Completed: 2-8 Collision, 2-9 What Kate Did, 2-10 The 23rd Psalm. 68 episodes left, 67 days to go.

We get our first Ana & Mr. Eko flashbacks and we finally learn what Kate did. Let’s start with Collision, the episode where Ana keeps Sayid tied up. I seriously wanted to strangle 5-0 (Ana Lucia’s new nickname) during this episode. She is so uncompromising and unwilling to listen to reason. She told Bernard that she kept him alive, but the lives of the other 19 tailgaters were lost in some part due to her poor leadership. At least she makes the right decision in the end and let’s Sayid go. On a lighter note, Jin goes home to Sun and has the physical/metaphorical handcuff removed. It’s going to be great to see Jin evolve as a character now that he will begin to learn english.

Now onto our girl Freckles (Kate). After a little rough touch nursing incident (Sawyer choking Kate), Kate decides to run off and get spooked by a horse. Is it real? Who the hell knows on this island! (It is later confirmed as read) BUT we FINALLY get to the bottom of Kate’s story and….we have a prediction winner. Cut to me your humble blogger host doing a solo fist pump (that’s what she said) and texting a friend bragging how right I was….Kate killed her dad! Never mind my invisible dino and alien island creation predictions looks rather poor at the moment. Who cares that my prediction record has historically resembled the Washington Generals (or Redskins for that matter)…I got one right! Or half right since it sounds like Kate was never molested, which makes her motive all the more intriguing…she didn’t want to be from someone that evil. I’m glad we finally got to meet General Dad (Kate’s dad) and I can’t help but think the onion’s going to peeled back on him a bit more. This episode also gives us some more insight into the Sawyer-Kate-Jack love triangle. Jack & Kate finally kiss but it’s a total party foul on Jack due to Sawyer’s condition, due to the fact he told Jack he loves Kate and after Sawyer did Jack such a solid by telling him about his dad. To make matters even more confusing, Kate tells Sawyer that it reminds her of Wayne (dead biological daddy) when she has feelings for him and it makes her sick. Sawyer picks that moment to have a Lazarus reawakening. There’s no WAY Kate is picking Jack, it’s Sawyer all the way…

After learning about Kate we finally get some info on our pal Mr. Eko. How cool is he?? Mr. Eko saves his brother the trouble of killing the town priest and goes all Blood Diamond and becomes a hardcore drug trafficker. In part 423 of the infinite part series of “I don’t believe in Lost coincidences”, Boone’s downed plane turns out to be Eko’s plane and the dead are his old partners and brother!! Didn’t see that coming! Is EVERYTHING in this show going to come back full circle?? For now I’ll throw it in the closest with Locke’s wheelchair and Boone’s distress call. The jungle and burial scene was great TV (or DVD) but I was hoping for Charlie to burn the heroin. Instead he takes all the statues and doesn’t explain himself well to Prego, who promptly tells him to find some other piece of charred plane and canopy to call home.

Mr. Eko doesn’t just shine is his flashback…he also gives the missing film to Locke. This must mean we’re about to find out more about the hatch?? Nope…just more questions. Don’t feed gremlins after midnight and don’t use the computer for anything else but the code! Cut to Dumb-ass Dad (Michael) talking to Walt on the computer! So The Other’s have a computer?? They must if they have a boat. Why haven’t The Other’s gone into the hatch already?? They are too skilled to not have broken in. Maybe this Walt thing is a ruse (your cunning attempt to trick me) to get into the hatch and get at the computer. And as far as the “incident” referred to on the film…er maybe..er…some other operators screwed up before and they blew up another island somewhere.? Did I mention I got the Kate thing right!! One thing is for sure, I agree Locke, it does not seem like a coincidence that the plane broke in 2 and both groups were able to discover pieces to the film. Finally a note on Walt’s ghost, how sad was it that we find out that Sayid could see Walt in the jungle when Sticks (Shannon) got shot? Just when he finds out she is telling the truth, she dies and he can never tell her she’s not crazy. Tear.

Next up on Finally Lost…Dumb-ass Dad goes solo and tries to rescue Walt??

Say hello to the winners of the “who is your favorite character poll”…Sawyer and Sayid. Before we look at the favorite characters lets look at who didn’t get any votes:
- Jack: I guess he really does cry to much for his own good. No one voted for the fearless leader! It’s like teenage mutant ninja turtles, everyone loves Michelangelo and Rafael but there’s no love for Leonardo. All Jack’s done is keep the survivors together, safe and given them hope. Plus he has a sick golf game.
- Kate: This surprised me more than anything else. I thought we’d have SOME Kate lovers. She’s a hott bad ass rebel with a heart of gold. She can fight, track, shoot and steal, what’s not to love about Kate?? Who else could manipulate a gang to rob a bank for a toy airplane??
- Charlie: Everyone’s not so favorite junky rockstar. I agree with this non pick. While I like Charlie he hasn’t really done anything that stands out. He is an underachiever among superstars (Locke, Sayid, Kate, Jack, Sawyer I’m looking at you). His codependence on Prego is pretty annoying and someone needs to tell him that he is not Aaron’s dad.
- Prego (Claire):  I like Claire, I just don’t love her. I do however love the psychic story line so I’m hoping the writers take her character somewhere beyond the crying mom that’s always defending her baby.
- Boone: He probably died too early in the series for people to really get attached to. Then there was the thing where his banged his hott step sister. Not sure if that helps or hurts his cause. Props for being Locke’s understudy, getting seriously injured while on the plane radio and for accepting his death in order to conserve the already scarce medicine.
- Sticks (Shannon): You all know she is not my favorite character. Sadly she also died too early (my bad). She could have made a comeback with the whole looking for Walt mission but I think it was too little to late.
- Michael: The character I hate most. What’s most frustrating is I only hate him when he’s dealing with Walt. If he’s looking for Walt or talking to Walt I want him to moonwalk right into the defense mechanism/invisible dino. When he’s playing with the adults (raft building time with Sawyer & Jin) then I really like Michael. Plus points for building the raft, minus points for bailing on your kid shortly after he was born.
- Walt: It was going to be really hard for the kid to get some votes. You got to like the fact that everything seems to go his way except of course when he gets kidnapped by The Others. I’m hoping he gets rescued and becomes more of an interesting character.
- Sun: I’m pretty shocked that no one voted for her. I think Sun is such a deep and intriguing character. She runs a garden, learns english on the sly and stays with her husband even though it may not be the best choice at the time. I forgot to put Jin up there and I hope he would have gotten at least one vote. He seems to be loyal to Michael and Sawyer and he still loves Sun. I’m looking forward to Jin developing as a more complete and beloved character.

