Schecter c1 series

The Schecter c1 series took the world of guitar by storm a few years ago. Schecter is a very diverse brand producing such guitars as the schecter 7 and hellraiser. How does the schecter c1 series match up to other guitars? Check the review below to see some of the advatanges of the schecter c1 series.

The 25 1/2″ Schecter C1 Hellraiser has a classic mahogany body. The schecter hellraiser is armed with the EMG active 81/85 pickup combination. Coming in two colors cherry and black this is a highly specialized guitar for serious metal players. Click here for a full schecter hellraiser c1 review.

The schecter c1 classic looks a little bit like a stratocaster however it plays much more like a Jackson but can sound like both. Featuring a mahogany body and Seymour Duncan JB [bridge], Seymour Duncan ‘59 [neck] pickups the guitar aims at a much more classic sound than the schecter hellraiser. Don’t underestimate this guitar though it can give a blow. Sometimes sounding quite like a les paul, this guitar is the ultimate combination between a jazzy and rocky sound.  Using 24 jumbo frets with a rosewood fingerboard the schecter c1 classic feels so smooth you don’t ever want to stop playing.

The schecter c1 fr is a real super strat. Carrying a mahogany body and  duncan designed HB-103’s the guitar can play a large variety of music. I personally play anything from Eric Clapton to slayer on it. The 24 Jumbo frets and rosewood fingerboard make it have a very smooth feel. Not quite like a strat but not quite like a les paul. The Floyd Rose was wonderful to play. If you are thinking to buy schecter guitars than the schecter c1 fr is definitively one to check out if you are a more serious player.

Schecter guitar research started in the early seventies as a guitar repair company.  Schecter has come a long way since then and a few weeks ago I ordered my own schecter guitar. I play quite a bit of metal so I was doubting between a schecter 7, a schecter hellraiser or a schecter c1 classic. I eventually went with the schecter c1.

When I opened the box I was so excited about my new schecter c1. It looked beautiful. Nothing about the guitar was damaged or missing. With its mahogany body and rosewood fingerboard it felt amazing.

Playability and sound
The feel of the guitar was reason enough for me to recommend any serious guitar player to buy schecter. The rosewood fingerboard and jumbo frets feel so smooth yet produce such a distinct sound its unreal. When using one pickup the guitar sounds almost jazzy but when the volume is maxed out this guitar can really rock!

Where to buy schecter?
I personally spent a loong time looksing for where to buy schecter online. A lot of music stores online are quite shabby and have horrible refund policies. I’m sure there are good online music stores but I personally chose amazone music over any others. Amazone is really a store that has proved itself to be trustworthy over th e years and when I ordered I had no problems.

Schecter Stiletto Extreme 4 review

Before manufacturing its own electric and bass guitars, Schecter made spare parts for other renowned guitar manufacturers. Those times are long gone and now Schecter makes high-quality original models at affordable prices. Today, we will test a bass guitar called the Stiletto Extreme 4…Quickly looking at Schecter’s catalog, you’ll notice that the brand offers a pretty wide range of instruments including modern-looking models, as well as more classic lines that recall the shape of some Fenders and Rickenbackers. Nevertheless, the latter are no cheap copies: they have their own specifications and do distinguish themselves from the original models. There is certainly something for everyone and almost every model has a 4 or 5-string version.

Among all these models, there’s a bass guitar series called Stiletto which combines a light body and a comfortable neck. This series includes five different models: Studio, Elite, Extreme, Deluxe, and Custom. We received the Extreme 4 (4-string version) in Black Cherry finish.

Conclusion

This bass guitar made in China is a nice surprise when it comes to finish and manufacturing quality. The body with its Black Cherry translucent finish looks wonderful. The instrument is well balanced and the neck feels very comfortable. The Extreme 4 is impeccable until you plug it into an amp. Its sound is not amazing, it’s just the kind of sound you can expect for the price. Both pickups provide a high output level but they sound too similar and somewhat dull. The balance control doesn’t provide enough sound variations and you’ll have to resort to the more effective EQ to shape the sound.  In short: it’s a nice small bass guitar which deserves better pickups.

