In day and time that we live, it seems like the eyes of the church have dimmed and its resolve has e

In day and time that we live, it seems like the eyes of the church have dimmed and its resolve has ebbed. It seems like we have dropped our guard, slid down the slope, and lowered our standards to the point that they’re already met. We’ve laid down our truth, our history, and the thousands of years of strong, steadfast, examples in favor of one shot, quick flash, celebrities and watery pastors. All of this in the name of “hope” and “reaching out” to the lost.

The scriptures talk about things like this happening in the last days:

“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves.”Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves. (Matthew 7:15)

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be shrewd as serpents and innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16)

I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. (Acts 20:29-30)

There are some important things to notice here…First, Jesus and Paul tell us to beware of false prophets and wolves. If you look at what Paul says in Acts 20, he says that the wolves will come in among us and not spare the flock. Not only that, wolves will arise from among your own selves. They warned us that wolves will be around us and among us and that we should be alert becuase these wolves look like sheep! While I know that this is not necessary strong hermeneutically, Jesus said that the way to hell is broad. There are many, many more wolves than there are sheep.

These wolves in sheeps’ clothing speak lies and perverse things drawing disciples away after them. Is anyone aware? Is anyone paying attention? Or, is everyone too busy sliding down the slippery slope to dig in their heels and stand up. To turn away from the things that don’t glorify God and speak out against those things that have no business in the body of Christ. It seems that not only is the church sliding down the slope but they seem to be opening the doors to these wolves! What will it take for men and women of fire and boldness for the things of God to stand up and speak out against the things that are false and paper thin? We are told in scripture that the way is narrow for those who go to heaven, but the implication is that there are some still walking that path! Are there any left in America? Are there any who are turning their eyes from the filth that permeates everything we see and hear? Americans seem to be extremely quick to jump on anything that names something Biblical or scriptural and no longer seem to be concerned with whether or not those things are scriptural. Where are the Bereans? Where are the Christians who are checking everything said and heard against the scripture and throwing out everything that doesn’t line up with what scripture says? We are quick to lift up anyone who names the name of Christ without actually checking to see if they are truly saved or whether or not what they do or how they live is actually in line with sound Christian doctrine?

What am I talking about? Here are just a few examples. The Book of Eli is a new movie that was recently released. It features Denzel Washington as the lead character and has been touted as a Christian themed movie because the Bible is part of the main plot. Eli is carrying the Bible across the US to the west coast and the villan is trying to get it from him to use it for evil purposes. Many supporters of the movie talk about how Eli mentions “the Book”, prays for himself and others, and even quotes scriptures. They seem to forget that the movie also contains a lot of gore, some vague nudity, profanity and blasphemy, and even rape situations. Is this something that Christians should be supporting just because it uses the Bible? Should we overlook all of the fornication, prostitution, rape, gore, and blasphemy because scripture is quoted? I don’t think so. Is there nothing else that we can support that is actually something uplifting and God-glorifying? Can someone actually show me how the movie glorifies God? Have we fallen this far that we would actually consider a movie like this something that correctly portrays Christianity? Some will say, “It’s just a movie and there are other Christian movies with blood and gore”. You’re right, it’s just a movie. But there are numerous times where the scriptures tell us to be careful what we put into our eyes, ears, and hearts. You’re right, there are many other Christian movies that show blood and gore. The Passion of the Christ contains a lot of blood and gore but the context is a scriptural one. It is horrible to watch, but it is a portrayal of what happened.

Where do we draw the line? We are the line drawers. Where do we draw it? When will we draw it? Can Christians not find other things to do with their time and money?

The other example that comes to mind is the recent Hope for Haiti telethon. This telethon was held to raise money for the relief effort down in Haiti. Why is this an example? The telethon featured some of the hottest secular music and movie celebrities. Many of these men and women have spent much of their time, money, and life promoting lifestyles that are clearly opposed to the Christianity, if not outright attacking it and the Saviour it offers for their sins. Then, all of a sudden they all found religion and sing about God in order to get people to send money to help Haiti. I wonder if these people realize that Christians are the first to go and give, the last to leave, and are the only ones that can offer something of substance to the Haitians. But, for the telethon, you had Justin Timberlake talking about the only thing on his tongue being “Hallelujah”. This is a far cry from the lyrics for “SexyBack”(not suitable for kids) or “Take Me Now” (not suitable for kids either). You had Christina Aguilera singing about being lifted up (I can only imagine that she meant God because she really didn’t say) but it’s a 180 degree turn from lyrics like “Dirrty” and “Nasty Naughty Boy”, not to mention the way that she dresses… This is par for the course from the remaining “artists” who performed. Jay-Z, Bono, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder (who sang that song about Barack Obama…), Madonna (SHE SANG ”LIKE A PRAYER” !), and a cast of thousands who showed up. The amazing thing is, not one of these people are considered a Christian artist. Does this mean that they’re not Christians? Nope. But for many of them (not all) their seemingly overnight conversion coincidentally happened about the time they were called on to help raise money for Haiti. What will we see in the weeks and months from these artists who so recently sang about “their” God? Will it be a truly changed life and direction for their music? I hope so, but I don’t have a lot of faith in that.