Now onto the characters that did receive votes:
- Hurley (2 votes):  Known best by the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 for creating a golf course and hosting junkfood-thanksgiving, Hurley is probably the most well liked survivor. Add the ingredients that he can’t keep a secret, is worth a $130M, and knows about the numbers, and you have a lovable character.
- Someone I haven’t met yet (3 votes): I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this is either Mr. Ed (Eko) or Desmond. I don’t know much about Desmond but Eko rocks. He saved my favorite character (Sawyer) and doesn’t listen to Mean Bitch (Ana). I also love that he gave up speaking for 40 days.
- Locke (3 votes): John Locke, the man, the myth, the legend. Conned out of a kidney by his own father, crippled for a so far unexplained reason, un-crippled for a so far unexplained reason, master hunter, master tracker, hatch discoverer, hatch opener and of course ALWAYS knows what is troubling the survivors (and often helps them through it). Minus points for the preachy faith thing, otherwise full fledge bad ass.

And the WINNERS are (2-way tie):
- Sayid: I think I know why people love Sayid. He’s tough, he always knows what to do and he’s always fixing some ridiculous electronic device. He tends to fly off the handle a bit but that’s just part of his charm. I have high hopes for Sayid. I’m still holding out hope that he will meet his great Iraqi love if (when?) they get off the island. I also think he will be a key contributor because he’ll fix some yet to be seen device to get them to safety. Sayid you are a winner!

- Sawyer
My favorite character. He’s the survivor you are supposed to hate but like Kate you can’t help falling in love. Like every misunderstood bad boy with a complicated and tragic past, he tries to do the right thing when you least expect it (telling Jack about his father, attempting to protect Walt). He also shares my hobbies of nicknames and doesn’t let the fact that he’s on a deserted island get in the way of him having the exact amount of bad boy scruff. Looking forward to Sawyer becoming more domesticated with Kate as the show moves along…

3 more episodes down (“…And Down”, “Abandoned” & “The Other 48 Days”) and so much to talk about. First we get a Sun & Jin flashback episode centered around Sun losing her wedding ring. While nothing really happened this episode I still thought it was a great episode. No main plot revelations were needed because Sun and Jin carried the episode like it was Sawyer with a gun shot wound. And speaking of speaking of gun shot wounds…I’m sorry Sticks, I think I’ve jinxed your family. One episode after I declared no main characters would die in Season 1 Boone took a nose dive in a tree-parked plane. Incredibly  only 2 episodes following my latest dumb prediction that no main characters from Season 2 will die, you get shot. There is nothing I hate (or love) more than hott on hott girl crime. On the bright side you’ve given Sayid an out and he can now go back to pining over a much more worthy gal.

Now it’s in poor taste to mock Sticks after she was given a semi-tragic death scene and a spectacular flashback episode. First we find out Stick’s dad was the person Jack’s wife killed in the car crash (we even see Jack in the same room). Then I remembered Jack viewed her dad as a lost cause and didn’t even bother to work on him. Next we meet a mother-in-law so mean that we actually feel bad for Sticks. Really? You’re not going to feel even a little bad after taking all her inheritance? Well I hope Sticks gets back at you someday and pretends to get beat by her boyfriends just to con you out of money. Dammit, now I’m even OK with that behavior!  And for a cherry on top Shannon (got to give her some respect) selflessly runs off to chase ghost Walt resulting in her own demise. Stick’s I’ll miss you in a bikini and I’ll miss you because I think given time you could have really redeemed yourself and turned into a productive citizen on magic island.

And now to the meat of it. The Tailgaters!!! The beach scene was AWESOME. The plane looked like an asteroid falling to earth which keeps me wonder how all those people survived the crash. We also get a great parallel between the tailgaters and tribe prime. Great writing to show how the survivors of Oceanic flight 815 continued to live their affluent first class existence. They got all the luggage, they got all the skilled survivors and they even landed on the beach instead of the water. The folks in the back of the bus were literally in the back of the bus. Those second class citizens were awarded beach front property right in the lair of The Others. They got no resources from the plane, no doctor and not enough good people to help them survive. I thought the symbolism of Ana letting gimpy-leg guy die in order to save resources was so striking verses Jack (at the same exact time across the island) spending too many resources to save the doomed US Marshall. Then The Others come and turn the happy to be alive Tailgaters into an untrusting band and cause Mr. Ed to give up speaking for Lent. Very interesting that The Others were able to infiltrate both sides and they are a bit obsessed with kids. NEW PREDICTION: The island is really Michael Jackson’s super secret Neverland 2 ranch(too soon??). If that prediction doesn’t work then I suppose they kidnap the kids so they can retrain them while they are young so someday they can grow and be child kidnappers and killers just like their Other parents. Oh and before I forget, how about the fact that Boone was talking to Bernard when he was in the plane! The monumental events that followed made me totally forget thinking…who the hell is answering the plane radio?? The range can’t be so good, it’d have to be somebody really close…you know like Rose’s white husband (love that they made a half joke about it on the beach). All in all great episodes and I don’t hate Mean Bitch half as much. She is almost a product of her magic island environment…notice I said almost. Jack would have saved gimpy-leg or cried trying…

Next up on Finally Lost…On Day 48 (NUMBER) the two tribes converge and we get to see how Sayid reacts to Mean Bitch killing his girlfriend. I predict he will fix a transceiver and shove it where the sun don’t shine…

p.s. I think it’s very interesting that while Shannon saw ghost Walt the other survivors heard the strange whispering. What is going on there…