Advantages:

• Beautiful translucent Black Cherry color
• Effective EQ
• Ergonomically shaped body
• Comfortable neck

Drawbacks:

• Both pickups sound too similar

If you’re an Avenged Sevenfold fan, 3 words… buy this guitar! (unless you’re lefty, then buy the Zacky V. one) However, this guitar is not just for A7X fans! It’s actually quite good for playing all sorts of metal and punk (although the look is distinctively Avenged Sevenfold).

I’ve been playing for 5 years now.. I own a Fernandes Ravelle Elite, a Fender 50’s Stratocaster Reissue, and a Jackson DXMG… a Marshall TSL60 and a Line 6 Spider II. This guitar is really perfect for shredding.. the neck construction, heel contour, frets, and 25.5″ scale really lend themselves to playing very very fast. Just watch a video of Synyster Gates playing…

Recap: Mahogany and Ebony, USA Seymour Duncan Pickups, Original Floyd Rose bridge… great looking finish.. excellent sound and playability. All for under $1000.

This is one of my go-to patches for demoing gear, using components from Amplitube 2 and Amplitube Fender. Since it’s in the spirit of the series of posts I figured I’d remark a bit on it here. I’m using Amplitube 2’s Deluxe Memory Man model, and Amplitube Fender’s Twin RI and its matching cabinet, though I’ve adjusted the cabinet sim portion to run in parallel with two different microphones to capture the sound more “fully.” Not a big deal for cleans, but for distortion very important, especially for higher gain distortion; the sound at one mic position is very low-bandwidth otherwise, and usually too focused for my tastes. I’ll post the patch up tomorrow if anyone’s interested. I first made it for demoing the Marshall-in-a-Box pedals, and I figure why fix what isn’t broken! The premise is the same: if a pedal can make a Fender sound like a Marshall, it’s doing something cool. Here, if a pedal can make a Fender sound like a Mesa, it’s doing something cool.

This is a picture of the prototype. I’ll post a picture of my actual unit tomorrow; my wife and I couldn’t find our camera, it’s out in the car but it’s too dark to see so I’ll get it in the morning. The layout is identical but the color is not.

Wampler Triple Recstortion

I happened to get one in for an upcoming FrugalGuitarist feature I’ve got planned, a Mesa-in-a-Box roundup. This limited edition of 100 actually already sold out in the few days that it’s been available, but Brian replaced the order dialog on the web site with a comment box and the following statement:

Two clips. First a setting that was to my tastes and some tasteless wanking. The settings for this clip were Level to unity (by the way, there’s plenty of volume on this pedal, you won’t have trouble adjusting the output), Gain at 3 o’clock, Treble at slightly before noon, Midrange between 10 and 11 o’clock, Low Contour at 2 o’clock, “Modern” mode.

Second, adjusting the pedal through a bunch of different settings on the fly, including different EQ adjustments. I start on the Vint. mode and switch it to the Modern mode later in the clip. At the start the Gain is at its lowest setting.

For over a year I’ve been planning the purchase of a new guitar. I love my Gibson SG, but as my musical taste started to expand I wanted something with a little more range and flexibility to accommodate any style I wished to play in the future. After a bit of research I stumbled upon the guitar brand Schecter and was quite impressed by their guitars. I started to save up little by little and finally, today, I got to reap the rewards of my patience.

Since a good percentage of what I play is metal I decided I would pursue a 7 string, to give me more options when performing and playing. My final decision was a Schecter Hellraiser C-7 FR; which has 7 strings, 24 frets, a Floyd Rose Original, and a great sense of style.

I had actually never played the guitar before, so today was my first experience with it. It took me a few minutes to get used to it since the frets feel quite different than the Gibson I had been using, and of course the 7th string took some getting used to. Before long though, I had gotten comfortable with it’s shape and was chugging on some heavy metal riffs. I have to say I’ve been quite impressed with it so far. I feel much faster when I play on it, some shred riffs that had been tripping me up a few days ago I played with much more ease, and alternate picking is an absolute joy. The tone is quite pleasing (despite some negative criticisms I had heard about EMG pickups), and the low end sounds of the 7th string are endlessly entertaining. What can I say? This guitar met my expectations and then some.

5.)  Paul Gilbert – Amazing technical rock  guitarist. He can throw down some of the most insane string skipping licks I’ve ever come across, has insane picking chops, legato and tapping are great. An all around great guitar player. Ranked at number 5 simply because he doesn’t write in my style of choice, and I do like his writing style alot, but I don’t love it.

