In today’s day and age of overpopulation, scarcity of resources and environmental stress the dire need of the hour is a firm decision to save energy and resources.

Here a few ways to save energy and you are urged to heed them as a stitch in time saves nine.

Transport is the highest energy consumer as per the surveys conducted all over the world.

Therefore we need to have efficient transportation facilities.

SUVs are gasoline guzzlers for a poor mileage we should wisely shift our preferences to the hybrid cars and bikes to save energy.

The hybrid cars make complete economic and financial sense as they save gasoline and can also run on hydrogen and battery stored electricity.

One can save $12000 per year and cut down their carbon footprint on the environment by not producing 109 tons or carbon dioxide.

Save energy by choosing the efficient Energy-star range of appliances these are smarter and cut down emissions of carbon dioxide and CFC by 1200 pounds, with an added advantage of a reduced electricity bill almost by $80 to 100.

Also be logical about placing your appliances.

For example do not put your fridge next to the dishwasher, as the heat and moisture from the dish washer will make your fridge work harder.

Use a front load washing machine instead of a top-load one, this will not only save energy and reduce the electricity consumption by 50% but electricity, detergent and water.

Wash your not-so-soiled clothes in cold water and save 45% of your electricity bill and prevent a carbon footprint of 560 pounds in the atmosphere.

Save another 30% of electricity by drying your clothes outside in the sun on a clothes line the old-fashioned way, this will not only save energy.

There are other benefits of this exercise, it lengthens the life of your clothes, brings the fresh crisp sunshine smell into your home and last but not the least, sunlight’s ultraviolet radiations are germicide in nature.

Run your washing machine and dryer only when full, this provides efficient and consumes less electricity.

The dish washer should be used the same way and air-dry the dishes, instead of running the heat generating dry cycle, this part of the cycle consumes maximum energy.

Save energy by maintaining the refrigerators between 37 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit (F) and freezer between 0-5 degrees F, if the fridge gets 10 degrees colder the energy consumption increases by 25%.

Make sure that the doors of the fridge are sealed well with proper gasket seals which seal the chill in and the cold out.

Choose a fridge model which has the freezer on top instead of side by side this would save you 20% more energy.

Use an attic whole house fan instead of an air conditioner because of your house is well-insulated you will not have much use of the air-conditioner.

Ceiling fans use lesser electricity compare to air conditioners and if there are vents at the bottom and top of the walls the lower vents will pull in the cooler heavier air and the upper vents will force the lighter warmer air out of the room.

It is said when there is a will there is a way, you only have to set your mind to save energy and there will be a million options in sight.

A “Growing” Problem

Recently, I have been moved to action with this thought…  How does our generation save the world?  How does our generation learn from the past, embrace the present and live for the future?

There has been plenty of debate between thousands of scientist, geologist, theologist, politicians, community leaders, young and old, male and female. 

What is happening to our planet?

Is the world heating up?  Are we losing our faith?  Are the values of today’s youth lost?  Are we going to run out of oil or even scarier…. water?  Are we headed toward ultimate doom?  Is the world going to end on December 21, 2012. Why is it that every single one of us has this nagging feeling that something is wrong? 

I intend on using this blog as a forum to discuss these issues.  To touch on my thoughts, hopes and feelings.  Everything I write is my opinion based on research and facts of course, but ultimately, my opinion.  I am objective, open for debate, and never close my mind to the possibility that I don’t quite see the entire picture.

Now I must say in the past several years I have noticed a call to arms.  I have noticed a growing awareness of our impact and a sincere belief from the optimistic that we as individuals can make a difference.  For those of you skeptics, yes, you individually can not “Save the World”.

However, a movement begins with a thought.  A movement begins with the dreams of one person or a collective group of people.  The civil rights movement is a great example of a movement that changed the world.  It began with countless men and women who were treated unfairly in the land of the free.  This movement was championed by Martin Luther King and his contemporaries.  Though we are not completely there, one can not deny that things have come a long way in the last 40 years. This is a movement that is not stopping, has not wavered and has changed the face of our planet.

So back to the topic.  The “green movement” is growing.  This movement, much like the civil rights movement was born out of the mistakes of man.  For centuries, man has lived on this planet with the thought that resources are unlimited.  We can continue to exhaust and use our environment and it will recover, it will survive and continue to be fruitful. 

Whether it is a growing awareness or the writing on the wall,  this generation, our generation, your generation realizes, that is a fallacy. The belief that man was placed on the earth to conquer it, must not and can not persist.

So how can we spark this movement?  What should we address?  Should we all wake up tomorrow, recycle, drive less, buy Hybrids, drink tap water, use less paper, cut the six-pack plastic rings that our soda cans come with, walk to lunch, build greener, put green logos on our TV stations, watch Al Gore’s “The Inconvenient Truth”, reduce our carbon footprint?  Pardon the sarcasm!  All of those things are worth doing.  But are those things going to cause a movement, spur a revolution, save the world? 

In America, we are victims of our age.  We are living in The Oil Age.  And just like America the rest of the developed world is right there with us.  When we think Green, we are thinking of the immediate impact.  Our culture is centered around cheap, readily available fuel.  The immediate impact is as follows. 

For the last 200 hundred years we have been using and living comfortably off of the readily available fuel.  However, as the world continues to advance and become “civilized” there is a growing demand for these fuels.  China and the United States, like two fat bellied pigs are scarfing down the worlds natural resources.  Now the effect of this is world shortages, higher gas prices, increased pollution, increased demand, growing anxiety, and an imminent crisis. 

Now don’t get me wrong, this is not due to an inherent issue of the depravity of man.  Is not because the United States and China are greedy.  This is due to an increasing need to satisfy the style of life we have become accustomed too.