WOW what a season 1 finale. As you know Before starting I knew just about nothing about LOST (save they eventually get off the island, numbers are important and the island maybe a government or alien creation) so there were quite a few things I did not see coming. Everyone got a flashback (which was awesome). Frenchy pulled a rope-a-dope and kidnapped devil baby (Erin!) in order to swap for her 16 yr old son. The Others were really after Walt and it looks like they have a motorboat (why are they still on the island then!). Jack gives Sawyer a gun and Sawyer tells Jack about his encounter with Jack’s father (it’s like the writers read my last post). Hurley saw the numbers on the hatch. The Prof blew himself up with dynamite in a wicked cool scene (I’m sorry that the Prof died, esp since I’ve taken the trouble to give him a cool nickname). The invisible-dino is really a defense system which appears to be mechanical. Jin and Sun reconcile. Sticks shows heart, Charlie finds the heroin, the US marshal put the toy airplane in the safety deposit box, Jack is no longer married, Sayid uses gun powder to fix Charlie and the list goes on and on…

As I said before I really loved how this episode gave everyone flashbacks. They really made you feel how how much the characters have changed in the last month. The theme of the flashbacks seemed to be how the main survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 almost didn’t get on the plane but fate stepped in and assured they were. Interestingly enough we had our survivors sitting in rows 23,16,42, etc. And who is that hott chick that was hitting on Jack who just happened to be sitting in row 42 (last row in the plane). Would they bring her up and make her sit in that row if she wasn’t important? Could she be alive on the island and hanging out with Rose’s hubby??

All in all I am loving LOST right now. Season 1 had a tight the story and everything felt connected and purposeful. They probably gave us enough answers in the finale but I would have had trouble waiting between seasons to find out what happened to the folks on the boat and what’s in the goddamn hatch!! I think the next thing I need to explore is…what is the island??..because like Sawyer said, it’s too big to not have been discovered.

Next up on Finally Lost, I’m really wondering how they will bridge the time gap between seasons. So far only roughly a month has gone by. Will we pick up hours, weeks or months later? How the hell are Michael, Jin and Sawyer going to survive being 15 miles out with no boat? Will we EVER find out what’s in that damn hatch. Are the survivors going to start figuring out how they are all connected? Is hott girl #42 going to come back?

2 more episodes down and still NO idea what’s in the damn hatch! I only have the 2 part season finale left and there are still so many unanswered questions however this time we were given a few morsels of answers. Mystery 1 solved: John Locke knock out Sayid and destroyed his equipment. I KNEW it! Wait let’s go back to the record…”Locke is very suspicious because he does too good of a job convincing Sayid it was Sawyer (even though the audience knows it wasn’t) and I’m not sure he wants to be rescued from what he dubbed “magic island” because unlike at home he has a role and is respected. That being said, I’m going to pin it on a yet to met character.” Good reasoning but went with unknown character who turned out to be Ethan. I’ll give myself half a point for reasoning, for narrowing it down to 2 good guesses and for identifying that there was someone already on the island that was going to cause them problems. Fair?

And we got some answers about Kate in her flashback. Kate did kill the man she loved and predictably it wasn’t at her hands although clearly it was her fault (BITCH that’s why no one’s voting for you on my poll!). We found out the significance of the plane!! Now that I know it, am I really expected to believe Kate would risk everything by breaking into a bank to get a toy plane? How did it get in that safety deposit box anyway? We still don’t know what Kate’s original crime was to set the law after her but maybe in her next flashback. I’d also love to know what she did to her mom to piss her off so much. PREDICTION: Kate was molested by her step-dad and ended up killing him by accident. That seems to fit and still keeps her hands relatively clean…

Before I get to Sticks I need to say something to the on the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815: can you PLEASE tell each other more about yourselves! In honor of Walt telling his dad that he burned the raft I have my list of top info that would be really useful if shared:
- Hurley’s numbers (then maybe they’ll notice they’re on the hatch)
- Hurley’s numbers (it’s f’n important!)
- The fact that Locke can now walk
- Whatever the hell Locke knows about the island
- Prego’s psychic setup
-  The story of Jack’s father and Sawyer (this isn’t really important but it would be really nice for Jack and maybe him and Sawyer could then be bff’s)
- Am I missing anything???

One last thing about Walt. I’m starting to think he really does have some sort of super power. He touches Locke and then has a bad feeling about the hatch. In the past there was him always rolling the correct dice against Hurley and that bird showed up at his house when his parent’s weren’t listening to him. His step-dad DID call him the luckiest man alive…

And finally Sticks. What the hell were you thinking girl Locke’s the bet shot you got!? And how the hell did you know about the secret guns and that Jack had the key? Something was very odd about the shooting scene. I kept replaying it and it looked like she shot Locke in the stomach. Can anyone confirm? Is the island trying to protect Locke? Why did he get the use of his legs back again? Did it have something to do with the Hatch? I don’t think I like Sticks very much but Sayid is the man. His flashback was a great story and it made his scene with Frenchy more significant when he talked about giving up on finding his love. I really don’t see why he likes Stick’s other than she is pretty hott. But I guess on a deserted island that’s probably enough…

Next up on Finally Lost I get to see the Season Finale of Lost Season 1!! I’m predicting 4 answers and 2342 more questions. By the way today is the last day to vote for your favorite character, so please vote and I will do a write up on the winner.

They number’s are finally here! As I’ve said before I know almost nothing about Lost except they eventually get off the island and there may be some alien or government connection with the island. I left out one thing…I kept hearing about numbers (although I didn’t know what they were or their significance). Numbers have arrived in spades. The numbers are on the capsule, 815 is the flight everyone was on, Frenchy’s been on the island for 16 years, Hurley’s pyscho friend got the number message 16 years ago. I’m willing to bet if I re-watch the episodes they will appear everywhere. And is it just me or are the numbers inherently freaky? I haven’t figured out a pattern between the numbers yet but there is something familiar about them. 42 is of course famous because in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy it is the secret to life, the universe and everything, and there is no question the writers put that in on purpose.

So I’ve received feedback that I haven’t made enough predictions in this blog which I promise is more a result of me having no idea what’s going on as opposed to me being afraid of predicting dumb things. To celebrate the arrival of the numbers I plan on making bold predictions but first I’ve got to talk about Michael, Jin and Hurley…

I got something right!! I KNEW Walt set the raft on fire and I KNEW he was going to pay for being a poor parent. Michael please come to the beach to receive your burt raft debris as prize for winning the ‘worst father on magic island’ award. Jin we haven’t forgotten about you…we have an ass beating from Sawyer and betrayal in the form of learned English from your wife. What to say about Jin. I was ready to hate him after Sun’s episode and then we learn Jin recognized his mistakes and planned on leaving the business (it also doesn’t hurt that the blood on his hands was a result of SAVING someone’s life). But then Jin breaks my heart (and Sun’s) by leaving her (or by traveling 1 mile to the beach). Jin why didn’t you accept the fresh start..it was right there!!. Before I move onto Hurley it’s worth mentioning that Locke has a super power of knowing exactly how to help everyone. He keeps Walt’s secret (hell he even figured it out), builds Prego a crib, gets Charlie off heroine and even stops Boone from having step-incest with Sticks (Shannon). For his next trick he’s going to open the capsule and use the alien technology to fly the tribe off the island??

I finally understand why people love Hurley and I would like to officially register my man crush on Hurley. Multi-Multi-Millionaire?? I did not see that one coming. It makes the scene where he lost 23 thousand dollars to Walt that much funnier. Once again great writing here, who better to bring in the serious/cursed number plot than the most unserious character on magic island. Hell Charlie wouldn’t even consider the fact that Hurley is a millionaire.

Ok, I’ve stalled for too long here come some predictions. . I’m going to go with aliens. The capsule is an alien artifact stranded on the island. It some how pulled The Others boat to the island and made most of them go crazy. The power source was sending off the numbers as a beacon but had the unfortunate affect of making everyone who encountered the numbers go crazy. Frenchy saved us all by switching the beacon to her ma-day signal instead of the crazy aliens. The message wasn’t cancelled in time however and it affected more people than just The Others (like Hurley and his psycho friends). I also think somehow everyone on the island has been affected by the numbers and it somehow got them on the plane and the power of the numbers/magic island saved them so they can complete whatever the aliens need help with (ET go home?). That’s all I got! No help please..save your complete mockery till I catch up in a few weeks!

Next up…um I have no clue…but Prego’s got to have that devil child at some point…

I made mention that this show had great writing before but they went off the charts with the episode Outlaws (my new favorite episode). That was a 16 episode payoff. Sawyer meets who his thinks is the real Sawyer and spares his life. In a twist of fate he meets Jack’s dad in a bar and listens to his tale of how much he loves and admires his son but is too weak to tell him. Jack’s dad then advises Sawyer to complete his business if it will ease his pain. Based on his Red Sox baseball reference and that particular phrasing, I wonder if the writers are giving a nod to Field of Dreams because “ease his pain” was used to help repair a relationship between a dead father and his son who betrayed him. Ironically Sawyer has the opportunity to ease Jack’s pain but like Jack’s father he is too weak to do it. Unfortunately all this phrase does is convinces Sawyer to take revenge on the man who he thinks has ruined his life. Sawyer’s pain is anything but eased when he finds out he killed the wrong man and was setup. Top all this off with the fact that the Red Sox have won the world series while Jack and Sawyer are on the island and you have a writing masterpiece. Sawyer now has quite a lot of power over Jack, it’ll be interesting to see how he uses it…

Now onto a much lighter topic…incest. Boone and Shannon are only step brother and sister and get it on! On one hand it’s disgusting, but on the other hand I’m with the writers here…any reason to put Shannon in situations where her clothes come off is OK with me. We’ve been flirting with creepy disaster since the series began with these two. Every time Boone and Shannon were onscreen together it gave me an uncomfortable feeling, finding out they are step brother/sister dispels some of that tension. I’m glad the writers hung us out there so long. Other than that not much has gone on unless you count the fact that Frenchy was quoting kid’s lyrics on her maps, Prego appears out of thin air with no memory, the tribe surrounds Ethan with guns (how thick was Ethan walking into that trap?) , Charlie kills Ethan and Michael builds an arc. First Ethan. Congratulations, you get the dumb-ass of the blog award! With all your super tracking skills and formidable strength, you fall for an obvious trap with obvious bait. As Death Helmet once said to Lone star..ok I’ll give you the ring back…OH NO you fell for the oldest TRICK man!  And Charlie how could you?? We were 10 minutes of Sahid torture away from finally getting some answers, but you decided to blow that away along with Ethan. I suppose I can’t hate too much, the man tried to hang ya. Is it too soon to decide to track down Frenchy and get some answers?? Why do The Others want Claire?? Who are they??

I’d be remiss if I didn’t comment on Michael’s flashback. Am I now supposed to like him now that I know he was a great father before Walt was born and his baby’s mama was a 2 timing selfish heartless biatch? NO. I still think he’s annoying and not very likable. The fact that he was once a good parent makes me even more mad that he’s a bad dad now. Treat your kid like a person or you never know when it’ll come back to bite ya. P.S. I almost laughed when you got hit by that car…

Finally I need to make a few comments about the show. Much like the tribe I feel pretty lost. I’ve already given my lab island/invisible dino theory but that’s all I got. I’m guessing that all the people in the plane are some how connected although it’s asking a lot of luck from magic island that the right people survived the crash. Maybe everyone was connected and it doesn’t matter who survived? Not sure I buy that. My point is, I don’t have any great theories yet and I’m not sure I have enough info either. When talking to a friend this weekend he kept talking around things and I couldn’t understand anything all I got was…”I have a theory on that…”, “I have an idea on why that is…” and it struck me that I can’t say that at all. I wondering if I’m as thick as Michael or just supposed to be in the dark like Prego…

I’ll give people a week on the poll and then I’ll do a write up on everyone’s favorite character. I’m also taking ideas for any topic if people want to guest blog (why you started watching the show, an entry on how obsessed you are etc.). Next up we get to see if this raft goes anywhere and I’m hoping for a Hurley-centric episode…

Como todos devem ter percebido ultimamente, parei um pouco com os comentarios sobre filmes e me dediquei a musicas das quais babei uma grande pro Miachael Giacchino e ate escrevi sobre sua trilha pra lost.

Pois é, pra quem não sabe (e quem é que sabe?) eu voltei a ver Lost e a babar com os episódios da serie e tudo mais, e hoje revi um dos meus preferidos.

Da terceira tempora, Tricia Tanaka is dead provavelmente é o episódio mais ligth de toda a série até hoje(a última temporada ta pra sair ainda). Light foi o melhor adjetivo que consegui pra definir um episódio que chutou todo o ritmo que os caras trouxeram da segunda temporada e mantiveram nessa terceira até agora.