4.) Synyster Gates – The youngest guy here by a long shot. I know alot of people hate Avenged Sevenfold for reasons I can’t seem to comprehend, so we wont even go there. Fact of the matter is, he can fucking play. Great sweeping and alternate picking chops. What really impresses me about him is the fact that everything he does is so tasteful and out of the ordinary. When he plays fast it’s rarely a typical shred pattern and his jazz influence comes through, which is awesome.

3.) Chris Broderick – Most of you have probably heard of him now since he is the new guitarist in Megadeth, so you probably know that he is one badass shredder. Broderick plays 7-string guitars exclusively, which is fantastic. He can play everything from metal to jazz to classical (true classical guitar) and everything else under the sun it seems. Most impressive is his 8-finger tapping, although he does have some serious chops all around the board. The thing that most stands out to me is his amazing versatility.

2.) John Petrucci – Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands. and I think every guitarist out there has heard of John Petrucci. The fact that he does all of the crazy odd meters and unisions with keyboard in Dream Theater are a really unique part of his sound. He is a great alternate picker, and what I love about his picking is that he picks with authority. He really pounds his strings, and his tone is better because of it. He is also a guy that is always learning new things as you can hear throughout his career with Dream Theater. Truly one of the greats.

1.) Rusty Cooley – Probably the fastest shredder out there today, by alot. He can alternate pick like a motherfucker, has the most insane sweeping chops I’ve ever seen, has a very unique tapping style and has, in my opinion, more impressive legato technique that Allan Holdsworth. Other things Cooley excels are his wide stretch licks and odd rhythms that were inspired by Shawn Lane, four finger per string licks, and just generally pwning everyone that has ever picked up a guitar at everything. He also has great phrasing and is incredibly melodic, what could be better?

Przeważającą część dnia poświęcam na grę na gitarze i tu chciałbym opowiedzieć o wszystkim co z tym związane odnośnie mojej osoby.
Można łatwo wywnioskować ze zdjęcia zamieszczonego pod nazwą mojego bloga iż mam coś wspólnego z instrumentem jakim jest gitara elektryczna. Zdjęcie przedstawia gitarę elektryczną marki Schecter model “Demon”, którą posiadam od ponad roku.

KOCHAM grać na gitarze ponieważ pozwala mi ona wylać z siebie wszelkie kotłujące się we mnie emocje i mysli.
Cała przygoda zaczęła się w gimnazjum kiedy to jeden z moich przyjaciół Przemysław Ł. zaczął słuchać muzyki zespołu Iron Maiden. Na początku byłem nastawiony do takiej muzyki z lekkim niesmakiem ponieważ w owym czasie słuchałem techno podobnie jak reszta mało rozwiniętych smarkaczy. Po jakimś czasie poprosiłem kumpla o nagranie mi płytki z kilkoma kawałkami Iron Maiden. Z kilkoma ponieważ dane mi było cieszyć się jedynie swoim małym boombox-em z którego miałem niezmierną radochę bo w końcu mogłem odtwarzać płyty CD . Słuchałem, słuchałem i zaczęło mnie to ruszać. Przed i w czasie kiedy słuchałem techno, radowałem swoje uszy muzyką klasyczną więc nie miałem do końca spaczonego umysłu ciężkimi basami jakimi wali w człowieka “muzyka” techno. A co za tym idzie łatwiej przysposabiałem sobie muzykę klasy zespołu Iron Maiden.

