But so uh, as quickly as me and Brian’s adventures began (I let a man know where I live for shit sake….that’s like…kind of a big deal) they ended fairly quickly. Before I explain why, I’ll say it was fun having him around. Despite my non-traditional lifestyle, he made me feel tame…domesticated if you will. It was like I had all day to rip and run and act a damn donkey…but when he called, everything stopped and I was on my best behavior. He was verrrrrry intuitive…no matter how well I hid my thoughts or emotions, he was able to figure me out. And he was sensitive!!! Not soft. BUT, I finally met someone more sensitive than me. LOL, it was a learning experience cause I had never dated a Cancer. Hmmm…

But it ended because simply put, Sandy’s male roommate (one of Brian’s best friends) went ape shit and lost his damn mind one day…he all of a sudden had a problem with me, and it pushed me to end my friendship with Sandy…and later with Brian. Chillin though…cause like I said, I never let the wall down so there’s no feeling of loss. Don’t get me wrong, I miss hanging out, and receiving phone calls throughout the day that made co-workers wanna listen in cause they were jealous. I miss his back rubs…and how affectionate he was. Not the typical cake stuff either…the weird gestures that only a girl like me would appreciate. )

This is a phrase that is usually spoken by the women who love us when a new man enters our lives.. Why?

We have lists (whether written or in the mind) of what we require and want from men, these lists usually consist of qualities such as: intelligent, funny, goal-oriented, attractive, good in bed* or wealthy..

Many of us are blessed enough to meet a man who possesses many of the qualities we are fond of.. He meets our lists.. But does he meet the heart?!

The problem with the list os that we bulletpoint qualities that are ideal, negating the fact the ideal qualities do not guarantee love and happiness..

This list is a recompilation keeping in mind the people’s magazine survey. Thus this is not a personal opinion but the people’s opinion. Selecting the top 10 sexiest men in the world might be bit difficult because there are too many! you too might be considering yourself to be one among them just kidding. Scientist feel that the sexiness of a person is likely to increase more along with his success. So don’t wonder if you see most successful people in the list. Here goes the top 10 sexiest men in the world alive!

10. Shemar Moore

On the tenth position of top 10 sexiest men list we have Shemar Moore. Born on 20th April 1970 in Oakland, Shemar graduated from Santa Clara University. Shemar started his acting career right from 1971 as a child actor! I wonder how many girls found him sexy that time . He was seen in the TV series “Soul Train”. After that he took a break only to appear again in 1994 in the TV serial “Circus of the Stars Goes to Disneyland”. And from then on he has appeared in many TV serials and has been recognized world wide. Shemar has totally won 8 awards and has been nominated 9 more times. He has scored very big with the Spanish TV serials and Spanish movies. Everyone knows that Spanish gentlemen are generally treated sexy. Thus this guy is no special exception. As of now Javier Barden happen to have 3 films in pipeline. What gets me about this guy is the sheer number of awards he has won in his lifetime. Top 8th among the top 10 sexiest men in the world is no one other than the Legend! because he is legend. I’m sure I don’t have to explain as to why Will Smith must be among the sexiest. We all have seen how he saves the kitten when killer robot was at his back in iRobot! keeping that apart, born on 25th September 1968 in Philadelphia Will Smith happens to be multi talented chap. Well on the 7th slot of top 10 sexiest men in the world, we have Dave Annable, born on 15th September 1979 in New York, and he had his childhood in Walden. Success of Dave is very recent. In fact he got well noticed from the show that aired in 2005 on FOX named Reunion. He actually started making it big in the year 2006 when he got the permanent role in the serial Brothers & Sisters aired on ABC channel. And for the people who hate college, Dave dropped out of college and finished his diploma from SUNY very very recently, on 15th may 2009. May be this is one more factor which adds to his sexiness. So guys the moral is very clear. Drop out of college and then later finish it after a long gap! you’re sure to be noticed. That was our 7th guy among the top 10 sexiest men in the world.

6. Johnny Depp

6th on the list of top 10 sexiest men list, we have Johnny Depp. I hope the list would change once the Public Enemies reaches every corner of the world. Born on 9th June 1963 in Owensboro, Johny Depp became know world wide from his character “Jack Sparrow” in the Pirates of the Carribean. It is a fact that all the films that have featured Johny have grossed more than 4 billion dollars worldwide. Johnny Depp has won 3 Oscars and has won other 34 awards and has been nominated for 48 awards. He also became popular because of the serial aired on Fox channel, “21 Jump street”. And I believe he became very sexier with the pirates of the Caribbean and he’ll also be seen in the upcoming “Alice in Wonderland”.

