“Whew~ It wasn’t so bad at all, I guess.” Sooyeon mumbled to herself and stuck out her tongue.

“Yeah of course. Sonata was cheering us on! Omg I’m so so so tired. I seriously think I need a massage. Massage parlour anyone?” Minjung asked, with those big kitty eyes of hers, and looked at TaeEun, who was murmuring to herself. (Words like eye bags and massage and too were heard. It seemed to be a question.)

After Music Core….

The girls headed to the grocery store, as their manager promised them to let them hold a mini-party for their hot debut. Of course, Manager Oppa had to pay for it. ;P. Clad in hoodies and geeky glasses (all except for Hyungeun and Sooyeon, for the geeky glasses that is.); they entered the supermarket and split into two teams. Kyuri and Minjung and Yoomi; Sooyeon and Hyungeun and TaeEun. Well, being the fun-loving girls they are, they played a game in the supermarket.

INSTRUCTIONS:

The first team to buy all the things on the list with a budget of 150,000won wins. The losing team has to do whatever the winning team tells them to.

“OUR TEAM SHALL BE CALLED THE LOUD TEAM!!” Kyuri shouted into poor TaeEun’s ears.

“Ours will be called the normal team.” Hyungeun said calmly.

Get set, 1, 2, 3, GO!!

The two teams set off in a hurry to get all the things they needed. Sooyeon scanned through the list and ran for the ramen section after telling Hyungeun and TaeEun to search for luncheon meat and gloves. Kyuri hopped over to the video games section and stared hardly at the Star Craft Game that was on sale. Minjung rolled her eyes and instructed Yoomi to get a packet of cereal and a bunch of grapes, while she headed for the ice cream section to get a tub of strawberry cheesecake ice cream and green tea ice cream.

In fifteen minutes, the two teams had practically gotten everything on the list and rushed to the cashier. The LOUD TEAM’S total bill was 153,580won. The normal team’s total bill was 148,820won. “ASSA!! We won! Gimme a five!!”

“Now, let’s discuss about the forfeits….”

MEANWHILE…

“If only you stopped looking at the Star Craft Video Game! I know exactly what and who you are thinking of, but UGH!” Minjung was reprimanding Kyuri and Yoomi was looking at her reflection in a glass door.

“I’m sorry. It’s just so hard to resist, you know? You would have done the same if you had seen the Loving You A Thousand Times drama DVD.” Kyuri shot back.

*Clapping sounds* “Okay. The forfeit has been decided. Yoomi, you shall make a Jeong Juri face in the mirror behind you while singing I Need You. Minjung, you shall go up to the cheese section and say “I love you a thousand times, my pretty little cheese.” To a packet of cheese. Kyuri, you are to keep your mouth shut and not say anything for 15minutes. There, it’s not to hard right?” Sooyeon smiled at the LOUD TEAM.

After 15minutes of embarrassment, the LOUD TEAM came back with red faces (be it shocked, embarrassed, or frustration).

“It’s good that we took snapshots of what you three did.” Hyungeun giggled while looking at her phone.

“Yeah, it was totally hilarious. HAHAHAHAAHAHA!” TaeEun was almost laughing her head off.

Back at the dorm…

“Tomorrow, you six will go to the KBS studio to take part in the recording of the Star Golden Bell show. Be sure not to talk too much irrelevant stuff and make yourself look too hyper, Kyuri. Hyungeun, practice your dance thing you have been working on. You will show it on the show tomorrow. Most importantly, since you girls are all from foreign countries, if you don’t understand anything, smile politely and raise your hand and tell the MCs that you do not understand.”

“네. 알겠습니다.”

“OMG OMG OMG!! AHHHHHHHHH!! I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING!! PINCH ME, SLAP ME ANYTHING!! THIS IS REAL ISN’T IT? AHHHHHHH!!!” Kyuri was freaking out in the waiting room of MBC, before Serenade’s live debut on MBC’s Music Core.

