Today, 28th March 2009, I filled 21 years old.

20 was probably the most important year in my life so far, in this year I made the decision to start my own path through life, I decided to do what I want with my life and not what people want me to do.

I will be having my birthday party with John (just like last year) next Saturday, let’s hope it will be a good party.

When I made my blog I was to lazy to write the about me page, here is what I have written:

I’m a 20 years old amigo, doing my time (my studies) in Sweden, I enjoy boxing, skateboarding, swimming and surfing the internet in my free time.

Now that I had some free time with nothing to do I decided to update it and add more details and make it more personal as it should be, here is how it looks now:

My name is Nizar Selander, I’m a 20 years old guy, half Swedish half Jordanian, studying my last year at the IB diploma programme in Sweden, looking forwards to study engineering in UK.

I enjoy sports and exercising a lot, I enjoy mostly boxing (have been boxing since the 9th grade but not continusly), swimming, skateboarding, football and working out at the gym.

I enjoy music a lot, I enjoy Trance, techno, elctro, house and lately satrted listning to Reggae music, I’m fine with pop, rap and hiphop, I don’t listen to them a lot when I’m at home or on my iPod, but I don’t mind listning to them and usually I enjoy them when there is a good company, not many of my friends enjoy the smae music taste I do so it’s not very often that I get to choose what songs to play at a party.

I love partying, rave parties are my favorite, I find custume parties really fun too.

I enjoy watching movies and tv shows a lot, I can watch all kinds of movies but I prefer action, thriller and comedy movies, least favorite are scince fiction movies, it’s not quite often that I enjoy them, Tv shows that I am following right now are Prison Break, Heroes and Lost, other tv shows that I enjoy watching but do not follow are Two and a half men, scrubs, family guy.

I enjoy movie nights a lot, it is allways more fun to watch a movie with some friends.

I do some web designing, web hosting and graphics designing, I am not that profesional, but I am pretty good for a guy who haven’t studied or taken any curses, and learnt everything by himself.

I like pets, I have a black cat called Bagheera, named it after the panther from the jungle book, planning to buy another pet in the comming few weeks, this time a reptile, either a Central Bearded Dragon or a Boa constrictor.

Other things that I like to do, besides bloggong and surfing the web are smoking waterpipe (Nargeela), play cards, billiard, bowling, sun bathing (tanning).

DN har idag en större förståelse av politiken i Eskilstuna än Alex Voronov trots att. eller är det tack vare att Alex bor i Eskilstuna och Peter bor nån annanstans. Jag antar att det känns lite bittert för en tidigare Sovjetmedborgare och anti socialist att trots J.A. Selanders efterträdares idoga tjat så förstår inte Eskilstunaborna sitt bästa och röstar som tidningen tycker vore lämpligt. Sanningen är nog att E-Kurirens behov att leva upp till sin myt om att vara värdig Selanders arv tvingar den att i ren desperation söka diktatorer och antidemokrater bland helt vanliga svenska demokratiskt valda kommunalråd. Den politiska redaktionen kan utan att blinka utan problem hävda att majoritetn är odemokratisk den ena dagen som inte förankrar allt hos oppositionen för att en annan dag kritisera Eskilstuna Energi och Miljös styrelseordförande som gjorde just det när VDn för EEM fick sparken. Sanningen är att sedan politiske redaktören blev ensam på sin redaktion har omdömet grumlats, uppenbarligen har Ida Thulins avgång haft en stor betydelse för redaktionens förmåga att utvärdera sina egna resonemang och teorier. Kanske är det dax för även den politiske redaktören att prova sina vingar någon annanstans på samma sätt som den grävande journalisten gjorde, det är nyttigt med miljöombyte och jag tror att till exempel Täby kommun kunde behöva få en granskande blick av en “demokratins banerförare” som redaktören en gång kallades av en supporter.

Här nedan kommer min kommentar till Voronov lördag idag.

“Veckans stora nyhet som Voronov kallar Eskilstuna Kurirens artiklar om Hans Ekström är så som han själv i sin text visar ingen nyhet. Hans Ekström har under många år som alla skickliga ledare delegerat mycket till sina kommunalrådskollegor. Under föregående mandatperiod fick Jörgen Danielsson ta hand om en stor del av det löpande interna arbetet i kommunledningen och under nuvarande mandatperiod har Jimmy Jansson förtjänstfullt tagit hand om en stor del av arbetet. Det här har som sagt både redaktören och opposition mer än väl vetat om, möjligen var det en nyhet för grävare Ståhle eftersom han var tvungen att studera kommunens arkiv för att uppdaga det.

Redaktör Voronov tar den här nyheten till avstamp för att avslöja “Myten om ledarskapet (s)” men den säger minst lika mycket om Eskilstuna Kurirens behov av att odla sin myt som J.A. Selanders efterträdare som bålverk mot odemokratiska metoder och förtryck. Precis som tidigare kommentator visar med DN länken så kan vi notera att frågan sett från en annan horisont ses på ett helt annat sätt än redaktören ständiga tjat om tystnad och odemokratiska metoder. Sanningen är nog att Eskilstuna Kurirens politiska redaktion sett i historiskt perspektiv känner sig alltmer frustrerad att Eskilstunas invånare fortsätter att rösta på S och till stor del på Hans Ekström personligen trots att tidningen med en dåres envishet talar om hur illa skött allt är i vår kommun. Redaktionen har alltså inte lyckats få människor att förstå att vår kommunledning är inkompetent, vilket den ur en Voronovsk definition är med automatik, och då får man ta tillfället i akt när man kan beskylla personen för något istället för att kommentera politiken.”

