All episodes complete! 42 agonizing days until the Lost Season 6 premier, and like you I am completely lost.

Now that was one hell of a finale. Lost fans what did you do on your summer vacation? “Um we argued back and forth if the timeline of the show was reset when Juliet blew up the nuke”. I have a very strong opinion on what happened (surprised?) but I’m hoping to hear all your theories since you can now comment without fear of spoiling me. But first the recap:

We see Jacob & an unknown “friend” (being called nemesis in some circles) enjoying a typical 1800s day by the fully erect statue by the beach. There is a boat on the horizon (presumable the Black Rock) and Nemesis asks Jacob why he brought the boat to the island when people always end up fighting and killing each other. Jacob says until the final end everything is progress. Nemesis remarks that he will someday find a loophole and kill Jacob. Next we see flashbacks of almost every significant Lostie and how Jacob interacted with all of them at some point. Jacob payed for the lunchbox kid-Kate stole, lent Sawyer the pen he used to write the letter to Sawyer, prevented Sayid from being hit by the car that killed Nadia, brought Locke back to life after his father pushed him out that window, congratulated Jin & Sun at their wedding, picked up Hurley outside the police station and convinced him to get on AA Flight 316 and left him a guitar case, and finally visited Boobie-Fett in the hospital and asked her to do him a favor. Interestingly enough, Jacob was not in the flashback where Juliet found out her parents were getting a divorce. Back on the present day island Locke tells Richard to take all The Others to see Jacob and tells Other Ben he has to kill Jacob. Other Ben agrees because Dead SlingShot (Alex) told him to do everything Locke said and because he feels slighted that Jacob never met him in all his years as leader of the Others. We find out Jacob lives at the bottom of the four-toed statue (what lies in the shadow of the statue…the one that can save us…apparently Jacob) and Other Ben and Locke going in for a quality time visit. While Locke and Other Ben are in the statue it it is revealed that Boobie-Fett and her pals were carrying around real-Locke’s body the whole time, making everyone wonder who is in the statue with Other Ben! Cut to inside the statue, Jacob congratulates fake-Locke on finding a loop hole thus revealing him to be Nemesis. Nemesis’ plan works and Other Ben kills Jacob and for just for giggles, Nemesis kicks Jacob’s body into the fire.

Back in 1977, Kate, SawFleur & Juliet break out of the sub and go back to stop Jack (they also run into Rose, White Bernard & Vincent who have been living happily ever after for the last 3 years). Juliet changes her mind several times but eventually decides the right thing to do is to help Jack reset the future by blowing up the atom bomb down the chamber of the unbuilt hatch. Sayid who was likely given a fatal gun wound from an earlier gun fight, sets the atom bomb to detonate on impact. Ghostbuster then wisely asks the question: “How do you know blowing up the nuke isn’t the incident??” No one has an answer for him and they decide to blow up the nuke anyway. There is a big gun fight but the Losties win and Jack throws the nuke down the hatch hole but nothing happens. Meanwhile the drill hits the pocket of energy and everything metal begins to be pulled towards the pocket of energy. Juliet gets tangled in a chain and in a heartbreaking moment Sawyer loses her hand and she is pulled down to the bottom of the hatch hole. Juliet wakes up badly injuried at the bottom of the hatch hole and sees the nuke is still intact. Using a rock next to her, she slams the nuke 8 times and it explodes and we get LOST WHITE-screened. End of season. AHHHHH!

I am sure time is reset. It has to be. There is no way the writers would tease us with the possibility of a reset and then not give it to us. Based on the name of the first episode in season 6 plus the fact that everyone and Aaron’s mom is on the season 6 promo cover (welcome back Boone, Sticks, Mr. Eko), I believe 815 is landing in LAX. The question is how do the events of the island converge with the new present? The past 5 seasons can’t all be for nothing, that would be horrible! The writers would have a revolution on their hands! We’d take to the streets, shoot fire arrows at the writers and send the black smoke monster at ABC! It’s possible the nuke was “the incident” all along and somehow that flashes forward all the Losties into the present where life is happy for everyone, but I just don’t see it. Obviously everything would change if 815 lands safely in LAX starting with the passengers not knowing each other. Here are a few other not so obvious changes in history:

Jacob is alive. If 815 never crashes, Nemesis’ plan can never use Locke. I bet that’ll piss off Nemesis

What will Desmond do with himself on the island? If the hatch is never built, how does Desmond occupy himself? Does he become an Other or is he killed by The Others? He also won’t meet Faraday in Oxford and who knows what the consequences for that are.

Ethan is never born. Sawyer saves his mother in the future. Also who knows all the consequences that will occur from the Losties not traveling back in time!

Other Ben might die from his back tumor. On one hand Jack won’t be on the island to save him (neither will Ethan), but on the other hand if the hatch doesn’t blow up then the electrocal systems on the island will be intact meaning Other Ben can leave the island on the sub Locke will never blow up to see a real doctor

Desmond will never tell Penny to call him on christmas eve.

The freighter may never find the island. I think the 815 crash gave Widmore a good guess on the island’ location and without the crash, he might not have been able to find it.

And there are the obvious consequences. The bad: Sawyer is still a conman, Rose, Locke & Faraday will continue to have their physical ailments, Prego (Claire) gives up her baby, Charlie remains an addict, Jin is still a bad person and Michael is alive. But there is some good: all the passengers will survive, Sayid will be reunited with Nadia and Indiana will live because they probably never find the island. Like Sawyer, I was voting for Jack NOT to blow the nuke. Tear.

Now my theory can totally be shot to hell because in someways it doesn’t make sense. IF the Losties never crash on the island then the nuke is probably never contained and it’s certainly never blown up near the hatch which means time can’t be reset!!! Ahh paradox!!! This is and endless loop and can’t be explained and is the best evidence that time will not reset. I wonder how the writers will respond. It’s also worth mentioning that just because the hatch doesn’t rip flight 815 in-half doesn’t mean the plane won’t have electrical problems and crash land on the island just like AA 316. In fact this is the most likely scenario.

With all the other topics going on, I’ve avoided Jacob & Nemesis. I doubt I am alone in thinking that Nemesis IS the black smoke and it can take on the appearance of any dead person on the island. Since it hates humans, black smoke seems to enjoy killing them after judging them (it judged Mr. Eko the same way it judged Other Ben). I also think Jacob & Nemesis are aliens who somehow got punished and are placed on the island which is serving as a prison. Nemesis blames Jacob for the imprisonment and that’s why he wants to kill him. Makes sense to me…

Finally, I need to talk about Juliet & Sawyer. I loved them as a couple and was heartbroken when she let go of Sawyer’s hand. You really felt Sawyer’s pain in that scene. Even before that scene I was pissed at Juliet for giving up on Sawyer just because he looked at Kate. Let it go!! Kate ain’t all that and you’re almost as hott and you’re way more together. Juliet, you disappointed me…

Next up on Finally Lost…I’ll recap season 5 and formally list my Season 6 predictions. I know many of you have been reluctant to comment on the blog for fear of dropping spoilers (thank you for this, and amazingly enough nothing was spoiled!) but I’d like to hear your thoughts and theories on the upcoming series. What’s going to happen??

Completed: 5-12 Dead Is Dead, 5-13 Some Like it Hoth, 5-14 The Variable, 5-15 Follow the Leader. Only the Lost Season 5 finale left and I’ll be as Lost as the rest of you. Sadly we will have to wait 45 days until the Lost Season 6 premier.

Another 4 episode clip thanks to a northeastern snow storm. Apparently Daniel Faraday’s mother is as cold as the temperature outside because she sent her son to the island to die. The Variable is up there as one of my favorite episodes of the season with LaFleur with it’s great ending, multiple revelations and heartwarming scene with Charlotte. To the recap. We start out with some Other Ben history, where we seem him steal Slingshot (Alex) as a baby and exile one time Other Leader, Charles Widmore from the island. Cut to present day where Other Ben and Locke have made it to barracks and find Swoop (Frank) & Sun there. Sun shows the class of 77 Dharma photo to Other Ben and he actually looks shocked and clueless. Other Ben then calls the smoke monster but when he doesn’t answer, Locke & Other Ben go to its cave. Inside Other Ben is enveloped by the smoke and relives bad memories involving Slingshot. Slingshot then appears to him and tells him to stop trying to kill Locke and listen to whatever he says. Interesting note from that episode: when Swoop returns from camp he is tied up by Boobie Fett & some guy when he can’t answer “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” That same guy pulled Miles into their van and told him to work with them and they would tell him how he got his power and everything he wanted to know about his dad. During the Ghostbuster flashback we see his mother telling him that his father left them and never cared for them before he is recruited by Widmore. Then we get a Mr. Wizard’s Daniel Faraday) flashback. Faraday was told never to play the piano, was pushed to become a brilliant physicist and his experiments turned him and his girlfriend into a vegetable until Mr. Widmore recruits him for the expedition where the island heals him. In 77 Mr. Wizard tells Jack that they can in fact change the future by preventing the incident we’ve heard about with the buried thermonuclear bomb. Jack, Mr. Wizard and Kate go off to find Momma Wizard who it turns out is the Other that Faraday told to burry the bomb in the 50s and is now shacking up with Leader Widmore, Faraday’s father! After an argument with SawFleur and a gun fight with the initiative, the 3 find Peter Pan (Richard) and Mr. Wizard holds a gun to his head demanding to talk to Eloise Hawking. Eloise shows up and kills Faraday. With his dying breath he tells her she is his mother and she knew she was sending him to his death. Big Tear. Jack and Kate then convince her that they too are from the future and can fix her mistake by carrying out Faraday’s plan. They are joined by Richard and go to the tunnels to find the nuke. Before they get there, Kate bails because she doesn’t want to prevent the crash from happening but they are joined by Sayid who is happy to help. Cut to the Dharma initiaive and we see SawFleur & Juliet being tortured by Radzinski for info on Kate & The Others (boy-Ben still hasn’t been found). SawFleur agrees to draw a map to the camp in exchange for him and Juliet allowed access to the departing sub and are eventually joined by a captured Kate on the sub. Cut to Hurley, Miles & Jin who are trying to escape but are found by Dr. Chang. Chang wants to know if Faraday told him the truth about the incident and about Miles being his son. Once they confirm, Chang orders all nonessential personnel onto the sub and Miles sees his father cast off Younger Miles & his mother for their protection. Finally we see Locke, Richard & Other Ben reunited. First Locke tells Richard to fix the bullet wound that the second Locke that is white flashing around is suffering from. Once this is finished, Locke announces to all of The Others that Richard will be taking themto see Jacob but he only confides in Other Ben that he is going to kill Jacob. Lost-blackscreened.

One more episode and I will be as lost as you! I thought that after 5 seasons I would have so many more answers but I’ll take what I can get. First things first, how are SawFleur, Juliet & Kate going to get back on the island for the finale? It looks like they are well on their way home on that sub and we know the sub reaches shore because Miles & his mother make it there. If the rest of the Losties flash forward to the correct time, will they? And speaking of flashing forward, what the hell is Jack doing? It’s an interesting philosophical question. Would you completely change the last 3 years of your life including never meeting someone you love, to save 300 people you don’t really know? Kate wouldn’t but Jack and Sayid would. I understand why Sayid would because Nadia would be alive but what difference does it make for Jack? He’s miserable either way. P.S. I hate Jack. I know Sawyer & Kate sure don’t want to change things because Kate beat Johnny law and Sawyer has become a great person and found a great love. Desmond might be pissed that he’s back stuck on the island and his child isn’t born. Dammit Jack, don’t you ever think? And speaking of Penny, we find out she & Desmond are OK (whew!) It’s very interesting that Other Ben wouldn’t kill her once her saw little Charlie. When Other Ben and Charles Widmore are on screen together you get the sense that Other Ben is so much more of a better person than Charles (killing little Alex, I’m looking at you) which is saying something since Other Ben is a mass murder and pathological liar.

And we have some new mysteries:

We have the Widmore camp & the Other Ben camp. Where does the shadow of the statue camp fall in? I figured Boobie Fett was more than just a bounty hunter but who is this third side and what IS in the shadow of the statue? Speaking of the statue, it was really cool when we got to see the whole thing in the past, I wonder when it got knocked down. May be the 3rd team are the old skool Egyptian people that put all they hieroglyphics on the temple

If dead is dead then Locke isn’t alive and is more like Christian Shepard. I assume Christian is Jacob and Jacob can take on any form he wants to and is somehow appointed island guarder. Maybe the black smoke monster is just one his best defense systems. Not sure what the whispers are but Other Ben is because he told Frenchy (Danielle) that if she wants to stay alive she should avoid them

We never found out if Daniel changed the future! He said he was never going to talk to Charlotte but he did. However we never found out if he told her to not come back or else it would mean her death. If he doesn’t say it then we know he can change the future

Sawyer telling Juliet that they will invest is Microsoft and bet on the 78 cowboys was genius. I’m sorry they have to leave their great life and now I’m rooting for them to live happily ever after. Sadly Juliet is a candidate to die in the finale because a few people have to. It’s time for Miles to die as well

It was hilarious that Hurley was re-writing Empire Trikes Back and he got to see the numbers put on the hatch.

