Etter en lang dag på jobb dro Anna og jeg i stallen for å trene til i morgen. Vi var ganske slitne begge to og hestene var også ganske daffe, så vi tok det rolig bort til flyplassen og red gjennom skogen fra Moen. Jobbet litt på banen, men det var for glatt for galopp på volte så det ble mest løsgjørende arbeid. Bestemte meg vel egentlig for at jeg måtte holde meg til travprogrammet i morgen. Så red vi hjem igjen, med èn galopp på veien, ellers skrittet vi. Så både rev og rådyr på turen.

Tilbake i stallen oppdaget jeg blod på den ene bakbootsen til Platon og det viste seg at han hadde fått skikkelig gnag i kodebøyen på høyre bakbein. Stakkars vennen! Antakelig har det vært den skarpe snøen som ha laget sår, men så har bootsen gnagd videre. Så etter en runde i tenkeboksen og i skokasse bestemte jeg meg for å sko.

Det var seint, så jeg skodde ham fremme, så tar jeg bakbeina i morgen. Med -10 grader og steinharde barfothøver var det omtrent umulig å få sømmene til å ikke bøye seg, men det gikk da til slutt.

Pakket ham inn i to dekken, da det var kaldt i natt og han var svett. Vil ihvertfall ikke ha kald-stiv hest i morgen.

Søte Aron kom inn i stallen og ville være med å ha selskap da Platon ble skodd.

Får teste underlaget med broddsko i morgen. Om det går greit med galopp på volte eller ikke… Så nå pugger jeg alle tre programmene, så får vi se hvilke jeg trenger.

First, let me appologize for not posting. Internet was inaccessible at the office and I was too pooped when I got home every night. Let’s see, what happened during the week? I worked with a little tiny furry baby who had no obedience whatsoever, worked obedience with two patrol K9s, decoyed, washed two dirty black labs who’se toy drive is through the roof and worked my little Mal girl. 

Yesterday we had a big search drill with the fire department and my girl got injured when she cleared a building. She’s fine, nothing life threatening. I took her to the vet, though, just to be certain. Her new nickname? Scarface.

The drill itself was awesome! Before the accident happened, my girl alerted on a 5 story building with smoke coming out the doors and windows. The victims were on the 3rd story and she alerted from the outside, standing on two legs, barking up, through the smoke. I was one proud momma!

Anyone has some advice on keeping a young working Malinois quite for a week or two?

Ibland undrar jag verkligen hur jag lyckas! Skulle, igår, testa om en kniv-slida satt fast innan jag la ner kniven i lådan. Förstås hade jag högra pekfingret på fel ställe så jag snittade upp det rätt rejält… Tur att morsan var här och var snabb med förbandslådan!

La ristrutturazione delle banche in Germania, in particolare delle Landesbanken, gli istituti di credito regionali, sara’ ‘dolorosa’ e quelli in difficolta’ non dovranno esitare a chiedere aiuto allo Stato tedesco.

Cosi’ il presidente della Bundesbank e membro del consiglio direttivo della Bce, Axel Weber, per il quale “la stabilizzazione del sistema non e’ che l’inizio della fine della crisi.

Le Landesbanken sono la parte debole del settore bancario in Germania che si fonda su tre pilastri: banche private, casse di risparmio e banche pubbliche regionali, ha proseguito Weber, per il quale “le banche e i loro azionisti devono riconoscere che i loro modelli di attivita’ e governance sono in parte responsabili della crisi finanziaria in Germania e devono pertanto fare un esame approfondito”.

Secondo Weber, infine, il sistema creditizio tedesco ha ancora di fronte importanti sfide: l’aumento dei crediti insoluti ed “elevati volumi di asset tossici” ancora nei loro bilanci.

C’è chi parla di quartetto: il presidente della Commissione, il nuovo presidente stabile del Con­siglio, il nuovo capo della politica estera, più la presidenza di turno (che non c’è più in politica estera, ma rimane in altre formazioni del Consiglio).

La presidenza stabile ha il vantag­gio di dare continuità ai lavori e di far sì che accordi presi tra i Paesi membri possano essere mante­nuti nel tempo, perché la persona che li ha garantiti è sempre la stes­sa e non cambia ogni sei mesi.

E­videntemente, però, questo tipo di presidenza funziona se chi la detiene interpreta il ruolo di me­diatore, di garante, e non di chi vuole parlare a nome dei Ventiset­te e stabilire delle linee politiche.

Inoltre è vero che il presidente avrà il compito di rappresentare l’Ue all’estero, ma il trattato non entra nei dettagli di dove finiscano i poteri del presi­dente e dove comincino quelli di altri attori.

