What I see
blindly pleas
what I smell
does compel
me to believe
that all
of consequence
is physical.

What I hear
does endear
what I touch
pulls much
my heart toward
all that
my senses tell
is material.

What I taste
gives feast
what I feel
makes real
to my soul
that all
I consume
only matters.

What blindness!
What deafness!
What blandness!
What madness!

I failed to perceive
the deepest part of me that
reaches beyond
body, soul, and mind
touches eternity and divinity.
It is my awakened spirit.

Un- and/or semi-employment certainly takes one down paths previously untrod.  Having fallen into a role where I am not, lamentably, capturing Cary Grant’s heart as a feisty, independent, sharp-nosed, story-busting journalist with a cache of quick ripostes (Hollywood shure don’t make dames like Hildy Johnson anymore!) but rather acting as an assistant to a retired businessman (but no less feisty, sharp-nosed and quick-witted as Hildy, I would like to think!), I have:

• sat in the driver’s seat of a Jaguar (but, unfortunately, did not take it anywhere);
• been called a ‘whore’ as I walked to work, by a young schoolboy who was, I suspect, attempting to impress his pimply friends with his knowledge about such grown-up matters;
• drunk my fill and more of a stunning previously unseen panorama of Melbourne city (which I hope to capture soon);
• looked high and low around the city’s public transport system for a missing bag of the businessman’s friend;
• been privy to a wonderful cache of old photos taken by a gwai lo (trans. westerner) travelling through China during the 1960s; and
• realised I will never best a sturdy Romanian woman in a contest of strength.

And re-familiarised myself with Melbourne, of course.

The space shuttle Atlantis and the International Space Station are separately flying around the Earth until Friday, and they can be seen as a pair of bright lights in the sky at certain times over the next few days.

 

Weather permitting, the orbiting objects should be visible to the naked eye throughout the United States and Canada, according toSpaceWeather.com. It’s a special opportunity to see the two largest man-made objects in the sky at once.

 

Atlantis undocked from the space station early Wednesday, ending a week-long stay to supply the outpost with spare parts. The shuttle is scheduled to land at Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Fla. on Friday morning at 9:44 a.m. EST (1444 GMT).

The brazilian singer and performer starts at the 70’s and today still giving a amazing show as you can see.

His voice is powerful and his presence breath taking.

Also he is a very shy gentleman that speaks very low.

Her captivating vocals fit this tune beautifully, and the bare echoes of the piano mirror the echoes of doubt in a woman’s mind as she asks: “Will you still love me tomorrow?”

Australian natives birds have been bedeviling my early morning slumber with their raucous feeding chirps, squawks, twitters and in the case of the kookaburra, maniacal cackles. But when you’re up and about and you stumble upon them as you’re going about your daily business, boy, are they something to look at.
