Outside SL it is tipping down with rain, so it was nice to able to do some gardening in the dry … and I’m really enjoying the spring plants in SL. In the first picture you can see me and my Kittycat, Stone, next to a new release from Trompe Loeil, the Golden Lion’s Head Fountain. It comes in a free-standing version as well, and I like the vintage feel to it. I’m standing behind Thaino‘s garden cart with flowers. Thaino is a new-to-me shop which I visited because of a special Tuesday deal (a nice garden shelf with plants and things, the deal is actually on til Sunday). Balanced on the fountain is a potted muscari from Frog’s Garden, and the creeping plant on the wall is also from ::FG::, the green curtain /goya and so are the bluebells. You can see the bluebells better in the second picture, below. They really do look like a real life carpet of bluebells (this is a picture of a bluebell wood in Sussex that I took last year)

In this picture, as well as the bluebells, you also get a glimpse of a new plant from Frog’s garden, Vinca major. That’s the plant with violet flowers, bottom left. Outside SL I find this plant a bit depressing, as it is popular with corporate landscapers who grub up more interesting plants (that they can’t be bothered to take care of), and put in a lot of vinca major, which is hardy and covers ground very quickly. However, here it looks pretty. There are two plants from Kiku Little’s shop, Little Garden. That’s the Bird’s-eye(Ohinunofuguri) (blue plant in the foreground) and the Narcissus’Thalia’ (Thalia is probably my favourite daffodil in RL). The trees are the Forest Floor cherries I have been featuring in several blog posts, and the bridge and stones are part of the pack.

Trompe Loeil has brought out Curve and Loop patio sets for this month’s Stumblebum shopping event. I was dropped the complete sets and here is a small selection under the cherry blossom trees. The lantern is also part of the set; the thermos is by LISP and the sakura parfait by Poche. Hanami at Sway's

At the moment the Sway’s sim is a great place for cherry blossom viewing. Around the Nonino and Zacca shops there are beautiful views, with plenty of places to sit and admire the falling pink blossom. There are also some special items out for the event. I’m showing some of them in a modded version of Nonino’s summer House (at the moment I can’t fit the whole thing, so I trimmed half of it away) which I surrounded with Forest Floor cherry trees.
Sway’s has produced a beautiful “Hanami” (cherry blossom viewing) set of a chaise and screen. You can see the detail of the chaise in the picture on the left. The chaise has numerous poses, couples and single. The tall wooden side table, with a scattering of blossom by it, is a freebie from Nonino, and the Nonino Sakura lantern comes as a set of a rezzable lantern and a wearable lantern. The Nonino Hanami Tea Set consists of two cups of tea, and two sweet dishes (each with a scattering of cherry blossom leaves) to rez, plus a wearable version on a tray. The picture below shows the lantern and one of the tea cups again, plus the Nonino Zaisu (floor chair) which has one pose in the armrest and two poses in the chair. Other items on sale at the Hanami event include a large red Japanese parasol and a Hanami floor blanket with poses.

Tiny Place (2)

This is the other side of the interior in the Tiny Place house from L&K Prefabs (I showed the first part of the house in this post). Y’s House have a great group gift out til April 15th, which is this sofa, but in a dark denim blue colour. It has loads of poses and wicker baskets under the seat. This lime green version is half price in the Creators Pavilion sale, also until April 15th. The other items I picked up at the sale are the fluorescent tube and, as a freebie, this record shelf from Ponitee (I also bought a couple of Ponitee’s sale items).

Tiny Place

L&K prefabs have just brought out Tiny Place house (it was 55 Linden at the weekend – in fact it was still 55 Linden when I bought it earlier today.) I’ll take a couple of posts to blog it. In the picture above you see it: the cherry trees, cherry blossom ground cover and mossy rocks are from Forest Floor (and are season change). The grassy cover and white rocks are from Heart, and the butterflies from FIN.
On the porch there is the current worn chair on sale at Atelier Kreslo, the Baignoire table by Cheeky Pea (at the current collabor8) with some candles in bottles by LISP (part of an autumn set), spring planters by What Next, and some further plants by Ibizarre on the steps.

Here you see me washing up (using poses built into a wearable sponge and plate, which I got with a kitchen unit from Bitter Vanilla). There is a sale on at the Creators Pavilion until 15 April, and this sink (part of a kitchen set, 89 Linden in the sale) is from CoCo. The picture (Check Shirt) is by Lindini2 and is free in Atelier Kreslo, which is where I also bought the cup of coffee. This pictures gives you a better view of one of the What Next spring planters. Piddler's Perch - New Blog, New Flicker, New Designs

Update to the store’s blog has been slow coming. In part the reason is because I was trying to keep up with many different things in to many different places. Piddler’s Perch store info can now be found right here in Gemini Commons. The passions of my second life together in one blog to give my own rl life a little less stress. No more multiple blogs, or even flickr accounts for that matter. Life is good, keep it simple :)

I’m tickled that she has taken on this new endeavor as the number of Home and Garden groups for designers to reach consumers has dwindled a bit. Members of the HOMEstuff group can pick up fabulous gifts from various home and garden designers. Piddler’s Perch has an exlusive there in The Stuff Lounge too! YaY!!!! Join the group, get gifts, sale updates and what not.

