Neve Campbell speaks on the latest for “Scream 4″. She says now the original cast is officially signed on, they still need to wait for a script to come in. So this means the plot and synopsis for “Scream 4″ hasn’t been released to the public just yet.

I’m sure everyone is curious to see what the 4th one will be about. I’m also curious.

Yo tenía mis dudas sobre si 2012 de Roland Emmerich iba a ser un éxito en taquilla, pero lo ha sido a nivel mundial, más de 200 millones en todo el mundo en su primer fin de semana, haciendo sólo en Estados Unidos más de 65 millones. Así que no podemos negar el éxito de la película que retrata el fin del mundo, y que yo me muero de ganas por ver, y que todavía no he podido. De todas formas, está claro que la próxima semana estas cifras se igualarán o se aumentarán (esta última opción la más factible) por la saga Crepúsculo: Luna Nueva, que se estrena hoy en España, y el viernes en el resto del mundo.

Dejando las recaudaciones, es hora de hablar de dos 4 partes en marcha. Una muy clara y la otra aunque se lleva diciendo desde hace tiempo, hasta que no la vea no me lo creo. Estaba claro de la existencia de Spiderman 4. Hay muchos rumores sobre los villanos a los que se enfrentará el héroe. El rumor que ha saltado últimamente es que habrán varios malos, y uno podría ser La gata negra, personaje al que opta Rachel McAdams (El Diario de Noa, Vuelo Nocturno). Y la otra es, atención, Scream 4. Mi saga de terror favorita vuelve a la carga, no con una 4 película, sino que con una trilogía entera (o sea, 4, 5 y 6) si sigue teniendo éxito. Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox y David Arquette repiten.

No puedo seguir sin decir esta curiosidad, habrá un cameo en la película del Equipo A de uno de los miembros de la banda de la popular serie. El actor Dwight Schultz (Murdock), aparecerá en la película haciendo un cameo. Recordar que la película, está protagonizada por Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Jessica Biel y Sharlto Copely (que interpreta a Murdock).

Antes de que se estrene su nueva cinta (Invictus), Clint Eastwood ya está rodando la siguiente, se trata de Hereafter, que se ha descrito como una película con elementos sobrenaturales, y estará protagonizada (al igual que Invictus) por Matt Damon.

El nuevo proyecto de Andy García como director es un biopic sobre Hemingway al que Anthony Hopkins, le dará vida. El propio García y Annette Bening le acompañan en la cinta que se llamará “Hemingway and Fuentes”.

El spin off se Shrek ya tiene fecha de estreno. En noviembre de 2011, El gato con botas verá la luz. La cinta protagonizada por el personaje salido de Shrek contará con la voz original de la saga, Antonio Banderas, al que le acompañará Salma Hayek.

Y por último, si empezamos con Roland Emmerich, vamos acabar con él, y con una noticia sorprendente. Anuncia que quiere hacer no una segunda parte, sino una tercera también de Independence Day. ¿Cómo os quedáis?

Cox, Courteney – The Friends co-star will return to the popular Scream series in its fourth installment.  She’ll reprise her role as Gale Weathers, an attractive older woman who tracks down mysterious younger men doing bad things so she can bring them to “justice.”  As such, Scream 4 will be named Cougar Town.

Lohan, Lindsay – The actress/singer was partying recently at the Crown Bar in L.A. and allegedly tromped into the kitchen and grabbed a couple expensive bottles of champagne.  When asked to pay her tab, an onlooker says that Lohan freaked out: “She kept saying ‘I don’t pay for drinks! This is ridiculous!”  Lindsay, darling, you look like you’ve already paid for them.

Moon, New – You may have heard about a little series of books called Twilight.  And supposedly there is a movie or two based on them.  If you live near a theater, your world will end this Friday, when you and your possessions will be trampled into dust by screaming, vampire-obsessed tweens.

