100 Yards From Britney Spears-  Boy, that Britney Spears just can’t keep her pretty little toosh out of the newspapers.  One minute she’s on the Mickey Mouse club list of “most likely to succeed” then it went all down hill from there.  She started doing lots of blow and washed down those prescription drugs with lots of booze.  She married that loser K Fed who ended up getting the kids and half her money.  Then there was that fashion faux pas with the head shaving and a car chase or two.  Hell, she even sued her parents over a few million dollars that came up missing from her checking account.  But, when’s it all going to end?  Probably never because now her two favorite stalkers have to stay 100 yards away from her.

A judge on Tuesday ordered Britney Spears‘ former self-styled manager Sam Lutfi to stay away from the pop star for three years, after the singer’s father accused Lutfi of trying to violate the ridiculous conservatorship Brit is forced to follow.  The judge also issued the same order to attorney Jon Eardley, who has presented himself as Spears’ lawyer.   Lutfi and Eardley, whose attorneys argued that the order was unwarranted, were told to “stay at least 100 yards away from Spears, her family and her homes or they would be delt with in a less than pleasant manner”  (http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090429/people_nm/us_spears;_ylt=Asb.UAuLvzJ8o86kdr3g4qlxFb8C).

A court placed Brit under a conservatorship last year, after she was hospitalized for going on a binge and losing her goddman mind.  Her goofy father, Jamie Spears, says his control over her affairs enabled Brit to launch her ongoing “Circus” tour, but that’s a totally different story because she sued him for that one.  An attorney for Papa Spears argued that Lutfi and Eardley continually stalked the 27-year-old singer to no friggin end, and that Eardley filed legal motions on her behalf even though he did not officially represent her.  Well who did he officially represent?  Himself and his other stalking buddy?  Sounds like another episode of “100 Yards from Britney Spears.”  Next week’s show features a breaking and entering charge after K Fed kicked in the door because Brit wouldn’t open it.  Stay tuned.

Spears, 27, whose phone access is strictly limited by her father Jamie, had initially called Sam’s cell phone number in mid-January to speak with Christina.

“[Britney] told me she wanted to get a hold of Sam,” said Christina, 25, whose brother had once been Spears’s manager. “She wanted him to help her find a lawyer, and wanted someone to get a prepaid cell phone to her. She was scared because her father was blackmailing her with visitation rights over her kids.” 

Britney is 27 years old, and yes, she has had some drama in her life but, should her father be in total control of her life and career?  We can all see the benefits of her father having control but, is this right?  Why or why not?

Britney Spears hasn’t had a crazy incident in quite some time, mainly because she’s been under the careful watch of her handlers. A new report in OK! says that Brit Brit is chaffing at the bit, and is ready to fly free again.

This week things between Sam Lutfi, Adnan Ghalib, and her conservator and father, Jamie Spears, turned ugly. They sued him and Britney.

According to OK!, Britney was the one who reached out to Adnan and Osama Lutfi – with disastrous results.

Right now, Lutfi and Adnan must stay at least 250 yards away from Britney and her family.

The ruling resulted from revelations that Britney “has had numerous telephone conversations with both Mr. Lutfi and Mr. Ghalib and has exchanged numerous text messages with both of them,” said court documents.<br …

Britney: Apparently those restraining orders come with a price.  Sam Lutfi is suing Brit Brit for defamation.  Wonder if the court will rule him a public figure?

TV: The Los Angeles Times is reporting that a new study shows watching TV can lead to depression.  That’s funny, because TV is what keeps us out of it!

HBO: In yet another example of art imitating life, the cable network is developing a new series that will explore the current finanial crisis.  Are they sure spending money on this series is a wise idea given the crisis in the first place?!

Gawker: With newspapers failing and even online sites suffering, Gawker asks: would people rather pay to read the current level of NYT journalism, or have it go away? Not an easy question when you love The New York Times but can’t afford to “waste” money like that.

