Und nicht zwischendurch mal eben gucken, ob auch alle anderen Mitmachen! Nein nein!

Well I had registered for Shutdown Day on May 3. (The link for http://shutdownday.org seems to be broken now)  I successfully stayed off my computer, e-mail, Twitter, all my online networks for 24 hours. I enjoyed the time with family, friends and the outdoors so much I decided to extend the day a little longer and did not connect again until Sunday evening when I needed to complete a project for class and finish researching something for work.

I could do this again. I’m sure I missed something important, but knowing the wonderful people I’ve met in my network – they’ll fill me in.

Heute ist der sogenannte “Shutdown Day”. Zu diesem Tag wünschen sich die Initiatoren, dass weltweit möglichst viele ihren Computer nicht einschalten um stattdessen vor die Tür zu gehen und das RealLife geniessen.

Can you survive 24 hours without your computer? Unless there’s a beach vacation involved, it’s a stretch for me, but tomorrow – I’m going to do it!

An experiment is going on to see just how many people can go without using their computers tomorrow, Saturday, May 3, 2008. To be part of the experiment, just register online, consider advertising Shut Down Day on your blog or website, and maybe even create a short video of what you did with all the extra time you had with family and friends while you weren’t on your computer using all that electricity. There’s a contest you can enter to win some great prizes.

Shutdown Day si svolgerà il 3 maggio. Sul sito viene spiegata l’idea del progetto, cioè quelli di far rendere conto alle persone come sarebbe un giorno della loro vita senza computer. Riguardo lo Shutdown Day sul sito ufficiale è scritto:

Shutdown Day was founded with the sole purpose of spreading awareness about the pitfalls and dangers that lie in the excessive use of television, computers, and computing equipment like game boxes, cell phones, music players, online social websites, etc. Our main purpose is to get people to think about how their lives have changed with the increasing use of the computer, and whether or not any good things are being lost because of this.
Shutdown Day calls people to shut down their computers for one whole day of the year and involve themselves in some other activities: outdoors, nature, sports, fun stuff with friends and family – whatever, just to remind themselves that there still exists an enjoyable world outside one’s monitor screen.

Quindi il 3 maggio lasciate spenti i vostri cari pc e se riuscite anche la tv il cellulare, ecc. e andatevene con la ragazza, moglie, amici in giro a godervi il sole che c’è in questi giorni primaverili, sicuramente non ci farà male!!!!

“Можешь ли ты выжить день без компьютера?” под таким тэглайном пройдет флешмоб-акция “Shutdown Day”(дословно – “День Выключения”). В этот день, 03 мая, организаторы предлагают нам выключить свой компьютер ровно на сутки, тем самым экономя на электроэнергии. Пока на сайте http://www.shutdownday.org/ заявлено о 3027-и участниках. Так же разыгрываются призы на лучшее фото и видео на тему “день без компьютера”.
