Consumers must know that the fullform of sd is secure digital. Many cards now had got the approval of secure digital association along with sd card. Many kinds of approved cards such as mini sd, micro sd who’s older name was transflash card. Both mini sd and micro sd cards carries same benefits in MMC, SD, SDIO slots with the help of an adaptor. The users of different kinds of cards find various ranges in terms of the capacities of the sd card. Presently sd card is having 4 MB to 2GB showing their applicability in the market on different cards. Later in 1990 Sandisk , Matsushita and Toshiba thought to develop sd card which can be launched in the market.

Several branded companies such as Matsushita, SanDisk, and Toshiba produced sd card to get applicable in many portable devices. One should have the information that sd card is infact a non-volatile memory card. At present sd card is booming in the market showing its prescence in many products like digital cameras, digital camcorders, handheld computers, PDAs, media players, mobile phones, video games etc. Infact the branded sd card storing capacities differs from 1 MB to 4GB.

Now consumers must know that the standard sd cards are not used in thinner mmc slots. The mini sd card gets adjusted in several sd slots with the help of an adapter . Infact these mini sd cards looks mediumer in size and shape with no electrical interface. Now a days sd card is having the usage in compact fash and pc card slots. Several sd cards shows the usage in usb connector for matching the compatibility with the help of desktop and laptop PC’s. Consumers very easily made sd card accessible via floppy disk with the help of flash path adapter. Most of the sd card don’t have write safety notch. Not only this consumers must know that the sd card not showing its prescence in many micro sd and mini sd formats in the market.

11/5 a/noon-I noticed upon activation it was required (by apple personnel devotee), Murray shuffled over to encourage salesman (Robby) to perform a boot on newly purchased 3 g s. This was necessary, evidently, that the “ATT Character Set” would initiate in a download enabling (thereafter) to actuate the attachment option with SMS and MMS texting. Same keys involved as taking a still off an i-movie via PRINT-screen; yet, to hold down on/off + home key down longer until it reboots. It seems like there is no option with the iphone to pop open the back cover and remove the battery and then replace it again like so often is the case with other cell phone models for a hard reboot (re-set); whereas, most do a soft boot by inserting stylus into a small pin hole.

Apple is typically a sealed deal when it comes to open design hardware; in fact, large warning was given at a “10/11-a/noon apple 3 gs class” to be very careful with the pokey tool in removing the SD card or was it the SIM CARD? (actually they prefer we defer to the techs to do this little operation very delicate procedure it was described as) or was it the SIM CARD that ejects? Does apple iphones even use sim cards? Please share and add further would be appreciated. Thank You!

This is the first time since I got my MacBook Pro a month ago that I’m getting annoyed at it.

This is the first time since I got my MacBook Pro a month ago that I’m getting annoyed at it. It is all sweet and dandy when you have all the setup at home and it plugs straight into your monitor and all adapters fit perfectly. It’s a totally different ballgame when you go to a friend’s place unsuspectingly and they ask you to play a video on their brand new LCD monitor and you realize you don’t have an adapter that will work. All in all very frustrating.

As most new LCD or Plasmas these days go, it is guaranteed to come with HDMI output. Seriously why in the world are all these bloody manufacturers coming out with like a gazillion different types of connectors every year and hope for compliance from the users. I for one am baffled. Apple has always stuck true to it’s core, always coming out with brand new ways to screw everyone over because of all the proprietary ports. Special power adapters, special mini display port, special fire wire compliance… Gosh… Seriously how hard would it be to chuck on an extra HDMI??

Most importantly after not complying with SD card slots in so long, Apple finally have gave up and added them to their new range of MacBooks. All I can say is thank gawd. At least that’s one less adapter to rummage around and bring along before going anywhere. See the pattern though?? In the end majority wins, and that’s what is happening here. Wake up?!?!

I admit that express cards are kind of obsolete now and not many people even care about them anymore. I on the other hand have always sought them out because I use that to watch and record my TV shows on my AverMedia TV card. Well I used to anyway, until I got the MacBook. Now it’s sitting somewhere in my closet unused. Simply because I can’t use it. Again, how hard is it? My old Sony VAIO SGN35 had everything this MacBook Pro had. It even had in built modem, express card slot, VGA (back in the day), and a front loading disc drive. The only things it doesn’t have is all the proprietary stuff Apple insists on chucking into every machine they build. Sigh..