Thus, with that mindset.  The “green movement” aims to provide more sustainable energy, lower greenhouse emissions, advises to carpool, walk, ride the bus, ride a bike, drive cars instead of fuel sucking SUVs. 

Now when doctors diagnose an illness, they approach it much the same way. What are the symptoms, what is your family history, what have you eaten, been exposed to, is their similar case studies, etc.  After diagnosis of “the problem”, they prescribe a treatment plan.

Now we are getting somewhere.  So what is the problem?  Is the problem that we are to oil dependent? Is the problem that we can not encourage enough participation?  Or do we have a “growing” problem?

So….even if 1 out of 3 people lived “green”, at the rate our population is increasing by 2050 we would have 3 billion conscious consumers and 6 billion (the world’s current population) users. 

People we are back at square one.  Do you think the undeveloped countries are practicing green initiatives?  So if we are doctors, what is the real “problem” and how do we treat it?

On that note I will leave it up for discussion and my next post will continue to address the “growing” problem.

The problems that we face today are multifaceted relative to the ones our ancestors faced millenia ago.

Millenia ago, the only real problem on Earth was that humanity was in trouble (as usual). Even Now, humanity is in trouble. Trouble so deep, in fact, that certain humans have managed areas of the Greatest Being Of All, The Earth, into their problems. Its truly despicable and a clear signal to me that these problems must be exposed and solved on an individual and collective level. Those “rich” scoundrels (they’re far worse in fact and I hope this is revealed to all very soon) may not care for their host but we’re not all like them are we? Do we dare rest in our palaces while ecosystems, societies, innocent children, women, and men are threatened and endangered? Do we dare screw around with yachts, planes, and prostitutes while people in our political realm face problems that no one will provide a solution for?

No. I know you’re not that type of person. Or else you wouldn’t be reading this.

Here are the problems that we are facing today that have led to the temperature of the Earth rising by 1 degree Celsius relative to pre-industrialization times (hint, hint).

1. Deforestation.

The single biggest problem The Earth has ever witnessed. And only people are capable to doing this to insane levels. Elephants take down weak forests so that they arise stronger than ever but people have the nerve to stick a chainsaw to a tree older than their great grandmother would have been now but as youthful as ever. Well I won’t stand for deforestation (which is basically the killing of innocent trees and therefore at genocidals levels right now. Reference: map) and neither should you.

Trees are vital to every single living being perceivable and beyond. Every sentient person from an insect to a whale requires trees for survival and thrival. Yet rich people have the nerve to sanction projects that require lots of “wood.” Its not wood though. Its the mark of an innocent being’s unrightful killing. And “governments” go along with this. They say, okay, yeah sure we can give you some wood. !@#$ards. Anyway, all beings whether they are birds, insects, humans, elephants, dogs, horses, marine beings require Trees for protection from the Sun and most important of all, Oxygen. Solution: No tree must ever be cut down again. Ever.

2. Marine Mistreatment & Water Body Bashing

Were you aware that a ridiculous amount of toxic chemicals that should never ever have come close to any water body has been dumped into the water bodies of too many countries? This includes the oceans, the ponds, the lakes, the rivers, the streams, the living organisms that are the gift of the Earth to Her children that they may drink, bathe, swim & play in, and also travel through. Can you go upto any river and drink from it? Or even jump into it without any concern? If you can, you’re lucky and I recommend you do that right now. If not though, then let me inform you that that is how it is supposed to be. Chemicals, industrial waste, agricultural effluents, sewage and other nasty shit must never be put into the water. Then where should it be put? Up the capitalists’ and government’s asses. Why are such toxic compounds even sought after? Just because they are cheap? Well, these toxic practices must never be allowed to begin with for everyone’s sake especially the Water Bodies and the Beings in them. Solution: No water body must ever be abused by dumping any sort of rubbish into it. Ever.

3. Mineral Theft

Did you know that one of the leading causes of global warming that is overlooked repeatedly is the excessive and indiscriminate pulling of metals and gems from the Earth? Have you ever held stainless steel? How did it feel? Cool to the touch? Have you ever placed an emerald to your eyes? Did that cool them off? So imagine how cool they must keep the Earth. Imagine how the Earth must warm up with no high thermal conductivity solids to keep it nice and comfortable. Solution: All stolen (that’s right its all stolen from the Earth) precious and unprecious metals, minerals, gems etc must be returned to the Earth.

4. Industrialization Itself

Have you seen a factory? You must have noticed that almost all of them are blowing “smoke” into the air. That smoke is so full of heavy compounds (greenhouse gases) that if not not allowed to break down at the top of the Earth’s Atmosphere, they build up and block the infra red rays (heat waves) from being sent out of the Earth. If industrial activity were to be reduced and even stopped completely the level of carbon dioxide in the air would drop from ~380 parts per million (ppm) to the comfortable 350 ppm or lower. That would allow The Earth to cool Herself off and come to the same temperature as before industrialization. In addition, factories and industries, being run inefficiently in most cases emit infra red rays of their own that are a guaranteed outcome of entropy (inefficiency; disorder). The economy must be allowed to contract and people allowed to grow their own food. Industries must be inspected by systems engineers (mandatorily) and be brought to an efficient state of production or be shut down and redesigned or just plain shut down. Solar panel, windmills and other renewable sources of energy must be added as supplemental power sources instead of just fossil fuels like coal, refined oil, and gas (is that a fossil fuel?).

