The “snowmen” from the north has compiled a new showreel for 2009. Great work! I’m sending a Merry christmas to my all in Skellefteå, where I went to school learning computer graphics a long time ago.

While reading large books of secrets written by American Casting agents in the little Fitzroy Library today I came to the conclusion that I need to improve my ‘online presence’ (OP).

So I’ll be adding my showreel and some nice (realistic) photos and maybe try to say a few nice words about my own acting skills (James Tresise is a great actor). Hopefully this will increase my OP.

To be strong is to be useful.

This, perhaps, is the single most important tenet of Parkour.

Discipline, dedication and education aside, PASSION is an important ingredient that is, ironically, the easiest to let slip.

It is our Passion for efficient (and consequently, artful) movement that fuels our motivation to sweat, to bleed, to transcend storm signals and to constantly challenge our minds into breaking down walls of fear.

A wise and brilliant ad-woman once told me that Passion could be easily defined with one word-Sacrifice. We don’t have to look too far for examples that will justify: Christ, medalled athletes, countless hours of sleep and meals foregone by the greatest composers and academics.

The traceur’s  and the traceuse’s Sacrifice, OUR biggest Sacrifice, is the constant need to defend what we do.

For now, that’s the way the society works. Defense is our only way to co-exist with security guards, parents, building administrators, cops, the MMDA, your neighbor, your neighbor’s cat (who always confuses you for a potential mate) and the list goes on.

But.

How well do YOU co-exist with Parkour? This pretty much decides how well you can defend your so-called Passion.

So.

If you haven’t asked yourself why you do Parkour, ask yourself now.

If you have, ask yourself again.

Ask yourself everyday.

Remember that Parkour evolves faster than we do. We are all still trying to catch up.

Keep moving.

While i feel euphoric with my own achievements, seeing the younger ones surpass me in such a short time gives me such GOOD VIBES (and a tear in my eye). I especially LOVE the indoor clips (sa DORM! Hahaha). Parkour IS everywhere.

It is common for every designer to face moments of non-inspiration. That is, moments where you very much know your end point but have no clue of how to get there. In such moments, just as taking a tour outside, taking a tour around the work of other designers might help. There’s always that little figure you might copy and tweak, that color you hadn’t thought of, or that inspiring typography you can modify.

Because design as a whole has to do with everything, from gardens to book covers through buildings, I chose for you a set of design show reels that cover various fields of design. I hope you’ll be inspired by them.
