I saw this new website tweeted yesterday by the Subversive Cross Stitch woman (also, ironically enough, named Julie), and have added it to our links (for easy access), but I haven’t had a chance to go back and read all the archives yet (you KNOW I can’t just jump in all out of order). The name itself got me. But I originally sort of confused their name with another places’s name. (Who I have also added, but not yet read.) The reason I mention this, and the reason for the title today, is because of my (obvious, but as yet, undocumented) OCD tendencies.

No, Hanna Brooks, I have NOT been diagnosed, legally nor technically, by any doctor. It is simply your father’s over 30 years of observations. HE came up with the boarder-line Asperger’s idea, and HE noticed that I’m a wee bit addictive when I come across something I belive that I can not live without.

This just kept appearing in my day. The first time was after my old lady splashy class when I chatted for a few pleasant moments with another pool patron (hi Karen, hope you found us) about becoming obsessed with, or addicted to, certain things in our lives. And again when another blogger mentioned how she fretted and obsessed in her latest post. When I saw the tweets, I knew it was going to be our topic du jour. (An aspect of the Rule of Three in action here, in case you were wondering.)

One either has addictive compulsions, or one does not. I haven’t seen a whole lotta in-between with this category (feel free to prove me wrong in the comments section, I won’t be offended, it wasn’t like I conducted a scientific study or anything). An example: me vs Daniel, and tattoos. I started getting them at the age of 15, and haven’t stopped since, I am planning my next one (all the damn time). He waited until he found (created with Wulff) the exact one he wanted. And he was done. There. That’s the one I like. That’s the one I can live with. All finished.

My crafts are another example. Many folks are crafty, and they have a few in their repertoire that they enjoy. Not me, I find one I like and can’t let it go. I am now obsessed with being subversive using thread and embroidery floss, and want to create millions of little nasty sounding samplers. Right now I am working on an insert for my wallet (photos soon, not ready yet). So when I saw those new places, with bad words and trashy remarks, I just knew I’d have to read every damn thing they had posted. It’s like that with me, all or nothing. In order.

We saw only one foreign license plate today: Texas. But yesterday we saw one that I had never come across before… (Are you ready? It’s actually foreign!) Jalisco!!! As in, Mexico, a real live foreign land. I was so happy. Then we spotted one from Colorado. Perfectly nice. But nothing like Jalisco!!!

Now we see what the cards have to say. (Can’t write much today, must go read archives. In order.) Another animal, this time from the Medicine Cards Deck. “Lynx ~ Secrets

It is said that if you want to find out a secret, ask Lynx medicine. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get the silent Lynx to speak. To be confronted by the powerful medicine of Lynx signifies that you do not know something about yourself or others.

Lynx is the keeper of the secrets of lost magical systems and occult* knowledge. Lynx has the ability to move through time and space, and to go into the Great Silence for unraveling any mystery. Lynx is not the guardian of secrets, but the knower of secrets. The problem lies in getting Lynx to instruct you. He or she would rather be off chasing a bird or kicking sand in your face than running circles around you.

This is a very specific type of clairvoyance. When it is strong, you get mental pictures concerning other people and the exact things they have hidden, either from themselves or from others. You will see their fears, their lies, and their self-deceptions. You will also know where they have hidden the treasure, if there is any. You never speak of these revelations, you simply know.

The only way you can coax information about yourself out is to respect the practices of tradition. When this card comes up you can be sure that ‘secrets’ are afloat. Be still and pay attention to the revelations you receive, either in the form of mental pictures or through information in the form of signs, symbols, or omens. You can also be assured that Mother Earth is signalling to you in some manner.

When Lynx is at your door, listen. Brother or Sister Lynx can teach you about your personal power and of things you have forgotten about yourself. Lynx can lead you to lost treasures, and connect you to forgotten brother/sisterhoods.

Some shamans believe that the Sphinx of ancient Egypt was not a lion but a lynx. This Lynx does not say much. With an enigmatic smile, the great cat watches over the sands of Forever.”

*A note from me. This word: occult has gotten a lot of bad press. It was mistranslated an extremely long time ago, and now people THINK they know what it means. They generally do not. The true definition is: that which is not yet known. Not a damn thing more sinister than that. And never was it originally believed to be associated with the fictional construct that folks think of as the devil. (And just so you know, that particular being does not exist.)