I’m truly concerned about what the church has openly allowed into its doors (if not having gone out and dragged it in). The examples above are on top of all of the unbiblical, unscriptural “preaching” and “teaching” that is taking place every Sunday at churches across the US. It doens’t include people like Rob Bell, Brian McLaren, and other emergents. It is in addition to Jesse Duplantis, Ken Copeland, Creflo Dollar and other prosperity preachers. It leaves out Rick Warren, Bill Hybels, and others who hype the “social gospel”. These are dangerous times and we are sleeping…We are letting in the wolves and they are taking the opportunity to turn away so many from the true faith. They are not sparing the flock and the number of those who are being taken continues to grow as we allow more and more to seep in to the chruch. Will we stand and fight for the faith or will we continue to hold the door open as the wolves stream in and continue to thin the flock?

On Sept. 26 college football fans around the country rejoiced when the Virginia Tech Hokies plummete

On Sept. 26 college football fans around the country rejoiced when the Virginia Tech Hokies plummeted the Miami Hurricanes for their first loss of the young season.

Many thought (and hoped) that ESPN would retire the term “swagger” after such a defeat. After all, with the likes of Lou Holtz “dropping” the overplayed word during pregame shows, it was only a matter of time.

Instead, swagger has gained even more steam as analysts reference it during NFL games and musical acts use it in song lyrics:

“And now the dudes are lining up ’cause they hear we got swagger” -Ke$ha from “Tik Tok”

“They try to copy my swagger/I’m on that next s*** now” -Black Eyed Peas from “Boom Boom Pow”

“Swag up, it’s bright, one blade it’s tight” -Beyoncé from “Video Phone”

“Complete swagger, there go the dagger” -Flo Rida and Lady GaGa from “Starstruck”

“No one on the corner have swagger like us” -T.I., Kanye West, Lil’ Wayne from “Swagger Like Us”

Alexander Hicks, Andrew Sellers, Kathyrn Sellers and Brandon Pickett wear their "The U Invented Swagger" shirts during the Oct. 3 game against Oklahoma at Land Shark Stadium. Photo by Christina De Nicola

“The U Invented Swagger” shirt remains a bestseller at allCanes and last month’s “The U” ESPN 30 for 30 documentary further glorified the lifestyle during the football program’s heyday.

But what brought the term back into our collective consciousness?

Are the Canes (like Justin Timberlake with “SexyBack”) to blame because of their early-season success that made the media salivate like Pavlov’s dogs?

Did it ever really go away?

One thing is for certain: Swagger is back, and it’s here to stay.

While you’re at it, why don’t you use your time machine to stop by the late 80s to warn young you that the hi-top fade, rope chain, and MC Hammer pants look won’t last either.

Is Justin Timberlake still lovestoned with his girlfriend Jessica Biel? Depending on the source, the answer could go either way.

According to an Us Weekly exclusive, sources revealed that Timberlake ended their three-year relationship about a month ago during a phone call. Ouch, talk about giving the term “calling it quits” new meaning!

Meanwhile, People Magazine reports that J-Squared is far from over.

“They’re not breaking up,” a source spilled to the magazine, “any time they spend time apart it’s because they’re working.”

Biel, on her part, has been busy filming the romantic-comedy Valentine’s Day while Timberlake has continued to expand his entrepreneurial empire that includes music, acting and fashion.

Another insider, however, is not so convinced hinting that the connection the couple once shared is indeed wearing thin.

“Things have been a bit up in the air recently… Jessica has felt like they haven’t been on the same page.”

When I first started my degree, I was taken on an Orientation Camp with all the other students start

When I first started my degree, I was taken on an Orientation Camp with all the other students starting IT degrees so we could meet each other before lectures started. The theme of the camp was “IT’s bringing SexyBack” as the Justin Timberlake song had just come out the summer before. Although it was really catchy during camp, after thinking about it for a while, it’s actually what IT needs to do… bring the sexiness back.

Think about it, whenever you first say “I’m in IT”, the perception is that you sit behind a computer all day typing in binary to a green screen whilst wearing suspenders and three inch thick glasses. Although I am not disputing the fact that this happens in some places – in 99% of cases it’s not – so many amazing things happen with Information Technology – websites, flash, games and systems that do everything in the blink of an eye.But not many people outside IT know these amazing things… but why? I’m putting it down to perception that IT people display themselves, and the way that people who don’t know IT see the industry.

