Silvia racing : jolie

I know I’ve posted a lot of Silvias lately.. But… I had to post this one up – M Sports rocks my socks!!! Last one! for now… *Grins*

This is how you do it, I think I’m beginning to have to develop a fetish for BUFF looking cars.

I prefer the M Sports bumper over the Vertex that Calwin Wan is sporting now. The Vertex is just too… clean. Haha I know I’m not making sense to most people – Everyone loves Vertex I’m sure. It’s just that the M Sports has aggressive lines and couple that with offset, camber and poke – you’ll have one BAD ASS car. Example, google: Tex Modify S15.

Stop eyeballin already!!!!!

While backtracking some flickr-portfolios of my contacts, I came across this Nissan Silvia s15 by XTERC. Not only is the car great to look at (maybe the wing is just a bit too big, but everything else is spot on!), but the sharpness and lighting is spot on in this photoshoot. Top marks for Chris Basher!

Qui n’aime pas le Silvia de Ross Petty ? Au Québec, on a eu la chance de voir Ross et son vieux S13 ainsi que Calvin Wan et son Rx-7 fd3s. Il sont descendu au Québec avec le Team Falken directement de Formula Drift au States pour participer au 2007 Driftmania Canadian Championship. Aujourd’hui le voici Ross, avec sa nouvelle monture: Sa grosse bombe de Nissan S15 et très bien apprêté en plus. C’est une des plus belle S15 a ce jour.

Lembram-se do Jorge do post sobre o Japão? Hoje ele me apresentou mais um carro de um amigo seu, esse Silvia S14 rosa choque com frente “bad boy”, belo carro!

Sempre me perguntei o porque dos caras curtirem tanto montar carros cor de rosa, e perguntei a ele porque carros rosa fazem tanto sucesso, a resposta? “É porque a mulherada curte muito!” Muito bem explicado!! Curti esse visual com as lanternas transparentes, deu uma outra cara ao Nissan!

Apesar de toda a pinta de carro de dori e da aparente preparação pesada no motor com esse intercooler gigatesco, o Jorge não soube me informar se o dono do carro anda mesmo no porto com o rosinha, quando ele ainda morava por lá o cara não andava de lado, então fica pra próxima maiores informações sobre preparação e uso do S14, assim como mais carros direto do Japão, aguardem!

As this weekend’s much awaited Formula D Pro Am event at Irwindale Speedway draws near, the members of the Motor Mavens Crew from Los Angeles are getting more and more excited to see all our friends from all the different grassroots drifting scenes from all over the country.

Our whole crew has a ton of respect for all the grassroots drivers out there; they are certainly working hard to step their game up and make it into the pro ranks… and for me personally, I think sometimes watching the grassroots guys compete is even more exciting than watching the pro drivers go at it. Some people may be thinking, “What?! Are you crazy?” I know, I know… it may be a bit different to outsiders or to those who are just sitting in the stands… but for those of us who circulate through the pit areas and go to the different shops and hang out with the drivers even outside of track events, it’s really inspiring to see the hard work and perseverance of normal, everyday individuals, the grassroots enthusiasts, pay off.

This is what passion is all about. And this is why I think people are crazy when people think drifting is just a fad. Maybe it is for outsiders… but for the people who live and breathe this stuff day in and day out, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

One guy who lives and breathes drifting is Roland Gallagher. The first time I saw Roland drive was at Formula D Las Vegas, where he was competing to earn his invite to the Pro Am. I was standing trackside with my younger brother David, and I saw this flash of teal pass me, followed by clouds of billowing white tiresmoke. My eyes followed the tiresmoke and somehow became fixated on his WHEELS which had ridiculously fat lips… I remember muttering “helllll yeah” under my breath, because these days, it’s becoming more and more rare to see drift cars with good looking wheels and stance on the FD circuit. E’ arrivato anche il mio turno di iniziare questo viaggio. Arrivo i primi di novembre ad Juliaca, e subito sono stata travolta da tante immagini ed emozioni nuove. Vestiti colorati, sorrisi di benvenuto, gioia di incontrare il gruppo a Puno e iniziare subito le attivita’ con i ragazzi.

Pochi giorni dopo il mio arrivo, guidati da Nilda, il nostro contatto locale,  ci dirigiamo verso la provincia del Crucero, a 3 ore di viaggio da Puno, per una giornata di attivita’ nella scuola di Anansaya.

It was finally my turn to join this trip. I arrived in Juliaca in the first week of November and I was immediately overwhelmed by the landscapes and the emotions that this place brings you. Colorful dresses, welcoming smiles and the excitement of meeting the team in Puno and starting the activities with the children.