Następnie przyszedł czas kiedy wspomniany już wcześniej kolega Przemysław Ł. zaraził się grą na gitarze od naszego wspólnego (młodszego) kolegi Adama K. . A co za tym szło? Ja również zamarzyłem sobie grać na gitarze. Tak więc pożyczyłem od Przemka starego akustyka jego ojca. Początki jak każdy kto kiedykolwiek zabierał się za grę na gitarze wie były ciężkie. Tym bardziej iż owy akustyk był (że tak go nazwę) odrobinę toporny. Kanciasty gryf, struny zdecydowanie za wysoko jak dla początkującego gitarzysty. Bywały dni kiedy z zacięciem próbowałem nauczyć się jakiegoś prostego kawałka lub choćby melodyjki, lecz mój brak wprawy w samej grze jak i brak wytrenowanych palców nie pozwalały mi na to. Co za tym idzie strasznie się denerwowałem bo po kilkunastu, czasem po kilku minutach “gry” niemiłosiernie bolały mnie opuszki palców z których w międzyczasie schodziła skóra. Moim sposobem na przedłużenie gry o kilka minut było nakładanie na lewą rękę skórzanej rękawiczki mojej mamy . Po mniej więcej roku “gry” na akustyku taty kumpla przyszła pora na zakup swojej pierwszej gitary. Pojechałem pewnego południa z Przemkiem i jego bratem Szymonem do dość nowego sklepu muzycznego “Allegro”. W tymże sklepie dokonałem zakupu swojej pierwszej gitary   Był to Cruiser by Crafter za którego dałem około 390 zł:

Byłem w niebo wzięty. Moja pierwsza gitara! Elektryczna! Taka ładna! Błyszczący lakier i w ogóle szok! Sprzdałem ją ponad rok temu dla kolegi Radka K. którego również uczę grać.   Niedługo po zakupie zapisałem się na naukę gry na gitarze do pana Przemysława, gitarzysty zespołu Bright Ophidia. Nauka trwała około dziesięciu miesięcy. Zacząłem we wrześniu a skończyłem w czerwcu. Wiele zawdzięczam panu Przemkowi bo jak to nauczyciel wiele mnie nauczył . Osobiście uważam że nauka gry na gitarze bez prowodyra na starcie jest bardzo nieefektywna. Po ukończeniu nauki pod przewodnictwem pana Przemysława latałem już sobie na własną rękę. Ćwiczenia w określonym harmonogramie, o określonej porze, dzień w dzień. Grałem wówczas na wzmacniaczu marki Technics podłączonym do dwóch 200 watowych kolumn.   Używałem przesteru marki BOSS DS-1 pożyczonego od Przemka. Sam nie mam zielonego pojęcia dlaczego przestałem ćwiczyć. Nie ćwiczę już chyba od ponad półtorej roku (może nawet więcej), co z pewnością wpływa negatywnie na postęp mojej gry lecz dzięki nauce wszystkiego co wpadnie mi w ucho i odkrywanie nowych możliwości jakie daje gitara dla własnej twórczości idę do przodu. Udzielam również  lekcji gry dla przyjaciół. Obecnie nie jestem w stanie powiedzieć z precyzją jak od jak dawna gram ale jest to okres mniej więcej 4-5 lat.

We wrześniu 2008 zadzwonił do mnie Łysy z pytaniem czy chciałbym grać w zakładanym przez niego zespole. Po jego telefonie umówiliśmy się na próbę. Był to czwartek i umówiliśmy się na dworcu PKS gdyż próba odbyć się miała w miejscowości Rafałówka. Tam poznałem jeszcze wokalistę zaprzyjaźnionego nam obecnie innego zespołu i naszego klawiszowca. Niestety nigdy nie mogę zapamiętać nazwy tego “innego” zespołu . I tak gramy sobie od września ubiegłego roku. Mamy trochę problemów ze skompletowaniem kompetentnego i zaufanego składu dlatego pomimo naszego potencjału i stworzonych już kawałków nie możemy się jeszcze oficjalnie nazwać zespołem. I tak wygląda póki co moja przygoda z gitarą, z tym co kocham.   Widzę przed sobą i naszym bandem bardzo szerokie perspektywy

The L Word premiere party at Adonis was exciting as well as infuriating. Overall I had a good time, but there were some low points. At least I had good company to bitch to.

First of all, much to my dismay, I discovered that this event was a Human Rights Campaign fundraiser when I received an e-mail from Impact Cincinnati promoting The L Word premiere party, with a $10 suggested donation. I am all about equality of all people, but HRC just fails. Not only are they assimilationist and corporate, they also abandoned transpeople when it looked like an all inclusive ENDA would not pass (ENDA is the Employment Non-Discrimination Act that would protect LGBT people in the workplace. When it looked like this legislation wouldn’t pass, HRC dropped the BT from the proposed legislation, which still failed after the amending.). HRC also spearheaded the “No on Prop. 8″ campaign, and yet again they failed. 