A série está em um momento muito pesado com a descoberta dos “outros” e Jack desaparecido as coisas tenderam a desandar e o pessoal do vôo 815 da Oceanic a se desesperar e por isso provocar um peso maior em cada episódio.

Mas os roteiristas maravilhosos de Lost não estão nem aí e mandam se fuder quem quer apenas tensão jogando em seu papel uma condução que resfria o ambiente dos passageiros e do espectador.

Pra começar o episódio é do Hurley, e por isso qualquer um que segue a série já sabe que vai ter ao menos um tininho assim de diversão. E o mais impressionante ao se ver “Tricia Tanaka is dead” é que além de divertir ele emociona e muito e passa uma das mensagens mais bonitas que eu já vi ser passadas em tela.

Temos os flashbacks da vida de Hugo e nos deparamos com ele pequeno e ainda magro ( ! ) se despedindo de seu pai que o abandonou por dezessete anos. Conhecemos também a personagem que dá título ao capítulo, Tricia Tanaka. E descobrimos que ao fazer uma entrevista sobre o novo restaurante que Hugo comprou com um pouco do dinheiro que ganhou da loteria, Tricia morre atingida por um meteoro (ou meteorito) junto com todo o restaurante. É trágico, mas é impossível não rir da surrealidade abstrata da situação hiper nonsense.

Mas o foco aqui é sobre a esperança e como ela parece ter desaparecido da ilha. Ao descobrir um automóvel antigo, um Kombi pra ser mais exato, no meio do mato e com um esqueleto dentro, Hugo decide fazer o veículo andar. E pra isso chama todos que quiserem ajudar e acaba ficando apenas com Jim, que nem fé depositara nele, apenas ficou porque não entende o que ele diz. Com o passar do tempo encontram Sawyer que acaba de retornar do abrigo dos “outros” e que mata a saudade a seu modo. Quem mostrara o veículo à Hugo foi Vincent, o cachorro da ilha. Daí temos Jim, Sawyer, Vincent e é claro o idealizador Hugo. Contatado por Jim, Hugo não admite que a Kombi não possa andar e pensa em um jeito de fazer com que ela se mova.

Hugo está impressionado com a falta de esperança que atingiu os novos habitantes da ilha onde pra eles não há mais uma oportunidade de diversão, é apenas correr, fugir, caçar, lutar, brigar, mas nunca diversão. Portanto Hugo não desiste ao primeiro sinal e esquece o que Jim te disse, reza, e reza mais e acaba tendo um sinal. Desse sinal tira uma de suas idéias mais absurdas, descer com a Kombi por um declive enorme quase reto para ver se o carro pega. Volta a ilha e chama Charlie que está mais desolado que nunca e o coloca numa espécie de ultimato onde ou eles morrer no declive ou finalmente ganham na vida, pelo menos uma vez.

Jim e Sawyer não contestam muito e acabam empurrando o carro ladeira abaixo.

O carro não liga. O carro não liga. O carro não liga. O carro não liga. O carro não liga. O carro não liga. O carro não liga. Charlie fica nervoso. O carro não liga. Hugo respira fundo. O carro não liga. Uma pedra enorme os espera. O carro não liga. A pedra está mais próxima. Mais próxima. O carro não liga. Próxima. O carro liga!

A felicidade de Hugo é tão grande que não dá pra mostrar apenas naqueles minutos, mas dar pra sentir. Esse é o triunfo do episódio, retrata o sentimento perfeitamente e nos atinge pelo modo que ele é contado. Hugo vê naquela ligada de motor uma chama que ninguém mais sabia o que era. Uma chama quente ainda. Uma chama que sugou como um imã Jim e Sawyer para dentro da vã, inclusive o cachorro Vincent. E durante alguns poucos minutos, todos aqueles homens ali dentro daquele carro foram felizes. Durante uma fração insignificante do dia aqueles homens souberam que estão vivos por causa de suas esperanças em si mesmos. Por que sempre acreditaram em si. Por aquela pequena fração Hugo soube que fez ao menos três pessoas naquela ilha felizes.

Depois da pequena voltinha na Kombi, todos os homens que sofreram por mais de 60 dias quase que todas as horas, voltam de cabeças mais que erguidas, mas saltitantes. Sorrisos que rasgam seus rostos de uma ponta a outra. Charlie que estava mais triste do que nunca se vira conta a façanha d Hugo a Claire parecendo uma criança contando o seu primeiro gol a sua mãe. Jim sorri por de mais e abraça sua mulher como se nunca mais quisesse soltá-la. Apenas Sawyer que se perde por não ter ninguém a sua espera, e mesmo assim, permanece feliz por ter estado ali, naquele carro sorrindo, ao menos uma vez sem preocupações.

E Hugo? Permanece no carro sorrindo. Satisfeito. Sem pretensão nenhuma, a não ser a de ser feliz por mais que as coisas estejam ruins. Porque o que adianta estar vivo e não ter ao menos uma esperança?

Hurley creates a golf course  and starts a census (I’m starting to love him), Prego (Claire) has a freaky past and is kidnapped by Tom Cruises’ cousin (Ethan?), Sahid finds Frenchy, Charlie is almost hung to death and Kate risks it all for a…um…toy airplane?? Now I know hindsight is 20-20 but if I’m Kate’s mom I’m advising her to stay away from planes of all kinds, they’ll only get you arrested and stuck on deserted islands. I should have known something sinister was afoot when we were ACTUALLY going to get an answer! Jack makes Kate show us what’s in the envelope! For Kate to conspire in holding up a bank it must be…the Kennedy assassination papers?…info on the Roswell landing?…bank account numbers?…family jewelry?? Nope just more questions in the form of a toy airplane. At least Kate tells us/Jack that’s she’s responsible for the death of someone she loves. Finally some info on why Kate is so broken. The writing on this show is clearly top notch and you have to love the subtlety of Sawyer being the one that helps Kate find the suitcase while Jack helps her re-retrieve it (from Sawyer of course), open it and eventually is the the one she confides her secrets to. I still think she’s gonna pick Sawyer.

