A group of specially trained soldiers, with high tech weaponry at their disposal, attempt to recover a case of nano-technology warheads from the evil Cobra organization.  Lots of things explode in the process.

I suppose I knew what I was getting into when I sat down to watch this one, but I was hoping it would be more tolerable than it was.   I thought it would at least be fun to see the toys I played with as a kid on display.  Unfortunately, most of the machinery in the movie doesn’t resemble anything I had as a kid, plus it’s all so obviously computer animated that I may as well have been watching a cartoon.

The movie is simultaneously more and less realistic than it needs to be.  More realistic in the sense that they use more real jeeps, tanks, helicopters, and planes than they should – as opposed to the ones featured in the line of toys.  Less realistic in the sense that the other technology is so advanced that it almost seems like you’re watching Star Trek at times.  Plus, as I mentioned, there’s way too much computer animated stuff.  I felt like I had accidentally popped in an X-Men DVD by mistake.  Everybody jumps around like they’re superheros.

That stuff could probably be somewhat overlooked if it weren’t for the fact that the characters are just deadly dull.  Their story lines are unoriginal, the dialogue is stiff, and the acting is uninspired.  Basically, the movie was made so that they could slap the title G.I. JOE on it.

Way to go Hollywood, yet another blown opportunity to make an enjoyable movie out of a nice childhood memory.  Instead we’re stuck with one more hyper-edited, over-loud, heartless display of special effects.  Just what we all needed…

The G.I. Joe soldiers are apparently SO good and unbeatable that they’re only called in when the regular army fails.  ‘Cause, ya know, you wouldn’t want to use them from the get-go and preserve the lives of those other regular soldiers…

10 – 2.1 for boring characters and acting – 1 for not using enough of the toys in the movie – 1.2 for being overlong and over loud – 1 for too much computer animation = 4.7

Interrompo o normal fluxo de posts, até porque o tempo tem escasseado e transporta o Mau Feitio para o mundo das futilidades, para revelar três desenvolvimentos importantes.

1- Hoje o estranho indivíduo devolveu-me, não 5, mas 10€. Eu não tinha troco e ele insistiu, pedindo-me desculpa por ter demorado tanto tempo e agradecendo-me por ter sido tão simpática. Prostrou o olhar, confessou-me que tinha problemas… Entretanto a senhora da imobiliária informou um vizinho que o senhor é incapacitado a 90% e assinou um contrato com o auxílio do Estado belga. Uma insuficiência qualquer no coração. Não sei desde quando os problemas cardíacos passaram a ser sinónimo de doenças mentais… Há muito que todos percebemos o que se passa, não entendo por que razão as pessoas têm que ser tão preconceituosas. Adiante. Desta vez o espécime contou-me que tudo no seu apartamento foi roubado. Parece que convidou um “amigo” para tomar chá e comer uma sopa e puff. Não sei se é verdade, nem me interessa. O senhor tem, claramente, um certo desequilíbrio mental e uma propensão para inventar histórias mirabolantes. Talvez um dia lhe peça uma contribuiçãozinha aqui para o Mau Feitio. O certo é que enquanto não interferir negativamente na vida das outras pessoas não vou considerá-lo um verdadeiro problema. Afinal bastou-me aguardar pacientemente e o estranho caso do professor da Tailândia resolveu-se por si. Posto isto:

2- O perfume que comprei, coca-bichinhos, foi: Orange, Hugo Boss. Ninguém percebeu a dica da Sienna Miller, o que prova que a vossa capacidade para ler nas entrelinhas e utilizar recursos potentíssimos como são os motores de busca e a Internet precisa de ser melhorada com urgência. À falta de melhor, e visto que ninguém acertou, fiquem com ela (a propósito, a música também tem a sua pinta).

3- A propósito do lixo… Este foi o e-mail por mim enviado a todos os residentes:

I have seen a black bag downstairs once again. It’s really annoying to always have garbage on the entrance of our building. The problem is that if you don’t use the official bags, your garbage won’t be collected. The official garbage bags can be bought at the City shop and also several supermarkets and stores.