Con la noticia de que una década después del lanzamiento en cines de Scream, se está produciendo la cuarta parte estelarizada por un asesino con máscara ridícula, las voces y opiniones no se han dejado esperar.

Acaba de salir a la luz la imagen del cartel publicitario de la cinta y, al verlo, me doy cuenta que esta cinta va a apestar tanto o más como lo hicieran las partes anteriores. Baste ver las pocas ganas que le echaron para diseñarlo, ni siquiera hay un buen manejo de luces para que la máscara se vea más apantallante. Triste que se cuelguen sólo de la fama ganada.

MTV continues to get these great exclusives. Scream writer Kevin Williamson caught up with the music/reality television channel and reveals a couple of interesting tidbits for the upcoming Scream 4.

“The fourth one is an ensemble…It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We’ll have our three main characters…We’ll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That’ll take us through the next three.”

So a new trilogy has been confirmed. Ehh, could be worse, it could be I Know What You Did Last Summer or Urban Legend. The trinity (Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox Arquette and David Arquette) are all confirmed to return, while series director Wes Craven has only expressed interest in returning.

Clever tag line.  Nice graphics.  Just one damn fine teaser poster.

Our cautious optimism about this film grows by the day.

Here there is the first promotional poster for the new scream movie…About the cast, Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell, and David Arquette are all set to return, but beyond that, they haven’t even chose a director. We reported in October that Dimension was supposedly close to getting Wes Craven back to direct Scream 4-

The plot is nothing new, Mtv reported this: “The fourth one is an ensemble. It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. We’ll have our three main characters, and we’ll be introducing several more. We’ll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That’ll take us through the next three.”

Earlier today, Scream 4 writer Kevin Williamson announced on his twitter page that he’s “writing. late night”. MTV spoke to him and he confirmed he is completing the script for Scream 4, and concurrently writing the 5th installment as well.

“The fourth one is an ensemble. It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in Woodsboro. We’ll have our three main characters, and we’ll be introducing several more. We’ll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That’ll take us through the next three.”

The three characters that will be returning are Sidney (Neve Campbell), Gale (Courteney Cox) and Dewey (David Arquette), Williamson confirmed, adding, “We’ll also be introducing a little group, a little ensemble of new castmembers. That’ll take us through the next three.”

What do you think of that? Bringing in new blood for the next films could mean the original 3 will be killed off in this one.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin have been announced as the co-hosts of the 82nd Academy Awards ceremony next March.

Okay this is awesome, not quite the rumoured Neil Patrick Harris presenting the Oscars level of awesome, but awesome nonetheless. Both Baldwin and Martin, who co-incidentally are vying with each other for the Saturday Night Live guest hosting record, are extremely funny guys. Baldwin’s portrayal of Jack Donaghy in 30 Rock is one of the funniest things on TV.

The Oscar producers, Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman are pretty damn happy with their selection too. “We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars,” said Shankman and Mechanic. “Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event.”

“I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin,” said Martin.

“I don’t play the banjo but I’m thrilled to be hosting the Oscars. It’s the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Baldwin.

The ceremony has had multiple hosts before, but this is the first time, according to The Hollywood Reporter, that two people will have hosted the Oscars while standing in the same room since the very first ceremony in 1929, when Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and William C. DeMille fronted the show. Martin hosted the 73rd and 75th Academy Awards shows. He actually earned an Emmy nomination for his first stint. He has also served as a presenter on the show several times, most recently at the ceremony in February when he appeared with Tina Fey.

The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. Mark your calendars.

Scorpion King and Eraser director, Chuck Russell, is gearing up to direct a 3D adventure based on the fantasy tales The Arabian Nights. The script has been co-written by Russell in conjunction with newcomer Barry P. Ambrose.

The movie is set to deviate from the original 1001 tales. Instead the movie focuses on a young military commander who, after his king is killed in a coup, joins forces with Sinbad, Aladdin and the genie to rescue Scheherazade and her kingdom from dark powers.

