LG KE970 Shine is the successor of LG chocolate range of mobiles. This phone is designed as a pure solid metal with mirror finish display. It is a slider model phone with the top part containing nothing other than a loudspeaker cum in-call speaker, screen and navigation panel. The navigation panel of LG KE970 Shine is really different than other phones. Here you have a scroll bar instead of a 4 way directional button. On either side of this scroll button you have buttons for side movement and two more buttons for selecting the options on the screen accordingly.

This phone is designed in handy manner for right handed persons with all the extra buttons on the left. The right side of the phone has no buttons, not even ports. ..I watched bored around,  i noticed a white arm grabbing my friends shoulder, my friend didn’t even turn around. I blinked and the arm was gone, still i followed my memory and looked at the direction where it had come from. A small shining white body was twitching in the corner besides the door. My pulse was rising and i was more scared than i ever had. But then the first light for the encore flashed and the creature was gone. I looked at my friend, she was cheering at the encore already..

So you believe in Ghosts? Is there spirits wandering around?
I’m not a religious or a very scared person, just a normal girl.
But i do believe in ghosts, not that anything big supernatural has happened to me.

I think mostly i wanna believe, cos knowing of stuff like that would make me special too?

The only really weird thing that has happened to me is the story i started this entry with, but I’m still confused if my eyes just lied or was that ‘real’?

Mabye I should ask around people what they think of ghosts?

As i stopped to light a tobacco i saw in my eye corner a black long shadow fast catching up with me. I breathed in the smoke and started walking fast again and as i turned to the right i looked back, but nobody was there. But this time i saw a black person slowly walking a hundred meters in front of me…

Now i was catching up with it?

2. Tutte le lingue del dialogo

Anche in un contesto dichiaratamente finto già dal nome (quello della fiction, appunto), bisogna fare tutto il possibile perché i dialoghi non risultino falsi. E per questo è necessario, per prima cosa, che i personaggi si parlino fra loro, e non allo spettatore, come qualche volta succede, per la necessità di passare informazioni che mandino avanti la storia. Così come è opportuno rendersi conto di disporre – a differenza per esempio del dialogato in narrativa – anche del visivo, e quindi della presenza in scena delle cose, che allora non bisogna nominare nelle battute (salvo necessità), potendo invece ricorrere a tutto l’armamentario dei deittici (pronomi, aggettivi dimostrativi, ecc.) che nella realtà rendono più veloci i nostri scambi, naturalmente orientati all’economica linguistica, sotto la spinta delle urgenze comunicative.

Questi sono solo alcuni degli accorgimenti tecnici che bisognerebbe seguire nella stesura di un dialogo. Eppure, capita a volte di avere una sensazione di straniamento all’ascolto di un prodotto italiano, anche quando gli sceneggiatori si siano sforzati di rispettare tutte le regole della drammaturgia della scena. E a me pare che questo disagio abbia, molto spesso, un’origine squisitamente linguistica. E specifica italiana, come proverò a spiegare.

Come è noto, per la sua storia, l’italiano, a differenza di altre lingue, dispone di una molteplicità di varietà locali che sono ancora molto diffuse nel parlato a vari livelli: possono essere l’unica lingua a disposizione di un parlante semicolto; ma possono rappresentare il registro basso di un parlante colto collocato in un contesto comunicativo familiare o scherzoso. Per dirla con termini tecnici, le varianti diatopiche dell’italiano sono ancora moltissime e spesso queste si incrociano con altri tipologie di varianti come quella diastratica (il ceto sociale del parlante e la sua istruzione) o quella diafasica (la varietà dei registri, appunto). Ora, è evidente che se uno sceneggiatore volesse rispettare i canoni della verosimiglianza linguistica fino in fondo, nei suoi dialoghi dovrebbe ricorrere continuamente, se non al dialetto, almeno all’italiano regionale del luogo di provenienza del personaggio a cui deve dare voce. Ma questo creerebbe un problema, dal momento che si può ben ipotizzare che il napoletano di uno scugnizzo risulti incomprensibile a uno spettatore di Trento, solo per fare un esempio. E siccome in genere ciò che non si comprende viene respinto, una lingua troppo marcata in un senso o nell’altro rischierebbe di determinare – ora all’una ora all’altra latitudine – un’emorragia di spettatori che la fiction, considerando i suoi costi, non si può permettere (e forse neanche una televisione pubblica che volesse rimanere ancorata al ruolo pedagogico svolto per anni nella diffusione dell’italiano).