The Nest

BoatHouse has opened up a small shop at The Nest region. New items have been added for the grand opening. These items are available only at this location for an unlimited time.

This is a quiet nook in the Sense of Gravity House that Vespertine had out for the Epoch event. It is showcasing two items from Patron: a Ming chair and blue china Raffles bowl. The carpet is the gift from Melino Style that you can find at Seraphim HQ, and the Mug of daffodils on the floor is a recent release from Hanaya.
Outside are alder trees from Forest Floor. They change seasons on click and the fat pack comes with ground cover and different modifiable tree shapes.

Sakura time

I’m afraid that some of the cute objects in this shot aren’t available any more, namely the items from +N3F+, but I only realised that once I’d worked on the pictures. However, you can still get the LISP butterfly chair at bargain price, and the things I really wanted to feature were the yummy seasonal foods from Poche. The little vase of cherry blossom, the chopsticks and everything on the tray are all in “The sweets of a cherry tree”. The pink box is what the items come in and is delightful just by itself.
I got the Poche food from the Couleur de Tout (CDT) 1 year anniversary event which is located here. The sakura parfait (in a tall glass) and the single sakura sweet on a little dish are freebies. That event is also, incidentally, where I got my MiuMin kimono and the siamese kitten that is sitting on my head (from +NK+’s kitten gatcha). nocc are selling their cherry tree and blossom ground cover at CDT too, and there are a couple of other home items.

The Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference has just finished. One feature was the exhibition area, and one of the best exhibits was the Afghan Museum: a house which was both informative and nice to visit. Even better, you get some great freebies (teleport here), including the toshaks (low chairs) that I had seen in Trill Zapatero’s shop and coveted, but hadn’t seen on sale. The VWBPE exhibition area is open til April, so you have time to get the gift. What I’m wearing is mostly from Trill’s shop (Meena) too .
I thought I’d match these with some items, some of them also free, from another of my favourite shops, Melino Style. She is having regular 60 Linden items at the weekends and this week it is a trio of the cabinet, mirror and silver dish of limes.
Finally, the mesh flowers were dropped on me as a bloggers gift. You can buy them at the current collabor8 and you get a huge pack of them for just 88 Linden, in all sort of colours and shapes.

Where I grew up the snow is gone and spring hasn’t sprung but it is Mud Season, and no better time to stay indoors and catch up on the laundry. This is the latest group gift from BoatHouse (check notices; join fee).

The metal shelves, washer, drier, folding rack, and laundry table are all animated!

Total 65 prims but this is so versatile for space and prims.

Ratio Fractus: Sheep and Blossom

One of the amazing items on sale at the EPOCH event is the Ratio Fractus build from Nordari, which is in the Art of Escher section.
In the end I’m not sure I did the build justice – I think it needed less stuff round it, so you could see the angles better. However, this gives you a glimpse of what you might do. It is modifiable, so you could make it smaller or larger. It comes with a couple of hanging lightbulbs, and the little ponds with boats.
I had wanted to buy the Zinnias cherry blossom bed ever since I saw it, so that is featured at the top of the build. You can lie back and just see the cherry blossom branches and the sky. The bed comes with a cherry blossom wall decal, which I used several times, and a little scatter of blossoms for the floor. A freebie in Zinnias is the little pot of zinnias, which you see above on a butterfly table by Concrete Flowers.
The sheep are from Alchemy Immortalis (that’s the shaggy black-facedh sheep in various poses) and Picnic (that’s the smooth haired sheep with a pear on its head). The Picnic sheep was also at the EPOCH event, in the Clowning section.

For the cherry blossom, I mainly used trees from Heart. When I started in SL, Heart was about the only place that did decent plants and trees. Their products have continued to develop, and I used a magnificent new, large, low prim cherry tree on one side of the build, and various smaller trees around about. I also used a small cherry tree from Serenity & Chaos inside the build. On the ground there are some cherry blossom scatters from nocc and lush ground cover from Heart. Linden Home Challenge - BEACH!!

This is a Spruce Up Your Space weekend. I was just off to buy the Stone Hot Tub from Trompe L’oeil whenI got dropped a bloggers review copy. Since I was going to buy it anyway (100 Linden for SUYS), I am happy to review it
It is Mesh, so some visitors may obviously not see it in its full glory. I have a mountainous bit on my land, where I had a Japanese hot spring. I replaced that with this hot tub, and it seemed an ideal position, but you could also have it rising out of the sea, or landlocked. There are lost of candles, so it looks particularly good at night. I already had a waterfull going into the hot spring and out again, so that is what you can see in one corner of the Hot Tub. There are singles poses and a couples pose. The little wooden bowl doesn’t come with it (I think it might have been part of the hot springs).
