Die Berliner Mauer war Teil des so genannten Eisernen Vorhangs.

Als der Zweite Weltkrieg beendet wurde, kamen die ehemalig gegnerischen Länder, die sogenannten Alliierten, in Deutschland an die Macht. Die Alliierten waren die Vereinigten Staaten (USA), Großbritannien, Frankreich und die Sowjetunion (UdSSR), ein Bündnis aus Russland und 14 weiteren Staaten. Man teilte Deutschland und speziell Berlin in Sektoren; jeder Sektor wurde von einer Alliierten-Macht verwaltet.

Sie wollten Deutschland als Land umstrukturieren und den friedlichen Aufbau vorantreiben, doch dabei gingen die Meinungen zwischen der UdSSR und den anderen drei Alliierten-Staaten so weit auseinander, dass sie zwei unterschiedliche deutsche Republiken gründeten: Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland (BRD; Staat der anderen drei Alliierten-Ländern) Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR; Staat des UdSSR)

Da die DDR sozialistisch aufgebaut war, d.h. alle bekommen den gleichen Lohn für egal welche Arbeit, hatte sie ein niedriges Standard, weswegen viele DDR-Bürger in die BRD flüchteten.

Um diese Bewegung anzuhalten, baute am 13. August 1961 eine vorher vom DDR-Staatsratsvorsitzenden Ulbricht bestrittene Mauer, die den Westen vom Osten abtrennte.

Jeder der trotzdem in die BRD wollte, wurde von DDR-Grenzpolizisten erschossen. So verendeten 238 Menschen.

Als man ein neues DDR-Reisegesetz am 09.11.1989 der Öffentlichkeit vorstellen wollte (18:53 h), machte SED-Chef Schabowski einen Fehler und sagte, dass man absofort mit einfach zu erhaltenden Visa in die BRD und andere Länder reisen konnte.

Da sehr viele in den Westen zogen, ergab sich die DDR und wurde Teil der heutigen BRD.

Tempelhof Airport, Tegel Airport, MediaSpree, Gazometer, Marx-Engels Forum, Gleisdreieck…many plots of land are in the middle of something in Berlin. The Local investigates some of the “deals” and reasons opposing citizens and business (with the city’s government somewhere in between).

Berlin stokes foreign investor land rush

Berlin is a roomy place but investors from Britain and the US have come to see the German capital as fertile ground for a cheap property deal. Ben Knight finds out how much of the city’s  is left for Exberliner magazine.

Tarhilo Sarrazin does not need any help making himself unpopular in Berlin. The city-state’s former finance minister caused a media stink last month by calling Berliners un-intellectual and lazy, and blaming the city’s history of government subsidisation on a collectively careless mentality. But perhaps his entertainingly bigoted remarks are not his worst disservice to Berlin. His time in power was characterised by a zeal for balancing the city’s books, and in pursuit of this he left few sources of revenue unexplored.

Selling land as public policy

For Sarrazin, the city’s real estate was an obvious asset to exploit, and plenty of Berlin politicians noticed his reckless policy. Klaus-Dieter Gröhler, local councillor for Charlottenburg and Wilmersdorf, says, “Berlin should not just market plots of land to stop gaps in the budget. That is not sustainable.” Ephraim Gothe, councillor for town development in Mitte, agrees, “Sarrazin usually forced through unconditional sales.” This policy left the city with little control over its own development.

Councillors for individual districts like Gröhler and Gothe are not idealists who champion the freedom of public property. They just found themselves protecting their district interests against Sarrazin’s finance department, eager to sell off land for any supermarket chain that will have it. “I don’t have anything against privatising land in principle, but the state should keep back some of the money – maybe 20 or 25 percent – to buy other land that it might need,” says Gröhler.

But Sarrazin is of course no longer in office, and Gröhler is still cautious about his successor, Ulrich Nussbaum. “He hasn’t been in office long enough; we’ll just have to wait and see,” he says.

The Marx Engels Forum

That Sarrazin’s influence has finally ended can be seen in the case of the Marx-Engels-Forum, the open park to the west of the TV Tower, where a bronze Karl Marx sits with Friedrich Engels at his shoulder, amid reliefs depicting happy life in socialist society. The small park was opened in the mid-eighties, and the ruling party of communist East Germany, the SED, was closely involved in its design. Earlier this year, it was reported that the city wanted to sell this prime piece of central Berlin. According to the papers, Sarrazin thought the sale of the park would be “particularly lucrative” for the city. Like the Palast der Republik, the famous building on the other side of the river that once housed the East German parliament, the Marx-Engels-Forum is emotionally associated with Berlin’s East German past, and like the Palast (whose demolition was completed earlier this year), it appeared doomed.

