Lo reconozco, siento debilidad por los pasajeros del vuelo 815 de Oceanic Airlines. Desde que se estrelló su avión y comenzaron a montar el primer campamento, yo ya estaba especulando sobre lo que pasaría. Pero cuando conocimos al doctor Jack Shephard… no tuve dudas en ningún momento: Iba a volverme loca por esta serie. ¡Y así ha sido!

Recuerdo perfectamente detalles del primer capitulo de la serie y eso que no he vuelto a verlo desde entonces. Tengo en mente a Claire embarazadísima y descolocada, al misterioso a primera (y a segunda) vista John Locke, a Michael y el pequeño Walt, el “enmonado” Charlie, el desconfiado Sayid… ¿Quién podía predecir en esa primera toma de contacto la que se iba a liar más adelante? No podíamos imaginar la de personajes nuevos que íbamos a conocer y las aventuras e historias increíbles (y siempre entrelazadas) que nos iban a traer. Así conocimos a Nathan y también a Ana Lucía ¿La recordáis? Luego vinieron Juliet y Benjamín Linus (que acabó siendo simplemente Ben), y muchos otros personajes que ahora se quedan en el tintero pero que rescataremos y comentaremos en próximos post.¡ Ni he nombrado a Kate y a Swayer! pero habrá tiempo para ellos y para Hurley, Sun y los demás.

Mientras tanto los que seáis tan frikis como yo, los que nunca jugaríais en la lotería los números 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 y 42 por lo que pueda pasar, los que al escuchar hablar de la Estación Orquídea no pensáis en nuevo periodo primaveral ni en un centro de esquí…. Os estaréis TIRANDO DE LOS PELOS esperando la tan anunciada Sexta Temporada, que no podremos ver hasta Enero de 2010. Por primera vez la serie se estrenará simultáneamente en todos los países para evitar así posibles filtraciones que quiten emoción al capítulo final, que se proyectará en los cines de todo el mundo para sorpresa de los fans.

¿Qué mejor despedida que poder disfrutar ese último coletazo de la serie en pantallón de cine y rodeados de fanáticos del mundo DHARMA?

Anger often renders viscous consequences to those who have not control of it but instead are subject to its control. Throughout the course of my life, I have acquired great portions of reason and instruction in the elements of anger. Very few, throughout this time, have ever addressed it with such clarity as has the Bible’s array of lessons. And while I was introduced to the Bible at an early age, my foundations were scattered elsewhere, and therefore, the great ushering unto the Holy Word’s wisdom was primarily left untouched until my current quest, which is strengthened be a dutiful wife and church as well as a carefully assembled environment that I continually tend to as a gardener to his garden, weeding it of foul elements and encouraging that which is good to rise up in its life of glory.

This morning, as I overheard the lesson, I aimed my eyes wanderously upon the wall, while my hands worked the computer on monotonous task. I listened intently. The crux of instruction at hand was our son’s home school session, of which I was inadvertently aware of. For a moment, I glanced over at the five-year-old, his eyes razor sharp with intent, fixated upon the heart of his instruction, as it transitioned from spelling, into elements of grammar, history, wisdom and the very Word of God, as exists in Genesis Chapter 4, whereby the story of two brothers unfold, Cain and Abel.

As I listened, my eyes again wandered, unfocused and agape into the vastness of disassociation to the heart of my very quest, which held fast at the orated word eminating from Bible through the vessel of my wife’s lips. And as the chapter in history called to a close, my eyes began to take reigns once again of my surroundings with increasing focus, and there upon the wall, side by side, were two sisters, who themeselves are engaged in a highly similar circumstance of life as referenced in today’s lesson.

Well, if you are aware of whom I may be speaken, then behold this on behalf of those youth, and if not, your life will still be the better for reading God’s Word. And as a man, I understand full well the righteousness of a righteous anger but likewise understand through life experience its detrimental impact upon men, families, companies and even nations of the world.