A few days after my arrival, Nilda, our local contact, leads us to the province of Crucero, 3 hours from Puno for a day of activities at the school of Anansaya.

Finalmente es mi turno para empezar este viaje. Llegué a Juliaca los primeros días de Noviembre y fui desbordada por muchas situaciones y emociones. Vestidos coloridos, sonrisas de bienvenida… Estaba impaciente por encontrar al equipo en Puno para empezar las actividades con los niños.

Poco después de mi llegada fuimos guiados por Nilda (nuestro contacto local) y nos dirigimos a Crucero (a 3 horas de Puno) para realizar un día de actividades en la escuela Anansaya.

Vaciando el tanque / Emptying the gas tank

Il viaggio e’ piu’ lungo del previsto per diversi contrattempi, tra cui la benzina sbagliata in uno dei veicoli,  e stiamo un’ora in un benzinaio per svuotare il serbatoio… Ma finalmente arriviamo a destinazione, e subito ci rendiamo conto che siamo in un posto speciale con persone speciali. La scuola e’ circondata da un paesaggio duro, ma con una natura ricca di risorse per i suoi abitanti. I ragazzi si dispongono in fila sotto la guida dei maestri, per un piccolo cerimoniale di benvenuto che ci lusinga. Poi iniziano a farci domande, ci  chiedono come siamo arrivati da tanto lontano, e i loro occhi brillano al pensiero di un aereo sull’oceano. Ci chiedono se riusciremo ad osservare le stelle con i telescopi. Il cielo e’ coperto di nuvole e ci raccontano quali segnali della natura e del comportamento degli animali indicano i cambiamenti del tempo.

The journey is longer than we expected. We used the wrong kind of fuel in one of the vehicles, so we had to stay for one hour in a gas station to empty the tank. But we finally reach our destination, a really special place. The school there is surrounded by a savage landscape, full of natural resources. The kids, all lined up, perform a warm welcoming ceremony for us. They ask us questions, how we got there from so far away, their eyes shining at the thought of an airplane above the ocean. They ask us if we’ll be able to observe the stars with the telescopes. Disappointed, we look at the cloudy sky… so they teach us how to read Nature’s signs for weather changes.

El viaje fue mas largo de lo esperado por diversas razones, incluyendo el combustible equivocado en uno de los vehículos, por lo que tuvimos que quedarnos una hora en una estación de servicio para vaciar el tanque de combustible. Finalmente llegamos a nuestro destino y de inmediato percibimos que estábamos en un lugar muy particular con gente muy especial. La escuela esta rodeada por un paisaje duro y a la vez rico en recursos para su gente. Los niños estaban alineados para agasajarnos con una pequeña ceremonia. A continuación nos preguntaron  como habíamos llegado desde tan lejos, mientras tanto, sus ojos brillaban imaginándose el océano y los aviones. También nos preguntaron si veríamos las estrellas con los telescopios, el cielo estaba cubierto de nubes y ellos nos decían que se venía un cambio de clima.

Bienvenida a la escuela Anansaya / Wellcome of the Anansaya School

Prima di iniziare le attivita’, ci uniamo a ragazzi e maestri in una preghiera a Pachamama (la madre terra) perche’ ci possa donare un buon cielo. Condividiamo preghiere in Quechua e tre foglie di coca, e un raggio di sole entra nella piccola classe.

Le attivita’ sono vivaci, ricche di domande e scambi di informazioni sopra le stelle,  le costellazioni e l’universo.Siamo circondati da un’atmosfera serena. I ragazzi sono curiosi, con gli occhi scuri aperti e pieni di voglia di imparare. I maestri sono orgogliosi di mostrare il loro lavoro, ci raccontano la loro grande voglia di insegnare la cultura e la storia della loro terra ai ragazzi, perche’ facciano tesoro delle ricche tradizioni del posto. E  ci chiedono del nostro lavoro con una curiosita’ commovente. Ci dicono che per la loro scuola la nostra visita e’ un’occasione unica. Gli stranieri non passano per questo piccolo paese. Siamo troppo lontani dalla via turistica che collega il Titicaca a Cusco. Ci sentiamo ospiti importanti, e capiamo quanto possa essere profonda la richezza dello scambio di sapere e tradizioni.

Il cielo si e’ rannuvolato. I ragazzi ci chiedono di rimanere fino alla madrugada, perche’ sanno che allora compariranno le stelle. Ma piu’ di tre ore di viaggio ci aspettano, e dobbiamo ripartire.

Before starting the activities we join the kids and the teachers in a prayer to the Pachamama (Mother Earth) and ask her for a clear sky. We say prayers in quechua and raise three leaves of coca. Right at that moment, a ray of sun shines into the little classroom.

