In his book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success, Deepak Chopra explains applicable concepts to help guide us through life in a positive and uplifting way. I have many business books in my library. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success is always on my desk or otherwise close at hand.  When I’m stumped about business, I don’t go to success manuals. I visit  Chopra’s work and use it as my guide.

The Law of Pure Potentiality is explained in chapter one. Chopra says our essential nature is one of pure potentiality, infinite and unbounded, full of possibility brimming with creativity and joy.

How far most of us are from our essential nature. 

We allow circumstances to control us. Instead of using the Self, or “self-referral” to be our compass, we’re controlled by the “objects of experience” included situations, people and things. In this “object referral” state we constantly seek the approval of others. We anticipate a response. We live in fear of that response.  We want to control. We belief we’ll succeed only through intense struggle.

The ultimate power of The Law of Attraction is determined by you.  You can create all the vision boards all the focus wheels and all the desire statements in the world but if you do not have the power of belief behind your words you are just wasting your time. You need to believe that you can all that you want  and according to the bible Mark 11:24 once you believe that it is currently in our lives we know that it is on the way.  When we begin to feel and act that all that we have desired is currently in our life we raise our vibrations.  By raising our vibrations to our desires we are creating a vibrational match for that particular object.  We will not be able to attract our desires until we have created that vibrational match.

If you ever want to have some fun and raise your vibrations while you constantly believe that your desires are currently in your life just do the following;

if you are manifesting a new car- go to the car lot, sit in the car and really resonate with the car.  Notice how good it feels to sit in this car and rub your hands up, down and all across the leather seats.  Play with the radio and look at the fine wood grain.  Run you hand across the wood grain and notice how it feels.  Notice your vibrations while you are doing all of this.  Yes the car salesman may look at you as if you have simply lost your mind but we do not worry about him we are simply in the manifesting process and resonating our vibration for this car with the car.  Run your hand across the nice carpet- hell take it for a test drive and just simply glow as you create your own personal relationship with this car.  Imagine yourself sitting behind the wheel of this car all the time.  Yes it does feel good- admit it.  If you think that it will not just go to the local car lot of your dream car and try this little exercise.

Want money?  Want to be able to spend $5,000.00 per day on anything that you choose?  Well you can.  Go on an internet shopping spree and simply buy all that you wish – just be careful not to hit the pay button.  Using the above exercise as a guide how does it feel to know that you can wake up each day and spend $5000.00 per day on whatever you choose and not have to worry.  Feels good doesn’t it?  Just try this exercise for 10 days.  Create a vibrational match for the money that you desire. 

We are simply in the process of believing that it is already in our possession and as long as we do our part.

I spent this past Sunday with a Woman’s group that I am working with.  The theme for this monthly meeting was “Creating the New You.”  Each lady was asked to bring with her to the meeting one item that she wished to throw in the garbage because it was no longer needed in her life.
It was amazing, fascinating and truly motivating to watch these women discard of particular items.  One lady decided to discard of her red ink pen because of the negativity surrounding the color red, such as big red letters on a piece of paper that states that you have been declined for credit, rejected to participant and let us not forget about the red marks that teachers put on papers that typically signify something you got wrong.  Another lady decided to throw out her wig that she would wear when she would go out “clubbing” because clubbing is no longer a part of her life.  Another chose to discard a pair of pants because they were a size too small and she has now accepted her new size.

It was more than 30 women at this meeting and I was just  blown away by them because they had me thinking about items in my closet, in my heart and in my life that could stand a good permanent “Kicked to the Curb” trip.   I also began to realize how we can at times become so emotionally attached to things and that when they no longer serve a purpose in our life how hard it is for some of us to let go.
I am encouraging each of you to place a comment below stating what it is in your physical, emotional or spiritual closet that you need to find the courage to get rid of.  Let  us work together to continue to create the new you and to spring forward vowing never to fall back again.

I have spent hours and hours not only considering whether karma exists, but also whether I can assess my karmic debt and even more importantly, if I have a debt, how do I know if I have paid it off! It’s not like you get a monthly statement through the post and a summary of charges!

So what is karma anyway? Some definitions will help I suppose, I like these 3 in addition to Dr Chopra’s of course;

Karma moves in two directions. If we act virtuously, the seed we plant
will result in happiness. If we act non-virtuously, suffering results.