Cuplikan Diklat Brigade Penolong 2009 Kwartir Daerah Jawa Timur

Most people associate the name SNK with the Neo Geo arcade hardware from the early nineties and the franchises it gave birth to like The King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown. SNK, however, was making arcade games as far back as the late seventies.

While most of these games are long forgotten to both the general audience as well as more obsessive game aficionados, it looks like SNK is finally attempting to capitalize on these early games.

While no official announcement has been made, “SNK Arcade Classics Volume 0″ has appeared on the official ESRB website.

I’ve always found it interesting that before the Neo Geo, only a few of SNK’s games gained any real notoriety (mainly Athena, Ikari Warriors, Vanguard, and Baseball Stars). These games remain forgotten even though many of cliches and design tricks of eighties gaming we now take for granted got their start in SNK’s classic library.

Hopefully this project becomes a reality so that more people can recognize SNK’s contributions to the industry. The ESRB’s description even mentions the inclusion of SAR: Search and Rescue.

This game’s presence on the compilation warrants an M rating from the ESRB due to its graphics violence, but SAR is notable for more than just that. The game, along with the likes of the Castlevania and Metroid series, is one of the earliest to have a very consistent and downbeat atmosphere. Even the ending pretty grim: Your characters’ reports of the game’s events, along with the alien infested ship you fight your way out of, are destroyed and covered up so that the government can continue convincing people to colonize this new planet.

This was the start of a trend for many of SNK’s war games, endings which, frankly, were not happy or rewarding at all. This had a kind of shock value for the game which major game publishers still attempt to achieve today. It’s considered an almost obligatory twist in war and action games today that someone within your own government has betrayed you, you can’t trust anyone, nothing is as it seems, but it was being done routinely by SNK twenty years ago.

The ending to the story went as this: I came back from dinner on Saturday night with a piece of cheesecake, some left-over pasta and a gallon of milk in my arms, and I just had to check the mail. There was a plain envelope laying in my mailbox. I found it rather strange that the address looks really like my handwriting. It is. I had to stand there and blink a few times before I realized what it meant.

This is like saying “Okay, here’s the beginning of a story and her’s the end. As for the rest, well, take a guess, fill in the blank.” Then there are infinite possibilities. It could went like a ultimate fantasy, or the gaps could be filled up by permissive stuff.

I chose the latter.

“Time heals all wounds.” My fortune cookie from tonight’s dinner says so. It is probably not a right place to put it, but strangely, I think it fits here, in some ways.

I had no other choice but to thank again, saying the words into emptiness.

Why the hell one should change their best positioning statement ? Every one loved the ” thanda ” campaign, there were rave reviews about Aamir and Coke. People looked forward to the next Aamir avatar ………

Then it was a surprise.. there is no thanda but some blabbering about drinking coke ” Sar Utha ke?

Coke never had good time with respect to its advertising in India. Never in their second life in India, they have delivered good campaigns. Pepsi always scored with their campaigns like” Ye dil maange more” Yehi hai right choice baby”, ” Nothing official about it”.

Then came the Thanda matlab “Coca- Cola” campaign which blew the hell out of Pepsi. Well how can anyone own some thing like ” Thanda”. Similar to XEROX, Coke was trying to own a whole category as such.

Then Coke changed the campaign , Why? I don’t have the answer may be the creatives in McCann may have it. The current campaign speaks nothing. I use a straw to drink Coke, so how can I drink coke sar Utha ke? Most of the time when I tried drinking directly from the bottle, I had encountered some unpleasant taste of “rust” from the cap of the bottle. What about the South Indians and othe non Hindi speaking consumers? Will they be impressed by the base line?

En memoria de Sar

Nunca supe su nombre real. Jamás le pregunte, tampoco importaba, él era el. No consigo recordar cuando le conocí, lo recuerdo desde que tengo memoria. El amaba el sonido de la lluvia. El siempre decía de si mismo que era un idiota ignorante, pero, para mí, el era un sabio. Hablaba de todo con todos. A el le conocía mucha gente, e ir con el por la calle implicaba tener que pararse cada tres pasos a saludar a alguien, y el no era de esos que se conforman con un “hola, ¿qué tal?”. Sus ojos brillaban, emitían un destello que revelaba a los que le miraban su gran astucia e inteligencia. El decía que nunca llegaría a comprenderlo todo, pero yo creía que ya lo sabía todo. El se hacía llamar, o, mejor dicho, lo llamábamos “Sar”, aunque nunca supe el porqué, ni tampoco le oí llamarse a si mismo nunca.

Sar no era uno más. Sar era distinto. El odiaba las modas. El sentía un odio profundo por la ignorancia.