I have got mixed reactions and comments, 9/10 think that I look better with a shaved head, but 10/10 did not recognise me at all when they first saw me.

Sorry for taking some time to post this, I couldn’t Post this post earlier because I was really tiered plus that I had a lot of cleaning to do after the party.

The Party was great, many people showed up and everybody was in a party mood, the music was good at least most of the time it was, and most importantly everybody had a good time.

Yep,  I am officially 20 years old

I am not a teenager any longer, I am a very responsible adult

I just had a small birthday party with my family, I am saving the big birthday party with my friends for the next weekend, mainly because we start our exams this Monday and everybody is stressed out and I don’t expect anyone to be in a party mode right now.

I will post later about being twenty and how it feels to be a responsible adult, because I have some partying to finish right now

As Marilyn (Monroe, not Manson) once sang “We’re having a heatwave, a tropical heatwave” and baby, it is hot in here. My fans are working overtime moving the hot air from one corner of the room to the other but not really sure if that is making things worse or not, and to make matters worse, I have decided to do the Betty Ford thing, so there is not a bubble in the house that can exist outside the bathtub. It’s a dark day in Amsterdam.

It’s just past 1 in the morning and I just finished my last little blog and as the fires of inspiration seem to be surging through my veins, I decided to just keep on bloggin’. I hope I am not breaking some sort of bloggers code by double blogging. If so, someone just let me know and I will whip myself into complete online submission.

I did search “the inflatable mattress” after I posted my blog and guess what? There were exactly 20,400, and mine was on the top of the list! Not only did I get to see myself, but I was at the top and I made such a nice round number! What are the odds?

Well, I have had a few emails from people asking what my new flat is like. Well, it isn’t really that new anymore, as I moved in last September, but I haven’t been the best at sending pictures – well, ok, I haven’t sent any at all. The fact is, my flat is amazing. My building is over 200 years old, although the exact date is unknown and my floors and ceiling beams are all original. It is in a loft-like layout (read large studio) with pretty much a wall of windows at one end, with a Franch Balcony – that meand I have 2 floor-to-ceiling doors that open in with a raining in front of the window, not a real terrace. But I do get direct sun for the bulk of the day, starting with sunrise, so I often plop my bright red Fatboy (brand of beanbag chair/square/thing) in front of it on the weekends, have my yoghurt with meusli, coffee and read whatever book I happen to fancy that day and other times I browse through all the top news of the world according to Vanity Fair. I have one wall that is the brick exterior of the building next door as it was built first and that has all been painted white. The kitchen is small and has lots of stainless steel, which I loved at first, but it as soon as you look at it, it smudges and after I lived here for 30 minutes, I gave up on it.

My flat is located in the very center of Amsterdam, just on the edge of the Jordaan (or garden). I live about 10 minutes walk through the canals to the Anne Frank house. This time of year is perfect in the city. All the boats are out in the canals and I go out often on the little boat of some friends of mine. It always looks about one drop of water away from being submerged, but it does keep us afloat and we keep it loaded with champagne, cheese, pate, olives and other assorted goodies and we boat aimlessly around the canals. In fact, planning on taking it out tomorrow for a spin along the Amstel and out of the city – Hopefully she will be up for the voyage. The boat belongs to two friends of mine who live on a houseboat and when they were on holiday, I and my friends Garad and Adam took it out… All was going great, we got it started and as we are responsible adults, we took the boat first to the get some petrol so we wouldn’t have to get out and push. Once that was done, we called our friend Marco who lived just up the canal from where we were and he came aboard with more drinks. We push away from the edge and then can’t get the engine started. We finally got it going and as soon as it went into gear, it stalled. We repeated the process. We repeated the process again. And again. And again. the whole time drifting to the middle of the canal. The canals here are quite narrow, but when you are in a boat with no engine and no paddle, even the narrowest canal can seem like the South Pacific. The sun was beating down on us, Adam was getting sea sick and, I think heatstroke. Things were getting desperate. To make matters worse, the world cup was in full swing and there was not another boat to be seen anywhere. So, always being one to take charge, I decide to have a quick look at the engine. I popped the cover, looked at it – yep, it all seemed to be in perfect working order – and closed the cover. Adam is moaning and we don’t even have a flare gun. It becomes very clear to Adam, Garad and I that this is all Marco’s fault. The engine worked fine until he came aboard. We thought of throwing him over as a sacrifice to the small craft engine gods when all of a sudden came a boat. Words were exchanged, ropes were thrown and suddenly we were being towed. It was great… Chauferred yachting at it’s finest. I cracked open the bottle of Diet Coke I had been saving for just that occasion (I was scared we might have to start rationing food and beverage), kicked back and left the driving to them. Adam was going green and plaid and I just hoped he would point it overboard. The very nice couple towed us back to the houseboat where we docked the boat, Adam bolted for home and I wrote an apology note for killing the motor. Turns out the engine just needed some cleaning and maintenance (I must say that in my professional opinion, it did look a bit oily when I looked at it) and now she is a happy boat bravely navigating the rough waters of Amsterdam.