5. Grave yards

Grave yards? What do they have to do with global warming and the problems facing the earth? Well, every human body is a storehouse of minerals that regulate body temperature in conjunction with air and water. When dead bodies get locked up in coffins instead of being allowed to freely merge with the Earth following aberrant apoptosis (death), those minerals that actually belong to The Earth don’t go back into The Earth. If they did soils would be as rich as before and the Earth would cool down by that much (which is a lot of much if you factor in the millions of people dying every second I guess. I think dead people should be allowed to unite with the Earth at least after they die. When they were alive, they were put in boxes. “Go to school” “Go to sleep” “Get a job” “Go to work” “Watch TV” “Live in a big box (house, apartment etc)” “Drive in a box (car)”. Shouldn’t they be allowed to be box free once they are dead? Don’t they deserve at least that much? I think that’s the least we can do for them and that that is what must be done instead of stuffing them in a coffin and burying that.

6. Asticocrazy, Monocrazy, Democrazy, And Other Dysfunctional Means Of Population Control (Euphemistically referred to as “Governance”)

Not all these are crazy but many are and they are not working well. Yet no one admits to and things lag on crazier than ever. Why? Why are monarchs, government figureheads and other world leaders answerable to no one? How can they allow crimes against humanity and the Earth to continue? Why don’t they for once do the right thing?

8. Secret and subtle forms of dominance and subversion.

Certain religions, and secret societies are powerful and influential enough to end all crises right now. But they don’t do that. Instead they sit back and watch as things go astray, protecting only themselves (and those they rely on) and only doing what is necessary for the survival of their instituitions. All they do is lie and deceive and provide false hope heaped on a base of lies.

So this year’s Christmas season might not see us waxing sentimental over White Christmases and Chestnuts Roasting on a Open Fire. Instead, we will be worrying about Frosty the Snowman melting and about the death of the cute polar bears in those vintage Coca-cola ads, and we will wonder how Santa and his elves are doing up there in the North Pole.

The Earth Hour website shows comprehensive and comprehensible information on climate change and the Copenhagen summit. It also offers some easy-to-do options for action, as well as a kids’ section that helps kids become more informed young members of society.

According to 350.org, “Scientists say that 350 parts per million CO2 in the atmosphere is the safe limit for humanity.” The website discusses this  more and shows people and organizations from different parts of the world who have come together on October 24, the International Day of Climate Action. More good news from the site: “On 24 October, people in 181 countries came together for the most widespread day of environmental action in the planet’s history. At over 5200 events around the world, people gathered to call for action on the climate crisis. Over 22,000 photos have been submitted so far!” Check it out!

Capitalismo y materialismo enfrentados a comunismo y solidaridad. Propiedad individual o colectiva. Como si aún el debate se centrara en las formas o en entes supremos de gran complejidad.

Los detalles, la honestidad y las buenas voluntades siempre harán de este un mundo mejor, independientemente de quienes y cómo lo rijan. La hipocresía y el crédito infinito de los sinvergüenzas sólo puede ser juzgado en base al ejemplo y al buen hacer de los que con honorabilidad interpretan los designios de la ética basada en la humildad de su propio trabajo, los que con esfuerzo y amor en cada acción son capaces de transmitir una lírica de armonía que alegre, con al menos una sonrisa, el valle nublado y atormentado de quienes convierten su vida en un relámpago en busca de materialidades que sólo muestran el mayor de los vacíos y escuálidos espíritus que por esta tierra vagan.

I am still doing a post-viewing rehash in my head, trying to remember when or even if in recent years I’ve watched a better film than 2012.

District 9 comes to mind, at least as good but a bit hard to call it better.

Great script, a complete story well told in the traditional mode, with a beginning, a middle, and then (surprise!) an end. Quite unlike so much of the crap around these days.

Great director, Roland Emmerich extracted fine performances all around and managed to have a cohesive plot covered (see above) to keep it all on screen. I am sure that if this wasn’t a Sony release, this time the computer (updated from the beautiful black 5300 Powerbook Jeff Goldblum used to save the world in Independence Day) would have been a nice but slightly used Aluminum G4 Powerbook, not a steaming pile of VAIO. Ah, I digress…..

Great acting, John Cusack has to be considered to be a serious contender to jump past Tom Hanks to become the “everyman” of our time frame, as Henry Fonda personified so well in his.

And by the way, as you may have heard, there are at least a few interesting special effects shots on the screen in this film, and they have been done fairly well.

This could possibly be why it’s my new “How the fuck did they do that” said aloud count leader.

Me hablan de palabras, de ese libro que tanto añoré no haber escrito, de un mensaje tan difuso como las garras del primer sol de la mañana.

Omito cualquier sesgo de inteligencia, remito ecos de una desolada hipocresía. Me siento ante el teclado impoluto que nunca supo de principios y valores, censuré la cobardía de una crítica absurda, no por repetitiva ni monocorde sino por su valía y utilidad inmediata.

Pero aquí sigo, dispuesto a escribir la más inerte de las entradas, sonriente asisto a la inopia de un regalo que insulta a la indigente sensatez. Quizás algún día me atreva a despertar, descender de la nebulosa de la no-concreción y volver a la sana escritura de quien tiene algo que contar, del que desea ser leído.

Antes, mucho antes, el camino ha de ser trazado para hallar en su senda los elementos que animen a la liberación de las cadenas que cada cual arrastra, síntomas de mentes absortas en prejuicios,  diamantes en bruto que poco conocen de espíritu y valor, que ausentes en el relativismo que les envuelve, no son capaces de adoctrinarse en la vereda del conocimiento, intelectual y emotivo, que de riendas sueltas a la capacidad de cada cual para ser aquello para lo que están predeterminados, pudiendo cada cual aportar lo mejor de sí mismos, para sí y para con los demás…

La persona en sí no es más que un conjunto de etapas cambiantes, cada cual caracterizada por unas ideas y unos hábitos. Al final de cada cual se supone un cambio o transformación hacia un estadio mejor, fruto éste de su experiencia y bagaje vital.

