After the Mustang Forest… we got the Mustang Ranch, and it can be yours for $700.000 (well if it ain’t sold already that is).

It’s a shame to see such a collection of fine cars rot away, anyway here’s the story on how it was discovered by a reader of Jalopnik:

“I have just returned from a vacation somewhere tropical. On the way back form a day excursion I chose an alternate way back to the highway. Ok, I made wrong turn somewhere and rolled with it. This "scenic route" brought us upon what was recorded by these images. It was my wife who first saw them. "Oh look, Mustangs!" I turned my head in time to see a metric shitload of vintage ponies. I immediately turned around and pulled into the driveway. There was a gentleman in the yard who turned out to be the caretaker for the owner of the house/treasure trove. It turns out that the guy who collected all these cars recently succumbed to cancer and his wife wants all these pretty ponies sold en masse for what is by local standards the princely sum of $700 large (I think there plenty of room for negotiation here).”

Just a quick post to tell you guys that we’re adding on to our family!

Not a baby clearly.  Cause I have been told pregnancy makes your shoes not fit.  Saving babies for when I need an excuse for new shoes.

Nope, we’re getting a dog!

Meet Shelby!

(I was holding a baby while taking this picture.  We’re lucky I got it.  It’s the only one that turned out decent)

Shelby currently lives with my cousin, her husband, her 2 year old, and her 1 month old baby.

Two small people means Shelby is not getting as much love and attention and she’d like.

So once the fiance and my cousin’s husband get a fence built, Shelby will be living with us!

She’s a six (almost seven) year old Australian Shepard.  She’s also kinda spastic.

Well, more than kinda.

But hopefully in the next month or so we’ll get a fence built, and have this crazy furry ball of energy running around our house.

Some details have been leaked about the 2011 Ford Mustang.

Customers will be able to order it starting from January 18, 2010, and it will begin production on March 15, 2010.

There will be a California Special variant as well as an SVT Performance package, which will include 19-inch wheels, an RR spoiler, “Over the Top” stripes (Not quite sure what these stripes look like) and a limited slip differential. Other options include a Brembo Brake package, a six-speed automatic transmission and three new 19-inch wheels.

The next Shelby GT500 will continue using the 5.4L V8, this time all-aluminum though.

We’ll hear more details about the car once it’s revealed at the LA Auto Show this December.

Classic Recreations has announced plans for the G.T.500CR, a 1967 Shelby continuation vehicle. We have been engaged on a large database transition for a client of ours and it is nearing completion. I thought it would be good to tell the world a little bit about what we did!

Our client,one of the largest church organizations in the state of Indiana, is required  to report statistical data such as attendance, baptisms, and tithes.  Their business management application is available for internal use only.  They approached WDD to make their database Web Accessible to their Churches and Districts.  We achieved their vision through an ASP.net / C# website using both a custom database and the business management database located at the Conference.

Our client, which is regional to Southern Indiana has been going through some organizational change and will be merging with the Northern Indiana Region. As a result of this change, they need to have their two independent systems and databases work together. They are currently on a system called Shelby, which is a system used predominantly by churches and not-for-profit organizations. The problem they encountered is joining two different databases from the two regions and having them map correctly without manual input. WDD has provided the technology to automatically merge their two databases based on a mapping scheme provided.

WDD has been engaged on this project since 2006.

With the Mustang, Ford is in possession of a very valuable property: a modern car with soul and character. Think about it: the vast majority of car companies these days make all of their models with uniform styling features. It’s even hard to distinguish between different cars of the same class these days.

It’s for this reason I’ve developed a bit of a soft spot for this retro macho machine, especially the hotted up versions that companies like Shelby and now RTR are putting out. The Mustang is a car that hasn’t forgotten what it’s about and is the only pony car in the US which has had a continuous production line back to the 1960s.

If Friday the 13th is unlucky, then 2009 has been an unusually unlucky year. But your luck is about to change. Today is the last of three Friday the 13ths you’ll have to endure this year. The other two were in February and March. Such a rare triple-threat occurs only once every 11 years.