Next up on Finally Lost…Season 5 finale. I heard the last minute is a mind fuck. Will we finally learn who’s been pulling the strings? Maybe it’s Locke, or Mama Wizard. The safe money is on Other Ben…

Completed: 5-8 LaFleur, 5-9 Namaste, 5-10 He’s Our You, 5-11 Whatever Happened, Happened. 6 ep

Completed: 5-8 LaFleur, 5-9 Namaste, 5-10 He’s Our You, 5-11 Whatever Happened, Happened. 6 episodes left to go, & 45 days till the Lost Season 6 premier. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

WOW. My mind is still buzzing from these 4 episodes. I was trying to only watch 2 at a time but how the hell was I supposed to stop when this changes EVERYTHING. Cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria!! Recap: Sawyer, Juliet, Ghostbuster (Miles), Mr. Wizard (Daniel) & Jin are left in the 70s after Locke fixes the ice wheel. They kill a couple Others that were about to execute a Dharma lady (Ethan’s Mom!) and Sawyer goes all Bill Clinton and keeps the Dharma/Others truce alive by telling Peter Pan (Richard) that he is from the future and not a part of Dharma. The 5 then decide to live among the Dharma initiative until Locke brings the O6 back. The O6 of course don’t come back for 3 years and by that time Sawyer is known as LaFleur, the trusted head of security and live-in boyfriend of Juliet, who is playing a mechanic. A fully english speaking Jin finds the O3 (Jack, Kate & Hurley) and LaFleur comes up with a plan to have them work among the initiative. The plan gets more complicated when Sayid appears near a station where Radzinski (remember Dez & Army guy talked about him??) is designing the Swan. SawFleur takes him prisoner and offers him a way to live among the initiative as an Other defector but Sayid declines and is given LSD-truth-serum which makes him tells the initiative he is from the future and has been on the island before. We also get a good old fashion flashback and find out that after killing enough people, Other Ben terminated Sayid as hitman extraordinaire only to re-recruit him to spring Hurley free. After Sayid left the O6 arguing at the dock, he was seduced at captured by some hott bounty hunter (Boobie-Fett) who was hired by the family of the guy he killed on the golf course and uses AA Flight 316 to get him to said justice-seeking family. Now while in Dharma Jail, Sayid was getting frequent food visits from boy-Ben, who kept asking Sayid to take him to The Others. Sayid, now convince he was put back on the island to kill Other Ben as a boy, uses this affection to break out of prison, shoot boy-Ben and escape. Even though they know who he will become, Kate, SawFleur & Juliet all try to convince Jack to save boy-Ben but Jack refuses. Juliet then covers for Kate & SawFleur as they bring him to the only people on the island that can help boy-Ben…The Others. On the way there we find out Kate & Cassidy (Sawyer’s baby’s mama) become close friends and Cassidy knows everything about the island. We also see Kate tell Prego’s (Claire) Mom the truth about everything and Kate leaves Aaron with her to go back to the island to find Prego. Once SawFleur & Kate find Peter Pan, he agrees to help boy-Ben but warns them that he will lose his innocence and will now always be an Other. Finally, back at the crash site, Sun goes off with Other Ben to find a boat to get back to the main island to find Jin. After Swoop (Frank) finds them, Sun knocks out Other Ben and the two paddle to the main island. Other Ben however, wakes up in a hospital bed with a headache and a very much alive John Locke standing over him. Locke welcomes him “to the living” and we are LOST-black screened.

As I said before this changes everything. Before I comment on things I have to comment about whether or not the future can be changed. If Miles & Mr. Wizard are correct and what happened, happened, then Other Ben could never have killed Sawyer, Kate or Jack while they were imprisoned by The Others. Time wouldn’t let him. If you CAN change the future then he was no doubt going out of his way to make sure they didn’t die (assuming he at least remembered Sawyer, Juliet & Miles). For the sake of this entry I’ll assume you can’t change the future. This must mean the island wanted the O6 back so badly because it HAD to happen for the events that already took place to again take place (damn time travel is hard to write about). It’s a serious mind fuck to think that Richard (and to some extent Other Ben) knew all about the Losties before Oceanic Flight 815 even crashed on the island. It also starts to explain the connections between the Losties. They were predestined to meet and be on that flight together because it had already happened before it happened. It’s amazing to think that these people had no idea how much they were steeped in the Dharma history when they first found the hatch and the other stations. They no doubt even caused the incident! (Full disclosure, I noticed the last episode is called The Incident). It’s going to take a complete series re-watch to really digest all the implications of this.

I need to compare the Dharma Losties’ 3 years with the off-island Losties’ 3 years. The Dharma Losties had a much better time of it and are much more likable than their off-island counterparts. SawFleur is the man! I didn’t think I could like Sawyer more than already I did but watching him finally become the leader he was always supposed to be was very cool. As I previously posted, I was already liking Juliet more and more, (I even dropped the Ice Princess nickname) and I love them as a couple. Kate on the other hand is damaged goods and keeps too many secrets; there’s no reason for SawFleur to worry about her. Even Miles is pretty cool now. As with any scene that involves Hurley, the time discussion scene was hilarious. A note on when they questioned why Other Ben recognize didn’t recognize Sayid when he tortured him in the hatch. At first I thought they were pretty stupid not to assume Other Ben was simply pretending not to recognize him, but we learn from Pan that boy-Ben won’t remember anything about getting shot. And then there’s Jack. I hate Jack. Hate. I loved when SawFleur gave him the business on how Jack never thought as a leader and how SawFleur is a man of thought. It’s an interesting inditement on doctors but I would imagine a conman would have to be much more of a strategic thinker than a surgeon. SawFleur however, could not stop Jack from making his usual enormous mistake. By not operating on boy-Ben, Jack created Other Ben. It’s Jack’s fault that boy-Ben was healed by The Others and he lost his innocence (whatever the hell that means). And lastly, I love how Juliet tore into Jack by telling him what I’ve been saying all along…they didn’t need saving! You only went back because you got conned by Other Ben & Locke.

Next up on Finally Lost…maybe Locke will slap around Other Ben. I’d also like to know why Sun was the only of the O6 to not white flash back in time.

p.s. While Ben lied about being born on the island, ironically Ethan had lived on the island his whole life. If mothers could once bear children on the island, then what changed? Maybe the gas? And why didn’t Other Ben give this data point to Juliet since she was trying to solve this problem??

p.s. 2 Did Rose & White Bernard die? Are we just supposed to assume everyone on 815 died? That’s kinda sad and I wished they would have gotten a screen death to confirm

Completed: 5-1 Because You Left, 5-2 The Lie, 5-3, Jughead. 14 episodes left, 48 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

Welcome back Lost! After 3 episodes of the new season I got more answers then I have questions which is a first. Let’s start with the recap: The season starts with our favorite Dharma asian orientation star being pulled away from filming to look at the frozen wheel in the Orchid station. On the way there we are intrigued because he passes Mr. Wizard (Daniel the physicist…Sawyer gave him this great nickname and I’m sticking to it). Next we see the Losties on the beach and they are miffed why their camp disappeared after the white flash of light appeared. According to Mr. Wizard (who stayed with the island because his boat was in the radius..check!) the Losties on the island are moving back and forth through time every time the white light shows up and they don’t know when it will show up next or when it will stop. Fearing he will need a constant, Mr. Wizard knocks on the hatch where Desmond is still a resident of (they flashed to 2001ish) and tells him to find his mother at Oxford and then flashes to the 1950s with the rest of the Losties. Once in the 1950s the Losties are attacked by Dharma folks who mistaken them for The Others and then attacked by The Others who mistaken them for Dharma folks. Sawyer and the Ice Princess (Juliet) try to escape but are captured by The Others. Locke shows up and rescues them but not before he got shot by Ethan in 2001ish and not before receiving medical attention, a compass and advice (you must bring the O6 back to the island by being dead) from Peter Pan (Richard) in present. As part of the rescue effort Locke captures 2 of The Others, one of whom turns out to be Charles Widmore. Widmore kills his partner before he can give Locke any info, but Locke lets Widmore go so he can follow him back to Peter Pan and The Others. Locke then goes to Peter Pan and gives him the compass that present-day Peter Pan gave him to prove his time travel story. Unfortunately, before Locke can find out how to get off the island from Pan, he white flashes off to another time. During the same time in the 50s, Mr. Wizard, who was also captured by The Others, was using his physicist skills to show The Others how to stop a leaking Hydrogen Bomb that the American’s were trying to detonate on the island. He tells The Others that burying the bomb will work because in 50 years the island is still standing and then he white flashes with Locke and the rest of the Losties.

Off the island we watch the O6 decide to lie about their entire experience to the world despite Hurley’s concerns. Flash to the future and Other Ben explains to Jack, in front of Locke’s coffin, that they must get all of the O6 back on the island as soon as possible. Jack laments at how hard that will be but Other Ben tells him to suck it up, makes him shave his ugly beard and flushes his pills down the toilet. Meanwhile Sayid kills one of Widmore’s guards at the Santa Rosa Mental Home and tells Hurley he is being watch and needs to go to a safe place. After checkmating Mr. Eko in their game of chess, Hurley and Sayid go to the not-so-safe house where Sayid increases his body count but takes a knockout dart in the neck. After a visit with his Dad, Hurley calls Jack so he can fix up Sayid but Hurley stays at his house where Other Ben shows up to recruit him. Instead of following Other Ben, Hurley gives himself up to the police outside his house who think he is responsible for Sayid’s kill count. Cut to Kate being visited by lawyers who want her to take a DNA test to prove she’s related to Aaron. Cut to Desmond who wakes up with a new memory of Mr. Wizard telling him to find his mother. Desmond tries to find Mr Wizard’s mom but only finds some cracked-out patient Mr. Wizard screwed up and whose bills are being paid for by…Mr. Widmore! Dez goes to Widmore to get Mama Mr. Wizard’s address but coldly doesn’t answer one question to a concerned dad who hasn’t heard from his daughter in 3 years (nor has he met his grandchild Charlie!) Cut to Other Ben talking to the lady from to some lady in a church. After doing some crazy equations Shady Time Lady informs Other Ben that they have 70 hours to get all of the O6 back to the island or it will be the end of the world…dun dun dun.

First the things that make sense. We know why Peter Pan was at Locke’s birth and why he asked him which objects were already his! This means Pan knew all about Locke since the 50s so who knows how that affected his decisions since. It also looks like I was right about Widmore being on the island before. I still think I’m right that the island was moved to hide it from him which is why he had such a hard time finding it again. I wonder who turned the ice wheel of banishment last time? Penny & Desmond got to live happily ever after for 3 years and have a son named Charlie. Would she be named after Charles Widmore who kept them apart, or the Charlie Pace that brought them together? I’ll go with Pace. And finally I totally agree with Hurley, lying made no sense!! How are you protecting the Losties from Mr. Widmore when he already knows the truth?? Stupid Jack.

Now the things I don’t understand. Why are only the Losties moving through time? Why isn’t everyone that was on the island at the time of the white light quantum leaping?? Mr. Wizard says you can’t change time but didn’t he change time when he talked to Desmond? Isn’t that why Dez woke up with that new memory? Jack asked Other Ben if Locke was really dead, might he be alive? Maybe Locke took something that makes it seem like you’re dead, but he’ll eventually wake back up (why do I keep trying to find back doors for all the dead main characters?) What is Sun’s end goal? Is it just revenge on Jack and Other Ben? It might be hard to convince her to go back to the island if she’s just after revenge. Why does Hurley keep seeing dead magic islanders? The scene where he was playing chess with Mr. Eko was classic! And finally…if the O6 do get back to the island it might be weird that 3 years has passed for them but only a few days/weeks have passed for the left behind Losties. And speaking of the left behind Losties, between the Robin Hood Fire Arrows and the ambush at the creek, are there any Losties still alive?? Not a good start to Sawyer’s term as leader of the Losties…

Next up on Finally Lost…If there is one man who can get the O6 to magic island in 70 hours, it’s Other Ben…

p.s. Is it just me or are there way too many things going on? That was a record long recap! I know some people like the recaps because it helps them remember things but are they getting too long?

The Spoiler Free Season 5

As promised here are the poll results, my Season 4 prediction results, the list of my favorite season 4 episodes and of course my new Lost Season 5 predictions. All in all Lost Season 4 was another great season. People keep asking me which season is my favorite and I keep telling them it’s too difficult to differentiate between all the different seasons (too many at once). Gun to my head I would say Lost Season 3 is my favorite and the worst part of Lost Season 4 was that it was so short due to the strike. I am very aware that the episodes I have left are quickly running out and I have been trying to watch them at a slower pace because I don’t want them to end.

Now for the poll results: 50-50, we had a tie! Much like the Losties, half of you would have followed Locke into the woods to your eventual death (unless you think of yourself as Sawyer, Hurley or Prego) while the other half of you would be safe at the beach. The ironic thing is that Locke was right but he led his people right into danger, while Jack was wrong (*cough* as usual) but kept most of his people safe (except for those who were blown up on the freighter). I think this teaches us to follow the leader who is more concerned with your safety than the safety of a mysterious island that often demands sacrifices.

And now for the Season 4 results, I think I did pretty good:

The Jack Shepard school of predictions (WRONG):

The 4th season will be all about the island. Why it’s so magical and how it got its properties. What the hell was I thinking?? I’m starting to believe we won’t ever learn this

In the future flash Kate is returning home to someone we haven’t met yet. Some big bad rich guy type. Who else could have gotten her out of all her legal troubles, Maybe Mr. Widmore?? Arg! Of course Jack’s plan got her out of trouble and she was going home to Aaron. Really missed the mark on that one

The John Locke school of predictions (CHECK):

Locke is in the coffin. Nailed it! I lose some points for waffling all season and saying it might be Other Ben after all.