But the plan to sell the property has now officially been abandoned, for different reasons. Regula Lüscher, construction director of the city Department for Urban Development, maintains that the change of plans was the result of a change of course that marked her appointment. Lüscher decided not to execute plans of her predecessor, the publicly decorated Hans Stimmann, Berlin’s construction director from 1991-1996 and 1999–2006, who is infamous for the Prussian style he imposed on the city (and the Alexa shopping centre!). Stimmann wanted to build a small medieval village on the site, also with a free space – a kind of re-creation of the historical birth of the city of Berlin, which was founded in the area. “I’ve nothing against re-designing it, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to reconstruct medieval structures there. The area will be re-designed from 2012 onwards, but it will remain an open space for the public,” Lüscher says.

Straightforward as this sounds, financial drawbacks probably also played a part in the decision not to develop the Marx-Engels-Forum. It turned out that the land, which was an inner city residential quarter before the war, originally belonged to more than 50 other parties, including Jewish families whose property was confiscated by the Nazi regime. If the land had been sold and turned into a building site, those parties would have had compensation rights, and the project would have cost more than the city could make from it. “This probably had something to do with the fact that the city decided not to sell,” confirmed a spokeswoman for the Liegenschaftsfonds Berlin, the private marketing agency that the city uses to sell its property.

A historical template

But although Berlin has lost its chance to have a fake medieval village, Lüscher does intend to re-develop the entire city centre according to a historical template. The tip of this archaeological iceberg will be the Stadtschloss, a reconstruction of Berlin’s central imperial castle, the residence of Prussian kings and German kaisers, on the site of the Palast der Republik. The guiding principle of Lüscher’s vision for the historical city centre, stretching out south and east from the Stadtschloss to the river, is the idea that history should not be reconstructed, but ‘uncovered’. Archaeological remains are to be dug up and displayed in between modern apartment blocks. “It is meant to be the renaissance of the city centre. It is meant to bring the population of Berlin back into the centre … And at the same time we want to remind people that this was the birthplace of the city.”

All this means extensive privatisation, of course, as well as infrastructural re-development – widening or narrowing roads, and extending public transport services (a tram line is even intended for the area). The Urban Development department organises architect competitions to see what form the development will take. One recently concluded competition is the Luisenblock Ost, where a new office block is being planned near Friedrichstraße.

Berlin’s fiscal constraints mean that the project must be ‘cost-neutral’ – in other words, the state parliament has ordered that the sale of properties in the area has to fund the infrastructural upgrades.

Privatisation of the Spree bank

Extensive privatisation by way of large-scale projects has drawn passionate opposition from the population. The most high-profile of these schemes is the Mediaspree investment project, the colonisation of nearly four kilometres on both sides of the Spree in the east of the city by a horde of media corporations.

Part of the plan has already been realised with the O2-World Arena, which at the moment is still standing in the middle of sprawling wasteland, but will be nestled in a forest of new buildings within the next five years. Two 200-plus-room hotels will be built in the area to host the extra visitors that the immense venues will bring. One, the seven-floor Hotel Spreeport, will take up the area now occupied by the Maria am Ostbahnhof nightclub. The fashion centre Labels II Berlin is a collection of fashion showrooms about to open between the offices of Universal and MTV. Puma, Camel Lifestyle und s.Oliver are among the labels that have rented space in the centre. Despite the global financial crisis, space has also been rented in many of the unfinished office buildings. The entire project is meant to create 30,000 jobs, at least according to urban development minister Ingeborg Junge-Reyer, and as much as €3 billion are being invested. The parts of Mediaspree that have already been built – the offices of Universal, MTV, the Verdi trade union and the O2-World – are estimated to have already created some 15,000 jobs.

Citizens against corporations

A movement calling itself Mediaspree Versenken (‘Sink the Mediaspree’) succeeded in forcing a district referendum last year, the results of which showed that locals were against the plans. But the city, represented by Junge-Reyer, did its best to ignore these results, and went ahead with guaranteeing investors planning permission. The authorities claimed that to sink the project would cost the city €165 million in damages, a figure disputed by Mediaspree Versenken. The referendum only managed to force some alterations to the plans, mainly in order to create public access to the river and adequate open space, which has now been ensured. One building at the Elsen Bridge is still in debate, as is the height and density of certain projected buildings at the Schilling Bridge, but the rest is now apparently beyond revision. Manfred Kühne, project manager at the Department for Urban Development, gave the Tagesspiegel a telling quote earlier this year: “The discussion around the citizens’ initiative has awoken the false impression that projects could be endangered.”

For Mediaspree Versenken, the construction of a row of media buildings along the river would waste the chance to create a social and recreational area, and would be another nail in the coffin of the improvisational element of Berlin culture – represented by Bar 25, the bar, nightclub and performance venue that grew out of a makeshift beach bar on the river bank. Despite its commercial success, Bar 25 has been forced to close to make way for new plans: Berlin’s waste disposal service BSR owns the and would like to sell it for around €31 million. So far, no buyer has been found. For Lüscher, establishments like Bar 25 should be recognised as only a transitory stage in the capital investment of an area.

