Bermuda—The recently announced Mr. and Mrs. Winthrope spent the better part of a week in their Bermuda bungalow consummating their wedding vows. The couple was seen only when one of them stepped out for a smoke and to talk to Vondrook reporters.

“God, I love consummating,” said Mr. Winthrope, age 24. “All I could think about on the plane ride over was how badly we needed to consummate this shit.”

The couple had been wed 15 hours earlier in Nantucket in front of friends and family. “The wedding was good,” recalled Mrs. Winthrope, 22. “Lots of cake and dancing, but all I could think about was the consummating.”

The newlyweds completed their first set of consummation on the plane to their honeymoon spot in the Bahamas. “Right there in the bathroom,” said Mrs. Winthrope. “It was a helluva consummation.”

“I really consummated her good,” reported Mr. Winthrope. “Good and hard.”
Mrs. Winthrope nodded in agreement. “From the plane, we went right to the bungalow and consummated for hours. I mean, sure, I’ve been copulated before; I’ve been screwed, banged, humped, horned, degraded, penetrated, fornicated, but whew! Never consummated!”

Mr. Winthrope winked with pride to reporters and said, “I even consummated her through the back door, if you know what I mean. And I think with a little charm, I’ll be able to consummate with her and a friend of hers. Not just screwing, mind you. That’s too harsh. I’m talking consummating. How could I be denied if I phrase it just right?”

This post has been spawned from my interest in pocket-sized tools, and trying to build the ultimate

This post has been spawned from my interest in pocket-sized tools, and trying to build the ultimate handy set of keys for my work keys. I have a few tools in my collection already, and I’ll write a short review of those, as well as showing some tools off my wish list. This list ignores multitools I have reviewed previously. Most of them are far too big to be included in this post anyway.

Gerber Artifact

my Gerber Artifact

I recently got my hands on a Gerber Artifact, which looked awesome. It has a small pry bar, Bottle opener, “x-acto” style replaceable blade, and a Philips head screwdriver on the tip. I had nothing like it in my collection, so i put in an order

When my order arrived, I have to admit I was a little disappointed with the build quality. The main body appears to be cast, and its hard to fault that, however the locking mechanism and pivot were a little ordinary. The blade is difficult to open and close. The pivot seems overly stiff. I’m not sure if this is the fault of the product, or if the tool was tightened after manufacture.

This brings me to my next point, the condition of the screws on the pivot and the ones holding the locking mechanism in place. It appears they have been abused somewhat. the torx screw in the pivot looks like it has had an allen key used in it to tighten it. To the tools credit this may have been done at the store I bought it from. Next, the two Torx screws holding the locking spring in look as if they had been beaten with a hammer, as well as having an allen key in them (the edges are somewhat distorted)

Really, when you consider the price which was paid, I can’t really fault the tool (it was $10 plus postage in a package of other stuff). It is solid, and very usable

Pocket Wrench II

The Pocket Wrench II is a neat little tool. It seems simple, with no moving parts, but has several useful features, such as a pry bar, a rule with inches and centimeters, and its main feature, the “universal” wrench, or as we would call it over here, spanner. I am yet to own one of these, but eventually, I would love to get my hands on one of these for my collection.

The Pocket Wrench II

Peter Atwood

This one isn’t a specific tool, its a whole person. Peter Atwood is probably considered “THE GUY” when it comes to making small key sized multitools. his tools are better described as fine crafted works of art, and they are very exclusive. Peter releases the tools in small batches, which he announces on his blog, and the batches never last too long before they are all sold out. You really have to be on the ball to get one of his creations. I don’t own any of his tools yet, but eventually I might splash out for one, if i can catch a batch with some avaliable

Swiss+tech Utili Key 6 in 1

the Utili-key is probably one of the first on mini, on keys tools I added to my collection. I attribute the discovery of this fun little tool to my sister, who actually found it first. I eventually found myself one, and has been on my keys ever since.

the Swiss+Tech Utili-Key

Swiss+Tech Micro Plus

along side the Utili-key, I have added a Swiss+tech Micro-Plus to my keys also. these are a little pair of folding pliers, where, as you can see from the image, the handles are made up of a selection of screwdriver ends. The pliers on this critter are not in any way, needle point, they are quite wide, and short. The wide and short jaws come with the design, but can limit some uses of the tool. the biggest issue I have with this tool is that when folded out into pliers, there is no way of locking the handle into position. Again, this is really dictated by the simplistic design of the tools, and it is something you should be able to deal with.