The activities are lively, with many questions on the stars, the constellations and the Universe. We are surrounded by a warm atmosphere. The children are curious, their dark eyes open and eager to learn.

The teachers talk to us about their work proudly.  They tell us about their desire to teach the culture and history of their land to the students, so that they can appreciate the reach traditions of the region.They ask us about our work with a curiosity that is really touching and they tell us that our visit is a unique experience for the school.

Foreigners don’t usually pass from this little village.  It’s too far from the touristic route that joins the Titicaca with Cusco.   Still, we are treated with such warmth and sincere joy, that we can only feel lucky to have shared these moments with these people.

The sky is cloudy again. The children ask us to stay until dawn because they know that late at night the stars will appear. But we have more than 3 hours of trip back ahead of us and we are forced to leave.

Antes de empezar las actividades nos unimos a los niños y a los maestros con una oración a la Pacha Mama para que nos diera cielos despejados. Lo hicimos en Quechua con tres hojas de coca, y un rayo de sol brilló por la pequeña ventana del aula.

La actividad estuvo muy dinamica, hubo muchas preguntas e intercambio de  acerca de las estrellas, constelaciones y el universo. La atmosfera era cálida, los niños estaban curiosos y con sus ojos abiertos de par en par,  muy dispuestos a aprender. Los maestros estaban orgullosos de mostrar su trabajo, nos contaron de sus deseos de enseñar la cultura y la historia de su tierra a los estudiantes, para que aprecien las ricas tradiciones de la región. Ellos se interesaban en nuestro trabajo con una curiosidad que nos conmocionaba, ademas de explicarnos que nuestra visit a era una experiencia única para la escuela. Los extranjeros no visitan el pueblo: está demasiado alejado del circuito turístico que une Titicaca con Cusco. Nos sentimos como invitados importantes y comprendímos cuán profundamente rico puede ser el intercambio de conocimiento y tradiciones.

El cielo esta nublado nuevamente. Los niños nos piden que nos quedemos hasta el atardecer pues en la noche las estrellas apareceran. Pero tenemos mas de 3 horas de viaje adelante nuestro y debemos marcharnos.

La buena suerte / The good luck

Passiamo dalla casa di Nilda a conoscere sua mamma e a salutare velocemente due nuovi membri della casa. Sono due corderi di pochi giorni. Li prendiamo in braccio, giochiamo per qualche minuto. Uno lascia una macchia bagnata sul poncho di Jorge. Speriamo sia stato un segno di buona fortuna per i prossimi viaggi, per Jorge che sta per tornare a Monaco, e per questi ragazzi e maestri che ci hanno fatto il grande dono dello scambio.

Before we leave, we pass by Nilda’s house to meet her mother and to say a quick hi to the two new members of the family, two adorable little lambs. We hold them and play with them for few minutes. One leaves a wet spot on Jorge’s poncho. We take it as a sign of good luck to our future trips, to Jorge who is about to return to Munich and to the children and teachers of this village that gave us the great gift of their company and hospitality.

En el regreso pasamos por la casa de Nilda para conocer a su mamá y rápidamente decir “hola” a dos nuevos miembros de la casa, dos pequeños corderos. Jugamos con ellos solo unos momentos, y uno dejo una pequena mancha mojada en el poncho de Jorge. Nosotros creemos que es un signo de buen augurio para lo que resta del viaje, para Jorge que está a punto de volver a Munich, y para los niños y profesores de este pueblo que nos regalaron su compañía.

Nossa grande amiga Daiana “quase não falou” no domingo, único dia em que compareceu no camarote, porém no próximo ano ela promete romper as barreiras da timidez e falar com todos os convidados!

Manoel F. da Costa e sua esposa Mariana Costa compareceram ao Camarote Flexcine 2009.

Cotado para comandar o Maranhão nos próximos anos, Manoel aprovou o camarote e confirmou presença para 2010.

Dois dos nossos convidados, que no caso estavam solteiros, foram com a idéia de pegar várias mulheres. Mas como esses dois eram Barros e Byn, então vamos trocar várias mulheres por uma mulher…

No primeiro dia conseguiram um progresso e tanto: tiraram foto com mulheres de outro camarote. Outro fato raro que aconteceu, se não tivesse a foto abaixo ninguém ia acreditar.

O problema é ficou só na foto, não sei o que aconteceu, tiraram a foto e saíram correndo das mulheres?! Não entendi, nem o nome eles perguntaram! rsrs

Mas para calar a todos: eles conseguiram!

Barros no segundo dia levou a sério e conseguiu “pegar”… no verdadeiro sentido da palavra!

Byn apesar de todos darem como perdido, vejam a foto do último dia…