I don’t want to stereotype – but there’s a few guys within the IT industry that don’t have the communication skills to be able to liaise with people who haven’t grown up with Java, Objects and LAN Cables. They talk about the technical jargon with ease, but to most people it’s a completely different image. On the other hand, the business expect IT to come crawling to them fixing every single computer issue (no matter how trivial it is). I know whenever I introduce myself as an IT student, at least eight times out of ten the next statement will be “So can you fix my computer?” They stereotype IT people to all be Help Desk specialists.

We’re pretty much as bad as each other. We need to find a middle ground.

With the integration of IT and Business – it’s not going to be too long until you will need to have the technical savvy and the business sense to survive in the business world. Business students should be doing more IT subjects – by no means am I saying doing a double major in IT and Computer Science – but at least some sort of submajor so they know what a Router is and why a normalised database is important. The technical gurus need to learn how to communicate… pretty much becoming their own translators. They need to be able to explain in layman’s terms (especially without the technical jargon) what is the functionality of their system – but at the same time not patronising the business.

But this is only starting a synchronous relationship (you can see which side I align to). Although it’s the most important first step, it’s not really making IT sexy. What is important is improving the perceptions of the IT industry, so people want to be involved in amazing IT solutions instead of business users seeing a new IT system as an inconvenience because they have to change the way they do things. I have first hand experience with these perceptions.

I used to work for a leading FMCG organisation as a Business Analyst, and I was working on a process improvement and automation project. The Project Manager and I would go arrange for requirements meetings every few days, and in a few cases we were told to change the meetings because the workers were too busy caching up with paperwork. They would always sigh whenever they knew we were coming to talk to them – because they thought that their work was so much more important than ours. I know that everyone’s work is important to them, but they thought they we would just cater to their every whim and that we were there to do exactly what they want. And it is so not like that. The team should have felt privileged that there were people out there who actually cared about fixing their processes so they would be able to work more efficiently and look fantastic in front of the management of the organisation. Way too many IT projects still fail, but most of these failures can be attributed to incorrect/insufficient requirements at the start of the project. If there is sufficient communication and collaboration between business and IT users, then this could help reduce this percentage even further.

IT needs to show the improvements it makes to society. Think about the user-friendliness of the Apple range and how Google has helped us find everything that we could ever possibly imagine. What about the addiction the world has with Facebook, Twitter and Youtube? We need to get the spark from these organisations and spread this love around to every single IT organisation. If someone from IT is passionate about a project, they should go speak to the business and those users will be able to see the passion they have for the project. Passion is contagious and the more time an IT user shows a new development to a business user, they can show how it is going to improve their efficiency at work so much that they will be able to leave at 5pm on the dot every night. When they see the benefits, they will be more thankful that the project existed in the first place.

And when someone is happy about how an IT project has improved their lives, they will spread the word.

PS. This is only a little bit of what you need to do – I’m planning on writing up some more things orgs should do to bring the sexy back.

So I was reading an inspiring blog post the other day by our friend Foodie. She was talking about doing a 5k and how excited she was

Out little inspirational Foodie!

about it. I am not sure what came over me, lack of sugar in my system, a moment of delusion I don’t know. The next thing I know I tell Foodie I want to do a 5k by my next birthday! Seriously, we all have those crazy spontaneous moments right? Not one to procrastinate Foodie sent me an email right away with a couch to 5k plan. When I opened her email I kinda got a stomach ache and felt really tired just clicking the button. Anything to do with running just wipes me out! I quickly closed her email and said “I will deal with this tomorrow.” So tomorrow came and went 3 times. Then tonight I go onto twitter and declare “I am going to start the couch to 5k training tomorrow!” What the HAY is my deal? Tomorrow never comes when I choose to do it tomorrow! As soon as I realized I had said it I quickly responded with “I am going to start tonight not tomorrow.”

TONIGHT I started my training for a 5k by my birthday on September 8th. It was not near as bad as I thought it would be. Surprisingly I have gotten into better shape over the last few weeks I have decided that I am really going to do this! For some reason if you put a challenge in front of me I just have to do it. It runs in my family trust me. For now its every other day following the little plan that Foodie sent me. This is really exciting and I am looking forward to it. Angie is going to do it with me she just does not know it yet LOL. She made me quit the diet coke so now we will be even. Well almost, diet coke is SOOOO good! When I was about 20 minutes in my ipod played the song sexy back, lol. It made me laugh but it made me think…Hell yeah i’ll bring sexy back!

If you live in Utah or are going to be visiting in Sept. join me on this little venture! It would be so much fun to do as a group and I would love to meet you in person.

