Much like Miley Cyrus’ cameo in the sequel to “Sex and the City: The Movie” was once one a big mystery, we’ve now unearthed details about another thespian’s (this time it’s an Academy Award winner!) guest stint.

In October, People reported that Penelope Cruz would be appearing in the film (which is slated to be released in 2010) as a banker, and while we can’t exactly confirm if her financial abilities are going to be highlighted, we can shed more light on the logistics behind her part. “I’m in it for very, very little time,” she told MTV News during a press event for her next film “Nine.” “It’s a collaboration that I did because I am a huge fan of the show and the movie and Sarah Jessica Parker.”

Not quite satisfied with that tiny amount of information, we tried to get her to spill some more. “They won’t let me say who I am, but I don’t play myself,” she admitted. There’s been rumors, however, that she was seen filming a scene in which she looked awfully flirty with Carrie’s man, Mr. Big (Chris Noth), but she insists her character would do no such thing. “It’s not like that, [but] the scene is with the two of them.”

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the “six degrees of separation” theory.  It’s the same theory people used to show how all celebrities are connected by six degrees or less through Kevin Bacon.  Haha!  (Does anyone else find using the former Footloose frolic-er as the placebo here as hilariously random as I do?)  Well, for all intents and purposes, I will be putting it into play for this post as well… the theory, that is… not Kevin Bacon. 

While today’s blogging bit may not be exactly six degrees off, I’m using the common denominator that the first Sex and the City movie was all about Carrie and Big’s tumultuous twists and turns during their road to the alter, in order to justify writing about my total, over-the-top levels of anticipation for its sequel.  (SH$@*HG$#&GF!!!!!)  That’s supposed to symbolize my girlish giddiness.  Awesome, I know.

Anyhoot, People.com just released an article revealing some of the movie’s “some-things-to-look-forward-to” features, and I couldn’t be more pumped to discuss them all with you!  Among the delicious details is news of celebrity guest appearances from big names, such as Penelope Cruz, Miley Cyrus, and dare I even name drop it?… Liza Minnelli.  That’s right, even Ms. Minnelli will be pasting on her best false lashes and fluttering for the silver screening of this big sequel.  Too and Much. 

Ohhh, the 80's

Another juicy gem is the knowledge that the finest (“finest” being the operative word) fashions of the 1980’s will be out in full force through a memory Carrie recalls during a flashback.  Reminiscing when she first moved to the Big Apple and met her co-starring counterparts, Parker’s character will be dolled up and decked out in clothing from the most cringe worthy era ever.  For cereal, how can you not love that?

Patricia Field, the famous fashionista behind the iconic styles of Sex and the City and downright genius of the threads – if you ask me, went on to divulge that there will also be some exotic settings to watch for.  The cast and crew will spend about six weeks shooting in Morocco, which means the film will not only have babushka 80’s bangs, but belly dancers and Bedouins!  (Oh my!)

As for the Mr. and Mrs. Big newlywed networkers, Field is keeping her lips sealed.  (Boo!)  You know that girl knows we’re all DYING for some baby news!  Just like the age old saying, first comes love (aka Seasons 1-6 of the series); then come marriage (aka Sex and the City: The Movie); then comes (fill in your name here) in the baby carriage (Sex and the City: The Sequel)… I’m just saying

I know I haven’t stayed true to my word about updating.  These past couple of months have been insane.  As you may know, I decided to go back to school and take an online course.  I have been desperately trying to hold onto my dream of becoming a writer.  Sometimes I get really discouraged, but my passion for it is what’s been allowing me to hold on.  Here’s a brief of what’s been going on that I was supposed to update about.

I haven’t been reading much lately. I actually spend most of my time writing, instead of reading…which makes me both happy and sad, all at once.  Anyway, here are the ones I have read. I will give my take on them when I have a little bit more time. For now, I know some of you like to see what I’ve read and recommend. Though I won’t post the reviews right now, here are the titles, maybe you can check them out and see for yourself.  I know about 90% of them are pretty much classified as Chick-Lit, but I was in the mood for those at the time. I think I’ll turn to another genre for my next couple of books.

Il faut dire qu’au fil des années Carrie et sa bande de copines sont un peu devenues mes favorites New-York gals.
Du genre de celles dont les histoires d’amour foireuses vous font hurler de rire (mais ne sont parfois pas sans vous rappeler les vôtres…), dont l’amitié vous fait fortement penser à celle qui vous unit avec vos amies les plus proches, dont vous enviez les amis gays tellement clairvoyants et drôles et dont vous vous dites qu’à elles quatre elles sont un assez joli portrait des femmes actuelles et de leurs contradictions.