Hay quienes argumentan que en cierta manera la crisis actual pudiera ser catalogada como “crimen contra la humanidad”, quienes sostienen que lejos de ser uno de esos “baches capitalistas” es tan sólo un artificio y, los que como yo, creen que eso poca importancia tiene.

Que lo realmente importante es la hipocresía con la que se despachan los asuntos que a todos nos atiene, la insensibilidad con la que nuestros congéneres se agarran al aprecio de lo material, la ajena solidaridad que nos permite sentarnos en un cómodo y abusivo consumo, cuando no tan lejos muchos pasan necesidades, cuando otros pueblos viven en la miseria o cuando millones de personas poco tienen que llevarse a la boca u otros tantos mueren de enfermedades sumamente absurdas, por lo fácilmente evitables con medicamentos.

Pero aún así nos dejamos llevar por principios de mercado, una dictadura de lo políticamente correcto donde todo aquello crítico es mirado de reojo y bautizado con términos pocos coherentes. Una manera colectiva de actuar basada en ideas preconcebidas, miserias y miedos enlatados al por mayor, certidumbres que pasan desapercibidas en medio de una vorágine de cambio que nos hará irreconocibles como sociedad en unos años vista.

Pero aquí sigo vertiendo mi ignorancia y mis ideas faltas de raíces intelectuales, sin argumentos y sin ambición alguna.

Dimana-mana Hutan ditebang, dimana-mana Hutan dibakar, tapi disana mereka menyuarakn aksi mereka untuk Tujuan BErsama, tujuan manusia sebenanrnya, menjadi Khalifah di Bumi. Di Copenhagen, akan terhelat acara akbar CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT, setelah terakhir di Kyoto Jepang yang menghasilkan DEKLARASI KYOTO.  Pada perhelatan akbar ini, GREENPEACE adalah bagian yang sangat mendukung untuk terhelatnya acara akbar ini, dimana pemimpin dunia merundingkan sesuatu untuk nasib rakyat BUMI. Salah satu point yang diamanahkan oleh Greenpeace adalah Penurunan Emisi Gas Rumah Kaca PAda negara Maju 2012, dan Penghilangan senjata musnah nuklir di seluruh Dunia, serta Meminta Dana Untuk Pengembalian Hutan Gundul di seluuh dunia khusunya Indonesia, yang menjadi Paru-PAru Dunia

Kawan-kawan coba renungkan kembali nyanyia Ebiet G. Ade, “Anugerah dan Bencana adalah anugerahnya…”, tetapi terpaan Bencana itu adalah tak lain dan tak bukan adalah usaha manusia itu sendiri.

Yap, Ingatlah Kawan, dahulu kalian menyanyikan “naik naik kepuncak gunug tinggi tinggi sekali”. Mungkin banyak dari sebagian anak kecil jaman sekarang tidak memiliki pengetahuan akan hal tersebut. Kawan-kawan tahukah kalo negeri ini sangat kayaaaa sekali, tahukah kawan-kawan? kalau Lautan kita Luaaaas Sekali, Tahukah AKwan-kawan? Jikalau Pulau, Palung, Gunung adalah anugerah Tuhan Yang Maha Esa untuk bumi pertiwiw.

Sekarang Tahukah Kawan-kawan?? Klo disa Copenhagen, pada tanggal Senin, 7 Desember 2009, ada kawan-kawan kita yang mencoba sedang memabntu kita, untuk Hutan kita Kawan-kawan. Dimana-mana Hutan ditebang, dimana-mana Hutan dibakar, tapi disana mereka menyuarakn aksi mereka untuk Tujuan BErsama, tujuan manusia sebenanrnya, menjadi Khalifah di Bumi. Di Copenhagen, akan terhelat acara akbar CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT, setelah terakhir di Kyoto Jepang yang menghasilkan DEKLARASI KYOTO.  Pada perhelatan akbar ini, GREENPEACE adalah bagian yang sangat mendukung untuk terhelatnya acara akbar ini, dimana pemimpin dunia merundingkan sesuatu untuk nasib rakyat BUMI. Salah satu point yang diamanahkan oleh Greenpeace adalah Penurunan Emisi Gas Rumah Kaca PAda negara Maju 2012, dan Penghilangan senjata musnah nuklir di seluruh Dunia, serta Meminta Dana Untuk Pengembalian Hutan Gundul di seluuh dunia khusunya Indonesia, yang menjadi Paru-PAru Dunia

Kawan-kawan coba renungkan kembali nyanyia Ebiet G. Ade, “Anugerah dan Bencana adalah anugerahnya…”, tetapi terpaan Bencana itu adalah tak lain dan tak bukan adalah usaha manusia itu sendiri.

Ini adalah post ssaya diakarenakan kita hidup selain dengan manusia tapi kita juga hidup bersama Alam semesta yakni Lingkungan kita baik itu benda mati maupun benda hidup, entah itu meracuni atau menyehatkan, entah itu membuat kotor, atau malah untuk belajar (hhahaha, kayak iklan aja gw nulisnya)

Lingkungan Hidup disini saya artikan adalah kata gandeng yang tidak dapat dipisah, karena satu sama lain sangat membutuhkan sehingga terciptalah satu kta yakni Lingkungan Hidup. Saya mengartikannya disini adalah suatu kompleksitas bumi kepada kehidupan manusia dalam pemenuhan kebutuhannya. (ancur banget sih kata-kata gw he,, he,, he). Nah, banyak jenis jenis yang termasuk dalri lingkungan hidup karena kompleks yang ada didalamnya. Misalnya lingkungan hidup yang hidup di air tawar, air laut, hutan, pantai, tanah, dsb. Lingkungan hidup adalah suatu heterogenitas untuk manusia itu sendiri alam pemenuhan kebutuhannya dan pelestariannya kepada anak cucunya nanti.