“These temporary utilisations of space are of course wonderful, but they are also a kind of privatisation. One should be aware of that. I think it’s great that you have these beach bars, and they do enliven the area. They are pioneers of space, if you like – they find spaces in the city and use them – and that is a very important stage in the development of the city, but I think that in the future authorities should take more care to manage these temporary utilisations.” In other words, improvised businesses like Bar 25 should in the future be regulated by a state-appointed land management company, which draws up contracts that say how long a bar or a nightclub will be allowed to last.

These ‘temporary utilisations’ have been the flashpoints of the struggle between the privatisation of Berlin’s real estate and the free, improvisational culture that many believe attracts people to Berlin. For Lüscher, who does not recognise any fundamental difference between these two forms of privatisation, but does accept the importance of encouraging independent businesses to get a chance to develop an area, the best compromise would be the implementation of a system to manage plots of public land after they are sold. The new land management system would take care of drawing up temporary contracts with the businesses of a designed area. This, apparently, is the plan for Berlin’s next great private development project -the Tempelhof airfield.

Yesterday, I decided to find an IRC channel which discusses Ubuntu.

I looked in the synaptic manager and found an install called Kubuntu

It was a simple, quick install, and gave me a wonderful GUI IRC control panel, and automatically directed me to a forum discussing Ubuntu with 300 members present in the channel from around the world.

I made friends with a fellow in Brazil who was trying to get his ethernet card to work.

Konversation has an option to continuously LOG all conversation to disk.

I leave Konversation on all day long and collect the log. But the log is filled with extraneous lines about people Joining the channel, Parting the channel, changing their Nick, etc.

I wanted to find a way, using Linux commands, to filter out everything extraneous and leave only what people actually posted, so that I may more easily study it and learn some new thing.

I looked through my Linux Pocket Guide from O’Reilly. I also googed a bit, and decided to use the SED command.

I think the important thing to remember for any beginner is that there is more than one way to skin a cat. A very experienced programmer would know how to perform this task in one line, and that one line would probably look like an equation from quantum physics, and be difficult to understand. BUT you can also accomplish your desired task using many simple steps; many simple commands each of which is easy to understand and visualize.

The following code will work and do what I want when I paste it into the TERMINAL.

Next, line 2 omits every line which has the string /Join/ and outputs the results to output2.

Line 3, omits every line which has the string /Mode/ and outputs the results to output1.

Line 4, omits every line which has the string /Quit/ and outputs the results to output1.

Line 5, omits every line which has the string /Part/ and outputs the results to output2.

Line 6, omits every line which has the string /Nick/ and outputs the results to output1.

Line 7 was the most difficult command to find in GOOGLE.
Line 7 DELETED all information occuring between left bracket [ and right bracket ] which in essence deletes all the time and date stamps.

Genau dort nahmen Zivilfahnder der Kriminalpolizei noch in der Nacht einen mutmaßlichen Täter fest: Politikersohn Tobias P. (23).

Sein Vater sitzt für „Die Linke“ als Abgeordneter in der Bezirksverordnetenversammlung (BVV) im Bezirk Lichtenberg, die Mutter ist Sozialarbeiterin im Bezirksamt. Tobias P., Abi-Abbrecher, wohnt in einem von zwei besetzten Häusern in der Liebigstraße.

Bei seiner Festnahme hatte er Reizgas und eine Flasche Feuerzeugbenzin dabei.

“Luna Nueva” comienza con el desarrollo de la historia de amor entre un vampiro (Edward) y una humana (Bella). Pero Edward  siente que cada vez que está con Bella el riesgo para ella es mayor.  Abandonada, Bella acudirá al consuelo de su mejor amigo, el licántropo Jacob. Pero muchos peligros rodearán la vida de la joven por lo que Edward no podrá quedarse al margen como tenía previsto. Tras el gran éxito de “Crepúsculo“, el director Chris Weitz  afirma que no ha sentido ningún tipo de presión por el anterior éxito alcanzado y ha dejado claro que lo más importante era “ceñirse al libro”.

Las últimas secuencias de la película están grabadas en Italia, donde el equipo disfrutó mucho del clima, muy diferente a Vancouver, el escenario del resto del filme. Kristen (video 5:46) añadió, además, que en Italia terminó muy cansada ya que no dejó de correr de un lado para otro. Su compañero de reparto, Taylor Launer, donde esta vez su papel tiene mayor protagonismo que Pattinson (video 2:08), asegura que ha tenido que prepararse mucho para esta nueva entrega pero que “ha merecido la pena”. En cambio para el atractivo vampiro, lo más difícil ha sido ” mantener el miedo de mi personaje”.