The origin of the link between bad luck and Friday the 13th is murky. The whole thing might date to Biblical times (the 13th guest at the Last Supper betrayed Jesus). By the Middle Ages, both Friday and the number 13 were considered bearers of bad fortune. In modern times, the superstition permeates society.

Here are five of our favorite Friday-the-13th facts:
1. Fear of Friday the 13th – one of the most popular myths in science – is called paraskavedekatriaphobia as well as friggatriskaidekaphobia. Triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number 13.

2. Many hospitals have no room 13, while some tall buildings skip the 13th floor and some airline terminals omit Gate 13.

3. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would not travel on the 13th day of any month and would never host 13 guests at a meal. Napoleon and President Herbert Hoover were also triskaidekaphobic, with an abnormal fear of the number 13.

4. Mark Twain once was the 13th guest at a dinner party. A friend warned him not to go. “It was bad luck,” Twain later told the friend. “They only had food for 12.” Superstitious diners in Paris can hire a quatorzieme, or professional 14th guest.

5. Meanwhile the belief that numbers are connected to life and physical things – called numerology – has a long history.

“You can trace it all the way from the followers of Pythagoras, whose maxim to describe the universe was ‘all is number,’” says Mario Livio, an astrophysicist and author of “The Equation That Couldn’t Be Solved” (Simon & Schuster, 2005). Thinkers who studied under the famous Greek mathematician combined numbers in different ways to explain everything around them, Livio said.

Boss: Ok, the irony is that “fear of long words” is in itself an insanely long word. The poor person who has it is going to FREAK OUT each time they have to tell someone what it is that they are afraid of.

Rumours have been going around that Ford may be developing an EcoBoost V8 Shelby Mustang.

This would be quite interesting to see, as the EcoBoost V6 in the Taurus SHO, with some tuning, could easily put out 600hp. So imagine the radical power an EcoBoost V8 could produce.

If EcoBoost doesn’t mean anything to you, put it this way: a twin-turbo, direct injected V8. The engine modified to use EcoBoost would be the 5.0L Coyote V8.

I’d be interested in seeing this, so long as they don’t just shove the engine into a Mustang and leave the suspension alone. I like my car to handle well, not just go quickly in a straight line.

Sobre Mustangs e Sonhos

Olá leitores, tudo maisoumenos bem?

Hoje eu vou escrever sobre o Crème de la crème dos meus desejos, o mais bonito, brilhante e potente dos meus sonhos: o Mustang.

Algumas pessoas sonham com Ferraris, barcos, sobrados,filhos, casamentos, eu sonho com um Mustang.

E acho que a minha vida ficou mais colorida e alegre depois que me apaixonei (yes, i folling in love). A nossa história de amor é meio bizarra. Eu odeio novelas, mas segundo o regime totalitarista que impera lá em casa (e do qual minha mãe é a ditadora), eu sou obrigada a participar de sessões diarias de tortura, traduzindo: sou obrigada a assistir três novelas.Leitor, eu odeio novela. Acho que o única serventia da novela é emburrecer a massa.Novela não adiciona nada de bom, e a unica coisa que fica são os bordões (hare baba, num é brinquedo não, e afins). Mããããs, no longínquo ano de 2008, em mais uma sessão de tortura,eis que um vilãozinho de fala mansa e chicletinho nojento ( um tal de Dodi, numa tal de “a favorita”), aparece em cena. Qual o carro do malandro??Mustang. Foi paixão á primeira vista. Logo que terminou o capítulo, fui á mãe dos burro (a internet), e pesquisei, pesquisei até encontrá-lo.Desde então minha vida tem sido mais colorida e feliz.

Mãããs como vocês não estão interessados no meu testemunho, vamos ao que interessa: Mustang!

O Mustang, assim como o Dodge Viper, o Camarro, e uns tantos outros é um muscle car (carro musculoso).

Por que esse nome? Por que ele é grande,tem linhas arredondadas, um capô saltado pra guardar todo aquele motor incrível e uma frente agressiva.

Bom, como como eu tenho certeza que vocês não estão interessados num texto longo, vou tentar resumir o maximo possivel a história dessa maravilha do mundo moderno.

