I apologize for the “random/horrible” theme song of the day but I just had to do it.  This weekend I feel like I heard this song 75 times and I am kind of obsessed with ONE part.  Aside from the fact that this beat sounds like A Millie and it features one of the most HORRIBLE rappers ever, Gucci Mane, the song is getting some HEAVY rotation on the air waves.  It’s quite amazing to me that the new hottest rappers in the game are Gucci Mane and OJ Da Juiceman.  I’m not sure if it is their lack of talent or the fact that they are so horrible that it’s funny but these dudes are RUNNING shit right now.  Every time I turn on the radio, these cats are on.  And now they are featured on songs with Mariah Carey, R. Kelly and Jadakiss.  Sigh.  Anyways, Break Up by Mario featuring Gucci Mane and Sean Garret is my theme song/video for today.  The video just dropped a couple days ago.  I think I just want everyone else to suffer for a day like I did this weekend.  So enjoy and feel my pain.  This song is ALMOST as good as the Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston movie.

With CAA by her side, BoA is renewing her energy to strike America by storm! BoA and Sean Garrett also took part in the VMAJ’s Red Carpet where both confirmed that the next single off her first U.S. album ‘BoA’ will be “Energetic”. This news was delivered by both BoA and Sean Garrett themselves, so unless our ears are misleading us, this is confirmed. “Energetic” is another song written by Sean Garrett.

With CAA by her side, BoA is renewing her energy to strike America by storm! She will be taking the stage on Sunday, June 28th, to perform at San Francisco Pride 2009. BoA will be joining other headliners such as Solange Knowles and The Cliks. Lady Gaga was on the verge of success when she performed “Just Dance” at last year’s San Francisco Pride. Will BoA follow Lady Gaga’s success and have her chance to shine?

Video Music Award Japan 2009 (VMAJ 2009) was held on 30th May in Saitama Super Arena, and it saw the participations of Korean artistes like Big Bang and BoA.

BoA performed the title song ‘I Did It For Love’ off her American debut album live with her producer Sean Garrett; the Big Bang members also spoke in Japanese to greet their fans.

It was however a shame that group Dong Bang Shin Ki did not win the ‘Best Video Awards’ today, and they did not participate in the awards ceremony.

Big Bang attend VMAJ 2009 for the first time, and they were there as guest celebrities.

They also introduced the performing stage of Katy Perry, and greeted and spoke to their Japanese fans in Japanese.

This will be one of the largest overseas award ceremonies that the group has participated since their debut. They are currently working on advancing into the Japanese major music market.

Singer BoA performed the title song ‘I Did It For Love’ off her American debut album with her album producer Sean Garrett for ‘2009 Video Music Awards Japan (VMAJ 2009)’ on 30th May.

The music awards was held in Saimata Super Arena. A photo of the 2 of them were posted earlier on ‘VMAJ 2009′ homepage with ‘A world class performance to be opened’ attached with it today. Their performance was introduced as ‘BoA and Sean Garrett’s dream performance” on the show.

Popular group Dong Bang Shin Ki had a miss at ‘Best Group Video’ for the awards this time.

Their MV for ‘MIROTIC’ was nominated for the award category but the award eventually went to Exile with the MV ‘Ti amo’.

Other videos nominated for the award is group Franz Ferdinand’s ‘Ulysses’ and The Killers‘ ‘Human’. .

‘MIROTIC’ went up to the Oricon daily chart when it was released as the group’s 24th single last October in Japan. And the song had received much love from music fans.

It is a shame that the group did not win the award, but they are currently having their 4 concert tour in Japan ‘2009 – The Secret Code’ and was not able to attend the awards ceremony.

I do not understand how people still do not know about Sef, undoubtedly one of the best singers in the country, so I decided to share more with you all.

He originally broke onto the scene as part of the phenomenon that is So Solid Crew, he is now part of Music Kidz (founded by Mr Shabz, the producer behind many of So Solid’s hits including ‘Haters‘) who are signed to Jay-Z’s ROC Nation.

A new album from Sef is on the way, the first single is Need A Hero (video to be filmed soon), not many people know but Sef was signed to Atlantic records and has worked with the likes of Platinum selling Robin Thicke and singer/songwriter Sean Garret (who has written for Chris Brown, Janet Jackson, Usher, Britney Spears and Beyonce to name a few), so the talent he possesses cannot be denied.

This is BoA’s self titled debut album. BoA is originally an artist from Korea, where’s she’s still semi active. Her main interest is Japan though and that’s where she’s been active for the most part.

Surprisingly this is a really really solid album. She’s really not trying to be anyone else than who she is in terms of music style. I’m a long time listener of BoA so the style isn’t surprising for me, but it does have a slightly harder edge to it. That’s not to say that it isn’t mainstream. Because it is. But unlike Utada, BoA pulls it off MUCH better.

I really want to take the time to commend BoA for her great grasp of English. You can tell, since her debut single Eat You Up was released that she’s really been working hard on her English. And it shows in any one of the songs. In particular listen to her pronunciation of her l’s. She does a great job. Keep up the great job BoA!

Moving on. The album combines regular pop and a edgy dance floor beat to give you a fast paced album. Starting off with her collaboration with Sean Garret, I Did It For Love. This should be her next single. If her and her record company, SM Entertainment, decide to go ahead and issue some re-cut singles off the album. The song is just incredibly catchy with a solid beat and tune that definitely has me wanting to dance. But I can do that later. I’ve got a review to write right now.

About the only song that doesn’t quite make sense on the album is her song, Look Who’s Talking. That song rubs me wrong on so many ways. Kinda like a bump in the road that you don’t quite expect. Now that’s not to say its the world’s worst song, but I would’ve liked to see it tweaked.

Another song that gets a mention is Girls On Top. Originally this song was done in Korean. She never released it to her Japanese market that I could tell with a quick look through on Wikipedia. But now she has. And the song just fits.

This album will be released on March 17, 2008 in the United States as BoA’s self titled album. And is available on iTunes or AmazonMP3 as well as in CD shops near you. (Hopefully…) In Japan it will be released on March 18, 2009 as a disc on BoA’s third best album, BEST & USA. Which also features a collection of BoA’s Japanese hits.

DAMN, so many things to buy…

Sean Garrett’s ode to those DrunkAndHotGirls. Usually the worn out R&B/Rap hybrid is whack..but with the beat flucuation, the as usual (DOPE) production courtesy of Pharrell, makes this a pretty (DOPE) music to ride to. Or..well..get drunk to. From Royce’s Patron addiction being captured on video and this song, Patron’s stock should be rising(wait..then again…we are in a recession).

Since it is Monday of a new week I feel obligated to let you know whats going good for the week. First a while back I wrote a post on Tally Hall. Well this band from Ann Arbor Michigan will start showing its internet show today. Plus they are performing on the Craig Ferguson show tomorrow night for the second time of their careers. The internet show will include hilarious skits that the band members write and play themselves on these skits. It’s like the internet version of the band, The Monkees, comedy television show but actually funny. The only song they have a really music video for is “Good Day” after the re-release of their CD Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum.

Another cool song I heard is the release of the video for Ludacris‘ “What Them Girls Like”. The song features Chris Brown and Sean Garret. The song and the video is hott. Chris Brown is on another record that will be a hit. Who would’ve thought

Thirdly, a band called Houston Calls will be releasing a sophomore album called “An End of an Error” on October 14th. Its been almost 3 years since their first album which was very good. So look out for them later this fall. This another release from one of my favorite record labels, Drive Thru Records. I really cannot wait for this one.
