Right Wing Pundits and Conservatives are up in arms over a controversial new piece by L.A. Street Artist, SABER. He recently released a video in which he is shown painting a mural of an American Flag that is slowly covered with messages about why the United States really needs Health Care Reform. The video is one of 20 that have made to the final round of the DNC’s “Health Reform Video Challenge” and will be judged by Family Guy’s Seth MacFarlane, Actress Rosario Dawson, Will I. Am of the Black Eyed Peas, Democratic Representative Patrick Murphy of Pennsylvania and the DNC’s chief Tim Kaine.

Nach dem ersten großartigen Family Guy Special Blue Harvest, das A New Hope parodiert, kommt am 22. Dezember endlich der langersehnte zweite Teil. Logischerweise wird The Empire Strikes Back auf’s Korn genommen. Heißen wird der Spaß Something Something Something Darkside. Ihr fragt Euch warum? Darum.

Ahora de que Fox ha cancelado oficialmente a Dollhouse, que podemos esperar a ver en este canal? ¿Qué es lo que queda? Simplemente más shows del “genio de la comedia” Seth MacFarlane… ah y en USA, American Idol. En College Humor sacaron una parodia de los posibles shows que podrían crear. La verdad es que una vez que uno se da cuenta de que todas sus series son igualitas a excepción de que hay un personaje bien raro, pues como que ya uno va viendo de que la televisión nos deja sacar cosas bien fáciles siempre y cuando saquen un chiste bueno por temporada.

Aunque todo parece una broma, si me imagino que saldrían este tipo de programas los domingos.

Descendiente de una familia escocesa, Seth MacFarlane es el creador del mundo representado en Padre de Familia.

Nació en Connecticut (EEUU) en 1973, y tras graduarse en el instituto, estudió en la Escuela de Diseño de Rhode Island, etapa en la que creó su primera animación. Tras empezar con proyectos como Johnny Bravo, pero fue una secuela de su serie La Vida de Larry la que le condujo a firmar un contrato con la Fox, y que le permitió dar cabida a Padre de Familia.

Dibujante, guionista, productor, director y doblador de voces,  un personaje completo que se ha labrado su carrera en el mundo de la televisión y el cine. Como doblador de voces, interpreta a personajes de su serie como Peter, Brian, Stewei, Quagmire o el periodista Tom Tucker, además de variados personajes que pasan por Quahog.

Tras el éxito que le ha supuesto ser el autor de Padre de Familia, Seth MacFarlane ha trabajado en la elaboración de otros proyectos, como American Dad, Clevlan Show, además de aparecer como artista invitado en numerosas series (Las chicas Gilmore, Bones…)

Seth MacFarlane vive conjuntamente su profesión como creador de dibujos y de humorista y su afición a la bebida, que como el mismo bromea, le salvo la vida, pues debería de haber cogido uno de los aviones siniestrados en el 11-S, pero cuenta que la resaca del día anterior consiguió hacerle llegar tarde al aeropuerto. Este afán por el alcohol se ve representado en el personaje de Padre de Familia, Brian, que comparte su forma de pensar y su forma de ser.

The second edition of the Family Guy Star Wars saga has come upon us. The trailer has released today and it appears to be just as up to par as ‘Blue Harvest.’ Great Star Wars references mixed with classic Family Guy comedy come together to bring you entertainment.

In the category of “What the?”, comes the recap of last night’s episode of Fox’s “American Dad!”.

I have to admit that I know virtually nothing about this show other than its inclusion in the Seth MacFarlane portfolio, but Episode 7 of Season 5 begs to be watched.

The episode, titled “My Morning Straightjacket”, has a bizarre storyline centered around the great Louisville band My Morning Jacket.

I won’t even try to provide a recap, but both Spin and MTV have the scoop on this must-see concoction of inspired tribute to a band not necessarily accustomed to primetime exposure.

Thanks to Hulu, you can catch the entire episode (for now) here. 

MMJ fans, at the very least, should appreciate the opportunity to experience the band in any form during its current hiatus.

And everyone else can watch to figure out why Jim James just might be the sun.