Time travel is going to be huge. This was a better prediction when I made it in season 3, than when I reiterated right before season 4. There also seems to be more of a space/time thing going on so I don’t know if that affects the purity of this prediction.

The survivors will leave the island at the cliff hanger of season 4. Other Ben isn’t lying, the bad guys are coming. I think both of these were pretty obvious but I’ll take credit none-the-less.

The Ben Linus school of grey predictions (Half credit):

The big 5 (Jack, Sawyer, Kate, Locke & Sayid) will not die this season and I believe all 5 will make it to season 6 (I think the coffin future is avoidable). I also think that there is NO WAY Prego (Claire) or Hurley can die. The writers won’t kill the most beloved happy-go-lucky character and they won’t kill a single mom and leave devil baby (Aaron) an orphan. Wow this prediction came out interesting. The coffin future does not appear to be avoidable and I don’t know if Locke’s death counts as a Season 4 death or not. Thoughts? The writers did in fact have Claire abandon her baby but it remains to be seen if she’s dead. I was tempted to put this in wrong category but may be I’ll revisit this prediction at the next season recap.

Jin dies. I didn’t take credit for this because I’m in denial and still hoping I’m wrong. I’m in danger of being optimistic to the point of foolishness at this juncture…

In a new feature I thought I’d list my top 3 favorite episodes of season 4:

Ji Leon. I don’t think this is a surprise to anyone. So well written, didn’t see the flashback and the flash forward coming and it prompted the great Jin debate.

The Constant. Again this shouldn’t be a shock because I like Desmond and Penny so much but I also really like how they dealt with time travel in this episode. This is the beginning of our understanding of how Lost will deal with time travel and so far, very cool

The Shape of Things to Come. Slingshot’s death and some real moments with Other Ben. As a rule Other Ben flashbacks are awesome.

Least favorite episode: Meet Kevin Johnson. 1) it was about my least favorite character and 2) for an episode that was supposed to cover the large topic of “What happened to Michael & Walt since season 2?” we got very few surprises and boring answers.

Last but not least my Lost Season 5 predictions:

Lt. Daniels (Matt) kills/killed Locke.

The physicist and the people on the boat somehow end up back on the island

The Losties and the Others team up to become one big tribe, but then break up in a civil war (Others/Losties war is the bad thing that happened because Jack left)

Ghostbuster (Miles) & Prego die this season

Peter Pan (Richard) is as old as the island

Aliens built the island (we might not learn this until season 6 though)

Other Ben is trying to get the O6 back on the island so he can find Penny

3 years will not pass for the people on the island like it does for the O6. If we are dealing with time and space, then moving the island (space) means moving time.

Jin is alive! (I had to..)

Well there they are, the fearless Lost Season 5 predictions.

Next up on Finally Lost, it’s time to stop predicting and time to start watching…

p.s. Shout out to my boy Johnny Cavs for lending me Season 5 and taking the time to put paper over all the pictures that might be spoilers. That’s hardcore. So far I haven’t been really spoiled yet…

Completed: 4-13/14 There’s No Place Like Home Part 2. 17 episodes left, 50 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

Lost really knows how to do season finales and thankfully I don’t have Season 5 yet or else I would have immediately popped it in the DVD. Here’s the recap: Jack & Locke get into an argument because Locke says the island doesn’t want Jack to leave. Jack thinks Locke is insane but Locke tells him he will believe in miracles soon and when he does he needs to lie about everything that’s happened since they landed on the island to protect them from Widmore. Back at the helicopter the commandos walk into a Kate induced Other trap and are all killed. In return for their help, Other Ben tells Sayid & Kate they are free to leave the island. Back on the boat, Dumb-Ass Dad (Michael) uses nitrogen to keep the bomb’s battery frozen until Desmond can disable the bomb. They don’t realize the bomb’s trigger is tied to the leader of the commando’s heart rate and if he dies the bomb will go off. Cut to Locke & Other Ben having a heart to heart about moving the island and passing the leadership-of-The-Others torch. The Commando leader shows up but Other Ben kills him with no regard for the people on the boat (Slingshot revenged). Other Ben then tells Locke to go lead The Others while he moves the island. He then goes to a secret frozen part of the Orchid Station and turns a donkey wheel to move the island. Other Ben had to move the island because the unfortunate consequence for the person moving the island is they can never go back to it. Back at the beach, the physicist is still loading people in the 6 person mini-boat because they don’t know about the bomb. The physicist tries to convince Indiana (Charlotte) to go back with him but she decides to stay after Ghostbuster (Miles) taunts her about leaving so soon after she’s been searching for the island for so long. Cut to the helicopter where Jack, Kate, Sayid, Hurley, Sawyer and Swoop (Frank!) begin to fly back to the boat but have trouble because they didn’t realize it moved closer to the island. To save fuel, Sawyer jumps out of the chopper and swims back to the island which buys the rest of the crew the time they needed to land on the boat when they Hurley finally spots it. Desmond frantically warns them that they must all leave the boat because the bomb is going to explode as soon as the nitrogen runs out. Kate goes to find Jin but Jack pulls her back into the chopper and they leave without Jin. The boat explodes as Daddy Jack tells Michael thanks for his services and while Jin is still on the deck. Next, the passengers on the helicopter watch the island disappear and with nowhere to land, the chopper eventually runs out of fuel and crashes into the water. Desmond, Swoop, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun, Hurley & Aaron all end up in the chopper life boat which is picked up by…Penny’s boat! Now that Jack has seen the miracle of the disappearing island he takes Locke’s advice and convinces everyone to lie about the crash and tells Desmond and Penny to go into hiding. Flash forward to the future and we witness Walt visiting Hurley and asking him about his father & Jeremy Bentham, Sayid killing a Widmore spy at the mental hospital and breaking Hurley out (after he checkmates Mr. Eko), Kate having a dream in which Prego (Claire) tells her not to bring him (Aaron I presume) back to the island, Sun meeting Mr. Widmore and telling him they have mutual goals in finding the island, and lastly, Jack going back to the funeral home and looking at Jeremy Bentham aka John Locke’s body (dun dun dun). Other Ben shows up and tells Jack he has some ideas on how that they can go back to the island but all the Ocean 6 must go plus Locke’s body.

Wow what an ending. After all the speculating and it’s Locke in the coffin! All the wondering of how those particular 6 ended up getting saved and it’s only because they happened to be in the helicopter. In addition Desmond & Swoop got saved but they had to go into hiding. Jin was seconds away from surviving (I”m still holding out hope) and it was all Jack’s fault if he is indeed dead. Other Ben won for now because killed all of Widmore’s commandos and has hidden the location of the island from him again. And now I think we know why Other Ben wouldn’t let anyone leave the island…he was afraid of giving away it’s location. It’s why he never helped the survivors get off. He never really had to worry about them getting off in the first place because there is only one heading that would allow you to leave the island and what are the odds the survivors would have found it. For the same reason Penny must have been circling around the island looking for Desmond but couldn’t break into the island’s event horizon.

While a few things were answered, there are still so many questions. What the hell is the island? I’m starting to think the aliens theory should be back on the table. Why are people whose dead bodies are on the island allowed to walk around? (Daddy Jack, Mr. Eko, Charlie, Yemi, etc.) Why did Claire tell Kate not to bring him back when Charlie and Daddy Jack are saying you have to go back. Why is Other Ben helping the O6 get back to the island? What bad things happened to the people on the island since the O6 left it (probably to find Penny)? What happened to the physicist’s mini-boat since he was between the island and big boat when the island disappeared. Is Indiana that little girl who befriended Other Ben on the island when they were young? What does Widmore want to do with the island? And of course the classics: what are the numbers, the black smoke and why do pregnant women on the island die? There are only 2 seasons left and still so many more questions to go…

Finally, I still haven’t given up on Jin. May be he survived the explosion and got rescued by the physicist’s mini-boat and got to another safe island somewhere. I know I’m still in the denial stage of grieving but I really want him to pull through. Sun must agree with me or why else would she want to get back to the island. I’m also very happy for Desmond & Penny. I hope they have good times together but judging by the lives of the other O6, I’m thinking tha won’t be the case. Sorry about all the venting but I’ve underestimated how difficult this exercise is yourself. I know it’s frustrating for you out there as well because all you can do is smile and try to not give anything away when I vent or tell you my latest theories. Well just 17 more episodes and we will be on the same page!

Next up on Finally Lost, I’ll give my season 5 predictions and score the ones from season 4 and then I can finally begin season 5!

Completed: 4-11 Cabin Fever, 4-12 There’s No Place Like Home Part 1. 19 episodes left, 51 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

I’m very sad that I’m 19 episodes away from having to go back and watch Lost like a normal person. The show is fantastic but I would have been infuriated by the lack of answers. I’ve never seen a show that would leave you hanging for seasons at a time. And there are still so many questions, here’s to hoping Season 5 provides more answers. Before I think about season 5 I need to watch the season 4 finale and before even that, I need to give you the recap of the 2 episodes I did watch.

Recap: We get a Locke flashback and learn he was 2 months premature and the Ageless Richard was present both for his birth and at his foster home to question Locke about which objects were already his. Locke chose the dirt, a compass & a knife which obviously meant he wasn’t special enough and Peter Pan (Richard) leaves in a bad mood. We then watch Locke get locked in a locker, and later we see him getting advice from PT therapist poser, Lt. Daniels, (Matt?) who tells him he should take his crippled ass on a walk-about and then thank him for the advice the next time they meet. Back on the island, Locke has a dream to get a map from a dead Dharma guy to find Jacob’s cabin, but when he get’s to the cabin he finds Daddy Jack (Christian!) and Prego (Claire) instead of Jacob. Daddy Jack gives Locke instructions to move the island and Other Ben & Hurley accompany him to the Orchid where this simple task can be completed. Other Ben then gives himself up to the commando unit, which is patrolling the Orchid, so Locke can sneak past them and move the island. Back on the beach, Swoop (the nice helicopter pilot) drops a sat phone trail for Jack & Kate to follow but when they run into Sawyer, Ghostbuster (Miles) and Aaron, Kate goes back to the beach with Aaron and Sawyer & Jack go for the chopper. Once Sawyer & Jack free Swoop they discover the commandos are going after Other Ben at the Orchid and they decide to follow because Leader Sawyer won’t leave Hurley to die. Back on the beach Sayid arrives with a mini-boat that fits exactly 6 and the physicist begins to use it to transport the survivors back to the boat (which is now a huge bomb). Sayid of course goes with Kate to track down Sayer & Jack but are captured by Peter Pan and The Others. Flash forward to the Oceanic 6 media day. Hurley’s family, Mama Jack, Shady Korean Parents and even Nadia are there to greet the 6 but no is there for Kate. We are then treated to a Hurley birthday party (too bad his car’s odometer was stuck on the numbers) and to a Sun & Daddy moment where she tells him that she is using her considerable Oceanic settlement to take over his company. Oh yea and Prego’s mom apparently pulled out of the coma and decided to go to Daddy Jack’s long delayed funeral and tell Jack that Prego was his half sister.

Why is Daddy Jack speaking for Jacob now? Is it because his dead body is somewhere on the island and it gave him cool island powers? Why does Prego look like she and Daddy Jack just smoked a pound of the best shit magic island had to offer? Daddy Jack tells Locke that Aaron is where he is supposed to be, but then Dead Charlie tells Jack (via Hurley) he isn’t supposed to be raising the baby. Will these dead people make up their minds? I’m also miffed about how Peter Pan identified Locke as special as a preemie and what was up with that time traveling test. I suppose it’s too much to ask that Locke recognize Peter Pan. At least moving the island makes a lot of sense! Now we know why Mr. Widmore can’t find the island if he was once on it. It’s also explains why Jack can’t get back. The fact that the mini boat fits 6 makes sense why only 6 Losties could be rescued but other than Sun, why those 6? Why couldn’t Jin go? Does that mean he really does die…

I think the path forward is this: the 6 leave the island for whatever reason and the others stay behind to live forever on magic island. The island is moved so the O6 can’t find their way back but Other Ben leaves the island (Locke takes over as leader of the Others) to take revenge on Charles Widmore, thus recruiting Sayid. Apparently magic island wants to O6 back for some reason and by the end of season 5 they decide to follow Other Ben back. Season 5 will teach us more about magic island and Sawyer will be the leader of the Losties.

