Shirt for Morgan's Birthday Party.

Here is another “birthday shirt” that I finished this week for my friend, Melissa. Her daughter, Morgan, is having a karaoke sleepover and she wanted to have shirts printed for the girls. The design shows a microphone and the text, “I rocked it at Morgan’s 11th Birthday Bash!” I screen-printed 13 hot pink shirts with black ink.

The pocket square owes its origins to the handkerchief, which has been used for over 600 years and originated in England. Initially, the handkerchief was adopted by the upper class, but by the 17th century it was common among all classes throughout western Europe. Originally, handkerchiefs were kept in trouser pockets. However, by the 19th century, as two-piece suits came into fashion, men started to place a clean handkerchief into their jacket’s breast pocket. By the 1920’s the pocket square had become more of a fashion accessory, especially after folding techniques were developed. The pocket square as accessory was cemented in the 40’s and 50’s after disposable tissue was introduced.

Always appropriate, a pocket square is a fantastic way to add colour and detail to any sport jacket, blazer, suit or tuxedo. The only situation in which we would not recommend sporting a pocket square would be if you’re wearing a boutineer.    

A boutineer with a pocket square seems crowded and overdone. One should preclude the other.

When accessorizing an outfit with a pocket square, try to match it with your tie or shirt. If your approach to clothing is more traditional, then feel free to use a white pocket square. Our favourite look is combining an Antonio Valente sport jacket with one of our sport shirts, worn open, and a pocket square made from the same shirt fabric.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Today is usually a very busy day but It was actually really relaxing today didn’t do much though.

So after I finished my second post I fell asleep which was around 5 AM by the time I was done, I woke up at 1 today I woke to nothing, well it wasn’t really nothing actually I woke up to about 20 messages saying happy thanksgiving from people but I accidently deleted them, so smart of me, so I sent everyone a Happy Thanksgiving Message to everyone in my contacts. I was hoping for pancakes again this morning, bummer there were none. I woke up just on time to leave with my family to Wal-Mart which actually ended up to be more than just Wal-Mart we want to all these dollar store looking for type so that part of my day wasn’t really interesting was it?

I got to Wal-Mart at around 3 PM yes we were looking around for 2 hours and we didn’t find anything we were looking for, although we did get some pretty decorations for our Christmas tree. I like the colors it’s like gold and brown. I like the colors they remind me of chocolate bars wrapped in gold wrapping, for the people who don’t know me well, I love chocolate. Anyways back to Wal-Mart we were there for about another 2 hours didn’t really leave till 5 PM but it was fun oh and I bought a shirt because I really liked the design and I bought Cheetos. I really didn’t buy much we were mainly just looking around for stuff to go and buy on Black Friday; tomorrow is going to be a very interesting day.

I got home at around 6 PM it was great I took a quick shower before I started making dinner, yes I made dinner I know its suppose to be someone older not me but I found it really fun. I made mashed potatoes and stuffing well I kind of cheated on it though, I used the box with the stuff in it already so it was pretty easy to do, and my mom just warmed up the corn which was the easiest thing ever. We didn’t have the traditional turkey since we are a family of 4 and well I am vegetarian so we had chicken for three and we didn’t even take the time to make it we bought one of those that are already roasted, our Thanksgiving dinner was done in about 20 minutes max and that was only because we had to go buy milk at Wal-Mart again to make the mashed potatoes. So we had dinner at the bar in my house, we didn’t feel like setting up the table, and we all gave thanks for something I gave thanks for another year of life and not falling for the temptation of chicken.

After dinner we all went upstairs to watch a movie in my mom’s room we watched Tinker Bell which is the best movie ever and right afterwards started watching Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure but that’s when we got the call that one of my aunts was at my other aunt’s we all went but only my brother the one that is just a couple of years younger than me we stayed over and played cards and looked through store catalogs for tomorrow it was really fun. I really like spending time with my Aunts. I left their house at around 11 PM and I still wanted to finish watching Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure and so I did.

Well after the movie was over I just turned on the laptop and started writing and I been here since that and talking to my friend Ruben from school

I don’t know when this piece of purple fabric entered the stash or even where I got it from, but I do know that it has been in the stash a long time. I was doing some fine tuning adjustments on my basic sloper pattern last March and I needed to try out my adjustments, so I dug this purple piece, as well as a blue piece, out of the stash. I washed the fabric and took it to the cutting table, but as I cut out the purple fabric, I lost interest in the fabric and the shirt. I can’t explain it. It just didn’t cut out well and it soured me on the whole project. After cutting and ironing on some interfacing, I sewed the shoulder seams and that is where the construction stopped. I just did not care to sew on it anymore, so I tucked it in the closet. Each time I opened the closet to start a new project, it would be sitting there staring at me, but there it would remain for a long time.

A few weeks ago during the prep for embroidery day, I ran across the shirt and decided to get it out and finish it. As I sewed the collar on, it just didn’t quite sew right, but I didn’t care. While sewing the side seams, the serging puckered a little and I just didn’t care. The hems wanted to give me some grief, but I just did not care. In picking out an embroidery design, I picked the design I had been wanting to try, not what would have been best looking on the shirt. I just didn’t care.