“Calm down seriously Kyuri. You’re so exaggerating. And you, Sooyeon, please stop feeling nervous. Your cold sweat is spoiling your makeup. Now the makeup artist has to redo it. Go redo your makeup now. Hyungeun, I know you wanna make the best out of this debut, but please stop dancing. You’ve been dancing for 5 hours , and I’m afraid you might strain your muscles. Yoomi, you look just fine, so stop looking at the mirror. TaeEun, are you sure you don’t wanna put more makeup on your eyebags?” Minjung commanded the members around. Not that all of them listened anyway.

“Serenade, you’re up in 10 minutes, after Mighty Mouth. Get ready.”

“Well, we can’t keep worrying right?” Sooyeon asked worriedly (-.-) while trying to wipe off the cold liquid on her clammy palms as the makeup Unni puffed more powder on her face.

“Wow, my eyebags actually look good under the makeup, they look more natural now. YAY!! Hey look, Yoomi-ah, my eyebags look nicer!! Kyuri!! Wheeeee~”

“OMG THEY DO LOOK BETTER!!! YOU MAKE ME WANNA HAVE EYEBAGS NOW!! Hmph~”

Minjung rolled her eyes. Her members were just the way they were when they were gonna perform. Kyuri, the crazy one. Sooyeon, the nervous one. Hyungeun, the practise-makes-perfect one. Yoomi, the self-conscious one. TaeEun, the eyebags-conscious one. And of course, herself, the serious one. Last Friday’s Music Bank was the start of their debut.  Serenaders (Sonata – FANCLUB DUHH) cheered for Serenade, making the girls swell with overwhelm gratitude.

NOW, they were facing another live performance, with their debut song, 널 필요해. (I Need You) So far it was the 13^th on the charts, and SMTown and their sunbaes were proud of them for it.

“Next up, we have an amazing performance prepared for all of you by the hot new girl group, Serenade. And yes, I bet Sonata needs them, so here they are!! SERENADE!!”

TIME TO FACE THE WORLD.

Blogging from bed, what could be more leisurely?

Blogging from bed within arms reach of a cup of tea or a cream soda. Leisure at its finest.

Anyway, the morning and now afternoon has brought nothing in the way of activity from myself. ‘Ungry progresses, as I think I may have finally found us a woman for the female lead role. Yes, she has Uni commitments, but I think if we go over the shooting script with her we can come to some sort of compromise with regards to timing. Film, a never-precise art.

As LeftHanded edges closer to being born and having two films under its banner, the task now sets about us screenwriter folk to come up with more. Al and Macina have their writer credits in the works, and I feel its time for me to churn out my own short piece. I have one that I could quite happily adapt, if it weren’t so comprehensively shite. I think I need something new, a quaint little drama of some sort, something I can write, feel happy with, and then let someone else play with. Directing my own work? Not sure yet. Would rather sit back for now and see what someone else does with it. Maybe if I do another one next term. Hell, if ‘Ungry and Serenade are finished by Christmas, I do reckon most of us will be spending the entirety of 2010 making short movies. It’s been that much fun in the running up to the start of production.

Work, as always are delightfully annoying. Another 12 hour shift looms, presumably unless I can complete a couple of training booklets. Now, call me paranoid, but surely training booklets should be completed before you even start working for a company? Strange that this didn’t occur.

In other work related news, 2012 opened last night. I stood in there doing screen checks a few times, and from what little I managed to catch of that film, it looks shit. I have no idea why its selling out (most likely because people are buying the way the Mayan calendar malarky has been utterly misconstrued by an information-saturated Western society) but its really just The Day After Tomorrow Part 2.

Right, getting up would be a fantastic idea, seeing as I start work in five hours. Soup would be a clever idea. Better than a walk to Asda in this weather.

I love music. That’s just the way I am. I’ve loved it since I was little, often being yelled at for having the radio turned up to loud. But I didn’t mind the yelling. I blocked it out, preferring to listen to the music playing inside my own mind.

I always listen to music, or really, any type of sound. I hate the silence; it suffocates me. I even went so far as to tie bells to the end of my sleeves and wristbands, just so I wouldn’t have to listen to that terrible quiet.

I remember, my brother use to love the sound of bells. Every time I would get home, whether it be from school or a friends house or whatever, he would always come running, having been listening for the bells. I’m not quiet sure why he liked them so much. Perhaps it’s because he has never seen anyone do something like that before, wearing bells on their clothes, that is. Or maybe he just hated the silence as much as I do.

