Here is a brief description of what has been happening in The Alive with Clive Top 20.

Since Serotonen built up such a commanding lead at the top of The Alive with Clive Top 20, it remains comfortably ensconced in the # 1 position on The Alive with Clive Top 20 Chart, but the following shifts in The Alive with Clive To 20 have occurred in recent weeks:

1.      Irena Hart has now overtaken The Melillo Brothers (Anthony, Nick and Joe) to move into the # 2 position on The Chart.

2.      Joe Venice, Kylie Edmond, Dan Sheehan, Allison Scola and Lisa Redford, have all retained their positions, four through eight, on The Chart.

3.      Scott Krokoff is now in 9th position.

4.      Robert Randall is at # 10.

5.      Thanks to regular, consistent and disciplined voting on a daily basis over the past several months, Tamra Hayden, has emerged from nowhere to quietly leapfrog over several other contenders and move into 12th position on The Chart, behind Jason Gisser and in front of Lisa Bianco.  As a new entrant into The Alive with Clive Top 20, Tamra has caused Alex P. Taylor, whose song, “Window,” is the 19th song in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20, to lose his position in The Alive with Clive Top 20.

6.      Joe Travers, Jeneen Terrana, Scott Urgola, Cassandra Kubinski and Jessica Labus now occupy positions 14 through 18.

7.      Daniel Angelus has moved into slot # 19 ahead of John Taglieri.

8.      Votes for Jo Williamson have been accumulating in recent weeks, and if voting for her continues it won’t be too long before she finds herself in The Alive with Clive Top 20.

9.      Among recent guests on Alive with Clive, an initial spurt of votes for Celadon Candy subsided.  There have also been more than a dozen votes for Lindsay Dragan and Shelly Bhushan.

As you will see from Tamra’s Web site at http://www.tamrahayden.com, she is a dynamic performer with a diverse and varied background.  She has performed on Broadway as Cosette in Les Misérables and in Texas in Cabaret at Studio 54.  Chosen as one of the “Top Ten to watch in 2010″ by CDBaby soon after the release of her newest CD, I Believe In The Fire, Tamra is also an accomplished singer/songwriter who has produced two other CDs: A Day At The Fair, and Unwrapped, as well as a music video of her song, “Eden Will Bloom.”  In short, she is constantly sharing her immense musical talent with the world in a multitude of different ways.  I am honored that she is now in The Alive with Clive Top 20, heading for the Top 10.

While I’ve had to suspend promotion of The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 to address a major health challenge in recent months, I am now slowly but surely being restored to optimum health and regaining momentum, and will be implementing several ideas to focus attention on The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 soon.

As a result, interest in The Alive with Clive Top 20 is likely to intensify.

Although it will be a while before The SECOND Alive with Clive Top 20 compilation of songs will be released, after more singer/songwriters who have been interviewed on Alive with Clive begin to appreciate the benefits of being in The Alive with Clive Top 20, voting to gain entry into The Alive with Clive Top 20 is certain to escalate and become much more robust.

Right now, 129 singer/songwriters who have been interviewed on Alive with Clive are eligible to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20.  Serotonen at # 1 has 6,066 votes, Robert Randall at # 10 has 569 votes, and John Taglieri at # 20 has 255 votes.

Experience has shown that once a singer/songwriter makes up his or her mind to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20, with the support of family, relatives, friends and fans it doesn’t take that long for him or her to generate the votes necessary to gain entry into The Alive with Clive Top 20.

Since the threshold to make it into The Alive with Clive Top 20 – at 255 votes – is so low, I predict that soon some new names and faces will emerge, and that in turn will cause some familiar names and faces to lose their place in The Alive with Clive Top 20 unless voting for them resumes.

That, then, is a brief account of what has been occurring with The Alive with Clive Top 20.

This is what you will discover about Scott from his Bio on his Web site, www.scotturgola.com:

 

Scott Urgola, a native of Somers, New York, is an up and coming alternative/indie/folk, singer/songwriter with a refreshingly raw sound.  He balances an innate sense of realism driven by engaging melodies and introspective lyrics.  In an article about Scott in BluesWax Magazine, contributing editor, Kyle M. Palarino, wrote:  ”I like Urgola’s writing for the same reason I like hockey, because you can’t take your eyes off it. If you do you just might miss the best part.”  Some of Scott’s biggest influences are Woody Guthrie, John Lennon, Tom Waits, Joe Strummer and Dan Bern.  Scott has released two full-length solo albums of original material, his 2005 debut, Restoration Lullaby, and his latest work, Now’s The Time, released in early 2010.

