As I promised earlier this fall, I would not buy any new clothes for half a year. I’ve kept that promise, and the only thing I’ve bought are things I’ve really needed (stockings, winter shoes, socks). It’s been some strange months, and in order to avoid all the temptations, I’ve tried to avoid the usual suspects (H & M, Zara, Compton de Cottoniare and some small second hand shops here in Brussels). And incredible enough, it is working, in the sense that I don’t feel a strong urge to get new stuff, window shopping or magazine browsing is not all that bad (I know you don’t belive me).

But one day last week, as I looked at the things I had put together in bright daylight, it was totally grey. Not soft, sweet grey, but charcoal grey – losing color grey.

Well, the next day I put on some pink to balance the charcoal from the day before.

Good thing I’m arranging an exchange/swap party for my girlfriends here in Brussel some weeks from now. The idea is to swap clothes, scarfs, shoes, sun glasses, etc. you are tired of with your friends. We give the leftovers to Oxfam. My first exchange party started a discussion. This time, I’ve asked two Belgian redesigners Cloe Billiet (who is opening up Second Style in Brussels soon) and Saskia Videler to come and talk to us about redesigning old clothes. Thanks to Girl Geek Cloe Willaerts, who started Brussels Girl Geek Dinners, and was so kind to send a tweet to her community about my request, I was able to find the redesigners.

Hm, since I started my antishopping campaign, I have noticed that the world economy has taken a sharp dip. Don’t look at me!

Trátase dunha revista de moda, estilo de vida e tendencias dentro do Second Life (ao máis puro estilo Squire ou Cosmopolitan). Esta revista editada só en versión on-line (PDF) xa vai pola súa 18º tirada, o que confirma o establecemento dun tecido en torno a este mundo virtual que indica que non é unha cousa pasaxeira, que vai en serio (os números de estadísticas proporcionados por Linden Labs ás veces non nos din moito…).

Na miña humilde opinión, a todo isto só lle fai falla un pequeno pulo (¿¿¿quizais no que respecta a Interfaces de Usuario???) para que emerxa toda unha vida en torno a este mundo virtual ó que, de momento, non lle fai xustiza o seu nome.

Extreme quickie today since I’m buried in French notes and shit. Tomorrow’s French is probably the final exam I look least forward to.

A few days ago I already covered a freebie by Free Speerit, that time it was a group gift. This time I’ll focus on a dress from their store. It’s available in both a greenish color and in white. It also includes full perm textures. Have fun experimenting.

I found a cute dress yesterday, and was I glad. I Had been waiting for the perfect opportunity to try on the belts from Pixeldolls, but until this dress I didn’t find any good match for them.

The dress comes from a new store, run by some people from the SL Free*Style group. This dress is for sale there in 6 colors I believe, with one of them free. The store is called Soulfire.

The belt as I said, comes from Pixeldolls. It’s a group gift through their subscribe-o-matic. In total there’s about half a dozen of belts you get for free. All of them are located on the jacket layer.

Today I combined some random freebies into one outfit. Aphrodite’s been extremely busy with her store (and with good reason, check her blog and store out, it’s fucking awesome stuff). So I’m left to myself for advice on what looks good on a woman. Surprising actually that I haven’t been posting a lot more lingerie than I have, considering those circumstances.

The shirt and the hair are both freebies from Bare Rose HQ. If you don’t know Bare Rose yet, now’s your chance. It’s one of the biggest Japanese fashion stores in SL I think. They offer tons and tons of clothes for very affordable prices, I have several of their stuff on Daman, and if I ever buy gift for my lady friends it’s Bare Rose 9 times out of 10. Now, back to the freebies. If you spawn, turn to the right, and walk to the big pile of boxes just before reaching the men’s department. The entire pile is freebies and dollarbies.

The necklace and skirt are gifts from Nekogear. Another awesome designer that shouldn’t miss in your inventory. The skirt comes in three sizes, which means even if you’re a petite woman you don’t have to resize every prim to make it fit.

Today I didn’t really find any new freebies that I liked that much. So I decided I’d blog the outfit I camped yesterday at Deka. At 50 minutes it’s reasonably timed. I know of most fashionistas that if they clean out their inventory they’re easily occupied a multiple of that time.

As said in the header, the outfit comes from Deka. Since I got it through item camping it’s not a regular freebie though. Still, the item camper lets you pick the item you want by scrolling, and at only 50 minutes it’s very reasonably timed.

I’m wearing the Cf skin from Another Shop again, but this time I’ve coupled it with a new shape I just threw together. It’s not the best shape out there, since I only spent 5 minutes working on it, I know. The face is based on a list of settings that were linked from Eloh’s blog and said to be great on the Cf skin. I tend to agree with that post now. The body shape I mingled together myself. You can get the full perm shape (I think it’s full perm anyway, let me know if something’s bugged about it), by joining the Detachable Penis group in SL and going into the notices.