To the strains of “Sexyback,” an alluring American Morning correspondent Alina Cho took the higher ground today during “Obama’s First 100 Days” segment. Literally. Since her usual sexy stilts (as AM co-host John Roberts is wont to call them)* were not enough for the cameraman to juxtapose her to a more statuesque Kiran Chetry, the 5′2″ Korean cutie gamely stood atop a black box.

Today was just another example of how the rather demure Asian beauty takes her short stature in stride. In an earlier “Model Boot Camp” story, Alina boasted, “I’ve never been afraid of a high heel.”* When John then commented that her heels were the tallest that he had ever seen, she asked, “What do you do when you’re 5′2″?”* To the dismay of many of her male fans, thus far, she does not take the conventional fashion counsel to shorten her midi/maxi hemline to add height (or give a leggier look).

Apparently, Alina is not a fan of Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!**

Neither Macaulay Culkin’s return to the screen nor Sarita Choudhury’s sexy back was enough to save Kings from its Saturday night ratings plunge. According to the Futon critic and Raked, the modern retelling of the tale of Saul and David is now officially on hiatus ’til June. Thanks, NBC, for blueballing us again. Seriously, thanks. I’ve been meaning to finish up a dissertation, and this frees up some time.

Luckily, this week’s episode (which posted an abysmal 0.6 rating), didn’t exactly leave its dwindling audience hanging. The political uprisings of last week were seemingly all forgotten with the pageantry of “Judgment Day,” David’s martyr-happy brother has lived to annoy us another day, and everyone still loves Silas. Well, almost everyone. The king’s icy judgment over Dr. Nayar’s (Ajay Naidu) case and stone-walling of his illegitimate son’s mother (Choudhury) should come back to haunt him, in the end. A few questions go unanswered: for one, why was Macaulay Culkin banished at all? ‘Cause of a latent shoe fetish? For tea-bagging the crown (like his old man would)? My bet is it was something much more nefarious; Culkin’s brief appearance was creepy enough to make Jack look like the good son.

Still, despite the show’s flaws, Kings’ hiatus-slash-cancellation is a tough blow not only for the few of us who tuned in week after week, but for network dramas, period. If NBC is willing to put its chips down on a derivative cop procedural like Southland, but not have the sand to give Kings a decent weekday slot, then expect a whole lot more of the same-old on network television. Honestly, if America can’t appreciate a Swearengen-Langrishe reunion, then I don’t know what to tell them.

Does Kiran want that magazine profile? In an interview yesterday with retiring Playboy CEO Christie Hefner, Kiran revealed, “There is this fascination with, and I’m a fan of the show, “The Girls Next Door, and also just the fascinating life that your father has led.” She added, “The company really is, has become famous for naked women and Playboy Bunnies,” and asked, “Who’s the role model for other women out there: you or the Bunnies?” Hefner responded that Playboy was about empowerment and choice whether as a model, commentator or CEO.

I just went through the blogs of some girls, and realized that many of them put up posts that tell guys how not to behave to a girl or how badly some guys behave. It’s amazing how some of them fail to realize that girls themselves have flaws and don’t know how to behave to a guy.

I have nothing against females. I admit that guys too have flaws So please don’t think that i stereotype females.

Girls and guys should stop the whole spot-the-flaw with the other gender, and should spot the flaw within themselves. But as we all know, that’ll be very hard. Buddha said this “We are humans, We are one, The colour of our blood is the same, The taste of our tears is the same, So we should treat ourselves as siblings.” But I’m no Buddha, and i think that humans are too corrupted to think like Buddha.

If there is one thing that i(and most guys) can’t stand about girls is the whole “OMG! I’m SO FAT! AM I FAT? I AM FAT!”

Grooooose! Some of them look like a bamboo pole and they start screaming if they see their skin flabbing! Haha! Come On! Some girls look good if they are plump, by slimming down, they spoil their natural beauty and end up looking worse.

Skinny, Bony, Grose, Unglamourous, That’s Your Definition Of Sexy Right?

Moral of the Story is–

1) Guys do have flaws, but girls who think that guys ONLY have flaws, think again.

2)To the insecure bimbos out there, who just wouldn’t be happy with their appearance and want to spoil their beauty by slimming to the point of bones, well, don’t think you can attract guys that way.

3)Also, spare a thought for your future, how in the world are you guys going to bear a child with that kind of a SEXY body?

4)Girls, for those of you who are seriously overweight, it is ok to think about slimming, but to those who are not super overweight, please don’t spoil your natural beauty by dieting excessively and slimming down. That’ll be very sad.

A Primary school teacher of mine, was quite plump but she was pretty and sweet. She was one of my favourite teachers in school. She also felt insecure and underwent excessive dieting. Did she slim down? Yes, but she passed away soon after that! Is this necessary?

I do know one thing though, whatever i said in this post, will do nothing to change the minds of such insecure females, because, that’s just the way it is. Some things cannot be changed.