Si può osservare come proprio per questa ragione – tanto per fare un esempio noto a tutti, e che pure rappresenta un’eccezione – negli adattamenti televisivi del ciclo romanzesco di Montalbano di Andrea Camilleri, uno degli interventi è proprio sulla lingua, con una riduzione drastica, rispetto alle opere letterarie, del tasso di sicilianismi (che sopravvivono nella caratterizzazione dei personaggi socialmente più sprovveduti), convertiti nei dialoghi in pennellate di colore locale.

Si capisce come, pur ragionando comunque di scrittura, le esigenze televisive siano di tutt’altra natura rispetto a quelle letterarie; e anche come sia possibile, in questo senso, che quella che per Joyce – altro esempio estremo, come Bufalino che era più che altro attratto dalle varianti diacroniche – rappresentava una risorsa preziosissima per la sua ricerca (il fatto che l’italiano contenesse appunto al suo interno l’idea di «lingue altre» che andava mettendo a punto per il suo Finnegans Wake e che aveva valorizzato nella traduzione dell’episodio di Anna Livia Plurabella), per gli sceneggiatori rischia di diventare un’arma a doppio taglio. Sfruttarla completamente significherebbe condannarsi a un pubblico per forza di cose di nicchia; ignorarla, come più spesso si fa, significherebbe rassegnare i dialoghi a quell’italiano medio o standard (su cui tanto hanno dibattuto Calvino e Pasolini) al centro di vecchie e nuove questioni della lingua, e che per essere di tutti finisce per essere perfettamente rappresentativo di nessuno. Tanto da risultare a volte, se non falso, certamente artefatto, o scritto, come la lingua di un dialogo (siamo qui – tanto per chiudere la rassegna – nell’ambito delle varianti diamesiche) non dovrebbe mai risultare.

A tale proposito ci si potrebbe chiedere come mai queste sensazioni negative non si avvertono mai nella fruizione di opere straniere adattate, che in genere si uniformano programmaticamente proprio su un italiano medio, con l’eccezione di qualche piccola varietà di registro. E la mia impressione è che in quel caso la risposta abbia a che fare con la consapevolezza da parte degli spettatori di aver stretto un patto: non riconoscono nel mondo rappresentato la loro realtà, sanno che è altro da quella e stanno al gioco; e questo vale anche per la lingua: sanno che nell’universo rappresentato è tutt’altra e che qualcuno semplicemente si è preso la briga di renderla accessibile, né più e né meno di un interprete simultaneo che traduca la conferenza di un politico, soffermandosi più che altro sul senso. Negli adattamenti, semmai, un sensazione di straniamento si può avere al contrario da «un eccesso di traduzione», come succede in quelle opere in cui si sceglie di tradurre anche le scritte, non con i sottotitoli ma con inquadrature della scritta medesima tradotta, preparata durante le riprese. Come il diploma appeso nello studio a Washington di Tom Cruise in Leoni per agnelli (il film di Robert Redford del 2007) compilato in perfetto italiano e che dal mio punto di vista crea senz’altro una crepa nel sistema. Così come il proverbio inglese «All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy» (letteralmente Solo lavoro e niente divertimento rendono Jack un ragazzo svogliato) dattiloscritto ossessivamente dal protagonista di Shining (1980) che Kubrick volle girare – con la sua cura maniacale di tutti i dettagli – con relativo adattamento alla lingua dei paesi in cui era prevista la distribuzione del film (si capisce che questo accorgimento ha dei costi e che quindi è tipico del cinema e non della fiction, anche quella facoltosa d’Oltreoceano) e che in italiano corrisponde al famoso Il mattino ha l’oro in bocca. Una scelta che mi ha sempre dato la sensazione di un vertiginoso e repentino sbalzo – ancorché rassicurante – fuori dalla realtà dell’immaginifico Colorado e dell’Overlook Hotel in cui avevo accettato di essere reclusa per la durata del film. Ma, per l’appunto, torniamo in Italia.

Che lingua deve scegliere dunque uno sceneggiatore per fare in modo che i suoi dialoghi risultino nello stesso tempo comprensibili in tutta la penisola e verosimili rispetto alla realtà rappresentata?

L’italiano, evidentemente, il meno possibile medio – cioè punto di incontro di tutte le varietà – e invece il più possibile vario sulla scala dei registri (da un punto di vista lessicale e sintattico), ogni volta adeguati al contesto comunicativo. Con qualche coloritura locale da dosare in considerazione non solo del personaggio da rappresentare (e, anche qui, dell’àmbito in cui è collocato in una data scena), ma anche dell’attore – se si conosce già in fase di scrittura, come è sempre auspicabile – che quando non infligge allo sceneggiatore qualche pugnalata (come una volta con un attimino improvvisato sul set e mai scritto nella scena), gli va piuttosto in soccorso, valorizzando al meglio la natura collettiva del prodotto che tutti insieme stanno realizzando.

Faccio un esempio per chiarire. La squadra era interpretata perlopiù da attori napoletani; alcuni, fra le guest di puntata, anche non professionisti. Nella scrittura di questi personaggi – ma anche nel caso dei protagonisti dall’accento più spiccatamente partenopeo – si è sempre cercato di giocare in sottrazione con le venature locali, perché si sapeva di poter contare sul valore aggiunto dell’interpretazione, che si dava in un certo senso per scontata (anche grazie al contributo di un’altra figura strategica nella filiera produttiva che è il responsabile del casting: l’addetto alla selezione degli interpreti giusti per i vari personaggi). Farcire le battute di un personaggio raccontato come umile, culturalmente sprovveduto, con parole dialettali e giri di frase regionali (come la verosimiglianza richiederebbe), avrebbe potuto significare in certi casi condannarle all’incomprensibilità, specialmente per il pubblico del Nord. Meglio allora affidarsi all’istinto dell’attore sul set, cercando di contenerne gli eccessi con battute in italiano, sia pure del registro più basso. Come è stato, solo per fare un esempio, il caso della vecchina protagonista di una delle storie contenute nella puntata che ha chiuso l’ottava stagione e con quella l’intera serie (che ha in comune con La nuova squadra, attualmente in onda, soltanto tre personaggi). Si tratta dell’episodio 221, che ho sceneggiato con Mario Cristiani e Donatella Diamanti (due straordinari flagellatori). Una piccola storia di disperazione – una guerra fra poveri – ricalcata su uno spunto di cronaca di quei giorni: un emigrato lascia aperta la porta di casa per discutere con dei coinquilini nell’androne, e quando rientra non trova più i suoi risparmi. Trova però la sua macchinetta digitale, che contiene uno scatto che il derubato non riconosce come proprio. Come se il ladro avesse scattato maldestramente (fotografando i suoi piedi, o meglio le sue ciabatte, e dunque il pavimento), e poi alla fine avesse desistito dal proposito di sottrarre anche quella. È proprio quello scatto a inchiodare il ladro, cioè la ladra: la vecchina pensionata che, versando in condizioni economiche disperate, aveva approfittato della disattenzione del suo dirimpettaio rubandogli i contanti. Non la macchinetta, appunto, non essendo ladra di professione e dunque inserita negli ambienti della ricettazione. La scena dello scioglimento del piccolo mistero si può vedere qui:

In essa, come si noterà, ci sono molte parole napoletane (trasuta per entrata; sparagna’ per risparmiare, ecc.), e varianti locali come aggio per ho e chiù per più, e così via. E tutte quante si attagliano perfettamente al personaggio e lo rendono vero, anche grazie all’intensità dell’attrice (che con le sue espressioni riesce con buona probabilità a farsi capire in tutte le regioni), ma nessuna era presente nella sceneggiatura (che proponeva invece le varianti italiane: rischiose, evidentemente, se il casting avesse selezionato, come pure qualche volta è accaduto, un’interprete non napoletana). Una specie di patto non scritto, insomma, in cui lo sceneggiatore toglie, e l’attore aggiunge, per arrivare tutti insieme – in ogni reparto, ognuno con le sue competenze – a quel vago senso di realtà che ricerchiamo tutti e che in Italia, più che altrove, sembra difficile da raggiungere. Come se un’ideale coperta fosse continuamente tirata ora dal lato della verosimiglianza, ora da quello della comprensibilità, risultando sempre troppo corta.

Evidentemente c’è ancora un po’ di strada da fare. Come nella diffusione dell’italiano a tutti i livelli, così nella sua rappresentazione nella fiction televisiva. Che risente più in generale – rispetto ad altri paesi – di un ritardo nell’elaborazione teorica e dunque, come conseguenza, nella considerazione da parte della critica, e non solo. Ritardo di cui mi sembra spia significativa l’assenza di un linguaggio settoriale autoctono (tutti quei termini tecnici che mi ostino a evidenziare, qui e altrove, con il corsivo metalinguistico). Non si tratta da parte mia di una reazione purista, né di una rappresaglia nei confronti della fatica che ho sempre fatto per spiegare ai miei nonni il significato dei ruoli che ho coperto negli anni nel mio mestiere. Si tratta più in generale di capire se il corrispettivo italiano di termini come script editor o story editor (per non dire fiction) non esiste per pigrizia o perché non siamo in grado di fornire nel nostro paese l’equivalente di quelle professionalità; o se, ancora, a quelle professionalità nel nostro paese non viene dato lo stesso peso che altrove. Nel caso di queste ultime sciagurate ipotesi, forse si potrebbe cominciare proprio dalle parole, trovando quelle giuste. Magari prendendo spunto dal più lontano dei luoghi, come la letteratura di Bufalino, che chiudeva il suo testo Istruzioni per l’uso in questo modo: «abbandono e fiducia nella parola. Sì, l’universo verbale è l’unico di cui veramente mi fido. Nomina sunt consequentia rerum? È vero il contrario, invece, e le cose sono invenzioni e sogni, e le parole epitaffi di sogni».

When I look the pages over, I see I knew a lot.  I have read a thousand books.  The wisest men have chimed in on what ache ailed me most.  And I have said to them, So.  So.  The last word was mine.  Isn’t that what all fools want?  No.  What I wanted was to want the life I have.  Isn’t that a character of wisdom?  Isn’t that the one thing every saint must come to understand?  Or else who would give up the world to follow such a fool, whose life resembles loss so well?  I think I might have been a better man.  Once, I thought I was.  But now…   I look for gratitude.  The stars are shining here, even if elsewhere they have died.  That has to be something, I think.  I know.  Or else, it would be otherwise.  They have come for me to see.  For me to see and say, Hello.  I climbed the roof yesterday.  I went looking for another word.  I deserve a life but who am I to say which one?

Here is a real thought provoking article for people who want to know how capitalism expands by creating enemies from no where, create a monster out of it, start a hunt for it and then expand it’s hold on the desired areas in the name of fighting the evil.

We are seeing it in US lead so called war against terror and now India is using the same idea against Maoists.

I think civil society in India should learn from a real horrible experience through which Pakistanis are going due to capitalist-imperialism.

Mr Chidambaram’s War

The low, flat-topped hills of south Orissa have been home to the Dongria Kondh long before there was a country called India or a state called Orissa. The hills watched over the Kondh. The Kondh watched over the hills and worshipped them as living deities. Now these hills have been sold for the bauxite they contain.

Perhaps the Kondh are supposed to be grateful that their Niyamgiri hill, home to Niyam Raja, their ‘god of universal law’, has been sold to a company with a name like Vedanta (the branch of Hindu philosophy that teaches the Ultimate Nature of Knowledge).

It’s one of the biggest mining corporations in the world and is owned by Anil Aggarwal, the Indian billionaire who lives in London in a mansion that once belonged to the Shah of Iran. Vedanta is only one of the many multinational corporations closing in on Orissa.

If the flat-topped hills are destroyed, the forests that clothe them will be destroyed too. So will the rivers and streams that flow out of them and irrigate the plains below. So will the Dongria Kondh. So will the hundreds of thousands of tribal people who live in the forested heart of India, and whose homeland is similarly under attack.

In our smoky, crowded cities, some people say, ‘So what? Someone has to pay the price of progress.’ Some even say, ‘Let’s face it, these are people whose time has come. Look at any developed country, Europe, the US, Australia — they all have a ‘past’.’

Indeed they do. So why shouldn’t ‘we’? In keeping with this line of thought, the government has announced Operation Green Hunt, a war purportedly against the ‘Maoist’ rebels headquartered in the jungles of central India.

Of course, the Maoists are by no means the only ones rebelling. There is a whole spectrum of struggles all over the country that people are engaged in — the landless, the Dalits, the homeless, workers, peasants, weavers.

They’re pitted against a juggernaut of injustices, including policies that allow a wholesale corporate takeover of people’s land and resources. However, it is the Maoists who the government has singled out as being the biggest threat.

Two years ago, when things were nowhere near as bad as they are now, the prime minister described the Maoists as the ‘single-largest internal security threat’ to the country.

This will probably go down as the most popular and often-repeated thing he ever said. For some reason, the comment he made on January 6, 2009, at a meeting of state chief ministers, when he described the Maoists as having only ‘modest capabilities’ doesn’t seem to have had the same raw appeal.

He revealed his government’s real concern on June 18, 2009, when he told parliament: ‘If left-wing extremism continues to flourish in parts which have natural resources of minerals, the climate for investment would certainly be affected.’

At current market rates, the minerals in the region have been valued not in millions but in trillions of dollars.

Right now in central India, the Maoists’ guerrilla army is made up almost entirely of desperately poor tribal people living in conditions of such chronic hunger that it verges on famine of the kind we only associate with sub-Saharan Africa.

They are people who, even after 60 years of India’s so-called independence, have not had access to education, healthcare or legal redress. They are people who have been mercilessly exploited for decades, consistently cheated by small businessmen and moneylenders, the women raped as a matter of right by police and forest department personnel.

Their journey back to a semblance of dignity is due in large part to the Maoist cadre who have lived and worked and fought by their side for decades.

If the tribals have taken up arms, they have done so because a government which has given them nothing but violence and neglect now wants to snatch away the last thing they have — their land. Clearly, they do not believe the government when it says it only wants to ‘develop’ their region.

Clearly, they do not believe that the roads as wide and flat as aircraft runways that are being built through their forests in Dantewada by the National Mineral Development Corporation are being built for them to walk their children to school on. They believe that if they do not fight for their land, they will be annihilated. That is why they have taken up arms.

MoUist corridor
The forest once known as the Dandakaranya, which stretches from West Bengal through Jharkhand, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, parts of Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, is home to millions of India’s tribal people.

The media has taken to calling it the Red corridor or the Maoist corridor. It could just as accurately be called the MoUist corridor. It doesn’t seem to matter at all that the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution provides protection to adivasi people and disallows the alienation of their land.

It looks as though the clause is there only to make the Constitution look good — a bit of window-dressing, a slash of make-up. Scores of corporations, from relatively unknown ones to the biggest mining companies and steel manufacturers in the world, are in the fray to appropriate adivasi homelands — the Mittals, Jindals, Tata, Essar, Posco, Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and, of course, Vedanta.There’s an MoU on every mountain, river and forest glade.

We’re talking about social and environmental engineering on an unimaginable scale. And most of this is secret. It’s not in the public domain. Somehow I don’t think that the plans that are afoot to destroy one of the world’s most pristine forests and ecosystems, as well as the people who live in it, will be discussed at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen.

Our 24-hour news channels that are so busy hunting for macabre stories of Maoist violence — and making them up when they run out of the real thing — seem to have no interest at all in this side of the story. I wonder why?

Perhaps it’s because the development lobby to which they are so much in thrall says the mining industry will ratchet up the rate of GDP growth dramatically and provide employment to the people it displaces. This does not take into account the catastrophic costs of environmental damage. But even on its own narrow terms, it is simply untrue.