Now not to burry the lead but The Others kidnapped Prego! I guess I was totally wrong about The Others being the people from the other half of the plane which is bad news for me and Rose who is heart-warningly still holding out hope her husband is still alive (sucker!). Prego’s backstory is my favorite so far. Her clairvoyant psychic (ha get it) either sends her to her death OR sends her to the island. Maybe the psychic knows about The Others and wants them to have the baby. Or maybe The Others are just a creep cult that want to worship the devil baby. Either way can’t the tribe do better than “the trail went cold?” Jack has the right idea, find Frenchy and torture everything she knows about the island and The Others out of her! At least go back to Frenchy’s hideout and see if you can use any of her equipment to get off the island!

And then there’s the hatch (wow a lot of things are going on right now).  What the hell could be in there? The lab where the invisible dinosaur was created?The source of all the crazy magic? Something that I don’t quite understand (and maybe someone can explain it) was how did Locke escape the invisible dino-thing? Or was he being attacked by a boar? I didn’t get it but after he came back he was talking all this “I’ve seen the heart of the island” mumbo-jumbo and I thought maybe he knows something the rest of the tribe doesn’t.  Well I hope it’s how to make TNT because if he wants to open that hatch I think he’s gonna need to blast…

Finally I need to say something about Hurley. He’s the man. It’s about time someone on this island decided to have some fun. Just wait till he discovers Kate and Sawyer’s swimming blue lagoon and starts games of chicken and marco polo (writers please any excuse to see more footage of Sticks in a bathing suit). Conversely I’m hating Michael. He really needs to treat Walt like a person instead of just yelling at him all the time…and not offering his son a chance to golf when it was his turn up…that’s just cold. I’m not sure what’s going on but first you abandon your kid and now you just yell at him all the time. You won’t be receiving the magic island father of the year award anytime soon..

Next up Boone and Locke try to open the hatch and I’m hoping for a spectacular rescue mission for Prego led by Locke. Those guns from Kate’s briefcase just might come in handy…

Another 4 episode clip finished and here’s the recap: Each episode continues to flashback into one characters past, Locke continues to play the part of the colonel and rehabs Charlie, Jack wrestles his demons and wins immunity and control of the tribe, Sun speaks english (finally I predicted something right, too bad I didn’t blog it) and saves Sticks from her breathing problems, Jack goes all Swiss Family Robinson and leads the tribe to the cave sans Kate, Sawyer isn’t even his real name and……Sayid gets hit over the head while trying to triangulate the power source!!

Now I don’t want to brush over all the rest but I need to take a crack of whodunit. Out of all the main characters I *think* only Rose (is she a main char?), Preg0 (what’s her name?) and Locke weren’t accounted for. I believe everyone else was digging out Jack or helping out Sayid in his 4th of July experiment. I’m ruling out Rose because of motive and Prego because she ain’t walking that far which leaves Locke or a yet-to-be-met character. Locke is very suspicious because he does too good of a job convincing Sayid it was Sawyer (even though the audience knows it wasn’t) and I’m not sure he wants to be rescued from what he dubbed “magic island” because unlike at home he has a role and is respected. That being said, I’m going to pin it on a yet-to-be-met character. I think they’ve all landed on magic island for a reason and I think someone is out there conspiring. Which brings me to this point…finally Sayid brings it up, there’s NO WAY the tribe should have survived a plane ripping in half at their altitude and no way they should coincidentally have landed on magic island (unless that’s part of the magic).

So if it’s not already obvious, I’m loving the show (clearly since I’ve ripped off 8 episodes already). No answers have really come so far which is a bit frustrating but let’s face it how many answers can they get after 6 days on a deserted island. Once Jack gets life stable for the tribe I think the first mission should be to explore the island and find the power source. There seems to be only 1 invisible dino-thing so it’s worth the gamble. Finally I need to talk about a couple of the characters. So far I’m loving Kate, Hurley and Locke. I like Jack a lot, Prego’s got some spunk, I’ve got high hopes for Sun and then there’s Sawyer. He’s the character we’re told to hate but hope he redeems himself because he had such a rough life. The Jack-Sawyer-Kate love triangle is going to be interesting but I think Jack’s gonna lose out. Sawyer’s just too damaged bad boy goods for Kate to resist, and unlike Sawyer, Jack won’t do whatever it takes to get with Kate…

Who gets the next character flashback? Unfortunately I think the alarm clock has gone off for the annoying dad but I’d like to see what Sayid is up to…

I’m as bad as my word. My Friday afternoon was spent watching the first disc of season 1 and I’m hooked. What the hell is going on?? Kate is the prisoner…didn’t see that one coming. Locke is/was a cripple with a life dream of hosting his own edition of “Man vs. Wild”…definitely didn’t see that one coming. Until the episode “Walkabout” (bravo job on the naming writers) I thought the colonel was Lost’s version of Creed (although having a 1-900 gal as his love interest does no favors for his creepiness factor). So what sums up my thinking after 4 episodes….um what the hell is going on?? What could Kate have done that caused a $23K bounty on her head? I’m going to go with misunderstanding here because I think she’s good at heart. Why does Jack/Charlie keep seeing a man in a suit? And how is the hobbit going to hold up when he has to go through withdrawal on a deserted island??

So after 4 episodes I think I’ve reached a point to make some predictions. Um I’m thinking the dinosaur thing is invisible?? I also find it very suspicious that the french chick keeps counting up. I don’t think Doc Brown had that voice counting technology in 1988 (2004-16yrs) and I’m assuming she hasn’t been sitting around on the island just counting away for eternity. As far as the french chick goes, she seemed like she knew exactly who she was talking to in that help message which makes me think her and her demised companions went to the island on purpose, or at least she did. I also think Rose’s line about her husband surviving is alluding to these mysterious others I’ve heard about. And on that note, how the hell did anyone survive if the plane got ripped in half at that elevation??

Well one CD down and lots more to go. I’m not sure how the show is going to deal with time so who knows when prego’s gonna pop. So far in 4 episodes we’ve traveled 4 days. At this rate she might give birth by season 2. Not sure how they’ll handle that little kid growing up…

The Cortras brothers accidentally kill the nephew of the crime lord Judah Bathierre. They flee the city of Gomorrah in fear of their lives. The brothers believe they’ll slip Bathierre’s reach if they get into the walled city called Capital. As the Cortras brothers cross the desert they encounter a man wandering the waste alone. The brothers believe him to be the heathen terrorist, Ilu Drystani, and hope to collect the reward for the man’s arrest. The stranger joins the Cortras brothers. He doesn’t tell them about the voice that’s been following him.