Dopo le dimissioni di Honecker – avvenute il 18 ottobre 1989 sull’onda delle grandi manifestazioni di Lipsia e Dresda – e quelle del suo delfino Egon Krenz, consegnate l’8 dicembre dello stesso anno – fu Modrow a guidare la transizione del vecchio partito unico in un nuovo soggetto politico, la Pds. E che ha dato vita, insieme alla Wags dell’ex socialdemocratico Oscar Lafontaine, a Die Linke, il nuovo partito della sinistra radicale tedesca. Modrow non è semplicemente una figura chiave nella storia recente della Germania ma anche un uomo presente. Rappresenta quel filo rosso che dalle due Germanie del dopoguerra arriva fino a oggi. È presidente onorario della Linke, che alle ultime elezioni per il Bundestag ha raccolto il 12 per cento dei voti, confermandosi il terzo partito tedesco. Il 28 gennaio del 2010 Modrow compirà 82 anni. Ma sui difficili e contrastati giorni della caduta del muro ha ancora molto da dire. Come sulla Germania di oggi.

Il mio nome fu fatto proprio nel 1986, quando il diplomatico sovietico Koptelzew, in risposta alla domanda di un giornalista dello Spiegel, disse che Gorbacev pensava a me come successore di Erich Honecker.

Nella notte dell’8 dicembre 1989 si svolge il congresso straordinario della Sed, il partito unico della Ddr. Lei presiedeva l’assemblea, che decise di non sciogliere il partito ma di trasformarlo. Fu una scelta giusta?
In tutti i Paesi del socialismo reale ci si chiedeva, nell’89, quale sarebbe stato il futuro dei partiti di regime. Anche per la Sed, era questa la questione cruciale. Il 3 dicembre 1989 la direzione si dimise e fu organizzato un gruppo di lavoro incaricato di preparare il congresso del partito. Durante il congresso fu avanzata la proposta di fondare un nuovo partito di sinistra. In un’atmosfera molto tesa si decise di darsi una pausa di riflessione. A me, in quel frangente, toccò il compito di pensare a una via per mantenere in vita il partito ma sulla base di un sostanziale rinnovamento: da qui nacque la Pds, (il Partito del socialismo democratico, ndr). La mia argomentazione principale era la seguente: se il partito più forte del Parlamento, che esprime anche il presidente del Consiglio dei ministri, si fosse sciolto, allora nella Germania Est non sarebbe esistito nessun tipo di governo. Per il Paese sarebbe stata una catastrofe. Poiché l’Spd negava ogni collaborazione ai membri della Sed, si formò velocemente all’interno della Pds un pluralismo molto costruttivo. Fu così che le tre culture politiche della sinistra (comunisti, socialdemocratici e i socialisti di sinistra) ebbero un ruolo importante nel nuovo soggetto.
Come dimostra la storia della Pds, e in tempi più recenti l’azione della Linke, quella fu la scelta giusta.

Lei ha vissuto in prima persona la fine della Ddr. Come fu possibile mettere in moto un processo pacifico senza conflitti tra gli schieramenti militari che si fronteggiavano lungo il confine delle due Germanie?
Ciò che oggi, visto con un’ottica di distanza storica, appare semplice, fu in realtà un processo assai complesso.
Oggi si dice che l’apertura dei confini tra Ddr e Repubblica Federale segnarono la fine della Guerra fredda, e che la caduta del muro ne fu il momento simbolico.
Non sono d’accordo: non si può leggere il passato con le lenti di oggi. Il 2 e il 3 dicembre del 1989 Gorbacev e Bush si incontrarono a Malta. Gorbacev analizzò l’incontro il 4 dicembre a Mosca, nell’organo politico del Patto di Varsavia; lo stesso giorno Bush a Bruxelles riunì i leader della Nato. In quell’occasione non si parlò assolutamente né di una nuova strategia militare né dello scioglimento dei blocchi militari, perché la deterrenza nucleare era e rimaneva un elemento costitutivo delle loro strategie. E la Germania era un punto geografico centrale per le truppe dei due blocchi.
Nella Ddr sia il governo che l’opposizione – come dimostrarono l’8 e 9 ottobre le manifestazioni pacifiche di Dresda e Lipsia – non volevano alcuna violenza. Non per merito di Gorbacev ma del comandante militare del Patto di Varsavia, il generale Lushev. I comandi militari sia a Mosca che a Berlino espressero le loro preoccupazioni e le loro aspettative ma Gorbacev li aveva già lasciati soli. Parlava tanto, teneva molti discorsi ma per ciò che riguarda l’azione Gorbacev dimostrava tutta la sua incapacità.
Se ci fosse stata solo una minima esplosione di violenza all’interno della Ddr era chiaro sia al governo che all’opposizione che le truppe dell’Unione Sovietica sarebbero intervenute. Allora si sarebbe potuto sviluppare un conflitto tra i due blocchi militari sul suolo tedesco. Se guardiamo come sono andate le cose, dobbiamo essere riconoscenti a tutti coloro che hanno partecipato agli eventi di quell’anno.

Molte forze politiche parlano non di una riunificazione ma di una annessione della Ddr da parte dell’Ovest. La via intrapresa era l’unica o ci potevano essere altre possibilità?
Sì, è perfettamente lecito dire oggi che la riunificazione è avvenuta attraverso l’annessione della Ddr alla Repubblica Federale. Per quanto riguarda la possibilità di intraprendere vie alternative, il 30 gennaio 1990 proposi ai sovietici un piano in tre fasi per la riunificazione dei due Stati: se si fosse andati in una direzione di neutralità militare, si sarebbe potuta costruire una confederazione tra Germania Est e Ovest.
È proprio qui che gli Stati Uniti intervengono con forza. Nonostante fosse prevedibile che il Patto di Varsavia sarebbe caduto, una Nato senza Germania era per gli Usa impensabile. Il segretario di stato americano James Baker si recò a Mosca l’8 e il 9 febbraio 1990, e convinse Gorbacev a non mantenere più gli accordi presi con noi.
È pura ipocrisia che oggi Gorbacev lamenti l’espansione a Est della Nato per oltre 800 chilometri. Certo, rileggere vent’anni dopo la storia, alla ricerca di possibili strade alternative, è molto difficile. Ma non è inutile. Il 7 ottobre 2009 ho avuto un colloquio a Mosca con un rappresentante del ministero degli Esteri che sottolineava, in modo molto legittimo, come il governo dell’Urss abbia fatto molti errori nella sua politica estera, nel 1990-91. Errori che oggi non è più possibile correggere.

Fu un’annessione e non una riunificazione, dunque. Quali conseguenze ha portato questo processo? E quali differenze permangono ancora oggi tra le due parti della Germania?
La Germania finora è stata unificata solo dal punto di vista statale mentre dal punto di vista politico, economico e sociale rimane tuttora divisa.
La Camera del popolo della Ddr e il Bundestag (il Parlamento della Germania Federale, ndr), hanno sottoscritto un accordo di unificazione al quale io, come deputato del Parlamento, non ho dato il mio voto. La Ddr, il primo marzo 1990, confermava la proprietà statale delle aziende espropriate tra il 1945 e il 1949 a chi aveva commesso crimini di guerra, come previsto dalla conferenza di Postdam del 1945. La Germania Federale ha tuttavia realizzato una privatizzazione radicale. Più dell’85 per cento delle proprietà popolari è stato acquistato da imprese private della Repubblica Federale, il 10 per cento è andato al capitale straniero e solo il 5 per cento è rimasto nelle mani dei tedeschi dell’Est. La conseguenza è stato il raddoppio della disoccupazione nella Ddr. Nonostante tutte le promesse, gli stipendi nell’Est sono ancora inferiori a quelli dell’Ovest di oltre il 20 percento. Intere generazioni dell’Est si sono sentite guardate con disprezzo dall’Ovest per le loro capacità inferiori.
E ancora oggi c’è chi divide i tedeschi tra buoni e cattivi come ai tempi della Guerra fredda. Se manca l’attenzione
reciproca e non ci si sforza di trovare un’armonia, è impossibile far nascere una comunità fondata sulla fiducia. La povertà infantile, prima della riunificazione non esisteva in nessuno dei due Stati. Adesso invece è un problema quotidiano e un numero sempre maggiore di cittadini affronta una povertà crescente a fronte di una ricchezza che interessa un numero sempre più esiguo di persone. Ma questa realtà, nella Germania di oggi, viene rimossa, a vantaggio di una rappresentazione del Paese sempre più lontana dalla verità. In tutte le osservazioni i nessi reali vengono sfocati.

Mentre la sinistra, in molti Paesi europei, anche in Italia, si trova all’interno di una grave crisi, in Germania la Linke, sebbene sia un partito nuovo, riesce a portare avanti battaglie di successo. Le ultime elezioni tedesche lo hanno dimostrato. Com’è stato possibile? 
La Linke terrà nel maggio 2010 il suo secondo congresso. E lì per la prima volta si tireranno le somme per realizzare un’analisi approfondita del suo operato. La Linke è nata dalla Pds-Linkspartei, che affonda le proprie radici ai tempi della Ddr, e dalla bisogno di un’alternativa di voto nell’Ovest, dove l’Spd non riusciva più a rappresentare le rivendicazioni sociali e sindacali. La Linke oggi nei lander dell’Ovest supera la soglia del 5 per cento e i risultati nell’Est sono sopra il 25 per cento. Alle elezioni per il Bundestag la Linke ha avuto molti voti tra coloro che un tempo votavano Spd, anche se l’emorragia di elettori dei socialdemocratici ha principalmente ingrossato le fila del non voto. Un’analisi sociale della Linke è tuttora aperta, il processo di sviluppo interno del nuovo partito non si è ancora concluso, e anzi è poliedrico e aperto. Il nostro rapporto con la storia e le tradizioni del movimento operaio tedesco devono ancora essere discusse insieme, i risultati raggiunti nell’Est devono essere consolidati e quelli dell’Ovest estesi. Solo nel 2011 la Linke avrà un programma capace di unire le sue aspirazioni sociali e politiche attuali con i propri obiettivi socialisti. È una strada difficile da percorrere, che ci offre la possibilità di determinare in modo più preciso il profilo di un partito popolare e socialista che si pone a sinistra dell’Spd.

Linkenpolitiker soll 17-Jährigem Drogen verkauft haben

(hh). Der Verdacht der Strafverfolger ist schwerwiegend. Denn nach Überzeugung der Staatsanwaltschaft soll der Linkenpolitiker Ali Al Dailami aus Gießen 60 Gramm Marihuana an einen Minderjährigen verkauft haben. Das bestätigte Oberstaatsanwalt Reinhard Hübner, Pressesprecher der Gießener Strafverfolgungsbehörde, gestern im Gespräch mit dem Anzeiger.

Wegen unerlaubten Handels mit Betäubungsmittel war bereits im April Anklage gegen den 27-Jährigen erhoben worden, der seit Mitte 2008 Mitglied im Bundesvorstand der Linken und migrationspolitischer Sprecher der Partei ist. Eine Stellungnahme des Politikers zu den Vorwürfe war nicht zu erhalten.

Ayer se cumplió el veinte aniversario de uno de los hechos más transcendentales de finales del siglo pasado, me estoy refiriendo a la caída del Muro de Berlín el 9 de Noviembre de 1989, un muro que separó a miles de alemanes y berlineses en dos zonas muy diferentes entre sí, en la zona occidental estuvo la Alemania capitalista de la RFA, mientras que en la zona del Este de Alemania, la zona comunista de la RDA, supuso un de los grandes símbolos de la Guerra Fría entre los EEUU y la URSS, al ser este muro la frontera natural entre el comunismo y el capitalismo, a la vez que era el símbolo de la división del mundo en dos Bloques, era también la división entre las dos Alemania durante cuarenta años.

Es trascendental este momento ya que supuso el fin del comunismo en los países del Este de Europa tras el férreo dominio de la URSS desde finales de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, si bien hay que decir que el comunismo en el país donde surgió, la URSS duró hasta 1991 tras la caída de Mijaíl Gorbachov, este “Muro de Protección Antifascista” (Antifaschistischer Schutzwall) como lo llamaban los dirigentes de la RDA media unos 155 Kilómetros, los orígenes de este muro hay que remontarse hasta principios de la década de los 60, cuando la guerra fría había alcanzado grado de tensión entre los dos bloques enorme con lo que este antagonismo tuvo como gran exponente a las dos Alemanias que fue desgraciadamente el escenario donde EE.UU. y la URSS parecían querer dirimir sus diferencias.

En ese clima de crispación ideológica, miles de ciudadanos germano-orientales huían de la persecución política hacia la Alemania Occidental, en aquellos años se calcula que unos 50.000 trabajadores de Berlín Oriental trabajaban y vivían en Berlín Oeste, pero se aprovechaban de las condiciones financieras favorables de Berlín Este, a esto que digo le unes la implantación en la RFA de una moneda nacional, el marco, cuya economía hizo que prosperase en poco tiempo alteraron radicalmente los planes de desarrollo económico soviético en Berlín y en la parte oriental alemana, esto tuvo como consecuencia que la diferencia en el nivel de vida entre la RFA y la RDA fuese elevada, por lo que tras exigir Jruschov la retirada de Berlín de todas las tropas de ocupación, el 13 de Agosto de 1961, fuerzas de seguridad germano- orientales, cerraron con alambres de espino o ladrillo y cemento los pasos del Este al Oeste y empezaron a construir el muro.

Ante la construcción de este muro las reacciones internacionales fueron muy débiles, sobretodo del lado occidental ya que EEUU y las otras potencias occidentales dijeron que era una solución ideal antes que enfrentarse a una guerra atómica contra los soviéticos, por lo que dejaron que la URSS construyese el muro por toda Alemania, su construcción fue una confirmación material del statu quo de división que se venía ejerciendo desde la creación de la RDA y la RFA en 1949, a esta situación de división de Alemania hubo muchos que lograron huir de la RDA, aunque lamentablemente muchos murieron en su intento hacia la libertad de Occidente.

Este muro duro hasta el 9 de Noviembre de 1989, su caída fue consecuencia de las exigencias de libertad de circulación en la ex-RDA y las evasiones constantes hacia las embajadas de capitales de países del Pacto de Varsovia (especialmente Praga y Varsovia) y por la frontera entre Hungría y Austria, que impuso menos restricciones en verano de 1989, aunque el verdadero impulsor de que se abriese este muro fue Gorbachov, presidente de la URSS desde 1985, gracias a las medidas famosas de la perestroika y glasnost, quería modificar el obsoleto y anticuado sistema económico de planificación estatal vigente en la URSS casi desde su creación con la introducción de medidas liberalizadoras económicas con el objetivo claro de preservar el sistema socialista, esto unido a medidas de transparencia democrática hizo que se provocase el fin de la era Gorbachov y el colapso y la desintegración de la URSS en 1991.

Estas medidas de Gorbachov en política exterior se basaron en una pacificación de las relaciones internacionales, en buenos contactos con EEUU, estos aires de cambio llegaron a los países del Este, la RDA también llegó haciendo que las manifestaciones masivas contra el gobierno se sucedieran casi todos los días, finalmente tras una confusión del portavoz de la RDA se permitió la salida de los ciudadanos de la RDA a donde ellos quisieran, esto provoco un aluvión de berlineses hacia el muro, al rato entraron los primeros berlineses orientales en Occidente con lo que hizo un momento cumbre del siglo XX, haciendo caer el infame Muro de Berlín tras 28 años de vigencia.

Tras veinte años de su caída, cayo la RDA, un Estado donde la SED, el partido comunista y la Stasi, la policía secreta controlaron durante de forma cruel e inhumana cuarenta años todo el país, haciendo que la vida ordinaria en la Alemania oriental fuese casi un infierno al carecer totalmente de libertad personal, no podías irte del país, eras controlado constantemente por la Stasi, la política económica empezó a quebrar haciendo que la carestía y la falta de alimentos básicos fuese algo normal, todo esto cambio con la reunificación en Octubre de 1990 ya que la parte occidental se dedico y todavía lo sigue haciendo mediante impuestos solidarios está logrando equiparar la vida entre las dos antiguas alemanias, ahora mismo la situación no es tan buena como lo deseaban los dirigentes en 1989, en los länder del este todavía sigue habiendo mucho desempleo, los distintos gobiernos no han ayudado a salir de la crisis que sufren constantemente ni a industrialización que se prometió, sigue habiendo mucha emigración todavía del Este al Oeste, y lo que para mí es mucho peor, sigue habiendo muchos alemanes occidentales que no se fían de los orientales y están cansados de seguir pagando el impuesto para modernizar el Este, en el Este sigue existiendo la mentalidad comunista de que antes el Estado te lo daba todo, por lo que no había que esforzarse mucho, ya no tienen eso, con lo que ha habido muchos enfados, cabe citar que La Izquierda, partido sucesor del SED tuvo un 12% de los votos en las anteriores elecciones, esta doble mentalidad es muy lamentable que se siga pensando ya que aunque es pequeño el porcentaje de gente que dice piensa así, a día de hoy la gran mayoría de los alemanes tienen un gran sentimiento de unidad nacional de Alemania.

Nachdem es Nachrichtenjunkies wie mir unmöglich war, dem Mauerfall-Jubiläum zu entkommen, möchte ich meine Gedanken mit euch teilen. Ich bin tief berührt von der Tatsache, dass dort, wo vor 20 Jahren die Menschen noch erschossen wurden, wenn sie zu ihren Familien ins Nachbarland fliehen wollten, heute eine große Party stattfinden kann. Stellt euch das vor: Ihr lebt ein paar hundert Meter Luftlinie von geliebten Menschen entfernt, könnt sie aber nicht sehen.

Was mich noch wesentlich mehr freut ist das Faktum, dass diese Mauer von den Bürgern selbst buchstäblich überrannt wurde. Das war das Paradebeispiel einer friedlichen Revolution. Einer Revolution, die vom Volk, und nicht von Kadern ausging. Der geniale Slogen der Demonstranten in den Wochen und Monaten zuvor brachte es auf den Punkt: “Wir sind das Volk!” Er ist absolut großartig: Da die SED, die selbsternannte Vorkämpferin der Revolution der glorreichen Arbeiter- und Bauernmassen, kurz: dem Volk. Und hier Hunderttausende, einmal sogar eine Million, die nichts anderes sagen als “Wir sind das Volk.” Was sie nicht dazusagen brauchen: Und nicht ihr; Denn wir haben die Schnauze voll von euch, und schicken euch in die Wüste – denn wir kämpfen schon selber für uns.

Was man nicht übersehen darf, ist jedoch die große Veränderung in den Jahren zuvor: Ungarns alte Garde hatte plötzlich nichts mehr zu melden und der Eiserne Vorhang zu Österreich wurde geöffnet. In Polen hatte die Gewerkschaft Solidarność dem alten Regime in jahrelangen Kämpfen massive Zugeständnisse abgetrotzt. Und in der Sowjetunion hatte Gorbatschow erkannt, dass es nicht möglich ist, Unrechtsregime ewig zu erhalten. Schon gar nicht, wenn sie quasi bankrott sind und keinen wirtschaftlichen Erfolg haben.

Plötzlich stand Honecker allein vor Ochs und Esel (genannt Volk), die sich anschickten, den Sozialismus nicht nur aufzuhalten, sondern gleich zu zerschmettern. Und so musste er den Hut nehmen – doch auch das konnte das verknöcherte, korrupte SED-Regime nicht mehr retten. Das Wunder, für das wir alle dankbar sein sollten, ist jedoch, dass keine Schüsse fielen. Der 9. November 1989 war eine der Gelegenheiten, die Menschheit in einem 3. Weltkrieg zu vernichten.

Und heute sind die beiden Deutschlands vereint, die EU reicht bis ans Schwarze Meer, die Nato bis vor Russlands Haustür, und ein halber Kontinent lebt in Freiheit statt Unterdrückung. Selbstverständlich gab und gibt es immer noch viele Probleme – dass etwa die Straßen in den kapitalistischen Ländern nicht mit Gold gepflastert waren, wie man ihnen weis machte, war eine herbe Enttäuschung für viele Osteuropäer. Auch der enorme Druck, den die Globalisierung ausübt, ist nicht gerade wünschenswert. Doch all diese Nachteile verblassen, wenn man den Vergleich zu den Zeiten des Realsozialismus zieht.

Noch ein paar Worte zu denen, die die DDR verteidigen. Ja, einiges mag besser gewesen sein (etwa die soziale Absicherung). Nur: Na und? Hitler baute die Autobahn. Wenn man einen Staat und dessen Staatsform an sich beurteilen will, dann wird das alles irrelevant. Dann zählt nur eine Frage: Ist es ein Rechts-, oder ein Unrechtsstaat? Denn nur darauf kommt es an – hält sich der Staat, als Ausformung der Gesellschaft, an die eigenen Regeln? Kann er damit von den Mitgliedern seiner Gesellschaft zur Verantwortung gezogen werden? Und die DDR, mitsamt dem Stasi-Apparat, war ein enormer Unrechtsstaat. Daran ändert auch keine Wohnbaupolitik oder was weiß ich was etwas – ob wir von der Wohnbaupolitik der DDR was lernen können, schauen wir uns dann an, wenn es um Wohnbau geht. Wer aber heute noch Stalinismus, den real existierenden Sozialismus oder ähnliches Pack verteidigt, ist für mich ebenso abscheulich wie Nazis. Denn die Menschenverachtung war die selbe, auch wenn die Jäckchen bei den Massenaufmärschen rot statt braun waren.

Aber lassen wir das. Stoßen wir einfach darauf an, dass alles gut gegangen ist. Dass ein halber Kontinent in zwanzig Jahren – dem Zeitraum von nur einer Generation – einen in dieser Größenordnung noch nie dagewesenen Sprung nach vorne geschafft hat. Und darauf, dass zusammenwuchs, was zusammengehört. Prost! Cheers! Nastrowje! Salute!

Cicero : Gab es denn irgendwelche Konflikte mit Mitschülern?
Das sowieso. Bei meinem ersten Kontakt im Westen überhaupt wurde ich von Türken in meinem Alter dafür angemacht, dass ich Ostler bin. Einfach so aus dem Nichts. Das war für mich damals unverständlich. Und ich bin auch wirklich nicht der Typ, der so was auf sich sitzen lässt. Beim dritten oder vierten Mal musste ich dann was dagegen sagen. Und da kam es natürlich auch zu Schlägereien. Das hatte es vorher im Osten nicht gegeben.

Aber Hallo …. Hallöle … ist denn die Wahrheit und Realität und das ganze andere Teufelszeug jetzt hier wieder salonfähig in Schildburgien? Probleme , welche man absichtlich importiert hat, existieren ? Und die brauchte man überhaupt nicht lösen ?

Cicero: Die ersten zweieinhalb Schuljahre sind Sie noch im Osten zur Schule gegangen. Wie verlief der Wechsel in die BRD?
Als ich im Westen in die Schule kam dachte ich sofort: „Was ist denn hier los?!“ Im Osten mussten wir immer gerade sitzen, das war die erste Aufgabe in der Schule. Im Westen war ich wirklich schockiert: Da sind Leute einfach aufgestanden und auf die Toilette gegangen. Ich habe das dann auch sehr schnell ausgenutzt. Das mir so eine Chance geboten wurde, war ein großer Fehler”

Naja, Sido : gerade sitzen musste man nicht unbedingt . Aber auf Disziplin und anderen Schwachsinn , bei denen Schüler der Gefahr ausgesetzt sind etwas zu lernen und damit in der Lehre nicht vollständig zu versagen ,wurde schon ein Stück weit Wert gelegt . Was aber natürlich völlig Autobahn ist. So einen Mist brauch man nicht ….Nachts in der U-Bahn Unterführung …. Hallo die Enten .