The action adventure, with an estimated budget of $70 million, will start production in April. Good or bad either way you can blame Disney and Prince of Persia for the re-interest in desert based sword-and-slash adventures. Since I’m a huge Aladdin (the Disney version) fan I’m hoping for something close to that, sans the “Whole New World” bit.

300 star Gerard Butler is lining up for a tilt in Ralph Fiennes’ directorial debut Coriolanus. The movie is being billed as a contemporary version of Shakespeare’s Rome-set political and family drama.

The plot sees a Roman general called Gaius Martius lead an army to war against the Volsicans. The leader of the Volsicans, Tullus Aufidius, considers Gaius a blood enemy and offers to fight him in single combat.

Fiennes himself is set to play Gaius Martius, while Butler is being lined up for Tullus Aufidius. The cast also includes William Hurt, Eddie Marsan, Jessica Chastain and Vanessa Redgrave as Volumnia, mother and consel to Tullus.

The movie, written by The Last Samurai scribe John Logan, is scheduled to begin shooting in Serbia in March. No release date has been set but with the cast involved I’d expect this to be aimed at summer blockbuster territory.

Fox is reportedly working hard on developing a CIA-themed movie, to be written by Stir of Echoes: The Homecoming scribe Harris Wilkinson. Kate Beckinsale’s hubby, and Underworld director Len Wiseman has been attached to shoot the Peter Chernin produced thriller.

The plot will centre on a division of the CIA that specializes in “remote viewing”,the ability to gather information using paranormal means. So expect a mixture of 24 and The Men Who Stare at Goats.

No word on a potential cast or release date yet, but it should be one to keep an eye out for.

Scream creator Kevin Williamson has recently been letting more hints drop about the new trilogy of Scream movies that he is currently writing. According to an interview with MTV, Williamson is hard at work completing the script for part 4, and is contractually obliged to do a 5th.

Stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are all returning. Director Wes Craven has yet to confirm, but reports indicate that he has expressed interest and excitement over Williamson’s ideas.

According to Williamson “The fourth one is an ensemble. It’ll take place right now, 10 years later, and it’s going to take place in [Sidney Prescott's hometown of] Woodsboro. The original Scream was genius, a modern, pop-culture update on a tired genre. Subsequent efforts suffered from the law of diminishing returns, with part 3 just a complete mess. Hopefully the new trilogy can recapture the glory of the first outing.

Screenwriter/Creator of the Scream franchise Kevin Williamson debunks rumors that Scream 4 will be in 3D.  And he did it via Twitter.  His first tweet, posted on the 24th, had this to say:

What is this Scream 4 in 3D? First I heard of it.

Then an hour later he added:

Guys? Really? 3D? Nahhhhh.

Riding the recent horror movie bandwagon, The Weinstein Company is looking to shoot Scream 4 in 3-D. In addition, Bloody Disgusting is also reporting director Wes Craven is closer than ever to returning. Franchise creator and scriber of the first two films Kevin Williamson, along with the trinity (David Arquette, Courtney Cox-Arquette and Neve Campbell) are all inked and set to return.

As it is a Monday, there’s been some notes of interest in the film industry as well. First, QT’s Inglorious Basterds has been given a DVD release date of December 14th. Specs for the US release have yet to be announced. On Basterds:

7.5/10 QT could film grass growing for two hours and I’d probably love it. My biggest complaint with this film was that the ending seemed a little sloppy, a little overdone, and a little (creepily) sadistic. Melanie Laurent gave the year’s best performance so far, IMO.

But the best war movie of the year, Kathryn Bigelow’s The Hurt Locker, has just picked up some awards season steam by nabbing a handful of Gotham Independent Film Awards nominations. It earned (I mean it, this movie was unbelievably great) best feature, breakthrough actor, and best ensemble performance noms. Still no DVD date scheduled, expect an strategic winter release. On Locker:

8/10 – Probably would’ve rated it even higher if I liked war movies a little more. This film was masterfully directed and delivered a great message that was refreshingly devoid of politics.