GREEN for organic waste
BLUE for plastic bottles and flasks, metal packaging and drink cartons
BROWN for all the rest (except glass and paper and cardboard, among other specific waste)

Each type of bag has its own collection day and we are expected to put the correct bags outside the building until 6 or 7 a.m. of the corresponding collection day:

Tuesday – BROWN
Wednesday – BLUE + paper & cardboard (inside a carton box or tied together with a rope)
Friday – GREEN

I have attached two documents: one with all the instructions on how to proceed with the garbage, and another one containing a 2009 calendar with the collection days for each kind of garbage. I hope this is of help to you.

Ora, ninguém disse que o problema era o saco ser preto. Embora de facto a cor represente um problema e seja o principal motivo para o saco permanecer na entrada. Visto que sendo um saco não oficial, não é recolhido pelos serviços municipalizados. Quanto à morada da City shop, estava num dos pdfs que enviei como anexo (ambos continham uma página cada). Por acaso também mencionei os supermercados como pontos de venda dos sacos. Existe um a 1 minuto do nosso prédio.

E é assim. A estupidez e a preguiça foram claramente distribuídas de igual forma por todas as nacionalidades e, infelizmente, não escolhem idades.

Muita gente entra em pânico na hora de cortar as madeixas não é verdade? Eu sou uma delas, pois meu cabelo demora horrores para crescer, então não me permito muitas extravagâncias! hehehe!

E na hora de cortar o cabelo, as celebridades também ficam em dúvida, afinal, mudar o visual em uma indústria onde imagem é tudo, pode ser um desastre! Pois bem, vamos às figuras que foram bem na mudança:

Carrie (Embaixo da madeira) Underwood

Ela tinha o cabelo super longo, todo trabalhado no babyliss, bem Paris Hilton na época das vacas gordas, quando fazia Simple Life com a Nicole Richie, e usava um megahair bizarro. Apareceu no AMA deste ano, linda, com um cabelo mais curto (comprovando a tendência de cabelos com cortes de altura mediana). Achei que ela ficou infinitamente mais clássica, fugindo um pouco do look artificial hollywoodiano.

Vejam alguns bons exemplos do que (comprovadamente) funciona! Coloquei apenas um longo, porque estava chamando muito a minha atenção, pois Whitney Port (The City) deixou para trás o cabelo trabalhado no Sun Kiss e assumiu uma postura  Mulher Maravilha pós moderna, versão quase platinum! (hehehehe!) – ADOREI!

Jude and Sienna were seen in the club “The Box”, very intimate with each other and left the impression they were having a lot of fun.

PREVIEW: Cate Blanchett’s Bob Dylan Performance in I’m Not There.

Let’s face it, it’s only a matter of time until there’s a Lady Gaga movie, seeing as she already owns the face of pop music. The dilemma however is finding an actress who could accurately portray the enigma that is Lady Gaga.

The actress needs to be young, sexy, strut with serious attitude, and has to be a little weird. It crossed my mind several times that maybe the only person who fits the role is herself, but ever since 50 Cent’s Get Rich or Die Tryin’ (2005), I learned it’s not fun watching celebrities play themselves. Even some of the best actresses in the world would see the challenge of becoming Lady Gaga, and that’s why making a list of candidates was so damn hard.

1) Evan Rachel Wood

Ever since her tour-de-force performance in Thirteen (2003), Wood has secretly solidified herself as one of the most talented young actresses out there today. Not only does Wood have the talent to pull off the role, she’s also pretty weird–she dated Marilyn Manson, for crying out loud! They also semi-look alike, and I’m not going to knock Wood or any other actress for not having Lady Gaga’s honker–that’s what good makeup is for. And sex appeal? Check.

2) Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller is another talented actress who too often doesn’t receive her due. Not only is Miller talented as hell, like when she played Edie Sedgewick in Factory Girl (2006), but she also evokes sex and attitude. Rachel McAdams is talented too, but she doesn’t have the personality to pull off Lady Gaga—that’s the difference.

