Returning with his first LP since his departure from Shady Records (where he was one of the label’s top selling artists), Obie Trice readies a new street LP, Special Reserve, which finds him collaborating solely with rising producer MoSS.

Eminem x Shady Talez. We have just learned that Eminem is confirmed to star in a 3D horror movie called Shady Talez. It will be the first starring role for Eminem since 8 Mile. We also got the drop that the production, writer and plot are all confirmed. The movie was actually an idea brought up Violator Management (Chris Lighty and Mona Scott) early last year but Eminem was not attached at the time. Since then, Eminem has been brought on board and will actually play multiple roles throughout the movie which will be distributed in 3D.

Slim will produce and star in the movie which will be a nod to classic horror genre flicks but with an urban edge. The writer of the Underworld franchises is on board as well as Dallas Jackson, writer of the upcoming Last Dragon remake. Shady Talez is also being turned into limited run comic book series due out in 2010 under the Marvel Icons imprint.

Been a long time since anyone has seen Shady on the big screen (cameos don’t count) but this looks to be an interesting project. Hopefully it gets the right production value and budget to make this a legit movie and not some Direct-To-Video fodder for Blockbuster.

The tweet above is self explanatory. Following the whole SlaughterHouse/Shady Records rumors, Joe Budden received a phone call from the world’s favorite Caucasian rapper and got big props for his Cypher verse. Seems like a big step in the right direction, from what I’ve always read around Eminem only starts to develop a relationship and or starts having phone calls with Artists he plans to work with in the future.

I wonder how 50 feels?

Artiste à gros succès, Eminem est avant tout un phénomène. Premier rappeur blanc a devenir star internationale, il s’affirme aussi par un caractère bien trempé, un phrasé incontournable, des textes poignants et un parcours atypique.

Son histoire a d’ailleurs été le sujet d’un film. En 2002, sort le long métrage 8 Mile, film qui connaitra un énorme succès planétaire, mais qui fut aussi la première biographie cinématographique d’une star du hip-hop.

Eminem rappe des textes impliqués et personnels, dans lesquels il n’hésite pas à raconter son enfance difficile à Detroit, dans le Michigan, où il fut le seul blanc dans un milieu d’afro-américain. Sa relation difficile avec sa mère fut également un thème récurrent de sa discographie. Des relations tumultueuses qu’il n’hésite pas à dénoncer dans ses morceaux, parfois avec des propos très durs et plein de rancoeur envers sa mère.

Depuis ses débuts, en 1995, Eminem a souvent fait la une de l’actualité pour son talent musical, mais aussi pour ses frasques et ses ennuis judiciaires.

Eminem sera en effet sujet à de nombreuses controverses. Accusé d’homophobie et de mysonginie, Eminem se défend en invoquant son alter ego diabolique, Slim Shady, un double qu’il s’est inventé en 1997. Ce personnage lui permet d’exprimer une facette plus sombre de sa personnalité, au moment où ses problèmes personnels sont au paroxysme (bataille judiciaire contre sa mère, divorce, dépendance à l’alcool et à la drogue, …).

L’opus “The Slim Shady LP” fut aussi celui que fit conaittre Eminem au grand public. Remarqué par Dr Dre quelques mosi auparavant, ce dernier le signe sur son label, Aftermath Entertainment, et produit “The Slim Shady LP”, d’où sont tirés les titres Guilty Conscience et My Name Is. Cet album lanca la carrière d’EMinem.

Marshall Mathers (de son vrai nom) confirma vite les espoirs placés en lui. En 2000, sort le best-seller “Marshall Mathers LP”, toujours sous le label de Dr Dre. Porté par le succès de cet album, il prend part à la mémorable tournée “Up in Smoke Tour”, en compagnie de Dr Dre, Nate Dogg, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg et les poids lourds de la West Coast.

Il devint ensuite producteur. Il crée le label Shady Records, sur lequel il signa 5O Cent (qu’il co-produisit avec Dr Dre), Obie Trice, Cashis, et le groupe D-12, dont il fait partit. Ce groupe a été crée lorsqu’Eminem n’éta it encore que le “petit blanc” de la banlieue de Detroit. Constitué d’EMinem et de 5 de ses amis d’enfance, D-12 est l’abréviation de Dirty Dozen (les 12 salopards), où chaque membre possède son jumeau maléfique.

Pour Eminem, 2002 rime avec consécration. Grâce à l’album “The EMinem Show” et la sortie du film 8 Mile, il devient une star interplanétaire incontournable.

Mais la suit fut moins rose. Alors que son sixième album Encore, rencontra un franc succès, Marshall Mathers fut rattrappé par ses problèmes personnels. TOuché par une déprime, il retombe dans l’alcool et la drogue. 2005 fut pour lui une année difficile, durant laquelle Eminem s’affirme comme dépressif et incapable de remttre les pieds en studio d’enregistrement.

Durant près de 4 ans, la carrière d’Eminem est au poing mort. Il se fait oublier et s’isole. Seul fait marquant de cette période, la co-production de l’album Curtis d’EMinem avec Dr Dre.

Soigné de ses coups de déprimes et de sa toxicomanie, Slim Shady revient en 2009. Son album Relapse lui permet de faire un retour gagnant sur le devant de la scène. Même si EMinem est tombé bas dans la tourmente, il a su faire preuve d’une grande force de caractère pour opérer à un come-back parfaitement réussi. Les titres Crack A Bottle et We Made You ont déjà pris d’assaut les charts.

It’s starting to feel like winter time in Chicago which is making getting up and coming to work that much harder especially on Mondays.  Maybe that’s just me.  Over the weekend, I came across of Royce Da 5′9″s first installment of The Bar Exam hosted by DJ Premier and Statik Selectah.  I couldn’t wait to listen because of how incredible The Bar Exam 2 was.  I’ve been listening to it since Saturday and I am definitely hooked.  The tape starts out exactly how it should and Royce proves exactly why he is one of the nicest dudes on the mike.  He rips tracks like Nas Is Like, Feelin It and Gone making them sound as new and as fresh as ever.  I’m telling you, October 20th, Street Hop is going to be FIERCE.  If Royce continues to come with it like he has been, Street Hop will definitely be in the top 5 albums of 2009.  Peep Dinner Time and the October 20th tracks I posted previously.  If your still not a believer here is Royce MURDERING Kanye’s track Gone.  That move to Shady is only going to spell trouble for A LOT of cats.  I bet Eminem is fired up that he got left off MTV’s Hottest Rappers in the game after dropping Relapse. 

Eminem’s publisher and Apple Inc have finally settled a legal clash over the digital downloading right for a number of the rapper’s songs.

Richard Busch, the attorney for Eight Mile Style, revealed that an amicable deal was reached on Thursday, but declined to offer details.

In the 2007 lawsuit, Eight Mile charged that Apple had no right to sell 93 songs on the popular iTunes platform, but the computer monolith claimed they had a clearance through Aftermath Entertainment. The publishing company was seeking millions in compensation.

Eminem’s Relapse 2 is expected to drop before the end of 2009.

Eminem has credited Just Blaze with nearly half of the ‘Relapse 2′ album.  Em said he is back on grind.

So will the world see the Hip-Hop supergroup Slaughterhouse join Eminem’s Shady Records family?

I try not to post much rap anymore consider how stale the music has been of late, but this D-12 joint is definitely Money, Hoes, and Clothes.  With a hook like “I got me an ugly bitch / but she pay dem bills,” there was no way in hell I was gonna pass up posting this shit.  Hopefully this mixtape sees the once infamous group return to their former glory.

50 Cent’s long-awaited album, Before I Self Destruct, has finally found some stability. For most of its promotion, the album has never had a set release date.

In September, the album was given an official release date. The album is set to be released on November 17, 2009 on Shady/Aftermath/Interscope.

After the set release date comes the album cover. Many images have circulated the internet, claiming to be the official cover of the album. But, the image above is the official cover. It was described by ThisIs50.com as a cross between his previous album cover, Curtis, and the film, Terminator.

Also, many tracks have surfaced over the past year and have, at one point, been linked to this album. It is unclear if any of these tracks will be used or if he has recorded an entirely new album that has not been leaked to the public.

While not much information has been given on the album, 50 Cent has described it as a return to his Get Rich or die Tryin’ phase.

Royce Talks about the potential of Slaughterhouse signing  to Shady records and what that could mean for hip hop. He says it would bring a balance back to hip hop because they would have the right machine backing them. Again however he says this is all hypothetical nothing is guaranteed.

“Who’s to say Slaughterhouse and Eminem ain’t did a record already?” And then he laughed. I caught up with Slaughterhouse member and Detroit emcee Royce Da 5′9 yesterday after his MTV interview made hip-hop headlines when he confirmed the Shady Records rumors. He answered three of the biggest questions fans have been asking and compared the situation to what Young Money has been able to do, which, in my opinion, was a great analogy. He finished by saying, “Slaughterhouse signing to Shady Records is not a guarantee to me or to Slaughterhouse.”

Upon being featured in a cameo capacity in the “Forever” video, rumors of Slaughterhouse negotiating a deal with Eminem’s Shady Records began circulating the internet. Yesterday (Sept. 28), Slaughterhouse member Royce Da 5′9″ lent some credence to those rumors.

“I’ve been talking to Em and Paul [Rosenberg, Eminem's manager] for a long time,” said Royce to MTV News. “With this particular situation, things are falling into place. Everything is in place where it’s supposed to be. I’m very prepared [for] when the opportunity presented itself. It’s a time where there’s things they need over here and certain things we need in order to move over there. I think it’s a good marriage. Like I said, I just hope it can happen.”

Royce and Eminem famously collaborated on “Bad Meets Evil” on Eminem’s 1999 major-label debut, the Slim Shady LP. The two formed a group together bearing the same name as the song. The two became distant during the making of Dr. Dre’s 1999 album, 2001, and had a falling out in 2002 around the time 50 Cent was signed to Shady/Aftermath.

Royce chopped it up with MTV News to discuss his upcoming release “Street Hop” and touched on the topic of his supergroup Slaughterhouse signing with Eminem’s record label Shady Records. After Slaughterhouse appearing in the ‘Forever’ video during Eminem’s song stealing verse portion of the video; there was heavy speculation the SH was possibly Shady-bound: Royce clarifies the rumors.

NO SLAUGHTERHOUSE ON SHADY

Royce Da 5′9 is deading rumors that Slaughterhouse will be signing with Shady.  Apparently their appearance in the Forever video was just a right time right place moment.  Here’s what he had to say:

“There’s gonna be rumors when somebody see something like that but it just is what it is…We just all family. As everybody knows, Em is a good friend of mine. We’ve been good friends for years. I just had my Slaugterhouse brothers in town and Paul asked me to come down and be in the video and they just happened to be in town with me so I just brought ‘em”

If there’s anything that we’ve learned over the years, it’s that…there are no coincidences in hiphop. Many of you sharp-eyed readers were speculating about that not-so-subtle Slaughterhouse cameo in the new “Forever” video. The four lyrical butchers stand behind Eminem during his scene, which was shot in Detroit (as opposed to the rest of the video, which was shot in Miami).

It’s a befitting finale for such a heavyweight crew cut. Eminem’s verse is fire (my personal favorite of the four) and so is the visual: seeing Em, alongside Joell Ortiz (who was once signed to Em’s mentor, Dre), Crooked I (who was once signed to Dre’s de-mentor, Suge), Royce da 5′9″ (Em’s renewed friend), and Joe Budden (who is just…Joe Budden, lol).

The combo was premiered on RapRadar, and 2DopeBoyz hinted at future collabs.

So here are the “rumors” that I’m hearing…

That Slaughterhouse appearance in “Forever,” was indeed a non-verbal announcement of the contract negotiations going on behind the scenes. For the past month, both sides have been working towards bringing the group to the Shady label. And that the gathering of Em and the guys at the shoot, is the first of more collaborations to come.

For now, Eminem is working on Relapse II, in Detroit. Joe is working on The Great Escape. Royce is preparing his Oct. release, StreetHop. Crooked I is working on an EP called Mr. Pig Face Weapon Waist (lol!). And Slaughterhouse will be on the road with TechN9ne for all of Oct and Nov. But fans all want to see Em plus Slaughter on a track (especially Em and Royce). Imagine the killer verse volleys!

Hopefully we’ll see some progress on this Shady/Slaughterhouse “rumor” in the next few months. It’s good for hiphop.