If I said that it was funny, nobody would be amazed, because that’s obvious to everybody but Sarah Palin and Il Papa. If I said it was entertaining, I’d get a mixed bag of responses, but most would agree. Today I put to you, ladies and gentlemen, a more difficult argument: That Family Guy – as well as being one of the finest comedies, animated or not, to grace the air – is also a surprisingly moving drama, following in the footsteps of such greats as All In The Family.

One can bring to mind many, many episodes with a moving line, situation, or plot element. Enumerating each one, however, would soon prove repetitious and boring. So instead I shall use as an exemplar the most recent episode, called ‘Jerome Is The New Black’. I hope I won’t give spoilers, but be warned anyway. If you haven’t seen it, hie thyself off to Hulu and do so before reading this. This is not a review.

In this episode, we face issues of latent racism, the cultural bias in our country (and many others) against inter-racial sex, and the conundrum of what to do when someone truly loathes everything you are.

The central theme is the search for a new friend to take Cleveland’s place. When Brian asks to join the group, Peter simply responds that Quagmire hates Brian’s guts.

Brian spends the entire episode trying to get Quagmire to like him. He eventually corners Quagmire, pressing for an explanation, since Quagmire’s feelings are obviously not going to change. What follows is one of the most brutally honest tear-downs of a character’s perceived and objective flaws that I have ever seen.

What’s better, it rang true. The audience is moved not only to hurt with Brian, but to agree with Quagmire, which makes the audience hurt all the more. It was truly impressive, a stunning piece of writing I can only wish I had written first – the best compliment a writer can give.

I will not repeat what Quagmire said here. It is far, far better for you to hear it as part of the narrative whole, and judge for yourselves. I sincerely invite your comments after having done so, so long as they aren’t flames about the series. Whether you like the series isn’t what I’m interested in. Simply put, I want to know what you think of that particular scene – the lines, the acting, and so on. How did it make you feel? was the scene (not the series, not even the episode) good? Why?

Daí, no show “Seth & Alex’s Almost Live Comedy Show”, Seth MacFarlane (criador e dublador do Family Guy) e Alex Borstein (dubladora de Louis no mesmo desenho) resolvem mais uma vez sacanear Marlee, não apenas revivendo ao vivo a gag onde ela liga para o serviço de Cinefone, como também criando um segmento no qual Alex imita Marlee cantando Poker Face.

Seth MacFarlane, o criador de Family Guy (“Uma Família da Pesada”), tem duas coisas que eu admiro: um profundo respeito pela melhor música americana – Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Tony Bennett – e um profundo desrespeito por todo o resto – religião, política, família, a América Profunda, etc.

Música sempre foi um ponto central de Family Guy (que já teve Frank Sinatra Jr. como convidado especial pelo menos duas vezes) e MacFarlane (que também dubla os principais personagens) leva jeito para a coisa, como nesse clipe em que ele canta a música de Cole Porter “You’re Sensational” – que no filme High Society Sinatra cantava para Grace Kelly.

Este episodio de Padre de Familia supone una parodia caricaturesca de la mítica película de George Lucas StarWars, en concreto del Episodio IV, “La Nueva Esperanza”.

En esta versión, los personajes de la serie de Seth MacFarlane encarnan a los mundialmente conocidos Luck Skywalker, Darth Vader, Princesa Leia o Chewbacca.

Chris encarna al personaje de Luck, que recibe un mensaje oculto en el androide R2D2, representado por Clevlan, y siempre acompañado Quagmire, que actúa en el papel de C3PO. En ese mensaje, al igual que en la película original, la Princesa Leia (Lois) pide que la rescaten de la Estrella de la Muerte, la tenebrosa estación espacial del lado oscuro, cuyos malévolos planes están encabezados por Stewei, que como no podía ser de otra manera, hace de Darth Vader.

El capítulo transcurre de acuerdo al guión de la versión original, pero siempre con toques de humor absurdo y con reseñas a la sociedad actual.

