<p>The success of Capcom&#8217;s <em>Street Fighter II</em> resulted in a legion of imitators.  SNK recruited some of the designers of the original <em>Street Fighter</em> from 1987, but considering how terribly that game actually plays it should come as no surprise that efforts like <em>Art of Fighting </em>and <em>Fatal Fury</em> were complete garbage.  SNK finally righted the ship with <em>Samurai Shodown</em>, which incidentally plays much more like <em>SFII</em> than the previously-mentioned efforts, while maintaining the high special effects SNK became known for.  The setting is feudal Japan and the cast consists of the great archetypes associated with that period.  A whole series followed, although the later entries might be more accurately considered updates rather than sequels.</p>

<p>In like, what, 2 weeks, I have finished something near 13 games. Granted (!), many of those games were fighters and the usual mix of them can take anywhere from 10 minutes to a couple hours at most to finish. Still, I would say I&#8217;m pretty impressed of all the progress I&#8217;ve done in trying to kill my backlog as of late. My perseverance to trim down the towering collection I once had is honestly more than just admirable at this point &#8212; it&#8217;s sickening.</p>
<p>You can own hundreds of games, but it might take you years to even unravel the shrinkwrap to a game you used to be curious to play and impatiently bought instead. But with time, your tastes can radically change. In my case, I&#8217;ve grown to mildly hate RPGs, lacking the patience or consecutive hours necessary to pour into these 45+ hour quests. It&#8217;s just not for me anymore. And with it, comes all the weeaboo/wapanese flavour I used to clamour so much for. Nowadays, I&#8217;m turning my back to dev houses like <em>NIS America</em> in a revolution more leaned on Western gaming (or at least anything not cookie-cutter and Japanese).</p>
<p>I still love tons of  japanese action and adventure games (titles like Bayonetta, for example) but if its going to be even 20 hours long, you can count me out.</p>
<p>Oh yeah, right! Just so you don&#8217;t think I&#8217;m a big liar or anything concerning my gametime, here&#8217;s the list of games I remember finishing off the top of my head:</p>
<p><em>Virtua Fighter 5: Online (360), Linger in Shadows (PSN), Samurai Shodown (PS2), Samurai Shodown II (PS2), Samurai Shodown III (PS2), Samurai Shodown IV (PS2), Samurai Shodown V (PS2), Samurai Shodown VI (Tenkaichi) (PS2), Saturday Night Slammasters (SNES) &#38; Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3).</em></p>
<p>For the moment, I&#8217;ve settled with <em>FFTA2: Grimoire of the Rift</em> between bus rides and subway strolls back and forth to work and seeing the garufurendo (wow, weeabooisms) and <em>Ninja Gaiden Sigma </em>2 the few <span style="text-decoration:line-through;">hours </span>minutes(!) I&#8217;m actually home.</p>
<p>And every now and then, I totally lose it and give in to Bayonetta and play that First Climax demo <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwrvvkXhtdQ" target="_blank">one. more. time.</a></p>

Esta é uma conversão de Samurai Spirits Sen, dos fliperamas japoneses (sortudos) no ano passado.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">O jogo chega 10 de dezembro exclusivamente no X360. O game ainda traz suporte online e 26 lutadores e, entre os novatos como Angelica. Todos eles possuem seus golpes fatais, que permitem o término de uma luta com o desmembramento de seu oponente. Os controles lembram Soulcalibur, com toda o mesmo esquema só que com golpes especiais bem estilosos</p>
<p>No fliperama, o game usa a Taito Type x2, uma poderosa placa com gráficos 3D modernos. Essa não é a primeira vez que a franquia &#8220;Samurai&#8221; ganha versão poligonal: o primeiro foi Samurai Shodown 64 para fliperamas e depois Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage (com o Haohmaru velho) para PS1. <p>SNK e Ignition están trabajando en este port exclusivo para Xbox 360 de la versión Arcade de Samurai Shodown: Edge of destiny.</p>
<p>Este juego se realizo para celebrar los 15 años de la franquicia Samurai Shodown que todos aquellos amantes de los arcades recordarán, el juego cuenta con 24 personajes a escoger y 11 de ellos son personajes ya conocidos por todos los conocedores de la serie, como Haohmaru, Charlotte, Hanzo, Nakoruru, etc. La diferencia con otros juegos de la serie es que este será en 3D muy al estilo de Samurai Shodown 64 que nunca salio en este lado del charco (gracias a dios).</p>
<p>Así que ya lo saben si son fans de los juegos de samurais y poseedores de un Xbox 360 en noviembre podrá disfrutar de este juego el cual como ya lo mencione es exclusivo, ahora solo falta que SNK aprenda de sus errores y mejore el codígo para jugar en línea por que si no va a ver otra chilladera en foros y páginas de internet como paso con KOF XII.</p>

