no.&#8217; And he thought he was being funny when he grabbed his tummy to show me just how much I have to go before I can call myself a man.</p>

<p>So this Monday I was prepared to be as offensive as possible because I needed to get ready for Master Cleanse. Fortunately, the head teacher wasn&#8217;t there to do what he thinks is cajoling me into eating. Instead it was the vice principal and a bunch of other teachers who blushed when they had to ask me for my passport. (I sorted out the blushers but saying noand looking away immediately, they&#8217;re not gonna yell and bring me back to the table, are they?)</p>
<p> I love the VP. He&#8217;s like a distant father. When I said, &#8216;dieteh&#8217; he smiled and nodded &#8216;yeh&#8217;. The principal was there too, he&#8217;s a fattist but also a jolly grandfather type with jokes for every situation. Diets are his favourite thing. After tending the flowers and greeting the kids with his booming voice in the morning, he normally shuts his foundation caked face in his tropical garden themed office and only comes out to eat once in a while. When he eats lunch with us, like, once a week, it&#8217;s an event led by his throaty voice and jokes that include calling me &#8216;Lebanon.&#8217;  He&#8217;s major fierce.<!--more--></p>

<p>With nothing stopping me I bought the supplies. And started on Wednesday. The lemonade tastes good. Some people complain about the cayenne pepper. But I enjoy it. Then again I think nothing of the salt water flush. I haven&#8217;t had any  hunger pangs yet. On the first day it was as if nothing was happening. Yesterday was good too. Except I started spouting off hallucinatory philosophies like, &#8216;Food can&#8217;t talk.&#8217; Generally, I feel calm, which is the main reason I went on this thing. I felt so restless and bloated and wanted to be cleaned out somehow. And nothing cleans you out quite like this, especially the salt water flush. Sorry, I&#8217;m obsessed.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been going on a lot of walks. I don&#8217;t know why. But I just feel like leaving the house and walking by the river or exploring my town and its people.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m not sure I&#8217;ll do that tonight. I worked out yesterday, nothing major. It&#8217;s just that when I realised I would probably lose weight faster than I normally do on with my excercise and food, I was immediately scared of getting droopy. So I&#8217;m trying to keep the essential parts of my regular work out, except I was able to do ten push-ups only for the second time in my life yesterday. That was probably too much because this morning I woke up with the desire to sleep forever. I&#8217;m better now but I think it has to do with the food nightmare I just had.</p>
<p>I tried to read a silly book I got from the library for distraction but I couldn&#8217;t keep fighting the rigor motis of major exhaustion. I had the weirdest dream. I was flying to my house from school. (That&#8217;s not the weird part, I have flying dreams all the time). Then I got into my apartment and felt I was suddenly the consistency of a ghost. Somehow I pulled a cake from an internet page. Chocolate. And without really making the decision to eat it I had already finished it. Then I realised I was on the Master Clease. How I freaked out. Thankfully my phone rang and saved me from in-nightmare suicide. Funny thing is I haven&#8217;t even had cake in eight months probably. It&#8217;s nothing I think about.</p>

<p>I&#8217;m not craving anything now. And the nightmare of eating something to threaten the cleanse without thinking has me wide awake. I think it was probably brought on by the food lesson I had with the kids today. There was so much bread and chocolate. The only thing I wanted though, was a tuna and egg salad one of the kids brought.</p>