Next up on Finally Lost…the bomb on the boat forces everyone to abandon it which is why only 6 can escape the island and the physicist, Swoop and all of the commandos will die. Please please please don’t let Jin die. I also don’t know why Desmond would go back and stay on the island…

p.s. we learned that the 3 the O6 claimed that died on the fake island were Boone, Libby & Charlie, I thought they had mentioned only 2 in the previous flash forward. I also wonder why they picked those three…

Completed: 4-8 Meet Kevin Johnson, 4-9 The Shape of Things to Come, 4-10 Something Nice Back Home. 21 episodes left, 52 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

It looks like I jumped offsides a little early on taking credit for my Kate/Sawyer prediction but I bulls-eyed Mr. Charles Widmore’s role, here’s the recap: We get almost a full episode flashback of Dumb-Ass Dad’s (Michael) time away from the island and it’s nothing too surprising. After all the annoying screaming “WAAALT”, DAD(Dumb-Ass Dad) leaves Walt with grandma because he can’t get over the guilt of killing Ana Lucia & Libby (good, F him!) After telling Walt what he did to save him, DAD tries to kill himself via car and gun but Other Tom shows up to tell him the island won’t let him die because it ain’t done with him yet. DAD is convinced by Other Tom to save the Losties on the island by blowing up Charles Widmore’s boat but instead of blowing up the boat, DAD is Other Ben-Whammied into becoming Other Ben’s spy. Back on the island Other Ben gives Slingshot (Alex), Frenchy (Danielle) & Karl a map to the temple but Frenchy & Karl are killed en route while Slingshot is taken prisoner Slingshot is then used as bait to get Other Ben to give himself up but Other Ben tries to call the bluff. Sadly the bluff ain’t a bluff and Slingshot is killed right in front of Other Ben causing him to say, “The rules have changed” and unleash the black smoke monster on the boat brigade. Other Ben, Locke & Hurley then go off to see Jacob while Prego (Claire), Devil baby (Aaron), Ghostbuster (Miles) & Sawyer head to the beach. Prego sees her father, Daddy Jack and follows him into the woods and we are left hanging while Sawyer calling out for Prego while holding an abandoned Devil Baby. Flash forward to Other Ben alone in a desert, kicking 2 armed guard’s ass, whamming Sayid to work for him after he reveals Charles Widmore is behind his wife Nadia’s death (check) and then having a face to face with Mr. Widmore in which Other Ben reveals he is going to kill his daughter Penny as payback. Back on the beach, Jack’s appendix is about to burst and has Kate hold a mirror so he can backseat-operate until White Bernard decides enough is enough and knocks him out leaving the Ice Princess (Juliet) to finish her work in peace. Flash forward to Kate & Jack living happily together, raising Devil Baby until Jack visits Hurley and is informed Charlie is continuing his post-mordem visits and left a message for Jack: someone will be visiting you soon. Jack seeing a flash of his father combined with Kate trying to cover up a favor she is running for Sawyer makes Jack explode and yell, “He’s not even related to you!” Weird, Kate keep a secret??

Wow, season 4 is a bloodbath! I had a feeling Frenchy was going to be the next to go (although I was half hoping for a flashback) but I didn’t expect Karl & Slingshot to die as well. I almost had to put the DVD in the freezer after they killed Slingshot Other Ben’s moment with his dead daughter was the first time during the series in which I knew he was completely sincere and despite the death being his fault, I really felt for him. I’m going to miss Slingshot and not just because she was my favorite self-made nickname. Other Ben’s flash forward was AWESOME. The end scene between he and Widmore was fantastic because, finally, Other Ben has an equal. I was very distraught to hear that Other Ben’s new plan is to kill Penny since my rooting interest is a Desmond/Penny happy ending. I’m especially frustrated because Other Ben always seems to get what he wants. It’s also curious that Other Ben said he can’t kill Widmore. Is this in the same way that DAD couldn’t kill himself? Does the island prevent normal life death until it’s done with you? It sounds like Widmore was on the island before, but then why can’t he get back to it? And why did he say Other Ben would never find Penny when as of xmas eve she was in her house? Is she hiding or did she finally make it to the island? So many questions..

Now between Other Ben’s flash forward and Jack’s second flash forward it looks like we can piece everything that’s going to happen to the Oceanic 6 when they get off the island. Hopefully that means we will start to learn HOW they get off the island and why the rest of the Losties chose/had to stay. I also loved how protective Sawyer was of Hurley & Prego. Clearly he is ready to step in as the leader of the Losties and I think he will be better leader than Jack & Locke.

And finally, some quick hits:

Clearly I am a stupid pathetic moron, because I COMPLETELY forgot that Prego and Jack were haflsies! Is there something special about Jack that he keeps seeing Daddy Jack or is there something special about Daddy Jack?

I’m starting to think Other Ben is in the coffin because all of the O6 seem to live and Other Ben is the only person to get off the island

Did all the Losties get a choice to leave or not? If there were only 6 spots it seems odd that Kate and Jack went. At least it makes sense why they made up the Kate story and told the rest of the world everyone else was dead. How on earth though, did they account for the extra bodies at the fake crash site though?

Ha I knew Other Tom is gay. During the Ice Princess’ flashback about Goodwin, Tim told her that she wasn’t his type. I forgot to note it in the blog

Indiana speaks Korean. There’s no way all 3 scientists and the pilot all live to see season 5

Sayid should have known better than to talk to DAD, it obviously would have blown his cover. I guess it didn’t matter since he then told the captain that DAD was the spy. Why did he do that?

I know I didn’t say much about DAD’s flashback but after you find out he got back to NYC and Walt hates him I didn’t find the episode particularly revealing. Obviously the best part was the “Not Yet” note attached to the bomb

Next up on Finally Lost…another Jacob encounter and I hope we get to find out how the O6 leave…

Completed: 4-6 The Other Woman, 4-7 Ji Yeon. 24 episodes left, 53 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

I didn’t have the heart to watch another episode after Ji Yeon. Before Jin’s death, I think there was some big surprise having to do with Dumb-Ass Dad (Michael) returning as Other Ben’s spy on the boat. It didn’t matter, Jin died. Has there been one character that has done more of an about-face than Jin? Charlie turned things around in 1 episode but Jin’s turnaround has been slower, steadier, more believable as a result, we’ve invested more into him. He started as a very unlikeable character, representing everything our culture hates: a criminal misogamist who yells at his wife for displaying independence and too much skin AND he didn’t even speak english! Then we learned the sacrifices Jin made for Sun, we learned he was once a good man and he became that man again. As his english improved so did our affection for him. It was with a heavy heart that I predicted his death, and now on to the recap…

The Ice Princess’ psychiatrist (and Other Goodwin’s wifey) appears out of thin air to let her know that Indiana (Charlotte) and Doc Brown (Daniel) are going to release gas on the entire island. Oh yea p.s. Other Ben is exactly where he wants to be (even when he’s not on screen, he’s cool). With little-to-no questions asked, Jack follows the Ice Princess but gets ditched when he stops to help Kate, who was knocked out when she saw Doc Brown’s gas masks. The Ice Princess beats Jack & Kate to the island gas factory and is persuaded by Indiana to let The Doc finish disabling the gas so Other Ben can’t gas anyone else (like he did to those poor Dharma saps). The episode ends with the Ice Princess feeling sorry for herself because her love affair with Goodwin made Other Ben send him as an infiltrator because as Other Ben notes to the Ice Princess, “You’re Mine!” Did I mention that Other Ben reveals to Locke that Charles Widmore is the man financing the boat and seeking Other Ben?? (grieving check) Back on Widmore’s boat we learn from “The Captain” that someone (probably Other Ben) has spent a lot of resources to plant the real oceanic flight 815 black box at a fake plane crash site with 324 (NUMBERS backwards) dead bodies and Daddy Chuck (C Widmore) wants to find out why. A note from Other Ben’s spy says “The Captain” is not to be trusted and Sayid & Desmond tend to agree when the capt. lets some chick tie herself up with chains and jump into the water without trying to help her. Afterwards The Captain shows them to their poop-stained quarters and they realize Dumb-Ass Dad (DAD) is both the janitor & spy (dun dun dun). Back on the island (deep breath) Sun & Jin decide to go to Camp Locke but the Ice Princess Ben-whammies them into staying by telling Jin that Sun slept with another man and thought her baby might be that man’s instead of Jin’s (now he know why his father-in-law wanted him to throw that hotel owner’s son out of a window!) Jin goes off fishing with White Bernard who imparts some serious karma wisdom on him and Sun is convinced by the Ice Princess to stay at Camp Jack and try to get off the island. Meanwhile in the shows first flashback/flashforward we are meant to think that both Jin & Sun got off the island but alas it is revealed that Jin is dead and Sun has a healthy baby girl by herself in Korea Fantastic writing…

Now I didn’t mean to bury the lead but yes, I was SOOO confused with Jin’s flashback and Sun’s forward flash. I kept coming up with crazy theories on how one of the 7 oceanic survivors were hidden. Or may be the baby didn’t count as 1?? So well done. While Sun was in the delivery room, she kept saying she was waiting for Jin, Jin kept getting phone calls from the hospital and wanted to buy a panda for a baby! Sun & Jin were the perfect people to use this trick on because they have had simultaneous flashbacks before, arg! And then the great Hurley shows up (of course he does) and it all makes sense…Except…the grave has a death-date of 9-22 which is the date of the plane crash!!!! Wooooo! Jin stayed on the island for some reason and isn’t dead…at least I think. I don’t know why he couldn’t leave the island but it makes perfect sense why he would have let Sun go without him. That has to be right! Take my check off the board for now because that’s new my theory and I’m sticking to it (otherwise I’d be really depressed)…

There are no words to describe how manipulative Other Ben is. I believe Goodwin’s wifey when she says Other Ben is exactly where he wants to be, just like it’s no shock that he knew Indiana and the Doc were going after the gas. Hell he may have even wanted them to succeed, who knows with him. One thing I know about Other Ben is that he doesn’t let people go; that’s why I shouldn’t have been as shocked as I was when DAD showed back up under Other Ben’s employee. So how did DAD end up getting Ben-Whammied? Too many theories come to mind, but maybe he and Walt got kidnapped by the boat and now he’s bidding his time till he can escape. In fact I wouldn’t put it past Other Ben to have sent him right on a course that got him kidnapped…

Next up on Finally Lost…I get to see 3-8 which many people rave about. Well 3-7 sure lived up to the hype.

p.s. Hurley to Sawyer: “Sawyer, I challenge you to a game a horseshoes, a game of hooorsehoes”…Take me to another island…

Completed: 4-3 The Economist, 4-4 Eggtown, 4-5 The Constant. 26 episodes left, 54 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come and like the survivors I am completely lost.

One right, and a few wrong. I predicted that time flows differently on the island (check) but I thought Sayid & Devil Baby (Aaron) would stay on the island (wrong). For partial credit I said that the man Kate had to get back to was a powerful man that got her out of prison. Well one could argue that Aaron was a big reason she got off…

On to the recap: We start with a Sayid flash forward and learn he is a hit man that is whackin people with connections to Oceanic Flight 815. We then watch Sayid seduce a woman (Elsa) whose boss is an “economist” in order to get close to him and presumably whack him, but the tables are turned when she shoots him after he warns her to leave the city. This being Sayid, he eventually gets the upper hand, kills her and goes off to find his doctor/boss to fix him up. Oh by the way his boss is Other Ben! In real time Sayid hostage swaps the Ghostbuster (Miles) for Indiana (archeologist name?) so he and Desmond can helicopter back to the boat. Next, Kate gets a flash forward and we watch pre-bearded Jack lie under oath and say that Kate pulled most of the 8 survivors out of the water and onto the beach. Kate’s dying mom shows up and decides not to testify for the fee of seeing her new grandchild. Kate denies this request but her mom still declines to testify and the case against Kate falls apart. Kate is given 10 years probation and is restricted to travel in the state (I’m not sure what state they are in). Back in real time Kate brings the Ghostbuster to see Other Ben while Sawyer runs Locke interference. The Ghostbuster tells Other Ben he will tell his employer that Other Ben is dead for $3.2M Euro and Kate gets banished from Camp Locke for this ruse. Back at Camp Jack there is concern because no one has heard from the helicopter in over a day and the trip should have only taken 20 minutes. They survivors haven’t been told that time flows differently on the island and if you recently had exposer to electromagnetism there could be some side effects. We then watch a disoriented Desmond jump back and forth between present time and 1996 while he tries to follow 1996-Daniel’s advice, which is to communicate with a constant in both times: Penny! In 1996, Desmond pleads with Penny to keep her number until christmas eve of 2004 when he will call her. Once Sayid fixes the communication equipment he talks to Penny and he is fixed like brand new.

There was so much going on in these episodes that I can’t cover them all, however, I will bullet what I think are important notes so I don’t totally ignore them:

When Sayid looks at Naomi’s bracelet it looks very much like the one Elsa is wearing when she dies. This probably means R.C. is the economist and might be the main bad guy. Who is R.C.??

I would have thought the first thing Sayid would do after he left the island is find Nadia. Maybe Other Ben was referring to her when he made reference to how the people on the list hurt those closest to him

The payload shot from the ship to the island was the first conclusive proof of how time flows differently on the island

Mr. Widmore bought the diary of the captain of the Black Rock, very interesting…

Why even bother to say there were 2 plane crash survivor’s that died on the island? Does that really make the story more believable?

Kate isn’t allowed to leave the state? That’s a very interesting demand. If she goes back to the island she could end up in jail and if they rescue the rest of the survivors Jack could end up in jail for perjury

Now the big stuff. Why did Kate take Devil Baby off the island? I doubt it was by force. Either Prego (Claire) dies or she wanted Kate to give her baby a non-island life. This begs the bigger question: why did the 6 who got off the island lie about everything?? I can understand why they made up the story of Kate’s heroics but why did they decide to leave everyone else on the island? If they were forced into it then what sort of deal did they make? I’m guessing that one by one, the 6 are going to decide they have to go back to the island and that’s how season 6 is going to start (LA X). Do all of the 6 know Other Ben is not on the island? It doesn’t seem likely because you would think Jack would use him to get back to the island…unless he’s in the coffin! Other Ben clearly has the necessary skills and passports to pose as someone from Oceanic Flight 815!