Most of the money goes into the bank accounts of the mining corporations. Less than 10 per cent comes to the public exchequer. A very tiny percentage of the displaced people get jobs, and those who do, earn slave-wages to do humiliating, backbreaking work.

By caving in to this paroxysm of greed, we are bolstering other countries’ economies with our ecology. The mining companies desperately need this ‘war’. It’s an old technique. They hope the impact of the violence will drive out the people who have so far managed to resist the attempts that have been made to evict them.

Whether this will indeed be the outcome, or whether it’ll simply swell the ranks of the Maoists remains to be seen.

The real problem is that the flagship of India’s miraculous ‘growth’ story has run aground. It came at a huge social and environmental cost. And now, as the rivers dry up and forests disappear, as the water table recedes and as people realise what is being done to them, the chickens are coming home to roost.

All over the country, there’s unrest, there are protests by people refusing to give up their land and their access to resources, refusing to believe false promises any more. Suddenly, it’s beginning to look as though the 10 per cent growth rate and democracy are mutually incompatible.

Militarisation
To get the bauxite out of the flat-topped hills, to get iron ore out from under the forest floor, to get 85 per cent of India’s people off their land and into the cities (which is what Home Minister Chidambaram says he’d like to see), India has to become a police state.

The government has to militarise. To justify that militarisation, it needs an enemy. The Maoists are that enemy. They are to corporate fundamentalists what the Muslims are to Hindu fundamentalists. (Is there a fraternity of fundamentalists? Is that why the RSS has expressed open admiration for Mr Chidambaram?)

It would be a grave mistake to imagine that the paramilitary troops, the Rajnandgaon air base, the Bilaspur brigade headquarters, the Unlawful Activities Act, the Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act and Operation Green Hunt are all being put in place just to flush out a few thousand Maoists from the forests.

In all the talk of Operation Green Hunt, whether or not Mr Chidambaram goes ahead and ‘presses the button’, I detect the kernel of a coming state of emergency. (Here’s a math question: If it takes 600,000 soldiers to hold down the tiny valley of Kashmir, how many will it take to contain the mounting rage of hundreds of millions of people?)

Instead of narco-analysing Kobad Gandhy, the recently arrested Maoist leader, it might be a better idea to talk to him.

In the meanwhile, will someone who’s going to the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen later this year please ask the only question worth asking: Can we leave the bauxite in the mountain?

Pour ceux qui en ont ras-la-citrouille des plans glauques d’Halloween, la Bellevilloise vous propose de revisiter le concept d’Halloween en bal masqué. Exit les vampires et les traces de sang ! Ici il est question d’un bal vénitien, de masques glamours et d’élégance sur fond de musique commerciale et variée. Pour tous ceux qui préfèreront être chics et sexys plutôt que morts ou pourris, Eyses wild loft (en référence au Eyes Wide Shut de Kubrick) c’est LA soirée d’alternative.

Cependant pour tous ceux qui n’aiment pas ou plus sortir, qui n’ont pas du tout envie de croiser des monstres, des masques ou des vampires, voici ma sélection des bons films d’horreur.  A se mater entre amis ou en cocooning, pour le plaisir d’avoir peur tout simplement.

- SHINING : Parce que c’est un classique et surtout parce que personnellement je n’ai jamais pu le regarder en entier, honte à moi je sais.

- SCREAM : Parce que Neve Cambell, Courtney Cox et David Arquette ( qui se sont d’ailleurs rencontré sur le tournage avant de se marier)   sont tout simplement excellents. Et surtout, il s’agit d’une trilogie bien ficelée ! De quoi faire durer le suspens…

- LE SILENCE DES AGNEAUX:  parce que Anthony Hopkins fait toujours aussi peur et qu’il est en duo avec l’excellente Jody Foster.

- SOUVIENS TOI L’ETE DERNIER : parce que c’est léger, facile à regarder et que le casting tout entier est mignon, filles comme garçons.

- THE RING : parce que c’est un classique et qu’il y a plusieurs version à comparer.

Et puis à voir si vous arrivez à vous le procurer :

- THE PARANORMAL ACTIVITY : parce que ça fait un malheur au USA, que ça promeut le petit film indépendant à petit budget et que Blairwitch c’était il y a dix an déjà…

1^ère semaine des vacances de la Toussaint difficile avec les jeunes inscrits à l’Espace J de la MJC de Persan. Toutes les propositions culturelles sont refusées d’emblée, que ce soit une visite de l’exposition « Crim’ expo » à la Villette ou une séance de cinéma avec « Shining » de Stanley Kubrick. Mission quasi impossible de les amener sur des terrains inconnus, d’autant plus s’il y est question de se cultiver.  Il faudrait estampiller toutes les sorties par « Vu à la télé » ou « Certifié par Jamel Debbouze » et on y gagnerait déjà quelque peu. Même des sorties sportives, genre karting, peuvent tourner au fiasco dès que l’on sort de l’Ile de France et que l’on se confronte à un rejet voire une peur du personnel d’accueil suscités par les comportements de ces jeunes de cité, souvent intimidants et borderline…

En vérité, il  est quasiment impossible d’obtenir quelque résultat tant que l’on s’adressera à ces jeunes de manière collective et communautaire et que les actions qui leur sont dédiées ne s’inscriront pas sur du long terme. On ne change pas les comportements et les habitus en quelques mois… A force de fantasmer sur la jeunesse, l’immigration et la précarité, la politique de la ville et les Conseils Locaux de Sécurité et de la Délinquance se confrontent ici à leurs propres  limites. Même constat, pour épouser l’actualité, sur les journalistes et les politiques cherchant à alimenter le débat sur l’identité nationale ; parisianisme oblige, tous expriment à leur insu une méconnaissance profonde et  inquiétante de la banlieue et de ses habitants. Si loin et si proche…

Faute de résultats, la disparition imminente de la politique de la ville pourrait in fine n’être pas si dramatique que cela, et tant pis pour l’ascenseur social, la paix des quartiers et la démocratisation culturelle…

Candlelight Records has set a January 26, 2010 North American release date for “After”, the new album from former EMPEROR vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn.

Recorded during the first half of 2009, “After” completes the musician’s planned trilogy of initial recordings. The CD showcases the Norwegian icon with drummer Asgeir Mickelson (SPIRAL ARCHITECT), bassist Lars K. Norberg (SPIRAL ARCHITECT), and saxophonist Jorgen Munkeby (SHINING [the Norwegian Shining, that will play Roadburn 2010 with Enslaved, red.]).

“This is my first album written with eight-string guitars as basis which has been both challenging and inspiring,” Ihsahn states about the creative process. “I also decided early on that I wanted to mix this album with Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA) and recorded the album with that in mind. Asgeir and Lars have again delivered superb performances. I’ve always wanted to implement the saxophone in my music; Jorgen’s contributions truly added a silver lining to the album.”

Recorded at Ihsahn’s own Symphonique Studio, with additional work at Toproom Studio (co-engineered by Borge Finstad), “After” was meticulously laid out over an eight-month period. The intensity of the project has more than paid off with early listenings already proclaiming it to be the most poignant creations of his solo efforts. “I have felt more confident and more at ease with the material,” relays Ihsahn. “In letting the songs themselves lead the way I just followed the natural impulses.”

THE FIRST FOUNDATION OF THE NEW CITY-SCENE VII

Personal Note:

Please note that the information listed is derived from many sources and research regarding the stones is ongoing.  It is difficult to use information of our current times when in biblical times that information may have been different (note the post regarding Emeralds when it is posted).

Obtaining the stones for the New City was my first endeavor when initiating supplies needed for the painting.  I focused on the “bible” names and nothing more.  When I began soliciting for and collecting stones from all over the world, I took their literal “bible” meaning.  Jasper is an excellent example of the confusion and controversy I began to face.

Jasper is noted to be mainly reds and browns most commonly.  There are banded and spotted in nearly all colors.  I imagined the stone used was red, perhaps banded with browns, blacks and yellow/whites as it was the most commonly seen stone with research.  There were blues (ocean jasper) which were magnificent but rare.  I wondered if the blue was the correct stone to use in order to illuminate the heavenly blue colors of God’s New City.

It was not until several years later I realized my error!  I had been collecting the wrong color all along.  I had read Revelation so many times and missed what I now understand jasper to be.  I began to research the stones from ancient times, scientifically, geologically, metaphysically and any way to develop a true understanding of exactly what each stone signifies. 

As I have previously stated: “I am not religious but I am learning”, and in that growth I tried to walk a mile in another “man’s” shoes to find out exactly what was on God’s mind when he mastered the architecture of his New City.  I imagine the plan was to mark HIS New City with HIS glory which SHINES like the sun.  What a better stone to use to crown HIS glory!

Referring to God and The New City from various biblical text:

• Rev. 4:3 And he that sat was to the sight like the jasper and sardine stone
• Rev. 4:6 …and before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal…
• Rev. 21:11 Having the glory of God, and the light thereof was like to a precious stone, as to the jasper stone, even as crystal… (SECOND TRANSLATION: …having the glory of God.  … brilliance was like a very costly stone of crystal-clear jasper.)
• Rev. 21:23 And the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon to shine in it.  For the glory of God hath enlightened it, and the Lamb is the lamp thereof.

FACTS REGARDING JASPER:

• Quartz is divided into two types:
• Macrocrystalline-Crystals are visible with the unaided eye.
• Cryptocrystalline-A microscope is required to see the individual crystals.
• Jasper is quartz of the cryptocrystalline type that can be of two distinct types; micro granular and fibrous.
• Quartz makes up 12% of the earth’s crust. (ODDLY ABUNDANT-REMEMBER THAT WHEN READING ABOUT THE STONES IN VARIOUS BLOGS.  A MYSTERY OF REVELATION WILL BE REVEALED IN THE BLOG SHORTLY BEFORE THE PAINTING IS UNVEILED 12/2010 WHICH WILL CHANGE HISTORY~!)
• As the most abundant mineral on earth, quartz and jasper are found all over the world.
• Jasper is often multicolored, banded or spotted and is commonly found in reds and browns.
• Has long been used as tools for hardness; spears and axes.
• Helps cure liver, intestinal ailments, stomach, gynecological, and cleanse the body of toxins.
• The stone was once believed to cure insanity with God’s help, and heal demon possessed.
• Egyptians placed amulets on the deceased as jasper was believed to create a safe passage in death.
• Protective, calming, offers stability, and balances the emotional and intellectual.
• Known as “the great rain bearer” in the fourth century.
• Origin of the name Jasper is Greek: iaspis.
• Brings happiness, aids in sleep, protective properties.

A drive-in near London opens with world’s largest screen.

Drive-ins always bring back in my mind the scene in Grease when Sandy leaves Danny. In the 1950’s, drive-ins were the place to go for a good night out. Going to watch a movie came close to meaning going to the drive-in. They became a symbol for the 1950’s and 1960’s America.

Today, people tend to think that drive-ins belong to the past. Yet they didn’t vanish from the face of earth. Drive-ins have indeed disapeared in most of european coutries. However, dozens of them remain open. There are quite a few in the US and some in countries such as Australia, China, and Canada. You can find a whole list of them here.

This month a new drive-in opens at Pinewood Studios, 20 miles away from London. For the occasion, they built the world’s largest screen. Their programmation is quite interesting. The Shining, The Fifth Element, Gladiator, and Batman Begins are among the films that are on the schedule.

So if you are in the mood to relive or get taste of the experience, Pinewood Studios is the place to check out. By the way, these were also the studio where part of Casino Royal was shot and they also contributed to all the films they’re showing.

The first screening will be on October 31st.

SHINING STAR! CJ Stone aka “Andreas Litterscheid”, one of my favourite DJ’s, gladly reminds us of “Infinity”, “Into the Sea”, “The Sun (Goes Down)”. It is unlikely for many of us to know where his “nickname” comes from. So, when he started for the first time mixing, the technology from those times was unable to provide many options, all he could try was working on old “Cassette Players”. So instead of “DJ”, it was a “CJ” (cassette-jockey). Later on, when CJ became well known, he took the stage name “Stone”. Great work, I say.
