Gracehounds is currently searching for permanent homes for 6 beautiful greyhounds: Torres, Poppy, Roddy, Marcus, Tar & Snowflake.

Torres

Torres (who my partner & I fostered for 6 months), is a 2 year old male ex-racer. During his time in foster care he has blossomed into a lovely natured, affectionate, handsome boy. He enjoys the company of other dogs & well-behaved children but is not suitable to live with cats.  Torres loves to play, & is also quite content to curl up in bed or stretch out on the sofa & just relax!

Poppy

Poppy is a 2 1/2 year old female ex-racer. She is a beautiful girl, who is still quite shy. She’s just starting to come out of her shell & is curious about everything she has not seen before. A lovely sweet-natured dog, Poppy gets on well with the other dogs in her foster home, & is slowly being introduced to the world outside it.

Roddy

Roddy is a 2 1/2 year old male ex-racer. He is a very handsome boy with a coat as soft as cotton-wool. Full of affection, Roddy loves to play, especially with his brother, Marcus. He also loves to snuggle in bed. He gets on well with most other dogs & may be suitable to live with older children.

Marcus is a 2 1/2 year old male ex-racer. Like his brother, Roddy, he has a beautiful white & black coat. Marcus is full of fun & adores playing with everybody & everything! His long tail is always wagging as he investigates the world around his foster home.

Tar

Tar is a 6 1/2 year old male ex-racer. He has a wonderful comical face with big ears & a wee bent nose. A very laid back dog, Tar is at ease with other dogs, cats & children. Until recently Tar was living with his friend, Snowflake, but due to a change in their owner’s circumstances is now looking for a new home.

Snowflake

Snowflake is a 6 year old female ex-racer. She is a gentle, sweet-natured dog with beautiful markings. Although she’s quiet, she likes to play & is happy around other dogs & children but not cats. Like her friend, Tar, a change in her owner’s circumstances means Snowflake is now looking for a new home.

Whoever is lucky enough to live with a Saluki – or a sighthound – will know how important freedom is for these ancient and feline dog-like creatures.  Salukis observe, reflect and judge us incessantly and need full, stimulating lives: the least we can do is to let them run free. In our case it has become a full-time job to look for suitable places: beaches, hills, open fields… any huge expanse of land unclatterd by cars, traffic and human commotion. Uriel is only too happy to comply with his nature but Stella,  a pure bred Arab-born desert princess and only equally born to run, is held captive… FREE STELLA!!

Our puppies are now six weeks old. They have been interesting to watch over the last few weeks, as they have found their feet and cut their teeth. Without any sort of instruction or training, they began to fight each other. They will spar until one yields, usually in some sort of pain. They other thing is that they like meat. Again, no one had to tell them to like dead flesh. They will eat other things, but they like meat.

Dogs are predators. They like to kill things. That’s the way they are made. I marvel at the so-called animal rights activists and supporters who do not support the right of dogs to kill. In this country they have ineffectually banned fox hunting and hare coursing. (The hunts continued despite protestors causing criminal damage and sending videos to the police. The police have openly stated they will not enforce the ban of foxhunting, though they still chase hare coursers occasionally.) In the case of fox hunting, fox can be killed after being chased by hounds, but they must be killed by humans. Likewise it is legal to shoot a hare; you just can’t send a dog after it.

This is because there are people who enjoy watching the dogs do what dogs do. It is not the prey that is banned – only the predator. We are supposed to feel that there is something wrong with watching the natural course of predator vs. prey – unless we are watching wild animals on a David Attenborough documentary, of course. So it’s okay to watch an alligator kill a kangaroo or an orca chomp down on a seal, but not a hound chase down a fox.

I also think it is hypocritical to spay or neuter a dog. So many of those who support animal rights also support human reproductive rights (both causes being favourites of the Left). It seems unnecessarily cruel to an animal to take away their reproductive organs merely as a human convenience. If you don’t want puppies, keep the bitch away from a dog.

We breed and sell sighthounds. Many people breed them as show dogs. They try to develop certain qualities in them that appeal to the poncy prima donnas at Crufts and other dog shows, with just the right colour, height, and grooming. We don’t breed show dogs. We breed dogs that can do what dogs do best. We only sell them to people who let them use their natural ability and instinct. They see (with a peripheral range of about 270°), they run really fast (up to about 45 mph), and they kill. And they love it. That’s the way God made them.

Puppy Gizmo, real name Starcastle Hounds Singleton, was as the name says; a singleton puppy.
He has now moved to his forever home in Norway.

Mister is quite fat now, being a singleton he has no competition for food.
He had quadrupled his size on his 14th day since birth.

The Swedish Silken Windhound Club has started a newsblog to display international Silken news for the Swedish members and the Swedish Silken fans.

The idea is to try to collect links to all the different Silken photo albums out there, keep track of major updates to kennel sites, new Silken sites, racing and coursing results and shows.

The difficult part will be to try to gather all the information that is out in cyber space in order to summarize it and put it in the blog

The blog will actually be mostly in Swedish but some things are universal, like links and the result lists.
This just may prove to be the place where you go to look up the links and facts that you have forgotten

Morning Mist is now 1 week old, he has grown from 275 gram at birth to 800 gram at one week.
New photos show a puppy that is getting a little bit fat, not so strange considering that he is a singleton and has the milk bar all to himself.

Sire lines and female lines are now updated with latest imports and the latest puppy.