Guess who just got sexier among the top 10 sexiest men in the world? Yeah! that’s right! Our “Wanted” guy. I didn’t know that dodging bullets would make one sexy! (I should start learning it). We’ve all seen James coupled with Angelina Jolie pulling off some cool action flicks in “wanted”. Born on 21st April 1979 in Scotland James got his first role in “The Near Room” in 1995 and went on to star in Regeneration. His drama serial Shameless won him comedy awards. He took off with his film The “Last King of Scotland”. And here is a quick info.. He was nominated for the best kiss award for the movie “wanted”. To whom does the sexiest lady on earth go to? 4th among the top 10 sexiest men in the world? Hmm.. May be that is one reason why he has come down in the sexiest list. If Brad were alone, I believe he’d have been the top 1. But look at all those girls (and guys too) who still find him sexy!. Born on 18th December 1963 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, he was raised in Springfield. His early acting began in “Dallas” right from 1987 (gosh! I was just born in that year). He found himself recognized when he took the role of supporting actor in twelve monkeys. But his breakthrough came when people found him in Fight club and Ocean’s series. And try not to forget the Benjamin Button! It swept the 2009 Oscars!. Brad both acts and Produces and does Husbandry for Jolie too! Way to go Brad!. So that was the top 4th sexiest man among the top ten sexiest people.

3. Ryan Reynolds

Oh come on! who says you should have Oscars and Armani to be sexy! look at the 3rd boy among the top 10 sexiest men in the world, Ryan; he doesn’t have that long tailed career, but yet has climbed up to the 3rd spot. How? looks does matter!. Born on October 23, 1976, has been ever since noticed as one of the brilliant Canadian TV actor ( majorly “Two guys and a girl”). He was born in Vancouver. Ryan began his career in the movies in 1993 with the “Ordinary Magic”. Ryan has been better noticed by the comedy roles that he has played, although he acted in the horror movie “The Amityville horror”. And we definitely saw how sexy he looked in the X men origins! Too bad he recently got himself a partner. Ryan stands 3rd among the top 10 sexiest men in the world.!

2. Patrick Dempsey

Who is running behind just one position among the top ten sexiest men in the whole world?? answer is Patrick! Born on 1966 Jan 13 in Lewiston was raised in Buckfield. What many people know about him is the fact that he is a race driver. Now how sexy is that! who doesn’t find the people with leather sexy? Dempsey appeared first on Torch Song Triology, and since then his career has been going upwards. Patrick has also been a great icon on the TV shows. Proof? Go watch Grey’s Anatomy which airs even today on ABC channel. If you don’t know ABC pays him 225000$ for every episode that he does in Grey’s Anatomy. Now that’s something really worth looking and counting at (vice versa?). He has won 2 Golden Globe awards and 4 other awards and 9 nominations. Now who gets to be the sexiest? The one who has bullet marks on his back and has forgotten his name? what? what was I writing? Yeah! Bourne Jason gets to be the sexiest man in the world! I’m sure I don’t have to explain you why he has to be the sexiest. Just grab Bourne series and cup it up with “The Departed” and the Oceans series, and what do you have? THE SEXIEST MAN IN THE WORLD! Born on 8th October 1970 in Boston, Jason has a long list of career successes to boast about. He got his break from the movie “Goodwill hunting”. The movie did sweep the box office and got Jason.. I mean Matt loads of awards and nominations. Then came his hit movies Fallen Angel and Stuck on You which too got him lot of credits. Matt has lots of movie coming this and the next year. All in all the conclusion is that the dark and amnesic characters are more prone to be sexy. I still wonder where did DeCaprio go? and what about Hugh Jackman? Anyways that was our top 1 sexiest man.

The SON commnunity has been having  a wonderful discussion about diversity stemming from Christel Khalil’s interview.   I thought I would post some ‘final thoughts’ (HA!) about the matter:

YnR writers aren’t writing ‘color blind’ storylines, in my opinion. I would love to believe that CK’s Lily is the perfect example of  ‘post racial’ storyline telling.  It would make sense if it were true of all storylines regarding all characters.  As it stands, only Lily is the ‘integrated character’… and for what reason?  To what end?  Not in the history of daytime has any non-minority character shared screen time almost exclusively with minority characters, to the exclusion of all other non-minority characters.  That’s not ‘integration’.  That’s not ‘color blind’ storytelling.  I think it’s a travesty and it sells the audience short to think we wouldn’t notice.

Bear with me as I do something I rarely do in this blog, at least, and that’s comment on my perceptions of an actor’s talent.   I find the writers pushing CK’s Lily to the exclusion of almost all other multicultural characters especially  troubling because, in my opinion, I find CK’s performances LIFELESS!  I honest to goodness don’t know how anyone avoids holding a mirror to her face to check for breathing whenever she’s not speaking.  Her inflections feel wrong in pretty much every scene and I think her acting choices leave A LOT to be desired.  I think CK’s Lily sucks the breath out of every scene she’s in.   Any male paired with her becomes the same walking sleeping pill she is.