Nostalgia

Any Scream fans out there? Well after hell froze over and Neve Campbell officially signed on for Scream 4, Wes Craven had expressed interest in returning to the reigns of the franchise he left after part 2. According to Cinemablend’s reliable sources, Scream will be getting the Fast and Furious treatment, sporting original cast members Campbell, Courtney Cox, Dewy, writer Kevin Williamson, and that’s right – director Wes Craven. Who knew? On a related note, Craven’s next film, 25/8 has been retitled My Soul to Take which is a little too Drag Me to Hell for my tastes, cause let’s face it, Neve Campbell will return to the Scream franchise before MS2T is better than DM2H. Oh wait….

According to a post on Twitter Wes Craven had a recent productive meeting with screenwriter Kevin Williamson about the progress of the Scream 4 script.  He wrote:

I had dinner with KW last night, and the script sounds fantastic!

Wes Craven’s on Twitter?  Who da thunk it?  But we’re glad otherwise we couldn’t post this nice tidbit of Scream 4 news.

Of course, it doesn’t tell us much.  But it does suggest the script is still only in the planning stage.  And since Williamson is consulting with Craven at these early stages it offers a strong suggestion that Craven will direct this project.

Frankly, we’re only interested in a Scream 4 if Craven is at the helm.  So these are all good signs.

It seems the Weinstein’s and screenwriter Kevin Williamson were finally able to break Neve Campbell, as the actress, who originally stated she would not be returning for another Scream, has now signed on to star in the upcoming fourth installment of the popular horror franchise.

Scream 4 is said to be the first of a new trilogy, and Dimension Films is talking to Wes Craven to direct. In addition to Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are also set to reprise their roles.

Released in 1996, the first Scream told the story of the fictional town Woodsboro, CA being terrorized by a masked killer who enjoys tormenting his victims with phone calls and movie references. The killer’s main target is Sidney Prescott (Campbell), a teenage girl whose mother Maureen fell victim to a brutal murder one year earlier. The film takes on a who-done-it mystery, with many of her friends and townspeople being fellow targets and suspects.

Sequels followed in 1997 and 2000. The franchise is looked at as revitalizing the slasher film genre in the mid-1990s. The first two Scream films grossed more than $100 million each, while Scream 3 grossed $89 million in the U.S.

Scream 4 is slated to begin production in April of May of next year.

The 90’s produced a lot of amazing teen movies. Can’t Hardly Wait, Varsity Blues, Empire Records, Clueless! Cinematically speaking, it was a great time to be a teen. And there were a lot of familiar faces kicking around – the Molly Ringwalds of Generations X and Y. Some of those people have gone on to have long, lucrative careers (like Liv Tyler, Seth Green, or Michelle Williams), while others have disappeared into relative obscurity. For a while, these stars were in high teen-movie demand. Now, we’re just wondering if they’re still alive. But don’t despair! I’ve tracked them down. Here’s a list of some long lost teen stars of the 90’s.

In She’s All That, Cook revolutionized the whole nerdy-girl turned hot-girl thing. She took her hair out of a pony tail, took off her glasses, plucked her eyebrows and viola! Hot. And for a while she was all over the place  - starring in Josie and the Pussycats, guesting on Dawson’s Creek. But then she pretty much… disappeared. Okay well not really. According to her imdb page, she’s been “acting” ever since, in movies such as Blond Ambition, starring respected actor Jessica Simpson. I guess the world finally realized Cook was pretty much crap. But she’s still “acting,” so maybe that Oscar is just around the corner.

Both Can’t Hardly Wait and Empire Records are two of the most amazing teen movies ever made, and both feature the once-adorable Ethan Embry. I suppose one could have predicted the hair loss (it was never quite “lush,” was it?). But actually, Embry isn’t doing too badly for himself. He was in Sweet Home Alabama, and Eagle Eye (starring Shia LaBeouf). He currently has a large role on Showtime’s Brotherhood. He’s also been in a bunch of crap no one has ever heard of. But whatever. Good for him! He’s working and probably making decent money, which is more than I can say for Rachael up there.