Dont vous enviez le dressing et le shoesing, est-ce nécessaire de le dire?

Perso, presque je vous donne Shali contre le mini-dressing de Carrie.

J’aime beaucoup leurs mecs aussi. Les portraits sont presque aussi soignés et complets que ceux de leurs amoureuses.

Donc elles sont bientôt de retour (en Mai 2010), et en attendant elles tournent, et moi je me régale des images.

La paper-dress Dior est de retour, Carrie a troqué ses Manolos pour des Louboutins, les fringues de créateurs à beaucoup trop de dollars sont visiblement de nouveau très très présentes. Une fois encore le dressing du film s’éloigne de celui de la série, mais j’imagine que ce n’est que la rançon de la gloire et les contraintes liées au passage au grand écran.

Heureusement la old days Carrie semble ne pas avoir totalement disparu, et vraiment, qu’est-ce que je l’aime avec ces looks là!!

Les scénaristes ont visiblement prévu de nous raconter l’arrivée des quatre donzelles à New-York back in the 80’s…j’ai hâte de découvrir les scènes. Les tenues sont assez prometteuses…

Plus je regarde l’ensemble de ces photos, plus je les trouve belles ces quatre femmes. Elles sont loin d’avoir des beautés classiques (sauf Kirstin Davis), mais elles ont toutes un charme et un éclat qui les aident à joliment vieillir (oui, un peu de chirurgie aussi, probablement). Et à rester finalement assez “normales” comparées à certaines de leurs consoeurs.

Bali a écrit un excellent billet sur Sarah-Jessica Parker, courez vite le lire, perso je me suis régalée!

SATC is my favorite EVER TV Show. I have seen every episode so many times, have the shoebox box set of the whole series. So when they announced that the movie was going to made. I was so happy about it, I even went to see it twice in the cinema when it first came out last year. Then when I went to NYC last year I was in heaven in the HBO shop buying lots of SATC merchandise.

While yes it is not the best movie ever made, in that sense. It is a very good movie for SATC fans, I don’t really expect anyone who wasn’t a big fan and I just a movie fan who went to see this actually like it as you have to care about the characters and already love them to really appreciate this movie. But to be able to see Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha and Big on the big screen was just fantastic. Yes I did pre-order the 2 disc DVD as soon as that was possible and received the movie 2 days before the release date thanks to play.com

The main storyline in this movie was Carrie and Big eventually deciding to get married after 10 years of the on-off Carrie/Big relationship which we never knew how it was going to end in the TV show. Of course she could not have stayed with the Russian in Paris, so it was Mr Big to the rescue to take Carrie back to where she belonged in New York.

The movie started with Carrie going to meet Big to have a look around an apartment (which we are lead to believe they had been doing since we left them at the end of the tv show). They end up looking at the penthouse, which Big says he will buy. Carrie then has to make a decision about her apartment, but while she is deciding this, they decide to get married, if that is what she wants.

It always did seem really tricky and like Big would not turn up to the wedding; at the last second he changes his mind to go back when he realizes that he is making a mistake. But it was too late by then Carrie had already started to leave. When the cars they are both in stop in a street, they get out and she totally freaks out on him, and charlottes face is just priceless.

Having watched the movie quite a few times now I still love it a lot, but as I said earlier it is not the best movie ever but because I was such a fan of the TV I cannot help but love the movie. The SATC little geek that I have become over the years. I cannot wait for the second big screen outting and quite curious what they are going to do with the girls next.

I guess I have nothing better to do but thought I would have a look into the future of film and pick out some movies that I am looking forward to being released in 2010. At this very moment in time, my list of what I really want to see only contains 10 movies. I am sure as time goes by this will increase to so many more . . .

Sex and the City 2

Have not really heard very much about this movie for a while but that doesnt really matter as long as it is out next year. I will be happy, I dont really care about the storyline I just want to see Carrie and the girls again. Yes I am a massive SATC fan, loved the first movie so cannot wait for this second movie to come out.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

Probably a funny choice since New Moon has not even been released yet. But I can look forward to the third installment coming out next year as well. As more Edward and Bella will be good times.

Footloose

Yes I was looking forward to this more when Zac Efron was cast in the main role, but still a remake of the Kevin Bacon classic is going to be interesting either way. With Chace Crawford in the role, who seems to be quite popular from a TV Show, possibly Gossip Girl? But maybe I am wrong about that.