She barely scratch the surface of the surface of progressive thinking. But, at least she is not protecting anything republican and conservative these days. She admitted her dislike for Ann Coulter, who I hate so much that I am starting to like her. Now, she is taking a stand against the “lying sack of dog crap” shit-starter Glen Beck, who this half-white Obama is racist against “white culture.” What the hell is white culture? That’s Nazi-speak to me. I mean, that’s verging on some Ku Klux Klan bullshit.

So this game was a long time coming for me. I don’t quite understand how I hadn’t got my hands on it earlier. I mean, BioWare is involved and I had read articles stating its similarity to Knights of the Old Republic, both games I loved unconditionally. One of my old room mates had rented the game and I watched him play it for a little bit. I thought it looked bland, only seeing him drive around in the Mako, maybe equip a character or two. I remember thinking the characters looked bland and boring. I walked out of the room a few minutes later.

Then, another room mate, a future one, also picked it up and played it. I didn’t even watch him play it. I only remember him saying that he saved his games a hundred or so times and remember thinking that I had to be somewhere and how it almost passed as white noise. It wasn’t until another friend, and former roommate of mine, also picked up the game and started playing it that I decided to see what it was all about.

What the hell was I thinking? This game is brilliant. Tops. Stupendous. Rockenomonal and several other adjectives describing how favorable something is. I can’t believe I’ve missed out on it. It plays very similar to the KotOR games, even better. More refined. The voice acting is awe inspiring, the best I’ve seen in any video game, and the gesticulation and character action makes me understand all the bad talk Fallout 3 gets for its stiff characters. Mass Effect climbed up the ranks to be one of my top ranked games, just below Ocarina of Time, Earthbound, and a few others. But we don’t need all this. There’s tons of aritcles telling you how great this game is. I’m here only to share my experience.

As of now I’ve completed the game twice, one as a paragon, and one as a renegade. My characters are as follows:

Trent Shephard – Level 52 Paragon Adept (Nemesis) Earthborn Survivor           |             Park Shepard – Level 38 Renegade Soldier Colonial War Hero

Trent never learned how to keep his eyes open in front of a camera.

Now I know what you’re thinking. It looks like Park is just Trent with longer hair– however I assure you the opposite. Thare are many subtle details that define the two. Scar location, facial hair, package size etc. etc… it could also very well be an alternate timeline/dimension of Trent who was then named Park and became an asshole in part thereof.

Now I’ve always gone “light side” in these types of games, both KotOR’s, both Fables, both Black and Whites. I’ve found that most times it’s harder when you try to be light instead of dark. But anyone who plays light first is almost certain to do play the game again as dark. That’s when you’ve officially saved the world and/or universe you live in from the bad guys while simultaneously getting the girl amd winning the favor of those around you. The second time around you kill said girl and said people over and over in some sort of twisted time loop. As you could guess, it’s more fun the second time around.

With Mass Effect it isn’t so much light and dark as it is boy scout and morally grey emotionally passive bad ass willing to get the job done who  makes faces like this the entire game-

So if you’ve yet to make a stance on whether to play as Renegade or Paragon, I’ve just made your decision for you.

As far as classes go I played as polar opposites. The run-n’-gun soldier who runs, shoots, melees his way to his death count or the hide n’ seek adept who makes entire rooms of baddies drift harmlessly through the air while taking popshots with his pistol while simultaneously winning a chess and horseshoes game against Garrus and Kaiden respectively.

Adept is fun, but not easy. Singularity is nice, as is throw, but I died more than I’d like to on the normal difficulty setting. As a soldier I died at least half as many times as my first go around on the insanity difficulty setting, though you could chock that up to the awareness of a previous play through. So, who did I enjoy more?

Now, the plot is great. No real great boss battles, Saren was a push over. But by and far one of the most revolutionary parts of this game is the romance sub-plots between either A) Smokin’ hot Ashley Williams or B) Clumsy cute Liara. Now, as my play through with Paragon and my first play through the game I talked to all my crew members after every mission, every time. I think it was because I talked to Liara before I’d talk with Ashley that Ashley would get upset and Liara would come onto me later. Look, Liara is a nice girl… or… whatever the Asari are– but I have to admit this wasn’t the outcome I was hoping for. As my friend so succinctly put it, “Get outta here E.T.”