Oh well, not like my complaining will make it any different. So I guess that’s it. Don’t get me wrong I’m still very much in love with my MacBook Pro it’s just some small things can really wreck your day.

Kingston today announced that it has teamed up with Paramount Pictures to deliver full-length movies

Kingston today announced that it has teamed up with Paramount Pictures to deliver full-length movies on it’s flash memory products. The company announced that the movie offerings on USB and SD cards will help reach wider audience as more and more movies are viewed on computers and other portable devices.

Owning movies on a USB or SD drive falls somewhere between owning a physical disc and owning/renting/streaming digital content in terms of consumer’s perception about owning something that they buy. Nowadays almost every computer comes with a DVD drive and not all portable devices support SD cards. This is going to narrow down the prospective audience for this new offering. Also, as people are moving towards Blu-ray high definition content, it would be difficult to get people buy this DVD quality movie offering in USB/SD cards.

As more and more content is made available in digital format, it remains to be seen whether this kind of offering is going to help Hollywood studios make money that are already affected by dwindling DVD/CD sales.

Thinking I would make a photo post today, I fished through my drawer trying to find my SD card reader. I don’t actually have it with me… >__> I left it at home with my mom, so she could use her camera. I have to use my laptop, and its safely away in my backpack right now, as I don’t have wifi in here.

I’ll make a photo post tomorrow, maybe.

I’ve been playing the Discworld Mud, as I have been a lot lately.

So, the game uses a bunch of random programming within itself. You can script and code your own aliases to make life easier, and even put simple variables into your description.

When I wear a mask, or whatnot, my character description shows the following, with the item name of whatever it is I’m wearing showing through.

Tiny gnome eyes peer at you through a black and white harlequin mask.

When I’m not wearing the mask, it shows the following instead.

In the spot where his face would be, there is a hole containing a small gnome sitting in an ornate dark purple chair.

Wallpaper Corner!

Definitely not made by me. Also, don’t ask me why they’re both Harley Quinn wallpapers… I do not know why I grabbed them.

A Secure Digital card or as popularly known as carte sd is a memory card having very high capacity and is ultra small in size.Due its tiny size SD card is easily integrated in various portable devices like mobile phones, digital cameras, digital video camcorders,GPS receivers,PDAs,handheld computers etc. It also takes care of the two basic considerations of portable devices which are minimum battery consumption and very high data transfer rate. SD card makes use of flash memory and the data that it stores remains saved even if it loses its external power supply.

When SD card was first developed its dimensions were 24mm X 32mm X 2.1mm and it was jointly marketed by SanDisk, Matsushita and Toshiba in 1999.The electrical contacts of the card are present beneath the surface of the card in order to prevent their contact with user’s fingers. SD cards have their format similar to MultiMedia card and are also similar in size weighing approximately 2 grams.

SD card is particularly useful for the distribution of the copyrighted stuff such as videos, ebooks etc. since it provides security by its encryption abilities. In order to make the SD cards more saleable new features are being added nowadays. SanDisk are making SD cards that have USB connecters. This negates the need of any card reader and enables it to directly plug into USB port. Some SD cards also have Wi-Fi capabilities. There are also various data recovery programs available that can recover deleted data, photos etc. from SD card even from formatted cards.

So recently I was in the market for a new video camera. For years and years I had sworn that I

So recently I was in the market for a new video camera. For years and years I had sworn that I’d avoid anything that records to harddisc or flash memory purely because to me, tape was god.

Anyway, like God, I soon realised that it really wasn’t for me and I needed to change because capturing from tape sucks, takes ages and if the tape gets fucked, the footage gets fucked. So fuck that.

So I was looking around at various options, and I didn’t want to really sink a whole load of cash into a camera, because in all honesty I probably won’t really use it all that much outside of filming Arcane shows and other little bits of bullshit to waste time.

I decided to go the flash memory camera route. SD cards are cheap as anything these days and go up to stupid amounts of space, so I figured I’d go with that. There were a couple of cameras I was looking at, each had their pros and cons and I was to-ing and fro-ing between them for ages. There was the JVC which was supposed to be pretty great, but the menu system and control just SHITTED me to no end, and there was the Panasonic which had familar menus (have 2 other Panasonic video cameras), but wasn’t supposed to be a spectacular low light performer.