Toy Story 3

Woody and Buzz along with the rest of the gang are going to be back, after so long away !!! and yes at the age of 21 almost 22 I am still excited to see them again. I love the first 2 movies and think it is going to be even better seeing them in 3D form in the new fun of Disney going 3-D crazy.

Inception

Anything with both Christopher Nolan and Leonardo DiCaprio attached to it is just going to be good. It cannot be bad, this is the movie which Nolan put off his 3rd Batman movie for. So it has a lot to cover. But it does sound good.

The Last Song

Yes, as you no by now I am a fan of Miley Cyrus so this movie which has been written by Nicholas Sparks and is Disney sounds like it will be really nice and still very good. I am looking forward to seeing Miley not in Hannah Montana and doing something a little different.

Hoodwinked 2: Hood v Evil

Yeah I have to admit that I really did like the first Hoodwinked and thought it was pretty much just fun to watch. With funny jokes and everything in it. It was different and just a good time really. So a second outing for the characters is fine by me.

Valentine’s Day

For one main reason . . . Julia Roberts and being back in the rom-com setting. It has to be good . . . ok it doesnt but I dont care if Jules is in a new movie. Yes I hate Valentine’s Day, and if I see this around Valentine’s day it will probably annoy me, haha.

Iron Man 2

Yes as soon as Iron Man finished I was hoping for a second installment for the man of iron. As it was just so good, when I wasnt really expecting very much from it. I am even more looking forward to it now that Mickey Rourke is in it and after seeing the picture of him as Whiplash the other it is going to be a massive hit in my world. Robert Downey Jr and Mickey Rourke both being in a movie that is definatly going ot be a hit, is something that nobody could have predicted a few years ago.

Robin Hood

The new Robin Hood, which I hope is made as read something the other day which stated it was in trouble? But hopefully not with Ridley Scott directing and Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett being signed on as Robin and Marion. It has to be good, although I do hold Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves close to my heart. But I do love the whole Robin Hood story in general.

Chris Noth will be back as Mr, Big in the Sex & The City: The Movie sequel after coming to terms with producers over his film deal.

Noth recently revealed he was still “in negotiations” with producers to reprise his role, even though filming on the sequel started in March.

But his co-star and on-screen partner Sarah Jessica Parker tells E! News the actor will definitely be back to play her husband on the big screen.

The actor has admitted he has big plans for his character when he does reprise his role: “I want him to travel the world. I think he and (Parker’s character) Carrie (Bradshaw) should go to Bali.”

But Parker insists producers have yet to tell the pair how the plot will unfold.

She says, “I don’t know anything yet.”

Roman Polanski has enjoyed something of an autumn harvest, with both The Pianist and Oliver Twist showing a director finally comfortable with his late period-style. Now Variety reports that Polanski has the go-ahead for his next movie, The Ghost. The political thriller has received a cash injection from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, a German film subsidy board.

In Robert Harris’ novel, Britain’s former prime minister Adam Lang is putting together his memoirs. His collaborator drowns in Martha’s Vinyard, and an unnamed writer is hired to take his place. Then Lang is called up before a war crimes tribunal, and the ghostwriter ends up in possession of the hottest manuscript in town.

The film could be a difficult, but fascinating, task for Polanski, as the author’s chore is to sort out just where in the manuscript Adam Lang is lying and where he’s telling the truth. That means more action happens on the page than off it. Polanski has also never strayed from satire, and the book gives him the opportunity to skewer authorial pretensions, the publishing business, and politicians like “Phony” Tony Blair. Publishers Weekly notes “Harris nicely leavens his cynical tale with gallows humor.” It’s a tone Polanski perfected in films like the immortal Chinatown.

The cast demonstrates a belief in second chances. Pierce Brosnan is playing the slippery premier. Ewan McGregor is the ink-stained wretch. Kim Cattrall is hoping we forget the image of herself covered in fruit from Sex and the City … although we can be sure that Polanski hasn’t. The Polish director has given us the absurdity of the Holocaust and the hell of childhood. Let’s hope the Vampire Killer’s stakes are sharp enough to skewer the world’s corrupt leaders.