The second time through as a renegade the only crew mate I bothered talking to was Ashley Williams, ignoring Liara completely even after her mother’s death. This, as planned, prompted the scene I had hoped for. But I have to admit feeling a bit let down when the scene finally hit. And I felt ripped off when Ashley’s time was cut in half in comparison to Liara’s screen time– Liara got a whole ‘nother scene for christ sake! I also felt jipped at the lack of distinction between the two sex scenes to begin with.

In the future all female bodies are identical and only come with an optional palette swap.

And here’s Liara’s added bonus:

Bloody disappointing. I believe every man playing this game was hoping for Ashley and the realization that Liara being a better lover is kind of disillusioning. Like maybe human beings shouldn’t be on the council.

Nah, Ashley was totally better. Hopefully this mistake is made up for in the sequel.

Mass Effect is ahead of it’s time, hopefully this game will usher in a more realistic era of games where sex with women may be a possibility in the virtual world, to which one can only hope to take it one step further and achieve it within reality. You know who you are.

This man seems happy with his life at the moment that I took his photo on the edges of the Great Thar Desert in Rajasthan.  A shephard of sheep carrying a young one who likely is too tired to keep up with the flock.  It looks almost idyllic, a scene from the biblical past.  Yet, appearances can be deceiving.  Life as a shephard is hard.  Poverty eats away at one’s life and poisons relationships.  In the quest for water, there are many violent quarrels with neighbours.  In the quest for peace, there are many violent quarrels in the home – husbands and wives at each other’s hearts and souls; fathers and sons at each other’s throats.  How does one find space, time and energy for honouring the self in this climate of poverty, sparseness and festering relationships?

I learned a lot in India.  I asked questions and I listened.  And I learned that for all of our differences, within we are all the same.  And it is these similarities that are at the heart of the journey of self discovery, the focus of the text and photos of my second SoFoBoMo book.

When the finale is coming, Meredith and Karev teams against Izzie and Derek about doing the surgery, while George’s seen as a good element by Hunt so he might be thinking about leaving the hospital for pursuing greater things.

Izzie spends time with a fellow cancer patient and contemplates whether or not to undergo a risky surgery, as Mark is ready to take his relationship with Lexie to the next level and a patient makes Owen reassess his place at Seattle Grace.George delivers stunning news to Bailey (possibly news that he is leaving to become an army physician), sending shockwaves throughout the hospital, and Izzie’s friends anxiously await her recovery from surgery. Meanwhile Bailey is surprisingly displeased after being accepted into the pediatric fellowship program, and the victim of a near-fatal traffic accident brings the talents of Seattle Grace’s doctors together

Two things I enjoy: cycling and art. Two people I admire: Lance Armstrong and Shephard Fairey.
I have blogged before about how cycling is the purest form of art among all sports and how the Tour de France could be considered the Hamlet within that artform. It just felt right to bring those two passions together. I could also have written about the amazing artful design of racing or MTB cycles, but that would bring a whole new discipline into it. Bikes are not designed to be artful, they are designed to perform. But Shephard Fairey changed that. He made a great design for a great bike (and helmet); Lance’s Livestrong Trek Madone 1274. Perhaps not a wet dream of every cycling enthusiast, but a frame that will keep you awake at night nonetheless.

I saw pictures of this frame on Lance Armstrong’s twitter stream and looking at the pictures, it would appear he plans to ride on this frame during the Tour of Italy. Should that really happen, there is no more denying that no sport has more art to it than cycling. Personally, I hope that after Shephard helped Obama to a historic victory in the presidential race, he\’ll help Lance win a historic victory in Paris. You just gotta love the fact that Lance´s bike says ´Obey´ on the ballhead. Go Lance!