Kristoff St. John probably whizzes away more talent after a stiff drink than CK will ever have – pardon the coarse expression. Victoria Rowell could sleepwalk and do a better job.  Yet, neither actor is around to do a darned thing, with the exception of KSJ’s far too infrequent appearances, because the writers seem to believe that their ‘diversity standard’ is set by Lily and that the diversity the Winters family once provided is no longer needed.

The Winters as a family was beloved and embraced by fans because they were authentic in representing the spectrum of life that most families have, including African-American family-  Bless Bill Bell for knowing that and giving us:

• Neil, straight-laced high achieving all around good guy.   He is sometimes a little too impressed with the sound of his own voice and his own magnificence, but he means well.
• Dru, reformed from her bad girl days, criminal record, rejected child acting out.  She was a screwed up child who became an extraordinary woman.  I could EASILY cut away three or more characters from YnR to have her back… EASILY.  She was worth every one of them PLUS!
• Olivia, another high achieving privileged first born.  Olivia was  a bit of a judgmental prig and the thought that Liv and Neil would have eventually gotten together was enough to make me shudder.  They would have been daytime’s first African-American stuporcouple.
• Malcolm, wild child, playboy/sexgod/work in progress and still a man with a good heart.  I never knew whether to root for him to be redeemed or for him to continue on in his naughty naughty ways!
• Mamie, loving and devoted aunt, not a lot of money or education, but she’s gives all the right things. She takes in the unwanted, unloved Dru and helps her turn her life around.  When the writers focused on her relationship with Dru and Liv, she was the middle class version of ‘Auntie Mame‘.
• Nate, a good guy who had a rough start in life but turned everything around.    Nate had ‘rootability’ from the beginning, in my book.  He had to be Dru’s hero, and I’m glad that he was.  Each of us probably knows a RL ‘Nate’, a man who took back his life and ‘made good’.
• I’m still wishing for ‘Little Nate’s’ return.  I wonder what he would make of his family, now.
• And now Devon rounds out the family (not sure if he was Bill Bell’s creation or not, but I’m glad he’s on board).   College student, survivor, a little screwed up, but he completes the family.

Nate Sr. has died, Malcolm is off in the world,  and I have no idea where Mamie is (forgot).  Devon and Neil are occasionally  seen.
Everyone else? Traded in and we’re left with  LILY.
What a slap!

Regarding MarkH’s insightful question of whether Dru’s presence made  Olivia’s introduction possible?  Was Olivia more acceptable because of Dru?

Dru wasn’t the ‘default standard’, for me. I loved the way the two sisters complemented one another. I wouldn’t have wanted EITHER woman, alone. Liv, the accomplished doctor, who was still a little too ’sorority girl’ (along with Ashley – they were so sappy sweet together, I developed cavities when they were on screen together). Then there was Dru, the street kid.

Dru was never ‘good enough’ for her mother.  Her mother never wanted to have another child after the perfect LIV and didn’t so much as notice that her daughter couldn’t read.   Liv was the heir, Dru was the spare. It’s such a classic ‘family’ story (not just “African-American” story) and it was wonderful to see these two sisters play off of one another, genuinely loving one another but being divided by the strife their mother created.

Minorities/underrepresented groups so rarely get to have the balanced portrayals that non-minority groups do that we’re caught struggling with our feelings about the few characters who are supposed to represent us.  Drucilla alone feels like a cruel joke – daytime writers once again indulging their fantasies about who black women are. Olivia alone feels somewhat like a different kind of repudiation of culture (much like Lily). Bill Bell was master enough to appreciate that and I think he really understood that in both simple and complex ways that the current YnR writers are ignorant of, or seem to be.

OLTL writers ” got it” and provided balance with the ‘good sib’ and the ‘troubled sib’. It’s how they wrote: Nate and RJ Gannon, and Cristian and Antonio (as well as Vicki and Todd, and Natalie and Jessica).

Over the course of the week, I watched four movies. And it never fails that I want those two hours back. That is exactly what happened in “Southland Tales.” I swear, I swear I don’t know what was going on in that movie. It opens with some kids with a camera shooting footage at a barbeque. As the boys are shooting, through a window there appears to be an atomic looking explosion. People run outside to see what’s going on and this voiceover begins. All the time I am hearing this person talk, I keep thinking he sounds way to familiar and it turns out to be Justin Timberlake.

