If you can read this, you ought to have the Scribefire Add-on for Firefox!!

I’m composing this using ScribeFire a nifty little add-on for Firefox. I can blog pages of interest just by right clicking on them or just start a new blog post from scratch. Well that got me thinking about the best way to produce all the text I need for my Linux news, software sales, Ebay etc. and how it would be nice to blog about the latest software news at the same time so for the next few weeks i’m going to produce all my text from here,

Scribefire merupakan sebuah add-on untuk internet browser Mozilla Firefox yang berfungsi untuk membantu seseorang dalam menulis blog. Scribefire mendukung beberapa blogging platform, diantaranya ada Blogger.com, WordPress.com, WordPress.org, dan berbagai platform terkenal lainnya. Mulai dari WYSIWYG editor (what you see is what you get), upload image, upload video, custom tag, dan masih banyak lagi. Pokoknya sangat sesuai dengan slogannya, “Scribefire: Fire Up Your Blogging“, Scribefire benar-benar membuat proses blogging menjadi lebih mudah dan menarik.

Sedang mencari desktop blog editor yang powerfull. Setelah search kesana-kemari pilihan jatuh pada windows live writer ama ScribeFire. Saat ini sedang testing, mana yang lebih mudah digunakan dan banyak fiturnya. Semua desktop editor tadi bisa didapatkan secara gratis… dan tulisan ini sebagai testing blogging dengan Scribfire

I have found quite a good Firefox/Iceweasel plugin which does the job well : Scribefire
The extension can be installed from the following link :

At the moment, it fullfills my needs. It can be launched in a new tab. You can add new categories right from this extension.
The editor is simple but functional.
However, I am not able to modify an article through it. Is this a missing function?

So I’m trying out ScribeFire, which I last used when it was still known as Performancing. I use the WordPress.com backend and Windows Live Writer (for image-heavy posts) most of the time, but they’re both really slow. While Writer is feature-rich, it’s a bit too heavy for times when I just want to dash off a quick post. The WP.com backend is just…slow, even though I have Turbo (downloads common files to your computer via Google Gears or something) enabled. And I don’t think it’s my connection that’s the problem. So, ScribeFire it is (for now). It’s functional, that’s for sure, but it comes out pretty ugly on my system. Example:

Another thing that sucks is how the Firefox spell checker seems to be active, but I can’t right-click on words to – oh, wait, it seems to have fixed itself.

 

The extension does allow for adding images straight from your computer (you can choose to upload via FTP or the blog’s own API), Flickr and related media from Zemanta. However, I’ve always found Zemanta pretty useless unless you’re a news-focused blogger, so yeah. It seems to be having problems with uploading images. Sigh. I’ve tried three times already, and it gets stuck on "uploading" – which then prevents the entire post from being published. I just added in my API key. Hopefully it’ll work now. Nope. Still broken.

Heh heh. So now I’m writing this using Writer. Goodbye, ScribeFire.

Уже отчаявшись найти приличный блог-клиент под нативную платформу, я все-таки решил попробовать ScribeFire. И как оказалось – не зря. Первое что меня удивило, это то, что ScribeFire является ни чем иным как расширением для блоггинга к Mozilla Firefox.

Как видно из скриншотов – ScribeFire поддерживает множество профилей блогов, обладает богатой панелью форматирования текста, и, в отличие от большинства средств для публигации, умеет работать не только с html-кодом, но и в режиме WYSIWYG. Редактор позволяет вставлять в публикуемый текст картинки (прямо на сервер, либо через FTP, либо через API блога, что крайне удобно), видео, ссылки, списки и прочее.

Кроме этого, из рассмотренных мной – это единственный редактор, который нормально работал с русскими названиями рубрик и тэгов к записи. Не менее приятна возможность (что несколько необычно для плагина к Firefox – возможность сохранения заметок, которые являются своего рода черновиками. Заметки хранятся локально, и не публикуются в блог без вашео ведома.

У ScribeFire очень богатый набор настроек, которые позволяют вам задать как отображение самого плагина, так и форматирования или типа публикуемого поста, оповещение пингами распространенных и добавленных вами блогосервисов и многое другое.

Оценка этого редактора – 5 из 5. Напоследок лишь добавлю, что именно на нем я остановил свой выбор для среды GNOME. Для тех, кто пользуется KDE существует множество других редакторов блогов, таких как KBlogger или QTM, но их рассмотрение выходит за рамки данной статьи.

Hola, estoy probando un plugin para Mozilla Firefox llamado “ScribeFire“.

Con él, puedo crear posts en cualquier tipo de blog conocido. Lo interesante es, que al ser un plugin, se integra a la interfáz del navegador. Permitiendo abrir una “paleta” en la parte inferior de la ventana con todas las opciones para crear un nuevo post en tu blog favorito (también se puede abrir como una ventana aparte u otro tab).

