I’m not moving until next month so it’s still too early to pack; but I wanted to clean out my closet and donate clothes and toys to Goodwill. While sorting through old vhs tapes I found this home video of my family from back in the ’80s.

My grandparents look pretty damn sharp. My grandma is amazing when it comes to accessorizing, she’s always giving me her old costume jewelry whenever I go to Selma to visit her.

Before my sister was born my cousins Stephan and Sean were like my brothers.

Pigtails and ribbons were my signature look until kindergarten, then it was braids, braids, braids.

My cousin Madonna was 2 months old, the newest addition to the family, my little sister would be born the following April. In the video I look comfortable holding her, which is funny because when people ask me hold their babies now I get nervous. Infants just seem so fragile to me, I’m worried I’m going to accidentally hurt them.

My aunt Alice is the funniest woman I know, well second to my Granny(my dad’s mom), she is sharp as nails and she has a wonderful infectious laugh. Plus she is a great listener, as I got older and got into arguments with my mom during my precious teen years she never judged me, she just listened.

I’m grateful this video is in good condition because my parents split up for good when I was very young, and watching this video lets me see how my parents were very much in love long, long ago.

It’s bittersweet watching this video because my cousins and I are all grown adults now but not as close as we use to be. My cousin Sean(middle) now has two beautiful sons and lives in Utah.

Stephan has had his personal ups and downs but he has made a positive change in his life which makes me proud of him, Madonna has an adorable little girl and is working her way through school.

I think when you get older Christmas becomes less about presents and decorations and more about your family. I truly love my family, we’re not perfect but I wouldn’t trade them for the world, seriously, I’m not trying to sound like a fucking Hallmark card. Haha.

I spent the holiday at my Grandma’s house in Selma this past Thursday.

That’s my mom sporting a festive sweater. My grandma cooked an amazing feast as always but she had to work that afternoon which was a bummer. So my mom was in charge of getting everyone filled up with turkey and stuffing.

My sister, cousins, and I are all adults now so it was fun seeing the next generation of little ones running and dancing around the backyard.

My only job was to make sure the rolls didn’t burn, mission accomplished.

Next year I need to learn how to make my grandma’s stuffing, there’s no recipe she measures everything by sight and taste. It’s a delicious southern style stuffing that everyone in my family loves!

After eating I chilled out in the front yard to check out my cousin Stefan’s latest project, he takes old cars repairs them, and then sells them. I believe this is a 76 Buick Regal.

I liked the red interior, it reminded me of the Pontiac my grandma use to own that I loved as a kid. It was the loaner car in the family after my grandma upgraded to a new car. So when my mom was without a car we use drive around the big ole’ red car, as I use to call it.

My mom was checking out his other project, I think it was a Lexus.

It was a good Thanksgiving, but I did miss my sis, auntie, other cousin who resides in Utah, and my grandma.

Selma älskar att komma tillbaka till området där hon är född och uppvuxen. Hon liksom spritter i hela kroppen när hon kommer dit och hon skuttar fram på de små korta Jack Russell benen.

Så idag bylsade vi på oss rejält och begav oss dit. Sen hängde vi med Selmas gamla boyfriend Sammie i två timmar.

En nöjd och trött hund snusar nu i soffan på sin sammetskudde.

So David and I are working at Starbucks this afternoon (I know, I know, I work entirely too much) because we wanted get up some blogs and photos on Queer Bakersfield from their Pride celebration yesterday.  We’ve been hanging out at the Fig Garden Starbucks lately because a few our favorite things are here:  Chipotle, Applebee’s, and Banana Republic!  Any way, so when we got here I saw something that you don’t see just anyway so I snapped a photo with my handy, dandy magic phone.

Mamma och Thomas bjöd på middag denna söndag och som vanligt var det ljuvligt homas hade gjort en köttgryta med rödvis, sidfläsk, lök och kantareller. Lea var på ett strålande humör och dansade och spexade med sin älskade Mojja. Selma fick också vara med på ett hörn. Tjing.

Jag har insett att det var länge sen jag skrev här i bloggen. Sen Selma kom in i mitt liv så fylls dagarna och det blir inte att jag prioriterar att sitta framför datorn så mycket. På tal om det är det fantastiskt att vara mamma! Att man kan älska någon med en sån obeskrivlig kärlek är något som jag tror man måste uppleva för att förstå – jag kunde i alla fall inte förstå det innan. Selma växer varje dag och har snart vuxit ur sin första storlek. Hon håller huvudet ganska stadigt och ler mycket =). Hon är verkligen världens sötaste i mina ögon!

Dagarna fylls av mys med Selma, blöjbyten, matning – och då Selma sover försöker jag passa på att hinna med lite saker jag tycker är roligt. Mycket pyssel är det nu. Har tänkt att vara med på Café Deeds julmarknad i år (i Örebro) och tillverkningen av vetekuddar, julgranspynt och annat smått och gott är i full gång! Mycket fika blir det när man är mammaledig, man har liksom tid att baka goda kakor! Idag ska jag till exempel inviga min glassmaskin. Jag fick den som premie när jag jag sålde jultidningar någon gång i mellanstadiet. Sen dess har den luggit nerpackad i en kartong. Men idag ska den få se dagens ljus, jag har köpt ingridienser så att jag kan göra vit choklad-glass. Mums! Imorgon ska vi köpa turkiska peber och polkagrisgodis för att göra ytterligare ett par glassmaker. Hoppas det blir gott! Det tror jag!

Nåväl, det var allt för idag. Snart kommer det inlägg om mitt pyssel inför julmarknaden och inte minst om den kommande underbara, fantastiska händelsen som inträffar i början av nästa år – nämligen melodifestivalen 2010!