 

During his interview on Alive with Clive, Scott revealed that while he grew up in a home in which music was always present, it wasn’t until he went to college that he first acquired an acoustic guitar and began to write songs in earnest.  He recorded songs on his computer and was encouraged to pursue his craft after he discovered that friends liked the songs he was performing and sharing on a makeshift demo album.  Not surprisingly, since after you hear Scott’s songs and read their lyrics on his Web site, it is clear that he is a brilliant songwriter.

 

In collaboration with the Somers Historical Society, on February 20, 2010, Scott held his CD release party for his second CD, Now’s The Time, with several other musical guests at what used to be The Elephant Hotel, which is now a National Historic Landmark, in Somers, the “Cradle of the American Circus.”  Hachaliah Bailey built the Elephant Hotel, a picture of which adorns the back cover of the CD holder for Now’s The Time, to commemorate the heartbreaking loss of his pet elephant, Old Bet, who was one of the first elephants to be brought to America from Africa.  She arrived in Boston in 1804 and was shot to death in Maine in 1816 by a farmer who thought it sinful for poor people to spend money to see an elephant.

 

When Scott is not sharing his music with fans, he deploys his musical skills to provide comfort at a nursing home at which he is employed for patients who suffer from Alzheimers.

 

Scott is committed that any music he produces reflects his true authentic spirit, and is enamored of the example set by Pete Seeger, who has retained his connection with his local communities as a non-commercial commercial musician.

 

Scott enjoys the support of a close-knit community of inspiring musicians including Fred Gillen Jr., Matt Turk, Eric Puente and Julie Corbalis, who have also been guests on Alive with Clive.  In addition, both of Scott’s CDs were recorded at Woody’s House, in Croton-on-Hudson, New York, by Fred Gillen, Jr. 

 

If you were to describe the theme of Scott’s song, “Don’t,” in two words, they’d be carpe diem, or “seize the day.”  Through the song, Scott reminds us that if we’re not careful we can get caught up in minutiae and distractions in day-to-day living and give preference to posteriorities, while our big dreams are relegated to the backburner.  The song is thus a call, with skillfully-crafted lyrics, for us to give priority to, and take action now on, the matters in our lives that will provide us with the most fulfillment.

Hello Friends:

I have recently encountered additional evidence of positive and heartening developments that are occurring in the realm of providing support and assistance to people affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa, and will be sharing more about these encouraging developments in the days ahead.

In the meantime, I have this important announcement to make:

Based on the number of votes cast to date for musicians I’ve interviewed on Alive with Clive to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20, earlier this week – on August 9, 2010 – I created a compilation of 20 songs for The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20.

These are the musicians or bands who are in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20, in the order based on the number of votes they had received as of August 9, 2010, and to date:

After a few necessary steps have been completed, the 20 songs I have selected from the musicians in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 will be made known and available for sale within the next few weeks through downloads at a page on The Official Web site for Alive with Clive, http://alivewithclive.tv.  A physical CD with these songs may also be made available for sale in the future.

As mentioned in The Alive with Clive Top 20 Plan to raise at least $1 billion dollars for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa, which I recently posted for review at http://alivewithclive.tv, while the original plan was for all the proceeds from the sale of songs provided by musicians in The Alive with Clive Top 20 to be paid to charities for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa, under the new plan musicians in The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 and any succeeding Alive with Clive Top 20 will receive a portion of the proceeds of sales of their songs.

Since several details must first be ironed out pursuant to The Alive with Clive Top 20 Plan, I cannot say at this stage with any degree of specificity how long it will be before The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 is replaced with another group of 20 songs in The SECOND Alive with Clive Top 20, and then others after that.  At this stage, The FIRST Alive with Clive Top 20 will be in effect for at least a month.

Until further notice, all votes cast to date will be taken into account for the purposes of determining The SECOND Alive with Clive Top 20, and others after that, as well, so it is important for voting to continue, as it has up to now, for musicians who want to enjoy the benefits of being in The SECOND Alive with Clive Top 20, and those who’d like to be in The Alive with Clive Top 20 in the future.

I am also in the process of changing the service I use for distributing emails to my email subscribers, so I won’t also be making this announcement via email within the next few days.

I want to take this opportunity to (1) congratulate the above-mentioned 20 musicians and bands, and (2) thank them and their fans for their ongoing support.

Stay tuned for lots of exciting developments with Alive with Clive and The Alive with Clive Top 20 in my quest to raise at least a billion dollars for people affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa as soon as possible through the implementation of the principles of synergistic philanthrocapitalism.