Chris es llevado a la cantina por Obi-Wan Kenobi, encarnado por el abuelo que intenta beneficiarse a Cris en algunos capítulos de la serie. En esta cantina se puede ver la clásica imagen de StarWars en la que, con una canción bien conocida por todos de fondo, contratan los servicios de Hans Solo (Peter) y Chewbacca (Brian), tripulantes y dueños del Halcón Milenario.

La historia se desarrolla como la conocemos todos, pero los toques críticos del Seth MacFarlane son dignos de mención.

 Problemas con el sofá

Esto es un absurdo tremendo en el que el autor paraliza la historia real y crea una situación rocambolesca en medio de un escenario de acción y tensión. Es algo que le ha pasado a todo el mundo, algo típico cuando mueves algún mueble y no pasa por la puerta, algo que supone un toque gracioso en una historia como esta.

En esta ocasión, los protagonistas cogen el ascensor para dirigirse a la celda de la Princesa Leia y rescatarla. dentro del ascensor, mientras suben, suena la música de StarWars pero como una típica melodía de ascensor, que no es más que sonido ambiente.

A bordo del Halcón Milenario, las naves del Imperio les siguen y en una de ellas va pilotando un kamikaze japones, digna imagen del piloto de Cero kamikaze de la II Guerra Mundial, incluso con su cinta en la frente.

The number of misspelled celebs named Seth has risen to 3. Seth Rogen is joined by Seth Meyers and Seth MacFarlane, both misspelled in a single Yahoo! TV “Primetime in No Time” blog post:

Sin lugar a dudas es una de las series más revolucionarias de los últimos tiempos. La serie fue creada por Seth MacFarlane, un absoluto genio de los dibujos animados, que dota a su creación de un humor absurdo que la hace tan peculiar y divertida.

La familia Griffin es un auténtico despropósito. El cabeza de familia, Peter, es un barrigudo y divertido personaje que apenas tiene algo de sentido común, holgazán como el que más, se sienta horas delante del televisor o va a beber junto a sus amigos a La Almeja Borracha, bar que frecuenta a diario. Su esposa Lois, una atractiva mujer que proviene de una familia adinerada, ama de casa ejemplar, que saca tiempo de donde sea para atender las necesidades del hogar, es la cabeza elocuente de la familia. Tiene tres hijos, Meg, una adolescente que lucha desaforadamente por ser aceptadaza entre los chicos más selectos de su instituto, es el blanco de todas las mofas y broma, sobre todo cuando es su padre el que la deja en ridículo. El hijo mediano, Chris, es un grandote chico un tanto inepto que apenas tiene amigos y que se vive temeroso de un mono malvado se aloja en su armario. Stewie, es un bebe de un año, que vive obsesionado con la idea de matar a su madre, pero su máxima es conquistar el mundo y someter a la civilización, por lo que se pasa el transcurso de la serie ideando planes diabólicos y creando maquiavelas armas para llevarlos a cabo. Por último esta el perro de la familia, Brian, un erudito que habla y aconseja a Peter en todo momento, ya que son grandes amigos, pero le pierde la bebida.

Junto a todo esto están los amigos de la familia Griffin, Quagmire, un obseso sexual que es piloto de aviones, Clevlan, un negro con un pasado hippie que no hace daño a nadie y que acompaña a Peter en sus tragos en La Almeja, y Joe, un policía que quedó discapacitado tras luchar con el Grinch cuando robaba los regalos de Navidad.

Todos estos personajes y muchos más, crean la vida de la ciudad de Quahog, siempre con una ironía y humor que hacen imprevisibles cualquier capítulo, además de una incesante introducción de figuras famosas y conocidas, siempre con un tono crítico.

Oh, boy, Family Guys Fans, have I got great news for you…and I just couldn’t wait til Monday to tell you all.  Remember back a few years ago when Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane and the team released the Star Wars spoof Blue Harvest?  Well, as spot on and hysertical as it was, after our sides stopped hurting, it left all us FG and SW fans wondering, “when will we see the spoof of episodes V and VI?”.  It seems that time has come to answer the first part of that last question.