I decided that I’d go with the Panasonic, because it was a brand I knew and could trust, and while low-light would be important for what I’d be filming (bands), it’s not like I’d be shooting for professional release quality BluRay or anything. I was just looking for pure unadulterated standard def glory.

So the Panasonic was it. Took SD cards which I have an abundance of and all was great…I’d deal with any low light issues as they arose.

So I head down to my friendly JB HiFi and look at said Panasonic camera in the cabinet. But my eyes, they did wander. Up and down the cabinet I looked…past the JVC with their horrible “laser touch” navigation system…to a Sony .

“Sony?!” I asked myself. “Why the HELL would you want to get a Sony? Sure they make awesome cameras…but dude…Memory Stick? What the sweet fuck is that shit? The only other thing you have that takes Memory Stick is your PSP that you never ever ever ever play. Eyes off the Sony and back on the Panasonic damn it!”

So I look at the Panasonic again…and my eyes drift back up to the Sony and the little note on it’s price tag that says “4gb internal memory”. This gets my attention. “A puny 4GB?! Is that all?!” I ask myself. “You wouldn’t fit much on that you tool!” I say. But then I look back at the Panasonic which has a grand total of zero GB internal memory. Some has got to be better than none right?

So my mind is torn in two directions. If I was Wang…that bottle just wouldn’t slice in half. I’d have to rely on Jack’s reflexes to catch it. No horse shit.

The attractive sales girl comes over and I ask if I can have a look at one of the cameras. She says “Sure thing, big boy, you can have a look at any of my cans.”. I had to correct her “No no, I said cameras…can I look at a camera.”. She blushed and got the key out. OK so that totally never happened, but she did open the cabinet and I pulled out…THE SONY! Holy crap what was I doing? I had extensively researched the JVC and the Panasonic so that I could be sure I was getting a camera that would best suit me and my needs and compliment my other technology! Why was the Sony in my hands?!

I turned it on…it gave a delightful little chirp. I panned and tilted around the store, scoping DVDs and TVs and other customers. I zoomed. I explored the menus, all of which were operated via touchscreen on the LCD panel. “Jolly gosh” I said to myself, and my sultry and seductive sales girl sidekick. “This camera is quite snazzy and fun to use!”. Inside I was screaming at myself “PUT IT DOWN YOU FOOL! PANASONIC ALL THE WAY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

The voice in my head was telling me truths I didn’t want to have to think about. “What if Sony do some strange things with the files it saves…what if the codecs are bizarre and make it impossible to edit without re-encoding first…what if they use some proprietory Sony file format…remember you read about that somewhere?”. These things were all valid points that one would usually research at length before making a purchase.

I don’t know what happened next because I’m pretty sure I blacked out in the store. I awoke in my car to find that I had bought a Sony Handicam. “Quick, go back inside and exchange it!” I told myself. But I felt that to be on the safe side, seeing as I was sure I had just passed out, I thought I probably shouldn’t get up out of my car right away. I decided to investigate what I had purchased in my state of unconciousness.

Turns out what I bought was a fucking brilliant little camera! It came with a 16GB Memory Card Pro Duo or whatever they are.

I took it with me to the Arcane/HOSN album launch on Saturday night to film Arcane’s set and it performed just amazingly for what it is. A cheap little flash memory camcorder. Low light picture turned out great, the mic didn’t blow out from the intense loudness that the in-house sound guy somehow thought Arcane needed. It did it’s job absolutely amazingly.

“AH HA! But what about the file format?” I hear you say. Well…it records to mpg. Which I can drag directly into my editing software, which works a breeze with absolutely no problems.

It was a purchase that could have ended so very horribly. No research on it, the complete opposite of what I planned to get. Yet it works brilliantly.

Thanks, Sony!

Sel nädalavahetusel on issil sünnipäev, kurb. Järgmisel nädalavahetusel on plaan kluppi minna (ma olen kaine autojuht, ärandame kadri bemmi ära ;D), kolmapäeval peaks oma piletid kätte saama. Algsete plaanide järgi olid laupäev-pühapäev klubipäevad, nüüd täpsustas moml, et tegelt on reede – laupäev. Edu mulle, kaks päeva järjest klubitamas…Kivi kotti.. ei… Kaks kivi kotti.

