I’m not a  big fan of this guy but his songs are alright.  Collaborating with Sean Paul and Lil Jon, his next single ‘Do You Remember’ debuted with some success.   Would only give this a “Warm” rating because the song itself isn’t that catchy and its not one you can listen to over and over again.  Check it out.

Jay Sean is on a roll! His latest track “Do You Remember” featuring dancehall artist Sean Paul and rapper Lil Jon was released on iTunes two days ago and the sales just went through the roof.

The song currently holds the number one spot on iTunes’ R&B chart. All we can say is way to go Jay Sean and we hope that his newest track gains the same fame as his hit single “Down.”

Beyonce stunned on them after taking three top prizes at the ceremony : Best Female R&B/ Soul artist,Song of the Year : Single Ladies, I Am… Sasha Fierce : Album of the Year.

Neither of them desserving the price, i was bewildered by the fact that she lost out on the “ Prestigious Record of the Year “ tittle that went to Jamie Foxx for T-pain autotune collaboration” Blame it”.Is that a joke ? I mean are they really serious ?Then they wonder why the music industry nowadays lacks soul on the top of being a corporate piece of trash.

Meanwhile Keri Hilson was a double winner walking away with the Best New Artist award and Best collaboration for Knock You Down, her hit with Kanye West and Ne-yo.

Soul star Maxwell, who was nominated in four categories, only managed to win one, for Best Male R&B/Soul Artist, beating competition from the likes of Robin Thicke and Raphael Saadiq.

Angie Stone, Erykah Badu and Fantasia collaborated with rap pioneer Melle Mel to honour Khan, singing her hits Through the Fire and Tell Me Something Good. 
They weren’t the only singers to bring the audience to their feet – Chico DeBarge, Boyz II Men, Johnny Gill and Estelle hit the stage with actress presenter Taraji P. Henson to belt out a medley of Motown hits to mark the label’s 50th anniversary.


The awards show, co-hosted by actor Terrence Howard, will air on U.S. TV on 29November (09).

Serani är 27-åringen som startade sin producentkarriär endast 19 år gammal. Tillsammans med två vänner grundade han producentkollektivet DASECA 2001.

Serani ligger bland annat bakom världshits som We Be Burnin’ med Sean Paul och Dutty Wine med Tony Matterhorn.

Men att producera var uppenbarligen inte tillräckligt för producentgeniet. Förra året släppte han singeln No Games och duetten Doh tillsammans med Bugle.

Sedan dess har nog många längtat efter plattan som släpptes i tisdags.

Debutplattan heter, precis som singeln, No Games och innehåller 14 spår, varav de flesta helt nya.

Seranis blandning av pop, RnB och lättviktar-dancehall får säkert många reggaekonnässörer att rynka på näsan. Men sannolikt kommer plattan att sälja som smör i solsken och många The Voice-lyssnare kommer säkert att hitta en ny favorit.

El cantante jamaiquino Sean Paul reemplazará a Calle 13 en el evento “Circotic”, cuyos organizadores cancelaron su actuación luego de que el líder de la agrupación boricua insultara al gobernador de Puerto Rico, Luis Fortuño.

Los productores del concierto, a celebrarse el 31 de octubre en The Arena Fairgrounds Pier 10 del Viejo San Juan, decidieron vetar a Calle 13 luego de que el cantante René Pérez, Residente, insultara a Fortuño durante los premios MTV Latinoamérica el pasado 15 de octubre.

Los organizadores informaron hoy también que el grupo boricua de reggae Cultura Profética participará en el espectáculo que estaba previsto realizarse en principio en el coliseo Roberto Clemente.

“Realmente tenemos lo mejor de cada género”, destacó Carlos Argomániz, director de la agencia Armada y productor del evento en un comunicado.

Además de Sean Paul y Cultura Profética, el evento contará con los talentos de Robbie Rivera en electrónico, Circo en rock, J-King y Maximan en reguetón y Skapulario en ska.

I was at the gym yesterday (see my earlier post about not blaming my arse), and this Beyonce/Sean Paul clip was on:

Not being a fan of top 40 music, I hadn’t seen it before. And I was surprised at how sexual it is. Not sexual in a good way, but sexual in a writhing-woman-possibly-tied-up-possibly-having-an-orgasm-for-your-visual-pleasure way. Sexual, but not sexy.

Which got me thinking: why is this Beyonce clip is too much, whereas Duran Duran’s Girls on Film is fine? (Sorry, can’t find one with the embed code.)

It’s not just that the Duran Duran one is quaint/retro. It’s even more explicit – check out the woman sliding along a cream-covered pole, followed by nipples, and kissing, and pouring champagne on each other’s breasts. Then the wrestler’s breasts, the nude woman with the hairdryer, the ice cube on the nipple, and more boobs for the mudwrestling. (Although, the woman cleaning her male horse’s g-string-clad arse makes it not all about women’s bodies.) Granted, this is the long uncensored version which wasn’t played on the tv all time, but you can still see it in pubs. At my local in fact, along with Warrant’s Cherry Pie.

So, why is the ruder one ok and the other one not? They both have a narrow definition about what a “hot chick” is. Perhaps I’ve simply justified it in my head because one is the kind of music I’d listen to, while the other is most definitely not.

Perhaps, but I think it’s about who is writhing. It used to be that the only women writhing in video clips were the ones paid to be there in the background. Now, if you’re a female singer, you have to do it. It’s odd that popular culture is highly sexualised, but not sexy. I know this was a big issue a few years ago, but I’m still surprised that we haven’t progressed. If I had this blog three years ago, this is what I’d be writing about. So, is there any way of fixing things? Of putting a few centimetres of clothes back on, once we’ve flashed everything?