O mustang começou a ser produzido em Dearborn , Michigan no começo de 1964 e apresentado ao público em 17 de abril de 1964 durante a New York World’s Fair (feira do futuro, um lugar onde mostravam-se como seria o mundo dai 20 ou 30 anos, coisa de gringo).

Mas Vivien, Mustang não é uma raça de cavalo? Isso isso isso, mas o nome deriva de outra coisa… De um caça usado na segunda guerra mundial!! O Mustang P-51.

Mustang Carro, e Mustang Avião

O mustang é um carro lindo por que? Por que não tem a aparência clássica de um super esportivo, tem um design invoacado, agressivo, e as linhas arredondadas são harmoniosas.

Mas o que importa, pra mim e pra você, com certeza não esta a vista, e sim encoberto pelo capô: o motor.

O motor do Mustang é indescritivel. Eu tive a chance a algumas semanas atrás, de parar ao lado de uma lindeza dessas no farol, um fastback 72 laranja com faxias brancas.

Foi um desses que fez meu coração quase sair pela boca dias atrás ^^

Como você com certeza sabe, o nosso opala comodoro foi (descaradamente copiado) inspirado no Fastback.

Como o título já sugere, eu vou falar de uma edição do Mustang em especial, a que junto com a Fastback faz meu coração bater mais forte: O shelby GT 500. Ahh você não sabe o por que do Shelby do nome? Calma, eu te explico… Carrol Shelby tem 85 anos e é ex criador de galinhas. Tá eokiko? Eokiko que ele é o responspavel pelo mustang como nós conhecemos hoje. Ele trabalhou no aperfeiçoamento e nas melhorias de quase todos os muscle cars. No inicio ele era piloto de corridas, depois de uma cirurgia no coração, ele começou a trabalhar na parte de desenvolvimento dos carros. Sabe as listras do Mustang?Um dia o Carrol tinha uma corrida e não teve tempo de trocar seu uniforme da granja, então ele correu, ganhou e como ele disse que as litras deram sorte, colocou-as no carro também.

Mas então, os dados do Mustang Shelby GT 500 são os seguintes: Motor de ferro fundido V8 , que conta com um megalimentador do tipo parafuso pra dar conta da sede do beberrão, com trocador de calor intermediario e com trocador de ar e água que força o ar dos pistões dentro do cilindro cada um com quatro válvulas. Possui uma espetacular transmissão manual de seis marchas com espaço de marchas uniforme, com isso consegue aguentar sua força, pois ela é uma transmissão testada e comprovada em corridas, sendo assim, ela trabalha até com folga com este motor, já que nas ruas estragadas do Brasil, você não vai poder ir até o limite de potência dessa belezinha, que alcança inacreditáveis 356 km/h. Como forma de homenagem aos Mustangs mais antigos, ele tem aberturas (respiradouros) no capô, que retiram o calor do compartimento do motor e o aerofólio traseiro é uma referência aos primeiros Shelby. O carro possui duas saidas no escapamento, o que permite que o motor trabalhe melhor e faz com que esse V8 anuncie sua chegada ainda mais longe rsrs.

Nosso carro conta com uma suspensão MacPherson independente, com braços de controle inferiores em L invertido, sustenta a extremidade dianteira, enquanto um eixo sólido de três articulações escora a traseira, auxiliado por uma barra Panhard, para impedir o movimento lateral. As barras estabilizadoras dianteira e traseira ajudam a minimizar a rolagem da carroceria. Os freios Brembo (na minha opinião só os brembo conseguem parar essa fera) melhoram a dirigibilidade, com discos de 356 mm e quatro pistões na dianteira e discos de 300 mm e pistão único na traseira, conectados ao sistema ABS do carro. As rodas de alumínio de 18 polegadas (457 mm) alojam pneus P255/45ZR e P285/40ZR de alto desempenho, e um sistema de direção hidráulica de cremalheira e pinhão fecha o pacote. Bom desculpem me por mais um texto gigante, mas o Mustang é disparado o meu carro favorito! Ele e os Lamborghini são o que há de melhor pra mim nesse mundão de carros e carroças!