Sam Lutfi filed a lawsuit against Britney Spears and her parents for libel and defamation, the Associated Press reports. Sam Lutfi is Britney’s former manager.

Lutfi’s attorney, Bryan J. Freedman said in a statement Tuesday that there is “overwhelming evidence from independent witnesses” proving his client’s case and that “at the time of the trial in this action, the jury will have an opportunity to weigh the credibility of the witnesses.”

Jamie Spears, Britney’s Dad and permanent conservator, was granted a restraining order against Sam Lutfi and Britney’s ex Adnan Ghalib, on Friday.

According to court papers Jamie felt Lutfi and Ghalib were trying to gain control of Britney’s affairs.

Michael Phelps: So aside from the fact that smoking marijuana is illegal, we don’t see what the big deal is.  It’s such a common thing for people his age.  And it’s unfair that, because of his Olympic success, he’s been put on this pedestal in a role model-like position.  Cut him some slack!

Oprah: We have to wonder if hiring a former MTV CEO to head up her network is the best idea.  Something tell us MTV and the Oprah Winfrey Network won’t be going after the same audiences…

and a lawyer.

People Magazine reports, Spears’s father says her cell phone records show “numerous telephone conversations” and text messages with her ex-manager Sam Lutfi and former boyfriend, paparazzo Adnan Ghalib.

“[Britney] innocently informs [Ghalib] of her destinations and he then arranges for paparazzi to meet and film her to his financial benefit,” Jamie Spears says. “[He] is harmful to Ms. Spears and to her recovery.”

The restraining orders forbid Lutfi and Ghalib from contacting Spears or coming within 250 yards of her, her property or family members.

Britney has really turned her life around over the last year – a platinum album and a huge concert tour – let’s hope she continues on this great path.

I did, and was genuinely surprised at how articulate and eloquent that Britney Spears came across.  Considering that Ms Spears’ formal education ended by the 9th Grade, I was particularly impressed at how well spoken she was.  She answered all questions with poise and a refreshing honesty not seen in most celebrity documentaries, which these days are mostly nothing more than ’puff pieces’. 

I’ve always thought she was fucking hot, even during her ‘cheeto’s’ years.  I’d still have done her if given the opportunity!

Although what is edivent is that while there is no doubt that she was indeed the ‘victim’ of some pretty horrible things (eg: Her mother essentially ‘pimping’ her out as the families main breadwinner since childhood; the ongoing harrassment from the papparazzi; K-Fed using her for fame and money; Sam Lutfi swindling her money, selling her possessions, and drugging her; Adnan Ghalib selling intimate footage of their various escapades, etc), we have all witnessed that she is a young woman who is more than capable of making her own informed decisions.  She admits that she made some severe misjudgments and mistakes in the past and is still to this day paying dearly for these, but instead of dwelling on the negatives of her past; looks forward to the future. 

I was also so shocked to see just how crazy the papparazzi can be!  The footage of her in the black tinted SUV looking around in confusion as a heated fight appears to be breaking out outside of the car, while papparazzi are swarming upon the car to catch a glimpse of any trace of fear on Britney’s face; was very intense.  

I hold the belief that any celebrity signs an almost invisible or implied contract when becoming famous.  By courting the media early in their career for financial gain and or promotional purposes, they then accept that the papparazzi are merely another part of their job description.  In order to recieve the public adulation, the money, and the other benifits of fame; a lack of privacy is an assumed sacrifice.  They then have no right to complain years later once they have got what they have always wanted, as they were well aware of what they are getting themselves into.  

However, unless they have killed someone and are serving a life prison sentence; no human being ever deserves to spend 24/7 confined indoors.  It is incredible to even begin to imagine what that must be like.   It was eye opening to see just how lonely her existence really is..  Unable to leave the house, with her only real ‘friends’ being either family or hired help;  all of whom are living off her fortune.  It must be hard to trust even the closest to you when you realise that you are the one paying for everything.