Sekarang udara terasa elbih panas mungkin salah satunya difaktorkan oleh keadaan lingkungan hidup yang tidak sehat alias tidak dilestarikan kembali oleh manusia itu sendiri 8 kali Lapangan Sepak Bola Luas Hutan tiap jamnya digaruk oleh cukong cukong bertuan. Pulau Kita ada 5 yang besar tapi ada 10.000 Lebih Pulaukita tersebar dari berbagai perbatasan dengan negara lain.

Maka dari itu saya mulai sekarang menyuarakan

2. PENDANAAN NEGARA MAJU UNTUK HUTAN KALIMANTAN DAN SUMATERA SEBAGAIMANA PARU-PARU DUNIA

Kata itulah yang muncul dari bibirku yang saat ini hari “>ini “>sedang menikmati indahnya pagi, meskipun hari ini ini “>ada jadwal besar untuk untuk “>sebuah diriku, tapi aku masih masih “>berkenan untuk menulis dalam catatan media alternatif ku ini. Disaat Televisi-televisi dan radio swasta memulai iring-iringan suara untuk menentukan siapa pemenang antara KPK dan POLISI, saya hari ini masih tertegun dengan suatu upaya manusia yang diwakili oleh GREENPEACE untuk suatu  ”>perubahan tatanan lingkungan  class=”hiddenSpellError” pre=”lingkungan “>diseluruh  pre=”diseluruh “>dunia, saya tidak  pre=”Bumi “>tidak “>menyinggung ini ini “>untuk untuk “>masalah politik yang ada saat ini, tapi seyogyanya kita sebagai sebagai “>penduduk penduduk “>BUMI untuk “>BUMI “>setidaknya memiliki peran dan andil untuk BUMI ini sendiri. bayangkan, Apa yang pernah kamu kamu “>lakukan ketika kamu dilempar sesuatu yang busuk semisal sampah?? Marah Tidak!!! Bumi tidak begitu kawan!!! dia hanya diam dan tunduk terperangah oleh kelakuan manusia. Bayangkan kawan, berapa juta penduduk bumi dikalikan jumlah konsumsi tiap harinya, kalo Anda berfikir berarti Anda akan berperan aktif untuk perlindungan terhadap Bumi mulai Pagi ini. Ayo Kawan. Nah, Greenpeace sebagai social responsibilty khususnya dalam bidang environment, sangat mengapresiasi hajatan CLIMATE CHANGE SUMMIT dengan menurunkan aksi instalasi dari kardus menyerupai orang, kalian juga juga bisa ikutan juga loh disini, jadi nanti kalian dapat menggambar gambar rupa wajah si kardus ato mengupload gambar kamu kamu sendiri. trus nanti kamu kamupilih beberapa warna yang cocok ma kamu, trus tulis tulis pesan ke UN CLIMATE CHANGE, pesen yang kamu tulis, kemungkinan besar akan dibawa juga ke COPENHAGEN tapi mungkin tidak semuanya yaaaaa.

Meditations in Job : 54.  How can a Man be Righteous?

Job 25:4 How then can a man be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

Job has been protesting his righteousness and the three ‘friends’ have been struggling with that!  Bildad comes in, for the last time, with an attack on that assertion. It is in fact the last of the words from the friends. In the remainder of the book we will see Job speaking, then Elihu an outsider speaking, and then the Lord.

To start this last argument, Bildad exalts the Lord: “Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. Can his forces be numbered? Upon whom does his light not rise?” (v.2,3) i.e. God is the supreme ruler who brings peace (implied)  and order to heaven. He calls upon countless angels to serve Him and His glory shines on all of creation. This is the God with whom we have to deal. So far, so good! Implied within all this is God’s perfection, perfection in His being and perfection in all He does. Before Him, Bildad continues in our verse above, how can any man stand righteous? How can any human being claim to be righteous?

He then sets up a strange comparison: “If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, how much less man, who is but a maggot– a son of man, who is only a worm!” (v.5,6) If the moon and the stars are not bright in comparison to His glory (implied), how much less be a mere human being, who is but a maggot in God’s order of things?  I have heard the same being said in the sceptical derision of modern day atheists: If God is so great how could he possibly worry about such mundane and minute figures such as we are? And there is a great mystery – the love of God!

When we seek to examine Scripture as a whole, we come across two amazingly different pictures of mankind. The first puts us down:

• For instance the apostle Paul wrote, “death came to all men, because all sinned.” (Rom 5:12) and “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Rom 3:23)
• David said, “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me,” (Psa 51:5) and “All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one,” (Psa 14:3) and, agreeing with Bildad, “no one living is righteous before you.” (Psa 143:2).
• Jeremiah spoke similarly: “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.” (Jer 17:9)

So, this first position shows mankind as utterly sinful and in that respect, in their original state, there is nothing good about them. But there is a second view of mankind:

• “What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him? You made him a little lower than the angels; you crowned him with glory and honour and put everything under his feet.” (Heb 2:6-8 quoting Psa – this is mankind who God made to rule over the earth.
• Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence, rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.” (Prov 8:30,31) i.e. God delighted in mankind when He made us!
• “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (Jn 3:16,17) i.e. God still loved this world – the people on it – even though we are sinners.