That’s why, even though by now I’m much to old to be wearing such clothing, every time I visit my brother’s grave, I wear my bells. I sit down on the hard grass and move my arms back and forth, listening to the ringing off the bells. It gives me some comfort.

I go to his grave a lot. I ring my bells a lot. I’m hoping that maybe, just maybe, he’ll come running, like he use to do. Wouldn’t the reunion be so touching? I think it would be. So I’ve been ringing the bell. I’ve been waiting for him to come.

It’s been years.

I died a long time ago. It was my own weakness that killed me, my own inability to accept what has happened and what is to come. I had been afraid. So I died.

I think my “soul” has been left behind. I think I could be described as a “ghost,” though I don’t really like the term. The truth is, I’m not really sure what I am. I exist in some sort of vague consciousness, something invisible. I don’t make noise as I float across the grounds that I use to walk on. That is, except for my bells. They make noise; they ring out, even louder then before. They save me from the silence that I hate.

I am watching my closest friend die at the moment. She has been battling disease for a long time; I’m not surprised that she doesn’t have any more fight left in her. If I were alive, I would be standing beside her bed, gently stroking her forehead. But I am not. So instead, I move my arms. I play a sweet little melody with my bells. I’m not quite sure she can hear them though.

I wonder what she is seeing right now. Is she seeing the sad faces of her friends and family members staring down at her? Is she seeing a light at the end of the tunnel? Is she seeing me? I wonder if her soul is leaving her body. If it is, I hope I find her. I hope I find my brother.

I ring the bell.

As I have mentioned before, of the many limited edition eye shadow collections that Kristen Leigh Bell, of Aromaleigh Mineral Makeup, has created in the past year, the En Pointe collection has been my favorite. Of course, I have many shadows from several of the other L.E collections, and love them, too, but the En Pointe collection speaks to me. The colors are more muted, and there are some gorgeous matte eye shadows. I love the sparkly shadows, but having some more subtle shadows is necessary, too. But these are not boring-subtle, though. Not at all!

When the collection first came out I immediately bought full sizes of three eye shadows, the Serenade, Clara, and Coppelia–I had missed out on full sizes from other L.E collections and that was not going to happen again! Later, I bought the delightful Dulcinea, and some samples, among them, Elegie.

Elegie scared me when I first saw the collection, as it looks very deep, almost black. It is described as follows on the Aromaleigh site:

Elegie: A dark dose of shimmering jewels. Add to other shades to deepen and dramatize, use wet-lined or all-over for a magnificent, glimmering smokey eye.

Anyway, my sample arrived, and I put a swatch on the back of my hand an fell in love–alas, too late to get a full size. I have used it wetlined, as a linter, and has since played with the ample sample in other ways. Elegie has been in several eBay auctions that Miss K has held to benefit the American Cancer Association, but since everyone adores it, the bidding got too rich for my blood.

When Kristen brought the En Pointe L.E eye shadow collection back last week, for a two week engagement, I snapped up a full size within minutes! It arrived over the weekend, and oh my, you must try!

It the jar, it looks like a medium, twinkling, gray. I have it on the back of my hand right now, and the smokey base is almost a blue/black, or a very deep gray, and the myriad of glittering, dazzling, colorful sparks, are like the aurora borealis.

I see blue, green, pink, silver, gold–frankly, it is hard for me to tell, as the colors play off of each other, like a prism, they mix and separate to make all of the colors of the rainbow. If I still had the figure I had in my 20’s and 30’s, I might paint it all over myself to create a glorious holiday dress–but that wouldn’t flatter a woman of my age The little jar of Elegie is so jam packed with eye shadow, that I might just have enough!

Of all of the wonderful, limited edition eye shadow collections that Kristen Leigh Bell, of Aromaleigh Cosmetics and Aromatics, has dreamed up, and created, in the last year, my favorite by far is the En Pointe Collection.  Don’t get me wrong.  I loved all of the other ones, too, especially the Holiday Blast Collection, and the Valentine’s Collection, but the En Pointe Collection just spoke to me–actually, it screamed my name, from the moment that I laid my eyes on it.  This came as no surprise, as Aromaleigh is my favorite mineral makeup company–and my one and only for eye shadows!