“The law of cause and effect, every action creates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind” (Dr Chopra) or put even more simply, “we reap what we sow”.
It is the law of “comes round, goes round”

Dr Chopra personalises the topic and adds that it is concerned with our conscious choice making, as we are infinite makers of choice. He espouses that we become consciously aware of the choices that we make in every moment, which seems like a hell of a lot of work to me! If I have to stand back and consciously assess EVERY decision that I make, whether to be upset if I am offended or flattered if I am complimented, it seems that I will never actually get around to doing anything! If karma is the law that balances our actions, then where will I find time to actually “act” if I am concentrating on how I react to every comment that comes my way?

As usual, he offers me a lifeline, a blade of grass to grasp as I fall off the cliff top.

He continues his introduction by explaining that we have all become “bundles of conditioned reflexes that are constantly triggered by people and circumstance into predictable patterns of behaviour” Oh, I get it now. We react in familiar and predictable ways to outside stimuli without really considering our responses. We feel sub-consciously “duty-bound” to defend our views and to offer our entrenched opinions. If I am insulted by someone I immediately feel upset and offended. If I receive a compliment, I get slightly embarrassed and flattered. These are conditioned reactions and responses no matter how justified we feel in displaying them. His point, I think, is to be aware of our initial response and to “stay our hand” or tongue as it were; to introduce “karma” into even the most mundane of actions. To count to ten (or less, I hope, or I run the risk of looking irresponsive, deaf or dull!) before we add to our karmic debt without consciously “knowing what we are doing”.
Mmmm, be aware of every action? This is going to be a challenge to me as a “heart n my sleeve” chap, a stereotypical defender of the faith; even though most of the time I am not certain what my faith is.

I thought that I would include some of my detailed intentions here for the world to see. Thanks in advance for your time in reading this.

This is my life. I wake myself up each morning with my internal alarm clock. Most mornings I choose to get up early because if I choose not to leave my house this early I don’t. Mario has always been great with making sure that the kids are up for school in the morning. I love him so much! My days consist of getting a morning drink, non alcoholic of course. Then I get on my computer to start writing my blogs. I do have to get in Facebook as well. I enjoy playing Mafia Wars and sorority life on Facebook as well as networking with my friends. Mario has been up for a while already and is sitting at his desk looking over our online business profits and managing the “books” for us. I he prints me out a forecast and copies of all the accounting so that I am in the loop. I will ask him questions only if there is something there that I do not understand or would like extra clarity on. We both have equal access to all accounts and 100% trust each other and I am so grateful for our relationship. I am making on average $100,000 per year from my online ventures. Mario is averaging the same amount from his online business ventures as well. We own a house flipping business as well. We generally make any where in between $250,000 and $500,000 per year from this business. This is after all overhead costs are deducted. Additionally we own real-estate; there are multiple properties that generate alternate income for us that bring in about another $200,000 per year. Yeah, we do pretty well. We have a home that is over 6,000 square feet. We have a pool, Jacuzzi, and theater. Mario has his dream truck, Ford f-150 2011 and I have my Lincoln Navigator and Mercedes CLS 550. The kids are in so many activities that our schedules have to be placed on the fridge and in our office. We travel a decent amount of the time to where ever we choose, with or without the kids. Success could be defined as the ‘Continual Expansion of Happiness and the progressive realization of worthy goals’, therefore Success can be seen as the ‘ability to fulfill desires with effortless ease’

Law 1 – Law of Pure Potentiality

The source of all creation is pure consciousness…pure potentiality seeking expression from the unmanifest to the manifest. And when we realize that our true Self is one of pure potentiality, we align with the power that manifests everything in the universe.

Law 2 – Law of Giving and Receiving

The universe operates through dynamic exchange…giving and receiving are different aspects of the flow of energy in the universe. And in our willingness to give that which we seek, we keep the abundance of the universe circulating in our lives.

Give something to everyone you meet e.g. not necessarily money, can be gift, compliment, or silent blessing or prayer. Be open to receive from others. Gratefully Receive gifts, nature, sunlight, snow etc.
Make commitment to Circulate, caring, appreciating and loving

Law 3 – Law of Karma

Every action generates a force of energy that returns to us in like kind…what we sow is what we reap. And when we choose actions that bring happiness and success to others, the fruit of our karma is happiness and success.

Witness Choices in each moment – fully conscious / aware in the moment Evaluate Consequences of your choices – will choice bring happiness to those around me Listen with your Heart -ask your heart for guidance – be guided – look for feeling of comfort / discomfort

Law 4 – Law of least effort

Nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease…with care freeness, harmony, and love. And when we harness the forces of harmony, joy, and love, we create success and good fortune with effortless ease.
Practice Acceptance – accept people as they are – know that this moment is as it is supposed to be.