And yet, I do not really pity her, as she herself even stated that she could easily sell up her Beverly Hills mansion, and retreat back to Louisianna to live comfortably off royalties and raise her children in peace and privacy.  The option was always there, she has just made the decision to remain in the public eye.  To a certain degree I think she is addicted to the attention, just because she has had it her entire life.

Either way I think she’s a babe, and I find her even more appealing the fatter and crazier she gets.  It’s kind of disappointing to see her ‘back on track’.  Give me the drug-fucked Britney anyday

When I see some errors on the Web I think that the writer is sloppy, lazy, and maybe devoid of some basic smarts. I don’t mean to be rude, but that’s what I thought when I read an article about Britney Spears on Yahoo! Shine. Among the clichés, punctuation problems, and bloated sentences are these cringe-inducing errors: 

Apparently the writer knows that paparazzo is the singular form of paparazzi, but couldn’t figure out that the plural form of paparazzo is paparazzi.

Did you make questionable dating choices in the 1920s? I’m thinking maybe the writer got a tad bit confused and used an apostrophe (which signals the omission of letters or numbers) here:

What’s worse than confusing a Mouseketeer with a musketeer? Confusing a Mouseketeer with a musketeer AND misspelling musketeer:

Kevin probably came out looking like a real standup citizen, not just a citizen who can stand up:

I’m not sure that Ms. Spears hired Mr. Lutfi as both her manager and her boyfriend (maybe just as her boyfriend), but I am sure his name is incorrect:

Larry Rudolph is (sadly) extinguishing speculation/hope about a possible Britney Spears performance at September’s MTV Video Music Awards.

Although hair stylist Kim Vo recently insinuated that Britney might perform based on the number of hair styles he was preparing for her, Britney’s manager told Ryan Seacrest this morning that “Britney Spears will not be performing at the VMAs this year. I’m telling you officially and unequivocally.”

An attorney for Britney Spears said Wednesday that he will not seek an extension for a restraining order against Osama “Sam” Lutfi, but that doesn’t mean the pop star wants her former sidekick back in her life.

“Britney has made clear to everyone that she does not want to be further harassed or contacted in any way by Osama ‘Sam’ Lutfi, now or at anytime in the future,” Spears’ attorney Samuel D. Ingham III said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Lutfi, for the time being, seems willing to go along with those wishes.

He called the AP late Wednesday and released the following statement: “Mr. Lutfi and Mr. Spears have mutually agreed in private that no hearing or order is necessary at this time.”

He declined further comment.

Attorneys for Spears and her father, James, are expected to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom Thursday morning to give an update on the conservatorship. A hearing on a temporary restraining order barring Lutfi from having contact with the pop singer was also scheduled for Thursday. The order issued earlier this year required Lutfi to stay 250 yards away from Spears or her homes.

Lutfi represented one of the strangest twists in Spears’ downward spiral earlier this year. The singer’s mother accused Lutfi – who described himself as a friend and sometime manager – in court papers of keeping Spears a hostage in her own home, drugging her and taking over her finances.

He was a fixture in Spears’ life during a period when the star exhibited erratic behavior, including being photographed without underwear, and occasionally looking dazed in public and had to twice be hospitalized.

Spears’ father has control over his 26-year-old daughter’s personal life and finances.

That power negates the need for a restraining order against Lutfi since James Spears’ role as conservator allows him to decide who sees his daughter, according to Ingham’s statement.

He serves as a court-appointed counsel representing Spears’ interest in the ongoing conservatorship case.

“During the temporary conservatorship, the conservators have the power to insure that Lutfi will not harm Britney anymore,” Ingham wrote.

Thursday’s hearing had originally been scheduled to decide whether the conservatorship should be made permanent, but Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz decided weeks ago that she would instead consider other issues.

It is unclear how long Spears’ affairs will remain under her father’s control, but Ingham wrote that he does not expect her feelings about Lutfi to change.

“If Mr. Lutfi makes any future attempt to contact Britney after the temporary conservatorship has concluded, Britney has made clear she will take all appropriate legal action,” Ingham wrote.