During the En Pointe Limited Edition Eye Sadow Collection’s first run, I bought full sizes of several, which I almost never do.  I usually try before I buy, with samples.  I chose to get Serenade, Clara, Calliope, and Dulcinea when the collection was first released.  I adore all of the colors that I own.

I swear Kristen made Serenade just for me, as the matte teal, with the violet iridescence makes my blue eye sparkle and shine.  A look with the neutral, beige Calliope as a highlight color, Serenade, and Clara–a smoky purple with pink and blue iridescence is always a winner, whether I use the Serenade on the lid and Clara in the crease, or the other way around.  The lovely Dulcinea is a purple matte, that truly is very plush!

When I bought the Dulcinea–after I loved the first three that I had bought from the collection, I also ordered samples of other shades, including Elegie, and Glisse.  I wasn’t too sure about either, but wouldn’t you know it, I loved them both–but too late, as the collection was retired before I could snap up a full size of each.  Glisse made a perfect crease color, and thesparkly, black Elegie that scared me so makes a stunning, wet lined, eye liner.  I was so disappointed that I had missed them!

Anyway, that all changed Sunday night at about 11:55 p.m., thanks to the re-release of the En Pointe Collection, and a dandy 31 percent off coupon code for being a Facebook faf.  Not a fan yet?  I urge you to become one, as the specials Aromaleigh offers to Facebook fans are simply wonderful.  Anyway, the code ended at 11:59 p.m., and i got my order for Elegie and Glisse in just under the wire.  I have not gotten them yet, but will review them when I do.

Hurrah! We, Ruse 09, have finally graduated after six years of grueling labour in the camp called James Ruse Agricultural High School. I can safely say these six years have been terribly traumatic (as seen by the Single Ladies dance today), joyful (loved my French and German in junior years) and eye-opening (never thought I’d help AI a cow). I’ve learnt so much from all the friends I’ve made at Ruse and the experiences I’ve shared with them has undoubtedly shaped who I am today.

I mean if I spent six years of my life at another school (let’s not name names), I’m sure I would have turned out to be a very different Bosco Lam. And of course that’s a terrible thought because everyone wants to be like me! “Bosco Bosco Lam I want to be a Bosco Lam”

But I digress. Let’s focus back on today’s graduation assembly! YAEEHH! To start off I’d like to send a big thank you to Nicole and Connie (even though they probably won’t read this). The work these two did in preparation for the assembly was phenomenal!

When I heard about the graduation assembly, I groaned

“Not another assembly! Another S&L event”

Sigh.

So I promised myself I would do as little as possible and try to fly under the radar to give myself a treat since after all, I am technically no longer required to do this sort of thing.

Bad choice.

I find out Sunday night absolutely nothing has been done and that a perfect recipe for disaster was brewing. Sorry, but the group has disintegrated into the sh!ts after Alan left. What kind of sound and lighting group operates a 16 channel mixer with 7 channels broken?! Ergh. Because I feel like being bitchy and selfish I’ll list out all the other problems I had

1)      NO COMPUTER!?! – I’m informed on Sunday night there is no computer. *deep breath deep breath* No computer = no videos or ppts = fail assembly. *deep breath* Thankfully John brought his! Mad props goes out to him.

2)      Crappy lighting – the lights they have now are all whack. I’m sorry but why is the stage still half dark when all the lights are at max?

3)      Crappy spotlighting – I feel like I’m out at sea with the amount of movement I keep seeing. Bloody keep it still!

4)      Filth – the sound desk is filthy  as are the wings and backstage and anywhere remotely S&Lish. Yuck

Ok I’ll stop that rant now. Basically I got very stressed but it turned out ok and everything got done on time. I printed off the prep sheets for awesome Alan and his team and left it in their fragile hands. I had more important things to do – namely find a pink bow for Eddy’s sailor hat to complement my costume. How straight.

Everyone was hard at work practicing their performances during periods 1-3, perfecting their last minute pelvic thrusts/poses/notes/leotards/costumes/whatever. Meanwhile, unbeknownst to me a very sneaky and devious plan was being hatched around me. Hmmph, a very cunning Ms Murphy managed to convince the English faculty to serenade me  at the assembly!