The miniature Swiss+Tech Micro Plus

Swiss+tech make a few other mini tools – mostly variants fo the miniature pliers with more features. when I get around to it, I wouldn’t mind upgrading the micro plus to a Micro Max, which appears to be mostly an addition to some different sized screw driver bits as part of the handle

So there we have it. Short, and far from exhaustive, but I hope someone out there found it helpful or interesting.

We love a good wine (don’t we all?). And we do have a bias for corked wine instead of the screwed-on ones. We just think the corked wines are better in quality. That and we’re just traditionalists at heart. Uncorking the bottle adds to the drama and rituals of wine drinking. (So, yes, we steer clear of New Zealand wines.)

Source : The WWF on “Cork and wine industries play a key role in the sustainability of forests“

Cork is natural, renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. No trees are cut to harvest cork. The bark of the trees are harvested every 9-12 years. The point is if more wine manufacturers stop using cork (through use of plastic stoppers or screw caps), it reduces the value of lands where cork oak trees are grown. And this could lead to their conversion for other uses.

The WWF is campaigning for the conservation of the cork oak trees. And the wine industry plays a major role in that conservation accounting for some 70% of the cork market.

Source: The Treevolution site on “Wine industry can help conserve cork forests“

“cork forests are home and a source of income to thousands of people and support one of the highest levels of biodiversity in the planet. Decreasing demand from the wine industry for cork stoppers would force entire communities to leave, resulting in more forest fires, desertification and the permanent loss of 2.7 million hectares of forest,”

So what are the arguments for or against cork, environmental issues aside?

Screw caps are easier to open. Great for bringing to picnics.

But wine needs to breathe to age properly, plastic corks can fail and let too much air in. Screw caps do not allow any oxygen in. Cork lets in minute amounts of air as it’s a natural product.

Cork taint affect every 1 in 10 bottles. This tends to impart a ‘corky’ taste, they said, similar to damp mouldy cardboard. So someone is always left out of pocket – the consumer, the restaurant or the manufacturer

Screw caps are easy to recognise. But I have no clue how to know if underneath the foil is a synthetic stopper or real cork!

I was wandering out of work practically dancing for joy as I have a week off to relax and chill after a hectic few months, so I go to my bike parked in the car park.. I start her up to get the engine warm, put on my crash helmet and my gloves and on I get..

I grab hold of the bars and go to paddle her backwards out of my parking space… and nothing…. She’s not moving at all…

So I push a little harder… Still nothing… No movement at all..

WTF!!! I think to myself…

I get off thinking there’s summat preventing one or other of the wheels moving and notice I’ve got a flippin flat tyre

I go back to work, swearing my head off (as you do on occasions such as this!) and announce that I’m not going anywhere.. My boss very kindly offers me a lift home, via Kings at Kidlington to pick up my boyfriends birthday present and I make it home..

When my boyfriend goes back to the office to pick a few things up later he takes a look at my tyre and notices I have a rusty screw poking a good 2″ out of my tyre!

So now I’m at home, my bike is 20 miles away in the garage at the yard and now I have to somehow get her home to our local shop to get the tyre sorted out..

I’m not impressed..

Bloody Friday the 13ths!!

I flippin hate them!!!

I officially got the Flu. My whole body is a pain right now, nose is very clogged and im really a me

I officially got the Flu. My whole body is a pain right now, nose is very clogged and im really a mess. Still waiting for death, and for wherever she is right now, she’s late. Every night i have a wicked dream that either torments me or kicks me in the ass, in the morning or every time i wake up i feel awful. Sometimes i believe that it is caused by thoughts chugged down in the depths of my consciousness, untapped and keeps on hindering you of making a bright thought that can move things out of your way.