I have been wanting to buy an iMac for months now and then this news! Argh. My trusted Macbook Pro still works though. I named her “Melissa” I can still do my tasks perfectly well with it. And yeah I just conquered Spain! – in Medieval Total War 2 that is

But an iMac would be really good in the my home-office. I feel lazy with the laptop on the table, I needed a desktop. Well a big part of it is my procrastination flu, but yeah an iMac would be plenty nice!

And yes I have read about it today, there is a new iMac. Rumored to be “slimmer” than the current one. It will lose the FWs, and will have an SD card slot. A quad core processor (sweet). And XEON.

There’s formal confirmation about this upgrade yet, only the ever famous “from sources familiar with the product”.

But I was thinking, I would not want it to have an SD card slot. I do not own an SD card, nor a camera that uses it. My old EOS350D uses a CF, and a I have a USB Card slot. I wonder if my friends who take photography as a serious hobby or a job want that feature though. How widely used is an SD card?

Last night I saw a singer promoting his album on a variety show on TV. And his album was not on CD but on an SD card.

Is it the way to the future? Looks like an ugly chip to me.

With 93 D80 reviews already posted, the world needs another one like it needs higher oil prices. In

With 93 D80 reviews already posted, the world needs another one like it needs higher oil prices. In any event, we all have our opinions so I’ll impose mine upon you now.

After 30+ years of shooting with Nikon film cameras, I decided to stick with the brand when switching to digital. It was a tossup between the D80 and D200, as either of them would fit my needs.

Since my eyesight now requires auto focus, the fact that my manual focus Nikkors will not meter with the D80 but will with the D200 didn’t make a difference. That being the case, I saved a few hundred dollars and bought a D80.

Cutting to the chase, I am amazed by the image quality. It took a few hundred shots to “zero in” on the settings that I prefer, but now it turns out very consistent results.

If I’m so satisfied with the D80, how come I only gave it 4 stars? I’m glad that you asked. After 4 months of ownership, I think that I’ve found some weaknesses that I hope Nikon will address with the D80’s replacement.

1- Matrix metering, as configured in the D80, is too sensitive to very light or dark areas in the center of the frame. With a dark central area, it’s far too easy to blow out the highlights. When they’re gone, they’re gone. No amount of magic can put back what isn’t there to begin with. Sure, you can dial in some exposure compensation, but why should you have to?

2- Dear Nikon, Please, Please, Please put a stiffer detent on the door for the SD card. I’m really tired of finding it open in the middle of a shoot. It’s only a matter of time until I find that it’s snapped off.

3- Speaking of detents. An interlock is needed to keep the mode dial where it’s placed. It’s far too easy to wind up in some idiot mode instead of remaining in aperture priority. Nothing is worse than having the flash pop up and fire because the dial slipped.

4- While not exclusive to the D80, Nikon is the only manufacturer that does not include a fully-featured RAW converter in its software package. What’s up with that? RAW is all that many advanced amateurs and pros shoot, so why isn’t a converter included? It wasn’t a deal breaker for me, but I felt like my pocket was being picked.

Anyway, it’s all about the images and those that come out of the D80 are as good as I’ve ever seen from a camera in this class. When I look at the 16X20 prints on my walls I’m almost ready to give Nikon that extra star. Almost, but not quite.

Enough with reading reviews…..go to your local camera store (if you still have one) and wrap your hands around the cameras you’re considering. Trust me, you could be out there shooting instead of wasting so much time reading reviews. )

Patrick Jost has 3 4gb cards and a pair of 2gb cards with his current camera. Also a pair of 1gb cards with his backup/spare camera.

When travelling, his greatest fear is losing the camera itself, plus any cards in it or the bag. When he swaps a card out, it stays away from the bag until its been backed up. Paranoid, maybe. It also introduces another risk. Loose cards.

Patrick Jost has been known to rotate the cards on different travel days. At the end of day one, the card comes out, even if it’s not full. It might be used again on day four. That way, a card failure will be from different parts of the trip, rather than eliminating a whole section.

On his last trip, one picture was corrupted. It was necessary to shut the camera down and restart to recover so it was probably a camera issue. It hasn’t failed in several hundred shots since then. Needless to say, that card came out right away and wasn’t used again until the pictures were off-loaded and the card reformatted.

It’s been a while since I wrote down my thoughts on the economy. In my last State of the Economy I wrote that I believed in a double dip. I am not so sure anymore. The reality is that home values are not on the rise yet, unemployment is still high, the number of foreclosures and credit card defaults are up, and worst of all consumer sentiment has not improved linearly with the stock market.