Or at least, hand holding cousins. It’s been nice because my sister and I have been able to work out a system that we watch each other’s babies while the other one is working. So, I’ve been hanging out with Kate and Sawyer this week. Fun times. Well, not always I guess. Kudos you you mommies of multiples out there! It’s tiring. Plus, both babies have colds this week and are not at their happiest.
Last night my sister had a girl’s night. She did it last month, and now this month. It’s fun. Just a small group of girls (or women, I guess) getting together. Some are single, some are engaged, some are married and some are married with children. There are several teachers in the bunch, and two of us nurses (which is nice for me). We played games last night, and while I am not usually a game fan, it was fun. I’m glad that I have 2 fantastically fun sisters that like to do stuff like that. I am horribly introverted, and it takes me time to get out and do things, and my sisters often have to push me. Anyway. Since I’ve been at my sister’s, I’ve had access to a computer….which is why we have 3 blog days in a row! How fun!
For now, I better get back to the babies!

Dat zei mijn ex ook altijd. Als je dan toch een vreemdgaander (vreemdganger?) bent, doe het dan ook goed en kom er openlijk voor uit. Zoals hij:

CHRISTIAN SHEPHARD: Padre de Jack. Viajaba muerto dentro de un ataúd en el Oceanic 815 y cuando el avión se estrelló en la isla su cadaver desapareció. Sin embargo, su fantasma ya ha hablado con varios protagonistas adquiriendo un papel cada vez mayor en la trama de la serie. También es padre de Claire, aunque de diferente mujer, y ella nunca lo conoció como tal.

CLAIRE LITTLETON: Hermanastra de Jack sin saberlo. Viajaba en el Oceanic embarazada de Aaron, al que dio a luz en la isla y forma, junto a Charlie, una de las parejas más entrañables de la serie, que se rompe con la muerte del último. Fue raptada por ‘Los Otros’ y perseguida por Rousseau. A día de hoy se desconoce su paradero, aunque sabemos que se encuentra con Christian y eso da seguridad.

CHARLIE PACE: Miembro de ‘Drive shafts’, una banda de rock en decadencia. Llega a la isla siendo un drogadicto y Locke le ayuda a dejar las drogas. Se enamora de Claire y forman una ‘familia’ con Aaron. Protagonista principal en las primeras temporadas que, junto a Hugo, son ‘la sonrisa’ del espectador. Muere por amor y amistad. Un ejemplo a seguir.

AARON LITTLETON: Hijo de Claire al que Charlie apadrina como un hijo. De los únicos que nació en la isla. Actualmente está en tierra firme pues Kate, que fue como una madre adoptiva para él durante un tiempo, lo dejó allí cuando volvió de la isla.

HUGO ‘HURLEY’ REYES: Mantiene el ‘buen rollo’ entre los supervivientes del Oceanic 815; es el personaje cómico de la serie. Ganó la lotería con unos ‘números malditos’ (4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42) que se repetirán a lo largo de las temporadas, lo que da un suspense bastante interesante. Estuvo internado en varias ocasiones en manicomios por tener visiones de gente que ha muerto y es perseguido por la policía por los secretos que guardaron al abandonar la isla. Actualmente se encuentra en la isla y, aunque durante poco tiempo, trabajó en la Iniciativa Dharma.

MICHAEL DAWSON: Superviviente del Oceanic que llega a la isla con su hijo Walt, al que apenas conoce por haber estado éste con su madre. Construye una balsa para sacar a Walt de la isla y Los Otros se lo roban. Para recuperarlo, se convierte en un traidor al asesinar a dos compañeros para salvar a Ben, líder de Los Otros. Regresa a su casa y, tras intentar suicidarse en varias ocasiones, vuelve a la isla “para morir” ayudando a los supervivientes en un barco que manda Charles Widmore.

WALT DAWSON: Hijo de Michael. Llega a la isla e intima mucho con Locke, algo que no gusta a su padre. Siempre inseparable de su perro Vincent, los flashbacks demuestran que tiene poderes antinaturales. Sabe que su padre asesinó a dos supervivientes y por eso deja de hablarle. En estos momentos se encuentra fuera de la isla, aunque en un capítulo se le aparece a Locke para darle fuerzas a continuar con su trabajo.

SAYID JARRAH: Torturador que trabajó en la milicia iraquí y llega a la isla siendo un experto con los aparatos electrónicos. Al salir de la isla acaba trabajando para Ben como sicario tras enterrar a la mujer de sus sueños por culpa de los enemigos de éste, los hombres de Charles Widmore. Otro que ha dado, está dando y dará mucho juego a la serie.

JIN SOO KWON: Pescador coreano, esposo de Sun y sicario del padre de ésta. En un principio no sabe hablar inglés lo que le da problemas con los supervivientes del 815 pero acaba aprendiendo a la perfección. Parece que muere en el barco que los va a salvar pero finalmente acaba viajando en el tiempo con Sawyer y los otros donde conoce a Rousseau de joven. Ahora está trabajando en la Iniciativa Dharma.

SUN HWA KWON: Mujer de Jin e hija de un empresario coreano multimillonario, que no acepta su relación hasta que Jin trabaja como sicario para él. Al principio es reprimida en la isla por su marido pero poco a poco las cosas se calman, aunque en los flashbacks veamos que lo ha engañado con otro hombre. Se queda embarazada en la isla pero da a luz en Corea, cuando es una de ‘Los Oceanic Six’ que habían salido. Está enfrentada con Ben por pensar que había matado a su marido y cuando éste le dice que no está muerto, ella vuelve a la isla.

DESMOND HUME: Llega a la isla antes que los supervivientes y se pasa tres años de su vida pulsando un botón para ‘salvar el mundo’. Es la pareja de Penny, hija de Widmore, quién cree que no se merece a su única descendiente aunque la relación entre ambos sea envidiable -sobre todo por esa preciosa conversación que tienen tras tres años sin verse-. Antes de que Charlie muera, tiene una compenetración especial con éste al salvarle la vida en varias ocasiones por visualizar el futuro. Otro que tiene mucho que dar a la serie.