Altamente recomendado si querés actualizar tu blog de manera rápida y simple. Para instalarlo, podés abrir la ventana de Complementos de Firefox y en la parte de búsqueda escribir “scribefire”.

If you utilize the WordPress platform, there are tons of tools to utilize that make things run smoother.  Here are some that were highlighted by Six Revisions.  (H/T – E1evationllc on Twitter)

1. ScribeFire

ScribeFire is a Firefox plugin that gives you an array of useful features and options for writing posts. You can drag and drop content from a variety of sources (which the WordPress Visual Editor currently doesn’t fully support), manage and leave notes on your posts, upload files via the built-in FTP, create timestamps, and manage uploaded images. ScribeFire is the tool of choice for bloggers that need moar cowbell than what the WordPress built-in editor affords them.

2. WordPress Helper

Whether you’re new to WordPress or an experienced veteran blogger, you’ll find WordPress Helper to be a much-welcomed addition to your blogging arsenal. WordPress Helper notifies you of new WordPress versions, gives you the ability to set custom keyboard shortcuts, and places useful help files, accessible by right-clicking on the page on a PC, at your finger tips.

3. Screen grab to WordPress!

If you include a lot of screenshots in your posts, you should check out the free Firefox add-on, Screen grab to WordPress!. You can save a web page as an image, and then use the tool to automatically upload it to your WordPress site with a click of a button.

4. WordPress scanner

With WordPress Scanner, you can sleep easier at night knowing that your blog is safe from known and potential security vulnerabilities. WordPress Scanner is available as a web-based application, or as a WordPress plugin.

5. Broken Link Checker

Broken Link Checker is a WordPress plugin that essentially checks your hyperlinks to see if they’re still active. It scans your posts and pages to check for broken links and then notifies you via the WordPress Dashboard if there are any broken links found. You can set specific times for when the link-scanning occurs and it’s recommended you pick a low-traffic time of the day to do so.

6. Google Syntax Highlighter

If you’ve ever tried including code snipplets in your WordPress posts through the WordPress Visual Editor, only to find out how it mangles your prettily-formatted code, you’ll love Google Syntax Highlighter, a WordPress plugin that handles preformatted code in your WordPress posts and pages. Google Syntax Highlighter makes it much easier to display code on your posts and colors (“highlights”) the syntax for better readability. If Google Syntax Highlighter isn’t for you, check out WP-Syntax, WP-Chili, or SyntaxHighlighter Plus.

7. Insights

Insights is a WordPress plugin that assists you in finding and gathering information and media for your blog posts. Insights gives you the ability to search existing blog posts for specific information and an intuitive interface for searching external websites and services such as Flickr, Youtube, Wikipedia, and Google Blog search – all from within the WordPress interface.

8. Windows Live Writer

There are but a handful of notable Microsoft applications – Windows Live Writer is one of them. Windows Live Writer is a free desktop application that’s compatible with WordPress (along with other popular publishing platforms like Blogger and Typepad). You can write posts offline and upload them whenever you’re ready to publish.

If you’re a Mac user, check out ecto or Thingamablog (a cross-platform desktop app for Linux, Mac, and Windows users).

Depuis maintenant une semaine j’utilise un nouveau plugin (et oui encore un!) qui m’aide dans la rédaction des articles de ce blog. Il s’agit de de ScribeFire, une fantastique extension pour écrire rapidement sur votre blog. Accessible directement depuis le petit icône en bas de page, cet outil vous fera gagner du temps. Cependant il ne fonctionne pas avec tous les types de blogs mais avec la plupart des systèmes de publication (WordPress, Blogger, Drupal, Movable Type) et des services (WordPress.com, Typepad.com, Live Journal, Performancing, MS live Spaces,… ). Un autre outil que j’ai découvert sur le blog de Benoit Descary : BlogRovR. Cet outil permet une navigation transversale dans les blogs que nous avons l’habitude de lire. En gros lorsque vous naviguez et que vous tombez sur un site qui vous intéresse,

BlogRovR affichera dans le coin inférieur droit un menu sur lequel vous trouverez la liste des blogues qui ont écrit un billet à propos de ce site. Cela vous évite de rechercher de l’information, elle s’affiche sans même la demander. Au préalable vous devez importer tous vos flux RSS à l’aide d’un fichier OPML après avoir installé l’extension BlogRovR dédiée pour Firefox. Enfin un dernier Flook qu’on peut associé à Firefox car il s’agit en quelque sorte de son petit cousin (en gros ils utilisent la même technologie). Ce nouveau navigateur a été développé par un groupe de passionnés qui avaient comme but de garder contact avec leur réseau social au travers de leur navigateur.

Flock permet :

la gestion de vos photos dans Flickr grâce à plein de fonctionnalités

la lecture de tous vos flux RSS directement dans le navigateur sans extension particulière
la recherhe rapide sur plusieurs moteur de recherche (yahoo, google, ebay, etc)
la sauvegarde de vos favoris dans votre compte del.icio.us
l’écriture des articles de votre blog.