We have seen some good results from companies that are now reporting the effects of their first half cost cutting, but I don’t that many can claim that their sales are up. Most analysts believe in a weak rebound, which clear since it will take a long time to fix home equity values and unemployment giving consumers again the comfort to spend. So if sales will only grow marginally and companies can only cut so much, I believe that companies cannot keep meeting investor expectations and we will see a secondary dip. It wont be as bad as the first… more of a reality check than a dip.

Read: http://www.cnbc.com/id/32505016

Then again I do not make my living off making stock predictions and analysis corporate financial reports. It could be that the stock markets have anticipated what is to come and the slow rebound is already built in to the numbers. Even if they aren’t we will all be ok is we all believe that they are.

Now I wrote in the spring about the Asia market bubble and how those economies are so dependent on the west for growth that it is logical that they will only rebound in a second wave. Just today I read that the Chine’s economy will grow 8.5% in the third quarter, which is dismal in comparison the the last few wild years, but still good growth.

But read this: http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Investing/JubaksJournal/chinas-recovery-is-it-for-real.aspx.

The Chine’s economy is a bit like a Ponzy scheme (bad example, but you get the idea). It requires an ever increasing momentum to sustain the growth. If the western rebound remains weak the momentum wont be there and the economic growth cycle cannot sustain itself.

I still believe that the traditional economic power houses will rebound first (G8). The US rebound has lost focus with the HealthCare debate. Health care is fundamentally an economic issue and must be resolved on the long term, but was 2009 really the year to do it?

I have to admit I am not as well versed on the debate as I should be, but let’s not let the fact stop me from commenting… it doesn’t seem to bother others either. I believe there needs to be a public option, but creating another entitlement that we cannot afford is not fiscally responsible. The public option should cover basic healthcare and leave premium options optional. The public option might not be (read: will not be) on par with the current average policy, but it would be a lot better than nothing at all. I think the public option should be subsidized by a corporate healthcare tax. Assuming that current policies would become cheaper due to the base package being heavily discounted for all policies, companies should be able to pay the delta back as a health care tax without a hit on their operating costs. Through a public option’s shear purchasing power we should be able to source a basic universal package from the private sector in the sense of free market economy (which I personally believe has the potential to be more efficient than a state run system), which subsidized by a corporate health care tax equal to the savings delta should be able to subsidize health care to most of the currently uninsured 8.9% that require subsidies. The health insurance industry would have to get with the program. The pharmaceutical industry already seems to be with the program. Subsidized doesn’t mean free. Also the currently uninsured would have to contribute, but at least there would be a subsidized option that is attainable for all.

The base package should be mandated federally to every policy. The few percent that cannot afford even a subsidized offering need to be funded with an increase in the federal tax percentage (which should be balanced by cutting from somewhere else). Let’s call it a social responsibility tax. Providing basic preventive care to all should reduce overall cost of healthcare to the tax payer and not increase it.

My first baby. This was given to me as a gift and I have used the Canon FS100 from a top of a rolle

My first baby. This was given to me as a gift and I have used the Canon FS100 from a top of a roller coaster to some fun usage with friends and family inside somewhere and outside. From being a newbie at camcorders, this camera delivers for easy to use, on the go, kind of people. Before the whole HD craze came out, SD cameras were/are the trend, low budget of under $600 (this one goes for $399) and compact.

This camera is straight forward, there is photo capture (a function rarely touched, but only because I have a point and shoot Canon that captures higher quality photos), there is the video capture mode, photo and playback mode. The zoom is 48x advanced zoom, and let me tell you, I remember playing with the zoom from inside my sister’s condo and accidentally zooming into buildings 3 or 4 miles away. It works, but image stabilization becomes distorted especially if you do not have a steady hand.

Preferably, I like to use this camera for close encounters rather than exceeding and distorting its value for something further away. The video quality for this Canon is not exceptional for it’s name but it is exceptional for people who do not know what to expect. I did not know what to expect and the quality works for what I produce. I produce silly videos from moments captured in my life and although it is not as sharp and vibrant as newer HD cameras, the concept, design and features from the Canon FS100 are all one needs to get by if they are on a budget.

Turn ons: Compact, easy to use, and has an image stabilizer for those with unsteady hands.

Turn offs: Flimsy joystick for navigation with the UI, optical zoom becomes distorted when exerted all the way, and no HD.