This latter position shows that we were created to a position of authority and rule and honour and even though we are fallen, God still loved us enough to send His Son to die for us. So, can we be righteous? That is Bildad’s concern. Can we be righteous apart from Jesus, we might add?

Consider: “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God.” (Gen 6:9) and “Return his cloak to him by sunset so that he may sleep in it. Then he will thank you, and it will be regarded as a righteous act in the sight of the LORD your God.” (Deut 24;13) and “Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.” (Psa 1:5) and “But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God” (Psa 68:3) and “Thus you will walk in the ways of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous.” (Prov 2:20) and “The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry” (Prov 10:3). ‘The righteous’ in all of these cases (and very many more in the Old Testament) are those who walk with God and follow His ways and are morally upright.

Let’s move on a step: “Abram believed the LORD, and he credited it to him as righteousness.” (Gen 15:6) and “to the man who does not work but trusts God who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.” (Rom 4:5). Here we see ‘righteousness’ clarified as that which God declares over a person when they simply believe Him! Where there is faith, there is righteousness.  Can we be righteous? Yes, by walking with God – by receiving His salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ, and being led by His Holy Spirit. This IS righteousness. We could say so much more on this subject but space forbids for the moment. Bildad, you’ll  need to see the wider testimony of Scripture and realise that although we are fallen, we are loved and, being loved, we can enter into a living relationship with God whereby He declares us righteous for believing what He has done for us and then for what He is doing in us.

Kertas. Kata ini sedemikian biasa di telinga kita. Kata yang menunjukkan nama suatu benda yang tipis, putih atau warna-warni, yang kita bisa menuliskan sesuatu padanya. Selain benda tipis yang bisa dibubuhi tulisan, sang kertas juga bisa berwujud piring, serbet, tas, popok, bahkan penutup pintu dan jendela, seperti di rumah-rumah tradisional Jepang.

Pernah kah kita berkenalan lebih jauh lagi dengan si kertas ini? Sebagian dari kita mungkin mencibir, “seperti tidak ada pekerjaan lain saja ”. Benarkah begitu?

Kertas, si barang biasa yang terlalu biasa untuk kita perhatikan, ternyata punya asal-usul luar biasa. Dan untuk bisa sampai ke tangan kita, sang kertas juga harus melalui berbagai peristiwa yang hebat. Namun sebelum mengikuti petualangan si kertas sampai ke tangan kita, baiknya kita tahu dulu dari mana kertas bermula. Ya, sebagian dari kita telah mengetahuinya. Bahan baku untuk membuat kertas adalah kayu. Dan kayu berasal dari pohon-pohon yang ditebang di hutan.

Seperti cerita pemuda gunung yang mencari nafkah ke kota, si kertas pun yang berasal dari kayu di hutan harus melalui perjalanan panjang untuk sampai kepada kita. Dia harus menyusuri sungai, naik kapal tongkang, masuk penggilingan di pabrik kertas, kemudian dikemas, lalu diangkut dengan mobil container, masuk gudang dan toko, dikirim ke kantor atau sekolah, dan berakhir di meja.

Berapa banyakkah kayu yang “berurbanisasi” menjadi kertas di dunia ini? Menurut website www.printgreener.com, satu batang pohon (kayu) menghasilkan sekitar 16 rim kertas. Pernahkah kita menghitung berapa rim kertas yang digunakan oleh suatu kantor dalam sebulan?.

Untuk lebih jelasnya, berikut beberapa poin penting tentang kertas yang dikutip penulis dari website www.printgreener.com/earthday.html.
• 1 ton kertas = 400 rim = 200.000 lembar
• Utuk memproduksi 1 ton kertas, dibutuhkan 3 ton kayu dan 98 ton bahan baku lainnya.
• Setiap jam, dunia kehilangan 1.732,5 hektar hutan karena ditebang untuk dijadikan bahan baku kertas.
• Untuk memproduksi 3 lembar kertas dibutuhkan 1 liter air.

Itu untuk memproduksi kertas. Nah selama proses produksi pun, kertas menghasilkan berbagai macam limbah. Diantaranya :
• Dalam memproduksi 1 ton kertas, dihasilkan gas karbondioksida sebanyak kurang lebih 2,6 ton. Jumlah ini setara dengan gas buang yang dihasilkan sebuah mobil selama 6 bulan.
• Dalam memproduksi 1 ton kertas, dihasilkan kurang lebih 72.200 liter limbah cair dan 1 ton limbah padat.
• Setelah kertas dibuang, kertas ini akan terurai. Proses terurainya kertas menghasilkan gas metana. Dan gas metana juga merupakan penyebab pemanasan global. Malahan gas metana ini 20 kali lebih berbahaya dibanding gas karbondioksida, dalam hal menyebabkan naiknya suhu global.
Jadi, masih menganggap K E R T A S adalah kata yang biasa ?

Mari kita beralih ke hal lain, namun masih ada hubungannya dengan kertas. Bagi orang yang bekerja di luar rumah, ketika tiba waktunya makan siang, tentu mereka akan makan di warung nasi atau restoran. Namun ada juga yang lebih memilih makan di tempat kerjanya, dan membeli nasi bungkus.

Pernahkan kita perhatikan kertas pembungkus nasi? Ya, selembar kertas cukup tebal dan agak kaku, biasanya dilapisi plastik. Kertas ini menjadi wadah dari santapan siang kita yang, setelah kita selesai makan, kita remas-remas lalu dibuang ke tempat sampah. Praktis.