Take Responsibility for actions, not blaming others/ things Have your awareness in Defenselessness – no need to persuade others – don’t be attached rigidly to one point of view

Law 5 – Law of Intention and desire

Inherent in every intention and desire is the mechanics for its fulfillment…intention and desire in the field of pure potentiality, have infinite organizing power. And when we introduce an intention in the fertile ground of pure potentiality, we put this infinite organizing power to work for us.

Present Moment Awareness – slip into silence List Desires – keep them to yourself Release your desires to the Universe – relinquishing attachment and outcome

Law 6 – Law of detachment

In detachment lies the wisdom of uncertainty…in the wisdom of uncertainty lies the freedom from our past, from the known, which is the prison of past conditioning. And in our willingness to step into the unknown, the field of all possibilities, we surrender ourselves to the creative mind that orchestrates the dance of the universe.

Commit self to Detached Involvement – no rigid or forced solutions Wisdom of Uncertainty leads to freedom -
Open to Infinite Possibilities of choices and outcomes

Law 7 – Law of Dharma

Everyone has a purpose in life…a unique or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.

I want to share with you a few lines from Deepak Chopra’s book  “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success”  ——– 

“Every action is a karmic episode because action generates memory, memory generates desire, and desire generates action again. As long as karma is both for you and for those around you then the fruit of karma will be happiness and success.

Experience the Law of Karma in this way:

1. Witness the choices you make in every moment. The best way to prepare for any moment in the future is to be fully conscious in the present.

2. Whenever you make a choice, ask yourself two questions: “What are the consequences of this choice?” and “Will this choice bring happiness to me and to those who are affected by this choice?”

3. Ask your heart for guidance, and be guided by its message of comfort or discomfort. If the choice feels comfortable, go ahead with that choice. If the choice feels uncomfortable, then don’t make that choice.”

I hope you like this as much as I do !!!

Two of the most influential writers and speakers of my time, and who have inspired my life is Dr Deepak Chopra and Dr Wayne Dyer.     I had the absolute privilege of attending a seminar in Sydney some 20 years ago now and this was the beginning of the rest of my life.  So profoundly moved was I for having heard them both speak, that I walked out of the seminar transformed.  I cannot  describe it any other way.

One of  my more  favourite books that Dr Chopra wrote  is ” Seven Spiritual Laws of Success”.  In the chapter The Law of Pure Potentiality, Dr Chopra suggest practicing silence periodically to experience this Law of Pure Potentiality.  He offers meditation, ideally 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening to experience this field of pure silence and pure awareness.  This is where he says ” is the field of infinite correlations, the field of infinite organizing power, the ultimate ground of creation where everything is inseparably connected with everything else”.

It is through meditation, going within to find this silent space, a space that Dr W Dyer also refers to it as ‘the gap’- that place between thoughts that you will find absolute bliss and connection with our source.  In the Bible it is expressed as: ” Be still, and know that I am God” .

It’s in that silent space between your thoughts that  we find stillness and we tap into our creativity.  However Dr Chopra suggests that in order to find that connection to the field of pure potentiality we need to practice non-judgement.  this is where we are constantly judging things as right or wrong or good or bad.  This creates what Dr Chopra calls ” internal dialogue”.

Dr Wayne Dyer also peaks about meditating and its purpose is to get into the gap where we enter that sacred space that we know as the unlimited power of our Source- the place that takes us to “that awareness”.

In his book  Getting In the Gap Dr Dyer says ” meditating is a way of quieting our chatterbox thoughts and swimming below the surface.  This is where we can be still and know God”.  He mentions that we have about 60,000 thoughts every day so it would be almost impossible to find that space between our thoughts    ’the gap’ during our waking hours.  So in order to find that silent space – the gap – to connect to our Source- to find the “place of pure potentiality” as Dr Chopra puts it or “the gap that the magic and the infinite possibilites await us” as Dr Dyer writes, we must learn to meditate. 

It is through the practice of meditation that takes us to that ‘gap’ between our thoughts to make conscious contact with our Source  that we find God.

I remember in my Buddhist meditation class back in NYC in October, Jack Kornfield said that in Buddhism we have the same type of mistake or experience over and over because we’re still needing to work through it, to learn something new, to take away a new idea or strength or growth from it. I believe that to be true. Because I think often we go through the same type of experience and wonder, “why am I still dealing with this or going through this?” it’s because we need to learn something new. Even if it’s just the strength this time to say no and walk away from it and the cycle.