The hair is the mahogany version of one of RaC’s freebie styles. I know, fourth time now I wear one of those, but I’ve absolutely fallen in love with them. So until I get more hair, I’ll probably keep wearing versions of RaC’s hair. ^_^

Noticed that Deka had a new freebie outfit at their store, so I decided to pop on over. They have quite a lot of free stuff, so the store is definitely a recommendation.

The dress is called Tatiana. You can find it hanging on the wall left of the entrance inside the Deka store. In between a few other freebies. The store also has 2 different of Lucky chairs, an item camper, and any newbie with less than 2 weeks in SL can choose an outfit they want and notecard the owner to receive it for free. I decided to use the item camper also while I cleaned up my inventory.

I will probably be using this kind of item campers a lot the coming weeks since I have my finals coming up. 3 more weeks and I’ll have finished college. This means though that I have to spend a lot of time studying these weeks, which works perfect for camping items.

My hair is done today in the Natalie’s Choice Black style from RaC. You can find it hanging on the same freebie wall I posted about a few times already. It’s not a new freebie, so if you went there before, I assume you already have it.

The skin is the honey tone of yesterday’s skin, the Vedette from Chai Skins. You can receive it by grabbing the latest issue of Second Style from any Second Style vendor, or at the SS HQ in Le Zoo.

I decided to put on some of the House of Zen freebie eyes again this time, since I don’t like the bright blue of the past days with a darker skin and hair. The eyecolor I have on now is called Brown Grey.

Today I fixed a lingerie outfit. Ok, I figure I can’t walk around all the grid in this, but I still thought it looked nice. Hurry up since the lingerie itself will only be available for a very short time.

The lingerie itself comes from Liberte. I saw it mentioned on Fabulously Free blog, so decided to go and grab it. Also available are two short dresses, one free and one 1L$. It includes the panties, bra and stockings.

The skins are another gift from Second Style. Seems they’re in a gift-giving mood lately. The skins are designed by Chai Skins. To get them, you just have to get your free Second Style Magazine anywhere in the grid. It comes in a bag that has the magazine, and these skins. If you don’t know any Second Style vendors, just go to their HQ, and click the vendor near the entrance.

I’m wearing the free ZHAO shoes that were given out at Second Style again.  This time bringing them up in the main post, since I didn’t show them in the pictures last time. And yes, I know the right pose on the pic is tacky, but I needed to get the shoes included. You can find the gift package inside the Second Style HQ, against the wall.

The hair is the latest group gift from Truth. If you’re already in their Subscribe-O-Matic, you’ll get 2 styles in brunette color. One is this female style. The other is a style for men. I don’t know if you can get them if you weren’t a member before, but since it’s a SOM, you don’t lose anything by joining. So if you join now and don’t get the hair, you can still stay until the next gift comes.

Went for a formal gown again today. The location is not new, so chances are you’ll already have it, but I decided to combine it anyway with some other stuff.

The gown I’m wearing is a Rebel Hope freebie. I found it at Fashion Avenue though, right, the store I got the jacket and pants from a few days ago. It’s a very nicely detailed gown, and, I like the way some lace peaks out on top.

The skin is a modification of one of Another Shop’s skins. This mod was done by Ashia Designs, and is being distributed as a group gift in the Fabolously Free group. Just search for fabfree, it’s the top 1 group you’ll find. Then look in the notice archives to grab this one. It just was sent out today (or yesterday, since I wasn’t online then), so it’ll be available for about 4 more weeks. In these pictures I’m wearing the skin on my own shape.

Eyes, hair and shoes all come from a gift package available at the Second Style HQ in Le Zoo. The shoes aren’t visible in the shots, I know, but it wouldn’t matter if I zoomed out, the gown skirt covers them completely anyway. I can guarantee that they look great though.

The eyes are designed by The Body Politik. I decided not to wear the shape that comes with them since the face reminds me too much of my ex. The hair comes from Calla, it’s the ImSoPreddy set, version 3. The shoes come from ZHAO. They’re called SADIE, and it’s a glossy pair of stilettos.

Evolutions Museum Grand Opening

This museum shows some of SL’s top designers very first creations in SL.  It is actually quite interesting.  The project was hosted by Frolic Mills and Miko Omegamu.  The museum was designed by Scope Cleaver.  The sim was packed for the opening, with several well-known faces there.  Some of the designs are actually very well done for first tries!  Check out some of the party goers and designs below…but you definately need to visit the museum yourself.  Each display platform has the name of the designer in the corner, which you can click for details on the exhibit.  See for yourself at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Arcana/216/98/23/ .

LeeZu Baxter Designs Presented by MAD Agency

I am absolutely in love with LeeZu’s designs (centro italia 208, 165, 22).  I already owned one of her ensemble’s and had to go buy another one after the show.  I plan to own them all!  You can mix and match the outfits to creat your own unique look.  The stage built for the show was stunning as well!  Check out some of the not-very-rezzed shots I got:
