You all know that I adore Matt Betts.  We scuffle, fight, stomp around, take scowling swipes at each other, and neither of us have even made it into the HWA yet.  Which cracks me up, but seriously.  I’m so going to beat him one day.  Really.

But besides just being loads of growly fun, Matt is an awesome writer.  Witty and funny is difficult to pull off, especially when it comes to poetry, but Matt manages to do it with ease.  His new chapbook of poetry is titled See No Evil, Say No Evil.  It’s a delightful little book crammed full of his work and some pretty spiffy drawings by Rebecca Whitaker.  It’s packed full of Matt’s signature humor that suddenly dives into something poignant and fairly painful. Whether he’s touching on sharks (“Everybody Out of the Water”), Elvis (“Elvis and Gretel in the Woods beyond the Railroad Tracks”), or villainy (“Side Effects May Include Itching and Super-Villainy” and my favorite poem of all, “My Bad”), I can promise you that it’ll be a completely unique take on familiar characters.  It’s worth buying the entire collection just to read “The Night Godzilla Dumped his Chick”.  Relationships are tough…and tougher still when your love is cheating on you with the entire city of Tokyo.

I nearly snorted Coke Zero out of my nose half a dozen times while I read this, and ended up reading most of the book to my husband.  But it isn’t all laughs.  The giggling stops abruptly sometimes when Matt zeroes in on something particularly bruised or lonely.  Making you laugh and then poking at universal wounds?  That’s playing dirty.  But it’s very, very cool.

Do you ever feel stuck? Find one thing piling on top of another? I can relate. Sometimes we don’t realize we’re getting stuck until we’re immobilized. For CSGY’s, this can look like over-committing time, having too much to do with it all seeming crucial, or being interested in so many things that we have trouble choosing among them which leads to getting paralyzed and doing nothing. It can take many forms. The question is, how to we get unstuck?

Before we consider that, another question begs asking: What’s a CSGY? CSGY is an acronym for Creative, (Highly) Sensitive, Gifted people. It can be further specified with CSIGY and CSEGY, for introverts or extroverts.  I like to pronounce it Csiggy or Cseggy. Someone has suggested Ziggy or Zeggy.

To address the issue of getting unstuck, I’d like to share some life lessons that are currently showing up for me. My present Creative & Contemplative Handwork project, Unraveling Chaos, includes satin stitching. Satin stitching is a zigzag stitch with a very short distance between stitches. It’s supposed to be so smooth that it looks like satin, hence the name. I’ve been having trouble with some of these stitches getting stuck and piling up on top of each other. What a mess!

When something like this happens, my first inclination is to take the stitches out and start over. But since this art piece is also a metaphor for life, I’ve refrained myself. In life I can’t stop, back up and start over, so I’ve limited my options here to those available on this planet. I’ve then had a choice to make: give up on the project or find a way to get unstuck and resume normal stitching. Metaphor for life? Yes, indeed. My commitment to reality has also meant that I’ve had to face my frustration, anger, guilt, fear and shame about its many imperfections.

Like many CSGY’s, I want what I do to be perfect. No, I NEED it to be perfect. If what I do isn’t perfect, then I’m not perfect, and I’m supposed to be flawless. Oh, I know that’s not logical, but what is? I know in my frontal lobes that no one is perfect, but that doesn’t stop me from feeling like I’m supposed to be perfect. It also doesn’t change the fact that I am aware of many things that others aren’t. This leads to others thinking that what I’ve done is perfect (and telling me so) when I know it’s far from it.

Getting unstuck first requires me to identify when the stitches are piling on top of each other.  When I don’t recognize that stitches are piling up, they pile higher, deeper and wider. The quicker I know that I’m getting stuck, the quicker I can get unstuck. This requires me to overcome perfectionism and see things the way they are rather than the way I want them to be or think they ought to be.

There’s a statue of three monkeys in my office: “See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil.” Maybe it was as prominent in your childhood as it was in mine.  Maybe not. It can be useful in teaching children to stay safe and in preventing gossip and negativity. On the other hand, it can hold us in Fantasy-Land. When this happens, we also need another set of Monkeys that allows us to connect with reality. This new set of monkeys brings this message:

Monkey Magic

• See what you see.
• Hear what you hear.
• Feel what you feel.
• Know what you know.
• Think your own thoughts.
• Say what you need to say.
• Do what you need to do.
• Be where you are.
• Be who you (really) are.

When these new monkeys set the tone for our lives, we can catch on when things are off kilter much more quickly than we do when we’re out of touch with reality. On a practical level, how can we embrace these nine magical monkeys? It starts with tuning in to what is going on inside of us and around us.  There’s a skill to this, just as there is with anything new with music, we practice scales and chords. With physical strength, we can do push-ups and sit-ups or lift weights. Here, we ask ourselves, “What’s happening?” and “How am I feeling?” Feelings include body sensations and emotions.  Just as with musical skill and physical development, it helps to practice daily.

It takes less than ten minutes a day to develop a habit of openness and awareness.  It’s done best when we use a consistent time of day. Many CSGY’s find that writing down their discoveries reinforces the habit, involves both the kinesthetic and visual brains, and paves the way to return to it later, review what’s recorded and identify trends or patterns.  To make this easier, I’ve developed a “Daily Tune-in Tool” that many CSGY’s have found helpful in developing the awareness habit. Inhalt:
Zu Beginn sieht man zwei Polizisten zu einem scheinbar verlassenen Haus gehen denn die Nachbarn hatten angerufen, dass sie laute Musik gehört haben und auch Schreie. Die Polizisten finden bereits beim Betreten Blut an den Wänden und in einem von Kerzen beleuchteten Zimmer finden sie eine am Boden kauernde Frau, die statt Augen nur noch zwei übel zugerichtete schwarze Löcher im Kopf hat – doch den Polizisten bleibt nicht viel Zeit sich an diesen Anblick zu gewöhnen denn sogleich taucht auch schon der Übeltäter in Form des stämmigen, 2,10 m großen Jacob Goodnight auf und bringt sogleich den ersten Polizist zur Strecke. Dem zweiten trennt er einen Arm ab doch diesem gelingt es noch, dem Riesenbaby eine Kugel durch den Kopf zu jagen.


Vier Jahre später setzt die Story wieder ein. Der damals beteiligte Polizist hat mittlerweile eine Armprothese und arbeitet in einer Strafvollzugsanstalt für jugendliche Straftäter. Nun soll ein ganz neues Projekt gestartet werden zur Strafminderung einer Gruppe Inhaftierter. Eine handvoll Mädels und eine handvoll Jungs aus dem Gefängnis fahren in einem Bus mit ihren Wärtern zu einem heruntergekommenen Hotel. Eine alte Dame hat ihnen das Angebot gemacht, dass sie ihr drei Tage bei den Renovierungsarbeiten helfen können. Wenn sie sich ordentlich bewähren erhalten sie einen Monat Straferlass. Was sie nicht wissen ist, dass sie mit der alten Dame nicht allein im Hotel sind…
Die oberen Etagen sollen sie zwar nicht betreten weil dort vor Jahren ein schlimmer Brand gewütet hatte und seitdem nichts erneuert wurde aber wenn die Betreuer unten in der Bar sitzen und einen nach dem anderen kippen hält dieses Verbot die jugendlichen Kriminellen natürlich nicht davon ab es doch zu tun und bald darf einer nach dem anderen Bekanntschaft mit Jacob machen, der eigenartigerweise nicht tot sondern auf Rache aus ist…


Eindrücke:
Vielleicht sind jetzt beim einen oder anderen bereits die ersten Fragen aufgetaucht… Es wird z. B. nie gesagt, dass Jacobs Leiche gar nicht gefunden wurde und die ganze Aktion – warum steckt man kriminelle Mädels mit kriminellen Jungs gemeinsam in so ein Projekt? So was Dämliches würde wohl niemand tun. Dazu noch in ein so wenig gesichertes, riesiges Gebäude wo es überall Fluchtmöglichkeiten gäbe. Ich sage gäbe denn im ganzen Film hat nur eine Einzige wirklich die Absicht abzuhauen. Sind die anderen so brav dass sie es nicht tun? Sind sie so vernünftig dass sie denken sie werden eh geschnappt? Sind sie so blöd dass sie einfach nicht auf die Idee kommen? Dazu kommt, dass es an der Disziplin auch etwas hapert. Statt den Jugendlichen das Rauchen zu verbieten lässt sich der männliche Aufseher von den Mädels auch noch ne Zigarette (die sie zuvor der weiblichen Betreuerin geklaut hatten – und die ist so blöd dass sie es nicht schnallt…) geben und geht wieder in die Bar wo er zusammen mit der Alten und seiner weiblichen Kollegin einen nach dem anderen kippt. Also so weit so gut, scheinbar stellen sich die Amis gerne für blöd hin und ziehen ihr Strafvollzugssystem scheinbar gerne ins Lächerliche… Die Jugendlichen haben dazu noch Drogen dabei, da hat auch keiner drauf geachtet, die andere hat von der Wärterin auch noch das Handy geklaut (hat sie auch nicht gemerkt)… und um das Ganze jetzt nicht noch weiter zu treiben sage ich nur noch also wer Logik sucht soll woanders suchen aber nicht in diesem Film!Also gehen wir die Sache anders an: Noch mal von vorn! Hirn ausschalten, vielleicht ein Bierchen zur Hand nehmen und das logische Denken völlig deaktivieren, stattdessen voll auf visuelle Empfängnis schalten. – Und siehe da! Auf einmal erwartet einen ein wirklich ansehnliches Filmchen. Das Blut spritzt nur so denn der gute Jacob sieht nicht nur überzeugend Furcht einflößend aus (okay in manchen Einstellungen weicht dieser Eindruck leider einem leicht dämlich-belämmerten Aussehen) sondern er geht auch nicht gerade zaghaft (Achtung Euphemismus) mit seinen Opfern um. Mit einer schweren Eisenkette an deren Ende ein Fleischerhaken befestigt ist fängt er seine Beute ein und schleift sie durch die Gänge so dass deren Köpfe nur so gegen die Wände krachen – vor allem die Geräusche sind da auch ziemlich derb. Dann nimmt er seine langen schmutzigen Fingernägel und man sieht im Detail wie er ihnen teilweise bei lebendigem Leib die Augen aus dem Höhlen reißt.
Was die ersten ca. 20 bis 30 Minuten (wenn man die Eingangszene mal außer Acht lässt) eher zäh beginnt, steigert sich bis zum Ende immer mehr an Grausamkeit und Brutalität um letztendlich in einem wirklich gut gemachten, sehr brutalen Ende zum Finale zu kommen. Um noch mal auf eine Splatter/Gore-Szene speziell einzugehen, z. B. Jacob entdeckt ein Mädel das einen Feuerwehrschlauch um den Bauch gebunden hat und sich mittels diesem aus einem der oberen Stockwerke vor ihm nach unten flüchten will. Er zieht sie erst wieder hoch doch weil sie ihn so sehr anfleht er möge sie doch runter lassen, nimmt er sie doch glatt beim Wort und sie saust kopfüber nach unten, durch ein Glasdach, kracht mit dem Kopf auf den Boden, lebt aber noch und dann kommt eine Meute hungriger Streunerhunde und stürzt sich auf sie. Gut, bei der Szene wird dann ausgeblendet, man sieht nicht so viel, es soll mehr eine Art Gag sein weil sie dem einen Streunenden Köter gegen Anfang des Films noch was von ihrer Essensration gegeben hatte…. und was ich als absolut eklig empfand ist eien Szene in der Jacobs Loch im Kopf sichtbar ist wo er damals vor 4 jahren angeschossen wurde und die Klappe geht auf und fette, eklige Maden quillen aus dem Kopf *argh* – ich hasse Maden!!!
Also wenn man es wirklich nur auf explizite Gewaltdarstellung (abgetrennte Gliedmaßen, aufgespießte Menschen, durchbohrte Hälse,…) ohne übermäßige Längen abgesehen hat ist man hier doch gut unterhalten aber wie gesagt nicht zu sehr über irgendetwas nachdenken.


Bei den Personen fällt es einem leicht sich nicht allzu große Gedanken über sie zu machen. Wirkliche Sympathie baut man zu keinem auf. Die Jugendlichen sind klischeehaft dämlich und unsympathisch bis auf vielleicht zwei oder drei, die Wärter werden nur kurz genauer beleuchtet und selbst der mit der Armprothese vom Anfang ist nicht so gut gezeichnet dass man ihn (wie es, z. B. durch die Geste mit der Zigarette oder das Gespräch mit einem der Mädels, dem Zuschauer vermittelt werden soll) ehrlich bedauern würde wenn er dann (ich hoffe ich verrate hier nicht zu viel) dann letztendlich abtreten muss. Da es sich um einen eiskalten Slasherfilm handelt würde ich wohl eher zu viel verraten wenn ich sagen würde ob und wer überlebt)
Um noch mal auf den Killer zurück zu kommen. Hierbei handelt es sich um den Wrestler Glan Jacobs besser bekannt als “Kane”, der mit seinen etwas über 2,10 m und 140 kg Gewicht eine doch recht stattliche Figur abgibt. Viel Text musste der Gute ja nicht lernen aber von seiner Mimik und Gestik her konnte er mich durchaus überzeugen, bis auf einige Szenen in denen eben der böse Blick einem leicht belämmerten weicht. Vielleicht auch absichtlich weil er ja nicht einfach grundlos mordet sondern hier lässt man den Zuschauer ausnahmsweise nicht im Dunkeln tappen, es wird gut erklärt was Jacob zu dem gemacht hat was er ist und ich fand es auch gut rüber gebracht durch diese Rückblenden immer wieder in den entscheidenden Momenten.


Das Budget für den Film betrug 8 Millionen Dollar aber dafür bekommt der Zuschauer auch etliche wirklich gute Effekte geboten. Selbst die Computeranimationen (Gebäude von außen, Fliegen…) wirken sehr realistisch und keinesfalls störend wie in manchen Billig-Produktionen. Auf die dämlichen Hinweise, dass der Regisseur Gregory Dark eigentlich Porno-Regisseur ist und man hier eventuell Vergleiche ziehen könnte (nicht weil es Sexszenen geben würde – gibt es nämlich keine wirklichen) möchte ich hier verzichten denn ich finde diese Parallelen an den Haaren herbei gezogen, da könnte man auch in etlichen anderen Horrorfilmen auf die Suche nach solchen sexuellen Bezügen gehen und würde weit expliziter fündig. Ob es z. B. unbedingt mit einer bestimmten sexuellen Handlung verbunden werden kann wenn der fette Kerl einer Blondine ihr Handy in den Hals schiebt – okay, natürlich mit etwas Fantasie aber lassen wir das mal. Wenn ich nicht gewusst hätte dass Gregory Dark aus dieser Szene kommt hätte ich an so was gar nicht gedacht (ob ihr´s glaubt oder nicht). Um nochmal auf das Budget zurück zu kommen: was die Atmosphäre des Films angeht wurde hier nämlich tolle Arbeit geleistet. Das Hotel sieht so richtig schön schmuddelig aus, dazu alles schön düster – also wirklich gut gemacht!


Ich kann mich auf jeden Fall den vielen Kritikern die den Film so schlecht gemacht haben nicht anreihen. Klar ist er recht hirnlos aber wenn ich nen derben Slasher sehen will achte ich beim besten Willen nicht so drauf ob in der Handlung alles stimmig ist, ob die Charaktere perfekt gezeichnet sind sondern dann will ich das Blut spritzen sehen und ausgefallene Wege wie die Opfer zur Strecke gebracht werden. Wenn ich nen Film mit intelligenter Handlung will greife ich gezielt auf etwas anderes zurück. ich denke man kann nicht immer alles auf einmal haben und sollte seine Erwartungen in diesem Fall einfach etwas zurückschrauben und sich aufs Wesentliche (*muahahaha*) konzentrieren und HIER kann der Film in meinen Augen durchaus überzeugen!

It looks like we have more than one long-form mystery this year. And Melinda hasn’t even gone into the catacombs beneath Grandview yet. No sign of the Watcher, which is a shame. I’d be interested to see what his take on Scarlet is.

They even managed to put a clever twist on the ghost-of-the-week story, albeit under a very dated premise. Maybe it’s because I’m not young and impressionable anymore, but does anyone really believe in those chain emails anymore? They’ve been around for how many years now? Send this to ten people or you tongue will crawl out of your mouth and lick your butt.

I thought those were the butt of jokes these days, but here it was being treated as something that some people are still wary of. Gwen, the primary ghost we were concerned with, was so wary of them that she was haunting recipients of it to keep it going.

Yes, she thought by doing so she could save her mother from a coma but … what? How crazy was this chick? Head trauma, I guess. She was pretty scratched up.

I kind of like seeing Ned as a more active participant in the capers now. He’s more than just Delia’s son. In fact, I think Ned’s been getting more airtime than her. Tonight, she was just the would-be victim of crazy ghost when Ned deleted the chain email.

It was kind of a good thing that her mother showed up when she did, also dead, because Melinda wasn’t getting through. I did have to wonder, though, why the light appeared for Gwen. Didn’t she just hurt a bunch of people for no good reason?

I guess because she was confused, and nobody got killed, all is forgiven. How very heartwarming. Even Melinda stopped being pissed at and frustrated with her and just crossed her over.

Which left the weird little girl who lives in the hospital and Scarlet, the sewn up ghost who’s “directing” her to do … whatever it is they’re trying to do. I’m guessing this will be a recurring storyline, so we probably won’t see it next week.

But they’ve been laying it on pretty heavy that there’s something different about the hospital, other than it being a natural hangout for ghosts. And they put Jim working there, which makes it a more convenient destination for the characters.

The Dark Knight is a brilliant follow-up to Batman Begins. In this instalment, Batman faces his arch nemesis, The Joker, who is a homicidal clown maniac that mocks the ways of the world today. With the help of Jim Gordon and Harvey Dent, Batman sets on a treacherous mission to soil The Joker’s plans of terrorizing Gotham City.

Christopher Nolan is serially known for directing psychological thrillers such as Memento and Insomnia. Known for his dedication and darker characters in movies like The Machinist and American Psycho, Christian Bale reprises his role as Bruce Wayne.  The Joker is played by Heath Ledger who gave a truly memorable and haunting adaptation of The Joker.

When you package a movie with the talents of Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale and Heath Ledger, you get a pretty awesome surprise. Be prepared to be at edge of seat for a pure adrenaline ride that will shock your senses and bring food for thought.

Sometimes, a true hero has to sacrifice himself at the mercy of others for a bigger cause. Not only is this movie the ultimate showdown between Batman and The Joker, it the true fight of good versus evil.

I have a few dollars to burn. Can I buy some time from you?

I have forgotten my name because it became unimportant. When you bid good riddance to your insecurities and instilled beliefs, your name is just a trivial matter that doesn’t define your identity. It’s weird how people confuse identity for a name and a few digits.

I am the epitome of actualized individualism and you think of me as a fucking nightmare. You people are a funny bunch but you call me the joker. At least my ideals do not drift and I do not rationalize my adversaries like a prostitute robbed of freewill.

I believe in a society based on mutual respect and logic. There are many differences between my cape crusader friend and I, but I respect him for being the unorthodox hero and standing up for what he believes in, even if it seems like he’s fighting a lost cause.

It seems that life as an extension of art, with no masters, no slaves, no walls, is just too fucking poetic. So, we must destroy in order to rebuild. I used to be like you, bogged down by chains but I’ve mastered the art of self-destruction. Now, I wear the world on my sleeve. What do you wear on yours?

Stop being so scared shitless all the fucking time. What are you so afraid of? Change? I make and break change.

Come minions. It is time to make superior changes in your minute lives.

Based on a true story of the great adventures of Christopher McCandless, Into The Wild is a story of escapism made real in the 20th century. Christopher is brilliant young man who is hungry for realness which came to him in the form of an adventure.

Upon graduation, Christopher leaves his worldly possessions in pursuit of self-realization. Past adversaries played an important role in pushing him out of society and into nature where he would find truth in simplicity. He disregarded worldly possessions as a hygiene factor of society, gave his life’s savings to charity, and burnt away his money.

His mission was to wander the wonders of Alaska. In that journey, he found friendship, joy and peace in strange places and most importantly, himself.

Into The Wild is the needful version of American Beauty, minus consumerism. The cinematography is a sight for sore eyes – mountains, plains, sky, rivers, and animals. Acoustics from Eddie Vedder enhances the experience, making this one of the movies that deserves remembrance.

I’ve always liked Punk from more of a musical standpoint than ideological or otherwise, one reason I like The Clash more than the Sex Pistols. With that in mind, I find it interesting that Television were ever considered Punk, being more poetic and melodious than their peers, including X. Usually this direction of music is lost on me; I still haven’t listened to Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach’s Painted from Memory past “Toledo”.

What does immediately impress me and captivate me is the level of musicianship these four exhibit. Like fellow 70’s American Punk group Devo, Television had apparently been playing for years before their first record was released, (in Television’s case, since 1973). In that time, like Devo, Television had grown to master their guitars, but Devo never performed theirs in such a splendid fashion. Frontman Tom Verlaine and guitarist Richard Lloyd know their punchy chords, but they also know their way around the guitar’s frets, and they make those strings sing in almost every track. Best examples include leadoff track “See No Evil”, Blues-Boogie number “Friction”, “Prove it” from side two’s softer numbers, and the 10 & 1/2-minute guitar classic “Marquee Moon” (which also features my two favorite guitar solos on the record). Not even East Bay Ray did such a fantastic performance on the Dead Kennedys’ debut, but then again he wasn’t two guitarists at once.

Tom Verlaine is not bad at all as a vocalist; he can be a bit of a warbler and a wailer, but he’s not at all a singer I had to “get used to”.

While there’s not a bad song on the record, it still gets to me that side two is softer and slower than side one, getting more romantic than before. I’ve never understood why anyone thinks it’s necessary for an energetic record (marginally as Marquee Moon is) to include slower moments; they never sit right with me. That being said, the guitars are still played expertly and beautifully. They play particularly hauntingly in “Elevation” and “Torn Curtain”, sweetly in “Guiding Light”, while almost going rock virtuoso in “Prove It” (my third favorite performance overall, as I mentioned). The prominent inclusion of pianos on this side was a little unnecessary, as they neither add nor detract from the listening experience.

As finicky a listener as I am, I was still quite impressed with Television’s debut. For all of Tom Verlaine’s romanticism, they were strong musicians and very talented guitarists. Punk or not, you can rue the day I stop enjoying these tracks.

Um par de cops é chamado para se deslocar a uma residência particular, de modo a acabar com o barulho incomodativo que o pessoal lá da casa andava a provocar. Um mal se descuida, fica com as tripas, bucho e restantes partes interiores de seu corpo da parte de fora, o outro fica sem uma asita, ou melhor, um bracito. Passa-se algum tempo e o cop braceta (acabei de inventar, é o que ficou sem braço), cuida de adolescentes problemáticos. Decide-se através de um programa de intercâmbio, que esses jovens com algumas garinas, também problemáticas, ajudem na restauração de um hotel, em troca de uma redução de pena. É claro que os jovens não querem mexa, mas sim mamar uns wiskys e fumar umas ganzitas. Entretanto, eis que surge em cena o Serial Killer que afiambrou o braço do cop. Quem é ele, não se sabe, mas que faz colecção de olhos, faz (provavelmente será numa campanha para devolver a vista ao Stevie Wonder). Pois bem, como já devem ter adivinhado começa o jogo do rato e do gato, ou melhor, do Serial Killer e das vitimas. Quem sai vencedor? Kane têm um papel a sua medida, sendo ele o Serial Killer, com poucas falas, ou melhor, sem nenhumas (também com o cérebro cheio de vermes, não estariam à espera do ver declamar Hamlet). De Gregory Dark, com Kane (Glenn Jacobs), Christina Vidal, Michael J. Pagan, Samantha Noble, Steven Vidler, Cecily Polson, Luke Pegler, Rachael Taylor, Penny McNamee, Craig Horner, Mikhael Wilder, Tiffany Lamb, Sam Cotton, Cory Robinson e Zoe Ventoura

A prova que os gobos oculares podem rebentar ao assistir aos filmes de Steven Seagal

Los Ojos del Mal (2006)

Tuve la oportunidad de asistir en su momento al pre-estreno de la película. La verdad es que no sabía nada de ella, buena o mala, me daba igual, por que como mínimo, había sido gratis. No me esperaba mucho la verdad, pues cumplía con la misma estructura que muchas otras pelis del género, pero me llevé una sorpresa, y nos encantó! Hacía tiempo que no disfrutaba tanto con un asesino tan despiadado!

La verdad es que esta película debe mucho a su asesino, y no sería la misma sin: Glen Jacobs alias Kane, luchador profesional de lucha libre americana, de nada más y nada menos que 2.13m de altura y 148kg de puros músculos. Este hombretón además tiene la frikada de haber nacido en la base militar de Torrejón de Ardoz, Madrid. No es de extrañar entonces que en los créditos iniciales de la película veamos el sello WWWE Films, o lo que es lo mismo: World Wrestling Entertaintment, aunque sinceramente, tampoco me imagino a lo de la WWWE poniendo esta peli a sus más jovencillos seguidores, a menos que no quieran causarles traumas infantiles de por vida.

El comienzo de Los Ojos Del Mal (Dir: Gregory Dark, 2006 – See No Evil) es brutal! En menos de 3 minutos de película descubrimos un poli muerto (destrozado a hachazos) y 2 mutilados (el otro poli se queda sin brazo y una chica tatuada y retenida sin ojos), todo ello con un impacto y violencia, que rápidamente nos engancha, y nos hace empezar a descargar adrenalina. Además, ya vemos por donde van a ir los tiros, y nos enseñan que es un asesino traumatizado y obsesionado con la religión…. si es que todo fanatismo es malo! Raus, raus! Nuestro asesino en serie tenía la friolera cantidad de 17 cadáveres en su jardín, todos ellos sin ojos! Blind Death!

Después de esta primera toma de contacto, nos trasladan 4 años después del asesino de los ojos, y es para mí, cuando empieza la típica película de terror, llena de topicazos y personajes vacíos, el típico grupo de jóvenes delincuentes (4 chicos y 4 chicas) con sendos responsables, Williams (Steven Vidler), es decir el policía manco y Hannah (Tiffany Lamb), responsable de las chicas malas; los conducen al viejo y destartalado Hotel Blackwell. No obstante, luego me llevé una sorpresa, puesto que como veréis, no se queda en la tópica peli de terror con grupo de adolescentes!

A este grupo de lo más variopinto se le da la oportunidad de hacer un trabajo social (limpieza del hotel) a cambio de la reducción de la condena, evidentemente, estos jovencillos son obligados a ir, y les gustaría más estar pegándose una buena juerga de sexo, alcohol y drogas, que otra cosa. Como supervisora del lugar, encontramos a la dulce Sra. Margaret (Cecil Polson), que según ella es Restauradora de monumentos históricos! Mujer, si las que merecen una restauración a fondo son las 4 chicas! Jajajajjajaja… Parece ser que ahora el inmueble está abandonado y dejado de la mano de Dios, tras un incendio que afectó las plantas superiores, y sus actuales inquilinos son los vagabundos y homless que lo aprovechan de refugio!

A partir de ahí, los delincuentes se van repartiendo para el edificio, momento que aprovecha Jacob Goodnight (Kane) para espiarlos y perseguirlos, momentos que se aprovechan para ir introduciendo flaskbacks de Jacob, donde vemos a un chaval torturado y traumatizado por culpa de una madre ultra-fanática del cristianismo (siempre que veo un personaje así, me viene en mente a Margaret White (Piper Laurie), la madre de nuestra archiconocida, Carrie). La madre inculcará a Jacob la fe cristiana a base de palos, torturas y vejaciones, convirtiéndole en la mano justiciera de Dios, como dice en la película!

Como ya he dicho anteriormente, en esta peli lo de menos son los personajes encarnados por los chicos/as delincuentes, y el potencial de la película reside en la violencia y sadismo, con los que Jacob nos va regalando un asesinato tras otro. Es decir, los personajes pueden estar vacíos en sí, por que lo importante, es la muerte que reciben, convirtiéndose esos momentos, en adrenalina en estado puro. Vemos un descomunal y brutal Kane, que además de ser en sí mismo, un coloso, a la hora de tratar con sus futuras víctimas no tiene ningún tipo de ética, moral ni miramiento. Así pues, podemos contemplar como utiliza un gancho atado a una cadena, para llevarse víctimas; como golpea a otra contra el techo de un ascensor, dejándose la mitad del cerebro pegado en el mismo; como los zarandea mientras los transporta contra paredes y puertas; como les arranca los ojos; como asfixia a una chica haciéndole tragar el móvil; como los deja caer por un patio de luces o como los aplasta! Algunos pensarán que todo esto es completamente innecesario y es violencia gratuita, pues no, no es gratuita, más bien, es justificada, por que si no, la película, sí que sería un aburrimiento y una estupidez. Pero gracias a toda esta violencia, sangre y ojos, la película nos presenta a un asesino en serie, como hacía tiempo que no se veía uno! Cruel, despiadado y capaz de acojonar al más valiente de los espectadores, a menos que no seas otro wrestler a lo Mickey Rourke de igual tamaño que Glen Jacobs, el Diablo Rojo!

Sólo quiero destacar dos puntos débiles para mí de la peli: uno es horrible e innecesario, y es que Jacob no habla en toda la película, pero cuando lo hace es para cagarla, momento totalmente prescindible. Y otro momento también poco creíble, es cuando Jacob recibe un impacto en la cabeza, le empiezan a salir gusanos de la misma, debido a un impacto de bala, en su primer intento de detención, el poli amputado! Esto no se lo cree nadie, puesto que si tuviéramos tal cantidad de gusanos, tendríamos una necrosis y una gangrena cerebral de 3 pares de cojones, que nos impedirían llevar a cabo, las tan espectaculares muertes que Jacob nos muestra.

Ah! Y no os olvidéis mis corderitos, abrid los ojos, y lavaos los pecados, por que los ojos son las ventanas del alma! Jajajajajajjaja

Esta foto es otra de mis fotos “free-style”, no tiene un “sentido” particular y/o relación con mi vida, en realidad hace rato que tenía la careta de mono y como no se me ocurría mucho, fuí con esta idea.

Lo mejor de todo el asunto, fue que cuando busqué en la wikipedia estos monos, en el artículo había una interpretación que (textualmente) dice lo siguiente:

• Negarse a decir maldades
• Negarse a oler los pedos de su mujer

…Más bizarro que las fotos inclusive!…