I cannot stop looking at this amazing time trial bike. Whoa!

Leadership is a lonely road.  It often can’t be traveled lightly or with making tons of friends in mind.  Leadership is about making tough, sometimes controversial decisions, that make some people very happy and make others very unhappy.  Leadership is about having knowledge or insight about things or people that the general public doesn’t and having to make decision that as a result a lot of people don’t understand.  Leadership is not a popularity contest.  If you have the need to always be liked or favored, you’ll never be an effective leader.  Leaders make the choices and the decisions that need to be made for the good of their people and their organizations or businesses.  Leaders have to make tough, tough choices and they take the credit and the criticism for the outcomes.  Leaders take the time to hear all the different sides to an issue, or take in the research or information that is available, then they go that quiet place and listen to their instincts.  Then…they make decisions.  If you are going to be the leader that you’re supposed to be you can not shy away or escape this responsibility.  This is a cross we must all bear…and we bear it alone.

Cada vez se va poniendo más interesante, como pasa siempre con lost. Hay varias cositas que ya las habia adelantado en los spoilers.

Primero vemos como fue el accidente del 316, y un poco antes, el copiloto le hizo notar a Lapidus la presencia de Hurley en el vuelo, ya que lo había reconocido como un “oceanic six”.

Nuestros losties quedaron separados en 2 líneas de tiempo: por un lado Jack, Kate y Hurley en 1977, y también Sayid que quedó aparte. Por otro lado Sun, Lapidus y Ben con el resto de los sobrevivientes, entre ellos Ilana y Caesar, que no sabemos en que año están, se supone que 30 años después, o sea en 2007.

Lefleur y Juliette ayudan a Jack, Hurley y Kate a infiltrarse entre los Dharma como nuevos reclutados, ya que justo llegaba un submarino.

Me encantó la chombita azul de Jack!!! Encima Pierre Chang, o como se llame, lo denigró a “Workman”!!! De neurocirujano a conserje!!!

Kate estaba bien onda 70 con ese look hippoide.

Lapidus y Sun viajaran en el tiempo???

The book of Amos is tucked in between Joel and Obadiah.  Page 1340 .  The scriptures say this about Amos in chapter 7:14-15, when he was being told to leave the country because the people there did not like what the Lord was saying through Amos….Amos said, “I was neither a prophet nor a prophet’s son, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees.  But the Lord took me from tending the flock” 

You see, Amos was a prophet….but  he did not start that way.  He ended up that way.  Amos did not have a degree or a pedigree.  He was not schooled in the prophetic nor did he attend the prophetic seminary.  He tended flocks and figs.  He had blisters on his hands, dust on his sandals,…and probably much more depending on how careful he was walking all around those sheep….. 

God was working then in 792 B.C. and He is working now.  God is working all around us all the time.  The Lord took Amos away from what he was doing and made him into something else.  When you have an encounter with the Living God….you are changed.  Amos was, Moses was, Abraham was, and on and on throughout time…………louie was, Zosh was, Pete was, Jen was, Debbie was,……..and the list goes on.

You may just be a sheepherder or a tender of fig trees right now…Put your ear to the spirit……look around  you and see what God is doing……just in small areas, at your work, on the street, maybe even in your church….and listen for what God may say to you about leaving the flock and figs….at least for a while.

Did she just compare evolution to a bag? I would pay to see someone pie her face. She needs to stop it. For that matter, all conservatives need to take a hiatus and zip it for a while. Give us a break, we deserve it.

Clean (irmão de Spike Jonze e representa a North america) e Zegon (também conhecido anteriormente como Zé Gonzalez, foi responsável pelas pick ups do Planet Hemp e formava o Dz Cuts – dupla com O Dj Nutz, e representando a South America). Essa música tem participação de David Byrne (talkin heads), Chuck D (salve o Public Enemy), Ras Congo, Seu Jorge & Z-Trip.  O responsável gráfico é o designer Shepard Fairey, que fez aquele poster Hope! (vermelho e azul ) do Obama.