Well, upon completion of the shirt, I looked back at the sewing process and thought to myself, “This shirt actually was a struggle to sew together, but with the I don’t care attitude, it was not problem.” I wish all my sewing projects could be have the I don’t care attitude. It would save me a lot of frustration. But, it would probably make me a sloppier sewer so maybe it is for the best that I do care. Although, I think I will tuck a little I don’t care attitude away for the those times when a sewing project is really trying my patience.

Another funny thing about the “I don’t care” shirt is that it is very comfortable and I love to wear it.

By the way, my adjustment worked well in both the blue shirt and this shirt.

I’ve made a change in my starting lineup recently.  Not fantasy football lineup.  I don’t get into that “fun” anymore.  Got better things to do than get pissed at a player who if he wasn’t on my team I could care less about.  Nope, the starting line up I’m referring to is my all star clothing batting order.  That magical hierarchy of which shirt I’ll wear first give that they are all clean.  Every one does it but I’m pretty sure that I put more thought into that most.

For years chances are you’d find the same item at lead off in the cloth rotation.  A darker blue or navy blue polo.  Sometimes with stripes sometimes just solid plain color but nine times out of ten it was of the blue variety.  What can I say?  I’m a creature of habit.  Always liked navy blue and it looks good on me (very slimming, slimming good) so why deviate from that formula?

This past summer a strange thing happened.  A new competitor entered the Thunder-dome of Eric’s closet.  I was shopping around June at JC Penny’s and noticed a new stock of fat guy cloths came in.  Sure you can call it big and tall section but be honest when was the last time you saw a tall guy shopping in that area of menswear?  Among the new selection where some really nice white polos with navy blue stripes. Hmmm, white with navy blue stripes?  I usually like the other way around but this combo might just be crazy enough to work.  There was only problem.  They didn’t have 3xlt or as I like to call it size Eric. 

Oh well.  I supposed fate didn’t want me to be sporting this new item.  Just wasn’t in the cards but I figured I’d thumb through the pile of shirts just to see if there were any other non dark blue shirts.  Had to snatch them up before other fatties bought the rest of the shirts.  I stumbled onto a bastardized version of the White/Blue shirt that they didn’t have in my size.  This doppelganger was white with red stripes.

Red stripes?  No my usual cup of tea but it was on sale and at $12.99 it was worth a shot.  But you know what?  That white and red shirt that I wasn’t sure if I wanted to wear has slowly snuck up taking the number one spot in my clothing rotation.  I didn’t think I’d even wear it that often let alone be reaching for it first after I did laundry. 

I liked it so much even bought a 2nd shirt just like it.  Call them the twins.  Not sure if you’ve ever bought a shirt exactly like one you have but can I offer a word of advice?  DO NOT WEAR THE SAME SHIRT AS THE ONE YOU’RE BUYING WHEN YOU GO TO THE STORE!  You think no one will notice until the blabber mouthed cashier blurts out “Oh my god this is the same shirt as the one you’re buying.  Wow you must really like this style”.  That trumpet of observation then invites everyone else in line to give you the once over allowing them to judge your fashion sense.

In honor of this new switch from dark blue to bright red I’ve decided to update my blog.  Swapping out the boring old blue graphics for new exciting red ones.  Even redid the cartoon version of myself to not only match this color but to add a little more husky in husky animator.  How many times have you heard someone say “I’m going to have to redo my self portrait.  It’s just not fat enough”

Today I am very happy to show you a few season fitting items of Miamai.
First i will start with the Abigail Shirt.

This shirt is an amazing multi usable piece of clothing. You can wear it as a casual top to a stylish jeans or you can addit to a classy skirt. Nice great made folds give the top a fresh look. If you take a look at the back you can see a nice detail of this shirt. The folds are going round from the front to the back and make the upper part of the back. The you have a sweet free space so that you can see the amazing back of a lady . The gloves, who are also included are repeating the filds on the seam! This shirt with the gloves give all outfits a precious touch!

Up next we have the Cydonia Pants.

This pants are something special. On the first view you see only pants. If you take a closer look your eyes be catched by the amazing leg parts. 4 attachment points are needed for this awsome designed leg parts. Ruffles and little lines with ribbons give this pants the special look. The pants layer it self has a great made texture and the belt with the same great texture matches perfect. This pants are a must have for this season!

Now lets get some color in the grey and dark days with the Mary Shirt of Miamai.

This pullover is a real highlight and perfect for the days getting colder more and more. What I liked so much was, that you don’t have a plain textured pullover only broken through folds. This pullover shows up with a nice basic color broken through shadows and light parts. The texture is made with an eye for the detail and with love for something special as we know it for all Miamai designs.

Take a look at the attachments. On each hand you have a sleeve that leads amazing from the end of the top shirt layer to the end of the pullover. My interst was taken mostly by the neckpart. The big roll collar is my personal favourite part on this pullover. It reminds me of cozy feelings when I hide my chin and neck  while I was standing at the window and looked out while I watched the first snowflakes falling down.
