Being roughly similar in terms of general appearance, both due to the fact that the Samsung J700, like the Samsung G600, is a sliderphone, as well as the general configuration of the keys, both these mobile phones do bear a striking resemblance to one another. Discounting their appearances however, there are drastically, and just as striking, differences between the phones that make a comparison of features pretty heavily tilted in one direction.

Comparing Features of the Samsung J700 and Samsung G600

Seeing as the size and profile are pretty similar, as too is the weight, the most obvious difference on the outside at least would be the display itself. By using a 2 inch TFT screen with 65,000 colours, the Samsung J700’s screen really does fall short of the 2.2 inch TFT screen with 16 million colours that the Samsung G600 uses. This, of course, is but the first hint of things to come.

Moving onwards to the camera, the G600 has one of those amazing 5.0 megapixel cameras at its disposal, complete with an autofocus, flash and digital zoom. Tragicly, the Samsung J700 has to settle for a 1.3 megapixel camera that has neither the flash nor autofocus. Unlike the difference between, say a 3.2 megapixel camera with all the trimmings and a similar 5.0 megapixel camera, the difference between a 1.3 megapixel camera with no trimmings and a 5.0 megapixel camera with pretty much everything, is truly apparent.

In terms of storage, again, the Samsung J700 only has 10 MB internally, and is forced to battle against the 40 MB that the Samsung G600 has to contribute. Both mobile phones include support for microSD cards, and to be completely honest, the internal storage is not too much of a problem considering that the bulk of storage space will inevitably come from the microSD card.

Most of the other differences are somewhat cosmetic in nature, with the Samsung G600 having various utilities such as the picture editor, that more than enhance the scope of functions that may be carried out.

One mans meat may be another mans poison, but clearly the Samsung G600 is ahead of the Samsung J700 in many ways, including its price tag. For all the features that it offers it does not take a rocket scientist to figure out exactly why the Samsung G600 is priced considerably higher than the Samsung J700.

In short, they are both different types of mobile phones that are geared towards differing types of users. On the whole, the Samsung G600 would be the much better option for anyone who regularly uses the photography features on their mobile phones, whereas the Samsung J700 is more for the many casual users that do not require a 5.0 megapixel camera for them to use.

If feature packed power and the ability to produce quality images using a mobile phone while at the same time having the functionality to be able to perform anything up to minor image editing, then the Samsung G600 provides all that, and more.

The Samsung Moment wasn’t a phone I’d originally intended on test-driving, but it was on display immediately next to the Pre and it runs Android, so I decided to give it a go.  Software-wise it seemed pretty similar to the CLIQ I tried at T-Mobile, though it is a slightly older version (1.5 “Cupcake” instead of 1.6 “Donut”) so there are some small differences.  After my hands-on I learned that the Moment has an 800MHz processor that is supposedly much faster than its competitors, but I couldn’t tell while using it.  The keyboard was a bit laggy and scrolling was sometimes a bit herky-jerky, putting its performance merely on par with the other phones I’ve tried.

Build-wise I was unimpressed.  While it didn’t feel shoddy, it also didn’t feel as solid as I’d like.  There was a bit of give in the body when twisted and buttons wiggled a little more than I’d like them to, but overall there was nothing that gave me serious concern.  I’m beginning to suspect I’m simply spoiled by the iPhone’s rigidity, but regardless it’s the standard I’ve come to expect in that department.  Also, the headphone and USB jacks had those annoying little rubber covers you have to pick at to get off, which I really didn’t like.  Related to the build, the phone felt kind of big.  In terms of raw measurements it actually isn’t much bigger than my iPhone and isn’t dramatically heavier, but something about it just felt kind of clunky.  It might be its less-than-slick design, or the presence of the massive keyboard, but whatever it is it does make the phone seem a little hefty regardless of whether or not it actually is.

The keyboard is indeed huge, and it really set this phone apart from the others I’ve seen.  The numbers get their own row (unlike the Pre and the CLIQ), the keys aren’t in perfect, vertical, un-keyboard-like rows (unlike the Pre and the CLIQ), and the keys are big enough and have enough space between them to be usable by my big hands.  I found it one of the more comfortable hard keyboards I’ve used, and a big improvement over the Pre’s.  The keyboard layout, however, really wrecks what otherwise could have been my favorite keyboard so far.  The space bar is annoyingly inserted between the V and B keys, and the letters on the bottom row are aligned with the letters above them differently than a normal keyboard layout.  So you basically have to learn a new keyboard layout to type on this keyboard.  While I’m sure that could be accomplished with time, it was maddening to try to use it initially because my fingers kept going to the wrong places.  While I understand the placement of the space key is made tricky by the welcome addition of a dedicated row of number keys, I felt it was simply unwise to put the function and shift keys on the left where they bump the top and middle rows of letters out of place.

The phone seems like it has some advantage over the others on paper, but the real-world implementation really left me underwhelmed.  I’d be willing to overlook the dull design and obnoxious port covers if there weren’t any functional problems (e.g. the keyboard was improved), but as it is it’s just another point against the Moment.  Hopefully Samsung’s future Android efforts will improve.

Samsung has revealed 2 new handsets recently, the full touch screen handset, Samsung S7070 and the Clamshell Device S5150 codenamed as Olivia. The release of these phone also marks the start of the new “Diva” design line in Samsung.

Samsung S7070 which runs on TouchWiz UI features a 3″ WQVGA resistive touchscreen display and a 5 Megapixel Autofocus camera. Other features of this phone are built-in FM radio and microSD card slot, a standard microUSB connector, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and Support for EDGE/GPRS. The pricing of the device is yet to known and it is supposed to hit the shelves in Q1 2010

Samsung S5150 Olivia is a female oriented clamshell device. Today’s release means that Spotify Mobile is now available on millions more phones, such as the Nokia 6220 Classic, E71 and 5800 XpressMusic models. The application will also run on some of the more popular Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones, such as the Samsung GT-I8910 Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio. Symbian is our third launch for Spotify Mobile, along with previously released iPhone and Android versions.

Spotify has expanded its mobile reach with a launch onto the Symbian platform – a potentially huge new audience spanning around half of the global smartphone market.

As well as a large range of Nokia handsets, the app will also run on a selection of Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones running the Symbian platform, such as the Samsung GT-I8910 Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio.

To get Spotify’s Symbian application, users can either download it directly to their phones by visiting m.spotify.com through their mobile web browser, or by entering their phone number on the new Symbian information page to receive instructions via an SMS.

As with the other iPhone and Android Spotify offerings, the Symbian app is only available to those who are Premium, i.e., paid-up members of the service.

The two brands are believed to be electronic giants of the world. Both have created and manufactured quality appliances and devices that they now earned top spots in Home Entertainment Industry. For image and picture quality, Samsung and Sony present to us a very tight battle. Samsung is equipped with 100Hz processing technology which offers smooth motions and no degradation on picture quality. The Bravia technology has a Live Color processing giving vivid images with true colors. Quality images that are crisp, clear, and in true colors are promised by both Samsung and Sony LCD TVs.

These two brands are indeed distinguished fighters. The Sony Bravia KDL-40W4000 and the Samsung LE40A656 LCD TV have just proven that they look stunning and classy, perform remarkably well, and deliver superior images and interesting features.