But walking away is scary sometimes. It’s safe to keep repeating our history. It’s bold and exciting, but also a little terrifying, to step out into the dark of a new experience or a new mindset or a new strength. So today’s quote is from Deepak Chopra’s book The Seven Spiritual Laws for Success. I hope it motivates and inspires you to make the right decisions – the best ones for you- and to explore new possibilities.

“Accept uncertainty as an essential part of your experience. Freedom from our past lies in the wisdom of uncertainty. With out it life is just the repetition of outworn memories. There’s no evolution in that.”

Law of Giving

Giving does not mean you have to give out material things to people. It represents a kind gesture to someone. You can give a smile or a prayer. Some people like to give flowers or a card. I like to give a complement when least expected. For example. The other day my husband and myself saw a older woman in her 80′s at the supermarket. We thought she was so beautiful. The type of beauty from the 1930′s . She had her hair done and full make up. I thought to myself , Why waste that thought without sharing it. So I told her how we felt. Well I think it made her whole month. She couldn’t believe that we thought she was that pretty. She left the supermarket with the biggest smile, and so did we. 

The gifts of caring , attention, affection, And appreciation are some of the most precious gifts you can give a person. They don’t even cost you any money. And these types of gifts are priceless. What you say or do for someone can inspire them to change their lives.

2nd Annual Plugra Magnifique Recipe Contest

Tonight I entered four recipes (Surf and Turf Grill Butter, Hibachi Butter, Bleu Anjou Butter, and Comfort Butter) to The 2nd Annual Plugra Magnifique Recipe Contest for Compound Butter. Notification for this contest is September 15, 2008. I am excited about this one. My husband and I were throwing some ideas around. I decided on creating a compound for grilling. I was sitting at my desk when I said we need to get a ribeye from the store. With that  someone knocked on my door selling steaks, I about fell over…

Now the last time that happened was maybe 5 years ago, no one ever knocks on my door especially at 8pm. Many years ago I used to sell steaks off a truck (there I go being practical) to earn extra money during a hard spell, so I bought a box of rib eye from him, and Thanked God for the message.

It is written by Deepak Chopra in “Seven spiritual laws of success” that if you are doing what you should be doing  (Your Talent, Your Dharma: special purpose in life) then will you prosper, then you are in your field of potentiality………This is where the coincidences happen, Support from God, the universe, your higher power.

I am also reminded these days of what my Godmother said to me when I was Seventeen and Cocktailing…”Julia, the biggest sin is to not use your God given talents”. I thought back then I needed to be practical and earn a living not dick around for $6.00/hr as some apprentice in an advertising firm in Manhattan (which I was offered, but that’s another story).

I now know

“Practical is a distraction that gets in the way of your dreams, goals, vision, the life you were meant to prosper from”.

So where did I come up with this ”Quote” that is all over the Internet these days?

One night back in April I was walking in a parking lot towards my Mini-Van (Triplets you know)and I got a whiff of Jasmine and felt a pleasant warm breeze on my face. I looked at the sky and the days were getting longer. I could feel Easter coming…ahhhh Spring. I then got a vision of James, I, and our Triplet daughters on a sailboat on the water of the Inter-coastal of Florida, living the ideal life…Laughing and having fun. I then thought, what was I waiting for? I am the most talented person I know, and I hear that from all who know me. So why am I  not experiencing financial freedom yet? Then the question came…

“Why am I putting off my inevitable success?”

I cried back in 1987 when I heard Oprah say to Barbara Walters in an interview, “I always knew I was born for greatness”. I cried, because I know too. Now I just got to do something about it! So I went into overdrive back in April and haven’t looked back. Now I know success is all relative, and so is financial freedom. However I GET TO push the bar…and remember to BE not just DO…Then I shall HAVE. Remember do not be afraid of your greatness, do not be afraid to shine. I remind you of a beautiful poem by Marianne Williamson

This week we’ve been looking at Deepak Chopra’s “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.” We’ve learned about the Law of Pure Potentiality, the Law of Giving and Receiving, The Law of Karma and the Law of Least Effort. Today should be a wrap up of these four laws for you and next week we’ll continue on with the final three spiritual laws. I hope you’ve taken time each day to integrate them into your life. I’ve been trying to practice some of them daily myself. This morning I noticed an inordinate amount of people out walking who cheerfully and completely met my gaze and said “Good Morning.” I think that’s a good example of the Law of Giving and Receiving because it honestly cheered me up. It’s a good example of a non-monetary gift you can give, and we are all rich enough to give the gifts of love, kindness, our time, our affection and our attention to others.

I’ll leave you with an inspirational thought and a wish for a safe and happy Labor Day Weekend – Yay!