I lost inches as well the most around my neck and waist which was the most noticeable. Besides the weight loss overall I feel really clean on the inside its hard to explain but its a good feeling.</p>
<p>It was a humbling and interesting experience. I don&#8217;t think I have ever missed more than a day without food so imediately I realized how blessed I have been. Well lets break it down day by day.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>The Night Before:</strong> The Laxative Tea&#8230;.it wasn&#8217;t as bad as I expected as far as taste. I&#8217;m real picky and was skeptical after not enjoying several detox teas before&#8230;</li>
<li><strong>Day 1:</strong>The salt water flush this by far was the worst part or me. Its the sickest most vile thing I have ever tasted. Ok it wasn&#8217;t that bad I just mixed it wrong with 2 tbs instead of tsp which resulted in me throwing it right back up</li>
<li><strong>Day 2:</strong> I was surprisingly not hungry although I had several daydreams about cooking, pizza, and hot wings. I had already lost 5lbs I was so excited and it motivated me to continue.</li>
<li><strong>Day 3:</strong>Still not hungry but found myself going to the fridge out of habit. There were so many temptations around my house even some of the healthy options like cherries my mother had out.</li>
<li><strong>Day4:</strong>I was in total shock that I made it so far and now it seemed like nothing. One girl at work at already stopped and we started at the same time. I also found some lemon and lime juice not from concentrate at Whole Foods which was a lifesaver because I was getting tired of squeezing lemons.</li>
<li><strong>Day 5: </strong>So its Friday thank God I&#8217;m going on a retreat so I don&#8217;t have to worry about my friends tempted me but I did have to explain to the people at the retreat why I wasn&#8217;t eating and I did get some looks.</li>
<li><strong>Day 6:</strong>I did the lax tea instead of the SWF since I had to share a room with someone but I think it was worse because my stomach was crampy and I felt nauseous. I also was getting annoyed with the taste of the lemonade. I found myself sleep a lot getting a nap whenever I could.</li>
<li><strong>Day 7:</strong> I check my weight daily to see if their was a difference between the lemon juice and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Since I was on retreat I couldn&#8217;t check my weight until the morning but I did get a sneak peek and there where know differences.</li>
<li><strong>Day 8:</strong> I switched to limeade. The lemons were starting to gross me out and by golly I think I like this wayyyy more. I also was at my lowest weight on the cleanse 13.4 lbs gone!</li>
<li><strong>Day 9:</strong> I am already planning my meal I can&#8217;t wait to eat something. I also forgot to drink my tea the night before and notices  I gained 2lbs.  I was a bit worried but I fell asleep again forget my tea.</li>
<li><strong>Day 10:</strong> I swear I thought this day would never come but I did it. I had the SWF down drinking it faster than ever and its actually not that bad when you mix it right. My weight stayed the same think God and now on to breaking the diet.</li>
<li><strong>Day 1 off the cleanse:</strong> So now it on to orange juice all day. I still surprised I&#8217;m not hungry or falling for the temptations around me like the big pretzel my fam had at this concert in the park. Geeesh people are mean lol.</li>
<li><strong>Day 2 off the cleanse:</strong> Well this is where I&#8217;m at now. OJ for breakfast and I bought a veggie soup from Treasure Island for lunch and dinner. It&#8217;s best to make it yourself but I have to get to work</li>

<p>This whole thing has been fun and I might do it twice a year. I think cleanse are necessary just for good health and ridding the body of toxins especially with the threat of swine flu this fall. I also started probiotics to get that good bacteria back in my body.</p>

This the my last day of the master cleanse and my last day of dealing with the grossest thing in the world the salt water flush. I&#8217;m sitting here now trying to drink all 32 ounces of this salty crap as fast as I can.</p>
<p>Salt salt water flush is like an internal bath for your colon and organs. It does result in the immediate need to make several eliminations in about 1-2 hours. So that&#8217;s why I&#8217;m rushing because I don&#8217;t want any problems going to work.</p>

<p>Overall this is the worst part of the cleanse in my opionion but wash everything clears out and the pounds fall off its worth the funny faces and horrid taste.</p>
<p>The mix consist of 2 tsp. of sea salt (non-iodized) and 32. 0z of distilled water (spring is fine too). Its best to drink it warm some add lemon juice to help with the taste but in my opinion that made it worse&#8230;&#8230;.holding on a sec time for me to get this down before I get carried away&#8230;.</p>
<p>&#8230;ok maybe not its too hot&#8230;and nothing is worst than throwing up salt water. Its best to drink it warm not hot. I try to pretend its a salty soup or something and just gulp, gulp. gulp without thing about it.</p>
<p>The night before I drink a herbal laxative tea. I have tried the chocolate and regular. Its actually aren&#8217;t as bad as I expected since I love to load honey in my teas&#8230;.but don&#8217;t do this just drink it down the night before or mores you can&#8217;t do the SWF.</p>