Sar nunca mintió. El era la mejor persona que uno se puede imaginar. La única vez que le vi asqueado de si mismo llevaba las manos tintas de sangre; se había peleado con unos chavales tres años mayor que el y salió sin un rasguño físico, pero el decía que su alma estaba sucia. La verdad es que no le quedo más remedio que defenderse. Él intento hacer razonar al otro chaval, que se estaba metiendo junto con tres amigos con un chaval que no tendría ni trece años, y Sar odiaba que abusaran de alguien. No conocíamos de nada a ninguno de los que estaban allí, aunque más tarde se convertiría en mi mejor amigo,  pero Sar defendió al chaval de trece años como si lo conociese de toda la vida. Lo primero que hizo fue intentar que le dejaran en paz mediante la simple palabra, pero con los que no quieren oír y cierran sus oídos es imposible dialogar. Y Sar paso de ser el defensor a convertirse en el objetivo de aquellos ignorantes como los llamaría el más tarde). Sar era delgado, muy delgado, tanto que parecía estar en los huesos, pero como él decía, la fuerza está en la cabeza, no en los músculos. Yo de aquella era un crio que apenas levantaba tres palmos del suelo y tenia catorce años, el otro chaval con el que íbamos Sar y yo era también un crio, y Sar, que aunque a mí me parecía gigante, media metro sesenta y poco. Pero en cuanto se vio rodeado por cuatro cabestros ignorantes se afirmo en el suelo guardando un equilibrio mental y físico digno del mejor maestro de las artes marciales. Los cuatro chavales no sabían a quien estaban a punto de intentar pegar. El primer puñetazo lo dio el que se coloco en la espalda de Sar. Sar lo desgüevo con una coz antes de que le rozara el puño, ese no se volvió a levantar, del dolor que tenia encima no arrancaba ni siquiera a llorar. Los otros tres vacilaron al ver que Sar había vuelto a la postura en la que estaba antes de pegar la patada y ni siquiera se volvió a mirar al que estaba en el suelo, su mirada seguía perdida en algún punto del infinito que solo el sabia. Los ignorantes se miraron los unos a los otros y atacaron al unisonó. Sar espero hasta la última decima de segundo para moverse, retrocediendo un  paso y lanzándose sobre el que tenia a la izquierda, dándole con el puño derecho en la oreja  izquierda, dejándole en el suelo. Yo y los otros dos estábamos boquiabiertos y paralizados viendo a Sar moverse con tanta velocidad, que después de golpear a ese en la oreja se volvió y dio un codazo en los morros a uno se agacho mientras se giraba y le dio un puñetazo en el lateral de la rodilla al que quedaba en pie.

Me acuerdo de ese día como si fuera ayer. Nunca había visto a Sar llorar, y eso que no le habían rozado. El no sintió vergüenza por llorar delante de nosotros, aunque decía que la vergüenza es la mejor virtud. El siempre hablaba con sinceridad, y, cuando reunimos el valor y el coraje para preguntarle el porqué de sus lagrimas (yo era la primera vez que veía a un amigo llorar y no sabia ni que hacer, ni que decir, ni cómo comportarme), nos dijo que les había hecho daño, que él no tenía ningún derecho a golpear a nadie, que ahora su alma estaba sucia. Cuando le dijimos que lo había hecho para ayudar a otro el nos contesto que la violencia no era la solución. Yo no entendí en ese momento que era lo que quería decir, la verdad es que tarde bastante en comprender.

Me acuerdo de su voz. No sé porque, pero cuando estoy alegre la recuerdo como si me estuviera hablando en ese momento. Su voz era algo especial. Su tono, la forma en que hablaba, bueno, no se describir exactamente qué es lo que me transmitía, me tranquilizaba y me hacía ver muchas cosas que por mi mismo no hubiese sido capaz de ver.

Me acuerdo el día en que me dijeron que había muerto (dos mese antes dijo que él no se sometería a la quimio, y colgándose la mochila al hombro fue a cumplir sus últimos sueños). Ese día jamás se me olvidara. Ese día no dormí, llore. Llore toda la noche y todo el día. No podía comprender como podía pasar eso a una persona tan buena como Sar. El era la mejor persona que conoceré jamás, y se fue cuando tenía toda la vida por delante. No lo entendía. Si era verdad que había un dios como permitía que le pasara a Sar eso. Desde aquel día soy ateo. Sar no se identificaba con ninguna religión, el había leído la Biblia, el Corán, la Tora, y otros tantos ejemplares de libros sagrados, que tenía en sus respectivas lenguas originales y traducidos. Los tenia todos ellos llenitos de marcadores. Leía y releía esos libros buscando lo que jamás encontró. El que buscaba nunca me lo conto, pero me dio bastantes pistas y ahora me hago una idea de lo que buscaba: respuestas. El siempre estaba haciéndose preguntas. El siempre hablaba de cosas que, al principio, ninguno entendía, pero luego el nos explicaba con términos muy sencillos, y, al final, todos empezábamos a entender. El decía que quería empezar un viaje muy complicado: Nosce Te Ipsum, más tarde me enteraría por casualidad del significado de estas palabras en latín: conocerse a sí mismo.