The image above is the cover of the soon to be released DVD/Blu-Ray edition of the (what I bet will be legendary) Family Guy spoof entitled “Something, Something, Something Dark Side“.  In the success that was Blue Harvest, I don’t think they could have found better fits for the characters of Family Guy to play the beloved Star Wars characters.  That’s probably the one reason I believe Blue Harvest worked so damn well…that and the pull no punches style of humor that makes the show work.  Anyway, enough yapping…behold the teaser trailer for the Episode V spoof (sorry, the video is a little crappy but you’ll still get the idea).

If you liked that you’re going to love that it will be available for purchase on December 22, 2009…and it will also air (for free) sometime in the Spring.

Lastly, I have two more videos for this post.  For those of you who felt that the trailer felt a little light (probably done so they wouldn’t give too much away up front), this next one features screenshots from the DVD, but beware…a few shots, I think, ruin some of the fun to be had in the spoof…so view at your own risk.  Lastly, for those of you who might not understand the title for this spoof, “Something, Something, Something Dark Side” came from a sequence in an episode of the show…so just like Blue Harvest (which was the was the fake working title used during the shoot for Return of the Jedi and the parody was done in honor of the the 30-year anniversary of Star Wars) everything MacFarlane (that comic genius that he is) does is for a reason.

So what do all of you at home think?  Anyone pretty really extremely excited for this??  I sure am!!…I guess I know what I’m getting for Christmas:)

Well, not anymore, apparently.  As many of you already know, Hulu.com has announced that in 2010 (I know that date seems very futuristic and forever away, but that’s actually next year) they are planning to start charging a subscription fee.  Awesome.  This actually was announced a few weeks ago and I am just now getting around to writing about it, but as I sit here catching up on a show I missed this week online, I ask, what are they thinking?  Do they not make enough money off of the advertisements that they already have all over the site?  Why in the world would I pay to watch the shows on their site that I can watch for free on the networks?  All the new shows are only available on Hulu until they are no longer available on the network sites.  Yeah so they have more old stuff.  Good deal.  That’s not gonna keep me around.

What about you?  Will you pay to keep using Hulu?  Will hysterical commercials with Seth MacFarlane and Alex Baldwin be enough to keep us interested if we have to pay?  Are the old shows there worth a subscription fee?  Anyone know what kind of fee they are thinking?  Will it rival redbox or the failing Blockbuster Movies?  Hmmmm…

So it’s no surprise that I’m biting at the bit waiting for her new album The Fame Monster to release. From the three songs that have leaked/released early already (“Alejandro,” “Dance in the Dark,” and her current single “Bad Romance”), this is going to be one very fun album, and much “deeper” and “darker” than her first.

But in the meantime, I’ve been collecting every conceivable remix of her hits that I can find. Along the way, I’ve also found some very entertaining parodies and covers. Today, we’re going to be checking out one of her biggest hits, “Poker Face.”

Let’s start with South Park. I’ll be the first to admit that the show hasn’t been what it used to be for a long time now, but occasionally, I chime in to a new episode and discover something absolutely amazing. And a few episodes ago, Cartman decided to rock it out to “Poker Face” on Rock Band.

Then we also had Seth MacFarlane (my not-so-secret celebrity crush) and Alex Borstein doing a Marlee Matlin-inspired rendition of “Poker Face” on an “Almost Live” comedy show that aired a week ago on Fox. (My favorite part is when Alex touches the piano mid-song.)

And who can forget Christopher Walken’s take? (This one is more of an acquired taste, really.)

And finally, although not funny, I was delightfully surprised to see Mr. Shaved Hotness, Chris Daughtry, doing an acoustic cover of the song! (If this is the first time you’ve heard an acoustic version of the song, you’ll quickly learn how beautiful this song is melodically.)

I do wonder though if anyone decided to tell Daughtry that “Poker Face” is about bisexuality (while I’m getting it on with you, baby, I’m really thinking about other girls, hence my poker face). So yeah… Changing the pronouns can’t save you, bud. (But it has given millions of gay men fodder for wet dreams.)

Do you recognize any of these people?