<p>I have found that the regular tea is a bit better maybe becasue I love chocolate and the tease is not right.</p>
<p>Well hopefully my SWF has cooled down because I am cutting it close but I will be back later to review this whole experience  and share my recipe as well.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:justify;">I haven&#8217;t had any soda today and I have tried to think carefully about everything that I put into my mouth.  No radical changes yet, just noticing things more.  I&#8217;m getting ready for the fast already.  If it has sugar or a long list of ingredients perhaps I just don&#8217;t need it.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I also tried to drink salt water for the first time today. Pretty gross, yo.  Several of the fasting plans suggest that you drink a quart of room temp water with 2 teaspoons of non-iodinized sea salt mixed in either as needed or every other day.  This helps move everything through if you know what I mean. I think I am going to be an &#8220;as needed person.&#8221;</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">A lot of people said they couldn&#8217;t force themselves to drink the salt water, or if they could they threw it back up.  I was curious what my reaction would be so I tried.  I made it about 3/4 of the way through before I&#8217;d had enough.  I think by not pushing that last bit I managed to hold it down with no problem.  It is that gross though.  Seems to be working, there&#8217;s some rumblin&#8217; in my tummy.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">I have been doing a lot of reading and doctors do not recommend doing this often (esp not while fasting) as it can pull water out of your system too quickly and deplete your electrolites.  Fair enough.  I might stock Gatoraid for the days I feel I need to do this.  But if I am uncomfortable at any point and having a hard time going to the bathroom because their just isn&#8217;t a lot of food going in I think I would rather have this as a backup than become dependent on laxatives.  Something about laxatives really creeps me out.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">The point of this entire exercise for me is to think more seriously about what I put into my mouth and clean out my system.  I have tried &#8220;cleansers&#8221; from health food stores.  I usually just feel sick while I take them and constipated after my body flushes them out.  At the end I feel just as heavy (in a gastronomical sense) as I need before I took anything.  I am going to give myself a chance this time to do go it alone this time.  No crazy drugs or pills&#8230;if that means a little nasty salt water now and then, so be it.</p>

<p>The picture at left is pretty much what my kitchen looked like today.</p>
<p>This was my day of nothing but fresh squeezed orange juice, although I did opt to do the salt water rinse one more time. I went through two big bags of organic oranges, which cost a small fortune, and boy was that juice delicious.</p>
<p>I wasn&#8217;t sure what to expect from the day. I&#8217;m hungrier than on the lemonade days, but not as much as I&#8217;d expected. I&#8217;ve been a bit bearish this evening, but I blame it on the fact that my girls made chocolate mints after dinner. I&#8217;m entitled to a little crankiness, don&#8217;t you agree? Well, don&#8217;t you?</p>
<p>Two good things happened in my writing career today, although I seem to be the only one who sees them as significant. First, I got accepted to write about Natural Health in Seattle for an online news journal. I&#8217;m excited about it, and it actually pays. Ok, it probably won&#8217;t put the kids through college, but it&#8217;s another line in the water.</p>
<p>The second thing, speaking of &#8216;pay&#8217; is that I got my first money as a writer today. It&#8217;s for one of my e-How articles and I&#8217;m very pleased. So, it&#8217;s only $.14 and I don&#8217;t actually get it till it&#8217;s up to $10, but it&#8217;s a start and that&#8217;s what matters.</p>

<p>Tomorrow I get vegetable broth, and those veggies are on my counter staring at me right now. I can only imagine how that broth is going to taste. I&#8217;m focusing on that to cleanse my brain of the one image that&#8217;s been sitting in it all day: <strong>Nachos</strong>.  Yes, I put that in bold letters to emphasis its power over my psyche all day. I&#8217;m not talking your cheap 7-Eleven middle-of-the-night-process-cheese-food snack. No, my friend. I&#8217;m talking organic tortilla chips topped with home cooked pinto beans and an extra sharp antibiotic-free cheddar (made from happy cows). That&#8217;s just the base. Top that off with crispy organic shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onions, shredded carrot, and my own personal favorite, fresh jalapenos. Add a dollop of fresh sour cream and we&#8217;re ready for dinner.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m happier just for having written that. Sorry if I made your stomach growl.</p>