Men men det tar vi när jag har lite mer tid att skriva och tänka lite. Idag stod Issa och diskade och helt plötsligt knäcktes tallriken mitt itu, och blodet började forsa isabelle ville  inte titta men jag var framme med huvudet snabbare än kvickt och konstaterade snabbt att det där ska sys. Jag tog papper och täckte såret sen lindade vi det hårt med en köks handuk sen väntade vi… läs resten på Issas blog, jag måste sova ska vara pigg och produktiv imorgon.

 ”How much radiation does your cell phone emit? It’s easy to find out the answer thanks to the Environmental Working Group’s new online guide to cell phone emissions. The non-profit research and advocacy group ranked over 1,000 different cell phones according to radiation levels. It looked at the publicly available, but difficult to find, specific absorption rate (SAR) for each phone. SAR is a measure of how much radiation is absorbed by the body when the phone is sending a signal to the network. (Your phone only emits radiation when you talk or text.) The jury is still out on whether cell phone radiation is harmful to human health, but it certainly won’t hurt to limit your exposure to cell phone radiation when you can. Several research teams from different countries report a higher risk of developing brain and salivary gland cancer among high-volume, long-term cell phone users compared to people who use cell phones less often, according to EWG. For example, a 2009 scientific analysis of studies done in Sweden and several other European countries found a consistent pattern of an increased cancer risk after more than 10 years of mobile phone use. “The data is still conflicting and the science isn’t settled,” says Jane Houlihan, research director at EWG. “But there is enough evidence now that it makes sense for people to take personal action while the teams of scientists and health agencies sort through the data.” Houlihan also points out that health agencies in six different countries are warning people to cut their exposure to cell phone radiation, particularly when it comes to children. Taking personal action can be as simple as adding radiation emissions to the list of criteria you use when purchasing a new cell phone, especially when it’s for your child. How much of a difference can choosing a low-radiation phone make? High-radiation cell phones on EWG’s list emit eight times more radiation than those on the low end of the spectrum.

Var ute en sväng i skogen på Gullan igår och jag säger bara “tack gode gud för pannlampan”.

Testade att rida utan den men fick vända direkt, det var som att blunda och rida. Så efter att lampan placerats på hjälmen bar det iväg ut i mörka skogen. Värmde upp henne i skritt och trav sedan galopperade vi i (hyfsta) lugnt tempo 2,2 km. Kan säga att det är spänning på hög nivå att galoppera i pannlampesken på piggt fullblodssto. Men vi överlevde och hon skrittade mycket nöjd hemåt.

Enda smolet i bägaren var att jag vid hemkomst såg att hon fått ett litet skav av benskydden på höger fram. Skitskydd!

Nu blir det till att köpa ett par nya, vet vad jag vill ha, hoppas bara att dom finns i “rätt” färg också.

The names of months often take on other meanings, for me at least. For instance, July means summer. August, summer’s end. September, gloom and rain. October, sleepless nights.

My life at this point can be described as hectic. Running on the average of 3 or 4 hours sleep, I lost the track of time. There was no way to tell the date, or even to differentiate night from day. I can not help but to procrastinate, and finishing up right before the due time of each and every of my task. As for the ones without a deadline? Yes, they have been pushed back. They have been pushed back into who knows which dark corner in my head. They are not forgotten, though.

I always remembered the promise I made to myself. I strained myself but I kept it. There is more to be said and there is none. So let me just put it this way:

July means summer. August, summer’s end. September, gloom and rain. October, past perfect.

I haven’t posted in a very long time. If this is on your friends page or your blog reader you may not remember why you ever added me, so let me do a quick refressh. Citizen Police Academy, Hero’s Journey, GMC and the Great Deb Dixon, and Murder in the Grove Master Class Weekend.

Since I posted last I came to terms with having to return to work full time to make the ends meet. I’ve changed board positions a bit on the local non-profit groups and finished the 2nd draft of SAR and sent it to my beta reader who promptly sent it back with helpful, though painful, tips on how to make it better.

I entered both the Emerald City Opener and the Golden Opportunity and have a full of RNR at Loose Id I’m waiting a reply from (they rejected it very politely and I’m revising before I send it out again). I joined the RRW (Rainbow Romance Writers) and put together a new playlist for the WIP. Twittering, conferences, and my mother–in–law is living with us.