Time travel! Check! Is it just me or does a sci-fi time travel theme all of the sudden seem so out of place on this show? You have such normal everyday people like Sun, Jin and Sawyer and then you throw time travel into the island waters and everything seems off. Somehow I don’t see Prego & Rose sitting around the camp fire discussing electromagnetism and how the island-time flows compared to the rest of the world. The big question if course is can the future be changed? Every sci-fi movie/TV show that deals with time travel must answer this question before creating their time rules. I don’t know what the answer for Lost is but I suspect the future can be changed because Desmond kept saving Charlie and he got Penny to keep her number for 8 years. The physicist didn’t seem to recognize Desmond right away but he of course he could have been acting. This time traveling business will no doubt get more confusing before it becomes more clear…

Next up on Finally Lost…maybe we’ll find out who the 6th survivor was!

p.s. Hurley and Sawyer as roommates, pure gold! It’s like the writers are reading my mind!

Completed: 4-1 The Beginning of the End, 4-2 Confirmed Dead. 29 episodes left, 56 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything that is to come, like the survivors I am completely lost.

Season 4 begins and I’m just as clueless as ever, was I really expecting anything else? Did I expect a flash forward? Yes. Would Hurley have been in my top 5 guesses of who got the first flash forward? No. Recap (this is going to be tough with the flash forwards): The survivors split into 2 camps: Camp Jack believes the folks from the boat are good and here to rescue the survivors, Camp Locke is taking orders from mid-puberty Walt and believes the folks from the boat are bad and should be killed. Hurley convinces half the survivors to go with Locke by telling them that Charlie’s last act was to warn them about the people on the boat…flash to future Hurley in mental hospital and we hear him telling a pre-bearded Jack that he regrets that decision and says we need to go back. Hurley was put in the mental home after seeing Charlie’s ghost in a convenience store and giving the cops an OJ-like car chase. Back in what I think is current time, we see an A-Team land on the island: a ghostbuster, an archeologist, a physicist and a pilot that was supposed to be flying Oceanic 815 the day it crashed. Everyone but the archeologist (who gets shot) ends up with Camp Jack and it is revealed that the team’s primary target is Other Ben. We find out the person who visited Hurley in the mental home (char name? I’m calling him Lt. Daniels from The Wire for now) put together this supposed covert team with Bi-Ling (Naomi) as the leader, all while assuring her that no one from 815 survived. The last thing we learn is that Other Ben has a man on the boat and he knows everything about the team.

Dude, I’m part of the Oceanic 6! I’m sorry Hurley did you say 6?? So for some reason 6 of the survivors got off the island, got famous, are miserable and are haunted by the island until they go back. I’m kind of sad that there appears to be no way to change the fact that characters I like are going to leave their friends behind on the island and no matter what happens, Jack will grow a hideous beard. OK, I’ll bite and take a guess at the 6: Jack, Kate, Hurley (man I’m good at this), Locke (because I think his body is in the coffin), Sun (otherwise she’ll die on the island), and a random person! I picture Sawyer staying behind for some reason, Prego (Claire) not going because she and devil baby would make 7, Sayid has to stay behind to protect the survivors and all the rest weren’t on the plane. I think I only missed Jin and I already predicted that he would die so it would be hypocritical to say he got saved. Interestingly enough, Hurley is now seeing dead people when he isn’t even on magic island, what’s that all about?

Who is Lt. Daniels and why does he want to extract Other Ben from the island? How did he and Naomi know that 815 crashed there? Why was Indiana (archeologist chick) digging up Dharma-tracking jewelry from polar bears? One thing is for sure, Lt. Daniels knows his stuff. If I were assembling a team to extract someone from magic island I would definitely want someone that could talk to ghosts, someone that knew something about physics and someone that could actually land a helicopter on that damn island. I think the most logical guess is that the A-Team is working for Mr. Widmore. Since I already identified Widmore as a bad guy in a season 2 blog, I’m pot committed. If he doesn’t show up in season 4 I think I’m going to have to finally abandon this prediction.

New poll is up…When the survivors divided would you have gone with Jack or Locke?

Next up on Finally Lost…Locke takes the crew to see Jacob and Other Ben gets knocked around again. This time from his own stolen daughter!

p.s. I love the title name, “The Beginning of the End”. It sets the tone for the entire season in a similar way that “A Man of Science a Man of Faith” did in season 2. Plus Other Ben said it which makes it way cooler.

Completed: 3-21 Greatest Hits, 3-22/3-23 Through the Looking Glass. 31 episodes left, 57 days to go. As you know, I don’t know anything about the show that is to come. I use to think they got off the island but I think the flash forward I just saw got me off the hook of that spoiler.

Flash Forward!?! Now there’s a wrinkle. Recap: Desmond sees a flash forward of Charlie turning off a blinking light and then drowning. At Slingshot’s (Alex) request, Carl goes to the beach to warn the survivors that The Others moved up their previously scheduled kidnapping appointment a day early. The survivors break into 3 teams: Charlie (dead ppl get more respect) & Desmond go off to knock out the jamming signal at the underwater hatch, Sayid, Jin & White Bernard stay at Camp Survivors to shoot the dynamite planted in the fake identified tents, and Jack leads the rest of the survivors to disable Frenchy’s (Danielle) S.O.S signal at the radio tower which is also jamming the satellite phone. You know what happens next…the dynamite boys kill 7 of the 10 Others before being captured. Not to worry because Hurley saves the day with Other Ben’s father’s truck and between the truck, Sayid’s legs and Sawyer’s gun they kill the 3 Others (including Tom, check!). At the underwater hatch Charlie gets captured by Others guarding the hatch but is rescued by Desmond. Charlie uses previously un-exhibited manipulation skills to find out there is a jamming code and to convince one of the dying guards to give him the code. Charlie disables the jammer and talks to Penny but sees Left Eye (Mikhail) pulling a grenade in an attempt kill him and Desmond. As Desmond rushes to talk to Penny (who now knows Desmond is alive), Charlie closes the watertight door and with his last bit of life lets Desmond know the ship 80 miles off shore is not Penny’s (very sad check). At the radio tower the survivors rejoice when they learn Sayid, Jin & White Bernard are OK and Other Ben attempts one last time to convince Jack not to phone home because Bi-ling (Naomi) is from a group trying to destroy the island and claims her crew will kill the survivors. Locke shows up and kills Bi-ling with his knife throwing skills (after a “hey you damn cripple get up and walk” speech from a mid-puberty-voiced Walt) and implores Jack not to phone the ship. Jack doesn’t listen and phones the ship and help is coming at last! Time for the series to end except…Jack’s flashback was really a flashforward and he’s using his Oceanic gold pass in hopes of crash landing back on magic island. Future Jack tells future Kate that he made a mistake and they have to go back. Clearly Future Jack is having rescue remorse…

I really beat up on Charlie a lot in this blog. I called him boring, the hobbit and I even dreaded his flashbacks. I’m feeling really guilty because Charlie redeemed himself in the end. I thought the “5 best things of my life” flashback was one of the most powerful flashbacks to date (connection: Charlie saves Nadia from a mugger in an alley). Charlie showed up as a hero when it counted most and it was hilarious to watch him toy with his 2 Others guards because he knew the future and the future said he was going to turn off the yellow light. The only good thing that can come of all this is that Penny knows Desmond is alive and maybe she can now rescue the survivors. Left Eye killing Charlie was quite poetic since Desmond let him go free when Charlie wanted to kill him. Charlie, you grew on me and you will be miss. Long live Drive Shaft…

All 3 of my favorite characters got to kill some Others together: Sawyer, Sayid & Hurley. Poor Hurley, no one wanted to pick him in gym class but he showed everyone the why the fat kid shouldn’t sit on the bench. Despite the fact that I liked Tom, I LOVED when Sawyer killed him in cold blood for taken Walt. Guess that thing between them is finally finished. Back at the radio tower, I only have one thought…Other Ben could you PLEASE just explain things. Maybe if you did then Jack wouldn’t have phoned the ship filled with new bad guys. Or if you didn’t pretend-kill Jack’s friends! Arrrg. Maybe Jack was really Other-Ben-whammied because Other Ben really wanted Jack to phone the ship (unlikely). Either way the Others future isn’t so bright since most of their best warriors died (save Left Eye) and the survivors captured their guns. Throw in the fact that Other Ben’s leadership was already shaky and you have the makings for a revolution. Maybe Locke will take over now to help combat the new threat. Well at least Slingshot got to meet her mom, I’ve been waiting for that for like 3 seasons…

Now the flashforward. Just when I’m think I’m getting out…My biggest question is can the future change or is that future set in stone? Based on Desmond’s flashbacks one would think the future is set but the future seems too grim to definitely happen. Jack seems like the last person to want to get involved with all the island mumbo-jumbo so something big must have happened for him to want to go back. Who was in the coffin? The most obvious guess is Sawyer since he has no one and Kate would certainly care, but I suppose it could also be Locke. And who is Kate going back to and how did she get out of her legal troubles? I love that the survivors got gold passes, and I would think they are famous now. I think this flashforward really sets a new tone for season 4 and it will be much different than the previous seasons. Before I started season 3, I was told that season 1 was about the survivors, season 2 was about the hatch and then I was asked what I thought season 3 would be about. I guessed The Others and I think I was right. My guess is that Season 4 is going to be about the people not on the island but who are pulling the strings. We’ll see…

Next on Finally Lost…I’ll review the poll (last chance to vote), tally my abysmal prediction record and make my season 4 predictions.

Completed: 3-16 One of Us, 3-17 Catch-22, 3-18 D.O.C., 3-19 The Brig, 3-20 The Man Behind The Curtai

Completed: 3-16 One of Us, 3-17 Catch-22, 3-18 D.O.C., 3-19 The Brig, 3-20 The Man Behind The Curtain. 34 episodes left, 58 days to go. As you know I don’t know anything about this series except that I’ve seen previews that suggest that the survivors get off the island at some point.

So much happened in these 5 episodes and I’ll try to get to it all. Recap: We learn that the Ice Princess (Juliet) was recruited to figure out why mothers who get pregnant on magic island die during their 2nd trimester while Other Ben used her sister’s remergent cancer as leverage to keep her on the island. We also learn that the Ice Princess is really a mole and activates Prego’s (Claire) implant to make her sick so Ice P can gain the survivor’s trust by curing her. Elsewhere after Desmond sees a future-flash, he leads Hurley, Jin & the Hobbit (Charlie) to find a helicopter crash survivor and with the help of Patch Adams (the russian Other) he returns her back to health. The conveniently hidden ultra-sound machine reveals that it was Jin who knocked up Sun and the Ice Princess explains that the sperm count of males on magic island is 4-5 times higher than on normal deserted islands. Locke returns to find Sawyer and brings him to the Black Rock so he can kill Daddy Locke for him because it turns out Daddy Locke is con man Sawyer! After revealing to Sawyer that Ice Princess is a mole, Locke returns to the Others with the body of Dead Daddy Locke and proclaims he and Other Ben are going to see Jacob. Locke hears a voice that says “Help me” but believes Jacob is a figment of Other Ben’s imagination and after an argument, Other Ben shoots Locke and leaves him for dead in a pit filled with deceased Dharma workers that Other Ben had betrayed years before. Back at Camp Survivor, Sawyer reveals that the Ice Princess is a mole but Jack says he already knows and they are trying to come up with a plan to counter the coming Other attack.

I think I know what’s going on with the Others now. The original Others are native to the island and put great value on anyone that can communicate with the island; they call these people “special”. For whatever reason they got into a long war with the Dharma folks and finally exterminated them with Other Ben’s help. Other Ben likely rose to the tops of the Others food chain because he was very special as demonstrated by his ability to see his dead mother (this must mean Jack & Mr. Eko are special too). The Others serve this Jacob fellow and would probably be content to live on the island except they can’t reproduce because mothers that conceive on the island die during pregnancy, so they need to kidnap kids and perform tests on pregnant moms. When the plane crashed Other Ben wanted a list of 4 names, this was either a list of 4 special people or potential knocked up ladies. To serve knocked-up ladies soup (a magic island specialty) simply add horny men with abnormally high sperm count with mediocre to hott -looking women on a deserted island place setting. I always wondered why The Others let Kate & Sawyer “get stuck in a net” while imprisoned in the cages but they must have wanted Kate to get prego’d. It also must be one of the reasons The Others didn’t want to help the survivors of oceanic flight 815 get off the island.

Now that we have The Others solved there are a few other topics that need to be looked at. Daddy Locke is Sawyer!! I received comments from a friend about something that was starring me in the face since season 1! I should have guessed this since his favorite character is Locke. Great plan by Locke to use Sawyer to kill his dad…How do The Others have some great info on all the survivors?? Someone is definitely pulling the strings…I like that Locke told Sawyer he is on his own path and I believe him. Locke only cares about the island, he’s not with The Others nor the survivors. It was also great to see Locke manipulate Other Ben into taking him to see Jacob. At first I was inclined to agree with Locke that Jacob is made up but now I think he is real. I don’t however, know why Jacob needs help from Locke.