Pour l’écriture sur votre blog, c’est d’une simplicité infantile, vous avez accès à tous moment au formulaire pour poster votre article. Vous pouvez même en naviguant sélectionner un texte puis faire Blog This pour ecrire à partir cette sélection. Un autre « plus » c’est que vous avez la même fonctionnalité avec les images vues sur le web.

La compatibilité des extensions Firefox est seul bémol pour les aficionados de ce navigateur Web. En effet vous aurez du mal à installer toutes vos extensions firefox préférées.

ScribeFire gehört zu den wundervollen Extensions-Angeboten für den Mozilla Firefox Web Browser. ScribeFire ermöglicht es, einmal im Browser installiert, während des Surfens auf anderen Seiten von dort aus ad hoc loszubloggen. Und zwar auf dem eigenen Blog, ohne ihn erst ansurfen zu müssen. ScriveFire benötigt einmalig die Account-Informationen und funktioniert über einen in den Browser integrierten Texteditor, der sich auf Wunsch, gleich wo man surft, öffnen lässt. Beim Surfen über eine Website kann man via rechten Mausklick aus dem aufgehenden Optionen-Menü ScribeFire auswählen, den Texteditor öffnen, die aktuelle Website bleibt dabei sichtbar (und scrollbar!). So lässt sich über gefundene Informationen von vor Ort aus detailliert ohne das Switchen zwischen einzelnen Browser-Tabs, berichten.

Aber nicht nur das – ScribeFire bietet dem User sämtliche Optionentools, die man beispielsweise als wordpress-Blogger gewohnt ist. Selbst neue Kategorien lassen sich von hier aus problemlos und selbsterklärend einrichten. Sogar eine Blog-”Preview” ist möglich. Dann einfach auf den veröffentlichen-Button gehen und raus damit.

I have not blogged for a while, but I have found a tool that allows me to just blog from a more convenient platform. ScribeFire seems to be working, and this is a test post. =)

ScribeFire Blog Editor :: Add-ons for Firefox I was perusing the latest issue of Laptop Magazine (July 2009) and there was an excellent article in it on “10 Indispensable Firefox Add-Ons” by Kenneth Butler.  Since I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser of choice, I was quite interested to see what the article’s author would recommend.  ScribeFire is one add-on that is touted as helpful to the blogger.  It sits as an icon on your taskbar and then, as you are surfing the Web and you find interesting things that you want to blog about, you can bring up ScribeFire and be writing a post about what you are viewing and then you can post it to your blog without leaving the website.  It would appear that you can add pictures and do all of the normal editing that you would be able to do in Dashboard mode within WordPress (just as an example, since I use WordPress for my blogging).  I know that there are plenty of times when I am surfing the Web and come across things that I think might be of interest to my blog readers and this seems like it will be a good tool to use to fire off a quick blog post as I’m doing my surfing.

Read It Later: Save Your One Read Wonders The other tool that I decided to add to Firefox was Read It Later.  This handy little app gives you the ability to simply click on a little check mark on your address bar when you find something that looks interesting but you don’t have the time to really look it over right then.  The add-on saves the link for you and later, when you have more time, you can click on an arrow beside a little “book” icon and a drop-down list will appear with all the links that you have saved.  As you read them, you can mark them “read” and then have the option of saving them to various places like Delicious.  You can add tags to your saved links, making searching for a particular topic easier.  You can also access your unread pages across different computers or devices, such as the iPhone.  Another neat feature is that you can arrange to read your saved pages “offline”, a nice touch if you know that you will be offline for awhile.

Addon firefox, scribefire, adalah editor blogging sederhana tapi canggih. sy suka memakai scribefire disebabkan dapat memudahkan sy dalam mengurus berpuluh puluh blog yg sy miliki. Hehehe tak terbayang loh betapa sukarnya mempertahankan mereka bila sy tidak memiliki software ini. Sekarang tanpa harus login ke sana ke mari, sy sudah bisa menerbitkan posting terbaru tanpa harus menghabiskan waktu di dashbard. Sy menemukan tool ini secara tidak sengaja dari salah seorang posting blogger senior dan sy merasa beruntung sekali. Awalnya kesukaran mengurus blog itu ada pada kesukaran memposting secara reguler dan sekarang masalah tsb teratasi berkat blog editor ini. Blogging pun jadi mudah.

Sy sudah mencoba tool ini. Dan secara perlahan menjadi penggemar setiap. Hmm memang belum begitu faham. Maksud dari paham ini adalah sy belum pernah melihat source code asli addon ini. Namun sy rasa addon ini bersifat gratis jadi pasti tersedia source code asli. Heheeh sudahlah mari kita hentikan blogger bandung sesat ini yg bermimpi blog web design kepunyaannya bisa menjadi blog yg rutin dikunjungi orang lain hehehe
