When you put on the Armor you say it firmly, out loud and with much authority.  

These are not games – these are high satanic powers sent out to destroy you. Your strength is in your authority. 

The first thing you put on is the Helmet of Salvation.  Here is where the battle begins – in your mind.  You will say firmly, with authority and out loud “Today I come against fear, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, rejection, insecurity, perverted thoughts, worry and __________  (list those things you struggle with). “I command my emotions to be steady and stable all day long. They will be the same today, as tomorrow, as the next day.”

Then you must fill your mind with power and the Word of God.  You will say “I now take on the mind of Christ.  I take on confidence, health, power, hope, vision, purpose and direction for my life. I take on the fruit of the Holy Spirit – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control. Satan, every plan that you have set out against me and my family has been broken at the Cross in Jesus name, you have no authority here.  I cover my mind, my family, my cars, my finances and all that we have under the blood of the Lamb.” Again, at this point you must take authority over the things which are personally attacking you, i.e. sickness, lust, financial problems, etc. .  

Next, you put on the Breast Plate of Righteousness.  As a believer you have no righteousness of your own, it is all the righteousness of Christ. This gives you confidence to come boldly before God. When Satan attacks our minds and accuses us of our past mistakes we stand behind the breastplate of righteousness.  We can have confidence to know that  Christ is perfect righteousness and this is what protects our hearts from condemnation. This is what protects our hearts from rejection and hurt. When people do hurt and reject us we are now protected. Those feelings just bounce off our breastplate – they no longer sink into our hearts.  His righteousness becomes ours. “Today I put on my breastplate of righteousness. My righteousness is in Christ therefore I have confidence to walk in power, strength and integrity.”

Next we put on the Belt of Truth. This means you have chosen to live in the truth of God’s word. You are now securely buckled into God’s truth. You need not live under confusion. God’s Word is truth and directs us in God’s will. This brings stability, decisiveness and certainty in life. 

Then you are to put on the Shoes of the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace. This tells the world that you are not ashamed of the Lord but are ready and willing to share Christ with others as He leads you.  Satan hates when we share Christ with others.  He will do everything in his power to stop you. Therefore you begin your day knowing that your “spiritual shoes” are leading you in authority to proclaim the gospel to others.

Next  you take The Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.  The Word of God is Power against Satan.  When you have prepared your mind for battle you have taken God’s Word and can use various verses to come against the attacks you are facing. God’s Word must be memorized to be ready and available for use at each moment. The Sword is your only OFFENSIVE weapon. You should be ready to speak the Word all day long at every instance. You will say “I take the Sword which is the Word of God and I cut between darkness and light, I choose to walk in light. I choose to be led of God’s Spirit.”

Finally we are told to take the Shield of Faith. With faith in Christ we protect ourselves from the flaming arrows sent from hell, i.e. fear, worry, depression, financial problems, etc. You grow in faith as you grow in God’s Word and memorize it. You will say “I take my shield of faith. I believe God’s Word and God’s promises.  I believe that God has good things in store for me today.”  As you take on the Armor of God daily you will find new victory, new peace and new power.