Then there was Other Ben’s flashback. I could write a whole blog just on that. He was NOT born on the island! His mother died giving birth to him 2 months premature and his father was none-other-than Roger the Workman, supplier of the beer & truck fun! Young Ben was recruited to betray his Dharma brethren by hasn’t aged a day Richard. I would attribute this a magical island property but Other Ben and SlingShot (Frenchy’s (Danielle) daughter) have clearly aged. After I finished season 2 I was given a link by a friend to a synopsis of the Lost Experience game that took place during the season 2/3 summer break. The synopsis explained what the numbers were and referenced Dharma’s work on life extension so I wonder if that’s what’s going on here.

Then there is Penny. With enough money and determination you can find anyone! Penny recruited Bi-lingual chick (Naomi) to track down Desmond but her helicopter crashed as she got close to the island. I don’t know why her helicopter failed because clearly some electronic equipment works on the island. Maybe the hatch blowing up changed the dynamic or maybe it’s only planes & ships that go bomb which is why The Others use a submarine. In either case Bi-ling revealed that the world found the wreckage of 815 and all bodies were accounted for. Dun dun dun. I think this is the CEO’s work and he wants these people with all these connections on the island. How he got them there all at the same time is beyond me.

Finally a few quick hits to keep this entry from going on forever:
- I love Sun flashbacks and it was heartbreaking to find out either she was going to die or the baby wasn’t going to be Jin’s. I’m glad it’s Jin’s baby.
- I don’t think Locke’s dead, he will Wolverine heal. I would like to go back through the episodes and see how many hints there are to the wolverine-like healing speed on the island. Makes me wonder why Boone & the marshal died.
- The survivors don’t trust Jack anymore but I think he’s still trust worthy. The Ice Princess on the otherhand is a snake and I wouldn’t trust her. She’ll do anything to get off the island and I think she believes using Sun as a lab rat will be her ticket.
- Sayid, fix that satellite phone before The Others get it!
- Desmond almost sacrificed the Hobbit to find Penny. A ballzy move my friend.
- Deaths: The Hobbit won’t make it to season 4 and neither will Other Tom.

Next up on Finally Lost…I’ll finish Season 3! I hear that the last 15 seconds are a mind blower.

Completed: 3-12 Par Avion, 3-13 The Man From Tallahassee, 3-14 Expose, 3-15 Left Behind. 39 episode

Completed: 3-12 Par Avion, 3-13 The Man From Tallahassee, 3-14 Expose, 3-15 Left Behind. 39 episodes left, 59 days to go. As you know I don’t know anything about this series except that I’ve seen previews that suggest that the survivors get off the island at some point.

What a great 4 episode clip! I think this must be the part of the series where the writers, much like the universe, course corrected. I am seeing more answers being given, the pace of the story has picked up and they even buried alive Enrique the Cook and Anna Nikki-ole (ew she really banged that old guy for $8M?) I was surprised to learn that people really hated those 2 since I only remember them being in 1 or 2 episodes but the show must feel a lot different when it’s viewed one week at a time.

So the recap: Prego (Claire) uses her nature channel knowledge gained from hanging out with comatose mom to tie a note to a electronically monitored migrating bird; the Hobbit (Charlie) & Desmond come clean to Claire about Charlie’s future death and we learn that Jack’s Dad is really Prego’s father (man that guy get’s around). Kate, Sayid, Frenchy & Locke go over the sonar defenses and through the woods to Others Camp to rescue Jack but are appalled to find he is working with The Others. Sayid & Kate are kidnapped and Locke is Other-Ben-whammied (new term for being Ben-manipulated) to blow up the submarine only to be given the gift of his biological father all tied-up. Back at camp, Hurley and the gang have a Hardee Boys mystery hour and figure out that Enrique & Anna Nikkiole were killed over diamonds but missed the memo about them only being spider-paralyzed so they were buried alive. Finally, the episode “Left Behind” treated us to a handcuffed mud wrestling match between Kate & the Ice Princess (Juliet) where the only winners were the males in the audience. Eventually they made up (sadly without kissing) and escaped the black smoke and found Sayid and Jack at Camp Others.

I know Prego only gets one flashback per season but they are always among my favorites. We finally get to see who Daddy Jack was trying to visit in Australia when Ana Lucia was in the car. I knew it’d eventually be someone important but I had no idea it’d be a grownup Prego! I’ll spare you all from my complaining about how long we will have to wait before Jack & Prego realize they are halfsies but just know I’ll be frustrated till it happens (prolly in Season 5 or 6 grrr!) I’m very intrigued that The Others know EVERYTHING about the survivors of flight 815 and they surely must know all about these connections. Maybe The Others will invite the survivors to a magic island thanksgiving and tell them all about the connections before slaughtering them. Stranger things have happened. At least Dez & the Hobbit told Prego about Dez’s future flashes.

Oh the man from Tallahassee! I’m beginning to understand why people love Other Ben. I’m instantly won over by such quotes as:
- “John you should probably know that my daughter currently hates me so using me as a hostage might now work”
- “No, John, unfortunately we don’t have a code for ‘there’s a man in my closet with a gun to my daughter’s head,’ although…we obviously should”.
- “That’s why I’m in the wheelchair and you’re not”

I hate him, I love him. And he finally gives us some answers. He confirms the island is in fact magic island and has healed Locke (and likely along with Rose & Jin’s boys) but we don’t know why it hasn’t healed Other Ben (perhaps he is immune because he’s lived on the island all his life?). He tells us why he wanted the sub blown up and we learn about his manipulative plan to capture Jack, Sawyer & Kate. What we are still left to ponder is…why won’t he let people leave the island? What are they doing on the island? Is there really a magic box and how/why is the island so magical. Where did The Others go? And HOW did they acquire Locke’s dad? I’ll make some predictions soon but for now I’m going to guess that Daddy Locke came in another plane with the most recent hatch anomaly that caused Desmond to use the fail safe.

A few words about Expose’. Any episode that has hott Nikki as a stripper dancing to rump-shaker, a Billie D Williams cameo as himself, Sawyer in the middle of a whodunnit, and 2 people buried alive is a classic episode to me. I LOVE how we got to see Enrique & Anna Nikkiole play small parts at vital times during this show’s timeline. So are they really dead?? I guess I’ll give them a couple more episodes before I call time of death but what a GREAT ending. I love how this episode explained little things like Enrique going off to the bathroom, why Enrique wanted to go to the new hatch and how the survivor’s knew about the guns in the marshal’s briefcase (I think I questioned how Shannon knew about the guns at one point?). It was great to see Other Ben and the Ice Princess planning in the hatch but I wonder why the Others leave those hatches abandoned.

Finally a few words about Left Behind. The connections are really coming full circle. It makes sense why Sawyer was in Kate’s Mom’s dinner…the lady from the long con must have lived close by. Now the Con Lady helps Kate get a moment with her mom and tells Kate about her being knocked up by a con man. She came SO close to using the name Sawyer it hurts! Kate is the reason Sawyer ended up in prison! Sawyer really does have a daughter! I really hope the survivors discover these connections. Last word on the episode..I love that Hurley conned Sawyer into being nice to everyone and taking over as leader. Those two should always be on screen together!

Next up on Finally Lost…Jack & company return home to end Sawyer’s brief stint as commander and chief and hopefully Sayid will interrogate the Ice Princess. Now we can find out everything! I still don’t trust her and wouldn’t put it past Other Ben to have injected her as a spy. She did after all go out of her way to handcuff herself to Kate in the middle of nowhere and then lie about it!

Completed: 3.8 Flashes Before Your Eyes, 3-9 Stranger in a Strange Land, 3-10 Tricia Tanaka is Dead,

Completed: 3.8 Flashes Before Your Eyes, 3-9 Stranger in a Strange Land, 3-10 Tricia Tanaka is Dead, 3-11 Enter 77. 43 episodes left, 60 days to go. As you know I don’t know anything about this series except that I’ve seen previews that suggest that the survivors get off the island at some point.

When I’m ready to blog I usually go on lostapedia and look up the last episode I’ve seen because it’s a spoiler free way of getting pictures. Sadly this time I read that episode 60 (Enter 77) is the midpoint for the series since the writers decided on doing 120 episodes. Tear. I on the other hand am much more than halfway through the watchable episodes and there is still so much I don’t understand. Well it looks like I was wrong again. If Patch Adams (russian dude with eye patch) is to be trusted then The Others are NOT Dharma people. In fact it sounds like The Others were on the island before the Dharma people and for good measure they killed the Dharma folks in a magic island civil war. Leave it to Sayid to always ask the right questions and always figure out things like Patch Adams isn’t alone. Sayid learns that the wires go underground throughout the island and connect to a sub that gives a beacon so Dharma can find the island. Some sense emerges from confusion. I’m shocked that Patch Adams gave up this information freely, especially since he killed his partner in order to keep Sayid from using one partner’s pain as a way of getting the other partner to talk. One more Other down…

Before I get too ahead of myself I need to talk about Desmond’s flashback. A friend told me that Desmond’s flashbacks were always the best and I think he’s right. We sorta learn what happened to Dez when the hatch blew and I was wrong again! He didn’t travel to the future, he went back in time where the ghost of engagement rings past told him he couldn’t change the future because the universe always course corrects. I don’t know what it is about Penelope but I totally heart her. My new rooting interest is for Dez and Penny to end up so happy together by the end of the show. I already hated Daddy Widmore after he stopped Dez’s letter from reaching Penny and now I would like to introduce him to the black smoke thing for telling Dez he couldn’t marry his daughter (I also wanted to shake Dez for not telling Penny he wrote her when he saw her before he ran into Jack). We also learned in this flashback that the picture Dez has been carrying around all this time of him & Penny was in front of a screen & occurred moments before they broke up, which I thought was a good twist. Oh yea and we learn that Dez can seen future flashes and keeps saving Charlie. Ahh why didn’t I think of Charlie! Of course Charlie is going to die, he’s not a top 5 character but he’s important enough to have a meaningful death. Sorry Charlie, the universe is going to course correct your ass off the island.

This just in, after 2.5 seasons of mainly crying, Jack Shepard got a little interesting. Banging a hott Thai chick and getting her to give you tattoos will do that for ya. I hope Pad Thai comes back for another episode, especially if it involves a beach scene. I don’t know why the locals were so upset about Jack getting a tattoo but I hope we learn more. It’s worth noting that Jack only had half of his current tattoo finished when he got his ass beat so I’m holding out hope for more info. “He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us.” That’s what it says but that’s not what it means. Stick that up your ass Other Sheriff!

If you follow this blog then you know I have a huge Sawyer man crush. Mostly because of his perfect man scruff but also because we both loving giving nicknames (apologies to all Lockheed Martin newbies I’ve nicknamed). That being said an episode where Sawyer sits around drinking beer while Hurley (another one of my favorites) tries to get a car running has to be one of my favorite episodes. I think Sawyer set a nickname record this episode, and the beer only helped. Every time these 2 are on screen together I’m laughing, which made their pingpong match in the following episode another rare treat. Sawyer should know better than to challenge a nerdy guy in pingpong. No nicknames for a week?? That’ll make the show almost unwatchable!

Next up on Finally Lost…Sayid, Kate, Locke & Frenchy find The Others neverland ranch and I think it’s all over for the Hobbit…

p.s. After season 2 was all numberlific, where did all the numbers go??

Completed: 3-5 The Cost of Living, 3-6 I Do, & 3-7 Not in Portland. 47 episodes left, 61 days to go. As you know I don’t know anything about this series except that I’ve seen previews that suggest that the survivors gets off the island at some point.

After being wrong about the invisible dino, the aliens, no main characters dying, Ethan hitting Sayid over the head with the stick, and no main characters dying (again), I’m on a winning streak. The Others kidnap Jack to operate on Other Ben’s tumor, check. Mr. Eko is the next character to die, check check. Kate picks Sawyer over Jack, check check check. Enough with the semi-gloating and onto the recap: Mr. Eko wakes up from his polar bear induced coma to follow his imaginary brother to the Nigerian crash site. He is followed by Locke, the hobbit (Charlie), Desmond, some new smoking hott chick and her boyfriend or husband or brother (after Boone and Sticks I’m not taking any chances). Sadly the rescue team is too late to save Mr. Eko from the black smoke killer thing and he uses his last breath to tell the others that they are next. Meanwhile Kate and Sawyer get it on in their cages and Jack uses his brains for once and forces The Others to Let Kate and Sawyer go free in return for fixing up Other Ben’s sabotaged kidney.