3) Natalie Portman

Natalie Portman is probably too cute to play Lady Gaga but her body of work shows versatility, like Alice in Closer (2004) and Evey in V for Vendetta (2005). Also, if you ever saw her role in Hotel Chevalier (2007), Wes Anderson’s short film, you know how bold and sexy she can be.

4) Keira Knightley

Ever since the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, I’ve lost complete respect for this woman. However, she has similar facial features and best of all–she’s English. And we all know how much Lady Gaga likes pretending she’s English.

5) Cate Blanchett

I know this is a stretch since Blanchett is a good 20 years older than Gaga, but in my mind, if you can play Bob Dylan like she did in I’m Not There (2007), you can play anyone. She got robbed at the Oscars, in my opinion, and with enough CGI, she could look like a 23-year old. She’s quite possibly one of the best actresses of our time, so it’s wrong to leave her out of the conversation.

De winter komt eraan en om toch stylish te blijven heb ik de belangrijkste

wintertrends voor je op een rij gezet. Ik heb een paar celebs opgezocht als

voorbeeld. Erg handig natuurlijk om het even af te kijken. We beginnen bij

Audrina! Je moet deze winter een grijze leren jasje hebben en dan hebben

we het over het biker model! Audrina was verstandig en heeft er al één. Een

trend die je vast niet is ontgaan zijn de over the knee boots. Love them! Kan

niet meer zonder. Zoals je ziet erg makkelijk te combineren. Iets moeilijker

te combineren zijn de sequins blazers zoals Lauren aanheeft. Maar zeker

een musthave! Om de warmte te weerstaan hebben we een shawl zoals

Shakira nodig met een luipaarddesign. Ik zoek een geschikte dus als je een

tip hebt let me know! Nog een blazer die je zeker weten nodig hebt. Een

blazer met power shoulders! Laat zien dat je een sterke vrouw bent zoals

Sarah. Erg leuk zijn de kanten panty’s zoals Taylor. Je moet er wel het

figuur voor hebben, maar als je dat hebt dan zijn ze lovely. Nog een trend

die je vast niet is ontgaan zijn de (nep!!!!) bont jasjes en bodywarmers.

Het staat leuk, maar het idee vind ik niet leuk. Ben erg TEGEN bont en

dus ook als je bont wilt creeeren! Ook moet je deze winter een riem hebben

die opvalt. Overigens vind ik haar er echt helemaal leuk uitzien! En last but

not least heb je een jurkje nodig die invloeden heeft van de menswear

uit de zakenwereld. Very chic.

At first, I didn’t understand all the hype about Sienna Miller.  Now, she is my personal style icon.  It is Sienna’s essence – her casual boho rocker style, ahh her vintage pieces, her crazy bed head, her funky accessories, her worldly street fashions…

Her look is always about the accessories.  You never see her in anything but the BEST sandals, boots, bags, sunglasses, scarfs, and the list goes on.   Her look is classic – and unlike many other fashion icons she keeps her look simple.  Nothing too flashy – just classic prints and materials.  It is almost as if her attitude is conveyed in her outfit I LOVE THAT – the ultimate sexy!

You can tell just by looking at her beaming smile that she has a genial nature!  A free spirit.  Sienna’s style is a perfect example of the floral and leather post I did earlier this week – she also has mastered the feminine take on the boyfriend jean. Anyways, here are some examples of her edgy yet classic and understated look!

O que esperar de um filme baseado na coleção de figuras de ação da Hasbro, os ‘bonequinhos’ do G. I. Joe? Explosões, gente bonita, e claro, te deixar com aquela vontade de entrar na primeira loja de brinquedos e comprar um bonequinho do Storm Shadow e outro do Snake Eyes assim que a sessão terminar!

Com direção de Stephen Sommers, que é conhecido por seus filmes que entretem sem compromisso, como Van Helsing e a trilogia A Múmia. Stephen brinca com o filme como se estivesse realizando seu sonho de criança. Os atores atiram, levam tiro, saltam, caem, brigam, beijam (beijos ridículos, só pra constar), e tem flashbacks. Vários. Sofridos. Na chuva, porque não tem como fugir do clichê.