Once up to the register the man asked me for $10. I asked him if it went to HRC and when he confirmed, I explained that I don’t support HRC and I didn’t want to give them my money. He said “Well, it is $10 to get in.” I then explained that it shouldn’t be called a suggested donation if you have to pay it. I then handed over my raffle ticket that I was asked to fill out, hoping to at least win a prize.

Then we funneled into Adonis, lesbians as far as the eye can see. And that’s really saying something considering that Adonis is a sprawling night club. I mean, this place is huge. They have three separate bars and over 500 people attend this event annually, so you can imagine how large it is.

We walked past the spread of Subway and grabbed some sandwiches as we mingled. I literally saw just about every woman I have met on the queer scene at this event. Even prominent gay bar owners and bartenders were there. I am sure that every other gay bar in the city was closed because I saw all of their staffs at Adonis.

Moving back to the main stage, we maneuvered some seating in the front row. Much to my surprise some tribal fusion belly dancers took to the stage with a tray of candles. They were amazing. The trio of women, called Folie a Trois, danced with the candles on their head. You really can’t imagine how impressed I was with these dancers. One did a traditional cane dance only performed by men, and at one point she balanced the cane on her head. Watch the videos at the to get a sample of this.

Then I saw the Black Mondays perform. They are by far the best professional drag troupe I have ever seen. I have only seen comparable performances at the International Drag King Extravaganza. Anyway, they did some numbers I had never seen as well as some new one, such as Saliva’s “Ladies and Gentleman” to open the show and a sexy final number complete with corsets and stockings. 

The Black Mondays also performed “Getting Away With Murder” by Papa Roach, where James Bondage masquerades as George W. Bush. He steals Florida, partners with the INS to deport people and rips America apart. This number saw it’s last performance that night, as Bush is soon to be out of office. For a little taste, see the videos at the end.

We later moved to the main dance floor that was transformed into a theater for the final premiere of The L Word. Of course, we could not view the show without a little HRC propaganda session. Most people were dozing off while an HRC representative explained what HRC does. I mostly dozed off, as she was explaining that similar events were going on in 35 other cities across the nation for HRC, and it wasn’t until the trivia contest that I got really fired up.

HRC’s local director grabbed the mic and started talking about her wife. They had recently married in California and were anxious about the state of their marriage. As soon as I laid eyes upon them I knew exactly why they worked with HRC: these two women were blondes, thin, feminine, normative- and professional-appearing; there couldn’t be better assimilationist poster-children. 

The trivia contest consisted of L Word facts with HRC gear as prizes, except two things: one was an L Word poster and the other was a free psychic reading, which I won.

Then, it was announced that our $10 “donation” at the door was our year-long membership pledge. Oh, and the raffle ticket we filled out at the door was actually a sign-up for our membership. Isn’t that great? Tricked into being a member of HRC, I was severely displeased.

Following the HRC briefing, the screening of The L Word commenced with a dead Jenny. That’s right, Jenny. The character that the show is built around has been killed off for the final season of The L Word. The rest of the episode was all flashback, seemingly leading up to the explanation of Jenny’s death later in the season.

The highlight of the premiere was when Jenny told Niki off. After a little revenge sex for sleeping with Shane, Jenny told Niki that it in fact was not she who broke her heart, leading us all to believe that it was Shane that Jenny really loved. And although this wasn’t the best episode ever, it was still exciting to see the show that I waited months to see.

The screening was a unique experience for me. I had never been among hundreds of L Word fans while watching an episode of the show, and hearing the crowd’s reactions just reinforced how epic this show is for lesbians. Laughs, cheers and claps punctuated the highlights of the show; I was overwhelmed by the feeling of solidarity I experienced that night.

After The L Word I redeemed my psychic reading, which was very intriguing. She was actually pretty accurate with her reading. She accurately told me of the burn I received on my hand when I was a child (there is no visible scar anymore), that I my grandfather kept birds and that I just started a new job. She also advised me to play the lottery in March.

Overall, the evening was entertaining and spent in good company, but it would have been better without HRC being rammed down my throat. I would say that there is always next year, but seeing as this is the final season, I can only hope for a spin off.

Other than that, it was okay.