So we finally got our first Ice Princess (Juliet) flashback and we learn that she once a normal gal who used experimental injections to impregnate her cancer diagnosed sister while trapped under the thumb of her manipulative ex-husband until The Others ran over her ex-husband with a bus and conned her into going to “Portland” with them. All of this begs the question…why do The Others stay on the island? I still think they believe they are doing noble research under the leadership of CEO guy. Also if The Others have such great intelligence and science capability then why did Other Ben need Jack to do his surgery. One of The Others said they haven’t been able to communicate outside the island since the sky turned purple (hatch blewup) so that combined with Other Ben’s view that fate sent him a surgeon is probably the reason for this. I also wonder about the obvious…instead of kidnapping Jack, why not say, “Hey I’m getting you guys all off the island, could you maybe wait and take the next boat out and do some back surgery on me in the meantime?” Now while I commend Jack for finally having a great plan to rescue Sawyer & Kate, I berate him for not asking ANY QUESTIONS! The plot also thickens because the Ice Princess asks Jack to kill Other Ben via silent TV. Is this another ploy to gain Jack’s trust, or does she really want off the island that badly? I think the Ice Princess wants Other Ben dead. Assuming that’s true, why does she tell The Others that Jack will never kill Other Ben and that they should go after Kate & Sawyer?? They also said Other Ben would rather die than let Kate & Sawyer go…why?? They said Jack’s not on the list but Kate and Sawyer are…Arg! Either way Other Ben wakes up in the middle of his procedure and promises Icey that he will let her go home if she let’s Sawyer & Kate go which she does after killing Danny.

Now let’s not forget about our friends on the magic island. Apparently Locke has been trained in the corporate ways of diversity & inclusion because he opens up the Mr. Eko hunt to everyone. It’s a great way to address the fact that there are roughly 30 other survivors from oceanic flight 815 that haven’t got to go on cool hatch missions before. I think Locke is a much better leader than Jack and I hope he keeps up the openness. I know people love Mr. Eko but I was kind of getting bored of his story. Maybe death by black smoke was the only way to save this crumbling character that had begun as such a bad ass. Tailgaters…and then there was one…watch out White Bernard! Now that Mr. Eko is dead it’s time to predict the next major death. I’m going with a midseason cliffhanger of…a pretend death. It’s time for the show to make you think someone has died when they really haven’t. 3rd times a charm…no major deaths for a while!

Finally a few points I thought worth mentioning:
- Sawyer drops the funniest line in the entire series on none other than Mac from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: “Don’t get mad at me just because you were dumb enough to fall for the old wookie prisoner transfer con gag!!” HA
- I love Slingshot (Frenchy’s daughter) and am willing to bet several Bart Simpson autographed rocks that she doesn’t know Other Ben isn’t her real dad…
- The writers made a huge mistake when Locke says he and Sayid rescued Mr. Eko from the polar bear, when it was he & Charlie!
- Am I really expected to believe Locke & Desmond couldn’t come up with turning on all the TVs on their own? At least this hott girl is smarter than Sticks.

Next up on Finally Lost…we’ll hopefully find out if Other Ben keeps his promise to get Ice Princess & Jack off the island.

And the winner of this week’s poll question, “What island activity would you most like t

And the winner of this week’s poll question, “What island activity would you most like to do”….play golf with Hurley of course! 44% of you would like to shoot a round with everyone’s favorite multi-millionare recovering psychotic. I think if the survivors ever get discovered Hurley should use his cash to open up a magic island golf course. Watch out for the invisible smoke thing guarding hole 18…

And the runners up: 25% of voters would like to help Locke open up that hatch, probably because it would be quicker than waiting around for the writers to show you what’s in the hatch. A solid 13% of you would give Sayid a hand with the transceiver hoping that it would be your best chance off the island no doubt. And just a paltry 6% of you would either help Michael with the raft or help Sun garden. Personally I would rather be in the hatch when it blew up than hang out with Michael under any circumstances. Finally I would like to apologize to disappointed readers that requested “getting caught in a net” with Sawyer (4 write-ins) or Kate (2 write-ins). I should have known that’s there only 1 activity people really want to do on a deserted island. If I was a gambling man I would say that “netting” with Sawyer would have gotten more votes than any girl I could have listed…

The next poll is up and I’m interested in seeing your reaction: When you first saw the episode in which Jack operated on Other Ben’s tumor, did you want Jack to kill him?

Finally, a little bit of house cleaning. I’d like to thank our new readers from some of the new sites linked on the sidebar. If you have a fan site I haven’t listed please let me know and I will link you. I would also like to thank my friend Johnny Dynamite for helping me create the new Finally Lost logo at the top and I will shameless plug his fantastic t-shirt website in thanks.

Next up on Finally Lost, I finished 3 more episodes in Season 3 and I have a bit to say on some of the mistakes the writers made…

Completed: 3-1 A Tale of Two Cities, 3-2 The Glass Ballerina, 3-3 Further Instruction, 3-4 Every Man For Himself. 50 episodes left, 64 days to go. As you know I don’t know anything about this series except that I’ve seen previews that suggest the survivors gets off the island at some point.

Great now there’s 2 islands! Recap: Jack, Sawyer & Kate wake up to find themselves separated and captives of The Others. Jack is kept in an underwater prison by himself while Kate & Sawyer are forced to work the chain gang. At sea Sayid, Sun & Jin set a trap for The Others but it goes wrong and Desmond’s boat is taken and Sun kills Colleen. Back at camp Locke and the hobbit (Charlie) rescue Mr. Eko from a polar bear and Desmond gains the ability to see the future. Locke inspires the survivors by telling them they are going to rescue Jack, Sawyer and Kate.

4 Episodes into season 3 and I’m as confused as ever. Here’s what I know: There is a 2nd island and The Others are living a relatively normal life there until they witness Oceanic Flight 815 rip in half above the island (total mistake by the writers since the plane should have been unseeable at 32,000 ft). Other Ben (since my name is Ben, I feel weird calling him just Ben) assigns an infiltrator to each side of the island and tells them to bring back a list in 4 (NUMBER) days. Apparently visitors drop by magic island so much that there is protocol for this sort of event. Jack is kept in solitude and Other Ben and the Ice Princess (Juliet) try to make nice with him by giving him info on his wife and updating him on current events such as Christopher Reeves dying (was that in 2004?) and the Red Sox winning the world series. BRILLIANT! That scene goes up there with Locke’s wheelchair and Desmond showing up in the hatch as my favorite moments in the series. Meanwhile, Other Ben gives Kate a dress and a nice breakfast and tells her that the next 2 weeks are going to be hard. Why only 2 weeks?? Can’t you people explain anything?? Sawyer on the other hand is left in a cage and after several breakout attempts is told by The Others that they have installed a pacemaker into his body that will kill him if his heart races to0 fast (yes that includes “being caught in a net with Freckles”). Later on Other Ben reveals to Sawyer that the pacemaker was a trick but notes that Sawyer only complied when they threatened Kate and makes an observation about his feelings for Kate. Oh yea and Other Ben reveals they are on a different island!! Did no one notice that there was an Other Island? One with electricity, plumbing, running water and Other Happiness??

Lots of questions on The Others: Why do they stay on the island? How are they getting such good intel on the survivors? Why did they kidnap Jack, Sawyer and Kate? Instead of infiltrating the survivors why not call them a cab and get them rescued?? My best guesses: They don’t want to leave the island because they are continuing what they believe is noble Dharma work. They didn’t help the survivors because they are afraid their rescue would attract too much attention to magic island and they kidnapped Jack so he can perform spinal surgery on Other Ben’s tumor! Sawyer & Kate are chips to make sure Jack does what The Others want. That theory isn’t great because if they have contact with the outside world then why wouldn’t they just bring a surgeon in? Arg!

Back on the boat. Sayid is the man! Of COURSE he figures out The 3 amigo’s have been captured and comes up with a great plan to get them back: kidnap 2 (hurting one will keep the other in line), kill the rest and hostage swap for Jack and company. This brilliant plan hits the skids when it turns out The Others are only interested in the boat which Sun is currently on for safety reasons (woops). You know how the old story goes: girl meets Other, Other makes sudden move, girl shoots Other. As a side note it turns out Sun WAS sleeping with Hotel owner bald guy (name?) and Jin’s boys can’t swim. Could Sun’s baby not be Jin’s?? Oh Sun what were you thinking? I’m also starting to think that Sun’s dad maybe involved with Mr.Widmore. He’s too powerful and too corrupt so he has to be involved right?

Finally, Locke builds a sweat lodge and sees Boone who tells him to rescue Mr. Eko from a Polar Bear. Locke succeeds using the old fire and hairspray-can trick and now all is forgiven between the two. Locke also rallies the troops and makes a speech about how he’s going to rescue Jack & company. This is old news because Desmond already saw this in the future along with the lightening that was going to hit Prego’s shelter. Wait a minute…Desmond saw the future?? What happened to him when he turned that key and how did he survive the explosion?? Maybe he was transported temporarily a few hours into the future and then came back naked? This show HATES giving answers. All I know is I can’t wait for Desmond’s next flashback…

Next up on Finally Lost…Locke goes on a scouting mission to find The Other’s secret island. He’s going to feel right at home when he finds out they grow a lot of hash out there.

p.s. This is the last day to vote on the poll for the reader’s poll. Only 12 votes so far! I’m taking suggestions for the next poll…

Completed: 2-20 Two For the Road, 2-21 ?, 2-22 Three Minutes, 2-23 Live Together, Die Alone. 54 episodes left, 65 days to go. As you know I don’t know anything about this series except that I’ve seen previews that suggest the survivors gets off the island at some point.

Season 2 is now in the books and what an ending. Recap: Dumb-ass Dad is compromised and kills 5-0 (Ana Lucia) & Libby before shooting himself and letting Henry get away. Mr. Eko has a dream about his brother telling him he needs to talk to Locke and they soon find the Big Brother of hatches underneath the Nigerian plane crash site. Sayid realizes Dumb-ass Dad’s (DAD from now on) ruse and makes a plan with Jack to pull a rope-a-dope on The Others and Michael but the plan goes wrong when Jack, Sawyer, Kate & Hurley are kidnapped. Back at the hatch Desmond shows Locke how to simulate a lockdown and locks out Mr. Eko so he can let the countdown hit 000. Desmond realizes at the last minute that this is a bad idea and uses the failsafe key to the hatch.

Where to begin?? Let’s pour out a little airplane-sized liquor for Ana Lucia & Libby. I never liked Ana but she was starting to grow on me after she decided to “getting caught in a net” with Sawyer in order to steal his gun. Libby’s death was much more tragic and Hurley’s grief was summed up when he told her, “I’m sorry I forgot the blankets”. Tear. I’m very surprised they killed Libby without resolving the fact that her and Hurley were in the same institution and without resolving the fact that she gave Desmond his sailboat! I’m not going to spend much time on DAD but it’s safe to say that I hate him and hope he drowns to death several times. AND PLEASE STOP YELLING! While we’re on the subject of characters I don’t like, how about the hobbit (Charlie) stealing all the vaccine and giving it to Prego and Devil Baby (Aaron) just so he can try and “get caught in a net” with her.

Then there is the new hatch. So it appears there are 6 hatches on the island and 1 of those hatches is a spy hatch. We are led to believe whatever is happening in the other hatches are just psychological experiments. Locke believes this is true while Mr. Eko believes the real work is being done in the non Big Brother hatch. I agreed with Locke and like Locke was I proven wrong. Before we get to the timer, there is so much ground to cover on Desmond. Desmond goes to prison and writes his gf Penny but her dad makes sure his letters aren’t delivered. When Desmond gets out of jail the father offers him money to leave his daughter alone. Desmond declines the money, gets a free boat from Libby and enter’s Penny’s father’s race around the world and ends up on the island to become the next button pusher with the army guy Sayid was working with in Iraq. PREDICTION: Penny’s dad is SO pulling the strings here! He’s not the CEO but I think he’s one level below the big bad. Back at the hatch, Desmond uses Locke’s printout to discover that HE caused Oceanic Flight 815 to crash because the crash took place when Desmond let the countdown go past 000!! The electromagnetic thing on the island must have ripped apart the plane! Still no explanation on how everyone survived but I believe it’s coming.

Now back to Jack, Sawyer, Kate & Hurley. I think Kate had it right when she said that The Others are only pretending to be feet baring and living worse than the plane survivors. I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole village DAD saw was just to trick people into underestimating The Others. It seems really important to The Others that they tell people they are good and keep their word because Henry (like Ethan before him) kept making that point. I also find it interesting that he told DAD that he must drive the boat on a specific course in order to be rescued. Somehow this island must be cloaked from the rest of the world and The Others know how to get off of it. This must be why Desmond couldn’t escape the island in his boat. Luckily for Desmond and the survivors, Penny seems to know a little about this stuff and is trying to find the EM disturbance. Help maybe coming. Meanwhile Hurley is let go so he can give a warning to the rest of the survivors and we are left to ponder what will happen to Jack, Sawyer & Kate (or at least I am since you already know).

So much happened in these 5 episodes and I wasn’t able to note them all so I wanted to bullet a few things I thought were important:
- It’s interesting that The Others wanted Michael’s blood. I think Walt has some genetic gift/immunity they want/need which is why they kidnapped him in the first place
- Henry seems to be the local leader of The Others, too bad the survivors didn’t know what they had captured
- In Mr. Eko’s flashback we learn that Prego’s psychic is a fraud and was paid 16K (NUMBER) dollars by a couple in LA to mislead her into given the couple her baby. Knowing this show, the couple will probably turn out to be important
- What is up with the statue with 4 toes that Sayid saw. Reminded me of the Colossus
- It appears there are 6 hatches on the island but that isn’t a magic number. Maybe there is one hatch to rule them all plus the ?-mark in the middle which would make 8.