O filme começa em um futuro não muito distante. O exército transporta uma nova arma com nanorobôs que destroem tudo o que é aço e só param quando são desativados por um controle remoto. O transporte segue bem até osCobra, um grupo de vilões com armas de tecnologia e treinamento superior ao do exército, atacarem o comboio atrás das tais armas. O capitão Duke, interpretado por Channing Tatum (que já foi stripper mas sem tirar a cueca, só pra deixar claro) e seu braço direito Ripcord, Marlon Wayans, que você provavelmente conhece pelas comédias Todo Mundo em Pânico, são salvos pelos G. I. Joe, uma divisão super secreta do exército internacional de inteligência, armas, tecnologia e treinamento tão avançados quanto os Cobra. É dado o ponta pé para várias reviravoltas, explosões e muita coisa acontecer ao mesmo tempo. Lógico que para haver uma, duas ou três continuações.

Com atores conhecidos, como Arnold Vosloo, interpretando o vilão camaleão Zartan e Brendan Fraser em uma participação muito rápida comoSargento Stone. Pois é, Imhotep e Richard O’Connell em lados opostos de novo! E claro,  Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (quero assistir uma entrevista com alguém dizendo o nome dele completo!) que os fãs de Lost conhecem como Mr Eko, interpretando Heavy Duty. Das gata-garotas temos a lindaSienna Miller, interpretando Ana, a baronesa. Sienna já deu vida a Victoria em Stardust. Rachel Nichols, é Scarlett, a nerd dos Joe. Rachel já atuou no seriado Alias, de J J Abrams. Será que isso pesou na escolha da atriz para a personagem?

G. I. Joe – The Rise of The Cobra (G.I. Joe – A Origem de Cobra) é uma rentável colcha de retalhos. Há diversos personagens que permitem diversas continuações tanto em grupo como histórias fechadas com um ou dos integrantes. Particularmente quero muito que façam um filme solo do Storm Shadow. Byung-hun Lee fez o personagem todo afetado, um verdadeiroElvis assassino from Japan!

Donnie Brasco – I think both (Leo and Al ………) are great actors And I found it bitter and sad to the right degree

My Left Foot – Yeah Simplicity rocks

Wuthering Heights – Ralph Fiennes YEAH But I am not so sure if Juliette Binoche was a perfect fit for Catherine.

Rachel Getting Married – They say its a campaign movie but I found it reasonably warming and nice.

But I didn’t really sympathize or feel in sync with the movie. Perhaps its my perfectly homogenous social sphere here in South Korea.

The Basketball Diaries – I hate drugs.

Layercake –  I get where its coming from but I think this type of ending does sort of throw the audience off. But I like Daniel Craig and Sienna Miller. Yeah, Sienna Miller shows up for literally five minutes on the movie, but that much more of Craig. Acceptable.

Trainspotting  - Ewan McGregor. I like you even after seeing you dive into the toilet filled with shit for the drug you’ve hid under your underwear. And such cool Scottish accents!!

Lust, Caution – The love scene was a bit too much for me but it was the best romance movie after The English Patient. Perhaps it’s because I don’t watch a lot of romance movies but still I think I cried well over ten minutes.

Stormbreaker – I don’t even want to remember, despite the short appearance of Ewan McGregor.

Age of Innocence – Visually pleasing and true to the original. I liked it.

and as for TV shows… ROME!!!

Rome – I am not deleting you for a very long time.

There’s no denying it, Cheryl Cole has the X-factor. Not only has Miss Cole been wowing us with her vocal talents on this year’s X-Factor, she’s been blowing our minds with an array of designer outfits that would make even the most ardent of fashionistas go weak at the knees.

There was the Atelier Versace Spring 2009 strapless gold embellished dress followed by the red paillette covered number. The patchwork 3.1 Phillip Lim jumpsuit, the Julien Macdonald military-meets-dance get-up worn with Alexander Wang boots and she’s even been seen working Alexa Chung’s favourite French label, APC.

So, with every cool, classic and up-and coming label on her radar what will Cheryl have in store for us on tomorrow’s X-Factor show? Hmmm.