Robin Tunney was the 90’s go-to goth girl. Whenever a teen movie needed a sad emo chick dressed in black, she was at the ready. This was best exemplified teen movies The Craft and Empire Records. Tunney could even act a little bit (at least more than some of her co-workers), and it has served her well. Though the early 2000’s were a little rough (see: Cherish), she’s managed to bounce back, thanks to some lucrative TV roles. Tunney’s currently starring on the well-received CBS show The Mentalist. Also, she came in second on Bravo’s 2006 Celebrity Poker Showdown. Awesome.

Neve was the quintessential teen star of the 90’s – she was on a hit teen drama (Party of Five), she was the star of a hit horror franchise (Scream, duh), she had a few solid teen movies under her belt (like The Craft). Annnd she made out with Denise Richards in Wild Things. She was a big star! But since then it’s been a pretty sad scene. Let’s see. She was in Sea Wolf, a TV miniseries. And…um…I Really Hate my Job, a 2007 movie. Yeah, Neve pretty much faded into obscurity. But I have GREAT news! She just signed up for Scream 4. That’s right. SCREAM 4! (Rumor has it that Matthew Lillard – another long lost teen star – might return from the dead.) So here’s hoping for a Neve comeback in 2010.

Save the Last Dance is such a good dance flick (one of the best teen genres). And Sean Patrick Thomas was so hot and patient in it. He was also in a string of 90’s movies, playing pretty different characters. In Can’t Hardly Wait he was the annoying guy obsessed with High School memories. In Cruel Intentions he was a sensitive, love-struck cello player. But then he sort of fell off the map. He’s played bit parts in TV shows, included a recurring role on Fox’s Lie to Me. But for the most part, this guy needs some work. Maybe he and Rachael Leigh Cook should make a movie together. Like Save the Last Dance 2. I’m just throwing that out there.

As I was making this list, I thought of about a hundred other teen stars who have disappeared over the years. Maybe teen stars are like the new child actors – they all have a pretty limited career. But unlike child actors, none of these guys seem to brilliantly burn out in a drug-hazed, sexually perverse stupor. I can’t quite tell what’s more tragic, the total meltdown, or the slow decent into irrelevance. Wow. What a depressing sentence.

The Gangs All Here – Neve Campbell Returns to Scream Franchise
Apparently someone got the memo that it isn’t 1996 and you have slid into the realm of obscurity. And in this economy if you can find work you take it. Anyway the gangs all here, Neve Campbell has returned to reprise her role in the upcoming Scream 4. She will join David Arquette and his wife Courtney Cox Arquette. I wonder will it be in 3D.

Lost Boys 3: The Thirst – Already Sucks (Punning Begins Here)
I have to think whoever green lighted this mess hasn’t seen the last faring for this franchise. I mean they couldn’t have. It was HORRIBLE, and not in a good way. Seriously, Lost Boys 2 should have been taken out back and shot. Well, Corey Feldman will be shooting this shit extravaganza later this year.

In today’s “that’s sort of surprising, not because I didn’t think she would do it, but because I thought she died like four years ago” news, Neve Campbell has reportedly agreed to join old pals David Arquette and Courtney Cox in Scream 4, which is set to shoot in 2010.

According to a very interesting report from Variety, Harvey Weinstein and the Weinstein Co. are ready to move back to their cash cows of the past and suck all of the life out of them for profit. Such titles include Children of the Corn, An American Werewolf in London, and Short Circuit which will all receive the remake treatment, while Halloween, Hellraiser, and Scanners will all receive sequels shot in 3-D.