And finally the end of a season means I need to come up with new Season 3 predictions (some of which I’ve already said):
- After being wrong about aliens I’m going to say the island is a gov project that utilize the strange but natural EM properties.
- The EM properties give the island the power to heal, the cloaking ability and I think some time travel ability
- Mr. Eko will die in season 3. Someone has to die and he seems the right combination of main character but not too main.
- Penny will show up on the island before the end of Season 3
- Michael won’t abandon the survivors and will return to the island (but I hope him and Walt are eaten by sharks)

Next up on Finally Lost…Season 3!!

Completed: 2-15, Maternity Leave, 2-16 The Whole Truth, 2-17, Lockdown, 2-18 Dave, 2-19 S.O.S. 59 episodes left, 65 days to go.As you know I don’t know anything about this series except for I’ve seen previews that suggest the survivors gets off the island at some point. Recap: Prego (Claire) goes searching for the vaccine when devil baby (Aaron) gets sick and begins to remember what happened to her while she was kidnapped; Henry gives 5-0 (Ana) and Sayid a map to his ballon but they discover he killed and took on the owner’s identity; Henry tells Locke he didn’t enter the code in the computer; food drops out of the sky; we learn that Hurley had an imaginary friend; and Rose and White Bernard have an argument about making an S.O.S sign.

Just when I stopped wondering what happened to Prego when she was captured, they pull me right back in…we got answers! So in addition to being an impersonator and tracker, Ethan is also a part-time doctor. A drugged up and giddy Prego decides The Others really have her babies best interest in mind and she decides to leave devil baby with them so it can continue to receive the already sparse vaccine. I’ve ignored the island sickness plot so far because like on every other plot point, I’m clueless. The existence of a vaccine suggests there IS something about magic island that gets you sick and The Others have a protection against it. If we accept that as fact then The Others must not want new recruit devil baby sick, however, they unfortunately decide that Prego isn’t worth the secret stash and plan to kill her. Prego then gets good-drugged by Frenchy’s daughter and is left out in the woods to escape. Prego, still drugged up, tries to screw up the rescue attempt but Frenchy the mom shows up and knocks her out (giving Prego amnesia) and completes the mother-daughter rescue. Why haven’t The Others come after devil baby since? Maybe they decided Walt was the better quarry. If there is a sickness on the island then why haven’t any of the survivors gotten sick yet? Maybe you can only contract the sickness at a certain location on the island and let’s face it, the survivor’s of Oceanic Flight 815 have not exactly been great magic island explorers (Locke being the exception).

The rest of the episodes I watched were great character drivers but didn’t move the main plot forward much. Before we learn that devious Henry was impersonating someone he killed, he tries to fulfill Locke’s request of putting the numbers into the computer. After Henry is discovered as a fraud, he tells Locke that he didn’t enter the numbers into the computer after-all which shakes Locke to the core. Is this true? Henry had less than a minute (the last minute alarm sound had started) to get through the vent and enter the numbers so I don’t think he did. Do The Others already know about the computer? I think they do. And what was that crazy octagonal (NUMBER) design on star wars blast door? I paused my DVD and starred at it for a while and I think it’s a design of all the Dharma facilities out there. Maybe when combined they form…a time machine! I told you I’d use that theory. I’m also thinking that time travels differently on the island and when/if the survivors get off they will find that a lot more time has passed in the real world than on the island. Maybe this contributed to how Locke and Rose got healed. Time will tell…

Now onto the character front. We find out Hurley went crazy because he broke a dock and killed 23 (NUMBER) people and now sees Charlotte’s husband from Sex and the City in Beautiful Mind style (Was it obvious to everyone he wasn’t there). Hurley is told by his imaginary friend to jump off the cliff so he can wake back up because it’s pretty ridiculous that the numbers he heard in the loony bin contributed to him winning $130M, that they shouldn’t have survived the plane crash and no pretty girl is going to be interested in him. Tear. Because of all the strange things that have happened to Hurley he is the perfect character for the “this island is all in your dreams” plot line. Once Libby saves him Hurley from himself we find out SHE was in the hospital with Hurley. AHH! Why won’t these people talk to each other about their past!!

Can’t forget about Sun and Rose! Turns out Sun is pregnant (don’t worry everyone is keeping their current nicknames) and learned english from suave hotel owner. We also learn that Jin’s boys can’t swim but like everything else on this island it is magically healed and he was able to knock Sun up. And speaking of healed, Rose claims she healed for real for real this time despite lying to White Bernard after he took her to some great healer in Australia. It’s great that Rose seems to be the only person that knows Locke was in a wheelchair on the plane and they share a common bond of being healed. Thinking that Rose will only be healed on the island (because time flows differently there?) White Bernard and Rose decide to stay and play Gilligan no matter what happens. It will be interesting to see if they actually stay when/if the survivors are rescued.

Next up on Finally Lost…The return of the dumb-ass dad! Forgot to mention that Jack wanted to prisoner swap Henry for Walt but found Michael instead!

p.s. I almost peed myself in the one scene when Sawyer used every nickname he had for Hurley…Stay Puff, Jaba, Pillsbury, Rerun…

Completed: 2-8 Collision, 2-9 What Kate Did, 2-10 The 23rd Psalm. 68 episodes left, 67 days to go.

We get our first Ana & Mr. Eko flashbacks and we finally learn what Kate did. Let’s start with Collision, the episode where Ana keeps Sayid tied up. I seriously wanted to strangle 5-0 (Ana Lucia’s new nickname) during this episode. She is so uncompromising and unwilling to listen to reason. She told Bernard that she kept him alive, but the lives of the other 19 tailgaters were lost in some part due to her poor leadership. At least she makes the right decision in the end and let’s Sayid go. On a lighter note, Jin goes home to Sun and has the physical/metaphorical handcuff removed. It’s going to be great to see Jin evolve as a character now that he will begin to learn english.

Now onto our girl Freckles (Kate). After a little rough touch nursing incident (Sawyer choking Kate), Kate decides to run off and get spooked by a horse. Is it real? Who the hell knows on this island! (It is later confirmed as read) BUT we FINALLY get to the bottom of Kate’s story and….we have a prediction winner. Cut to me your humble blogger host doing a solo fist pump (that’s what she said) and texting a friend bragging how right I was….Kate killed her dad! Never mind my invisible dino and alien island creation predictions looks rather poor at the moment. Who cares that my prediction record has historically resembled the Washington Generals (or Redskins for that matter)…I got one right! Or half right since it sounds like Kate was never molested, which makes her motive all the more intriguing…she didn’t want to be from someone that evil. I’m glad we finally got to meet General Dad (Kate’s dad) and I can’t help but think the onion’s going to peeled back on him a bit more. This episode also gives us some more insight into the Sawyer-Kate-Jack love triangle. Jack & Kate finally kiss but it’s a total party foul on Jack due to Sawyer’s condition, due to the fact he told Jack he loves Kate and after Sawyer did Jack such a solid by telling him about his dad. To make matters even more confusing, Kate tells Sawyer that it reminds her of Wayne (dead biological daddy) when she has feelings for him and it makes her sick. Sawyer picks that moment to have a Lazarus reawakening. There’s no WAY Kate is picking Jack, it’s Sawyer all the way…

After learning about Kate we finally get some info on our pal Mr. Eko. How cool is he?? Mr. Eko saves his brother the trouble of killing the town priest and goes all Blood Diamond and becomes a hardcore drug trafficker. In part 423 of the infinite part series of “I don’t believe in Lost coincidences”, Boone’s downed plane turns out to be Eko’s plane and the dead are his old partners and brother!! Didn’t see that coming! Is EVERYTHING in this show going to come back full circle?? For now I’ll throw it in the closest with Locke’s wheelchair and Boone’s distress call. The jungle and burial scene was great TV (or DVD) but I was hoping for Charlie to burn the heroin. Instead he takes all the statues and doesn’t explain himself well to Prego, who promptly tells him to find some other piece of charred plane and canopy to call home.

Mr. Eko doesn’t just shine is his flashback…he also gives the missing film to Locke. This must mean we’re about to find out more about the hatch?? Nope…just more questions. Don’t feed gremlins after midnight and don’t use the computer for anything else but the code! Cut to Dumb-ass Dad (Michael) talking to Walt on the computer! So The Other’s have a computer?? They must if they have a boat. Why haven’t The Other’s gone into the hatch already?? They are too skilled to not have broken in. Maybe this Walt thing is a ruse (your cunning attempt to trick me) to get into the hatch and get at the computer. And as far as the “incident” referred to on the film…er maybe..er…some other operators screwed up before and they blew up another island somewhere.? Did I mention I got the Kate thing right!! One thing is for sure, I agree Locke, it does not seem like a coincidence that the plane broke in 2 and both groups were able to discover pieces to the film. Finally a note on Walt’s ghost, how sad was it that we find out that Sayid could see Walt in the jungle when Sticks (Shannon) got shot? Just when he finds out she is telling the truth, she dies and he can never tell her she’s not crazy. Tear.

Next up on Finally Lost…Dumb-ass Dad goes solo and tries to rescue Walt??

Say hello to the winners of the “who is your favorite character poll”…Sawyer and Sayid. Before we look at the favorite characters lets look at who didn’t get any votes:
- Jack: I guess he really does cry to much for his own good. No one voted for the fearless leader! It’s like teenage mutant ninja turtles, everyone loves Michelangelo and Rafael but there’s no love for Leonardo. All Jack’s done is keep the survivors together, safe and given them hope. Plus he has a sick golf game.
- Kate: This surprised me more than anything else. I thought we’d have SOME Kate lovers. She’s a hott bad ass rebel with a heart of gold. She can fight, track, shoot and steal, what’s not to love about Kate?? Who else could manipulate a gang to rob a bank for a toy airplane??
- Charlie: Everyone’s not so favorite junky rockstar. I agree with this non pick. While I like Charlie he hasn’t really done anything that stands out. He is an underachiever among superstars (Locke, Sayid, Kate, Jack, Sawyer I’m looking at you). His codependence on Prego is pretty annoying and someone needs to tell him that he is not Aaron’s dad.
- Prego (Claire): I like Claire, I just don’t love her. I do however love the psychic story line so I’m hoping the writers take her character somewhere beyond the crying mom that’s always defending her baby.
- Boone: He probably died too early in the series for people to really get attached to. Then there was the thing where his banged his hott step sister. Not sure if that helps or hurts his cause. Props for being Locke’s understudy, getting seriously injured while on the plane radio and for accepting his death in order to conserve the already scarce medicine.
- Sticks (Shannon): You all know she is not my favorite character. Sadly she also died too early (my bad). She could have made a comeback with the whole looking for Walt mission but I think it was too little to late.
- Michael: The character I hate most. What’s most frustrating is I only hate him when he’s dealing with Walt. If he’s looking for Walt or talking to Walt I want him to moonwalk right into the defense mechanism/invisible dino. When he’s playing with the adults (raft building time with Sawyer & Jin) then I really like Michael. Plus points for building the raft, minus points for bailing on your kid shortly after he was born.
- Walt: It was going to be really hard for the kid to get some votes. You got to like the fact that everything seems to go his way except of course when he gets kidnapped by The Others. I’m hoping he gets rescued and becomes more of an interesting character.
- Sun: I’m pretty shocked that no one voted for her. I think Sun is such a deep and intriguing character. She runs a garden, learns english on the sly and stays with her husband even though it may not be the best choice at the time. I forgot to put Jin up there and I hope he would have gotten at least one vote. He seems to be loyal to Michael and Sawyer and he still loves Sun. I’m looking forward to Jin developing as a more complete and beloved character.

Now onto the characters that did receive votes:
- Hurley (2 votes): Known best by the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 for creating a golf course and hosting junkfood-thanksgiving, Hurley is probably the most well liked survivor. Add the ingredients that he can’t keep a secret, is worth a $130M, and knows about the numbers, and you have a lovable character.
- Someone I haven’t met yet (3 votes): I’m going to go out on a limb here and say this is either Mr. Ed (Eko) or Desmond. I don’t know much about Desmond but Eko rocks. He saved my favorite character (Sawyer) and doesn’t listen to Mean Bitch (Ana). I also love that he gave up speaking for 40 days.
- Locke (3 votes): John Locke, the man, the myth, the legend. Conned out of a kidney by his own father, crippled for a so far unexplained reason, un-crippled for a so far unexplained reason, master hunter, master tracker, hatch discoverer, hatch opener and of course ALWAYS knows what is troubling the survivors (and often helps them through it). Minus points for the preachy faith thing, otherwise full fledge bad ass.

And the WINNERS are (2-way tie):
- Sayid: I think I know why people love Sayid. He’s tough, he always knows what to do and he’s always fixing some ridiculous electronic device. He tends to fly off the handle a bit but that’s just part of his charm. I have high hopes for Sayid. I’m still holding out hope that he will meet his great Iraqi love if (when?) they get off the island. I also think he will be a key contributor because he’ll fix some yet to be seen device to get them to safety. Sayid you are a winner!

- Sawyer
My favorite character. He’s the survivor you are supposed to hate but like Kate you can’t help falling in love. Like every misunderstood bad boy with a complicated and tragic past, he tries to do the right thing when you least expect it (telling Jack about his father, attempting to protect Walt). He also shares my hobbies of nicknames and doesn’t let the fact that he’s on a deserted island get in the way of him having the exact amount of bad boy scruff. Looking forward to Sawyer becoming more domesticated with Kate as the show moves along…

Thanks to everyone that voted in the poll and please vote on the next Poll: If you were stuck on the island you would most likely be found doing which activity:….