Timberlake plays Private Pilot Abilene who seems to be scoping out the Los Angeles perched atop a turret with binoculars.  Timberlake makes an attempt to tell World World War III over oil between Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria and North Korea began. Stories about how Americans need a passport just to travel from state to another are told. Timberlake also talk about how Los Angeles came to be very political time which centers on Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson (Boxer Santaros/Jericho Cane) who is kidnapped by a political group and turns up in the desert. Due to being held captive Johnson is confused about who is really is—either Boxer Santaros or Jericho Cane (a character he created for a script). If that isn’t confusing enough, once Santaros is free he shacks up with porn star Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar). Krysta has a reality show with more porn stars and song that makes an attempt to excuse teenage horniness. I forgot to mention that Santaros is married to political darling Madeline Frost Santaros (portrayed by Mandy Moore). I am assuming this is the A story.

Meanwhile Zora Charmichaels (Cheri Oteri) is part of the Neo-Marxist group and seems to have an agenda to overthrow “the man” and has teamed up with Dion Element and Dream (Wood Harris and Amy Poehler). They have kidnapped Roland Taverner (Seann William Scott) who is impersonating his cop twin brother (or is he).  Something happens and then I became disinterested.

There’s something about space and time and blah blah blah. But according to “Doctor Who” and “Back to the Future” something things that happened in this movie shouldn’t have happened.

“Southland Tales” made me wonder because I didn’t understand. It wasn’t event that deep. But then I started to wonder if I would have to watch it again like I did with “The Matrix” and “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Rings?” This time there is a huge difference—I don’t want to. I don’t want to figure it out.

I did devote some time to a series. Can I call it a series? There were only two movies —“Motives” and “Motives 2: Retribution.”  I actually thought a couple of things when I saw these movies: Why is this considered a black movie? There are characters who are non black. “Disturbia” wasn’t called a white movie, while there were non-white characters (who were incredibly important to the story and not advertised).  The last good original script I can remember was “The Sixth Sense.” So why would this movie get little attention for its love triangle theme? How many have come out already this year? These movies had a beginning, middle and an end. I can appreciate that.

In “Motives” Emery Simms (Shemar Moore) is powerful married to Constance (Vivica A. Fox.) and has a roving eye. Allannah James (Golden Brooks) caught his eye and they began a relationship which results in a pregnancy. Emery is having a string of bad luck because besides the unexpected pregnancy, the cops are following him because a business associate is found dead. Things become worse for Emery when Constance finds out about the pregnancy and Allannah is later found murdered. Emery is prosecuted and sends the rest of his life in jail.

This is where “Motives 2: Retribution” picks the rest of the story. While in jail Emery is murdered and he leaves behind stock in his company to his brother Donovan Cook (Brian White). Donovan finds out that Emery was framed and sets out to clear his brother’s name. Most of the actors like Vivca A. Fox, Mel Jackson, Joe Torry, Sean Blakemore and William L. Johnson reprise their roles. But there is an added Constance being married to Emery’s best friend Brandon Collier (Blakemore), something is a little different about Detective Morgan (Jackson).

“Dough Boys” was my second movie in a week with Wood Harris who portrayed dope dealing Julian France. France has eyes all over the street and was a little upset when small time hustlers Smooth (Cory Hardict), Long Cuz (Lorenzo Eduardo), Cory (Arlen Escarpeta) and Black (Mo) break into his storage space.

Don’t get it twisted, this movie did not have the production budget similiar to movies like “Casino,” “Blow” or “The 25th Hour.”  I enjoyed the movie because I understood Cory’s life and how his girlfriend Toni (Kerisse Hutchinson) and the neighborhood mailman (Gabriel Casseus) attempted to introduce a way out for him. I also saw how Beauty (Reagan Gomez) saw that Cory was looking to get out and would help whenever she could. As the movie went on, its characters began to remind me of the movie “Set It Off.”

For the last three movies, all I can say is that simple is always good.

Now I did have some disagreements with this list..I thought some of the numbers coulda been switched around a lil bit. And then some of the people they included, I thought it was a little bit far fetched to call them actors/actresses like Lisa Raye.I couldnt believe they put Leon on there..ole dude that was in the Five Heartbeats…that negro look like Rickey Smiley.  But overall, I really enjoyed this list bc they included some old school actors/actresses that paved the way for the Meagan Goods and Denzels today..And with not only their good looks, but also their talent, would really put today’s Black Hollywood to shame.

This past weekend while riding his bike in L.A. the actor was hit by a car, but luckily he only suffered a broken leg.  So no worries because I am sure he is still looking as good as ever.  Get well soon Shemar!!!

Actor Shemar Moore was hit by a car while riding his bycicle in L.A. Saturday.

TMZ has confirmed “Criminal Minds” actor Shemar Moore was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in L.A. on Saturday.

A rep for Moore — who once dated Halle Berry — tells us the actor was rushed to a local hospital and treated for a broken leg.

We’re told Shemar is fine otherwise and is currently recuperating at his home.
