Central Florida wins the first heat in 54.07, with UNC second in 55.23.

Heat 2 goes to Eastern Kentucky in 58.45.

And heat 3 is won by Towson in 59.32.

Florida cooks a 54.30 in the first heat, the second fastest ever at Penn. Nebraska in second at 54.90, equaling the #3 Penn time

Heat 2:  Georgetown wins in 56.12.

The college men are up first. Florida wins the first heat in 56.24. Heat 2 goes to Albany in 57.83 and Heat 3 is won by Kutztown in 59.70.

Jarius Cooper, who anchored the Gator squad, talked about his first Relays experience after the race. “This is my first time running at the Relays. Its incredible to try to absorb the energy of the crowd. This was our first time running as a group, and it was great.”

In the men’s Olympic Development race, the USA Red team wins in 53.31, an American record and world best. The old record was 54.40, by Tennessee in 1981. Running for Team USA were David Oliver, Joel Brown, Aubrey Herring and Aries Merritt. Results are here.

And finally, the college women’s division. LSU went wire-to-wire, holding off Texas A&M, 52.77—52.96 for its eighth victory at Penn and a new collegiate record. The old CR (52.85) was set by Illinois at the 2001 Drake Relays. LSU’s lineup: Tenaya Jones, Angel Boyd, Jessica Ohanaja and Nickiesha Wilson.

Cincinnati won Heat 2 in 57.66, while Coast Carolina took Heat 3 in 59.10.
