MONTREAL — Montreal is back on the Formula One schedule for five years — thanks to more

MONTREAL — Montreal is back on the Formula One schedule for five years — thanks to more than $70 million in public money.

Mayor Gerald Tremblay and federal and provincial politicians said at a news conference Friday an agreement is in place for the race to be held in city from 2010 to 2014.

The race had been held at Montreal’s Gilles-Villeneuve track every year since 1978 before being dropped in 2009. It was scrapped after a financial dispute between local authorities and racing impresario Bernie Ecclestone. Ecclestone had wanted $165 million to keep the race in Montreal. The decision was a blow to civic pride, coming after Montreal lost its major league baseball team and its status as Canada’s business capital.

The federal government and Montreal’s tourism bureau will each contribute in $24 million over five years, while the province will spend $19 million and the municipal government nearly $5 million.”We’re in pole position for June 13, 2010,” Tremblay said, announcing the date of the next race.

The Formula One event draws wealthy tourists from all over the world and has provided an annual boost to businesses. Quebec says that of the 300,000 spectators at the race, 25 percent are from outside the province. The province says the event is responsible for $84 million in economic benefits and Quebec will collect more than $9 million in additional tax revenues every year because of the race.

I’ve also designed a 2010 Planner, which includes color-coded monthly views and weekly views. This took a VERRRY long time to design. It makes me think I should learn InDesign. This however was all done in Photoshop, and hard to coordinate the fronts/backs of all the pages! Then I printed the pages out, handstitched them into a cut marine vinyl cover, and there are a couple different closure designs.

Just in case you’ve been following us, the breaking news is that we aren’t dead.

In contrary, we’re moving up the ladder of progress slowly but surely.

Photos of our box progress will come soon, but for now here’s some bad news; Filming on the 14th November has to be reshot. Alot of things went wrong for our part. But even through errors we learn our way back to doing it right.

Stacy was excellent as an actress. We really extend our most hearty thankfulness to her for putting up with the sun, our bad directing, and our long discussions.

Do visit her portfolio, she’s a really good designer. I personally like her work, The Girl & The Goldfish.

I’m having a slight technical difficulty with the uploading of images to wordpress now, and I can’t really bother with it today because I’m rushing the storyboard for tomorrow. f**k opera explorer. sometimes.

I do not know about you, but for me, the time has come to set my goals and plan, plan, plan. I have

I do not know about you, but for me, the time has come to set my goals and plan, plan, plan. I have some things I need to get done, and I have some things I want to get done, but somehow, these things just do not seem to be getting done. Solution? Planning ahead. No, plans do not always turn out how you want them to, but for me, it is easy to follow a plan, harder to make one. And it is not that I cannot make plans, it is just that I am sometimes too lazy to.

This laziness is also the reason why these things are not getting done. The solution to laziness? Defy it. Banish it. Do things you want to do but do not feel like doing at the moment. Do things you need to do but do not feel like doing at the moment. This laziness stimulates procrastination, and procrastination may make you feel all happy and relaxed now, but as soon as the deadline comes nearer, you will panic.

Another thing: deadlines. Having a deadline helps tremendously. Even though you may use the famous “I have plenty of time” saying, simply knowing that you must get something done by a certain time sometimes–not always–makes you do things. If you find yourself using that famous saying, push the deadline closer. Even though it may actually be due many weeks later, finishing something earlier rather than later leaves time for you to relax and be anxious-free. You may even get a head start on another project. Sure, breaks are good, but you should always have something to do. Do something for fun, like writing a novel. And then you can have your work and/or school projects.

What to do? Make a schedule. Fit everything you need and want to accomplish into this schedule and the most important part: follow through! What is the point of making a schedule if you are not going to use it?! How do you decide what should go in and what should not? That will be talked about. Here are the steps and tips for accomplishing your goals and feeling utterly better about yourself and life.

Step 1: Distinguish between the needs and the wants.

Make a list. Find out what is absolutely necessary and what is not. Necessities include things that are necessary for daily function. Wants include things that you can live without. Sometimes you may feel a need to do something, but be careful, because it actually might be a want disguising itself as a need to attract attention.

My Needs:

Sleep more

Eat 3 meals a day

Exercise

Do school work

My Wants:

Finish my novel

Sleep earlier/wake earlier

Get A’s in all classes

Step 2: Categorize what type of goals they are.

Is it a year-round goal? A lifetime goal? Or a goal that can be achieved in a matter of months? It is important to categorize so that you can find out what is more important and what is not. Sometimes, the couple-of-months goal would come first. You would take steps everyday to accomplish it, while you may take steps every week or month to accomplish the others, depending on the goal.

My Categorization:

Finish my novel - couple-of-months goal

Sleep earlier/wake earlier – lifetime goal

Get all A’s – yearly goal

Step 3: Identify the priority in the wants.