Ada berapa orang teman yang makan bersama anda? Diantara mereka itu, berapa orang yang makan nasi bungkus? 2 orang? 3 orang? Pernahkah kita mengira-ngira berapa juta orang yang makan nasi bungkus siang ini, di Indonesia saja dulu. Jika katakanlah ada 1 juta orang yang makan nasi bungkus, berarti ada 1 juta lembar kertas pembungkus nasi yang diremas-remas lalu dibuang ke tempat sampah. Jika 1 juta lembar ini di kumpulkan dalam satu tempat sampah, kira-kira berapa besar ya tempat sampahnya? dan berapa ton berat sampah kertas tersebut?

Itu satu siang saja. Belum lagi makan malam, belum sarapan. Itu dalam sehari. Jika seminggu, sebulan, setahun, berapa ton kertas yang terbuang? Dan ini berarti berapa hektar hutan yang ditebang.

Kertas pembungkus nasi ini bisa kita golongkan ke jenis kertas sekali pakai. Karena penggunaannya hanya sekali saja, setelah itu dibuang. Berbeda dengan kertas yang menjadi buku, meskipun digunakan atau hanya bisa di cetak sekali, namun buku tidak dibuang. Sebenarnya ada banyak macam kertas yang tergolong kertas sekali pakai. Ada kertas kado, kertas kemasan produk, amplop, dan banyak lagi. Yang pada umumnya, kesemua bahan bakunya sama, yakni kayu dari hutan.

Mari kita lanjutkan kisah kertas ini. Bagi orang-orang yang hidup di kota besar, mereka tentu sangat akrab dengan sejenis kertas lembut bernama tissue, entah ia menjadi tissue makan, tissue wajah, atau bahkan tissue kamar manadi. Kertas lembut ini juga bisa berwujud lain seperti popok bayi atau pembalut.

Di masa serba instan seperti sekarang, kertas lembut ini sedemikian populer digunakan orang. Karena kemudahannya dan kepraktisannya. Orang hanya tinggal membeli, gunakan, lalu buang. Tak perlu repot mencuci dan menjemur seperti halnya jika menggunakan kain lap, kain saputangan atau popok kain.

Namun kita tidak sadar, ternyata kemudahan tersebut ada harganya. Bahkan sangat mahal. Untuk mendapatkan kemudahan tersebut, kita sampai mengorbankan hutan-hutan yang tersisa.Baiklah, itu tadi adalah beberapa buah contoh betapa kita (kita disini mencakup penulis, anda pembaca, dan mereka semua yang memanfaatkan kertas dalam semua bentuk) adalah merupakan penggundul hutan meskipun secara tidak langsung.

Setelah kita mempunyai kesadaran betapa kita telah sedemikian lahapnya “memakan” hutan, alangkah baiknya jika kita berusaha untuk menjadi “tidak terlalu lahap”. Memang tidak dipungkiri bahwa kehidupan di masa sekarang ini, kita tidak bisa terlepas dari memanfaatkan kertas. Namun demikian bukan berarti kita juga bisa sesukanya dalam menggunakan kertas. Yang ujung-ujungnya menghabiskan secuil hutan yang tersisa.

Berikut adalah beberapa hal yang menurut hemat penulis, bisa dilakukan oleh kita semua dalam rangka mengurangi penggunaan kertas. Jika kita karyawan suatu perusahaan atau instansi, yang dalam operasionalnya tentu tidak bisa terlepas dari cetak-mencetak, kita bisa melakukan hal-hal berikut:
• Memanfaatkan halaman kosong dari selembar kertas yang sudah diisi namun tidak dibutuhkan lagi. Halaman kosong ini bisa kita gunakan kembali untuk mencetak data tidak begitu penting atau untuk dokumentasi saja.
• Mencetak dokumen dua halaman atau lebih dalam satu lembar.
• Menggunakan perangkat lunak untuk mengirimkan fax, agar tidak perlu mencetak dulu dokumen yang akan dikirimkan melalui fax.
• Tidak mencetak hal-hal yang tidak perlu. Halaman web, email, dsb, sebisa mungkin dilihat langsung di layar komputer.

Dalam kehidupan sehari-hari pun kita perlu untuk membatasi penggunaan kertas. Seperti misalnya:
• Sebisa mungkin menghindari membeli nasi bungkus. Kita bisa makan di tempat atau di restoranya.
• Hal yang sama juga berlaku untuk makanan cepat saji yang biasa dibungkus kertas, sebaiknya kita makan di tempat.
• Kalaupun kita ingin makan di tempat kerja kita, maka kita bisa memesan makanan yang dikemas dengan wadah khusus seperti rantangan, dan sejenisnya.
• Jika kita bisa menikmati akses internet, maka untuk kebutuhan informasi kita tidak perlu membeli media cetak, yang notabene menggunakan kertas. Kita maksimalkan akses internet untuk mendapatkan segala informasi yang kita butuhkan.
• Akan lebih baik jika dalam beberapa hal kita bisa memanfaatkan kertas hasil daur ulang.

Demikian beberapa hal yang bisa kita lakukan dalam upaya kita mengurangi pemanfaatan kertas. Dan jika kita bisa melakukannya, mudah-mudahan secuil hutan yang tersisa sekarang ini, bisa kita selamatkan.

Sebagai penutup, bagi pembaca yang pernah nonton film yang berjudul “V for Vendetta”, mungkin akan terkesan dengan sebuah konsep tentang ‘ide’. Manusia sang pencetus ide boleh saja mati, namun ide itu sendiri, dia akan senantiasa hidup. Dan ide ini akan diwujudkan lagi oleh orang lain. Demikian seterusnya.