Says Harvey according to Variety:

“‘I’m heading back to my franchise films,’” Weinstein declared, citing plans to shoot sequels to ‘Hellraiser’ and ‘Scanners’ in 3D. Also on the slate are remakes of ‘Short Circuit’ and ‘An American Werewolf in London.’ ’These films are our strength, and we are committed to doing them in style.’”

Well, this is fantastic news for all of you readers out there who love getting really excited to revisit your old favorites only to be ultimately disappointed when the new films turn out to be giant piles of poo. But some of these choices have me confused. Short Circuit? Really? How are they going to update that technology to make it make sense in a world where robots are already part of our everyday lives? Obviously I’m talking about the Roomba vacuum.

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on Scream 4, and that’s largely because it pains me to know end to think about this debacle coming to fruition.  Scream was the first R-rated horror film I was ever allowed to watch.  I lost my H-card to Scream, y’all, so the thought of Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette being surrounded by a CW-series worthy cast of actors and calling it Scream 4 feels somewhat akin to tracking down your high-school sweetheart only to discover they’ve gotten a cheap boob-job and are turning tricks outside a Cheesecake Factory.  You want so desperately to rekindle those old feelings, but you can’t help but feeling it’s going to be sloppy and desperate.  In the end, it’s really just best to walk away and remember the good times.  So why stop with the ostrichin’?

Well, there now comes news that Neve Campbell has joined the cast of Scream 4, which is the sort of tidbit that makes me wish Tatum was still around to dole out her sassy yet sage wisdom:

Seeing as she was taken out by a rather unfortunate accident involving a doggy door and an electronic garage door opener, such advice could not be counseled.  That, and she’s also a fictional character, but whatever.  Boo.

What sucks about this development (besides Neve Campbell seeing Neve Campbell get wrangled into this train wreck) is that I now have to hoist up my white flag and admit defeat/mildly percolating interest.  If I’ve sat through Three to Tango for Neve Campbell,  then it goes without saying that I’ll be sitting through Scream 4 for Neve Campbell.  Of course they’ll probably just Casey Becker her in the first 15 minutes, but shooting doesn’t start ’til next spring, so there’s still time for this not to be the worst!  Let’s discuss.

First off, maybe Kevin Williamson will eschew our assumptions as to what the new Scream trilogy will look like and write a trilogy involving the post-traumatic lives of the original trilogy’s survivors as opposed to a whole new cast of expendable teens.  It could be psychological and intelligent, more of a tightly wound thriller more than a straight up slasher.  But asking for an intelligent, adult horror film is like asking for Ryan Gosling to race in on a unicorn and whisk me away to be his manwife, so I’ll just abandon hope on that particular pipe dream.

Option two for making this good is really pretty simple.  All Kevin Williamson has to do is recall the most important lesson that we were taught by Neve Campbell’s other great contribution to cinema, Wild Things:

And by “keep it classy,” I mean “don’t be afraid to exploit the cheap titillations of lesbian kissing, thereby making your movie one of the greatest and most gloriously trashy camp masterpieces of all time.”  Really, if Scream 4 can’t be actually good, then I can settle for it being Nobody-Puts-Baby-in-a-Horner’s-Seal-of-Ridiculously-Batshit-Camptasticness good.  It’s kinda the same thing when you think about it.

Most likely, though, Scream 4 will probably be more like the Friday the 13th remake, but with better dialogue peppered with cameos by cast of a far better and interesting franchise.  Conductor Neve Campbell’s stamped my ticket, so I guess it’s time to get on board the inevitable train wreck.  All aboard, y’all.  All aboard.

En esta oportunidad fue anunciado el regreso de Neve Campell junto a Courteney Cox y a David Arquette para el comienzo de una nueva trilogia de la saga Scream.

Segun se ha informado los estudios Dimension Films comenzarán a filmar en Abril o Mayo del proximo año con el director Wes Craven (el mismo de las sagas anteriores).

Esperemos que este remake sea tan bueno como las 3 primeras entregas que tanto me gustaron.