PENNY WIDMORE: Hija de Charles, hermanastra de Faraday y pareja de Desmond, lo que la convierte también en un personaje importante. Enfrentada con su padre, busca a ‘Des’ alrededor del mundo durante tres años hasta hallarlo vivo y rescatarlo, junto a otros supervivientes, en un barco que iba en su búsqueda. Éste es el momento cuándo Penny y Desmond se conocen por primera vez.

DANIELLE ROUSSEAU: Superviviente francesa de otro naufragio anterior al Oceanic, el de ‘La Roca Negra’. Estuvo durante 16 años viviendo en la isla escapando de ‘Los Otros’, quienes le robaron a su hija Alex, y evitando cruzárselos en su camino. Deja un mensaje en la torre de radio que se repetirá todos esos años y por ello los supervivientes descubren su existencia. Intenta llevarse a Aaron de las manos de Claire. La conocimos de joven cuando su barco llegó a la isla. Los hombres de Widmore acaban asesinándola cuando intentaba proteger a su hija y al novio de ésta.

ALEX ¿LINUS? ROUSSEAU: Hija de Rousseau y robada por Ben, a quién ella conoce como padre. Un lío, vamos. Vivió toda su vida en la isla con ‘Los Otros’ hasta que conoce a su madre y a los supervivientes del Oceanic 815. La acaban matando en los ojos de su padrastro Ben, que la deja morir. Aquí lo vemos.

JULIET BURKE: Médica especializada en reproducción, es reclutada por Richard para conseguir hacer nacer a niños en la isla, que hasta ese momento es imposible por un error electromagnético que ya explicaré más adelante. Se convierte en una de ‘Los Otros’ durante tres años hasta que se escapa con los supervivientes por medio de Jack, con el que parece que va a iniciar una relación. Finalmente, y tras quedarse en la isla mientras Jack y los demás se van, se convierte en la pareja de Sawyer en 1977 cuando están con la Iniciativa Dharma y acaban viviendo juntos. Con la vuelta de Kate, peligra su relación.

RICHARD ALPERT: Interesante y muy importante personaje que conocemos en diferentes épocas y siempre está con el mismo aspecto físico, es decir, nunca envejece. Es uno ‘Los Otros’ y, aunque nunca ejerce como líder, siempre es un fiel consejero de todos ellos para comunicarse con Jacob y también para traer a gente que ellos necesitan a la isla, como Juliet. Le salva la vida a Ben y está en muchos momentos con John Locke.

DANIEL FARADAY: Físico y profesor que se lanzó a la isla en paracaídas (a los primeros que encontró fue a Jack y a Kate: de ahí la famosa frase entre los Losties de ‘Are you Jack’?) desde un helicóptero que venía del barco de Widmore. Era hijo de Eloise y de Charles Widmore, pero de éste sólo lo supimos al final, por lo que es hermanastro de Penny. Es uno de los protagonistas y es muy entrañable por su actitud distraída, sus buenas maneras y su interés científico por las misteriosas propiedades de la Isla. Se pasó toda su vida adulta estudiando el espacio-tiempo y su constante es Desmond porque se le apareció del futuro. Era muy cariñoso con su amiga Charlotte, de la que estaba enamorada y la vió morir en sus manos por los continuos flashes y viajes en el tiempo.Cuando acude armado al campamento de ‘Los Otros’ para buscar a su madre en 1977, ésta lo mata sin saber que era su hijo.

“Sufferers’ Land.”
The “Firelands.”
These evocative and descriptive phrases refer to a region in Northern Ohio set aside by the state of Connecticut for “Sufferers” who were burned out of their homes by the British in the Revolution. Part of the Western Reserve, it covers present-day Huron and Erie counties.
After the War of 1812, a flood of emigration erupted out of crowded New England, the result of a pent up desire for new land that had been held in check by the threat of Native Americans defending their homes and the spur of economic hardship engendered by the catastrophic “Year without Summer” of 1816. Most of these pioneers were bound for the Firelands.
Thus began one of the great migrations of American history; a flood of humanity that poured out of New England and settled lands stretching along the southern shores of the Great Lakes from upstate New York to Illinois and across the Mississippi River into Iowa.
These settlers greatly impacted the history of the United States. In the 1850’s, some of them entered Kansas and clashed with the leading edge of another great migration that had settled the South — a tragic foreshadowing of the Civil War. The grandchildren of the settlers of the Old Northwest formed the backbone of the Union Army of the West during that war and made possible the Republican majority that ruled the nation the remainder of the century.

The Sufferers’ Land is a history of the settlement of the Firelands from the founding of the town of Norwalk in 1817 by Platt Benedict to the final Pioneers Reunion and founding of The Firelands Historical Society in 1857. 2. A genealogy of families who settled in the Firelands is also included on this website. 3. Little Doctor on the Black Horse is the story of Doctor David DeForest Benedict of Norwalk, Ohio, a Union Surgeon during the Civil War. Politics

There is never a dull day in politics. I mean today you’re in; tomorrow you’re out with the possibility of getting in again. Just a few days ago republicans were celebrating their wins in the governor races, last night they lost the bid in reforming health care. This is a win for Obama and I’m sure he rested well on Saturday night. The fight isn’t over as yet though. The bill goes for a fight in the Senate and then we will see what becomes of the unread bill. I didn’t believe the bill would have been passed but congratulations for to the Democratic Party and to Nancy Pelosi for bringing on the fight.

I did not see the news coverage on the vote in its entirety but I certainly heard the cheers from the Democratic supporters who have wanted this for a long time. It may be good timing and it may a political disaster for politicians.

I am not going to fight the bill this week just to say that politicians owe it to their constituents to read the bill in its entirety. The lies that were told about this bill were outrageous. We cannot even trust news agencies anymore to provide the factual details on the bill. Moving on I only hope the truth about this bill, its effects on taxpayers will be told.

Below are videos that show the 20/20 interview by Sawyer. This interview was intimate, damning for Chris Brown, and it made Rihanna look amazing. From a PR point of view, this is what you want to accomplish in an interview like this. This interview outclasses the Oprah, Whitney Houston interview by far – made it look like a joke. This will give Rihanna the comeback she deserves from the battering Brown gave her on that night. It also makes Brown look bad, with his career in limbo.