<p>Tal vez los amigos mas jóvenes de este blog perrón  no lo conozcan, aunque lo dudo ya que este juego estaba a la par con juegos como King of Fighter, Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, etc en los años 90’s.</p>

<p><img class="alignleft size-full wp-image-12284" title="Samurai Shodown" src="http://hadouken.wordpress.com/files/2009/06/ps_program2008_03ph.jpg" alt="Samurai Shodown" width="153" height="124" />Há duas semanas o site do <a href="http://hadouken.wordpress.com/category/game-music/press-start-symphony-of-games/"><strong>Press Start</strong></a> se encontrava parado (as novidades no set list de <a href="http://hadouken.wordpress.com/category/game-music/press-start-symphony-of-games/2009-press-start-symphony-of-games-game-music/"><strong>2009</strong></a>, hoje com 12 segmentos confirmados, geralmente acontecem de sexta-feira), mas foi atualizado não com uma adição no repertório, e sim com uma amostra da mais inesperada música de <a href="http://hadouken.wordpress.com/category/game-music/press-start-symphony-of-games/2008-press-start-symphony-of-games-game-music/"><strong>2008</strong></a>: Samurai Shodown, a única aparição em concertos da Shinsekai Gakkyoku Zatsugidan, o falecido time de som da SNK.</p>
<p>Já conhecia o medley pelo bootleg da apresentação <a href="http://hadouken.wordpress.com/2008/11/11/press-start-2008-o-concerto-um-pouco-menos-restrito/"><strong>chinesa</strong></a>, só que não é a mesma coisa. Apesar de ambas terem a performance de Takemi Hirohara no shamisen, nem se compara a primazia da Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra no Japão com a atuação inexpressiva da Shanghai Opera Academy Orchestra na China. Para não falar, evidentemente, da diferença que é a gravação profissional.</p>
<p>O sample possui cerca de um minuto e cobre o trecho da <a href="http://www.goear.com/listen.php?v=d33ad4e"><strong>“Song of Men &#8211; Sun (Haohmaru)”</strong></a>, com a magnitude da orquestra na primeira parte, encerrando com a atmosfera oriental transmitida pelo solo de shamisen. Sei não, esses samples me dão a impressão de que um dia haverá algum CD oficial do concerto&#8230;</p>

<p><strong>Squaresoft</strong> (Final Fantasy, SaGa, Mana) and <strong>Enix</strong> (Dragon Quest, Soulblazer) merged to create <strong>Square Enix</strong>.<br />
-Square Enix acquired <strong>Taito</strong> (Space Invaders, Arkanoid, Bubble Bobble) but maintains it as a separate brand.</p>
<p><strong>Sammy</strong> (Guilty Gear, pachinko machines) acquired <strong>SEGA</strong> (Sonic, Phantasy Star, Yakuza) to form <strong>SEGA Sammy</strong> but SEGA is maintained as a separate brand.</p>
<p><strong>Konami</strong> (Castlevania, Metal Gear, Contra) acquired <strong>Hudson Soft</strong> (Bonk, Bomberman) but maintains it as a separate brand.</p>
<p><strong>Namco</strong> (Pac-Man, Tekken, Tales) merged with <strong>Bandai</strong> (Gundam, Digimon) to form <strong>Namco Bandai</strong>.</p>
<p><strong>Technos</strong> (Double Dragon, Super Dodge Ball, River City Ransom) folded and its assets were acquired by <strong>Atlus </strong>(Shin Megami Tensei).</p>
<p><strong>SNK</strong> (King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug) was acquired by a pachinko company and then later regained its independence as <strong>SNK Playmore</strong>.</p>
<p>Since I wrote that entry, there have been more recent developments . . .</p>
<p>Namco Bandai acquired the video game aspect of <strong>Banpresto</strong> (Super Robot Wars, Summon Knight).  Namco Bandai also acquired <strong>D3 Publisher</strong> (Puzzle Quest, licensed games).</p>
<p><strong>Tecmo</strong> (Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, Tecmo Bowl) merged with <strong>Koei</strong> (Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Dynasty Warriors) to form <strong>Tecmo Koei</strong>.</p>
<p>AND MOST INTERESTINGLY, Square Enix purchased a European publisher, <strong>Eidos</strong> (Tomb Raider, Hitman, Legacy of Kain), pending shareholder approval.</p>