• Oh, that Mickey Rourke. He got a faceful of Marisa Tomei’s ta-tas in The Wrestler. Now Megan Fox might have a toot on his trumpet. Hey, get your mind of the gutter. Mitch Glazer’s Passion Plays will have Rourke’s horn-blower taking a carnival beauty named “Angel” under his wing and protecting her from a gangster type. Angels? Trumpets? Wings? Geddit? While the thriller itself sounds skippable, bloggers everywhere thank Mr. Glazer for giving them an op to post near-naked Fox pictures. (Hollywood Reporter)
• We’re not done with Mr. Big. Sex and the City 2 will come again in theaters on May 28, 2010, giving heterosexual men only a year and a month to steel themselves for another two-and-a-half-hours of drag queens who lunch. Warner Bros. and New Line haven’t given any more details, but as they come in, we’ll have more opportunities to indulge in inappropriate homophobia. Note to the fanboys: Sex and the City: The Movie made $412.6 million worldwide, easily out-grossing a certain comic book movie we’re all tired of hearing about. (Variety)
• “Stringer” Bell is pumping up his resume. Idris Elba and Zoe Saldana are joining Jeffrey Dean Morgan as The Losers. They’ll all play members of a special forces team who are left for dead, then try to erase their names from a CIA dead pool. Wait, doesn’t it usually happen the other way around? Elba will be doing cold and ruthless, Zoe will be doing wounded and tough, and Morgan is this Z-team’s Hannibal. (Hollywood Reporter)
• If anybody wants Aaron Eckhart to play Two-Face again, they’d better have a word. The actor is filling up his future by falling into Rabbit Hole, which also stars Nicole Kidman. The play finds a family rocked by the sudden death of their four-year-old, and the audience thinking, “Hurry up and get on with your lives.” Hedwig and the Angry Inch’s John Cameron Mitchell directs, so with luck there will be a song or two. (Production Weekly)
• Meet the Parents director Jay Roach is currently helping Sacha Baron Cohen out with Bruno. So Paul Weitz is looking to jump into the helmer’s chair for Little Fockers, the third part of the comic trilogy. He’s the lesser known half of the American Pie team. Ben Stiller is expected to learn that Robert De Niro is his real father and Teri Polo will meet Ewoks. Actually, what we’ll really see is the sorry spectacle of Jake LaMotta doing changing diaper gags. (Variety)

My birthday was last week and it was really a good day. I was showered with birthday wishes from friends, family, and co-workers. It was a nice, warm fuzzy kind of day. But as the day went on and the sun went down, the thing I kept thinking about was the one birthday text, call, or e-mail I didn’t get. Why do I do that to myself? Why I do I negate all the love in my life by focusing on the love I don’t have?

I did the same thing to myself when I was offered my job. It’s a great job doing what I’ve wanted to do since I was 12 years old. I’ve always wanted to be an editor. In fifth grade I started a classroom newspaper with a couple of friends and I was the editor. I actually typed our paper up on my electric IBM typewriter. We only lasted one issue but it was a good one. So, after years of doing other types of work that never really satisfied me a door finally opened, and even though I thought I had no chance of being selected, I submitted my resume, and was actually offered the job. It was a great day. But I actually remember thinking “I almost have it all now.” Why did I do that to myself? Why in that moment of complete happiness did I criticize myself for the one thing I didn’t have?

This weekend’s movie (you knew it was coming…I have to talk about some movie I just saw) was “Sex and the City The Movie”. I’ve seen it about a billion times but the DVD player wouldn’t play the other movie I put in, so I grabbed the closest disc and tried it. Sure enough, “Sex and the City” started with no problems, so I took it as a sign and watched it again. The DVD continued to malfunction with one of technology’s cruelest jokes by freezing on a frame of Carrie pulling her wedding gown out of its storage box. This is the scene long after the wedding day, when she finds the box in her closet and seeing it again is not a happy thing. So, there it was, stuck on my screen. It wouldn’t go away. Not by pushing stop, or pause, or next, or previous. I had to ask what it meant. Anything? Nothing? Enjoy looking at this one because you’ll never have one of your own? I don’t know, but felt kind of like a taunt.

I always thought of myself as a Charlotte. You know, idealistic and waiting for a knight in shining armor. But while watching the movie this time I thought “I need to be more of a Sam.” Not exactly like her, not promiscuous like her, but focused on my relationship with myself. When she breaks up with Smith, she says “I’ve been in a relationship with myself for 49 years and right now that’s the one I need to work on.” I thought “Yes! That’s what I need to do!” Why do I criticize myself for the thing I don’t have? Do I really want that, or do I just think I’m expected to have a relationship so if I don’t I’m not okay? I used to be completely comfortable being alone; and I don’t mean just alone for an evening or an afternoon, but I was more comfortable and content to be alone and not in a relationship than to be in one.

So, there it is. I’m hanging up my Charlotte hat and trading it in for some Samantha heels. Maybe I’m not relationship material. Maybe I’m too selfish and maybe I love myself more than I’ll ever love anyone else and maybe that’s okay.