Hmm, well, everybody’s got a dream theory and nobody knows for sure what all these stuff means. I received text messages before that the idiot in me was too naive to know that it was for me, but in the form of a general text message to people. One, perhaps im just apathetic and insensitive and stupid enough to not know that i was the one being hit by it, OR i didnt pay much attention to it, i didnt treat it as a big deal because i feel that i was not guilty of anything. And i choose the latter. If all these sms are indeed directed towards me or not, does not really matter believe me. I received different sorts of messages including one of philosophical nature of going out on a sea voyage or something, on a boat. Which, i thought was really funny. I got the gist of it, but somehow its philosophical logic, i didnt really manage to acquire. The gist of it was one should teach the boat people to endure the hard knock life of sea voyages, you know, the storms, the freezing temperatures, the meager food supply, the meager wine and ginger ale supply and the raging waves and all that. But the first premise of that particular Sms was that (and if my memory serves me right) is that one should not drum the boat/sea people to gather wood for which the boat is going to be made of, and one should not assign them task and work. But rather teach them how to endure the long hours of being on ship while waiting for a treasure island. This i cant get off my mind. Especially the literal logic of it, im aware that it should not be taken literally but in this case, like the chewbacca defense and chipotlaway, it doesnt make sense.

For one, if i was gonna build a ship for a voyage, would making a bloody good ship be of most importance? A makeshift raft that every single person can make would probably do but that would not last at sea would it? hmm, come to think of it, id rather really just buy a hundred foot yacht than get some workers to make a boat out of wood, and im saving trees as well. Goody! Getting back to the point, it is important to teach the seamen how to make a boat or ship first before teaching them to endure the bloody ocean. Why? Well for start, how can you be on the effin ocean without the use of a ship? Also, what happens when the ship gets damaged and ruptured in the middle of the adventure and no one knows how to fix the damn thing? For sure it will capsize along with dreams of amassing treasure and women on the virgin islands. Along with that, isnt it important to drum the seapeople to gather the materials and necessary items, delegate work and such? im talking about making the wooden ship, as efficient as it should be to be able to face the ravaging thunder of the pacific ocean. Also, according to the Sms, dont assign them task and work!- Blimey! Err matey, if these disemboweled pirates dont know what to do next then they are just gonna drink merrily at harper’s joint and be grinding their loots upon lavishing bosoms of ladies at them brothels. The pirate crew of Jack Sparrow depended on him to decide which work to do, and where direction they are headed. If the pirate crew decided that they do not want to be subject to Jack Sparrow’s orders as a Captain then they probably boarded the wrong ship. Or they werent cut enough to be a bloody pirate.

Im not saying the that the honest to goodness and probably conclusive sms quotation that i received is not worth a gem of truth and moral. Its also important that the seamen know how to endure or last the immense endlessness of the…sea. That much is true. What im saying is the the premise behind it is frivolous. Literally defining and translating it would make one ending up saying, (using the pirate analogy) If you want to make a ship, dont tell your pirates to gather wood for making the ship, and dont assign them tasks and works for the making Ship but rather teach them how to endure the wrath of the sea. Okay. It really made sense. (sarcasm).

Also last time i checked, i haven’t got a degree on philosophy or any humanist sociological psychological majors. So yeah. It makes me a lesser human being. I feel ashamed. Just speaking my mind, alright?

I have noticed quite a few blogs with similar topics and decided to publish mine as well. I was aboard Continental flight 350 EWR – AUS @ 7:15AM EST) and looked out of my window and realized that something about the mounting (I am sure it’s not the proper technical term but I hope I’ll get my point across using it) of the engine caught my eye. It looked like one of the screws was not all the way in, creating an odd looking shadow – which was catching my attention. When I took a closer glance, I noticed that, right below the odd looking screw, an entire screw appeared to be missing. I notified Continental about it, emphasized my extreme level of unease and discomfort during the 2+ hour of remaining flight time and put this in context with my repeat Customer Service issues I have been experiencing with Continental. Every other airline has been more responsive and more understanding – even with issues smaller than the ones I have had with Continental – than this airline. Sure, they are friendly – but ultimately, more times than not, dismissive => ‘fly with us again and we will exceed your expectations’. I have told Continental that I am very frustrated about the fact that I feel like a Customer Service lab rat and that they should have their own people, PAID STAFF, to make sure issues like mine are detected and fixed. I would claim that, to date, I have probably pointed out more of their shortcomings than most of their own staff…and I say that as some of the issues were very hard to even communicate to Continental as them being a problem. No airline has ultimately made me feel more dismissed, disregarded and unappreciated as this one. And now the issue seems to extend to their actual equipment as well…what’s next? Continental, do I have to survive septic tea or experience bruises before you consider showing some humility and making me feel like I matter…despite my lack of elite status or the fact that I don’t fly first class or don’t have your fancy credit card? A non-BS response – for once – would be nice. Heck, even Delta made me feel more appreciated..and we all know what that means…