<p>Today wasn&#8217;t to bad. I totally forgot that I agreed to keep my 4, yes 4 nieces for the next 3 days. I went to the grocery store and purchased almost $100 worth of food for the girls. My secret though, was to buy majority of things that I already do not like teehhee.</p>
<p>So, for dinner, I cooked them spaghetti and garlic bread/ melted mozzerella cheese on top. The smell was delish! But, I digress, I didn&#8217;t stumble.</p>
<p>I drank my smooth move the night before, in the daytime I drank the SWF. For the first time, I tried something different. I took my 2tsp of salt water, and mixed it in with enough warm water to make like a shot. I drank down 16oz of water, then the shot, then finished another 160z of water. It seemed to work for me, but my elimination didn&#8217;t seem as strong as it had been in the past when I had just mixed all the water in there together.</p>
<p>Oh, and did I mention that after my nieces got here that I went to make my lemonade for the day..how about my lemons were moldy and rotting!!! I freaked. I just bought these like Sat/Sun evening. How on Earth. Instead of flipping out, I calmly called the store and they agreed to exchange them out for me.</p>
<p>All in all, yesterday was a pretty good day. Eventhough I had a few bumps in the road. I wasn&#8217;t able to drink all the lemonade, I think I got in about 50oz instead of the necessary 60oz.</p>
<p>Took my smooth move @ 1am this morning. Good night</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Since returning from holiday I lost some weight, well at least I looked less bulky than I did. The joys of travelling with an annoying person! My friends and I have been joking that I should have extended the holiday, that way I would have lost a lot more weight. Anyway, I have started my detox today and currently just looking at my early morning salt water flush and trying my best to avoid having it.</p>
<p>I have nothing else to report other than that I am hoping this will be a smooth cleanse. I have armed myself with various herbal teas and looking to get wheatgrass shots along the way. I am not sure how often I will update this blog, however I suppose I will attempt a daily update.</p>
<p>Hopefully I will be able to take long walks or jog early morning. I also plan to carry on with my weights and sit ups; while part of me wants to invest in slendertone, although I am not sure if that&#8217;s a good idea.</p>
<p>The good thing about this is that I will be able to see a difference daily. I really want to be able to weigh in on Saturday after 5 days. But we&#8217;ll see how long I can hold on. On the other hand, daily weigh ins will encourage me to do more exercise if I am falling behind &#8211; we&#8217;ll see.</p>
<p>Towards the end, I will plan my diet &#8211; I mean it is quite straight forward, having done this before.</p>
<p>Weight: 69.2 kg</p>
<p>Goal: 50 kg</p>
<p>Time: 21 days</p>

<p>It was nice to read the experiences of other people who have gone through the same process while I was downing my salty drink.</p>
<p>The gal who writes the blog does a nice job of explaining what the salt water rinse does and how it works.  Some of the comments, however, lead me to believe that too many people do the cleanse without reading the books. There&#8217;s a lot of misinformation on the internet that leads people to piece together their own version of what they think will work (kind of like what people do with religion, but that&#8217;s a whole other topic). My point is, read at least one of the books and get the facts so you understand the science behind each step of the cleanse.</p>
<p>No point in going through this process just to unknowingly sabotage yourself.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Tonight I am experimenting a bit with both the lemonade and the salt water flush just to see what I can expect. I guess I want to know what to expect in terms of flavors and feelings.</p>
<p>Is the salt water flush going to totally blow my insides out? Who knows! I just started drinking my first batch and it seems a little difficult to stomach. I am definitely choking this down more than the lemonade. Though I tend to like salt, I am finding the sea salt in water to be worse than the cayenne pepper in the lemonade.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s 10:30pm now so by midnight, I expect to have completed my first flush.</p>