You should not be finding the priority in the needs because no matter what, all of those should go in the schedule. Not every want can go in, though, depending on how many you have. Distinguishing what the most important is depends on what you would like to do more, how long it should take you to accomplish it, et cetera.

My Priority: finishing my novel

Step 4: Make the schedule

While making the schedule, you should consider each thing that is going to be in it. When can you do them? What times are most appropriate? Do not forget that unexpectancies may pop up from time to time and do not get upset when something else comes up. Simply make up for it later, or continue where you left off. Do not overload you schedule! It is best to do it weekly, and set a time to come up with the next week’s on the weekends. You do not want to plan too much ahead. Also, do not forget to allow breaks everyday.

Step 5: Follow through

Your schedule is complete, now what? Follow through. It is simple as that. It may be hard at first because you might want to do something else, but just do what the schedule says. You made it, so you follow it.

As long as you allow breaks throughout the day, you should not feel overwhelmed. Also, time your breaks. It may be hard to stop doing whatever you where doing during the break, so will yourself to do it. I know it may sound corny, but will is a powerful thing. As long as you set your mind to a certain task, you can do it. As long as you believe you can, you can.

P.S. If you are a technology freak, you may want to set aside a certain time each day to check your e-mail and blog, et cetera. It should be no longer than an hour though.

P.P.S. If you are doing something that involves the computer, close your Internet browser and keep it close. If you need the Internet, do not open any other tabs or windows not pertaining to the task.

I make my first post in some time by simply observing both the pros and cons of adding some structure to one’s life.

I am, by nature, someone who prefers to be very organized, but as of late I have been feeling rather unorganized and not like I am able to fit in what I really want to do and what matters to me. So I took some time this week to look at my life and plan to make room in my schedule for everything I feel is important at least once a month, from volunteering to cultivating friendships outside of the church; from spending time with my wife and family to making room for school work.

Now, few people would say there is anything wrong with that, except perhaps the extreme Bohemian types who prefer to live as free spirits, flying wherever impulse should take them. But this is where my perfectionist tendencies come out. I suddenly felt the need to schedule everything — date night on Mondays, homework on Tuesdays, dinners with parents and in-laws on alternating Sundays, dinner with pagan neighbours on Fridays, and so on and so forth. Seeing me gripped by my mania, my wife looked over and says, “You know you don’t have to schedule everything, you know”

There is in life a precarious (and sometimes seemingly impossible) balance between scheduled activities and having the flexibility to respond to those things that God unexpectedly puts in our way, or simply taking some time to take care of the needs of those closest to us. Some people may default to either side of the spectrum — either nothing ever gets around to being done, or interruptions of one’s incessant busyness throws a person off balance. And for those who are tempted to schedule things to the extreme (organization and purposefulness is good, rigidity is bad), a spiritual lesson needs to be learned. Ultimately, the Lord is the one in control of our lives, not us, and so we need to feel the freedom to let go of the steering wheel and vacate the driver’s seat, even if that means taking half an hour to speak to a distressed friend on the phone, not enrolling in that curling league, or having the occasional meeting run 15 minutes over-time. Someone once told me that John Lennon said: “Life is what happens when you’re out making plans.” Whether it was Lennon or not, there is some truth to that, aptly summed up in the old proverb: “You can’t see the forest for the trees.” We can be doing all the right things, but so locked into our schedule and bull-stubborn that we don’t know why we are doing it after a while. I would say it’s better to be purposeful and committed to a few things rather than madly rushing around trying to do everything you think you should do but without love in your heart. Where is God for you in the mix? How does he enter into your life? Is every second of every day planned, so that you can’t hear God among all the noise of activity (and I’m not talking about scheduling a 30-minute devotional time in the morning)? Does your scheduling proficiency become a matter of pride, without which you would feel lost in the world?

How important is it to set a routine for a two-and-a-half year old? Well, I really don’t know. While my Miss Little Sunshine is at her perkiest best at night and not so much of an early riser, sending her to her playway has become a struggle every day. Now, Delhi has woken up to winters and making her wake up even at 8.30am is a task. Then getting her ready for her school is just too much of a pressure cooker waiting to explode. Constantly, I am threatening her that she will miss her van so that she opens her eyes. At the end of it, I am completely stressed out.

Now, it is a task making her go to bed by 10pm which I think is the ideal time for her to sleep. So we all have to be packed for the day as she refuses to sleep if even one of us stays awake. Then, while in bed, she loves reciting her poems. The poor girl is threatened that if she doesn’t shut her mouth and sleep she will not be able to go to school the next day. Now that is something which works coz come hell or high tide, she would not like to miss her school. The poor MLS struggles hard to sleep, settling in different positions so that sleep comes her way.

How do you put a toddler into a schedule? She had almost fallen into a routine when last week we went out of town for a wedding. This made her schedule go completely haywire. How do you make children understand the concept of time? Or is it too much to ask for from a toddler?