The first guy is probably the most recognizable because he’s been on a few sit-coms – Hank Azaria. And some people might recognize the last guy – Seth MacFarlane, as the evil genius behind Family Guy.

What all these people have in common is that they’re all voice actors who’ve provided the voices of many of the animated characters we grew up with or the strange new breed of animated characters populating our televisions these days.

Perhaps some of you saw the little mini-special on Seth MacFarlane the other night. I know Family Guy isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. It’s crude and raw and outrageous and tasteless and seems to have no boundaries, but it’s also brutally funny I think. Sometimes it’s funny in an “ha-ha what a bunch of idiots” way and sometimes it’s funny in an “OMG, I can’t believe they actually said/did that” way.

Either way, I think Seth MacFarlane is very talented and nasty-hot brilliant. He created the show, he writes for the show, he’s the executive producer and he does the voices of Peter, Brian and Stewie. And he sings.

Anyway, I’ve always had a thing for people who could do voices. When I was young I couldn’t get enough of comic impersonators like Rich Little or Frank Gorshin (Whatever happened to comic impersonators anyway? Is that still a job that people do?)

A emissora adiantou seu primetime para às 19h30 para dar conta de tanta programação, e também para exibir o variety ‘Seth & Alex’, que teve queda de 29% em relação ao mesmo horário semana passada, quando a Fox exibiu ‘Family’. A emissora não exibiu ‘The Simpsons’.

A NBC dominou a noite com Dallas Vs. Philadelphia (10.1 milhões e incríveis 7.6 pontos). O pre-jogo também foi muito bem: 12.8 milhões de telespectadores e 4.1 pontos na demo qualificada.

A CBS exibiu empatou com a Fox no segundo lugar, exibindo ‘Amazing Race’ (10.6 milhões e 3.1 pontos), ‘Three Rivers’ (8 milhões e 1.8 ponto) e ‘Cold Case’ (7.8 milhões e 1.6 ponto).

A ABC foi mal: ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ (10.4 milhões e 3.0 pontos) teve queda de 9%, ‘Desperate Housewives’ (13.3 milhões e 4.3 pontos) teve queda de 14% e ‘Brothers & Sisters’ (9.1 milhões e 2.9 pontos) caiu 12%. Foram as menores audiências da temporada para ‘Housewives’ e ‘Brothers’. Apesar disso, ‘Housewives’ foi pela quinta semana seguida, o programa roteirizado melhor colocado na demo qualificada.

Last night, Seth MacFarlane (the man behind “Family Guy”, “American Dad” and “Cleveland Show”) and Alex Bornstein (the voice of Lois) put on “Seth and Alex’s Almost Live Review”, a quasi-live comedy/sketch half-hour show. And it was awful. Dreadful. Horribly not funny. At all.

What went wrong? And no, I’m not just trashing the show because he made fun of deaf people and had Marlee Matlin (who rocks from way back) on stage basically making fun of herself. And no, it’s not because he and Alex B. made fun of the holocaust. Those are the reasons why I love Family Guy, American Dad and Cleveland Show in the first place – because they make fun of everybody in the most insensitive way possible.

First off, the show had no real structure. True, MacFarlane’s style involves a lot of vignettes and randomness, but at least they’re somewhat connected. This made no sense at all. What was the point of doing the special in the first place? What did anything have to do with anything?

Secondly, where was the rest of the cast? Lois really isn’t that funny on the show. It would have probably been cooler to have Adam West on…or have MacFarlane just do a whole episode where the cartoon plays in the backgroudnd while he and the whole cast sit on state and read the script. No songs, no live action commercials. Just Family Guy.

And most importantly…SHAPOOPIE?! Really?!?!?!?!?!? He graced us with Shapoopie?! Really? Not “You’ve Got a lot to See” or “FCC” or “My Drunken Irish Dad”  or “This House is Freakin’ Sweet” or any of the other AMAZING songs we’ve been blessed to hear over the years. I mean, they had a freakin orchestra. Why waste it on Shapoopie?

Thank God he did “Rocket Man”, or the whole show would have been a bust.