I honestly had no idea this was going to happen! I was in the hall for the whole morning. Even when the teachers went on stage I thought they were doing some massive thank you for Ms Jenns. If you watch the video below, you’ll see I was still madly taking pictures of them coming on stage. Someone even shouted “ARE THEY DOING SINGLE LADIES?” I lolled.

So you can imagine I was quite surprised when Campbell called my name. For long time readers, you’ll understand what happened next for those who have no effing idea what I’m out about, read this. I was in hysterics and giggling like a fat baboon. Never in all my years at Ruse, did I expect to see Mrs Billing or Mason dance or sing. They’re pretty fly dancers for a bunch of people who relish taking the mickey out of their students .

P.s. did anyone notice they were colour coded?! Fluke or deliberate?

When I visited the “Men’s” change room to grab my camera bag I was greeted with possibly the most disturbing sight one could ever encounter. My eyes burned. Inside were a crowd of pubescent boys running around in tight leotards stuffed with ‘half socks’ (B. Tran) prancing proudly around, exhibiting their best assets.

The assembly started and everything went smoothly or semi smoothly. Chris T and Buddha were really good on guitar and banjo! Sim and Winnie were really sweet and I thought it was a touching performance despite Swami yelling inappropriate comments behind me “MAKE OUT MAKE OUT!” Shaun was just crazy on the xylophone, he was quite literally attacking the damn thing! Very fun to watch! The pop lock guys were AMAZING!. I didn’t know Drew could dance so well and Justin was extremely entertaining as always.

Next was the 4 chord song which I missed because I was backstage getting ready. Our time came and yep. I just did my thang.

Gabriel’s video was very well put. I was quite surprised he didn’t use that infamous picture of me running the Cross Country back in year 8, which Simon conveniently uploaded to Facebook. Thanks Simy.

Then it was the Final Rollcall with baby pics . It’s always funny to see people when they were young. We got given a plush ram each too. I swear they cut costs this year! The ram looks more like a toy you’d find in one of those souvenir shops in Chinatown. My brother’s ram was a much nicer quality and looked more like a ram rather than a lump.

NOW I HAVE OFFICIALLY GRADUATED FROM JAMES RUSE AGRICULTURAL HIGH SCHOOL! BYEBYE JAMES RUSE! CAN I GET A WOOT WOOT?

Oh by the way, I took a ton of luvos so enjoy. If your face isn’t here obviously you’re not cool enough to be graced by my awesome luvoing skills with a DLSR. Kiddingzzz. Find me on Wednesday and we’ll take one because I can’t bring my camera tomorrow (Tuesday)

WE HAVE FINISHED WE WE HAVE FINISHED! WE HAVE FINISHED WE WE HAVE FINISHED! But before I finish this blog I want to share with you my vision of how I’m going to turn out at our 10/20/25 year reunion.

So everyone’s already at the venue chatting for a 7am start. I’ll  ring up the organiser at 6:00pm  and say

“Terribly sorry, but I’m going to be late. My inbound flight from Vienna was delayed and I’m still stuck at the airport.

Make a fashionably late entry at 7:30pm. I’ll strut in…*cue slow mo,cameras start flashing like a catwalk* in my impeccable pilots uniform complete with aviators and shiny badges. I take off my captain’s hat with one hand as I walk in, placing it under my opposite arm as I reach out and shake someone’s hand.

Woow!Hey I can dream can’t I? Anyway, Balmoral + Ranch photos will be uploaded in separate blog.

And to finish off my blog, I’ll leave with a warm and fuzzy video. I think I used it in a blog a while back but I don’t care because it’s so fitting!

It was great to edit this full day for Sarah and Keith. Halfway through the reception at the Strong Mansion, Keith surprised Sarah with a serenade. We miked him, and Jason tweaked the audio to turn a decent recording into a beautiful piece. Late summer flowers were blooming, Stone Soup catered the event, with delicious pierogies with rosemary crema. We produced this in association with Love Life Images, which usually means an amazing production. Mary and Elisha shot the photos. We happy with this montage, and we’re excited to edit the whole video.