Hal yang sama berlaku bagi ide ‘hemat kertas’ ini. Penulis hanyalah seorang manusia diantara 6,7 miliar manusia yang menghuni planet ini. Penulis hanya baru bisa menulis dan secara pribadi telah berusaha untuk menjalankan apa-apa yang telah ditulis disini. Dengan adanya ruang untuk menyuarakan dan menyampaikan ide seperti lomba menulis “Membangun Kepedulian Terhadap Kelestarian Hutan” ini, penulis berharap ide ini bisa dilaksanakan juga oleh manusia lain yang sama-sama menghuni planet Bumi ini. Amin.

There’s a big question here:

Is the source of this attention finite or infinite? If infinite, then we are getting a good exchange. But, if it is finite, or somehow degradable, we may not realise the consequences of such transactions – until it is too late…

Hace unos meses emprendimos una larga aventura, cuyo comienzo concíamos, pero el desenlace aún no está escrito. Esta andadura comenzó como casi todas, con solo unos pocos caminantes. Ayudados también por los videos que nuestro buen amigo Jordanoggs comenzaba a colgar, empezamos a crecer poco a poco.

MAKASSAR, KOMPAS.com – Beredar kabar di situs jejaring sosial Facebook tentang penjarahan hasil laut taman nasional (TN) Takabonerate, Kepulauan Selayar, Sulawesi Selatan, Minggu (8/11). Seorang pengguna Facebook, Andi Aisyah, dalam catatannya mengaku menerima sms melalui kawannya dan mengabarkan oknum aparat kepolisian yang bertugas di Bajoe dilaporKan membekingi pengambilan bambu laut dan akar bahar di kawasan konservasi Takabonerate.

Bahkan, kabarnya oknum petugas tersebut diduga telah menjarah hasil laut yang terdapat di daerah pulau Sembilan, Kabupaten Sinjai, Sulsel. Dilaporkan juga bahwa pihak Jagawana (Penjaga Kawasan Kehutanan) di sekitar taman laut Takabonerate tidak bisa berbuat banyak, akibat keterbatasan personel dalam melakukan pengawasan.

Sejumlah pengguna layanan jejaring sosial itu mulai memberikan komentar dan menyesalkan adanya dugaan penjarahan yang melibatkan oknum polisi itu. Hal itu seperti yang disampaikan Rul Amirullah Tahir yang mendesak pihak-pihak terkait mengusut dugaan penjarahan hasil laut itu.

“Polisi dan Dinas terkait harus turun tangan mengawasi, percuma promosi festival Takabonerate kalau sumberdaya laut habis dicuri. Ini isu Internasional, pemkab, pemprov, Menteri Kelautan harus responsif,” demikian ungkap Rul dalam posting di Facebook.

Save the World with Michael Jackson, nace como un nuevo proyecto orientado a una realidad que cada día se hace más palpable: la destrucción de nuestro planeta.

Si hubiera que destacar una figura relacionada con la preocupación por nuestro mundo, ese fue y es, sin lugar a dudas, Michael Jackson. Integrador de razas, amante de la naturaleza y del ser humano. Por él, por nosotros y, sobre todo, por el planeta, queremos lanzar este pequeño proyecto.

Esto no se trata de ti, de nosotros o de Mike, se trata de nuestro PLANETA. Hoy en día se encuentra en decadencia y hay que moverse y luchar por hacer de este, un lugar mejor. La humanidad necesita un cambio y este tiene que producirse ya. Grandes visionarios como Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Buda o la madre Teresa de Calcuta intentaron prevenirnos de lo que podía pasar en un futuro. No podemos dejar que el fatal desenlace se produzca.

Airun, Laymar y yo, os damos la bienvenida a este nuevo proyecto. Gracias por estar aqui y, recordad, nos quedan cuatro años para salvar al mundo. Ese fue el mensaje que Mike nos quiso enviar. Lo único que queremos hacer es proclarmarlo y que todo el planeta se conciencie.

I’ve made up my mind.

You all have told me “You can’t save the world.” It’s too big, it’ll never work, I’ll only end up with misery for myself, etc., etc., etc.

I would just like to remind you that I’m out here, eleven hundred miles from my home, for a reason. And you know what? I AM going to save the world. It’s going to bow to me in submission, little by little. First, college (nobody ever got anywhere without hard work!). Then, hopefully, a missions trip, and after that…well, who knows (well, besides God)?

All the things I’ve done back home were to try to help you grow, to assist you in realizing the full potential of who you are. You have collectively shunned me for it. I used to care, but I don’t now. I realize that there are higher, more important matters than trivial social stigmata. I will keep plugging along, doing as I have been.

As I write this, I am a freshman at a university. I am full of untapped, limitless potential. The paths before me are almost infinite, stretching to beyond the horizon. I have massive power, and I am going to use my God-given gifts to do something that REALLY matters.

I’m going to make a difference.

So, to those of you who have ever told me that I can’t save the world:

Have you heard the good news?

When Greenpeace supporters told Apple that they wished its products came in green – Apple listened. Your voices turned Apple into a green IT industry leader – and we wanted to say thank you! Because not only has Apple dropped the worst toxic chemicals from its products – but the company itself is making some bold green moves, on behalf of our climate!

At the beginning of October Apple stormed out of the US Chamber of Commerce – a lobby group that has been using its funds to oppose climate change legislation.

Now we need your help to push the rest of the IT industry to follow in Apple’s footsteps – we can’t let Steve hog all the green.

Companies like Google, Microsoft, and IBM have a lot of green potential – they just need to start living up to it. They need to start showing some climate leadership and the first thing they could do is like Apple speak out against the climate stance of the US Chamber of Commerce.

Sign the petition that asks them to call the US Chamber of Commerce on its anti-climate legislation position or leave the Chamber in protest as Apple has already done.

Apple’s green attitude shows that you can turn IT companies into leaders – now we need to turn the rest of the IT industry into climate leaders.
